02-17-2025 part 2: Giving God Our Financial Best: A Testament of Love

The act of giving, particularly in the context of financial contributions, emerges as a profound expression of our love for God, as articulated by Dr. David Spoon. This episode delves into the significance of tithes and offerings, drawing upon the biblical figure of Abraham, who exemplified the spirit of giving even before the establishment of formal laws governing such practices. We examine the fundamental principle that our financial contributions should reflect our appreciation for God's blessings, encouraging a mindset that values generosity over obligation. The discussion further emphasizes that true giving must stem from a place of joy and gratitude, rather than compulsion or reluctance. Ultimately, we are invited to consider how our financial best can serve as a testament to our love for the divine.

In this enlightening exploration of financial stewardship, I engage with the biblical narrative of Abraham and Melchizedek, elucidating the significance of tithing as an expression of love and gratitude towards God. Through a detailed examination of Genesis 14, I articulate the principle that our financial contributions should stem from a genuine desire to honor God rather than from a sense of obligation or legalistic adherence. The discussion reveals that Abraham’s act of giving a tenth of his spoils to Melchizedek was not merely a transactional gesture, but rather a heartfelt acknowledgment of God’s providence and faithfulness in his life.

As I delve deeper into the subject, I address the contemporary misunderstandings surrounding the practice of tithing, particularly the notion that it is a burdensome requirement imposed upon believers. Instead, I propose that tithing is an opportunity for believers to express their gratitude and love for God, reflecting a heart posture that values generosity as a spiritual discipline. I emphasize that true giving is characterized by a joyful spirit, as underscored in the New Testament teachings on generosity. This narrative invites listeners to introspectively evaluate their own practices of giving, encouraging a shift away from grudging contributions towards a model of giving that celebrates God’s blessings.

Concluding the episode, I reiterate the call for believers to embrace a lifestyle of generous giving, one that is motivated by love and appreciation for God’s grace. The theological implications of Abraham’s example serve as a powerful reminder that our financial stewardship is an integral aspect of our faith journey, and that through authentic giving, we align ourselves with God’s purposes in the world.

Takeaways:

  • In the discussion of tithes, both the historical context and spiritual significance are paramount.
  • Abraham's act of giving a tenth to Melchizedek occurred prior to any formalized law, showcasing a principle of faith.
  • The essence of giving should stem from love and appreciation for God, rather than obligation or legalism.
  • God desires our best offerings, as giving less is tantamount to insulting His generosity and grace.

Speaker A:

And now for something completely different.

Speaker A:

Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.

Speaker A:

It's marvelous, monumental, most fascinating, massively mind bending Monday as we join our hearts and minds as one, drawing closer to the king of kings and glorifying his name.

Speaker A:

First, we pick it back up in Genesis 14, starting with the second half of verse 20.

Speaker A:

And boy, oh boy, has there been controversy concerning this subject.

Speaker A:

We're going to discuss everybody's favorite message to hear.

Speaker A:

It's all about tithes and offerings and givings.

Speaker A:

Yay.

Speaker A:

So much fun.

Speaker A:

So much fun.

Speaker A:

So first up, before we can have any discussion about tithes, offerings or anything like that, verse 20 makes it clear that Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered or of the spoils.

Speaker A:

This does not mean that Abraham paid a tenth of everything he owned.

Speaker A:

It meant that he gave a tenth of what he gained in this venture.

Speaker A:

And at the same time, we should recognize that Abraham is paying tithes.

Speaker A:

A tithe means a tenth.

Speaker A:

And at this point, before there is a law in Leviticus or Exodus or any other legalized connection, Abraham, a man of faith, is giving based on what he received.

Speaker A:

I'm not sure why this is a bad principle for the church to teach.

Speaker A:

If we can't give our money to God, and if we can't give it cheerfully, then we shouldn't give it at all.

Speaker A:

Because doing it in a grunging, bemoaning spirit will bear no fruit.

Speaker B:

David Spoon's life has been an experience.

Speaker B:

While growing up in a Jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.

Speaker B:

Then David Spoon found Jesus Christ and his life completely changed.

Speaker B:

Speaker B:

After 35 years of ministry, David discovered a new path of service.

Speaker B:

He joined KAAM and this radio program began.

Speaker A:

Here's what else we're looking at during the show.

Speaker A:

Lessons for Surviving Living and Prevailing politics, entertainment and current events, personal revelations, spiritual observations, my life's insanities.

Speaker A:

So much more.

Speaker A:

Now, we've been telling you for ages it's not professional radio.

Speaker A:

And I just want to make sure you understand that we have people that can verify it's not professional radio.

Speaker A:

Now, besides being the nicest guy in radio, our very own Jam and J Camp, he's also known as the Jonny Quest of professional radio.

Speaker A:

So as the nicest guy on radio and the Johnny Quest of professional Radio.

Speaker A:

We will ask him.

Speaker A:

Jam and Jacob is the David Spoon Experience professional radio.

Speaker C:

No, it is not.

Speaker C:

David.

Speaker A:

Good answer, Johnny.

Speaker A:

Good answer.

Speaker A:

Anyway, do you love that one?

Speaker A:

I didn't call you bandit.

Speaker A:

That was good, right?

Speaker A:

I didn't call you IG or anything.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Gave you top billing.

Speaker A:

Top billing.

Speaker A:

Anyway, here it is.

Speaker A:

It's just.

Speaker A:

It's just radio.

Speaker A:

It's fun, it's interactive, it's engaging, it's different, it's goofy.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Those are all good descriptions of everything that we encounter.

Speaker A:

But what we are asking you is, how you doing?

Speaker A:

How's it going?

Speaker A:

How can we pray for you?

Speaker A:

What can we do to be a blessing to you?

Speaker A:

We'll do our best.

Speaker A:

That's what we'll do.

Speaker A:

So there's a couple of things that we want to make sure you understand.

Speaker A:

You can email us during the show.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or you can call us with a telephone.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's been around for a while.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Talking to Jammin Jacob.

Speaker A:

Oh, my.

Speaker A:

Is like knowing that your spiritual radio family has your back.

Speaker A:

That's nice.

Speaker C:

Thank you, David.

Speaker C:

Happy Monday.

Speaker A:

Happy Monday to you, my friend.

Speaker A:

Happy:

Speaker A:

Happy.

Speaker A:

Wow, it's gonna be really cold in a couple of days.

Speaker A:

Day.

Speaker A:

Happy.

Speaker A:

Everything else day.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

We got it all covered, right?

