02-26-2025 part 1: Harnessing Faith: Lessons from Psalm 62 on Waiting for God
Dr. David Spoon elucidates the profound concept of "waiting on God with calm confidence," as he delves into the teachings found within Psalm 62. Central to this discourse is the notion that true faith necessitates a steadfast and serene expectation of divine intervention. By emphasizing the importance of patience and reliance on God's timing, Dr. Spoon invites listeners to cultivate a disposition of tranquility amidst life's uncertainties. He articulates the necessity of discerning when to actively pursue God and when to embrace stillness, highlighting that both actions are integral to a robust spiritual life. Through this exploration, we are reminded that God’s deliverance, characterized by perfection and completeness, transcends our own efforts and understanding.
A profound exploration of the delicate balance between waiting and acting in the Christian faith is presented in the discourse led by Dr. David Spoon. As he delves into the overarching theme of 'Waiting on God with calm confidence,' he underscores the significance of patience in a world that often demands immediate results. The dialogue is rich with scriptural references, particularly Psalm 62, which serves as a foundational text illustrating the steadfastness of the believer's soul in awaiting divine intervention. Dr. Spoon articulates that true faith is not merely about passive waiting; rather, it involves an active confidence in the efficacy of God's promises. He emphasizes the necessity of understanding when to engage fervently in prayer and when to adopt a posture of stillness, allowing the Lord to manifest His will in His perfect timing. Speaker B:Hello, everybody.
Speaker A:When it's cold outside.
Speaker B:I've got my.
Speaker A:Here's what's coming up on today's experience.
Speaker A:It's Dr.
Speaker A:Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DD DDDD's, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.
Speaker A:Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.
Speaker A:But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh.
Speaker A:Ecclesiastes, the review of the Goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.
Speaker A:Take a look around.
Speaker A:Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
Speaker A:Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't if we sit on our blessed assurance.
Speaker A:Humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?
Speaker A:Because Radio Rent isn't due till Friday and it's only Wednesday.
Speaker A:That's why.
Speaker A:Also, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.
Speaker A:Living this life, not always easy running in this.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker A:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, Local, national and heavenly talk.
Speaker A:My name is Dr.
Speaker A:David Spoon.
Speaker A:I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.
Speaker A:Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.
Speaker A:Here is the key to the show.
Speaker A:We don't know what we're doing.
Speaker A:We have no idea what's gonna happen.
Speaker A:We really don't care much about that.
Speaker A:But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk truth with you.
Speaker A:So here we go.
Speaker A:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
Speaker A:Here you go.
Speaker A:Setting it up for you now.
Speaker A:Can't get any clearer than this.
Speaker A:Nope.
Speaker A:You can't run away.
Speaker A:Even if you turn off the radio, it will follow you.
Speaker A:Here it is.
Speaker A:Have you been blessed this week?
Speaker A:How?
Speaker A:No, I'm not going to say how.
Speaker A:Now, brown cow, have you been blessed this week?
Speaker A:Yes or no?
Speaker A:And I know you've been blessed.
Speaker A:So then my next question is, how?
Speaker A:How has the Lord blessed you?
Speaker A:Very straightforward.
Speaker A:Very, very simplistic.
Speaker A:If you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question, we don't want that to die of loneliness.
Speaker A:If you have an answer to that question, we don't want it to die of loneliness.
Speaker A:Just reach out and give us a call.
Speaker A:Give us a holla.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: : Speaker A:50770.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A:That's right.
Speaker A:Talking to Jammin Jacob is like feeling confident that you have done your very best.
Speaker A:Thank you, David.
Speaker A:Happy Wednesday.
Speaker A:Happy Wednesday to you, my friend.
Speaker A:I'm very glad to hear that the spaceship did not crash on your watch.
Speaker A:That's good news to hear.
Speaker A:Good news.
Speaker A:It's still flying high.
Speaker A:Well, let me give you everybody's appreciation with the famous and yet infamous.
Speaker A:See, it's so famous, it's even infamous golf club.
Speaker A:There you go.
Speaker A:Nice job on that.
