02-27-2025 part 2: From Earthly Desires to Divine Purpose: A Colossians Perspective

Dr. David Spoon elucidates the profound necessity of confronting and relinquishing the vestiges of our earthly nature, as articulated in Colossians 3:5-7. He underscores the imperative for believers to actively engage in the process of spiritual transformation, which entails not merely recognizing the components of our sinful inclinations but decisively putting them to death. This episode delves into the gravity of such actions, detailing how unchecked desires manifest as idolatry, fundamentally placing anything above our relationship with God. Spoon's insights compel us to reflect on the transformative power of Jesus Christ in our lives, emphasizing that while we have been liberated from the bondage of sin, it remains our responsibility to live in accordance with our renewed identity in Him. Ultimately, the discussion beckons us to embrace this spiritual journey of sanctification, fostering an ongoing commitment to align our lives with divine expectations.

A profound exploration of the teachings contained within the Book of Colossians is presented through the lens of the speaker, who endeavors to impart the timeless truths of God with clarity and conviction. The discussion commences with an examination of Colossians 3:5, where the Apostle Paul admonishes believers to 'put to death' the components of their earthly nature. This exhortation serves as a pivotal theme throughout the episode, as it underscores the necessity of actively engaging in the sanctification process. The speaker articulates the significance of recognizing the ongoing struggle against the remnants of the old self, emphasizing that while believers are justified in Christ, the practical outworking of their faith requires a conscious effort to renounce sinful behaviors such as sexual immorality, impurity, and greed. The speaker elaborates on the implications of idolatry, equating any entity that supplants God in one's life with the worship of false gods. This theme is further developed as the conversation shifts to the consequences of such disobedience, highlighting the impending wrath of God upon those who persist in these behaviors. Ultimately, the message is one of hope and empowerment, as the speaker encourages listeners to embrace their identity in Christ, who has triumphed over sin and death, thereby enabling them to live free from the bondage of their former ways.

Takeaways:

  • The Apostle Paul emphasizes the necessity of putting to death our earthly nature, as indicated in Colossians 3:5, thereby underscoring the ongoing struggle against sin in our lives.
  • Understanding that while we are positionally crucified with Christ, we must actively engage in the practical application of our faith by continually combating our old nature.
  • The elements of our old nature include sexual immorality, impurity, and greed, which Paul equates with idolatry, highlighting the seriousness of placing anything before God.
  • The phrase 'but now' signifies a transformative moment in the believer's life, indicating that through Jesus Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin, but empowered to overcome it.
  • The episode discusses the importance of supporting one another in prayer and sharing testimonies of God's faithfulness, illustrating the communal aspect of faith in action.
  • David Spoon's personal journey reflects the profound impact of faith, illustrating how a life transformed by Christ can lead to decades of ministry and service.

Speaker A:

And now for something completely different.

Speaker A:

Here's what's coming up this hour on Today's Experience.

Speaker A:

It's Expository Thursday.

Speaker A:

Expository Thursday.

Speaker A:

As we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the Book of Colossians, we travel to understand what things the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truths in our lives.

Speaker A:

First, picking it back up in Colossians 3, 5, Paul says, put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature.

Speaker A:

Now, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Paul is making it clear that the components of our earthly nature still have to be dealt with.

Speaker A:

Our old man is crucified, but that crucifixion is positional.

Speaker A:

We still have to deal with the old man.

Speaker A:

Practically, we're required by God to continually put to death our old nature.

Speaker A:

So next, Paul gives a short list of what these elements might be that are from the old nature.

Speaker A:

Sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil, desire, and greed.

Speaker A:

It's almost as though four out of the five have to do with sexuality.

Speaker A:

So be aware of that.

Speaker A:

Although greed could also be thrown into that category, he does equal all of these things with idolatry, which is putting another God before our God.

Speaker A:

Anything that goes in between you and God is a God, not a good one, but a God.

Speaker A:

So verse 6 makes it clear why this is a bad place to be.

Speaker A:

Because the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience for these very things.

Speaker A:

And finally, in verse 7, the apostle launches into the idea that we have lived among these people and we used to walk that way.

Speaker A:

But now we must put aside all these things.

Speaker A:

The things that he mentioned prior and the things that he mentions in the following verse.

Speaker A:

The key component in this text is the phrase, but now.

Speaker A:

Before, we were slaves to whatever our desires wanted.

Speaker A:

But now, through Jesus Christ, nothing can master us because Jesus is our master.

Speaker B:

David Spoon's life has been an experience.

Speaker B:

Speaker A:

Eh, not that much.

Speaker A:

Personal revelations, spiritual Observations, my life's insanities, and oy vey, so much more.

Speaker A:

Now remember, it's not professional radio.

Speaker A:

We talked to our very own caveman.

Speaker A:

We called you the caveman yesterday.

Speaker A:

Wasn't that mean of us?

Speaker A:

It was so funny.

Speaker A:

We called him the caveman cartoon.

Speaker A:

It was Captain Caveman.

Speaker A:

Captain Caveman.

Speaker A:

Not just a caveman, but the captain, the lead caveman of all of them.

Speaker A:

Anyway, it's not professional radio.

Speaker A:

Haven't you figured that out by now?

Speaker A:

What does it take, like 13 seconds for us to figure out that's not professional?

Speaker A:

It's two cans and a string.

Speaker A:

I do like that line.

Speaker A:

Here it is.

Speaker A:

It's just radio.

Speaker A:

And so we're just asking, how you doing?

Speaker A:

What's happening?

Speaker A:

What can we do to bless you?

Speaker A:

What's up now you can email us during the show.

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

My little computer and my phone right there.

Speaker A:

David@HemustIncrease.org he can text during the show.

Speaker A:

Kind of fun.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or you can do this really weird thing.

Speaker A:

You can call us.

Speaker A:

It's a telephone.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

It's got buttons now.

Speaker A:

No, more of the rotary.

Speaker A:

It's got buttons anyway.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Talking to Jam and Jacob is the same feeling you get when you're being.

Speaker A:

Hello.

Speaker A:

Thank you, David.

Speaker A:

Happy Thursday.

Speaker A:

Happy Thursday to you, my friend.

Speaker A:

I think that things are going smashingly fast again.

Speaker A:

You know, this show is really fast.

Speaker A:

It's just like bing, it's over.

Speaker A:

What happened?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

It's a long drive for a short.

Speaker A:

For a short show.

Speaker A:

Anyway, how are you doing?

Speaker A:

How are things going for you?

Speaker A:

Do you have to work this weekend?

Speaker A:

I do not have to work this weekend.

Speaker A:

Oh, good for you.

Speaker A:

Good for you.

Speaker A:

You get a little break, huh?

Speaker A:

Any plans for this weekend?

Speaker A:

Anything going on?

Speaker A:

No, nothing so far.

Speaker A:

Just relaxing for a couple of days and.

Speaker A:

Yeah, today's been good so far.

Speaker A:

And your day's been good so far, right?

Speaker A:

Yeah, just phenomenal day.

Speaker A:

I'm having way too much fun.

Speaker A:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

It's too much fun to do some of this.

Speaker A:

It really is.

Speaker A:

There's moments I want to point out that the warfare is weird, right?

Speaker A:

But you know what?