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Happy, happy.

Speaker C:

All happy President's Day.

Speaker C:

Happy.

Speaker C:

It's going to be freezing.

Speaker A:

Freezing day.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's gonna to be really cold.

Speaker A:

I just want to point out, I don't know if you did a lot, though.

Speaker A:

We were talking about this just briefly, but I understand there was some kind of special on for snl.

Speaker A:

Saturday Night Live.

Speaker A:

I did think it was funny that Babylon Bee did have the single best article on this issue and they simply said.

Speaker A:

And we are linked to it.

Speaker A:

They simply said, Saturday Night Live celebrating 25 years of not being funny for 25 years.

Speaker A:

Saturday Night Live.

Speaker A:

See, that is funny.

Speaker A:

See, they should use their writers.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

That's funny.

Speaker A:

It's been around 50 years, 25 years since they've been funny.

Speaker C:

Yeah, I'm always Because even, even me growing up, Saturday Night Live wasn't really, like, popular like that.

Speaker C:

I know they've gone for a long time, but, like, when it started all the way through, like the 90s, it was really popular, right?

Speaker A:

It was actually.

Speaker A:

It started in the 75, 76 era, and it was really, really, really funny and really popular.

Speaker A:

Especially when people remember, you know, Pepsi Pit.

Speaker A:

No, Coke.

Speaker A:

Pepsi.

Speaker A:

And then the samurai guy from the counter.

Speaker A:

I mean, some of those skits were just absolutely hilarious.

Speaker A:

And then they went goofy and, you know, politics ruins so many things.

Speaker A:

It's just incredible.

Speaker A:

I just think they just pull it back.

Speaker A:

I mean, they.

Speaker A:

They used to have Rosanna, Dana.

Speaker A:

Donna, Rosanna, Dana, Dana.

Speaker A:

It was so funny.

Speaker A:

It was great, great stuff.

Speaker A:

And then it just went like this.

Speaker A:

It's kind of how it went.

Speaker A:

Same with the NBA All Star Game, which is also something that I didn't watch either.

Speaker C:

I didn't watch it either.

Speaker C:

I haven't been into the NBA All Star Game in what feels like over 10 years at this point.

Speaker A:

It's been a long time.

Speaker A:

Because.

Speaker A:

Not fun.

Speaker A:

It's just what I gotta say.

Speaker C:

Yeah, they've come up.

Speaker C:

They come up with, like, new roles every season.

Speaker C:

It's just.

Speaker C:

Yeah, it's just a circus.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

So anyway, we're just discussing that.

Speaker A:

We just wanted to have everybody.

Speaker A:

If you want to chime in on that, you're welcome to do.

Speaker A:

But here's the bottom line.

Speaker A:

The bottom line is, why would you do all these things?

Speaker A:

Why would you text us?

Speaker A:

Why would you send an email?

Speaker A:

Why would you call.

Speaker A:

It could be for a praise report.

Speaker A:

It could be for a prayer request.

Speaker A:

We're here for that.

Speaker A:

It could be just something you want to share, or it could be something you happen to know from a biblical point of view.

Speaker A:

In Bible trivia.

Speaker A:

Is the book of Psalms in the Old Testament, the New Testament, or neither?

Speaker A:

I think that's a pretty straightforward question.

Speaker A:

Book of Psalms, is it in the Old Testament, New Testament, or neither?

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or you can send an email.

Speaker A:

Davidemustincrease.org so your question is the Psalms, Old Testament, New Testament?

Speaker A:

Neither.

Speaker A:

Backup question.

Speaker A:

Which psalm is the longest?

Speaker A:

That's your questions.

Speaker A:

Let's see if you can jump in on that.

Speaker A:

That's a good one.

Speaker A:

All right, folks.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

In the meantime, we're going to do our DNA, which we just really kind of did a Pre run or two in the last 30 minutes.

Speaker A:

D draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

Just spending time with God makes your life better.

Speaker A:

So for me, I do really deep, sincere devotions.

Speaker A:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Speaker A:

And then I kind of do a Sabbath on Sunday where I'm still spending time with the Lord but I don't force myself to do the same kind of levels of study.

Speaker A:

It's more of a casual engagement, so on and so forth.

Speaker A:

But I'll tell you when I went back, when I went back backwards and I got involved in the scriptures today after not doing it on Sunday, just really jump in there.

Speaker A:

The breath of the Word of God was powerful.

Speaker A:

The breath of the Word of God was reviving to my spirit.

Speaker A:

Reading the Bible, it just Psalm 19:7 the law of the Lord is perfect, able to restore the soul.

Speaker A:

The law of the Lord is perfect, able to restore the soul.

Speaker A:

That's what the Word of God can do in your spiritual life.

Speaker A:

Bring that restoration, that freshness that breathing upon.

Speaker A:

Isn't that awesome?

Speaker A:

That is awesome, right?

Speaker A:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and then in prayer.

Speaker A:

So let's say about this people, everybody think you go into prayer and you have to just have all these things and you have to say all these things.

Speaker A:

No you don't.

Speaker A:

One of the things that I've learned because my wife is so awesome is sometimes we can just be in the same room hanging out and just knowing that she's there with me and I'm there with her is the blessing that we need from each other.

Speaker A:

Well, ain't any different with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

Luke 9:26 if anyone is ashamed of me or my words, I'll be ashamed of him when I come in the glory from the Father with the angels.

Speaker A:

Never ever be ashamed of the Word of God.

Speaker A:

God created the universe.

Speaker A:

He can write a book.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker A:

Never be ashamed.

Speaker A:

So D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or His words.

Speaker A:

A Always be ready.

Speaker C:

To serve.

Speaker A:

To serve.

Speaker A:

That's what we just talked about.

Speaker A:

We were just in this text.

Speaker A:

We were just in this portion in Titus 3:1, 2, Paul, verse 2 of Titus 3 says, Be ready.

Speaker A:

It's just the same thing we talk about.

Speaker A:

You know, it's on your mark, get set, go.

Speaker A:

That whole thing.

Speaker A:

Just that mindset that says, I am here, Lord, use me.

Speaker A:

The Isaiah mindset that says, here am I.

Speaker A:

Send me the heart of a servant.

Speaker A:

Jesus came not to be served, but to serve what capacities?

Speaker A:

Whatever.

Speaker A:

Whatever the Lord has in mind for you, whatever he desires for you, as long as you are there.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker A:

I mean, that's just cool, cool, cool.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

So d draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

A Always be ready to serve.