Speaker A:How are things going so far today?
Speaker A:Well, going good so far today.
Speaker A:All right, there you go.
Speaker A:You get two for two.
Speaker A:Don't, don't, don't, don't blow it.
Speaker A:Two for two.
Speaker A:And I heard the most prestigious clap of all.
Speaker A:The golf clap.
Speaker A:The golf clap, it's what's better than that.
Speaker A:The one hand clap is funny.
Speaker A:Let's see.
Speaker A:But it's not as loud as the golf clap.
Speaker A:So you see how that works?
Speaker A:Okay, you know how they say you can't clap hands with one hand?
Speaker A:Watch.
Speaker A:Sounds like a clap to me.
Speaker A:Anyway, just want to point that out.
Speaker A:Look, if you've got something that you want to reach out to us, it's a phone and it probably won't hurt you, at least not that we think.
Speaker A:Additionally, by the way, you can also text.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:I'd like to say it fast for those who need me to speed up.
Speaker A:Ready?
Speaker A:And I'll do it again and one more time.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Again, for those a little slower.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Additionally, you can send an email.
Speaker A:Davidmustincrease.org you gotta use my name.
Speaker A:That's the way to do it.
Speaker A:Hemustincrease.org we encourage you to do that.
Speaker A:And the reason that we encourage you to do that is so that you can in fact answer the question, have you been blessed this week?
Speaker A:Really?
Speaker A:How?
Speaker A:I think that's a cool thing to ask.
Speaker A:It's open for that kind of question.
Speaker A:It's also open for you to share a praise report or a testimony, anything you want to call it.
Speaker A:I don't really care.
Speaker A:Just give honor and glory to the Lord.
Speaker A:You don't have to Speak well, just share it.
Speaker A:People are always blessed by it.
Speaker A:If you've got a prayer request, and we've got multiple prayer requests, we got people that we need to pray for in just a little bit.
Speaker A:A lot of health issues going on for some people.
Speaker A:I know people are like, the weather's getting nicer and it is.
Speaker A:And then some people go through the mountain, cedar change, and it's like, bleh.
Speaker A:And you feel like that, or the flu, whatever.
Speaker A:I know my wife has the flu.
Speaker A:Ish.
Speaker A:Trying to get her to go home from work.
Speaker A:But that's like getting me to change my mind in certain sports realms.
Speaker A:Very, very difficult.
Speaker A:And in addition, though we have other people we need to be praying for, we're going to do that.
Speaker A:But if you've got a prayer request, don't hesitate.
Speaker A:And the reason is because prayer works.
Speaker A:We've said it before, we'll say it again.
Speaker A:It doesn't work.
Speaker A:For those who don't believe it works.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:What are you going to do?
Speaker A:Pray about it.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker A:Because it's that kind of prayer that raises the dead, that multiplies things that you have into greater number because it brings the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God, the will of God, into a circumstance.
Speaker A:And that is substantially different and much more effective than politicians, just so that we can be on the same page.
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker A:Additionally, it could be just something you want to share, something you saw something, maybe something happened and you're like, you know what?
Speaker A:Bless me.
Speaker A:It was just really cool.
Speaker A:I liked it.
Speaker A:Or I saw this one thing.
Speaker A:It reminded me of this.
Speaker A:It really helped me.
Speaker A:Whatever the case may be, we want to keep that open for you so that you can share.
Speaker A:Yes, I have plenty to teach.
Speaker A:I mean, plenty to teach.
Speaker A:But I want you to be aware that we want to be available to help.
Speaker A:Let's go into prayer to start, and then we'll get into our teaching, which, by the way, we're going to be in Psalm 62 we want to talk about.
Speaker A:Lights out.
Speaker A:Fantastic.
Speaker A:It's some of the coolest stuff ever, but we'll get to that in a second.
Speaker A:In the meantime, let's initially go to the Lord in prayer for one another, taking our faith and combining it before the Lord.
Speaker A:I don't think you'll have a problem following me on this one.
Speaker A:Let's just do it.
Speaker A:Father, we come before you right now and hallowed be your name.