Speaker A:

We just keep going.

Speaker A:

We keep smiling.

Speaker A:

What do we do in overcoming?

Speaker A:

We keep going, going past.

Speaker A:

We don't quit.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

All right, so let's understand why in the.

Speaker A:

Why would somebody bother to send us an email?

Speaker A:

Why would you text?

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Well, one, you're goofy.

Speaker A:

Number two, maybe you've got a praise report or a testimony.

Speaker A:

Number three, maybe you've got a prayer request.

Speaker A:

So we did have somebody that just shared with us that we prayed for their foot and their foot got better.

Speaker A:

They were doing a lot better.

Speaker A:

And we just think that's awesome.

Speaker A:

That's the kind of thing that blesses people.

Speaker A:

Often prayer requests turn into praise reports, which is pretty cool.

Speaker A:

Also, then if there's something, something the Lord showed you or you're driving down the road.

Speaker A:

I had this happen to me when I was a younger Christian.

Speaker A:

I was driving down the road, really down, really discouraged, and this car pulled in front of me, and I was driving with my mom.

Speaker A:

This is way, way, way back, you know, 45 years ago.

Speaker A:

And it had all these bumper stickers about Jesus, and it just lit me up.

Speaker A:

I was so excited because I just felt like the Lord was like, yeah, Dave, I'm right here with you.

Speaker A:

Those are the kind of things you share those things.

Speaker A:

We call them gracelets.

Speaker A:

They're little bracelets of grace that just really.

Speaker A:

They blessed you well.

Speaker A:

They'll bless other people as well.

Speaker A:

So we encourage you to share it.

Speaker A:

We also do Bible trivia.

Speaker A:

And you think, well, why do you do Bible trivia?

Speaker A:

We have done Bible trivia.

Speaker A:

So this is my.

Speaker A:

What is my.

Speaker A:

This is my, let's see, six.

Speaker A:

So I've done close to 3,000 shows.

Speaker A:

Those would be six years.

Speaker A:

We're coming on anniversary up here.

Speaker A:

And bottom line is, Bible trivia is the best thing in the world because it puts the word of God at the forefront of your mind, and they're not.

Speaker A:

Well, wait, let me say this.

Speaker A:

Not all the questions are hard.

Speaker A:

There are a few questions that are a little tough.

Speaker A:

I haven't asked too many people to give me the Greek cognitive of how that should be laid out, as shown by the 26 Nestle version.

Speaker A:

I haven't asked a lot of that.

Speaker A:

But what I have done Is tried to bring the word of God to the forefront of our thoughts.

Speaker A:

Why?

Speaker A:

It's simple.

Speaker A:

It's the word of God.

Speaker A:

God spoke and the universe was created.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

That's the power of God's word.

Speaker A:

God breathed into Adam and Adam became what a living being God breathed into the book.

Speaker A:

What does 2 Timothy 3:16 says?

Speaker A:

All Scripture is God breathed.

Speaker A:

Same breath that went into Adam goes into the book.

Speaker A:

That's why when you read it, there's times where it breathes on you.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

Dave, that's where Hebrews 4:12 comes into play.

Speaker A:

The word of God is alive.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

And then you got Psalm 19:7.

Speaker A:

The law of the Lord is perfect, able to restore the soul.

Speaker A:

Like yeah, those are all great things.

Speaker A:

That's why we do Bible trivia.

Speaker A:

Here's your Bible trivia question.

Speaker A:

Whom?

Speaker A:

I think that's the right pronunciation.

Speaker A:

Whom did the Lord speak to face to face as a man speaks to his friend?

Speaker A:

Your answer by the way, your reference point.

Speaker A:

Exodus:

Speaker A:

Exodus:

Speaker A:

That's your reference point.

Speaker A:

3311 Exodus.

Speaker A:

Whom did the Lord speak to face to face as a man speaks to his friend?

Speaker A:

Was that Adam, Eve, Enoch or Moses?

Speaker A:

Who did the Lord speak to as face to face as a man speaks to a friend?

Speaker A:

Wouldn't that just be awesome, right?

Speaker A:

Adam, Eve, Enoch or Moses?

Speaker A:

If you think you know the answer then this was what you would do.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

You can also text because that's fun too.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Really?

Speaker A:

Can you send an email?

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

You really can?

Speaker A:

Davidemustincrease.org so it's not a complex question, but it's a good one.

Speaker A:

Think about this.

Speaker A:

Whom did the Lord speak to unto face to face as a man speaketh to his friend?

Speaker A:

Was it Adam, was it Eve, was it Enoch?

Speaker A:

Or was it Moses?

Speaker A:

Exodus:

Speaker A:

Does that make sense?

Speaker A:

Yes, of course that makes sense.

Speaker A:

We're going to do our DNA in a little bit.

Speaker A:

I do want to remind people to be praying for one another.

Speaker A:

You had Gary call in.

Speaker A:

We have people that need prayer health wise all over the place.

Speaker A:

Please.

Speaker A:

We want you to be a person who understands Galatians 6:2.

Speaker A:

What is that?

Speaker A:

What are you talking about?

Speaker A:

Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Speaker A:

So you're thinking, well, how do you bear one another's burdens?

Speaker A:

Paul said in Romans:

Speaker A:

That's one of the ways you bear burdens.

Speaker A:

So you pray for one another.

Speaker A:

You love one another, Right?

Speaker A:

That's the call from the Lord.

Speaker A:

A new commandment I give you.

Speaker A:

People hate that.

Speaker A:

A new commandment I give you.

Speaker A:

John:

Speaker A:

Love one another as I have loved you, not as you love yourself, but as Jesus loved Wowzer.

Speaker A:

Okay, we do have somebody ready to answer a trivia question.

Speaker A:

Let's send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker C:

Hi, David.

Speaker C:

This is Deborah.

Speaker A:

Hi, Deborah.

Speaker A:

How are ya?

Speaker C:

I'm fine.

Speaker C:

How are you?

Speaker A:

I'm doing great.

Speaker A:

Noelle's not feeling good, but I'm doing great.

Speaker C:

Well, I'll pray for her.

Speaker A:

Thank you.

Speaker A:

I appreciate that.

Speaker A:

When she's not going good, doing good, then the dog isn't doing as good, and then the house isn't doing as good.

Speaker A:

So definitely pray for her.

Speaker A:

All right, let me set you up on the question.

Speaker A:

Here we go.

Speaker A:

With whom?

Speaker A:

With whom did the lord speak unto face to face, as a man speaks to his friend?

Speaker C:

I'm gonna say mo.

Speaker A:

Mo is correct among you.

Speaker A:

Mo.

Speaker A:

Excellent job.

Speaker A:

Excellent.

Speaker A:

And that was in reference to.

Speaker A:

I mean, God taught to him, like, they were tight.

Speaker A:

And people.

Speaker A:

I don't think they realize that.

Speaker A:

I mean, Moses is a pretty tough character in a lot of ways, but God and him were tight.

Speaker A:

They were close, so it was kind of a cool thing.

Speaker A:

I just think that's cool.

Speaker A:

I just think the idea of him hanging out.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

I can't wait to get to.

Speaker C:

I was wondering if you could say a prayer for Susie.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah, yeah.

