02-24-2025 part 1: Jesus Saves: The Assurance of Salvation in Times of Struggle
Dr. David Spoon elucidates the profound concept of divine kindness, illustrating how it is manifest in the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ. He articulates that salvation is not contingent upon human righteousness, but rather is a testament to God's mercy. Throughout our discourse, we explore the notion that God continuously extends opportunities for redemption, regardless of our shortcomings. Dr. Spoon emphasizes that this merciful disposition should inspire us to remain steadfast in our faith, even amidst trials and tribulations. As we navigate the complexities of our spiritual journey, we are reminded of the significance of prayer and community support in reinforcing our beliefs and sustaining our hope.
The podcast features an engaging exploration of faith, particularly focusing on the significance of prayer and the divine responses to human supplication. Dr. David Spoon articulates a profound belief that God indeed hears and answers prayers, albeit not necessarily in the manner that individuals might anticipate. He emphasizes the communal aspect of prayer, inviting listeners to share their requests, thus fostering a sense of connectedness among the audience. The discussion navigates through the complexities of divine mercy and grace, underscoring that salvation is a gift rooted in God's kindness rather than human merit. Dr. Spoon's reflections urge the audience to embrace their faith actively and to recognize the ongoing spiritual warfare that underpins their daily lives. Such a recognition serves to encourage resilience in faith amid challenges, reinforcing the notion that one must remain steadfast in their belief despite the adversities faced. Additionally, the episode incorporates an interactive trivia segment that adds a layer of engagement, further inviting participation from the audience in a light-hearted yet spiritually enriching manner. Speaker B:Hello, everybody.
Speaker B:When it's cold outside, I've got my mother.
Speaker B:Here's what's coming up on today's experience.
Speaker B:It's Dr.
Speaker B:Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DDDDDDDS, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.
Speaker B:Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.
Speaker B:But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh and our sound effects are funny.
Speaker B:Just ask Jacob.
Speaker B:The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.
Speaker B:We hope before this show is over, life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't.
Speaker B:If we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?
Speaker B:Because so far, so far, although we got Friday coming, we've been able to pay the radio rent so far.
Speaker B:Also, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.
Speaker B:Welcome.
Speaker B:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
Speaker B:Local, national and heavenly talk.
Speaker B:My name is Dr.
Speaker B:David Spoon.
Speaker B:I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.
Speaker B:That's a lot of those, by the way.
Speaker B:Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.
Speaker B:Here is the key to the show.
Speaker B:We don't know what we're doing.
Speaker B:We have no idea what's gonna happen and we don't care.
Speaker B:But for the next few minutes, I want to talk faith with you.
Speaker B:So here we go.
Speaker B:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
Speaker B:That thing e right there.
Speaker B:And so here it is.
Speaker B:Here's how we open up on Mondays.
Speaker B:In our audience are people that absolutely believe that God answers prayers.
Speaker B:Not kind of wishy washy.
Speaker B:We absolutely have faith for it.
Speaker B:People who are listening to this show, they're in the audience, they're with me.
Speaker B:They're a part of me.
Speaker B:All of this.
Speaker B:We believe that God hears and answers prayers.
Speaker B:It should be noted that he doesn't answer prayers the way we tell him to.
Speaker B:But obviously, unless Jesus was a liar, God answers prayers.
Speaker B:And so here we go.
Speaker B:We're asking you what can our prayer warriors pray for you about the people who listen to this show.
Speaker B:All of the people from all over, across, not just the United States, but the different countries, they believe.
Speaker B:So what can we do?
Speaker B:What can we pray?
Speaker B:What can we do to be a blessing for you?
Speaker B:That's what we're asking you.
Speaker B:If you Have a response to that.
Speaker B:If you have an opinion on something else, a comment, a thought or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.
Speaker B:Just reach out and give us a call.
Speaker B:Ahala.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:Talking to Jam and Jacob is like heading into the week with great faith and expectation.
Speaker C:Thank you, David.
Speaker C:Happy Monday.
Speaker B:Happy Monday to you, my friend.
Speaker B:So how was it working on the weekend?
Speaker B:Was it pretty simple for you this weekend?
Speaker C:Yes, pretty simple and easy.
Speaker B:Not too bad.
Speaker B:I'm very glad to hear that.
