03-03-2025 part 2: Trusting God's Plan: The Significance of His No
Life-altering insights can be gleaned from the profound understanding that, at times, the divine response is a resounding "no." Dr. David Spoon elucidates this critical concept through an examination of Abraham's dialogue with God, highlighting that human impatience and misunderstanding often lead to misguided attempts to dictate the terms of divine promises. The episode delves into the implications of God's refusals, emphasizing that such denials can serve a greater purpose than we might initially comprehend. By embracing the notion that "no" can be an answer rich with significance, we may transform our approach to faith and expectations. Ultimately, we are encouraged to trust in the divine timing and methodology, recognizing that our understanding is limited, yet our faith can be unwavering.
A profound examination of the complexities inherent in human faith and divine promise emerges from the narrative of Abram as presented in Genesis 15. Abram's poignant query to God, questioning the value of blessings amid a lack of offspring, encapsulates a fundamental human struggle: the tension between divine assurances and earthly realities. This episode intricately dissects Abram's misinterpretation of God's methods, as he contemplates designating Eleazar of Damascus as his heir, demonstrating a momentary lapse in faith and understanding. The conversation delves deeply into the implications of God's reply, 'No,' emphasizing that divine plans often transcend human expectations and timelines. By drawing parallels between Abram's journey and our own, the episode invites listeners to reflect on their own faith journeys, encouraging a mindset of trust in God's overarching plan, even when confronted with uncertainty and delay. Ultimately, it serves as a reminder that faith requires patience, and that the fulfillment of divine promises may manifest in ways that defy human comprehension.
Takeaways:
- Dr. David Spoon elucidates the profound truth that God's answers are not always affirmative, emphasizing that sometimes the divine response is a resounding 'NO'.
- The journey of Abram serves as a pivotal illustration of faith, wherein he grapples with God's promises while questioning the absence of a son to inherit those blessings.
- It is crucial for believers to recognize that God's methods and timing may diverge from human expectations, warranting trust and patience in His divine plan.
- The statement 'No' from God is not a rejection but rather a redirection towards a more profound understanding of His will and purpose for our lives.

And now for something completely different.
Speaker A:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.
Speaker A:It's marvelous, monumental, most fascinating, massively mind bending Monday as we join our hearts and minds as one, drawing closer to the king of kings and glorifying his name first.
Speaker A:We pick it back up in Genesis 15:2.
Speaker A:And you cannot miss how absolutely outrageous this is.
Speaker A:God told Abram what was going to happen.
Speaker A:But Abram shot back with what good are your blessings if I don't have a kid?
Speaker A:He wasn't trying to say that his child was more important to God.
Speaker A:He was saying that if he was going to have offspring, he needed to have a child first.
Speaker A:But Abe didn't understand God's methods.
Speaker A:So next, Abram jumps to a whole new level of not brilliant when he says, since I don't have a son, how about Eleazar of Damascus?
Speaker A:He's a servant in my household.
Speaker A:He can inherit everything I have, can't he?
Speaker A:He can be my heir.
Speaker A:Guess what?
Speaker A:That is the right word.
Speaker A:But from Abram, the wrong spelling because Abram's error.
Speaker A:E, R, R, O, R, not H, E, I, R.
Speaker A:He was thinking the wrong way.
Speaker A:God made me a promise.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker A:Nothing's happened so far, so wow.
Speaker A:Hey, why don't we take the promise of God and just put it over there?
Speaker A:That way we can make God legit.
Speaker A:God doesn't need our help to make his promises legit.
Speaker A:And finally, God takes Abram to task, telling him this outstanding, powerful, life changing word that can affect each and every one of us on a regular daily basis.
Speaker A:Ready?
Speaker A:Be prepared.
Speaker A:This is the word that can change your life.
Speaker A:It will change your mindset.
Speaker A:Here it is.
Speaker A:It can change your heart.
Speaker A:Do you know what this word is?
Speaker A:It's called no.
Speaker A:The answer is a no.
Speaker A:Not a chance.
Speaker A:Not happening.
Speaker A:Not going to happen.
Speaker A:God says from time to time, no.
Speaker A:And we need to go.
Speaker A:Okay, you get that?
Speaker B:David Spoon's life has been an experience.
Speaker B:While growing up in a Jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.
Speaker B:Then David Spoon found Jesus Christ and his life completely changed.
Speaker B:The more he studied the gospel, the more he wanted to share his experience experiences with others.
Speaker B:After 35 years of ministry, David discovered a new path of service.
Speaker B:He joined KAAM and this radio program began.
Speaker B:You're about to hear the David Spoon Experience.
Speaker A:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
Speaker A:Local, national and heavenly talk.
Speaker A:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.
Speaker A:Lessons for surviving living and prevailing politics, Entertainment and current events.
Speaker A:Personal revelations, spiritual observations.
Speaker A:My life's insanities nyve so much more.
Speaker A:Now remember, it's not professional radio.
Speaker A:It's just radio.
Speaker A:And I may have used this one in the past, but I just decided it's a good one because last time I used one, our very own Jim and Jacob was like, I have no idea what you're talking about.
Speaker A:So I'm going to try and do one that's a little more in your error right on your timeframe.
Speaker A:Ready?
Speaker A:We're gonna ask the inspector Gadget of professional radio.
Speaker A:Now, I assume you know, I know you didn't know Touche turtle, but Inspector gadget, I just got to think you got to know that one.
Speaker A:That's what I'm going to go with.
Speaker A:We're asking the inspector gadget is the David Spoon experience professional radio.
Speaker C:No, it is not David.
Speaker C:And good news, I do know who Inspector Gadget is.
Speaker A:There you go.
Speaker A:There you go.
Speaker A:C See, I still laugh at the Touche Turtle or the Captain Caveman.
Speaker A:It's just so good.
Speaker A:I got so many other ones.
Speaker A:We'll get to them.
Speaker C:So I, I looked up Captain Caveman and I, I have, I have seen before may maybe in like growing up and like maybe it was on one day, but I, I feel like I have seen him before.
Speaker C:Captain Caveman.
Speaker A:Yeah, he sees been in some of the medleys when they have all of the characters together.
Speaker A:So would you ever see any of those two?
Speaker A:They'll show him.
Speaker A:He's just a big hairy guy.
Speaker C:Okay, that might have been what it was.
Speaker A:That's right, folks.
Speaker A:We try to enjoy that.
Speaker A:So just stick with us on this.
Speaker A:Bottom line is this.
