03-07-2025 Part 1: Transcendent Moments: The Importance of Spiritual Engagements

This podcast episode presents a profound exploration of the question, "What has God been teaching you this week?" I engage with listeners to elicit reflections on their spiritual journeys, emphasizing the significance of discernment in recognizing divine lessons. Through interactions with callers, we delve into the themes of patience and attentiveness, highlighting the necessity of listening to God's guidance in our lives. The episode further incorporates scriptural references, particularly from 2 Peter, to illustrate the transformative experiences of the apostles and their relevance to contemporary faith. Ultimately, we seek to foster a deeper understanding of God's ongoing work in our lives, encouraging a communal sharing of insights and testimonies.

The discourse featuring Dr. David Spoon encapsulates a profound exploration of the lessons imparted by divine interaction within the lives of believers. Central to this dialogue is the inquiry: 'What has God been teaching you this week?' This question serves as a catalyst for introspection, prompting participants to reflect on their spiritual journeys and the subtleties of divine instruction that manifest in their daily lives. Dr. Spoon emphasizes the necessity of recognizing God's continual presence and guidance, encouraging listeners to acknowledge the transformative moments that often go unnoticed amidst the daily hustle. The episode unfolds with a blend of earnest reflection and spirited engagement, including listener calls that enrich the conversation, thereby fostering a community built on shared faith experiences.

Furthermore, the episode delves into the scriptural foundation of these teachings, referencing 2 Peter 1:16, where Peter recounts the transfiguration of Christ. This monumental event is presented not merely as a historical occurrence but as an enduring testament to the majesty of Jesus and the veracity of divine revelation. Dr. Spoon eloquently argues that such experiences should be cherished and remembered, as they serve to fortify one's faith in times of doubt. By engaging with the scripture and interspersing listener anecdotes, Dr. Spoon creates a dynamic atmosphere that is both educational and spiritually uplifting, reinforcing the message that God is perpetually at work in the lives of those who seek Him.

Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DD DDDD's, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.

Speaker A:

Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.

Speaker A:

But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh and some of you really need to hear a good joke.

Speaker A:

The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.

Speaker A:

If you're a Bible believing born again Christian, you should be like going, yay.

Speaker A:

Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use.

Speaker A:

Probably won't.

Speaker A:

If we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

Speaker A:

Because God had to plug me in somewhere.

Speaker A:

Might as well be radio.

Speaker A:

Also Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.

Speaker A:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, local, national and heavenly talk.

Speaker A:

My name is David, Dr.

Speaker A:

David Spoon.

Speaker A:

I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.

Speaker A:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

Speaker A:

Here is the key to the show.

Speaker A:

We don't know what we're doing.

Speaker A:

We have no idea what's gonna happen.

Speaker A:

Pretty much we don't care.

Speaker A:

But for the next few minutes, I want to talk Jesus with you.

Speaker A:

So here we go.

Speaker A:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

Speaker A:

That thingy right there.

Speaker A:

That thingy thingy.

Speaker A:

Yes, here it is.

Speaker A:

Excellent question.

Speaker A:

I think I'm going to really cement this question in, especially on Fridays.

Speaker A:

What has God been teaching you this week?

Speaker A:

What has God been teaching?

Speaker A:

Don't tell me he's not teaching you.

Speaker A:

Don't tell me he's not pulling you towards him.

Speaker A:

Don't tell me he's not doing things in your life.

Speaker A:

I know he is.

Speaker A:

He's always working.

Speaker A:

He's the way maker.

Speaker A:

He's the miracle maker.

Speaker A:

And so we just need to be aware.

Speaker A:

What has God been teaching you this week?

Speaker A:

It's an excellent question, deep thought, serious contemplation.

Speaker A:

Let's keep it simple.

Speaker A:

If you want to share or respond to that, we would like that.

Speaker A:

If you have an opinion, a comment, a thought, or a question about something else, don't let it die of loneliness.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Alrighty.

Speaker A:

Talking to jam and Jacob is like a peaceful day and evening with no drama.

Speaker A:

No drama.

Speaker A:

All right, now, we already have somebody calling in, and we like that.

Speaker A:

We think stuff like that is fun and cool.