Speaker A:

That's our DNA, our trivia question.

Speaker A:

Bible trivia question.

Speaker A:

Pretty straightforward.

Speaker A:

Is the book of Psalms in the Old Testament, the New Testament, or neither?

Speaker A:

And regarding the book of Psalms, what is the longest chapter?

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

If you think you know.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

In Genesis, we are at chapter 14 and we are at verse 20.

Speaker A:

Actually, we'll back it up a little to part of verse 19 or 18.

Speaker A:

It says Melchizedek, the king of Salem and of the priests of God Most High, brought him, referring to Abraham, bread and wine.

Speaker A:

Melchizedek blessed Abraham with this blessing.

Speaker A:

Blessed be Abram, by God most High, creator of heaven and earth.

Speaker A:

And blessed be God most High, who has helped you conquer your enemies.

Speaker A:

Talked about that last week.

Speaker A:

It's awesome.

Speaker A:

The graciousness of God helping us to overcome, Helping us to deal with things, helping us to.

Speaker A:

To move forward in life and not to be stuck.

Speaker A:

For Jesus came to set the captives free.

Speaker A:

Captive from what?

Speaker A:

I don't know what you're in bondage to.

Speaker A:

Maybe it's sin, maybe it's fear, maybe it's several different things.

Speaker A:

But Jesus sets the captive free.

Speaker A:

Now, the next portion is the one that everybody shakes and quakes with.

Speaker A:

Abraham.

Speaker A:

Then Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

A tenth of all the goods.

Speaker A:

All the goods that he had recovered.

Speaker A:

Actually, that word in the Hebrew is a little bit more like bounty.

Speaker A:

We'll get into that in a second.

Speaker A:

We do have somebody.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

Are they ready to answer their trivia question, yes, they are.

Speaker A:

Let's send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker D:

Hey, David, it's Shell.

Speaker A:

Hi, Shel.

Speaker A:

How are you?

Speaker D:

I'm doing wonderful.

Speaker A:

Well, I am glad to hear that.

Speaker A:

I know you're going to be getting ready for Wednesday.

Speaker A:

Being a little bit of cold.

Speaker D:

I don't even want to think about it.

Speaker D:

I moved here for a reason, and cold weather wasn't one of them.

Speaker A:

Nothing like global warming, anyway.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's classic.

Speaker A:

Anyway.

Speaker A:

All right, my friend, let me set you up on the tree of question, and then we can go from there.

Speaker A:

Okay, Here we go.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

The book of Psalms, is it the Old Testament, the New Testament, or neither?

Speaker D:

It's in that book, and it's in the old.

Speaker A:

It's in the old.

Speaker A:

Also the most quoted in the new.

Speaker A:

I always thought that was fascinating.

Speaker A:

And additionally, do you know what the law chapter is out of the Psalms?

Speaker D:

119.

Speaker A:

Say it again.

Speaker D:

119.

Speaker A:

That is correct.

Speaker A:

Amundo again.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Excellent job, my brother.

Speaker A:

Excellent.

Speaker A:

Excellent job.

Speaker A:

And is there anything we could be praying for you about, asking the Lord to help you in.

Speaker D:

Well, let me just tell you what all happened since last time you prayed for me.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker D:

Turns out I've actually gotten healthy, so the medications I were taking were messing me up mentally.

Speaker D:

I mean, I.

Speaker D:

Mentally.

Speaker D:

Probably mentally, too, but.

Speaker D:

But physically.

Speaker D:

And that's what caused what happened last week.

Speaker D:

But I dropped some medications, so that.

Speaker D:

That's the positive side.

Speaker D:

And then if you wanted a quick prayer request put for my supervisor, he's going through some family issues.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Who's going through the family issues?

Speaker D:

My supervisor.

Speaker A:

Oh, your supervisor.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Well, first of all, I'm very appreciative, assuming you're just doing everything through doctors and so on and so forth, but I'm really appreciative that you're doing better, because I love you, Dr.

Speaker A:

Google.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

There you go.

Speaker D:

I'm just kidding.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Okay, let's do this.

Speaker A:

Let's pray for your supervisor.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Because that's probably intense situation, very difficult.

Speaker A:

But I want to let you know how blessed we are that the Lord is blessing you and with you.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker D:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Keep that in mind.

Speaker A:

Let's do it.

Speaker A:

Father, we come before you right now.

Speaker A:

We pray for Shell's supervisor.

Speaker A:

Lord, you know the nuance, you know the in and the out.

Speaker A:

We don't have to know everything to ask you to be a part of their situation and to bring relief and grace and mercy to things that hurt people and create deep levels of pain.

Speaker A:

We ask for your graciousness, your goodness, your kindness, your faithfulness to overwhelm in this circumstance and let this situation be resolved.

Speaker A:

And let it be known that it's because of your grace that it is resolved and that you would help in them in that process.

Speaker A:

And let Shel continue to pray for his supervisor and let that prayer be sweet aroma before you as he continues to petition and you continue to respond and you bless these people.

Speaker A:

We need your help, Lord, in so many different areas.

Speaker A:

But let us never lose hope, Lord, because you are a God of hope and comfort.

Speaker A:

We pray for this situation and we pray in Jesus name.

Speaker A:

Amen and amen.

Speaker D:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

My brother.

Speaker A:

Love you in the Lord.

Speaker A:

Really, really glad that you are doing better.

Speaker D:

Thank you.

Speaker D:

I love you too, my friend.

Speaker D:

You have a great, great day.

Speaker A:

Thank you.

Speaker A:

God bless.

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

Speaker A:

Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God.

Speaker A:

God for you and I.

Speaker A:

God provided his own burnt offering, his own lamb of sacrifice.

Speaker A:

Because our presentations are not that hot.

Speaker A:

And this is where you get the understanding that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Speaker A:

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Speaker A:

How many?

Speaker A:

All and the wages of sin is death.

Speaker A:

That's the result.

Speaker A:

But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Speaker A:

And God showed his love for us while we were still sinners.

Speaker A:

That Christ died for us.

Speaker A:

That's the love.

Speaker A:

He was the sacrificial lamb.

Speaker A:

And if you have never made that decision, I invite you right now to make that decision to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord.

Speaker A:

If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Speaker A:

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Speaker A:

This is where you get John 3:16, which people will say is the gospel in a scripture which is not far off.

Speaker A:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Speaker A:

That gift is available for you.

Speaker A:

And if you have never exercised that acceptance of that gift, I encourage you to do so by saying this prayer.