Speaker A:It's not professional radio.
Speaker A:What I figured out is the reason that I have to buy radio time and do ministry is because I am this way.
Speaker A:This is what I figured out.
Speaker A:Because of that we just do the best we can with what we have.
Speaker A:Doing one thing, continually trying to get closer to the Lord.
Speaker A:That's what we do.
Speaker A:So it's very simple.
Speaker A:What you are encouraged to do is you are encouraged to.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Seven, seven, zero.
Speaker A:Now, when you email or when you text or when you call, but specifically when you call, you will end up talking to our very own Jammin Jacob.
Speaker A:Talking to Jam and Jacob.
Speaker A:Well, that is like knowing that your spiritual radio family has your back.
Speaker A:That's so sweet.
Speaker C:Thank you, David.
Speaker C:Happy Monday.
Speaker A:Happy Monday to you, my friend.
Speaker A:So far, a lot of fun Funday Monday.
Speaker A:Not a bum day Monday, but a fun day Monday.
Speaker C:It's definitely a fun day Monday so far.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I gotta say one thing.
Speaker A:So we were at church yesterday and we're gonna get into the things we're gonna offer you in a second.
Speaker A:But I was in church today and so Pastor Richard Norris, he's the pastor of Eagle Point Church, and he just said this one thing.
Speaker A:He was talking about people that kind of misuse the word.
Speaker A:And he said they kind of operate in a bad theology.
Speaker A:And I was think that after he said it kind of resonated with my mind knowing that that's true.
Speaker A:But I came up with something a little different than he did.
Speaker A:I didn't want to say anything to him because he was pastor.
Speaker A:And after you do a church service, you're just trying to deflate and stuff.
Speaker A:But I realized in my own brain it's not even that people have a bad theology.
Speaker A:You know what?
Speaker A:Some people have a sad theology.
Speaker A:That's what they have.
Speaker A:Because it puts them at the disadvantage.
Speaker A:Some of those, I just think that was really good.
Speaker A:It's like, oh, I like that.
Speaker A:You know, I don't want to say heretical.
Speaker A:It's a sad theology.
Speaker A:I like that.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Anyway, why in the world would you reach out to.
Speaker A:Why would you do that?
Speaker A:Why would you email us?
Speaker A:Why would you text us?
Speaker A:Why would you call us?
Speaker A:It could be for a praise report.
Speaker A:Because we love praise reports.
Speaker A:We do.
Speaker A:They're blessings.
Speaker A:Could be for a prayer request.
Speaker A:The opportunity to fulfill Galatians 6:2, which talks about bearing one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ, referring to your brother or sister, that's your family in Christ.
Speaker A:The Bible says, do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith.
Speaker A:There you go.
Speaker A:There's a little bit of caveat there.
Speaker A:Especially those who are your brothers and sisters.
Speaker A:They might have a different background, they may think differently, they might have come to the faith differently than you.
Speaker A:But they love Jesus and you're going to be hanging out together for a long, long time.
Speaker A:So we want to be a blessing to those people, don't we?
Speaker A:That's our brother and our Sister.
Speaker A:So maybe it could be a prayer request, maybe a praise report, maybe something you just want to share.
Speaker A:It can be any of that.
Speaker A:Maybe it's even an answer to Bible trivia, which we like doing because it keeps the Bible at the forefront of our thoughts.
Speaker A:Okay, this is not difficult.
Speaker A:And you should get this.
Speaker A:What Egyptian official had Joseph as a servant?
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Genesis 39.
Speaker A:What Egyptian official had Joseph as a servant?
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Additionally, you can send an email davidemustincrease.org by the way, Aunt Deb, that was an excellent connection on the fill connecting it to the back part of the 30.
Speaker A:I just thought I'd say that on the air you were 100% correct.
Speaker A:In the meantime, I'm gonna do our DNA because I think DNA is more important than what I do or anything that I could ever come up with because it's about you and God, and that's more important than this show.
Speaker A:D Draw closer to the Lord daily.
Speaker A:You know what?
Speaker A:It's not even that complex.
Speaker A:You need to spend time with God.
Speaker A:You need to spend time in prayer.
Speaker A:So that you're communing now.
Speaker A:Again, he doesn't need your info.
Speaker A:He's not like, going, I didn't realize that.
Speaker A:He just wants you and your heart to be with him.
Speaker A:That's how much he loves you.
Speaker A:He already knows everything you're going to ask.
Speaker A:Sometimes he answers before you ask, but he wants you with him on your end.
Speaker A:Draw near to God.
Speaker A:James 4, 8, and he will draw near to you.
Speaker A:So through prayer, through the Word.
Speaker A:Oh, come on.
Speaker A:The word of God.
Speaker A:What God has to say.
Speaker A:God created the universe.
Speaker A:He can write a book.
Speaker A:Okay, cool.
Speaker A:Got it.
Speaker A:Got it.
Speaker A:And through fellowship, through ministry, through different service attitudes, using your time, treasure and talent all to connect.
Speaker A:That's what God wants.
Speaker A:He wants you.
Speaker A:It's all said and done.
Speaker A:It's not your money.
Speaker A:He wants wants.
Speaker A:It's not your car, it's not your house, not your clothing.
Speaker A:He wants your heart.
Speaker A:That's what he wants.
Speaker A:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
Speaker A:D N Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
Speaker A:You just cannot believe.
Speaker A:I'm in absolute, utter mis.
Speaker A:I'm shocked that in Scotland, if you did not hear.
Speaker A:If somebody walks by your house and you're praying in your house, you could actually be arrested if it offends them.
Speaker A:You think it's not happening.
Speaker A:You're wrong.
Speaker A:There's a very small little gap that's protecting us and will.
Speaker A:So until the time is up, get it?
Speaker A:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
Speaker A:In Luke 9:26, Jesus said, if you're ashamed of me or my words, I'll be ashamed of you.
Speaker A:Like, yeah, Nope.
Speaker A:Those other people, those other world systems, those other governments, they don't have a heaven to put me in.
Speaker A:No government has a heaven to put you in.
Speaker A:Jesus does.
Speaker A:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
Speaker A:A Always be ready.
Speaker C:To serve.
Speaker A:To serve.
Speaker A:There's the on button.
Speaker A:Listen, you're not doing Christianity because it's a great add on to the American life.
Speaker A:This is not like, oh, I had a great meal, I need an apple pie.
Speaker A:Not that I'm knocking apple pie.
Speaker A:Don't misunderstand what I'm trying to communicate.