Speaker C:

She's going into the hospital today.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker C:

I need them to be nice to her and for them to find out what's wrong.

Speaker A:

Can we pray for her real fast?

Speaker A:

Can you hang out while we pray?

Speaker D:

Sure.

Speaker A:

Let's do it.

Speaker A:

Let's do it, Father.

Speaker A:

We come before you right now, Father, and we thank you.

Speaker A:

Thank you for Deborah.

Speaker A:

And I just ask you to bless her.

Speaker A:

She's a wonderful, wonderful Christian woman.

Speaker A:

We just ask your grace and your blessings upon her.

Speaker A:

And she calls in and is petitioning on somebody else's behalf, and she's asking for our sister Susie.

Speaker A:

And, Lord, Susie's had a rough time of things, and sometimes when she goes in, it doesn't go as well.

Speaker A:

It's not as Smooth.

Speaker A:

And she really needs to find out what's going on, and she needs grace while that situation is happening.

Speaker A:

So we're asking by the power of heaven, that you would move upon the people that work with Susie, and they would be gracious and compassionate and merciful to her, but that also you would give them wisdom so that they would stop guessing and they would start knowing so that they can help her get better.

Speaker A:

And, Lord, we ask for your touch in this situation, and we ask you to comfort Susie so that she doesn't feel overwhelmed.

Speaker A:

We just ask you to bless this situation and turn it into a praise report.

Speaker A:

It's not happy now, but it's something that can turn into a praise report.

Speaker A:

We ask you to make it that way.

Speaker A:

In the name and authority of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Speaker A:

Amen and amen.

Speaker C:

Amen.

Speaker C:

And God bless you, David, so much.

Speaker C:

And.

Speaker C:

And Jim and Jacob, too.

Speaker A:

Thank you so much.

Speaker A:

God bless Deb.

Speaker C:

God bless.

Speaker C:

Bye bye.

Speaker A:

Bye bye.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Phenomenal call.

Speaker A:

Love it.

Speaker A:

By the way, for those that don't know about Deb, Deb is the single greatest guesser on our show.

Speaker A:

She has guessed more trivia questions correctly than anybody.

Speaker A:

She holds the record because she always goes, I'm gonna guess.

Speaker A:

Doing that for over five years.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

We are gonna do our DNA.

Speaker A:

Because we do DNA.

Speaker A:

People are like, what's DNA?

Speaker A:

For those that are new, DNA is the building blocks of building.

Speaker A:

Building blocks.

Speaker A:

Nothing but professional radio here.

Speaker A:

Building blocks of who we are.

Speaker A:

So D, we give D and A.

Speaker A:

Each one has a beginning.

Speaker A:

D stands for draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

Daily.

Speaker A:

That's every day.

Speaker A:

So what's the answer?

Speaker A:

The answer is, if you want a better quality life, spend time with God.

Speaker A:

Well, how do you do that?

Speaker A:

You spend time in his word.

Speaker A:

He's talking to you.

Speaker A:

Spend time praying, you're talking to him.

Speaker A:

It's not like he needs to hear your prayer.

Speaker A:

I want to make sure you understand what's going on there.

Speaker A:

God wants you to pray with him so you'll spend time with him.

Speaker A:

He's omniscient.

Speaker A:

He knows everything.

Speaker A:

You're going to pray.

Speaker A:

He wants you to hang out.

Speaker A:

That's what he wants.

Speaker A:

He wants you so draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

How much time?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

What time should you do that?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

It's not a legalism thing.

Speaker A:

When you have a relationship with somebody, you talk to them, they talk to you.

Speaker A:

That's the essence of communication.

Speaker A:

Talking and listening and listening and talking.

Speaker A:

And so my Wife and I, she talks, I talk, I talk, she talks.

Speaker A:

Sometimes we just sit there in each other's presence, just sharing, whatever.

Speaker A:

Because that's relationship.

Speaker A:

That's what Jesus wants.

Speaker A:

So d for our DNA, draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

Do it every day that ends in Y and you'll be okay.

Speaker A:

N Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

Luke 9:26.

Speaker A:

Jesus said, if you're ashamed of me or my words, I'll be ashamed of you.

Speaker A:

When I come in glory for from the Father with the angels.

Speaker A:

And it's like, look, you and I cannot afford to have this shaming or let the world do shaming.

Speaker A:

It doesn't matter what the world thinks.

Speaker A:

The world's in rebellion against God.

Speaker A:

In fact, James 4:4, a friend of the world is an enemy of God.

Speaker A:

You tell that to some people who claim to be Christians.

Speaker A:

They just scratch their heads.

Speaker A:

Like what?

Speaker A:

Because the world system is.

Speaker A:

They're trying to use the name of God, but establish their own righteousness apart from Jesus.

Speaker A:

And that isn't good.

Speaker A:

That's what man comes up with, all these goofy little cultural things.

Speaker A:

The bottom line is, do not be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

God created the universe.

Speaker A:

The dude knows how to write a book.

Speaker A:

So you stand firm in that.

Speaker A:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

A Always be ready to serve, to serve.

Speaker A:

Now, this is the challenge one.

Speaker A:

So drawing closer to the Lord, that's cool because you get so much out of it, right?

Speaker A:

Never being ashamed, that's taking a stand in your faith.

Speaker A:

If you don't stand for your faith, you don't stand for anything.

Speaker A:

But being ready to serve means it's not all about everything you're thinking of in your universe or in your world.

Speaker A:

So how you do that, and I think this is the practical part of it, is you consider others too.

Speaker A:

It's not that you never think about yourself.

Speaker A:

That's not really what it is.

Speaker A:

It's that you think about how others are, how they're doing.

Speaker A:

Maybe you inquire, maybe you just pray, I don't know.

Speaker A:

But you bring them into your universe of mind time, so to speak, and not just think about yourself, but think about other people.

Speaker A:

Not just love the people around you who is somebody that God has brought into your life.

Speaker A:

Pray for them, think about them.

Speaker A:

Be ready with your response if the Lord wants you to call them, text them, pray for them, drive by, stop by, whatever.

Speaker A:

I'm trying to give you as broad a spectrum as you can get.

Speaker A:

If the Lord wants you to do it.

Speaker A:

You just gotta be ready.

Speaker A:

It's the Isaiah, here am I send me attitude.

Speaker A:

Okay, well, Jesus is our Lord and Savior.

Speaker A:

He saved us, but he's also our Lord, our master.

Speaker A:

Okay, master, what would you like of me today?

Speaker A:

That's what we're saying.

Speaker A:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

A Always be ready to serve.

Speaker A:

We'll take a short break and then come back.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker A:

You know, it's not just the audience that needs stuff.

Speaker A:

Sometimes the host needs a little bit of a, you know, tell me the show's all about you.

Speaker A:

Well, this segment is about the show, but I would say this segment, and it actually has a title for the ddd.

Speaker A:

It's called Joke Time.

Speaker A:

Is Christian Humor Allowed in teaching?

Speaker A:

We've actually had complaints, you know, oh, you can't teach the Gospel and use humor.

Speaker A:

That's why Jesus called James and John the sons of thunder, because it wasn't a humorous quip.

Speaker A:

You're right.

Speaker A:

Pretty bad exegetical process, but let's look at it.