Speaker A:

And don't go anywhere, because I got another one for all of us.

Speaker A:

Heavenly Father, I surrender my life.

Speaker A:

Lord Jesus Christ, I give you my heart.

Speaker A:

Pour out your holy spirit.

Speaker A:

For I believe you rose from the dead.

Speaker A:

And I confess with my mouth you died for my sins.

Speaker A:

According to the scriptures.

Speaker A:

You were buried and three days later you rose again.

Speaker A:

You ascended to the Father and are coming back soon.

Speaker A:

And I thank you for this new life you've given me.

Speaker A:

I praise you and pray this in your name.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

If you prayed that prayer for the first time, you are now a Christian.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Smith.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

That's Ka Men 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

I hope you guys are having a wonderful Monday.

Speaker A:

A fun day, Monday.

Speaker A:

Don't forget, you don't have to wake up and go, oh, no, it's Monday.

Speaker A:

It's my birthday.

Speaker A:

Try not to do that.

Speaker A:

That's not an awesome thing.

Speaker A:

Don't forget our modified schedule.

Speaker A:

On Wednesday, we will be doing a replay so that Dave can spend time with Noelle some special times.

Speaker A:

As we've not been able to spend a lot of time together in this last week.

Speaker A:

As she was doing her Valentine's job, working more hours than I would ever work at any job anywhere, I will tell you this one thing.

Speaker A:

Thank you for all of those who have been praying for her to have strength and to get through.

Speaker A:

And just as a side note, she has been the manager at this particular flower store.

Speaker A:

Flower.

Speaker A:

The Thumb flower store in Flower mound for just about two months.

Speaker A:

Or month.

Speaker A:

Yeah, about two months.

Speaker A:

This is her first Valentine's Day there, and her store was up over last year 36%, which is a lot.

Speaker A:

That's my wife.

Speaker A:

She's really good at what she does, so I'm very thankful for everybody's prayers.

Speaker A:

She did really, really well.

Speaker A:

I'm just really proud of her.

Speaker A:

She's really just a great, great, great, great, great woman.

Speaker A:

All right, so.

Speaker A:

All right, let's get back into what we're talking about, because this is everybody's favorite discussion.

Speaker A:

I think you guys all know this.

Speaker A:

Abraham says, then Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.

Speaker A:

I want you to think about that as I give you your next trivia question.

Speaker A:

You guys should be able to get this.

Speaker A:

Whose vision and revelation saw the souls of God's martyrs underneath the altar?

Speaker A:

Whose vision in Revelation saw the souls of all of God's martyrs underneath the altar?

Speaker A:

This is out of Revelation 6.

Speaker A:

9.

Speaker A:

Is that John, Isaiah, Ezekiel, or Daniel?

Speaker A:

That's the question.

Speaker A:

Props to Joanne and Cordelia got the answer and before I even finished asking the question.

Speaker A:

Revelation 6, 9.

Speaker A:

Whose vision in Revelation saw the souls of God's martyrs underneath the altar?

Speaker A:

Revelation 6, 9.

Speaker A:

Was it John, Isaiah, Ezekiel, or Daniel?

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

You can send an email.

Speaker A:

Davidemosingcreat.

Speaker A:

So what is the big deal about Abraham paying tithes?

Speaker A:

And one of the big deals is we do a lot of references in some of the teachings.

Speaker A:

A lot of pastors do this, and a lot of teachers and scholars do this process where they're like, well, you know, tithes.

Speaker A:

You go into Malachi and you get to find out that people were robbing God because they were not paying tithes and offerings as the scripture had commanded them.

Speaker A:

Okay, now I want to say this.

Speaker A:

I'm going to separate these teachings so you can kind of walk with me in this and understand what I'm trying to say.

Speaker A:

In the Old Testament, in Exodus and in Leviticus, there is prescription, there is a requirement for giving.

Speaker A:

And what God established was through Moses, is a 10% tithes.

Speaker A:

And then there's offerings.

Speaker A:

There's no question that's in the Old Testaments.

Speaker A:

No questions are part of the process.

Speaker A:

In fact, part of the new New Testament.

Speaker A:

Jesus said, you ought to have been doing these other things without forgetting the former things.

Speaker A:

And he was referencing tithe.

Speaker A:

So it's not an issue of whether it's acceptable or good.

Speaker A:

It is acceptable.

Speaker A:

It's good.

Speaker A:

It is right.

Speaker A:

It's all those things.

Speaker A:

That's not what I want you to look at.

Speaker A:

Okay, just listen.

Speaker A:

I want you to understand that Abraham paid tithes before there was a law.

Speaker A:

Did you hear what I said?

Speaker A:

Abraham paid tithes before there was a law.

Speaker A:

There was no law.

Speaker A:

Abraham had gotten this bounty.

Speaker A:

He had recovered Lot.

Speaker A:

Lot's materials, the people, everything that's going on.

Speaker A:

Melchizedek comes and blesses him.

Speaker A:

Abraham takes a tenth of what he has get and gives it unto the Lord.

Speaker A:

He gives it to Melchizedek, but he's giving it unto God to show the appreciation.

Speaker A:

This is 10% of what he actually gained in this venture.

Speaker A:

There are some teachers that say, well, Abraham gave 10% of everything he owned.

Speaker A:

It does not say that.

Speaker A:

Just does not say it.

Speaker A:

I understand they want to say that because they want more money, but that's wrong.

Speaker A:

He gave a tenth of the spoils.

Speaker A:

He gave a tenth of the gain.

Speaker A:

He didn't give a tenth of everything he owned.

Speaker A:

At that spot, in that position, does that mean you shouldn't.

Speaker A:

No, I didn't say that.

Speaker A:

I'm simply focusing on Abraham.

Speaker A:

Abraham did not have a law.

Speaker A:

It did not have a requirement.

Speaker A:

He did not have a tax.

Speaker A:

He did not have a bounty.

Speaker A:

He did not have any of that.

Speaker A:

He gave 10% because he wanted to give it unto the Lord.

Speaker A:

I want you to hear that even in the offerings, as we talk about the offerings with Cain and with Abel.

Speaker A:

Cain not giving the best of, but some of.

Speaker A:

Whereas Abel gave the best of.

Speaker A:

The idea behind giving unto the Lord is for you and I in our giving, to respect God in our giving.

Speaker A:

It is not to insult him.

Speaker A:

And people get really.

Speaker A:

They get uptight.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

I'm serious.

Speaker A:

They do.