Speaker A:That is right.
Speaker A:That is proper to give you glory and praise.
Speaker A:As Paul even wrote, first, I thank my God, I mean, Lord, there's just nothing that can stop that.
Speaker A:Because you are so gracious to us that we even get a chance to call upon your name, that we even know you.
Speaker A:We're not worthy of that.
Speaker A:But your kindness exceeds us.
Speaker A:It overwhelms us.
Speaker A:And so, Lord, we've got people in our radio family and our personal families that are really hurting.
Speaker A:I mean, hurting.
Speaker A:And so we want to start with that, and we want to pray for Angelina, who's just going through it, having a very difficult time physically.
Speaker A:And that's really putting a lot of pressure on Rosalind and Robert.
Speaker A:And what we're asking for, for Rosalind and Robert is wisdom and understanding on how to approach, how to handle it, how to approach it and deal with it.
Speaker A:And we pray for a comfort for Angelina, and we pray that same comfort for Keith Oakley.
Speaker A:We ask you to cover him and protect him.
Speaker A:He's going through it, too, and only you can deliver him.
Speaker A:Only you can heal him or bring him.
Speaker A:And that's all we're asking, is that you would give him favor.
Speaker A:Lord, we lift up Roger's wife to you who's gone through it and.
Speaker A:And Roger again's wife just gone through the mill, losing a child and going through such dramatic elements.
Speaker A:Please, God, let them have peace, Let them have favor.
Speaker A:We also lift up Jeanette to you, her daughter Pamela, but Jeanette as well, who's going through a lot of physical struggles, she's just asking to get on top of it, to be there, Lord, help her, heal her, bring that grace into her.
Speaker A:And I also bring my wife to you, Lord, who's going through it, and she's.
Speaker A:Lord, she's probably the only person I know as stubborn as me.
Speaker A:But, Lord, I pray you'd move upon her and if she needs to get home and get to bed, that she would do that and respond and you would be the orchestrator of that event.
Speaker A:I pray you bring healing into her life as well.
Speaker A:Lift all these people up to you, Lord.
Speaker A:We lift people up that haven't been named.
Speaker A:We mean not to miss anybody, you know that, Lord, but we are asking you to bring healing to these people and more because we need your help.
Speaker A:The world fell into sin and has a lot of brokenness, and, Lord, you redeemed it for your people's sake, but we don't get the fullness of that quite yet.
Speaker A:So pour some of heaven on this earth with your miraculous power.
Speaker A:We just glorify you and lift our hearts to you and thank you in Jesus name.
Speaker A:We pray this and have faith for your Goodness.
Speaker A:In Jesus name, Amen.
Speaker A:Okay, that is how we get the show rolling.
Speaker A:We are going to go from that into the next element.
Speaker A:We are in Psalm 62.
Speaker A:If you're like me and you don't wear a hat and you don't have any hair to pull on your head, then you can just sit there and go, hmm.
Speaker A:But if you have a hat, hold onto it.
Speaker A:If you've got hair, get ready to brace yourself as we go into Psalm 62.
Speaker A:For those that do not know, this psalm was written by David.
Speaker A:It is a calm resolve to wait for the salvation of the Lord.
Speaker A:Uh oh.
Speaker A:It's what, David?
Speaker A:What is it?
Speaker A:Psalm 62.
Speaker A:It is a calm resolve to wait for the salvation of the Lord.
Speaker A:Uh oh.
Speaker A:WO is right.
Speaker A:Here is verse one.
Speaker A:Truly my soul silently waits for God.
Speaker A:From him comes my salvation.
Speaker A:Now, this whole psalm is just like this.
Speaker A:So just so you can know, I'm going to take extra time with this psalm because it's just phenomenal.
Speaker A:Each line, dissecting each line.
Speaker A:It's just fascinating.
Speaker A:And what David is doing in Psalm 62, and if you're not a big fan of this psalm, you should become a big fan of this psalm.
Speaker A:David expresses confidence and assurance that God's justice will prevail.
Speaker A:And what David is offering up is a very calm and steadfast resolve while waiting for the salvation of the Lord.