Speaker A:All desserts are good.
Speaker A:That's not my point.
Speaker A:My point is simply this.
Speaker A:This is something that the Lord calls upon us to have a heart and a mind that is geared towards the heavenlies that our citizenship.
Speaker A:Perhaps we should all read Hebrews 11, 13, 16 which says that our hearts that we are people of a new city.
Speaker A:We're looking for a building in the city whose maker is God.
Speaker A:We want the new.
Speaker A:And before you're a citizen of the earth, you need to be a citizen of heaven.
Speaker A:Because the earth is going to pass away, but the new heavens and the new earth will endure forever.
Speaker A:And only those who are citizens of heaven now are going to get in there and it's going to come through Jesus.
Speaker A:So we need to be laying up treasures in heaven.
Speaker A:We need to be considering as much as we can to be so heavenly minded.
Speaker A:We are of no earthly good because in that context earthly good is a waste and not be a part of the pollution of the land.
Speaker A:Which by the way, God says specifically is the spilling of innocent blood.
Speaker A:Innocent blood.
Speaker A:Not an age there.
Speaker A:Innocent blood.
Speaker A:Get it?
Speaker A:Always be ready to serve the king.
Speaker A:The King of the universe who has called you, created you, given you life, given you every day.
Speaker A:He gives you the gift of your breath every day.
Speaker A:So we need to honor him every day.
Speaker A:Always ready to do whatever is before us.
Speaker A:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
Speaker A:A Always be ready to serve.
Speaker A:What Egyptian official had Joseph as a servant?
Speaker A:According to Genesis 39 what Egyptian official had Joseph as a servant?
Speaker A: -: Speaker A:She needs a lot of wisdom.
Speaker A:Let's just pray for her briefly.
Speaker A:Father, we lift up Joy Ann to you who's got a situation.
Speaker A:She doesn't know what to do, and she wants to honor you in your name, but she needs your help.
Speaker A:And you tell us if you lack wisdom, ask.
Speaker A:So that's what we're doing.
Speaker A:We're asking you to give her your wisdom and guide her steps in her situation and make it clear what you desire of her.
Speaker A:She is before you first and responds to you first.
Speaker A:We pray you would make that your desire and your intent and your direction clear so she knows how to take the next step.
Speaker A:Pray that in Jesus name, amen and amen.
Speaker A:Back to the text we go.
Speaker A:Genesis, chapter 15, verse 2.
Speaker A:And I am going to take.
Speaker A:This is so much fun to me because it's so, so, so absolutely you.
Speaker A:And I see, when I read texts, I find it amazing.
Speaker A:People will read texts.
Speaker A:And instead of feeling bad about it, I go, well, that just proves I'm one of yours.
Speaker A:When I look at the apostles and they don't have faith, I'm like, see, I'm one of the people of God.
Speaker A:I often don't have faith, too.
Speaker A:Oh, sure, I want to do better.
Speaker A:But it also helps me identify with these people and all that they're going through.
Speaker A:So here in verse 2 of Genesis 15, Abraham says this.
Speaker A:And it's just so.
Speaker A:It's more than just fascinating.
Speaker A:It's incredible.
Speaker A:Abraham replies to God.
Speaker A:Oh, Abram replies to God, O sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don't even have a son?
Speaker A:This is so unbelievable.
Speaker A:What good are all your blessings?
Speaker A:See, God made him this promise, right?
Speaker A:What's the promise?
Speaker A:The promise was pretty straightforward.
Speaker A:Right out of you is going to become a nation of people.
Speaker A:The numbers are incredible.
Speaker A:It'll be fantastic.
Speaker A:It'll be way beyond what you could see.
Speaker A:It'll be more than the stars in the sky that you can see.
Speaker A:And people are like, there's stars in the sky.
Speaker A:And at that time of the year, it was like this.
Speaker A:It's like, what a bunch of ridiculous perceptions those people have.
Speaker A:God is telling Abram, listen, all these people are faithful.
Speaker A:Technically, they're going to be your offspring.
Speaker A:That's billions and billions, by the way.
Speaker A:And so here Abraham's like, you can't miss it.
Speaker A:It's just so amazing.
Speaker A:It's just so amazing.
Speaker A:We're just like Abraham because God said we're going to have.
Speaker A:It's all going to happen.
Speaker A:And Abraham's like, what good are your blessings if I don't have a kid?
Speaker A:For all those people that thought everything Abraham said was perfect, that would be ridiculous.
Speaker A:Okay?
Speaker A:That would be just absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker A:Just listen, listen.
Speaker A:Here's Abraham.
Speaker A:What good are your blessings?
Speaker A:He wasn't trying to say, and I want to make sure you understand this, the kid was more important than God.
Speaker A:He was trying to say if he was going to have offspring, he needed to have a child first.
Speaker A:And what God was trying to tell Abraham and what Abraham was still growing in is this.
Speaker A:And you ought to write this down.
Speaker A:Abraham didn't understand God's methodology.
Speaker A:How many times have we said it's not up to us on how God answers or when God answers.
Speaker A:The timing and the method of answers to prayers are outside of us.
Speaker A:So stop telling God how to do it.
Speaker A:Lord, I need this as an end result.
Speaker A:Well, if he gets you there doing an end round or an above ground or a below ground or whatever, who cares?
Speaker A:He knows what the best method is.
Speaker A:He knows what the best timing is.
Speaker A:And you can't tell me this was not a moment where Abraham was like, what good are these?
Speaker A:What good are these blessings?
Speaker A:I don't even have any kids.
Speaker A:What good is a brisket sandwich if I don't have a plate and a napkin and a fork and a knife?
Speaker A:That's kind of what he's saying.
Speaker A:What good is this pie?
Speaker A:My arms are broken.
Speaker A:I can't do anything but stick my face.
Speaker A:He's like, he's complaining about God going to do something amazing.
Speaker A:That's a little bit of you and me.
Speaker A:Maybe we should stop doing that.
Speaker A:Maybe it's that trust thing.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:Always seems like that trust thing comes into play, doesn't it?
Speaker A:Who was the Egyptian officer who had Joseph as a servant?
Speaker A:And your answer is?
Speaker A:Potiphar.
Speaker A:Potiphar.
Speaker A:Genesis 39.
Speaker A:Take a short break and then come back.
Speaker A:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.

Speaker A:And then I get in here and it's just like zing, zing.
Speaker A:You know, it's like, it's little.