Speaker A:

They get really mad because people think that, well, if I give it to the church, it doesn't matter if it's broken or whatever.

Speaker A:

They should just be appreciative that I gave it.

Speaker A:

That's a wrong spirit.

Speaker A:

Any giving that takes place with that spirit never going to be responded to by God with blessing because it's the wrong spirit.

Speaker A:

In fact, God goes on to tell the people, in the book of Malachi, you've given of your materials.

Speaker A:

You've given animals that are wounded, offerings that are less than.

Speaker A:

And this is the whole premise with God, you and me and us and our engaging with God.

Speaker A:

You don't give God anything less than the best you have.

Speaker A:

Because when we do that, we insult him.

Speaker A:

I don't care if you give to this ministry.

Speaker A:

I want the ministry to continue.

Speaker A:

I think it's great.

Speaker A:

I hope it does.

Speaker A:

But in giving to God, you give him from your heart the best of what you have to offer him.

Speaker A:

And to give him anything less is to insult him.

Speaker A:

Then don't give it.

Speaker A:

Why would you insult God?

Speaker A:

Now, I've gone up and down in this, in my own personal life.

Speaker A:

So I have my own little struggle with this thing, okay?

Speaker A:

Because I was in that one church and we had to pay double tithes in an offering which was like 25%.

Speaker A:

So then I go back and I go forth and I go back and I go forth.

Speaker A:

So in the last several years, we've done a lot better job being on top of it.

Speaker A:

We did settle, and I did settle with the Lord.

Speaker A:

I just want to be able to give to multiple places.

Speaker A:

And so we give to multiple churches.

Speaker A:

There's 22 churches on our church list, plus there's about 10 church ministries.

Speaker A:

I just gave to a new one actually, just this other day.

Speaker A:

Here's the thing about that.

Speaker A:

Then I'm giving it unto the Lord, and I'm giving the best that I can give.

Speaker A:

And it's not a ton, but it's the best.

Speaker A:

And I think that's what God wants from us.

Speaker A:

He wants our best since he gave us Jesus, which is his best.

Speaker A:

Following that, I can make a whole bunch of.

Speaker A:

I can argue for it, I can argue against it.

Speaker A:

I can take both sides.

Speaker A:

You can certainly understand you must pay tithes.

Speaker A:

You must not pay tithes.

Speaker A:

You got to pay tithes on gross.

Speaker A:

You got to pay tithes on net.

Speaker A:

You understand all the stuff that everybody's coming up with and all their fancy teachings.

Speaker A:

Fine.

Speaker A:

Let's just look at Abraham.

Speaker A:

Abraham gave a tenth because he wanted to let God know how much he appreciated God keeping him safe and giving him victory.

Speaker A:

Just follow that model.

Speaker A:

Since we are supposed to follow the example of Abraham in our faith.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

How can that be bad is what I'm trying to say.

Speaker A:

You understand what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

Again, whether you can or can't give to this mission is not the issue of this teaching.

Speaker A:

The issue of this teaching is straightforward.

Speaker A:

Give to the Lord the best you have to offer him.

Speaker A:

Give it to him because you love him and appreciate Him.

Speaker A:

Give him your best.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Let me check with Jacob.

Speaker A:

I think I'll probably.

Speaker A:

Should I answer this trivia question or.

Speaker A:

So here's What I'm going to do, because we went over and I could really teach on this a long time.

Speaker A:

I just want you to hear what I'm saying about it.

Speaker A:

The trivia question, by the way, that we did throw out there.

Speaker A:

Whose vision in Revelation saw the souls of God's martyrs underneath the altar According to Revelation 6, 9, was it John, Isaiah, Ezekiel, or Daniel?

Speaker A:

It was John because he's the author of Revelation.

Speaker A:

Aha.

Speaker A:

The other three are Old Testament boys.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker A:

All right, we'll take a short break and then we'll come back.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break.

Speaker A:

We'll be back.

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker A:

Here we go.

Speaker A:

Let me give you an update on Easton Scott.

Speaker A:

A lot of tough stuff that my daughter and my son in law have been going through.

Speaker A:

I did send an email out.

Speaker A:

I don't know if Julie, if you got the email or not.

Speaker A:

I just sent it out to everybody.

Speaker A:

So he was going through 20 and 30 seizures per episode and they've got that down to a dramatically less amount.

Speaker A:

But the sad news is that from a medical point of view, Easton does not, it does not appear as, according to the doctors, that he will be able to speak or be able to care for himself.

Speaker A:

And so what the result of that is is that Julieann and Jared, my son in law and my daughter have recognized that God has put them in a position to be the best parents to love Easton Scott with all that they can and give them the best life that they can.

Speaker A:

But while that's going on, they're not gonna stop believing that something can change.

Speaker A:

And the doctors even said this is territory we don't even know.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Cause this is a problem that not very many people have had.

Speaker A:

So very few.

Speaker A:

Everybody is different.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And they have like 230 total cases in the world that they have records on, which is like.

Speaker A:

So they're like, we don't know.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And it's like, so I just wanna read this one thing my daughter wrote.

Speaker A:

It's a fantastic.

Speaker A:

She wrote this.

Speaker A:

You know, it's not easy to sit there and write a Facebook post that tells all the things you've been going through.

Speaker A:

And so I'm not going to read everything, but I'm going to read the last paragraph because I thought that was really significant.

Speaker A:

She wrote, scientifically, Easton does not have much of a chance.

Speaker A:

His best case scenario is he may possibly be able to walk and say three to five words One day.

Speaker A:

But God can help him.

Speaker A:

He's not afraid of impossible odds.

Speaker A:

And if Easton is healed one day, there will be no question as to where it comes from.

Speaker A:

It will not be because of therapy.

Speaker A:

It will not be because of medication or diet.

Speaker A:

It will be because of God's undeniable healing power.

Speaker A:

So in the meantime, we choose to raise a hallelujah and trust in God, ladies and gentlemen, that is faith.

Speaker A:

Now, the idea that it's gonna be simple and everything's gonna be great, and they're trying to make pie in the sky that doesn't exist at all.

Speaker A:

If you read this, and I think wonder Julia can attest to it, she tells you this is ugly, right?

Speaker A:

This is not a good situation.

Speaker A:

It's going to change our lives.

Speaker A:

He's never going to be able to be unattended.

Speaker A:

It doesn't look good.

Speaker A:

And you know, as a parent, you're heartbroken.

Speaker A:

They have two other children.