Speaker A:Now we're going to deal with when that's appropriate.
Speaker A:And when that's not, just slow down, but what I want you to catch, what I want you to pick up, what I want you to understand is in this psalm, at this time, in this moment, David is offering up this very calm and steadfast resolve.
Speaker A:There's something inside of him that the Holy Spirit has prompted in concert, that he's like, I am standing fast in the Lord.
Speaker A:In fact, if you look at Ephesians 6 and go through Ephesians chapter 6, go through basically verse 10 through 18, which has to do with the armor of the Lord.
Speaker A:It says three times in the very beginning, stand, stand, stand.
Speaker A:Sometimes you just stand there and you wait for God to show his hand.
Speaker A:You patiently wait.
Speaker A:So what this means is there are times in our lives.
Speaker A:Let me phrase this so you can know, or why, how this applies to all the other things we talk about.
Speaker A:There are times in our lives we are supposed to wait on the Lord, and I mean wait on the Lord, right?
Speaker A:I don't know if you've ever noticed or not, but when you get a refund check going to the Mailbox doesn't make it deliver or arrive faster.
Speaker A:Did you know that?
Speaker A:Were you aware of that?
Speaker A:Did you know that if you're waiting on a train track, looking down the tunnel does not make the train come faster?
Speaker A:Are you aware of that?
Speaker A:I'm just making sure.
Speaker A:And so sometimes when we act like we're going to be waiting on the Lord because we want to be faithful and wait on the Lord, we get into this place where we're supposed to wait with this confidence and this calm.
Speaker A:But sometimes.
Speaker A:And this.
Speaker A:What's amazing about this teaching is it is exact concert with what's coming in the second 60 minutes.
Speaker A:And it's like sometimes we try to be a little bit more manipulative into getting God to do something.
Speaker A:Gosh, Lord, if you do this, then I'll do this deal.
Speaker A:That's what we do.
Speaker A:So he says this.
Speaker A:Now, I want to make sure you understand this.
Speaker A:I don't want you to lose this really important.
Speaker A:So in Psalm 61, he says, My soul silently waits for the Lord.
Speaker A:So let's understand a few things about being Christian.
Speaker A:There are times when you do get to pursue God.
Speaker A:You get to knock.
Speaker A:You get to absolutely be persistent like crazy.
Speaker A:You get to call upon the name of the Lord.
Speaker A:You get all of these things where the Lord allows this moment, where you get to bash into the kingdom of God, bash into the kingdom of heaven, and go, knock, knock, knock, open up.
Speaker A:Let's go, pal.
Speaker A:I mean, there's times when that's called for.
Speaker A:Don't be silly.
Speaker A:Of course there are.
Speaker A:There's times where you cry out to God and you don't stop knocking, you don't stop crying, you don't stop pursuing.
Speaker A:You don't stop doing anything.
Speaker A:You just keep going, going, going.
Speaker A:Energizer Bunny stuff.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:But there are other times, other times where the Lord requires us to just be silent, to just be still, to zip the lip and wait for God knowing in faith he's going to operate on our behalf.
Speaker A:But it's holding yourself.
Speaker A:It's in your patience, possess your soul.
Speaker A:It's that understanding that you go, hold on now.
Speaker A:I've done all of this and all of this.
Speaker A:You know what?
Speaker A:I'm just going to stand here and watch the salvation of the Lord.
Speaker A:So you might be asking, and I would ask this very question when I'm reading scripture.
Speaker A:I ask God these questions while I'm reading.
Speaker A:I mean, I'm reading his book.
Speaker A:It's like Dad's reading to me kind of thing.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:We need wisdom to Discern which is which.
Speaker A:We need wisdom from God.
Speaker A:If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without finding fault.
Speaker A:So we need to ask God.
Speaker A:Plus, we need to be led by the Holy Spirit, directed by the Spirit of the Lord.
Speaker A:The Lord sometimes will put it on you to fire away.
Speaker A:Keep pushing, keep banging, keep yelling, keep crying, and you do it.