Speaker A:

Proverbs, chapter 17, verse 22.

Speaker A:

Proverbs:

Speaker A:

A joyful heart is good medicine.

Speaker A:

A joyful heart is good medicine.

Speaker A:

You've heard that before.

Speaker A:

That's not new.

Speaker A:

You know, that's the case.

Speaker A:

But what happens is people take these unique interpretations in Scripture and they think that it applies to all processes.

Speaker A:

So somebody actually said to a member at our station, you can't use levity in the gospel proclamation because Paul says you can't do it in Second Corinthians.

Speaker A:

Then it's like, wrong answer.

Speaker A:

This is why we do the thing called read.

Speaker A:

That's always fun.

Speaker A:

And Second Corinthians, chapter 1, verse 7 says this.

Speaker A:

In case you were trying to figure out where did that word levity come from?

Speaker A:

It's only in one translation.

Speaker A:

It's actually never used in any other capacity.

Speaker A:

But here is what he was talking about.

Speaker A:

Was I fickle when I intended to do this or when I made my plans?

Speaker A:

Did I make so in a worldly manner in the same breath as to say yes, yes, and no?

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

The only time that the potential word levity is used is when Paul is talking about meeting with the Corinthians.

Speaker A:

And the one interpretation you could use is, was I using lightness?

Speaker A:

It's not really the word for levity.

Speaker A:

Just in case you're wondering, but was I used, did I use lightness when I made my plans with you?

Speaker A:

In other words, was I kidding around when I made plans to come see?

Speaker A:

You know, that's what Paul said.

Speaker A:

Not, you can never use humor.

Speaker A:

So whoever kind of swapped those two together really needs, really needs to, like, relax.

Speaker A:

I think that would be the key.

Speaker A:

And then for those that are just curious, you know, when the gospel talks about this is kind of one of those classic things when the gospel talks about making declaration and the foolishness of preaching the word is more from which we get the word silliness.

Speaker A:

So Paul's like, yeah, preaching the gospel for the Greek people and for the Jewish people in large.

Speaker A:

It's kind of like a silliness thing.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's what he said.

Speaker E:

The David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

That's Ka Men 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Get ready for your next trivia question.

Speaker A:

Boy, get ready for this one.

Speaker A:

time, the answer's in numbers:

Speaker A:

That's numbers:

Speaker A:

So you got Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, numbers.

Speaker A:

That's what we're talking about.

Speaker A:

Numbers:

Speaker A:

When the Israelites complained of not having any meat, what did God provide so much for so much of it that they were like, buried in it.

Speaker A:

Like, it overwhelmed them.

Speaker A:

What was the meat that overwhelmed them?

Speaker A:

Was that fishes, quails, hares, or chickens?

Speaker A:

Fishes, quails, hares or chickens?

Speaker A:

When the Israelites complained about not having any meat, we don't have enough meat.

Speaker A:

We want more meat.

Speaker A:

Can we have more meat, please?

Speaker A:

When they were doing that, God provided so much that it was almost like they were buried in him.

Speaker A:

It overwhelmed them, right?

Speaker A:

Was that fishies, quailies, hares or chickens?

Speaker A:

That is the question.

Speaker A:

If you think you know the answer, by the way, you are welcome to reach out to us.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Is it fishes, quails, hares or chickens?

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Got to think of it in those terms.

Speaker A:

Israelite complained about not having any meat.

Speaker A:

God gave them so much.

Speaker A:

They were like, oh, my, oh, my.

Speaker A:

Okay, so we got that Going on.

Speaker A:

You can call and you can reach out to us.

Speaker A:

I do want to have two.

Speaker A:

Really?

Speaker A:

Can I do two quick jokes?

Speaker A:

Do you think we have time?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Can we pull it off?

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we can.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, here you go.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Here you go.

Speaker A:

Here's a quick joke for you to never forget.

Speaker A:

Ready?

Speaker A:

Okay, here we go.

Speaker A:

Why can't you tease egg whites?

Speaker A:

Why can't you tease egg whites?

Speaker A:

Because they can't take a yolk.

Speaker A:

All right, now, for those that play guitar, you will love this one.

Speaker A:

Okay, this is a great one.

Speaker A:

Ready?

Speaker A:

A man said to me, I'm going to attack you with the neck of my guitar.

Speaker A:

My reply was, is that a fret?

Speaker A:

A fret.

Speaker A:

That's pretty good, right?

Speaker A:

Okay, last one.

Speaker A:

Einstein's mom.

Speaker A:

Einstein, you happy?

Speaker A:

He said relatively.

Speaker A:

That's good.

Speaker A:

All right, we'll move on.

Speaker A:

Okay, we do have somebody ready to answer terrific questions.

Speaker A:

Are you happy?

Speaker A:

Relatively.

Speaker A:

Are you?

Speaker A:

Okay, let's have somebody call.

Speaker A:

They're ready to answer your question.

Speaker A:

Send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker F:

David, good afternoon.

Speaker F:

It's jd.

Speaker A:

Jd, My bic, My brother in Christ.

Speaker A:

B, I, C, how art thou?

Speaker F:

I've been better, but I will get through it.

Speaker A:

Oh, why do we.

Speaker A:

What do we need to pray for?

Speaker F:

Well, I've got.

Speaker F:

They did biopsies and foreskin cancers, and we're trying to get surgery scheduled for everything.

Speaker A:

What kind of cancers are they?

Speaker F:

Basal and squamous.

Speaker F:

I got two for one.

Speaker A:

Two for one.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker F:

Still, it's not going to be very pleasant to get it done.

Speaker A:

All right, we're going to pray for you, and we're going to put you on the prayer thing so that you get prayed for.

Speaker A:

Her.

Speaker A:

And I want you to.

Speaker A:

You gotta text me, you know, because we get a lot of texts.

Speaker A:

You gotta text me and remind me.

Speaker A:

I want to get you into the march Buddies.

Speaker A:

For other people to be praying along lines so that they can be praying for you all the way through.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I mean, that's important.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, let's do the trivia question, and then we're going to break into prayer for you.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

First and foremost, Israel.

Speaker A:

Whining.

Speaker A:

Can you believe Israel was whining?

Speaker A:

Incredible.

Speaker A:

What did God provide them with so much meat?

Speaker A:

What kind of meat?

Speaker A:

That they were overwhelmed by it.

Speaker A:

Was it fishes, quails, hares, or chickens?

Speaker F:

Well, some fish do fly, but not that far in the desert.

Speaker F:

So I'd have to go quail.

Speaker A:

That is correct, Amanda.

Speaker A:

It was quails.

Speaker A:

Now, what we need is the Lord to give you an abundance of response in our prayer to your situation.

Speaker A:

So we're gonna pray with faith, and we're going to have a high level of expectation.

Speaker A:

You with me in this?

Speaker F:

I am.

Speaker A:

Okay, here we go.

Speaker A:

Let's pray.

Speaker A:

Father, we come before you right now, and I lift up my brother JD and I am blessed by my brother.

Speaker A:

I want to thank you, God, for giving me a brother like this.

Speaker A:

He's an encouragement.

Speaker A:

He's a refreshment.

Speaker A:

And, Lord, his news that he got, not the best news, but we're not going to focus on the news.