Speaker A:It's like, it's like a really good dessert that you're like is gone.
Speaker A:That's how it feels.
Speaker A:I've been having good desserts lately, so I'm sure they have a hard time.
Speaker C:You make yourself a bowl of ice cream and then you look down, you're like, oh, it's gone, it's gone.
Speaker A:What happened?
Speaker A:Anyway, here's your next trivia question.
Speaker A:This is an interesting trivia question.
Speaker A:You guys need to think about this.
Speaker A:Not a trick one, but it is an interesting one.
Speaker A:I do want to commend Shel.
Speaker A:He was going to call in and answer the trivia question again a second time.
Speaker A:And that's the right heart, but we always do the one time call a show thing.
Speaker A:So there was also the right restraint.
Speaker A:See, Shell, that's how I tell you.
Speaker A:I just tell you directly on the air.
Speaker A:Wasn't that funny?
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Who sent two of his servants to fetch Peter from ippa?
Speaker A:Who sent two of his servants to fetch Peter from Yappa?
Speaker A:Acts 10, 7, 8 who sent two of his servants to fetch peter from Yappa?
Speaker A:Acts 10,7,8?
Speaker A:If you think you know the answer, you are welcome to call.
Speaker A:And you know, if in fact you don't get there, we always help people get there.
Speaker A:That's just how it works.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Or send an email David at He must increase.
Speaker A:Okay, pretty straightforward question.
Speaker A:Who sent two of his servants to fetch Peter from Yappa?
Speaker A:Acts 10, 7, 8.
Speaker A:Acts 10:7, 8.
Speaker A:Let me say it this way, for those of you that are not Jewish.
Speaker A:This guy was pretty important.
Speaker A:Okay, I'll just leave that there.
Speaker A:Okay, I am going to do these two jokes.
Speaker A:That's right.
Speaker A:I'm actually changing it up because I think these two jokes are brilliant.
Speaker A:And you may use these with anybody you want.
Speaker A:There are two of them.
Speaker A:This just has to do with families and issues.
Speaker A:It's very, very funny.
Speaker A:I'm gonna tell you right now.
Speaker A:You ready?
Speaker A:You feel me?
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker C:I have high expectations.
Speaker A:I think you should.
Speaker A:Mr.
Speaker A:And Mrs.
Speaker A:Roberts had reached the airport just in the nick of time to catch the plane for their vacation in the Bahamas.
Speaker A:I wish we brought the piano with us, said Mr.
Speaker A:Roberts.
Speaker A:Why on earth would we bring the piano with us?
Speaker A:Asked his wife.
Speaker A:Because I left the tickets on it.
Speaker A:Come on.
Speaker A:Not bad, right?
Speaker A:Left the tickets.
Speaker A:This, however, this is gold.
Speaker A:A teenager told his father, there's trouble with the car.
Speaker A:It has water in the carburetor.
Speaker A:The father looked confused and said, water in the carburetor?
Speaker A:That's ridiculous.
Speaker A:The son insisted, the car has water in the carburetor.
Speaker A:It has water in the carburetor.
Speaker A:The father started to get a little agitated.
Speaker A:You don't even know what a carburetor is, he said.
Speaker A:I'll check it out for you.
Speaker A:Where's the car?
Speaker A:The son responded, in the pool.
Speaker A:How good was that?
Speaker C:That second one?
Speaker C:I knew where you were going with.
Speaker A:It, but it's in the pool.
Speaker A:I love that.
Speaker A:That's that old joke.
Speaker A:Oh, honey, I got the car.
Speaker A:The car ended up in the dining room.
Speaker A:How did it get in the dining room?
Speaker A:I took a left at the kitchen.
Speaker A:All right?
Speaker A:Just leave me alone.
Speaker A:Your trivia question is.
Speaker A:So this person's very significant because this was just for those that don't know.
Speaker A:This was the outpouring of.
Speaker A:Of the Holy Spirit on the Gentile nations.
Speaker A:This is why this is really, really important for you to know.
Speaker A:So who was it that sent for Peter?
Speaker A:And remember, when Peter preached this message, the Holy Spirit fell on them as he was preaching Acts 10, 7, 8.
Speaker A:Who was the person that sent for Peter?
Speaker A:That's your question.
Speaker A:If you think you know.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:And I'm telling you, I am not trying to share this with you because I do this, right?
Speaker A:But the exact opposite.
Speaker A:I am sharing this with you because I need to hear this.
Speaker A:Does that help people?
Speaker A:I don't know if it helps you or not.
Speaker A:It helps me.
Speaker A:Abraham replied, O sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don't even have a son?
Speaker A:Just kind of a little bit of a snarky thing, right?
Speaker A:Not the most.
Speaker A:Since I don't have a son.
Speaker A:Since I don't have a son.
Speaker A:Eleazar of Damascus, a servant in my household will inherit all my wealth.
Speaker A:You've given me no children, so one of my servants will have to be my heir.
Speaker A:So Abram moves from what?
Speaker A:What good are all your blessings to you know what?
Speaker A:You know what, God?
Speaker A:Listen, we're going to use Eleazar of Damascus now.
Speaker A:He's a servant in my household, but he's going to inherit all my wealth because you haven't given me any kids.
Speaker A:So one of my servants is going to have to be my heir.
Speaker A:What's amazing about this is, number one, the audacity.
Speaker A:It is unbelievable.
Speaker A:Not only is he mad because he doesn't understand God's method, he's also mad because.
Speaker A:And don't tell me he's not mad.
Speaker A:You got to be ridiculous to read that and not see this.
Speaker A:He's also mad because he's like, I'm just going to have to give this to one of the people in my household because I don't have any kids.
Speaker A:And that's just the way we're going to solve it.
Speaker A:That attitude right there, that one right there, that's what I'm talking about for you and I when he says this, one of my servants is just going to have to be my heir.
Speaker A:It's going to have to be somebody in my household.
Speaker A:It can't be my son because I don't have a son.
Speaker A:We're going to give it to Eliezer because he's my servant and nice guy, Eleazar of Damascus.
Speaker A:And we're just going to, you know, we're going to give it to him.
Speaker A:He's going to inherit my wealth.
Speaker A:That's how it's going to go.
Speaker A:And that is what you and I do.
Speaker A:And don't tell me you don't do it, because if you do, the next message is, thou shalt not bear false witness.
Speaker A:And how.
Speaker A:God doesn't like a lying tongue.
Speaker A:Here is the truth.
Speaker A:When we can't figure out what God's method is, we often tell God how it's going to go.