Speaker A:

So we will be telling you other ways to get in touch with us, plus other things that are going on.

Speaker A:

But to start the show off with unplanned, as it always is, we have somebody who's calling in, so let's go ahead and send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker B:

This is Brandon.

Speaker A:

Hi, Brandon.

Speaker A:

How are you doing?

Speaker A:

All right, good.

Speaker A:

Glad to hear that.

Speaker A:

Glad to hear that.

Speaker A:

Are you calling to give me an answer about what God has been teaching you?

Speaker B:

He's been teaching me to be more patient and listen.

Speaker A:

It's a tough lesson, isn't it, though?

Speaker A:

It's like, you know when you think you're doing pretty well and you think you've been getting into the patience line a little, and then you find out the Lord's going, yeah, I want to stretch you a little more going, wow.

Speaker A:

But that's an excellent, excellent response to be patient and to listen.

Speaker A:

Because in our lack of patience, we tend not to listen.

Speaker A:

So that's an excellent combo.

Speaker A:

Excellent, excellent job.

Speaker A:

Everything going okay?

Speaker A:

Need prayer for anything.

Speaker A:

You're doing good.

Speaker B:

Everything's doing all right.

Speaker A:

All right, well, I'm glad to hear that, and thank you so much for making the phone call.

Speaker A:

We appreciate it.

Speaker A:

It's really, really kind of you, and we appreciate you taking the time to do it.

Speaker B:

Hey, Dave.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I got one thing for you.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Fire away.

Speaker B:

It's a joke.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

It's clean, right?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Okay, cool.

Speaker A:

Go ahead.

Speaker B:

Where do bad rainbows go?

Speaker A:

Wow, I do not know this.

Speaker A:

Where do bad rainbows go?

Speaker B:

They go to Prism.

Speaker B:

It's a light finish.

Speaker A:

Ah, that's a good one.

Speaker A:

All right, Brandon, you get a score for that?

Speaker A:

A definite five star on that one.

Speaker A:

They go to Prism.

Speaker A:

Excellent job with the lights in it.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

That's a great, great joke.

Speaker A:

Excellent job, brother.

Speaker A:

Appreciate it.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

God bless you.

Speaker B:

You have a blessed day.

Speaker A:

You too.

Speaker A:

Bye.

Speaker A:

Bye.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Phenomenal opening call.

Speaker A:

Not only that, we got a joke out of it.

Speaker A:

Brandon, starting the show off right, that's the way to do it.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Plus, sharing Something really important that the Lord is teaching him patience and to listen.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

Those are very, very powerful elements.

Speaker A:

And they really do clarify.

Speaker A:

Go very closely together, if you think about it.

Speaker A:

So that was a great phone call.

Speaker A:

So here's the deal.

Speaker A:

We want you to be able to call us.

Speaker A:

In fact, you can also text people like that.

Speaker A:

I mean, they like to text.

Speaker A:

It's very comfortable.

Speaker A:

We give credit to Eric.

Speaker A:

He won't take it, but we still give him credit.

Speaker A:

Because when we were going through Covid and different things, this is really what came out, out of the show.

Speaker A:

So literally, you can text us during the show.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Now, that is the ministry line.

Speaker A:

But during the show, it's just for texts.

Speaker A:

Okay, so nine, seven, two.

Speaker A:

That's the call in number 214.

Speaker A:

That is the text number.

Speaker A:

And you can also email us.

Speaker A:

Email us davidemustincrease.org David, that's my name.

Speaker A:

That's what they named me at birth.

Speaker A:

At a.

Speaker A:

With a circle.

Speaker A:

He must increase.

Speaker A:

John 3, 30.

Speaker A:

He must increase.

Speaker A:

I must decrease.org because we're a nonprofit corporation.

Speaker A:

That's why.

Speaker A:

So why would you call us?

Speaker A:

Why would you text?

Speaker A:

Why would you email?

Speaker A:

It could be just what we.

Speaker A:

The very thing we just asked you to open the show.

Speaker A:

What has the Lord been teaching you this week?

Speaker A:

We've had several people respond to that.

Speaker A:

You might even want to tell a joke.