Speaker A:And there's other times where the Holy Spirit will go, be calm.
Speaker A:Sit.
Speaker A:Just sit down.
Speaker A:I always find this amazing.
Speaker A:And I bring this up.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's not directly connected, but I still find it amazing.
Speaker A:When Jesus did the miracle of the 5,000, you know what he told everybody before they got fed?
Speaker A:Sit down.
Speaker A:Sometimes you just sit down.
Speaker A:He told everybody, sit down.
Speaker A:Everybody sat down on the grass.
Speaker A:Sometimes we got to just sit there.
Speaker A:And so we need to know when we're lacking wisdom on whether we should be banging on the symbols or whether we should be there silently, even maybe mildly humming.
Speaker A:Either way, we need that.
Speaker A:We need the leading of the Holy Spirit, and we need to be grounded in the truth.
Speaker A:Can I say that with a greater sense of urgency to make sure we understand?
Speaker A:Grounded in the truth means this.
Speaker A:I just want to make sure you get this.
Speaker A:Grounded in the truth means this.
Speaker A:Grounded in the Bible, grounded in the word of God, Grounded in Genesis 1, run to Revelation 22, 21.
Speaker A:Immovable.
Speaker A:Those three things.
Speaker A:Wisdom from God, being led by the Holy Spirit, being grounded in truth, will tell you, will guide you, will direct you.
Speaker A:And when it's time to bang the drums, and when it's time to sit there and.
Speaker A:And look up and say, my redemption draws nigh.
Speaker A:And in this case, in this situation, David said, truly, my soul silently waits for God, for from him comes my salvation.
Speaker A:Listen, and all of this stuff, you have to know, it's not our own strength, it's not our own power.
Speaker A:It's not in our own wisdom.
Speaker A:Our deliverances, our salvations must come from God, or they are not complete.
Speaker A:Cause what we do is incomplete.
Speaker A:But what God does is perfection.
Speaker A:Get that?
Speaker A:That's worth a billion dollars right there, isn't it?
Speaker A:It is really.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:We do have somebody on the line, so let's give them a chance.
Speaker A:Let's send them on through and see where we're going with that.
Speaker A:Knock, knock.
Speaker A:This is David.
Speaker A:Who am I talking to?
Speaker B:This is Shannon.
Speaker A:Hi, Shannon.
Speaker A:How are you?
Speaker B:I'm well, thank you, David.
Speaker A:How can I help you?
Speaker A:How can I bless you?
Speaker B:Well, I was.
Speaker B:Thought I'd call it.
Speaker B:This is A first time caller.
Speaker B:So I thought I'd call in and give a praise report.
Speaker A:Awesome.
Speaker A:That is so amazing.
Speaker A:First, I want to thank you for that.
Speaker A:That's a great thing to do.
Speaker A:It really is a great thing to do.
Speaker A:Fire away.
Speaker A:The floor is yours.
Speaker A:Although it's a radio.
Speaker A:The floor is yours.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Well, I just want to thank the Lord because the Bible says that he's able to make.
Speaker B:To make all grace abound toward us.
Speaker B:So the last year and a half has been a little bit of a challenge.
Speaker B:In October 23, I had to leave my apartment because I didn't.
Speaker B:Didn't save up.
Speaker B:I just didn't balance my money very well and I ended up being evicted and I had to move out.
Speaker B:And that took about a year to get back into an apartment of my own.
Speaker B:But I'm thankful that I went to the local homeless shelter in Arlington, Texas, Arlington Life Shelter.
Speaker B:And through going there, finally I realized that even though I wasn't a protected veteran, the short amount of time that I did spend in the military, the reserve, it helped me to qualify for a lot of programs and get me back into an apartment and actually help me with my rent for the last six months.
Speaker B:And there's a lot of educational benefits that I didn't realize that my son and I can get at no cost as well.
Speaker B:So it's been a big blessing to humble myself to go to the homeless shelter to ask for help.
Speaker B:That opened up a lot of doors.
Speaker B:I met a good roommate that I have now from Nigeria.
Speaker B:She's also a Christian and very encouraging.