Speaker A:Well, then I'm going to do this.
Speaker A:Just don't just own it.
Speaker A:Don't remember what we say.
Speaker A:When you know something that's true, just own it.
Speaker A:He's not going to sit there and hit you in the head with it.
Speaker A:Just own it.
Speaker A:We tell God it's going to happen this way.
Speaker A:So I want you to catch this.
Speaker A:I want you to understand this.
Speaker A:He takes his position to a whole new level after the first line.
Speaker A:I don't have a son.
Speaker A:How about Eliezer of Damascus?
Speaker A:He's a servant.
Speaker F:He's a.
Speaker A:He can inherit everything.
Speaker A:He can be my heir.
Speaker A:So what Abraham is doing is saying, well, God made me a promise.
Speaker A:Nothing's happening so far.
Speaker A:So, hey, why don't we just take the promise of God and put it in a place where I can understand.
Speaker A:That way I can make it legitimate for God.
Speaker A:That's what Abram's doing.
Speaker A:God doesn't need our help to become legitimate.
Speaker A:We need his help to become less stupid.
Speaker A:So not only is he mad because he doesn't have kids, now he's telling God how the promise is going to get fulfilled.
Speaker A:He moves past the methodology to taking control.
Speaker A:Isn't that hilarious?
Speaker A:Don't tell me we don't do that.
Speaker A:Don't tell me we don't do that.
Speaker A:He's like, I'm going to give it to this kid.
Speaker A:That's how we're going to do it.
Speaker A:You think God's up there going, okay, we'll just do it the way you said.
Speaker A:And when we say that to God, you think God's up there going, okay, I'll just do it the way you said.
Speaker A:Negative, right?
Speaker A:Negative.
Speaker A:All right, back to the trivia question.
Speaker A:Who sent two servants to fetch Peter from Yapa?
Speaker A:Acts 10, 7, 8.
Speaker A:That's Cornelius.
Speaker A:Remember Cornelius had the vision?
Speaker A:He was told to send for Peter.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And then the Gospel got poured out on the Gentiles as well.
Speaker A:Acts, chapter 10.
Speaker A:That is the key to that one.
Speaker A:And shall never be.
Speaker A:Never be hesitant to text me.
Speaker A:I love it when you text.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:See, sometimes I can be.
Speaker A:I need to be softer, like Dove soap or something.
Speaker A:All right, we'll take a short break, and then we'll come back.
Speaker A:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.
Speaker A:Short break.
Speaker A:Don't go anywhere.
Speaker A:Really important stuff.
Speaker A:So I don't want to by any means, fail to communicate it.
Speaker A:So I'm going to kind of run it back through so you can follow it and just pick up on a point or two.
Speaker A:As they rode, they came to some water.
Speaker A:And the eunuch said, look, there's some water.
Speaker A:Why can't I be baptized?
Speaker A:You can.
Speaker A:Philip answered, if you believe with all your heart.
Speaker A:And the eunuch replied, I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, so he can.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:So he ordered the carriage to stop.
Speaker A:And they went down to the water and Philip baptized him.
Speaker A:When they came up out of the water, the spirit of the Lord caught Philip away.
Speaker A:The eunuch never saw him again.
Speaker A:But Went on his way rejoicing.
Speaker A:I wanted to.
Speaker A:This is.
Speaker A:And then I got one more point.
Speaker A:That's why I split it up this way.
Speaker A:Here's the thing, and I know it's ridiculous to say, but I'm going to say it to you and it's important for you to recognize there's a lot of trials going on right now in the world, in your life, in your family, in different people's lives.
Speaker A:I understand.
Speaker A:It happens for me too.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I got a daughter who's going through the mill.
Speaker A:I got a son who's recovering from COVID You know, you've got all these things going on and people that we love having a hard time going through the up and the down.
Speaker A:And you know that there's a lot of that stuff going on.
Speaker A:I understand.
Speaker A:But there is another part of me that also understands this text.
Speaker A:The eunuch never saw him again, but went on his way rejoicing.
Speaker A:Why was he rejoicing?
Speaker A:Because he saved, that's why.
Speaker A:And all the stuff that we go through, it's a drag.
Speaker A:It's like.
Speaker A:But there is coming this moment where the fullness of the redemption of the salvation that's been granted to us by grace received by, by faith from the Father, through the Son and by the Holy Spirit, we're going to get the fullness of that.
Speaker A:We'll be dancing on streets of gold.
Speaker A:There won't be any more pain, there won't be any more sorrow, there won't be any more memory of all of the ridiculousness.
Speaker A:And it will be awesome.
Speaker A:And if that's not a reason to rejoice, then we have lost our minds.
Speaker A:We're going through a difficult spot and not every spot is difficult, let's at least be honest.
Speaker A:But if you're going through it for 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100 years, that it has its moments.
Speaker A:But there is a salvation that is eternal, that doesn't have a limit to the number.
Speaker A:And this is, and I still say that what Rick Warren wrote in the Purpose Driven Life, that first page is the best page of the entire book.
Speaker A:You know, your life is like a 1 16th or 1 32nd of an inch on a hundred mile long piece of tape.
Speaker A:That's what this life is.
Speaker A:And it's important for us to understand that we have a cause for rejoicing.
Speaker A:And for all of the pain and the sorrow, there's nobody that ought to rejoice more than us.
Speaker A:The David Spoon Experience sometimes.
Speaker A:Oh, welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
Speaker A:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the truce station here in Texas.
Speaker A:That's Kate.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:770, the truth station here in Texas.
Speaker A:Now get ready for a little tougher trivia.
Speaker A:Not too tough, but a little tough.
Speaker A:I will give you a hint.
Speaker A:What runaway servant was the main subject of one of Paul's epistles?
Speaker A:What runaway servant was the main subject of one of the Apostle Paul's epistles, The epistle that he's referring to.
Speaker A:Now we want the servant's name.
Speaker A:Okay, so he wrote a letter to Philemon.
Speaker A:Or for those that remember the joke, what kind of pie?
Speaker A:Phil Lemon.
Speaker A:Anyway, the idea.
Speaker A:Philemon.
Speaker A:What was the servant's name?
Speaker A:Good job, Joanne.
Speaker A:Nice pullback.
Speaker A:So what runaway servant was the main subject of one of Paul's epistles.
Speaker A:And that epistle was to Philemon, who was the main subject.
Speaker A:The runaway from that.
Speaker A:Now look at Philemon is only one chapter long.