Speaker B:I will let you know that we were very successful in our laundry exclusive excursion.
Speaker B:I was able to do all four loads without any problem of anything leaking anywhere.
Speaker B:And then I had Christian music on.
Speaker B:Plus I was doing some studies and it was just, actually, it just turned out to be a big fellowship fest between me and the Lord.
Speaker B:But I was doing laundry.
Speaker C:Well, that's great.
Speaker C:I'm glad.
Speaker C:I know going into the weekend you're talking about, oh, it's going to be busy.
Speaker C:But I'm glad it turned out well.
Speaker B:It did.
Speaker B:And I appreciate that.
Speaker B:And I appreciate everybody's prayers on that, too.
Speaker B:And I am glad that your weekend was not overwhelming.
Speaker B:So that's always good to hear.
Speaker B:Let me connect you guys to a couple of things.
Speaker B:You know, you can give us a call.
Speaker B:It's a telephone.
Speaker B:It works.
Speaker B:Most of you have used one.
Speaker B:That's true.
Speaker B:You can also text us during the show, by the way, not Texas.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B:A little slower for those who need it to be a little slower.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B:There you go.
Speaker B:Additionally, you can send us an email.
Speaker B:Davidemustincrease.org that's my name, David, with a circle.
Speaker B:He must increase from John 3:30.
Speaker B:He must increase.
Speaker B:I must decrease because we're a nonprofit corporation.
Speaker B:So you can call us, you can text us, you can email us.
Speaker B:Why would you.
Speaker B:Well, we've already mentioned that if you've got a prayer request, we want you to bring it.
Speaker B:We're going to pray and join you in it.
Speaker B:Paul said, join me in my struggle by praying for me.
Speaker B: That's Romans: Speaker B:Those that want to look it up.
Speaker B:So we Join each other's struggles.
Speaker B:When we pray for one another, sometimes you'll come across a cause, something that you really connect to and, and you want to be a part of it.
Speaker B:Well, you can do that by praying for it.
Speaker B:That's how you do it.
Speaker B:And so we commit to that.
Speaker B:We want to make sure that you are aware that we will do our best.
Speaker B:No, it won't be perfect.
Speaker B:No, we don't say everything perfect, do everything perfect.
Speaker B:We ain't perfect, we're forgiven.
Speaker B:That's why we exist by the grace that comes from God.
Speaker B:That's why we exist by the grace that comes from Jesus Christ.
Speaker B:But we also have an active relationship with them and we want to be participatory in everybody's life, the good, the bad, and all of the struggle as well.
Speaker B:Because every one of us wants to be an encourager so that when we need it, we get encouraged.
Speaker B:Don't forget what a man sows, that shall he also reap.
Speaker B:So we ask you if we can pray for you.
Speaker B:Let us know if you've got a praise report.
Speaker B:Something that has happened, the Lord has done something.
Speaker B:It's phenomenal.
Speaker B:It's like the opening of the Red Sea.
Speaker B:It opened.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's a big answer.
Speaker B:Or maybe it's just, man, I got there on time and there was no way that should have happened.
Speaker B:You think, how is that possible?
Speaker B:I think all things are possible to him that believes.
Speaker B:So here's where we're going to lay that out.
Speaker B:If he's got a big request, a little request, a medium request, doesn't matter, let's bring it before the Lord, let's watch it turn into a praise report.
Speaker B:Oh, that's good.
Speaker B:Additionally, if there's just something you share, something you came across, just really blessed you, something happened at church and it was like it dawned on you, it clicked on you, it opened up your mind, became aware, your spirit responded to God's spirit and you just wanna share.
Speaker B:Okay, go ahead.
Speaker B:We encourage you to do that.
Speaker B:I want people to be aware of our February buddies issue.
Speaker B:When you hear somebody, somebody calls in or we're talking about somebody, or somebody gets mentioned in some capacity and it touches you a wee bit there, then we want you to pray for them.
Speaker B:You still have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and February to pray for them.
Speaker B:You don't have to pray six hours.
Speaker B:You don't have to pray six minutes.
Speaker B:Paul said, I mention you before the Lord.
Speaker B:The mention is good.
Speaker B:So we encourage you to participate in that.