Speaker A:

So Brandon even told a joke.

Speaker A:

On top of that, by the way, Eric had an add on to that joke.

Speaker A:

He said after it went to prison, it was a light sentence.

Speaker A:

See, it was a light sentence.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

Light sentence.

Speaker A:

Okay, well, I thought it was funny.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Anyway, in addition to all of that, we do want you to be aware if you've got something you want to share, something the Lord has guided you in, directed you in, or blessed you in a testimony or a praise report, by all means, reach out and let us know if you've got a prayer request.

Speaker A:

One of the things that we do get to see is many prayer requests turn into praise offerings.

Speaker A:

They turn into testimonies, they turn into moments that we can give glory to the Lord.

Speaker A:

Isn't that just awesome?

Speaker A:

Of course it is.

Speaker A:

Additionally, on top of that, by the way, we want you to be aware that if you've got something, you just want to share something that just, like, dawned on you.

Speaker A:

And just like, you know, this dawned on me, the Lord really gave me this.

Speaker A:

It really helped Me, it helped me draw closer.

Speaker A:

That is our bent.

Speaker A:

That is our slant.

Speaker A:

I know everybody's got a different name for what it is.

Speaker A:

We are geared towards helping people get closer to the Lord.

Speaker A:

We don't object to politics.

Speaker A:

You know that.

Speaker A:

We support the shows that are before us and after us and all around us, as well as just the teaching shows, which are phenomenal.

Speaker A:

But we want people to be aware in this particular time zone, we're really gearing towards helping one another draw closer to the Lord, strengthening one another and blessing one another.

Speaker A:

We're looking to maintain the unity, as Paul wrote in the Epistle of Ephesians, not to find it.

Speaker A:

We already have it.

Speaker A:

It's in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

Let's hang onto it.

Speaker A:

That's the goal.

Speaker A:

All right, so you have that.

Speaker A:

I do wanna remind you about buddies.

Speaker A:

People go, what do people.

Speaker A:

I don't get buddies.

Speaker A:

So here's the deal on buddies.

Speaker A:

When you're hearing something like, Brandy just called in, right?

Speaker A:

Or I mentioned Eric, you know, we've mentioned Jeanette, we've mentioned Angelina.

Speaker A:

We've mentioned different people at different times, and nobody's being left out.

Speaker A:

What I'm trying to get you to understand is when different names come up there, like JD going through his struggles or anybody else, or Brother Rodrigon, we want you to take that person on as a buddy and pray for them for the next week.

Speaker A:

And it's not like you have to spend nine hours praying.

Speaker A:

You can just pray for them.

Speaker A:

Paul said, I mention you to the Lord.

Speaker A:

Mention them to the Lord.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Get it.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

That's all good and good.

Speaker A:

So we've got that.

Speaker A:

Everybody on target with that.

Speaker A:

You can call, you can text, you can email, or you can sit back and listen.

Speaker A:

You're welcome to do whatever it is the Lord puts on your heart.

Speaker A:

We believe it's very important for people to do that which the Lord puts before them.

Speaker A:

That's ahead of everything else.

Speaker A:

We are picking it back up in 2 Peter 1:16.

Speaker A:

And I look at things a little differently, and I love some of these little reference points that the apostles make.

Speaker A:

It's very powerful.

Speaker A:

Here's what he says.

Speaker A:

And just catch this.

Speaker A:

Just beautiful.

Speaker A:

He says this in 2 Peter 1:16.

Speaker A:

For we did not follow cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Speaker A:

You read that and you go, whoa, whoa, that sounds really, you know, really cool.

Speaker A:

Listen, let me explain to you what Peter's talking about.

Speaker A:

I just want to make sure we're on the same page because it's just all too funny.

Speaker A:

All too funny.

Speaker A:

Okay, Peter is talking about Matthew 17.

Speaker A:

He's talking about Mark 9, he's talking about Luke 9.

Speaker A:

What is he talking about?

Speaker A:

He said, we did not follow cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Speaker A:

For all of those people who think that a fisherman can come up with such an elaborate story about Jesus Christ, I just want to show you that denial is not just a river in Egypt.