Speaker A:

They don't want to have any loss in their communication with their kids, but they're going to have to give extra attention.

Speaker A:

They were going to have a fourth child.

Speaker A:

They're not sure they're going to do that now.

Speaker A:

So you got a lot of things in play.

Speaker A:

But what you can't deny is that I won't take credit, but I'll stand in there as a grandparent and as a parent and say what a fantastic position of faith that my daughter has grown into.

Speaker A:

She has made the determination that she will do the best that she can as a human being to give this child the best life she can.

Speaker A:

And she will not quit hoping.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

That's Ka.

Speaker A:

Amen, 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

I do want stuff, Steve Areno, to know that I have gotten both of your texts and you're doing an excellent job on the trivia, my brother.

Speaker A:

Just a quick shout out for him.

Speaker A:

Steve Areno, for those that do not know, is Aunt Deb's hubby.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker A:

We're all in the family here.

Speaker A:

Kind of like all in the Family, only not like the show because we're not like the show.

Speaker A:

Oh, nevermind.

Speaker A:

Anyhow.

Speaker A:

All right, so we have been talking about giving.

Speaker A:

We do have somebody on the line.

Speaker A:

We want to go ahead and send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker E:

Hello.

Speaker A:

Hello.

Speaker A:

Hi.

Speaker A:

Hi, Ann, how are you?

Speaker E:

Hi, I'm Cole.

Speaker E:

I'm sorry, I'm Late calling.

Speaker E:

I walked to the dollar store to get me bread and some things since we're having this bad freeze for like three days and three nights.

Speaker E:

And I'll be in the house.

Speaker E:

And so I wanted to call because the wind has changed around to the southeast now and that it's cold and it's just blowing that pollen like crazy out there.

Speaker A:

Do you have a place.

Speaker A:

Are you able to be in a warm place?

Speaker A:

Is your house warm?

Speaker A:

Do you have blankets?

Speaker A:

Do you have the heater?

Speaker E:

Yes, I've got plenty of blankets.

Speaker E:

I've got toe warmers.

Speaker E:

I've got hand warmers and.

Speaker E:

Yeah.

Speaker E:

And staying in one room as much as possible, you know, the warmest one of all.

Speaker E:

And, yeah, I'm prepared.

Speaker E:

So I've got a little bit of groceries, some more groceries, and my sister brought me some food the other day.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker E:

Well, I just want to be able to make it, you know.

Speaker A:

Yep, yep.

Speaker E:

And not be, you know, fussing and worry and, you know, I wanted to ask you, you know, I'm an older lady, and there's some things I don't get done because, you know, you just don't have the energy or whatever, like when you were younger, and somebody will say, well, why didn't you do so and so.

Speaker E:

Or so and so, you know.

Speaker E:

Well, you know, if you're tired, you don't feel good or whatever, and then they say, well, you know, just get your spouses up and get.

Speaker E:

Get going and get together.

Speaker E:

You know, don't.

Speaker E:

Don't be that way.

Speaker E:

But, you know, I just think that it just, you know, hits us.

Speaker E:

Sometimes we're full of energy and sometimes we're not.

Speaker A:

That is true.

Speaker A:

I can tell you.

Speaker A:

That's exactly right.

Speaker A:

Yesterday, I was just myself.

Speaker A:

I was very depleted on energy.

Speaker A:

It did help to get a little extra sleep for me, but that does happen to a lot of people.

Speaker A:

So here's what I want to do for you, Ann.

Speaker A:

I want to pray that you will be safe.

Speaker A:

I want to pray that you will be warm.

Speaker A:

I want to pray that the Lord will comfort you so that you won't have, you know, things to be afraid of, and that you will have the energy you need to do the things you need to do.

Speaker A:

And I want to pray that the Lord will comfort you so that you will know he loves you.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker E:

Well, you know, Dr.

Speaker E:

David, what I have noticed, I have all these allergy problems from different days, you know, and it depends upon what's stirring outside.

Speaker E:

And it'll just sometimes make me so weak, like it just drains my energy out of me, that whatever stirring out there, you know, in the wind, all that pollen and everything.

Speaker A:

Well, let me.

Speaker E:

So let's pray for that, cope with it.

Speaker E:

And I.

Speaker E:

I don't like taking medicine, but if I have to, you know, doing the thymus medication, I will, you know.

Speaker A:

Yeah, makes sense.

Speaker E:

I want to get sick.

Speaker E:

And I thank the Lord that I have not had the flu.

Speaker E:

And I get a flu shot every year, but I've had pneumonia in past years, you know, different ages that I was.

Speaker E:

So I'm trying to stay healthy, but I still get discouraged, you know.

Speaker A:

Well, let's pray about it.

Speaker A:

Let's ask the Lord to help you so that you don't get discouraged and that you.

Speaker A:

You do really well over these next three or four days.

Speaker A:

Why don't we do that?

Speaker E:

Yes, sir.

Speaker A:

Let's pray.

Speaker A:

Let's pray.

Speaker A:

Father, we come before you right now.

Speaker A:

We thank you for Ann, and we, first and foremost, everybody in this audience, Lord, you look at everybody's heart right now.

Speaker A:

We ask you to bless Ann.

Speaker A:

We ask you to bless her with multiple things.

Speaker A:

Lord, she's going to be facing the cold, a little bit afraid, a little bit of concern, a little anxiety.

Speaker A:

We ask you to remove that anxiety from her mind through the power of your truth.

Speaker A:

And the truth is, you will not abandon her.

Speaker A:

You will not forget her.

Speaker A:

She will not be left alone.

Speaker A:

You are with her and you love her.

Speaker A:

And we are asking you, Lord, to affirm your presence in her life.

Speaker A:

Give her an ability, a sustainability, so she doesn't feel so drained as often as she does.

Speaker A:

And allow her, Lord, to actually not be afraid, but to be in comfort because you are watching over her.

Speaker A:

Now, we're her brothers and sisters, and, Lord, she's calling out for some help.

Speaker A:

And we're asking you, as all of our dads, you are a dad, to help her, to comfort her, to protect her, and, Lord, to keep her warm and to keep her healthy.

Speaker A:

And that she would do well and not be afraid, but her faith would overcome her fear and she would see your grace in these next few days.

Speaker A:

Comfort Ann, be with her, love on her as we lift her up before you and ask you to bless her in all these different areas she needs help in, and let her know we're thinking of her.

Speaker A:

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and savior.

Speaker A:

Amen and amen.

Speaker E:

Amen.