Speaker B:And the only word I do want to give people or share with people before we get rolling for today is I do know that there's just a lot of warfare going on, spiritual warfare, and it's got nothing.
Speaker B:I know people are going to be like trying to connect it to the world events and so on and so forth.
Speaker B:Let me explain something to you.
Speaker B:Beyond the world headlines, past the world headlines, there is an invisible war and you are a part of it, whether you see it or not.
Speaker B:The fact that we don't see it just tells you how good the enemy is at it.
Speaker B:And I have mentioned before, we'll mention again.
Speaker B:I've been talking about this for 40 years and other people have mentioned it for, for much longer than that, maybe 60, 70 years.
Speaker B:And people way before us.
Speaker B:If we saw for a moment the unseeable war around us, all the angels and the demons, I venture to say there would be quite a few shocked people walking on planet Earth.
Speaker B:Well, there's enemies against you, and there are beings that are for you.
Speaker B:Since angels are ministers to the heirs of salvation, that would be you.
Speaker B:And so we want you to be aware with that stuff going on instead of just giving up.
Speaker B:You and I need to occasionally just stand firm.
Speaker B:We just need to be strong in our stability.
Speaker B:We just need to say, nope, I am not giving up.
Speaker B:I'm not turning away.
Speaker B:I'm not quitting.
Speaker B:You don't even have to make a big deal out of it.
Speaker B:Just say, nope, you have to like some of those shirts.
Speaker B:Not today, Satan.
Speaker B:That's a good one.
Speaker B:Come on.
Speaker B:That's a good one.
Speaker B:All right, we are in, by the way, Titus, and we are in chapter three.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B:Four.
Speaker B:Listen to this.
Speaker B:But when the kindness of God our Savior when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us, not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and the renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:Wow, that last sentence has a lot of theology in it, but let's just back it up.
Speaker B:So when the kindness of God our Savior appeared.
Speaker B:So let's just look at it, be practical about it, be understanding it.
Speaker B:It's very straightforward.
Speaker B:The Kindness of God, our Savior and His love for mankind appeared.
Speaker B:Who do you think is being mentioned here now?
Speaker B:Jesus is our Savior, The Father is our Savior.
Speaker B:The Holy Spirit saves us from time to time, doesn't he?
Speaker B:When we're doing dumb things or thinking dumb things and it redirects us and gives us a break.
Speaker B:But the kindness of God is manifested in his love for mankind because of Jesus.
Speaker B:I want you to listen to what I'm saying.
Speaker B:God's kindness has been throughout the entire existence of mankind.
Speaker B:When he wiped man out with the flood, he didn't have to redo, but he did.
Speaker B:He didn't have to give man a second chance, which was really a fifth chance, which is really a tenth chance, but he did and he does.
Speaker B:And by the way, you're a recipient of that same thing since he has given you 2nd, 5th, 10th, 20th, 205,000 chances.
Speaker B:And he keeps at it, never failing to be close to you.
Speaker B:And so when the manifestation of the kindness of God appears, you just think of it this way.
Speaker B:Jesus is the statement of God's kindness to humanity.
Speaker B:Well, you guys are self destructing.
Speaker B:You're self imploding.
Speaker B:You're thinking dark thoughts, you're doing dark things.
Speaker B:You need help.
Speaker B:Here's the light for the world.
Speaker B:We're in darkness.
Speaker B:Jesus is the light.
Speaker B:We're in bondage.
Speaker B:Jesus is the freedom.
Speaker B:We're in struggles not just of faith, but of health and of all these other things.
Speaker B:Jesus is the answer.
Speaker B:When we're afraid, Jesus says, my peace I give unto you.
Speaker B:Jesus is the answer of God's kindness to you and to me.
Speaker B:Isn't that cool?
Speaker B:The ultimate manifestation of the kindness of God was not just in the appearance of Jesus Christ, but in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Speaker B:While you are still enemies with God.
Speaker B:Jesus died for you.
Speaker B:That is some serious statement.
Speaker B:That is some serious manifestation of the kindness of God.
Speaker B:It's the kindness of God that allows us to repent.
Speaker B:It's the kindness of God that gives us salvation.
Speaker B:It's the kindness of God that He enables us to understand that he puts up with us.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:I can't put up with Bert barking for more than about a minute and a half.