Speaker A:

We're going to focus on you as the king, you as the creator, you as the healer.

Speaker A:

s you make it clear in Exodus:

Speaker A:

And we need your healing power to move upon him.

Speaker A:

He's got to schedule the surgery, and I know, Lord, just like everybody else, the enemy's going to play.

Speaker A:

There's going to be a lot of fight in the fear realm.

Speaker A:

I pray that he has an upper hand, recognizing that you have not given him a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind, and healing is available.

Speaker A:

And we are asking you to bring it into his life and let this become a nothing issue and not have the power and the audacity to mock him, but instead, he would push past it and through it and be victorious for it.

Speaker A:

And we ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Speaker D:

Amen.

Speaker F:

Amen.

Speaker F:

Thank you, brother.

Speaker A:

All right, brother, now you text me when you got it going on, because you know the enemy's gonna come at you.

Speaker A:

And then you remind me during the show, but outside of the show, you text me so I can be praying for you.

Speaker F:

Okay, well, okay, you got it.

Speaker A:

All right, my brother.

Speaker F:

Thank you very much.

Speaker A:

All right, God bless you, bro.

Speaker F:

God bless you.

Speaker A:

Bye bye.

Speaker A:

All right, that's my brother J.D.

Speaker A:

so I want people praying for him.

Speaker A:

You gotta pray for him.

Speaker A:

That's exactly what you need.

Speaker A:

You need to be praying for jd.

Speaker A:

That's just important.

Speaker A:

Let me do this one little portion.

Speaker A:

We'll go about three or four minutes, then we'll break.

Speaker A:

But I want you to catch this.

Speaker A:

We're in Colossians 3.

Speaker A:

I didn't finish this part of verse 4, so I want to go back to it.

Speaker A:

I'm going to do a ramp up from Colossians 3.

Speaker A:

1, 2, 3, 4.

Speaker A:

But I want to land at this end part of four.

Speaker A:

It says this, therefore, we already Talked about that last week.

Speaker A:

Since you've been raised with Christ, seek the things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

Speaker A:

Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.

Speaker A:

Verse 3.

Speaker A:

For you died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Speaker A:

Here's verse four.

Speaker A:

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.

Speaker A:

When you get face to face with Jesus, it's over.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

When you are face to face, well, you know him dimly now.

Speaker A:

When you see him face to face, you shall know him as he is.

Speaker A:

You will change.

Speaker A:

It will all be.

Speaker A:

He's not going to change.

Speaker A:

You're going to change.

Speaker A:

That's the forward motion of the coming of Jesus Christ.

Speaker A:

We're looking forward to that.

Speaker A:

But there's this line in there that we zip by so fast because sometimes we read for speed when we're supposed to read the word of God to listen.

Speaker A:

So never read your Bible so you can.

Speaker A:

I've read this much.

Speaker A:

I've read this much.

Speaker A:

Well, if you read that much but don't hear here, it doesn't help you.

Speaker A:

Do you understand?

Speaker A:

So read it to hear.

Speaker A:

And this is what he says.

Speaker A:

When Christ, who is your life appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.

Speaker A:

When you see him face to face, it's glory.

Speaker A:

Awesome.

Speaker A:

But Jesus Christ is your life.

Speaker A:

I want to point this out to you, very important.

Speaker A:

If you are a Christian and Jesus is not your life, there is something fundamentally wrong that needs to change.

Speaker A:

Jesus is not an add on.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

I used to have a TV service and they had a basic thing, right?

Speaker A:

And then you had add ons, right?

Speaker A:

For 299 or 599, or 799 or 999.

Speaker A:

All these add ons.

Speaker A:

Well, Jesus isn't an add on.

Speaker A:

Jesus is your life.

Speaker A:

You're not.

Speaker A:

It's you.

Speaker A:

I'm an American, I'm a Christian.

Speaker A:

I'm a conservator.

Speaker A:

I'm this, I'm that and that.

Speaker A:

No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker A:

Before you are anything else, if you are truly a follower of Jesus Christ, you are a Christian first.

Speaker A:

Everything else comes in second.

Speaker A:

In fact, Jesus says, if you don't love all of these people and all of these things more than me, you're not fit to be my disciple.

Speaker A:

I'm not trying to guilt you if you feel like that.

Speaker A:

The Lord's like going, yeah, yeah, yeah, you need to listen.

Speaker A:

Listen.

Speaker A:

The way you respond to that is you come to the Lord and you say, I need to do better.

Speaker A:

Help me.

Speaker A:

You don't sit there and guilt out.

Speaker A:

You don't let the enemy beat you up.

Speaker A:

You say, lord, help me get to that place.

Speaker A:

I want you to be my life because that's what God wants from us.

Speaker A:

You're going to spend eternity with God.

Speaker A:

Might as well start practicing.

Speaker A:

It's a good thought, isn't it?

Speaker A:

All right, take a short break, then come back.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break, we'll be back.

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker E:

You may be from a Baptist background, a Pentecostal background, a non denominational background.

Speaker E:

David Spoon has that too.

Speaker E:

You may be from the Church of Christ Presbyterian Methodist Church of God or some other denomination, but if you're looking for a show that's Bible based, spirit led and a bit nutty, then give David a listen for a while.

Speaker E:

If you like it, great.

Speaker E:

If not, no worries.

Speaker E:

The David Spoon Experience.

Speaker E:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

Speaker A:

That did not happen to you because you are a brilliant Christian or a non brilliant Christian, a growing Christian or exceedingly mature Christian.

Speaker A:

It happens because there is sin in the world and people choose sin over righteousness in many occasions.

Speaker A:

And so there's this.

Speaker A:

Oh, and if you think right now in your life, right this second of somebody who has been close to you and then has hurt you, somebody that's been maybe a best friend for years and years and years and then they just stop being your friend.

Speaker A:

They just don't want to have anything to do with you, never even give you a reason why.

Speaker A:

You're just like, what happened?

Speaker A:

They're even speaking against you.

Speaker A:

You're like, what happened?

Speaker A:

I'm not going to get into the depth of my situation.

Speaker A:

It's just like everybody else's.

Speaker A:

I have this theory, this is not a biblical theory, so don't get weird on me.

Speaker A:

But I always think that God lets each one of us handle as much as we can.

Speaker A:

And for each one of us, that's about the most we can take.

Speaker A:

A little different in each of the circumstances they manifest.

Speaker A:

But everyone's is just as bad as everyone else's.

Speaker A:

It's just, it just comes out, it's visible differently, but its effect is the same.

Speaker A:

It hurts everyone to the max.

Speaker A:

And then he's literally petitioning the Lord.

Speaker A:

He's literally asking God in that next verse, verse 11.

Speaker A:

By this I know you are well pleased with me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

Speaker A:

It's amazing that David says Please, please, Lord, don't let my enemy triumph over me.

Speaker A:

Don't let that happen.

Speaker A:

Now, in the context, David is trying to protect Israel and the people.

Speaker A:

But from a personalization point of view, or what we call the DAP dynamic application principle, this point of view, there's this personalization.

Speaker A:

We are looking to God to deliver us from Satan's evil plans.

Speaker A:

So this enemy has a triumph over him.

Speaker A:

This enemy, David, is saying, I don't want him to triumph over me.

Speaker A:

This is bad.