Speaker E:

And we can pray, too, that the other people will make it through this freeze, because I know it's hard on a lot of people.

Speaker A:

Yes, it is.

Speaker E:

Everybody make it okay?

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

And excellent.

Speaker A:

Just keep us posted on how you're doing.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker E:

Thank you, sir.

Speaker E:

You take care.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

God bless you.

Speaker E:

God bless you.

Speaker A:

Bye.

Speaker E:

Bye.

Speaker A:

All right, so that's a great person for people to be praying for, is our very own Ann.

Speaker A:

And she got February, buddy.

Speaker A:

She's got a couple days she needs to get through.

Speaker A:

Take that on.

Speaker A:

That's a good thing to take on.

Speaker A:

That's a good element to be praying for.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, here is your next trivia question.

Speaker A:

A little more challenging, but that's.

Speaker A:

That's how we do it.

Speaker A:

What's the only miracle reported in all four gospels of the New Testament?

Speaker A:

Is it turning water into wine, the feeding of the 5,000, raising Lazarus, or parting of the Red Sea?

Speaker A:

Which of those four miracles is in all four gospels?

Speaker A:

Nice job, Al, stepping in there.

Speaker A:

What was the only Jesus?

Speaker A:

What was Jesus only miracle recorded in all four gospels of the New Testament?

Speaker A:

Turning water into wine, feeding the 5,000, raising Lazarus from the dead, or parting the Red Sea.

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

And here's our real commission for everybody to be aware of.

Speaker A:

We exist by donation only, so if you can donate, do so.

Speaker A:

If you can't donate, pray for us, because we'd like to keep doing the ministry.

Speaker A:

That simple.

Speaker A:

Check out all the stuff we have on the website.

Speaker A:

Hemustincrease.org Hemustincrease.org Gotta rehearse my song.

Speaker A:

Whoa.

Speaker A:

That's kind of pretty before I get started, ain't it?

Speaker A:

Oh, Froggy money Gordon.

Speaker A:

He did right.

Speaker A:

Crambo.

Speaker C:

Do you remember where that's from?

Speaker A:

Vaguely.

Speaker A:

My brain is just full of so Many things.

Speaker A:

Where is that from again?

Speaker C:

It's an episode of Tom and Jerry.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

Come on, people.

Speaker A:

If that doesn't make you laugh, you are just.

Speaker A:

You're just not.

Speaker A:

You're just not laughable.

Speaker A:

You gotta laugh.

Speaker A:

Gotta have a little bit of humor in this.

Speaker A:

You have to.

Speaker A:

I mean, how funny was that?

Speaker A:

I can't believe this is called Christian radio.

Speaker A:

All right, do we have somebody that runs the answer to trivia question?

Speaker A:

Is that we got.

Speaker C:

Yes, we do.

Speaker A:

All right, let's send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker F:

Hello, David.

Speaker F:

This is Curtis, brother.

Speaker F:

I apologize for the background noise.

Speaker F:

I'm rolling down the road as usual.

Speaker A:

Not a problem, my brother.

Speaker A:

Not a problem.

Speaker A:

All right, let me set you up on the question and then you can give the big answer.

Speaker A:

You ready?

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

What's the only miracle reported in all four gospels of the New Testament?

Speaker A:

Is it water into wine, feeding the 5,000, raising Lazarus or parting the Red Sea?

Speaker F:

David?

Speaker F:

I believe it was feeding the 5,000.

Speaker A:

That is correct, Amano, sir.

Speaker A:

And I just think it's worth noting that it's the only miracle outside of the death, burial, resurrection part.

Speaker A:

It's the only miracle that in fact, is in all four.

Speaker A:

Only creative miracle.

Speaker A:

And it has to do with providing for our needs.

Speaker A:

It's like that pretty awesome stuff.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we should catch that.

Speaker A:

It's like God's going, I'll cover you.

Speaker A:

I'll cover you.

Speaker A:

I'll multiply.

Speaker A:

I'll make it.

Speaker A:

I'll cover you.

Speaker A:

Everybody should have that level of faith, right?

Speaker F:

Hey, Dave, you're not going to believe this, but real quick, maybe you will.

Speaker F:

I heard you play the Uncle Pecos Crambone.

Speaker F:

Little deal just in, and I kid you not, a couple of days ago, I ordered me an Uncle Pecos T shirt off the Internet.

Speaker F:

I'm waiting for it to come in the mail.

Speaker A:

Brother, I love you.

Speaker A:

You are awesome.

Speaker F:

Right back.

Speaker F:

Right back at you, my brother.

Speaker F:

I just thought I'd throw that in there.

Speaker F:

I thought, man, that's a coincidence.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

That's awesome.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Excellent job, bro.

Speaker A:

Excellent, excellent job.

Speaker F:

Have a blessed day, my friend.

Speaker F:

I love you, Dave.

Speaker A:

Appreciate you.

Speaker A:

All right, take care.

Speaker A:

Bye.

Speaker A:

Bye.

Speaker A:

Great job by Curtis.

Speaker A:

All right, so we got a couple of things we got to do.

Speaker A:

I got to finish this teacher, and I only have so many minutes left.

Speaker A:

I don't know what's going on with the show.

Speaker A:

It's been so much fun lately, but here's the thing.

Speaker A:

I want to do this part of the Teaching.

Speaker A:

And I don't want anybody to get offended.

Speaker A:

Nobody, nobody is being singled out.

Speaker A:

You wouldn't believe how many times you have to say something like that for people to understand.

Speaker A:

I'm serious about this.

Speaker A:

In other words, nobody's being picked on or singled out.

Speaker A:

I don't want anybody to get that.

Speaker A:

That's wrong, wrong, wrong.

Speaker A:

I read this a long, long time ago.

Speaker A:

I teach this the same way.

Speaker A:

I've been teaching it for years and years and years.

Speaker A:

I want to understand something about the Abraham situation and how Abraham gave and how his giving is in prior to Exodus, prior to Leviticus.

Speaker A:

Yes, there's reference in Malachi.

Speaker A:

Yes, there's other references.

Speaker A:

Yes, there's discussions about giving in the New Testament.

Speaker A:

There's some people that have charted out it could be as little as 5%, could be as much as 30%, goes back and forth.

Speaker A:

And everybody's got an opinion.

Speaker A:

I'm a really strong, strong, strong believer in Abraham did this because he was closely connected to God and he loved God.

Speaker A:

And his giving was whatever the amount is, he decided, that's awesome.