Speaker A:So you can look it up and see it pretty fast.
Speaker A:If you think, you know, I told you it was a little harder.
Speaker A:If you think, you know, you know, it's so funny is when we do them really easy, people are like, those are too easy.
Speaker A:And then we do a harder one.
Speaker A:They're like, those are too hard.
Speaker A:If you think, you know.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Davidemasincreased.org right.
Speaker A:What runaway servant was the main subject of the Paul's Epistle to Philemon?
Speaker A:Right, Right.
Speaker A:You guys can get that.
Speaker A:Meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website.
Speaker A:I do want to remind people before I send you to the website, we are changing our buddy situation.
Speaker A:Instead of calling it March buddy, it's just be a buddy.
Speaker A:If you hear somebody and they are, you know, something is like, oh, it touches your heart when you hear them.
Speaker A:They've called in, we've mentioned them, we've prayed for them.
Speaker A:Just commit to a week of mentioning them before the Lord.
Speaker A:That's all I want you.
Speaker A:That's all you got to do.
Speaker A:Be a buddy.
Speaker A:That's a good thing.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:It's a good thing because the Lord will have somebody be your buddy praying for you too.
Speaker A:What a man sows, that shall he also reap.
Speaker A:Galatians 6, 7.
Speaker A:Okay, all right.
Speaker A:Now, in regards to sending you up to the website, money is always.
Speaker A:We're that kind of ministry.
Speaker A:It just always exists as part of our challenge.
Speaker A:And so we ask for those who are listening and getting blessed or fed or encouraged to participate in giving so that we can sustain the ministry because it exists off the giving of the listeners.
Speaker A:Check out the opportunity to do so on the website.
Speaker A:Hemustincrease.org Prayer request hemostincrease.org Praise report he mustincrease.org Looking to give to this ministry.
Speaker A:He mustincrease.org Confused by what's happening right now.
Speaker A:Hemustincrease.org hemustincrease.org what's the matter, Colonel Sanders?
Speaker A:Chicken?
Speaker A:I can't believe that.
Speaker A:I can't believe I get to do this for ministry.
Speaker A:It's so much fun.
Speaker A:Every time I see something.
Speaker A:I saw the movie the other day.
Speaker A:It's just this absolutely ridiculous movie, but there were some absolutely hilarious lines.
Speaker A:It's like, that's stuff we get to do.
Speaker A:So much fun.
Speaker A:All right, what runaway servant was the main subject of one of Paul's epistles, the Epistle to Philemon?
Speaker A:Who was the runaway servant?
Speaker A:That's what we're talking about.
Speaker A:I can tell you this as a hint.
Speaker A:The first part of his name is not two.
Speaker A:That's a really good hint.
Speaker A:Let's see if you guys can get that.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A:We'll do history if we have time at the top of it.
Speaker A:But I want to go back to the text because this is the thing that happens.
Speaker A:And, oh, how I love, love, love this.
Speaker A:If you get what I was sharing about, about Abraham being all, like, flustered because he didn't have a kid, and then telling God once he's flustered, well, this is how we're gonna do it, right?
Speaker A:This is how we do it.
Speaker A:It's like, you know, that's exactly what he's doing.
Speaker A:This is what we're gonna do.
Speaker A:Operating under the wrong assumption that God was gonna respond.
Speaker A:Here's verse four of Genesis 15, and to me, the primary lesson for the day.
Speaker A:Ready?
Speaker A:Then the Lord said to him, no, lookit, all the promises in Christ Jesus are yes and amen, but not all the answers that God gives you are yes.
Speaker A:And sometimes you tell God you don't like this.
Speaker A:And then you tell them, this is the way we're going to do it.
Speaker A:And God's reply is no.
Speaker A:In 1 John 5 when you read it, it says that we know that if he hears us, that anything we ask according to his will, we already possess it.
Speaker A:That's exactly what it says.
Speaker A:And what some of us do is we think, well, if I have asked for it, then I should just possess it.
Speaker A:And sometimes the Lord goes, no, I want this.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:I should have this.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:It's a phenomenal word because sometimes the answer is no.
Speaker A:And if you look at Genesis 15:4 and people actually say God never says no, it's like, are you ridiculous?
Speaker A:Look at it.
Speaker A:Then the Lord said to him, no.
Speaker A:So I just want you to catch this.
Speaker A:It's outstanding.
Speaker A:Because it's life changing.
Speaker A:That can affect each and every one of us on an everyday, regular basis.
Speaker A:And you really got to prepare your mind for this.
Speaker A:It will change your mind.
Speaker A:It will change your heart.
Speaker A:Here it is.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:The answer is no.
Speaker A:Not a chance.
Speaker A:Nope, not happening.
Speaker A:Not going to go.
Speaker A:We're not going to do it.
Speaker A:Not prudent.
Speaker A:It's like there are times where you and I beseech the Lord and we're pretty confident we know what we're doing and what we're talking about.
Speaker A:And the answer is no.
Speaker A:No, you don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker A:You're not going to get it this way.
Speaker A:You're not going to tell me how it goes.
Speaker A:And you're not going to sit there and whine about not having enough of this or that or whatever so that you can do what you want to do or trying to make me legitimate or trying to understand my methods.
Speaker A:The answer is no.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:So this is a great, great illustration to help you understand.
Speaker A:And don't tell me you don't understand this.
Speaker A:I just know you do.
Speaker A:So the other day, our Bert did something he's never done before.
Speaker A:Now, Bert's a character, right?
Speaker A:He's a great, loving dog, but he has all these characteristics that make him the challenge of a lifetime.
Speaker A:More challenging than our last two dogs put together.
Speaker A:And what he did now, not last night, but the night before is Noel and I were sleeping in before we get to church.
Speaker A:We actually got to sleep past seven.
Speaker A:And Bert gets on the bed.
Speaker A:Listen to what he does.
Speaker A:He does this.
Speaker A:And he's looking at Noel.
Speaker A:He's up against the wall.
Speaker A:Now.
Speaker A:Listen to what he does.
Speaker A:I'm not even kidding.
Speaker A:And he starts, you know, he wags his tail when he's all excited and he starts wagging his tail on purpose against the wall by our head.
Speaker A:So all we hear is thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump 50 times in a row.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Nobody's sleeping through that.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:So what did I do?
Speaker A:I turned over to him and I said, no, Bert.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:The answer is no.
Speaker A:That's what God does to us.
Speaker A:Don't be offended.