Speaker B:Her presence is very encouraging.
Speaker B:So that all that, you know, has been a big blessing to me.
Speaker B:So a lot of times, you know, like I said, God is able to make all grace abound toward us.
Speaker A:Isn't it amazing?
Speaker B:8, 28 that all things work for good, for us to love God.
Speaker B:So I'm thankful for all that.
Speaker B:And I.
Speaker B:A prayer request I guess would be.
Speaker B:My son is 19 and his dad and I have been, you know, struggling really hard to make a decent relationship with one another.
Speaker B:So we're still.
Speaker B:We've never been able to just not move on.
Speaker B:So we're trying to put our relationship back together and both Christians, but he's Church of Christ and I'm more like, you know, charismatic.
Speaker B:So it's really a big, a big difference.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:Gotcha.
Speaker B:I got you asking the Lord to, you know, none of us know everything, no matter what orientation we are in the faith.
Speaker B:So I just pray that both of us can be from humble so that we can see the word of God from the Lord's eyes, not from our denominational, perhaps, differences.
Speaker B:So we don't want to argue about the Bible.
Speaker B:We want to, like, experience it together.
Speaker B:That's my prayer.
Speaker A:What's great about that is actually the Bible talks about being humble to one another, and that's a step into unity.
Speaker A:And so that's a big element that you brought up.
Speaker A:So first let me say.
Speaker A:And you brought up Romans 8, 28.
Speaker A:And I'm glad you did, because it says that in the New American Standard.
Speaker A:It says that God called causes all things.
Speaker A:And so you don't think.
Speaker A:When you go through some of the darker times, you don't think, wow, I don't know how this is ever gonna turn.
Speaker A:And yet, amazingly, it does.
Speaker A:And ironically, most people don't know this, but that in Psalm 23, when David wrote that psalm, he was hiding for his life.
Speaker A:And that psalm, written in a cave in a dark moment, has become an inspirational word to millions of people, even though he wrote it in an enormous moment of darkness.
Speaker A:So you go through that and you think, gosh, can God really turn this around and cause us to be something completely different?
Speaker A:And the answer is yes, not only can he, but he will.
Speaker A:And so that's what's phenomenal.
Speaker A:And that's why that's just a great job, a great sharing, a great testimony.
Speaker A:And I want to pray for you and your husband and for your son because it's hard.
Speaker A:We've got a lot of stuff on this side, and we don't do it all right, but we have a God who can make it all right.
Speaker A:And so that's what we're going to ask the Lord to do to help you and your husband and your son.
Speaker A:Is that okay?
Speaker B:Your ex husband and we were never married, but okay.
Speaker A:Gotcha.
Speaker B:Moves toward that 19 years later.
Speaker B:Yeah, 26 years later.
Speaker B:Actually, my.
Speaker B:I have one daughter that's 26, and that's when I met him, when she was three months old.
Speaker B:So we're still 26 years later, still.
Speaker A:Still duking it out, wanting to be together.
Speaker B:But it's just hard, especially the religious difference.
Speaker B:It's very difficult.
Speaker A:Let's pray.
Speaker A:Let's do it.
Speaker A:Let's come before the Lord.
Speaker A:Let's do it.
Speaker A:Father, I come before you right now and I lift up my sister.
Speaker A:I thank you for that testimony.
Speaker A:That is amazing.
Speaker A:Thank you for doing those great things in her life and changing those things that seem to be just nothing but darkness and turning them from darkness into light.
Speaker A:And from mourning into dancing, and from just discouragement into encouragement.
Speaker A:And we just thank you for doing that for you.
Speaker A:And we ask you to continue to minister in that way.
Speaker A:And between her and her son and the Father and this situation, Lord, you are a God of peace.
Speaker A:And there will always be differences.
Speaker A:But, Lord, it's that wisdom that you try to get your kids to operate in, the humility that you try to get us to function in, that we could love one another the way that you commanded us to, because we're your kids.
Speaker A:That's the commandment, Jesus.
Speaker A:You gave us.
Speaker A:Love one another as I have loved you.