Speaker B:Right after that, I start to lose my mind as well as I think our neighbors start to lose their love for us a little.
Speaker B:And so what you think of is you think that's annoying me after a minute and a half.
Speaker B:How many times have you and I annoyed God?
Speaker B:Yet his kindness is right there.
Speaker B:He doesn't kick us out of the family He.
Speaker B:He keeps talking to us.
Speaker B:He keeps loving us, he keeps protecting us.
Speaker B:He keeps watching over us.
Speaker B:He keeps providing for us as a lot of kindness.
Speaker B:But don't, don't, don't get stopped there.
Speaker B:Don't stop there.
Speaker B:Because he says this.
Speaker B:It's so good.
Speaker B:When the kindness of God, our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us.
Speaker B:So I want to say something about this and this.
Speaker B:This is something that really needs to be understood, right?
Speaker B:This is what Jesus does.
Speaker B:He saves people.
Speaker B:He saved you.
Speaker B:He's saving you.
Speaker B:And he will yet save you again.
Speaker B:Well, how does he keep doing?
Speaker B:I have no idea.
Speaker B:I'm just thankful he does.
Speaker B:But I want you to understand something.
Speaker B:Jesus saves you and I from the very eternal punishment we deserve.
Speaker B:And he saves us from the circumstances that we mess up.
Speaker B:And he saves us from the dumb things that we say.
Speaker B:And let's be honest, some of the dumb things that we do.
Speaker B:Whoops.
Speaker B:I said something over the weekend.
Speaker B:I was like, oh, I wish I could just pull every one of those syllables back.
Speaker B:You know who loves me anyway?
Speaker B:Jesus.
Speaker B:Do you know who loves you anyway?
Speaker B:Jesus.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:You're not perfect.
Speaker B:You're forgiven.
Speaker B:You're a part of the family.
Speaker B:When your child or somebody in your life does something wrong, the evidence that Jesus is at work in you is your desire to have a great heart towards them, even when you're mad.
Speaker B:Gosh, I can't believe that person did this.
Speaker B:Lord, help me to have the right attitude.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:That is a manifestation of Jesus in you, right?
Speaker B:But look what he says, because this is the creme de la creme.
Speaker B:I don't know if that's the right way to say it.
Speaker B:I don't care.
Speaker B:Here it is.
Speaker B:But when the kindness of God, our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us.
Speaker B:Not by works of righteousness that we have done.
Speaker B:I'm just going to let that resonate.
Speaker B:Not by works of righteousness that we have done.
Speaker B:Isaiah makes it clear that all our righteousnesses are filthy rags before the eyes of God.
Speaker B:You think?
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:Because he knows what's in in us.
Speaker B:Jeremiah 7:19.
Speaker B:He knows the heart is desperately wicked, evil.
Speaker B:It's got some bad stuff in there, you know, it's there, positionally, completely done, practically, still digging it out.
Speaker B:And here it is.
Speaker B:Based not on our righteousness, our good works, not by our works of righteousness.
Speaker B:Specifically identifying works of righteousness.
Speaker B:That's great that we have them.
Speaker B:And we should have works of righteousness.
Speaker B:I just want to say this.
Speaker B:We should.
Speaker B:I mean Ephesians 2, 8, 9.
Speaker B:People often miss verse 10, right?
Speaker B:Grace, you are saved through faith.
Speaker B:This is a gift of God.
Speaker B:No reason for you to boast so that you can create and operate in works of righteousness.
Speaker B:Masterpieces of righteousness that come from the Lord.
Speaker B:We do function in works of righteousness, but it is not what saves us.
Speaker B:It's Jesus that's the key.
Speaker B:And we do have manifestations, we do have moments.
Speaker B:We do great things.
Speaker B:We saved the right things.
Speaker B:There's times where, man, it's like we're walking hand in hand with the Lord.
Speaker B:Those are awesome, but those are not the reason.
Speaker B:So for everybody who wants to wear a badge because they're doing so wrong, that's putting it on the wrong chest.
Speaker B:Only the chest of Jesus gets the pin.
Speaker B:Not by our righteousness, is it?
Speaker B:No, we'll get to the rest of that in just a second.
Speaker B:In the meantime, I do have a trivia question to open up with.
Speaker B:Let's see if you guys can jump right into this.