Speaker A:Sometimes the answer is just no.
Speaker A:That's not the right behavior.
Speaker A:That's not the right response.
Speaker A:That's not the right manipulation.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:And of course we're supposed to say, yes, Lord.
Speaker A:Right, Right.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I'm just making sure you got that.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:What runaway servant was the main subject of one of Paul's epistles in Philemon?
Speaker A:Onesimus, which is spelled O, N, E S I M U, S O, N E is 1.
Speaker A:So I said it's not 2.
Speaker A:It's Onesimus was the main subject of Paul's epistle in Philemon.
Speaker A:That's the answer.
Speaker A:We'll take a short break, then we'll come back.
Speaker A:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.
Speaker A:Short break.
Speaker A:Don't go anywhere.
Speaker A:Can't stand the skill.
Speaker A:Can't stand the skill.
Speaker D:What is the David Spoon Experience?
Speaker A:The fat portions from the firstborn of his flock.
Speaker A:He gives.
Speaker A:Listen, Abel gives the best of what he has from the first of what he has, the fat portions from the firstborn.
Speaker A:So let's understand what that really means.
Speaker A:That means that from the blessings and the bounties, he gives in the beginning the best that he's gotten.
Speaker A:And he gives that to God.
Speaker A:While in Cain's situation, it wasn't that he wasn't offering flocks.
Speaker A:That's ridiculous.
Speaker A:People work soil.
Speaker A:People work flocks.
Speaker A:You give God the best of what you've got from whatever you're doing.
Speaker A:And Cain brought some of the fruits.
Speaker A:The difference in Cain's description and Abel's description is that Cain brought some, while Abel brought the first, the best of the firstborn.
Speaker A:One of them brought leftovers.
Speaker A:One of them brought the best over.
Speaker A:You understand that difference?
Speaker A:One was left over, one was the best over.
Speaker A:Now, I'm going to take you from that text.
Speaker A:We're just flying through this to Revelation 3.
Speaker A:So we go from Genesis 4 to Revelation 3, covering 66 books in two minutes.
Speaker A:To the angel of the church at Laodicea, write, these are the words of the Amen.
Speaker A:The faithful, the true witness, the ruler of God's creations.
Speaker A:I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot.
Speaker A:I wish you were either one.
Speaker A:So because you are lukewarm, neither cold or hot, I'm about to spit you out of my mouth.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:The Greek word is throw up.
Speaker A:Upchuck should be the actual word there.
Speaker A:But Jesus said, I'm gonna.
Speaker A:I want to go.
Speaker A:Blah.
Speaker A:I'm going to throw you up.
Speaker A:What do you mean?
Speaker A:Because in their commitment to the Lord, they were wishy washy.
Speaker A:We went through a whole political season on flip flopping and all this other stuff.
Speaker A:It was like, great, great, great, great.
Speaker A:That stuff's so old, it's not even funny.
Speaker A:This church at Laodicea cannot make the decision to go best.
Speaker A:Maybe not best.
Speaker A:Sometimes the best, maybe not always the best.
Speaker A:Maybe some of the worst, maybe some leftovers.
Speaker A:Maybe none of that.
Speaker A:Maybe we'll figure it out.
Speaker A:We're just gonna.
Speaker A:That's a wishy washy commitment to the Lord.
Speaker A:And Jesus is so, so nice about it.
Speaker A:He goes, I'm going to throw up.
Speaker A:You bleh.
Speaker A:What?
Speaker A:Cain brings some.
Speaker A:The church at Laodicea.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, whatever.
Speaker A:God is not a bill that you pay afterwards.
Speaker A:God is not somebody that you give on the back end of.
Speaker A:Once you've gone through everything, this is what I have left over.
Speaker A:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
Speaker A:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 7, the truth station here in Texas.
Speaker A:That's K double amen.
Speaker A:770.
Speaker A:The truth station here in Texas.
Speaker A:Last trivia question.
Speaker A:Who was Elisha's?
Speaker A:Elisha.
Speaker A:Not Elisha.
Speaker A:Elisha's.
Speaker A:Who was Elisha's servant?
Speaker A:2nd Kings, 4:12.
Speaker A:2 Kings 4:12.
Speaker A:Who was Elisha's servant?
Speaker A:Second Kings, 4:12.
Speaker A:If you think you know the answer.
Speaker A:If you think you know the answer.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Or send an email davidmustincrease.org we're gonna do history very briefly because we have somebody on the line.
Speaker A:So I'm gonna just do a very brief, tight history, just going over very specifics and then we'll go from there.
Speaker A:Let's do history.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A: On this day in: Speaker A:Isn't that a weirdest thing?
Speaker A: Like, really: Speaker A:Second, it is national cold cuts day.
Speaker A:Come on.
Speaker A:Cold cuts, right?
Speaker A:How do you like that?
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:Do you like that cold cuts subs stuff?
Speaker A:Yeah, I can't hear you.
Speaker C:Oh, okay.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:I was confused for a second.
Speaker C:Yes.
Speaker C:Yes, I do.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I Was gonna say it's also Canadian bacon day.
Speaker A:Okay, okay.
Speaker A:No problem there.
Speaker A:And then it's 33 flavors day, which was Baskin Robbins original.
Speaker A:Big thing that they had 33 flavors.
Speaker A:And I know that because I had cousin.
Speaker A:Cousin Jeff spoon owned a 33 flavor Baskin Robbins.
Speaker A:So I used to go see him at the Tail 12 mall and get free ice cream because I was.
Speaker C:There you go.
Speaker C:And that's the second time we've talked about ice cream.
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:That's sad.
Speaker C:What year was it with the.
Speaker C:You said with the hockey.
Speaker A:1875.
Speaker C:That's.
Speaker C:That's just interesting because, you know, all the, you know, NHL and everything, they all play indoors.
Speaker A:Yeah, almost everything except for says their stuff.
Speaker A:But that's 150 years ago.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Yep.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right, somebody's on the line.
Speaker A:Let's send them through.
Speaker A:Knock, knock.
Speaker A:This is David.
Speaker A:Who am I talking to?
Speaker F:Hi, Dr.
Speaker F:David.
Speaker F:This is Joy Ann.
Speaker F:Good Monday to you.
Speaker A:Good fun day Monday to you.
Speaker A:It's not a bum day.
Speaker A:It's a fun day.
Speaker A:How are you?
Speaker F:It really is.
Speaker F:I'm just doing great.