Speaker A:So may they both just increase in that love towards one another for the sake of their son.
Speaker A:And that could there be a moment, a time of a detente, a peace, a grace that enables them to move forward and not backwards in their situation, and that it would absolutely turn into a praise report for all three of them.
Speaker A:Because it's to your glory that it happens.
Speaker A:We ask for your blessing, your protection, your safety, your continued provision and your joy and your grace and mercy to be abundant for them all.
Speaker A:Lord, not only can you, but we believe you will because you are that good.
Speaker A:And we trust in you for that.
Speaker A:We thank you, and we pray this in the powerful and awesome name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:And amen.
Speaker B:Amen.
Speaker B:Thank you, David.
Speaker A:You're more than welcome.
Speaker B:Experience that, right?
Speaker A:The David Spoon experience.
Speaker A:An experience.
Speaker A:It is an experience.
Speaker B:Thank you.
Speaker B:I enjoy listening to you today.
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker B:I'm driving back from Midland.
Speaker B:I'm driving back into Fort Worth, and I'm listening to you.
Speaker B:So you're definitely on the other side of Abilene, loud and clear.
Speaker A:Glad to hear that.
Speaker A:And thank you for the call and call and.
Speaker A:Or text.
Speaker A:Anytime.
Speaker B:Okay, thank you on the air.
Speaker B:Repeat that text message again.
Speaker B:I didn't get to drop that down.
Speaker A:Okay, the text message is.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A:And so you're welcome to text if you have something that comes up and you just need prayer for it.
Speaker A:We pray for people.
Speaker A:It kind of seems like 24.
Speaker A:Seven.
Speaker A:Seven days a week, but it's just whenever you got something going on that needs it at the moment, don't hesitate.
Speaker B:Okay, thank you.
Speaker B:Thank you.
Speaker B:God bless you.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:God bless you, too.
Speaker A:Bye.
Speaker A:Bye.
Speaker B:Bye.
Speaker A:All right, folks, we're gonna go ahead and take our break here.
Speaker A:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
Speaker A:Don't go anywhere.
Speaker A:The David Spoon experience.
Speaker A:You don't know what's going to happen in one minute, let alone one hour from now.
Speaker A:And God, who it's impossible for God to lie, has made this commitment, made this offer, made this opportunity to both you and me and all of us around.
Speaker A:The simplicity is that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that the wages of that sin, the wages falling short, is death.
Speaker A:But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
Speaker A:And God, demonstrating his love for us, sent Jesus Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Speaker A:And if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, you will be saved.
Speaker A:God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Speaker A:There is nothing more important than that principle right there, the hope that is offered to believers who acknowledge and surrender to the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Speaker A:That's what's being offered.
Speaker A:That's what gives you encouragement.
Speaker A:That's what enables you to go on.
Speaker A:You're going to have a lot of sorrow in this life.
Speaker A:Job said it best.
Speaker A:A man's days are few and full of trouble.
Speaker A:But in the next, there is something so wonderful that even in man's mind we cannot retain it.
Speaker A:For eye has not seen, neither has ear heard, neither can the heart comprehend, can't even receive the great things which God has prepared for them that love him.
Speaker A:There's such a great thing that's coming for us, such a great place, such a wondrous place.
Speaker A:But you got to acknowledge the invitation.
Speaker A:You got to say yes.
Speaker A:Because if you don't say yes, you're not going to that wedding, the wedding of the Lamb.
Speaker A:Don't be that person.
Speaker A:Don't be that person that rejects it.
Speaker A:Don't be that person that lives in sorrow and grief and in sadness.
Speaker A:Don't be that person.
Speaker A:Be the one that says yes so that you can be a part of the great wedding feast, that you can be a part of the great celebration.
Speaker A:No, life is much more than this.
Speaker A:60, 70, 80, 90 years.
Speaker A:It's eternity on the line.
Speaker A:If you've already said yes.
Speaker A:Rest in the comfort.
Speaker A:Rest in that place, Rest in that goodness, that all is well.
Speaker A:And even on this side, if it's hard, on the other side, it's glorious.