Speaker A:

Okay, get what I'm saying.

Speaker A:

So in the rest of verse 16, he mentions they were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Speaker A:

Hold on, we know what he's talking about.

Speaker A:

When Jesus revealed his majesty, people are like, that was at the Ascension.

Speaker A:

Nope.

Speaker A:

Oh, believe me, that was powerful.

Speaker A:

Don't get the wrong idea.

Speaker A:

But what he's talking about in the revelation of the majesty of Jesus Christ is the mount of Transfiguration, which took place in Matthew 17, Mark 9, Luke 9.

Speaker A:

It is right there that he's talking about.

Speaker A:

The mount of Transfiguration is not just some anomaly.

Speaker A:

It's much more than that.

Speaker A:

Jesus was transformed right before the eyes of the apostles.

Speaker A:

Peter, James and John were seeing something.

Speaker A:

I want to make sure you understand this, that they had no reference point to.

Speaker A:

There was no Sci fi back then as a reference point.

Speaker A:

There was no Sci fi channel movies, 3D, all this.

Speaker A:

That's not what was going on.

Speaker A:

And Jesus was transformed right in front of them.

Speaker A:

So put yourself back:

Speaker A:

Nothing like that.

Speaker A:

The only thing you've ever seen is lightning.

Speaker A:

And then you look at Jesus and he transforms.

Speaker A:

Right in front of you is so bright, brighter than the sun.

Speaker A:

And you are like going, what?

Speaker A:

Nobody had ever considered this level of existence yet, not in history.

Speaker A:

There stood Jesus, transfigured, by the way, with Moses and Elijah.

Speaker A:

It was though the three of them, get this.

Speaker A:

It was though the three of them were in another dimension.

Speaker A:

Uh huh.

Speaker A:

That's what he's talking about.

Speaker A:

He's like, we didn't follow cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Speaker A:

But we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

You mean to tell me that Jesus and Moses and Elijah were kind of like on this different plane, on this different level of existence?

Speaker A:

Yes, they were.

Speaker A:

And then what happens in verse 17?

Speaker A:

Look at what the apostle says.

Speaker A:

For he received honor and glory, referring to Jesus from God the Father, when the voice came to him from the majestic glory, saying, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

I mean, this is just lights out.

Speaker A:

I know not all you are sci fi fans, but come on, come on.

Speaker A:

So God the Father is speaking regarding God the Son in a voice that came to Jesus from what Peter called the majestic glory.

Speaker A:

What a name that is.

Speaker A:

How come we never give God the majestic glory?

Speaker A:

That's the name of the Father, the majestic glory.

Speaker A:

Isn't that great?

Speaker A:

I mean, that's a neat old title.

Speaker A:

But anyway, here's what I'm doing.

Speaker A:

He's talking about.

Speaker A:

He's referencing, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.

Speaker A:

God the Father is speaking about God the Son and telling him I am pleased.

Speaker A:

Now, at this point in ministry, because you're in Matthew 17, he's done quite a bit.

Speaker A:

So what we see is Jesus.

Speaker A:

He is setting the example.

Speaker A:

He is saying what the Father wants him to say, and he is doing what the Father wants him to do.

Speaker A:

And that, my friends, just by itself is the example set for you and I.

Speaker A:

So Peter, now remember, this epistle is probably about between 32 and 38 years after the Ascension, okay?

Speaker A:

And so he's writing this and he's going back now.

Speaker A:

He's going back a couple of years, 30 plus years.

Speaker A:

And he's reliving the event and talking about the Mount of Transfiguration.

Speaker A:

And he's like, you know what?

Speaker A:

We weren't following weird, goofy little fable things.

Speaker A:

We saw it.

Speaker A:

He transformed right in front of us, in the mouth of two or three witnesses.

Speaker A:

Let everything be established.

Speaker A:

Let every word be established.

Speaker A:

Let every testimony be established.

Speaker A:

Well, it was in front of three.

Speaker A:

Peter, James and John.

Speaker A:

And the witness was this dude turned so bright, nothing on earth could be that bright.

Speaker A:

Bright like the sun, brighter than any laundry could ever become.

Speaker A:

It's like, wow.