Speaker A:

He gives it to God.

Speaker A:

There's no law, there's no requirement.

Speaker A:

He does not give everything of what he owns.

Speaker A:

He gives him what his bounty was of what he got.

Speaker A:

Because, remember, he didn't have any ownership of any of that, but he recovered it for other people.

Speaker A:

And then for a brief moment, he was in charge of it all.

Speaker A:

And so I think that part's great.

Speaker A:

He gives it in faith.

Speaker A:

He doesn't give in a chintzy manner.

Speaker A:

And that's really important because giving God poor sacrifices is a poor Christian decision, period.

Speaker A:

You don't give God sheep that are blind or rams that are broken or wounded.

Speaker A:

You don't do that because God doesn't like that.

Speaker A:

It's insulting.

Speaker A:

So you don't ever do that.

Speaker A:

You always give God the absolute best of the best of what you can give, Period.

Speaker A:

Having said that.

Speaker A:

Having said that.

Speaker A:

Okay, I want to make sure a couple things are really, really, really, really important.

Speaker A:

Tithes in the storehouse of God are absolutely understandable through Malachi as well as other New Testament passages.

Speaker A:

But creating a legalism from the church or for yourself is not the spirit that God wants us to be giving.

Speaker A:

I don't have any problem saying that if we are not able to give money with a right spirit, a cheerful spirit, there is no point in giving money grudgingly because it will bear no fruit.

Speaker A:

There's, oh, no, God has to give it back.

Speaker A:

Not if you give it in a Wrong spirit.

Speaker A:

You're wrong.

Speaker A:

If you do it unto the Lord and you do it in such a way as to let God know you're really not appreciative that you're having to give.

Speaker A:

You just cut out anything he might give you.

Speaker A:

Well, no, Dave, it's the law of reciprocation.

Speaker A:

No, it's not.

Speaker A:

Read Malachi.

Speaker A:

They gave and God was like, I do not accept it because it's less and it's done with the wrong spirit.

Speaker A:

It's like there's no reciprocation zero.

Speaker A:

So I'm trying to make sure everybody kind of follows.

Speaker A:

Don't do this in such a way as to insult God.

Speaker A:

Now the widow woman's a great example, right?

Speaker A:

Nobody can disagree.

Speaker A:

Some of you know the story about the widow woman.

Speaker A:

She put in the two coins Jesus said she gave in more than all the rest.

Speaker A:

You go back to that fun story about Peter and the pastors and they're all driving around looking at the pastors houses and oh, that's nice, that's nice.

Speaker A:

And there's this huge mansion up on the hill and they're like, gosh, whose house is that?

Speaker A:

And he goes, the widow woman, because she gave all that she had.

Speaker A:

And so that's a great story.

Speaker A:

It's not biblical, but it's a great story.

Speaker A:

Bottom line to that is we need to have that right spirit.

Speaker A:

But there's another principle in play and I'm going to say it and just listen to what I say.

Speaker A:

The principle has to do with churches and ministries where people give large sums of money.

Speaker A:

And all of a sudden, after they've given a large sum of money, they think that they're entitled to direct where it goes because they gave it.

Speaker A:

After all, it's a big offering.

Speaker A:

That spirit is being challenged here in this text with Abraham.

Speaker A:

That's a not okay scenario.

Speaker A:

It is not okay for you and I.

Speaker A:

I've done this once in sin in my own life, gave a lot of money to somewhere and thought I was entitled to give the direction behind it.

Speaker A:

And it was the Lord that rebuked me severely for a while.

Speaker A:

If you give unto the Lord, you give unto the Lord.

Speaker A:

You don't sit there and say, I'm going to give.

Speaker A:

Well, these are the conditions because this ministry needs my help here or this baloney you give, you give it unto God.

Speaker A:

If you can't give it unto God and let it go, then keep it.

Speaker A:

Giving does not entitle you or me to direct the funds.

Speaker A:

What is it that they all did with the apostles just think about what they did in Acts, chapter 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

Speaker A:

They came and they laid it at the apostles feet.

Speaker A:

That means that they put it there and it was their, the apostles discretion to do what they felt best.

Speaker A:

And everybody that kind of goes that other side and says no.

Speaker A:

Giving these offerings gives me control.

Speaker A:

That's a wrong spirit.

Speaker A:

And the reason I bring it up is because it happens a lot.

Speaker A:

If you give, you give unto the Lord with a pure heart, a right spirit.

Speaker A:

You give it unto the Lord.

Speaker A:

And if you give it unto the Lord and lay it before the Lord, it's between you and God.

Speaker A:

If you give it somewhere and you think you have control over it, it's not between you and God because you never give to God and expect to control ever.

Speaker A:

So the reason that I'm making this an issue is because perhaps some of you will be superbly blessed in the next week or month or couple of months.

Speaker A:

Before the end of this year.

Speaker A:

Maybe 20, 25 is going to be that really big year and the Lord's going to really bless you.

Speaker A:

Guess what?

Speaker A:

When you give it, you give it unto the Lord and that's it.

Speaker A:

You don't sit there and say, well, I should direct where it goes.

Speaker A:

That is not giving unto the Lord.

Speaker A:

That is giving with the idea of control.

Speaker A:

Don't do that.

Speaker A:

You give it to God because you love God.

Speaker A:

You give it because you want to honor your king.

Speaker A:

I've heard every possible teaching in giving.

Speaker A:

It's almost sad for me to say.

Speaker A:

I actually am sad that I'm thinking about it.

Speaker A:

I've heard so many all across the spectrum.

Speaker A:

Here's the deal.

Speaker A:

Be like Abraham.

Speaker A:

Give because you love the Lord.

Speaker A:

Give not because it's a requirement.

Speaker A:

Give because you appreciate.

Speaker A:

That's what you got to do.

Speaker A:

That's the right spirit.

Speaker A:

That's not grudgingly, that's not reluctantly.

Speaker A:

That's the right attitude.

Speaker A:

That's what we want to do.

Speaker A:

Okay, all right.

Speaker A:

I don't think that's complex.

Speaker A:

I think it's pretty good.

Speaker A:

That's just my take on it.

Speaker A:

You can love it or you can not like it.

Speaker A:

If you give to this ministry or any ministry, you give it unto God.

Speaker A:

Period.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

So went a couple different directions today, but that's part of the fun, isn't it?

Speaker A:

I'm not texting anybody till after 5 today.

Speaker A:

I have something previous that I have to get to, but I want to let you know how much I love and appreciate you guys.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