Speaker F:And I would love to answer the trivia and then a real quick, quick praise report if I can squeeze it in.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Who was Elisha's servant?
Speaker F:Was it Gehazi?
Speaker A:That is correct.
Speaker A:Gehazi.
Speaker A:Gehazi.
Speaker A:Gehazi.
Speaker A:Gehazi.
Speaker A:Gehazi, Gehazi.
Speaker A:It's all good.
Speaker F:It's all good.
Speaker A:That's right.
Speaker F:Well, hi, I was listening catching up on podcasts from last week because I didn't get to hear some of your shows.
Speaker F:And on Wednesday you put prayed for my sister and me with regard to plumbing.
Speaker F:And it's almost all done.
Speaker F:And just one thing that remains to be done, and that's the undo the Sink three filter water stage.
Speaker F:I mean, Walter, I mean, sorry.
Speaker F:Water filter system.
Speaker F:So no leaks.
Speaker F:Bathtub, no leaks.
Speaker F:No leaks in the kitchen.
Speaker F:That's what we say around here.
Speaker F:Me so happy.
Speaker A:Me so happy.
Speaker A:That is so great.
Speaker A:Congratulations on that.
Speaker A:That's awesome news.
Speaker A:Very cool.
Speaker F:We have people helping us for nearly free.
Speaker F:One couple for free and someone else for nearly next to nothing.
Speaker F:So.
Speaker F:God is so gracious and he is just spoiling us so sweetly.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker F:So thank you for letting me share.
Speaker F:Praise the Lord for your prayers.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:And the Lord loves you.
Speaker A:So for him, it's not spoiling you.
Speaker A:He's just loving you.
Speaker F:I know it.
Speaker F:I feel that lavish love.
Speaker F:And I love him and I love you and your audience.
Speaker F:And we're praying for everybody and we'll be best buddy for March, so thank you.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker A:Excellent call.
Speaker A:Nice, Nice job.
Speaker A:Very, very good.
Speaker F:Have a great rest of the day and rest up, okay?
Speaker A:You got it.
Speaker F:Don't let Bert wag his tail.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Amazing, that dog.
Speaker F:Anyway, tie it down, Tie it down.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker F:Thank you, Dr.
Speaker F:Davis.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:God bless you.
Speaker A:All right, great phone call.
Speaker A:All right, we got about three minutes, four minutes left.
Speaker A:I can still get this little bit in because I'm going to.
Speaker A:It's just what I want to do.
Speaker A:I just love what the Lord said to Abraham once he told him no.
Speaker A:I know it's so hard for people to hear that.
Speaker A:You mean God might say no?
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:He says this.
Speaker A:He says, the Lord said to him, no, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own to inherit everything I am giving you.
Speaker A:Then the Lord brought Abram out beneath the night sky and said, look up to the heavens and count the stars if you can.
Speaker A:Now, I want to kind of stop there because we're going to pick it up on the count the stars thing afterwards.
Speaker A:But God told him, no, we're going to do it.
Speaker A:Wait, wait.
Speaker A:Get ready.
Speaker A:A little bit of Frank Sinatra there.
Speaker A:No, Abraham, no, we're going to do it my way.
Speaker A:That's what God's doing.
Speaker A:No, your servant is not going to be from your heir.
Speaker A:You have a son on your own to inherit everything I'm giving you.
Speaker A:So the Lord basically told him, no, I'm going to do it my way.
Speaker A:So here's the thing.
Speaker A:I really would love to stress, and I know everybody knows what I'm talking about.
Speaker A:There's nothing, it's not a mystery in this teaching.
Speaker A:You look at Abraham and my whole Christian journey.
Speaker A:My biggest desire as I was growing in Christ was to have this guy's kind of like this guy's faith that he just believed God so much.
Speaker A:I mean, he didn't believe him so much.
Speaker A:But you can see in this moment he's having a little bit of a, what about this?
Speaker A:What about just like all of us do and we all go through that, but then God reaffirms, and that's what you love.
Speaker A:God doesn't say, well, you know what?
Speaker A:You know what?
Speaker A:I don't like the way you replied, I'm out of here.
Speaker A:When you do something and it's not because you're trying to anger God, but you're frustrated and trying to figure it out, the Lord's not sitting there going, oh, well, just for that, I'm going to get out my little rubber band and shoot you with it.
Speaker A:That's not what's going on.
Speaker A:He didn't do that to Abraham.
Speaker A:He didn't do it to Abram.
Speaker A:Abram, he looked at him.
Speaker A:He's like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker A:You're going to have a son on your own.
Speaker A:He's going to inherit everything I'm giving you.
Speaker A:We're my way.
Speaker A:And so everybody has a my way in them, but there's only one my way that counts.
Speaker A:How do you get to heaven?
Speaker A:Well, God says it's my way, right?
Speaker A:I am the way, the truth and the life.
Speaker A:No man comes to the Father but by me.
Speaker A:John 14:6.
Speaker A:People are like, well, that's not fair.
Speaker A:Nobody cares.
Speaker A:It's God's way or no way.
Speaker A:Not Norway.
Speaker A:No way.
Speaker A:So I want to make sure you understand that even though you get to say to God, I don't have this.
Speaker A:You should do it this way.
Speaker A:He doesn't always smack you when you do that.
Speaker A:Sometimes he just tells you, no, we're going to do it my way, and my way is the way.
Speaker A:And you're going to follow my way.
Speaker A:Because I know what I'm doing.
Speaker A:And it's like, that's the thing.
Speaker A:We need to go, okay, and we need to have that right heart that goes, I'm sorry, that's probably out of my line, out of my lane.
Speaker A:I'm definitely hanging out over my skis.
Speaker A:Let's do it your way, Lord.
Speaker A:But after all, isn't his way the best way?
Speaker A:What if our way ends up in disaster instead of our way?
Speaker A:Let's do Yahweh his way.
Speaker A:Get it?
Speaker A:He knows how to be God.
Speaker A:Let's have confidence that he knows how to be God.
Speaker A:You mean he knows what he's doing?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Isn't that great?
Speaker A:That's why it's all in Him.
Speaker A:Praise his holy name for.
Speaker A:For his goodness.
Speaker A:We do it his way, right?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's what we do.
Speaker A:All right, folks, that will wrap it up for a show you've been listening to, the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.
Speaker A:22 and a half hour break, then we'll come back, More insanity with Spoonanity.

Speaker A:Lay me down in peace and sleep for you have made me save.
Speaker A:The views expressed in the preceding program.