Speaker A:

Or somebody close to me.

Speaker A:

In our existence, even if a person, what we find out is behind the person is a spiritual force that's much darker and much worse.

Speaker A:

And so from personalizing it and applying it, we are looking to God for deliverance from Satan and Satan's evil plans using people foreign.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

That's K double amen.

Speaker A:

770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

I love being in Texas.

Speaker A:

I've only been here what's been more than seven years.

Speaker A:

Okay, that's the truth.

Speaker A:

Only been here seven years.

Speaker A:

But I love Texas.

Speaker A:

I love it.

Speaker A:

Okay, so let's get our next trivia question rolling, please.

Speaker A:

Here is our next question.

Speaker A:

A little tougher.

Speaker A:

So for those that are newer to the show, whatever we usually do about five trivia questions.

Speaker A:

The fourth one is usually a little tougher.

Speaker A:

Here we go.

Speaker A:

Habakkuk.

Speaker A:

It's Habakkuk.

Speaker A:

Habakkuk said, people are ordained for judgment and the Lord has established for them.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

People are ordained for judgment and the Lord has established for them.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

Very, very cool.

Speaker A:

Actually, it's in Habakkuk 1:12.

Speaker A:

It is one of these three things.

Speaker A:

Habakkuk says people are ordained for judgment and the Lord has established them for worship, correction or kindness.

Speaker A:

Isn't that great?

Speaker A:

Worship, correction or kindness?

Speaker A:

Habakkuk says people are ordained for judgment and the Lord has established them for worship, correction or kindness.

Speaker A:

According to Habakkk.

Speaker A:

Habakkuk.

Speaker A:

Habakkuk, chapter 1, verse 12.

Speaker A:

Always use the reference point.

Speaker A:

That's always helpful for people to do.

Speaker A:

Okay, if you think you know the answer.

Speaker A:

Let me get to this real quickly.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Davidemustincrease.org now that's your trivia question.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna send you to the website.

Speaker A:

Why am I sending you to the website?

Speaker A:

It's simple.

Speaker A:

We have Radio Rent due tomorrow.

Speaker A:

We do not have the total for Radio Rent.

Speaker A:

We are not $100 billion away, but we're not next door to it either.

Speaker A:

We live by donations from listeners.

Speaker A:

That's how we do it.

Speaker A:

Spend a lot of time working on the ministry, working on things that we're doing, and we need your help to keep it going.

Speaker A:

So if you are so inclined, if you can't do it, don't worry.

Speaker A:

Please just be praying for us.

Speaker A:

But if you can help, please do so.

Speaker A:

We'd like you to check it out on our website.

Speaker A:

It's an easy way to give.

Speaker A:

There's like 10 different ways.

Speaker A:

Check it out on the website.

Speaker A:

Hemustincrease.org Prayer request hemostincrease.org Praise report.

Speaker A:

Hemostincrease.org Looking to give to this ministry.

Speaker A:

Hemustincrease.org Confused by what's happening right now.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org hemustincrease.org they're moving in herds.

Speaker A:

They do move in herds.

Speaker A:

See, we had.

Speaker A:

They're moving in herds.

Speaker A:

We had that and then we had.

Speaker A:

That'll do, Donkey.

Speaker A:

That'll do.

Speaker A:

So somewhere between Jurassic park and, you know, Shrek.

Speaker A:

I'm just saying it's pretty funny.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Habakkuk says people are ordained for judgment and the Lord has established them for what is that worship, correction or kindness?

Speaker A:

That's your opportunity, by the way.

Speaker A:

Habakkuk1:12.

Speaker A:

So if your translation is a little different, get to the word that's closest to it.

Speaker A:

I mean, that's really the way.

Speaker A:

See, that's really the way to say that.

Speaker A:

My translation says it a little different.

Speaker A:

I think you can probably figure it out between those three that I just offered you.

Speaker A:

Okay, So I do want to remind people, don't forget to be givers.

Speaker A:

We need that.

Speaker A:

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Speaker A:

We're not getting very far in the text today, I noticed.

Speaker A:

Let's go ahead and have the person who's ready to answer.

Speaker A:

They're on the line.

Speaker A:

Is that correct?

Speaker A:

Ready to answer?

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Let's send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker D:

It's your brother Roger again.

Speaker A:

Brother Roger again.

Speaker A:

How art thou, brother?

Speaker D:

Is it Thursday?

Speaker A:

It is Thursday.

Speaker A:

You're checking in because it's Thursday.

Speaker A:

Brother Roger.

Speaker A:

Check in Thursday day.

Speaker A:

All right, I'm going to Go ahead.

Speaker D:

I guess everything's going to be okay, then.

Speaker A:

The world still revolves.

Speaker A:

We are fortunate to know everything is okay.

Speaker A:

All right, my brother, let's set you up on the trivia question.

Speaker A:

Are you ready for this one?

Speaker D:

Yeah, I think I am.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

It's a good one.

Speaker A:

And then we'll talk about it and then give you a chance to share.

Speaker A:

So Habakkuk said in one, 12 people are ordained for judgment.

Speaker A:

And the Lord has established for them either worship, correction, or kindness.

Speaker A:

Which of those?

Speaker D:

I think it's worship.

Speaker A:

Okay, now here's the thing.

Speaker A:

If you didn't pick worship, what would your second pick be?

Speaker A:

Correction or kindness?

Speaker D:

Kind.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And if that wasn't the one that you picked, then between worship and kind, that is the right one.

Speaker A:

There it is.

Speaker A:

So people can understand what's going on.

Speaker A:

And worship would be the natural inclination for every one of us.

Speaker A:

I mean, that would be the normal thing that you would say.

Speaker A:

But what Habakkuk was saying as a prophet was God has ordained judgment, right?

Speaker A:

And then established for them correction so that that judgment doesn't get fulfilled.

Speaker A:

In other words, the correction is how to change it so that you don't end up in the judgment.

Speaker A:

So when they're doing wrong, what he does is.

Speaker A:

See, people don't recognize it.

Speaker A:

But God gives correction so he can help us.

Speaker A:

None of his purposes, none of his laws, none of his word is to sit there and take away the fun.

Speaker A:

It's to help us.

Speaker A:

He doesn't write those things cause he's a fuddy duddy.

Speaker A:

He writes those things cause he doesn't want us to be poking ourselves in the eye.

Speaker A:

That's why that makes sense.

Speaker D:

Well, I'm glad I got it wrong.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's interesting.

Speaker A:

It's such a fascinating thing.

Speaker A:

But you did go through the list.

Speaker A:

I mean, that was good.

Speaker D:

Yeah, because, you know, I know in my life I need correction.

Speaker A:

Yeah, right.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker D:

For my good.

Speaker A:

That's exactly correct.

Speaker D:

For my good.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker D:

And God corrects those he loves.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

The sentiment.

Speaker A:

That's exactly right.

Speaker A:

So the Lord is telling people, no, the Lord's going, hey, don't stick that screwdriver in a socket.

Speaker A:

No, no, don't do that.

Speaker A:

No, no.

Speaker A:

That's him trying to protect us.

Speaker D:

Right.

Speaker A:

Doesn't that make sense?

Speaker A:

It's like, oh, that makes sense.