Speaker A:

Do you realize that we've talked about this when we're teaching in Matthew?

Speaker A:

The significance of that moment is just.

Speaker A:

It's outrageous.

Speaker A:

There's no other being that's had a moment like that.

Speaker A:

And that's what Peter's referring to.

Speaker A:

He's like, we didn't follow something goofy or weird.

Speaker A:

We saw it.

Speaker A:

And I'll tell you something about some of you that the Lord has done for you.

Speaker A:

He has done things that are majestic glory, like in answering prayers and in blessing you and in providing miracles that you never anticipated, giving you provisions you never thought could happen or bringing people back from the brink, which you never thought could happen.

Speaker A:

And he has done it time and time and time again.

Speaker A:

Not quite to this level.

Speaker A:

Hello.

Speaker A:

But he has done it so many times.

Speaker A:

The majestic glory has manifested his graciousness to you and to me.

Speaker A:

And we should be in awe because it is pretty cool.

Speaker A:

That is some great stuff.

Speaker A:

It's amazing that people get bored in this faith.

Speaker A:

The only thing I can say about that is they don't know the faith if they're bored in the faith.

Speaker A:

That's all I'm gonna say on that.

Speaker A:

All right, let's take a couple seconds here and get into our trivia question.

Speaker A:

It is not a complex one.

Speaker A:

Your answer's coming out of Genesis 2:21.

Speaker A:

When God took one of Adam's ribs to create Eve, what was Adam doing?

Speaker A:

Was he eating fruit?

Speaker A:

Was he telling the serpent to go away?

Speaker A:

Was he talking to God?

Speaker A:

Was he sleeping?

Speaker A:

Or was he playing ping pong?

Speaker A:

That's the question.

Speaker A:

When God took one of Adam's ribs to create Eve, what was Adam doing at the time?

Speaker A:

Was he eating fruit, telling the serpent to go away, talking with the Lord, sleeping or playing ping pong?

Speaker A:

That's your question.

Speaker A:

The reference point Genesis chapter 2, verse 21.

Speaker A:

If you think you know, you can reach out to us.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Davidemustincrease.org, going to send you up to the website as we often do.

Speaker A:

And keep it this simple, folks.

Speaker A:

It's a ministry.

Speaker A:

We depend on your donations and we need your help.

Speaker A:

There you go.

Speaker A:

That's it.

Speaker A:

Check it out on the website.

Speaker A:

He must Increase prayer request hemosincrease.org praise report he must increase.org looking to give to this ministry.

Speaker A:

Confused by what's happening right now.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org he must increase.org oh I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

Still going.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Anyway, I love that.

Speaker A:

It's just cheery.

Speaker A:

I don't care.

Speaker A:

I'm telling we heard that shark one the other day.

Speaker A:

Or the Sweep the leg.

Speaker A:

Sweep the leg.

Speaker A:

Those are not cheery.

Speaker A:

Sweep the leg.

Speaker A:

Do you have a problem with that?

Speaker A:

No, sensei.

Speaker A:

That's not fun.

Speaker A:

So you prefer the more positive?

Speaker A:

I do, I must confess.

Speaker A:

Although I do like Jaws because it does remind me caution is a good thing.

Speaker A:

I saw the 50th anniversary I believe is coming up and they're putting it back in theaters.

Speaker A:

That's cool.

Speaker A:

That is awesome.

Speaker A:

I remember watching that movie.

Speaker A:

I remember my best friend at the time screaming right at me, going like, oi, yai yai.

Speaker A:

You know, everything.

Speaker A:

Food going everywhere.

Speaker A:

Anyway, let's carry on.

Speaker A:

We do have somebody ready to answer the trivia question.

Speaker A:

Let's go ahead and send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker B:

This is Brandon.

Speaker A:

Hey, Brandon, how you doing?

Speaker A:

Going for two, are you?

Speaker A:

Yes, sir.

Speaker A:

All right, let's set it up for you.

Speaker A:

Here we go.

Speaker A:

Just keeping it as simple as we can.

Speaker A:

I'll give you the whole question and all the answers, and then you tell me what it is.

Speaker A:

When God took one of Adam's ribs to create Eve, what was Adam doing?