Speaker B:The Ten Commandments are founded in which two books of the Bible?
Speaker B:Is it Genesis and Leviticus?
Speaker B:Is it Exodus and Deuteronomy?
Speaker B:Is it Joshua and Judges or Numbers and Ruth?
Speaker B:Out of those four choices, the Ten Commandments are found.
Speaker B:In which of these two?
Speaker B:Genesis and Leviticus, Exodus and Deuteronomy.
Speaker B:Joshua and Judges, Numbers and Ruth.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B:That's the number to call.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B:That's the number to text and then davidemustincrease.org that is the email.
Speaker B:Okay, that's the question I've asked you straight up there.
Speaker B:We're not going to change it.
Speaker B:Here we go.
Speaker B:The Ten Commandments are found in which two books out of these four answers?
Speaker B:Genesis and Leviticus, Exodus and Deuteronomy, Joshua and Judges, Numbers and Ruth.
Speaker B:Before we do anything else, I'm going to send you to the website.
Speaker B:What do you need to know?
Speaker B:This ministry operates by the donations of our listeners only.
Speaker B:We don't have any secret cash accounts.
Speaker B:We don't have any super cool.
Speaker B:If we do this, people give us this kind of thing.
Speaker B:We don't give away whistles and bells and Lamborghinis.
Speaker B:We don't do any of that stuff.
Speaker B:If you give to this ministry, we trust that God will reward you and bless you.
Speaker B:For that.
Speaker B:And we use those funds to make things take place, like radio rent, which is due on Friday, and we don't have.
Speaker B:So I'm believing by the goodness and gracious of God, it's going to come this week.
Speaker B:I do.
Speaker B:And so we're asking for your help in that.
Speaker B:We ask you to check out the website.
Speaker B:I've added a few other new things.
Speaker B:If you haven't been there for a while, there is a place to give.
Speaker B:There's a place to put a prayer request.
Speaker B:There's a place to put a praise report, and there's lots of encouraging material.
Speaker B:Check it out on the website.
Speaker B:Hemustincrease.org Prayer request hemos increase.org Praise report.
Speaker B:He.org Looking to give to this ministry.
Speaker B:He must increase.org Confused by what's happening right now.
Speaker B:He must increase.org he must increase.org you know, I was making that noise on Saturday night when the Red wings were up three, three to one with six minutes left in the game.
Speaker B:And then they gave up two goals in the last six minutes and then lost in overtime.
Speaker B:I was making that same noise.
Speaker B:I'm just telling everyone you felt like.
Speaker C:You'Re in the twilight zone.
Speaker B:I just couldn't believe what was happening.
Speaker B:I was, like, in shock.
Speaker B:I almost almost cried.
Speaker B:All right, anyway, we do have somebody ready to answer a trivia question.
Speaker B:Let's send them on through.
Speaker B:Knock, knock.
Speaker B:This is David.
Speaker B:Who am I talking to?
Speaker D:Hi, Dr.
Speaker D:David.
Speaker D:This is Joy Ann.
Speaker D:Hi, how are you?
Speaker B:I'm doing wonderful.
Speaker B:How you doing, Joy Ann?
Speaker D:Oh, I had such a blessed Sunday.
Speaker D:Was so awesome at church, both morning and evening.
Speaker B:Cool.
Speaker D:I better.
Speaker D:Yeah, I better know this answer because my evening class is a witnessing class that is based on the Ten Commandments.
Speaker D:Livingwaters.com way of the master.
Speaker D:So they incorporate the Ten Commandments into the witnessing process.
Speaker B:Awesome.
Speaker B:All right, let me set it up for you, and then you can tell everybody what the answer is because I strongly believe you'll be able to get this correctly.
Speaker B:I don't know why, just something about it.
Speaker B:Anyway, the ten commandments are found in which two books of the Bible?
Speaker B:Is it Genesis and Leviticus, Exodus and Deuteronomy, Joshua and Judges, or Numbers and Ruth?
Speaker D:It's in Exodus and Deuteronomy.
Speaker B:That is correct.
Speaker B:Amundo.
Speaker B:Yay.
Speaker B:Oh, very, very good.
Speaker B:Do you know what chapter is in each of those books?
Speaker B:Ooh.
Speaker D:Oh, I do not.