Speaker D:

It makes great sense.

Speaker D:

Because I'm kind of a hard learner myself.

Speaker D:

I always got to get corrected, you know?

Speaker D:

Oh, well, learn a lesson.

Speaker A:

I just think everything that God does with me I just think.

Speaker A:

I know it's a red pen.

Speaker A:

I don't care.

Speaker D:

Well, we got to get through.

Speaker A:

Yeah, you got it.

Speaker A:

I mean, I'm sure the goal here is making us look like Jesus.

Speaker A:

It's like, okay, let's get in this.

Speaker A:

Let's get it done.

Speaker D:

Mm.

Speaker A:

Hi, my brother.

Speaker A:

What do you got?

Speaker A:

Anything special for us?

Speaker A:

I know you're doing through a lot.

Speaker A:

We love you, and we prayed for your wife last yesterday.

Speaker D:

Hey, you know, I'm just learning.

Speaker D:

I'm still learning, brother.

Speaker D:

I'm still believing, still trusting.

Speaker D:

In spite of what anything looks like, I'm gonna keep on trusting and believing and.

Speaker D:

And keep the hope alive and everything that.

Speaker D:

All the.

Speaker D:

All the cliches you want to keep.

Speaker D:

But my heart is.

Speaker D:

My heart is full of God, and I just.

Speaker D:

I just love the Lord with all my heart and soul and mind and spirit, and I just want to continue.

Speaker D:

So I want to continue to worship and praise him and.

Speaker D:

And just love on him.

Speaker D:

And I've decided, you know, like, I.

Speaker D:

I talk about the.

Speaker D:

The cares of life.

Speaker D:

Well, when I get up, I'm going to give him the care before it comes.

Speaker D:

So if you know that a care is coming, give it to him before it comes.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker D:

You got a care coming, brother David.

Speaker D:

And I know you got a care coming, and it's called radio rent.

Speaker D:

We'll give it to him.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

That's what you.

Speaker A:

And, you know, you're 100% right.

Speaker A:

It's like, lord, you know what?

Speaker A:

You are the master of this.

Speaker D:

Right?

Speaker A:

Have fun with it.

Speaker A:

Well, I actually say stuff like that, like, have fun with it.

Speaker A:

Let me know.

Speaker D:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

Wait a minute.

Speaker D:

Do you want to handle it, David, or you want me to handle it?

Speaker D:

What way do you want to go with it?

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

How would you like this to go down?

Speaker A:

It reminds me of a minister that he was on an airplane, and the Lord spoke to him, and the Lord said to him, I've seen your ministry.

Speaker A:

Would you like to see mine?

Speaker A:

Like, wow.

Speaker D:

But it don't bother me that you ask.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

Because if you don't ask, you're not gonna receive.

Speaker D:

It don't bother me a bit, you know, And I.

Speaker D:

You know, I'm just in a spot right now.

Speaker D:

It's just really.

Speaker D:

I mean, I just.

Speaker D:

I had to do my whole daughter's funeral, which wasn't planned, and I had a.

Speaker D:

My wife has got a lot of cold pays we're not caught up with.

Speaker D:

But, hey, you know, if God sees ahead of time, that you're going through this stuff, then you got to give them cares ahead of time.

Speaker D:

You know, I'm.

Speaker D:

I just give them all my cares ahead of time from now on, instead of waiting till they pile up.

Speaker D:

I'm not going to wait until the straw breaks the camel's back.

Speaker D:

I'm not going to let that straw get on the camel's back.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen, brother.

Speaker A:

Cast your care unto him because he cares for you.

Speaker D:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

Anyway.

Speaker D:

But I am praying for you, and I know that God's not going to take you off the air.

Speaker D:

And unless it's his will.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker D:

And.

Speaker D:

And then if he does take you off there, you got something going down the road.

Speaker D:

You know, whatever it takes, Brother David.

Speaker D:

You know, I've been.

Speaker D:

I've been different churches, and you've been through different churches.

Speaker D:

We.

Speaker D:

You.

Speaker D:

You were in a place that I wouldn't want to be, and that's California.

Speaker A:

I survived Detroit.

Speaker A:

I survived California.

Speaker A:

This is great.

Speaker A:

That's funny, brother.

Speaker D:

I went.

Speaker D:

I went to a guy had a job for me in California, and I went down there and I decided not to move my family.

Speaker D:

I said, well, give me.

Speaker D:

I'm gonna let it go for two weeks.

Speaker D:

Well, it was driving a truck and I got pulled over for going too slow.

Speaker D:

And after that, I said, you know what?

Speaker D:

I'm gonna go back to Texas.

Speaker A:

That's hilarious, brother.

Speaker A:

Brother, I love you in the Lord.

Speaker A:

I want people praying California.

Speaker D:

I don't know why.

Speaker A:

Well, we're not.

Speaker A:

We're not there now, so we don't have to worry about that.

Speaker D:

But, you know, everything is for a reason, brother David.

Speaker D:

And we're gonna.

Speaker D:

We're, you know, and growing.

Speaker D:

Sometimes growing has pain.

Speaker D:

Growing pains are difficult.

Speaker D:

But all things work out for the good of those that love the Lord and our call.

Speaker D:

You're called, brother.

Speaker D:

You're called.

Speaker D:

So it's gonna work out for your good, whatever happens.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker D:

Just cast that care upon them.

Speaker A:

You got it.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker D:

I love you.

Speaker D:

Praying for you.

Speaker D:

I want to continue to be part of this entertainment or whatever you want to call it.

Speaker D:

You know, I hope we're.

Speaker D:

I hope we're helping people.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

I hope we really are.

Speaker A:

I think we are.

Speaker A:

I think.

Speaker A:

I think in my heart we're doing.

Speaker A:

We're doing that.

Speaker D:

And I just.

Speaker D:

I just want.

Speaker D:

I just want everybody to know how much God really loves them.

Speaker D:

But there is sin in this world.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker D:

And the sin has consequences.

Speaker D:

Sometimes the consequences rubs off on his people, you know, and it just.

Speaker D:

It just happens.

Speaker D:

Stuff happens.

Speaker D:

And you just not nothing.

Speaker D:

You.

Speaker D:

It don't get in the way of it.

Speaker D:

Just get out of the way of it and let things happen.

Speaker D:

And then just trust God.

Speaker D:

In spite of what it looks like, I'm just gonna.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker D:

And I gotta let you go.

Speaker D:

So you can.

Speaker A:

I gotta finish.

Speaker A:

All right, my brother.

Speaker A:

Love you, brother.

Speaker A:

God bless you.

Speaker A:

Bye bye.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Brother Roger.

Speaker A:

Brother Roger again.

Speaker A:

So for those that don't know, his name is Brother Roger again.

Speaker A:

Because he called in and he said, it's Brother Roger again.

Speaker A:

And so since then, it's always been it's Brother Roger again.

Speaker A:

That's his name.

Speaker A:

We're a weird group of people, right?

Speaker A:

We are a strange, strange group.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

You know what?

Speaker A:

What is it?

Speaker A:

There's.

Speaker A:

What is that?

Speaker A:

I think it's in the King James.

Speaker A:

If it's not to the new King James, or at least the nas.

Speaker A:

It says we are a peculiar people.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah, this is one, Peter.