Speaker A:

Was he eating fruit, telling the serpent to go away?

Speaker A:

Talking with God, Sleeping or playing ping pong?

Speaker B:

He was sleeping.

Speaker A:

That is correct.

Speaker A:

Amanda, sir, excellent job.

Speaker A:

That is right.

Speaker A:

And that's.

Speaker A:

It was the Lord that kind of put him in that deep sleep.

Speaker A:

Otherwise.

Speaker A:

That had been kind of an interesting scenario, but yeah, and I don't think ping pong was available quite yet.

Speaker A:

I don't think it was there yet.

Speaker A:

So excellent job and excellent answer, and we appreciate that, bro.

Speaker B:

Well, thank you.

Speaker A:

All right, God bless you.

Speaker B:

You too.

Speaker A:

Bye bye.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Fun, fun.

Speaker A:

Don't you love it?

Speaker A:

It's fun, right?

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, now let's go back to the text.

Speaker A:

It's fun, but it's truth, and truth is important.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Let's go back to the text because I just got you.

Speaker A:

You got to hear this.

Speaker A:

So we're at verse 17 of 2 Peter, chapter 1.

Speaker A:

And he says this.

Speaker A:

For he received honor and glory from the Father when the voice came from him, from the majestic glory, saying, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Speaker A:

Verse 18.

Speaker A:

And we ourselves heard this voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

Speaker A:

That's how you know it's the Mount of Transfiguration.

Speaker A:

By the way he's talking about the holy mountain.

Speaker A:

But look what happens.

Speaker A:

Peter is giving validation to the experience because Peter, James, and John not only saw, but they heard what was spoken.

Speaker A:

They heard God's voice speaking.

Speaker A:

They knew it wasn't thunder.

Speaker A:

They knew exactly what he said.

Speaker A:

Because what God the Father said was this.

Speaker A:

This is my son.

Speaker A:

Listen to him, giving him priority.

Speaker A:

Get ready over Moses and Elijah, over the law and the prophets.

Speaker A:

And they knew when this took place, they were on the holy mountain of God.

Speaker A:

Now, to me, because I'm a little bit Weird.

Speaker A:

It's interesting that Moses had his experience with God on the mountain and Elijah had his experience in the mountain with God.

Speaker A:

So now Peter, James, and John are also having their mountain experience with God, with Jesus Christ on the mountain.

Speaker A:

It's just a very cool connection.

Speaker A:

And I love little things like that because it just reminds me that God is actually weaving.

Speaker A:

He's doing things that people don't even see.

Speaker A:

We've talked about this before, but when you're doing any kind of needlepoint, if you look at the picture in the front where you're doing the needle point, there's a beautiful little picture or a soft, little cute picture, and all the colors are there and it all looks really nice.

Speaker A:

And then you do the needle point.

Speaker A:

But if you look at it from the underneath side, all the yarn is like all over the place.

Speaker A:

Different colors, different lengths.

Speaker A:

It looks goofy.

Speaker A:

It doesn't make any sense.

Speaker A:

It makes sense when you look at it from the front, but not from underneath.

Speaker A:

Well, when we're looking at our lives, we tend to see it on the underneath part while God is looking at the picture.

Speaker A:

And it's just like, that's just so fascinating because the Lord knows exactly where everything needs to go in the framework of our lives.

Speaker A:

So Peter is making excuse, kind of a minor defense.

Speaker A:

It's not a major theological defense.

Speaker A:

It's more of a minor experiential defense going, look what we did in following Jesus.

Speaker A:

This wasn't like a fluke.

Speaker A:

It wasn't something that came up.

Speaker A:

We saw what happened with this guy.

Speaker A:

We saw it on the mountain.

Speaker A:

It changed all of us.

Speaker A:

And it did change all of them.

Speaker A:

It changed them so much that 35 years later, Peter is writing about it.

Speaker A:

That's how much it changed him.

Speaker A:

And you know what?

Speaker A:

The truth is, I just kind of want to say this and be careful.

Speaker A:

A lot of you have had certain engagements with God, almost mountaintop experiences.

Speaker A:

And then what we do is we tend to forget.