Speaker B:That's a good one.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:So it's Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5, Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5.
Speaker B:That's where it's located.
Speaker D:Okay.
Speaker B:That's a good one.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker D:Remember that for next.
Speaker D:I'm glad you had a good weekend and that the laundry wasn't too hard.
Speaker D:We prayed for you.
Speaker B:I appreciate that.
Speaker B:I'm just glad water didn't go all over the floor again.
Speaker B:We were laughing so hard.
Speaker B:But it's like I called Noel after I did the first, like, two minutes, like, it isn't leaking yet.
Speaker B:It isn't leaking.
Speaker B:And then I text her every two minutes going, still not leaking.
Speaker B:Still not leaking.
Speaker D:Oh, amen.
Speaker D:Praise God.
Speaker D:Well, and we're praying for the radio rent today to come in.
Speaker D:And also, I just want to share this real quick.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker D:And my friend Beverly, I visited her after my witnessing class last night.
Speaker D:We had such a blessed visit.
Speaker D:She said, I prayed that you would come.
Speaker D:And I spent over an hour with her and did my nursing.
Speaker D:Even though I'm a retired nurse, I helped her with the care in her room.
Speaker D:Is just like old times, you know, turning people in bed and changing things and knowing how to do it.
Speaker D:It was really fun.
Speaker D:And then one other quick thing when I After that, I went to my drugstore to update my profile, and I felt prompted by the Lord to ask the cashier, you know, how can I pray for you after he helped me so much?
Speaker D:And he says, you know, I have been praying to God a lot lately.
Speaker D:And so I went to my car and got some of my literature from my witnessing class.
Speaker D:And I went back and I said, this has been a blessing.
Speaker D:This is just some gospel literature, and I hope it blesses you.
Speaker D:And I, you know, I told him I was praying for him.
Speaker D:So anyway, it was just a wonderful Sunday.
Speaker D:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:Awesome.
Speaker B:That's awesome.
Speaker B:That's excellent job.
Speaker B:Way to be available for the Lord.
Speaker B:That is the right way to do it.
Speaker D:Good job.
Speaker D:And praying for you all.
Speaker D:All Right.
Speaker D:Thank you, Dr.
Speaker D:David.
Speaker D:Carry on.
Speaker B:All right, God bless.
Speaker D:Thank you.
Speaker D:You too.
Speaker B:Bye.
Speaker B:Bye.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker B:Excellent job there by Joy Ann.
Speaker B:Phenomenal.
Speaker B:Phenomenal.
Speaker B:So you could be praying for Joann and Cordelia and all the people that they're praying for and working with.
Speaker B:That would also be good.
Speaker B:That'd be a good thing.
Speaker B:You have five days left in February for Feb Buddies.
Speaker B:All right, let me go back to this little last portion of the text.
Speaker B:I don't want to leave it hanging.
Speaker B:Here's what it says.
Speaker B:It says, he saved us.
Speaker B:Thank you, Jesus.
Speaker B:Not by works of righteousness that we have done.
Speaker B:Oh, well, that's good.
Speaker B:But according to his mercy.
Speaker B:Wait, what?
Speaker B:Wait a minute.
Speaker B:He saved us according to his mercy?
Speaker B:Well, why is that important?
Speaker B:I'll tell you why it's so important.
Speaker B:Just so you can know.
Speaker B:If your salvation was based on works of righteousness that you and I, if that was what it was based on, it would be very unstable.
Speaker B:Because people are unstable.
Speaker B:But if it's based on the mercy of God, it's very secure.
Speaker B:Are you secure in your salvation?
Speaker B:Yes, because I'm secure that the mercy of God is greater than my dumbness.
Speaker B:That gives me a tremendous amount of assurance.
Speaker B:And that we are saved by his mercy.
Speaker B:Oh, I'll take it.
Speaker B:And what does that mean?
Speaker B:It means that we are saved by his mercy and not by our works.
Speaker B:And that is so stable.
Speaker B:The mercy of God is new every morning.
Speaker B:I guess my salvation is very secure, isn't it?
Speaker B:Because it ain't based on me.
Speaker B:And that's a good thing.
Speaker B:Can you say amen?
Speaker B:Because if not, you're probably saying oh me.
Speaker B:All right, we'll take a short break and then come back.