Speaker A:

We're a peculiar people.

Speaker A:

Okay, so we're going to finish off, I guess somebody calling in.

Speaker A:

Let's see what they're going to do.

Speaker A:

I just need to know if that's going to be something in that.

Speaker A:

If not, I'm just going to teach out for the rest of the show because we only have, like seven minutes left.

Speaker A:

Because that's how fast an hour, hour and a half goes.

Speaker A:

It's so weird.

Speaker A:

It's like a very fast time.

Speaker A:

So let me check with Jacob.

Speaker A:

Jacob, do I need to do anything on this or.

Speaker A:

Because I'm going to go in.

Speaker A:

All right, I'm going to just teach, and then if it's somebody else, we'll see if we can pick it up.

Speaker A:

Okay, let's see.

Speaker A:

Hold on.

Speaker A:

I'm still.

Speaker A:

Okay, here we go.

Speaker A:

Colossians, chapter three.

Speaker A:

Picking it at verse five.

Speaker A:

Listen to what I'm going to say.

Speaker A:

This is really some good stuff.

Speaker A:

Put to death.

Speaker A:

Therefore, the components of your earthly nature.

Speaker A:

Okay, got it.

Speaker A:

Sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil, desire and greed, which is idolatry.

Speaker A:

Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.

Speaker A:

When you lived among them, you used to walk in these ways.

Speaker A:

But now you must put aside all such things as these as well.

Speaker A:

Anger, rage, malice, slander, filthy language from your lips.

Speaker A:

So the big component here in Colossians 3, 5, 6 and 7 is what Paul's doing is identifying by the verbal plenary.

Speaker A:

That's when the Holy Spirit directs somebody what to write, but they don't lose their personality in it.

Speaker A:

That's verbal plenary.

Speaker A:

The verbal plenary process.

Speaker A:

He's telling them, look, put to death, these components, they're no longer your master.

Speaker A:

They don't own you.

Speaker A:

But you have to fight against them.

Speaker A:

You have to take a stand.

Speaker A:

You are positionally 100% saved, there's no question.

Speaker A:

But practically what's taking place is God is making you look like Jesus.

Speaker A:

He pronounces you righteous like Jesus, and then he's making you look like Jesus.

Speaker A:

And then you'll be with Jesus like, you know, a hundredfold.

Speaker A:

So what he's doing now, so what it is, is it's justification is the penalty.

Speaker A:

Sanctification is the power, and then glorification is the presence.

Speaker A:

And so when you're dealing with sin, justification is the penalty that we are free from.

Speaker A:

Sin's penalty.

Speaker A:

Sanctification is we are free from the power.

Speaker A:

And God is teaching us about that.

Speaker A:

And glorification is we'll be free from the presence of sin.

Speaker A:

Okay, so that's cool.

Speaker A:

Got that.

Speaker A:

So what he says is, look, put to death, therefore, the components of your early nature, you have the ability to do it.

Speaker A:

You're walking in Christ, you have the power.

Speaker A:

You can do all things through Jesus.

Speaker A:

You have a born again spirit.

Speaker A:

You can walk in the newness of life.

Speaker A:

Put these things down.

Speaker A:

Sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire and greed, which is idolatry.

Speaker A:

And technically they're all part of idolatry.

Speaker A:

Anything.

Speaker A:

You have to understand what idolatry is.

Speaker A:

People keep thinking idolatry is when you have, like BAAL is a God.

Speaker A:

You know what, making money could be idolatry for you because you put that before God.

Speaker A:

That would then be idolatry.

Speaker A:

A person, a lust, a position, a power, an influence.

Speaker A:

Any of those things could be idolatry.

Speaker A:

If they come between you and God.

Speaker A:

Idolatry is anything you have that stands in between you and the genuine Jehovah.

Speaker A:

That's it.

Speaker A:

You can't change it.

Speaker A:

That's how it goes.

Speaker A:

And so he's like, you got to get rid of all of that.

Speaker A:

And he tells you in verse six, because of these things, God's not going to put up with that.

Speaker A:

God's wrath is coming on the sons of disobedience.

Speaker A:

We are not them.

Speaker A:

But he's coming.

Speaker A:

And then what Paul does is remind you by the way, when you lived among them, you used to walk that way.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's how we were before we were Christians.

Speaker A:

But in verse, the key in this is verse 8 where he says, but now and that, but now means, look, before, you were slaves to whatever your desires wanted.

Speaker A:

But now Jesus Christ is your master.

Speaker A:

And you don't owe sin anything.

Speaker A:

You don't owe your flesh anything.

Speaker A:

You don't own the old you a thing.

Speaker A:

You don't owe anything.

Speaker A:

It tries to make you feel that way, but it's wrong.

Speaker A:

It's a liar, so to speak.

Speaker A:

Remember, it's a sinful nature, right?

Speaker A:

And so not only do you need to get rid of and I need to get rid of, we all need to get rid of on a continual basis, sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil, desire and greed.

Speaker A:

But we also need to put apart anger, rage, malice, slander, filthy language from your lips.

Speaker A:

So for those that need to understand that anger, not all anger is sin, but anger that is unchecked is sin.

Speaker A:

It says, be angry, but sin not in Ephesians.

Speaker A:

Let not the sun go down upon your wrath, which means don't stay angry.

Speaker A:

That's when it becomes sinful.

Speaker A:

And anger should be a righteous anger for a purpose, not for revenge.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

That's a big difference.

Speaker A:

Rage, that's when you just lose it.

Speaker A:

Malice, that's what you want evil to happen.

Speaker A:

Oh, those people aren't on.

Speaker A:

They're not on my political side.

Speaker A:

I hope they all get swallowed up and die.

Speaker A:

What are you doing?

Speaker A:

Slander.

Speaker A:

Speaking evil of things.

Speaker A:

Filthy language.

Speaker A:

People think that's coarse language.

Speaker A:

No, not really.

Speaker A:

Filthy language is language that when you don't speak life, you speak death, you speak dirt.

Speaker A:

That's not.

Speaker A:

That's not a word.

Speaker A:

Oh, you shouldn't say that word, Dave.

Speaker A:

That's not really what that's about.

Speaker A:

It's much worse.

Speaker A:

It's what's in the depth of the heart that's speaking.

Speaker A:

This evil darkness about somebody, something, somewhere, sometime.

Speaker A:

It's like, don't do that.

Speaker A:

In fact, the Bible says death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Speaker A:

Make sure you speak life.

Speaker A:

Speaking death is a dumb idea and God doesn't like it.

Speaker A:

And the big element, as we close it down, the big thing is this verse eight makes it clear.

Speaker A:

But now.

Speaker A:

What do you mean, but now?

Speaker A:

But you're in Jesus.

Speaker A:

You don't have to be that way ever.

Speaker A:

But Dave, I struggle with that besetting sin.

Speaker A:

I understand.

Speaker A:

But the scripture tells us to put it aside because in Jesus, it don't own you.

Speaker A:

It just tells you it owns you.

Speaker A:

It's lying.

Speaker A:

In Jesus, you are free.

Speaker A:

Stay free.

Speaker A:

Interesting.

Speaker A:

Okay, folks, that's the show you've been listening to, the David Spoon Experience, right here.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