Speaker A:

And then we just move on in what we're existing in now.

Speaker A:

There are things that you should forget, things that pull you down, things that wound you, things that disturb, distract you from the Lord.

Speaker A:

Those should not be held onto.

Speaker A:

But when the Lord has done something magnificent, you should absolutely hold onto it.

Speaker A:

And Peter, 30 plus years later, is writing about it like it just happened, which is a great testimony for you and I to stand firm when we've had those engagements with God and to remember them.

Speaker A:

Because in every one of those mountaintop experiences, he has made himself known even that much more to Us.

Speaker A:

Isn't that just amazing?

Speaker A:

And we should log that right.

Speaker A:

Our Jesus journal.

Speaker A:

Right, Right.

Speaker A:

All right, folks, we are going to take a short break right here.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truce station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break.

Speaker A:

We'll be back.

Speaker C:

Who is David Spoon?

Speaker C:

I have no idea.

Speaker C:

People have asked me about the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker C:

They wanted to know what I thought of him.

Speaker C:

Like any person searching for answers, I have wondered about him.

Speaker C:

He was born and raised Jewish and after intense drug use, became a Christian.

Speaker C:

He's married to his best friend Noel, has three children, six grandchildren and a dog named Bert.

Speaker C:

He has three separate ordinations from three different denominations and is a summa cum laude for his BA Degree in ministry and leadership, as well as a master's degree of theological Studies and has his doctorate of Strategic Christian Ministry.

Speaker C:

He has a weird sense of humor and talks a lot.

Speaker C:

If people are seeking wisdom and insight from the great teachers around the world, would they go to David?

Speaker C:

No, I don't think so.

Speaker C:

And those big ears really don't help him.

Speaker C:

But would they enjoy his perspective on life, culture, politics, food, sports, local and national news?

Speaker C:

I don't know.

Speaker C:

I guess people will have to listen to find out.

Speaker A:

Job, I want to read job 3:25.

Speaker A:

I don't want anybody look at.

Speaker A:

I know that the teachings in the church and being a Baptist, somebody who's got a Baptist ordination, a Pentecostal ordination, somebody who understands what Kalmanian means, understands what the manifold millennial list is.

Speaker A:

I get it.

Speaker A:

I really do.

Speaker A:

I've been around for a little while.

Speaker A:

When you're hearing scripture, you don't have to put all the scriptures you hear in certain boxes so they fit your motif of a theology.

Speaker A:

Sometimes you can just look at it and observe it and go right for it and review it.

Speaker A:

And job 3:25, one of the things that Job said is what I feared has come upon me, what I dreaded has happened to me.

Speaker A:

There's a whole teaching on.

Speaker A:

That's because your confession wasn't good.

Speaker A:

I don't think that had anything to do with it.

Speaker A:

I think God was bragging about Job to Satan.

Speaker A:

Job didn't know that was going on.

Speaker A:

That's obvious.

Speaker A:

But there he is.

Speaker A:

God's bragging about him.

Speaker A:

And what Job is like going is like, this is the worst thing that I could think of.

Speaker A:

And that happens to people.

Speaker A:

Believers, good believers, great believers, fantastic believers, lousy believers and everybody else.

Speaker A:

It's something that takes place sometimes bad things come about in the process.

Speaker A:

That doesn't mean that God hates you.

Speaker A:

That doesn't.

Speaker A:

First of all, the world has rebelled against God and lies in wickedness.

Speaker A:

So it's not God's fault that the world said, we'll run this planet without you.

Speaker A:

We'll let you know.

Speaker A:

I mean, that's not God's fault.

Speaker A:

He's not the one that did that.

Speaker A:

People did that.

Speaker A:

And so the idea to understand is sometimes these tough things happen.

Speaker A:

The great thing to know is that God has not left and went to Pluto while you're going through these things.

Speaker A:

In this particular case, in Job, it was completely the opposite of what Job thought, because God was bragging about him, and Job thought he was in some kind of trouble or some kind of judgment.

Speaker A:

Hey, guess what?

Speaker A:

Job was wrong.

Speaker A:

Something else was going on altogether, which is often the case.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
