The David Spoon Experience 3-2-23 Part 1

A) The ministry of death is contrasted with the ministry of the Spirit. And the reason is that “ultimately,” the Law produces death. The ministry of the Holy Spirit produces life. The Law was given so that we could understand the depth and the level of our sin. That is what the covenant of the Law was intended to do. The new covenant of Grace, unmerited favor, is intended to allow us to understand that beyond our own failures, God has a redeeming answer for us.
B) Paul then goes even deeper in his comparisons by explaining that the new covenant has so much glory and surpasses the old covenant (by so much) that there is no comparison. What he states is the same thing that the author of the book of Hebrew states. Because of the greater glory that has come by the from, the glory from the old is fading away.
C) Paul then draws the conclusion (through the Holy Spirit) that we have an amazing hope from the New Covenant. And because of that hope, we have the ability to be bold. We don’t have to put a veil over our faces. We don’t have to worry about the glow of God’s presence departing from us. Because the Holy Spirit lives inside us, the Lord never leaves nor diminishes within us.
