02-06-2025 part 2: Navigating Spiritual Criticism: Lessons from Colossians.

In this discourse, we delve into the essential teachings of the Apostle Paul as articulated in the second chapter of Colossians, particularly focusing on the admonition to resist the judgment of others regarding dietary practices and observance of religious feasts. The salient point articulated is that one's worthiness before God is not contingent upon external judgments but is rooted in one's relationship with Christ, the true head of the Church. We explore the implications of Paul's exhortation to disregard superficial judgments, emphasizing the importance of personal faith and direct connection to Jesus as the source of spiritual growth. The episode further illuminates the dangers of false humility and the worship of angels, cautioning against individuals who seek to disqualify others based on their own misguided spirituality. Ultimately, we reinforce the paramount significance of Christ as the foundation of faith, urging listeners to remain steadfast in their belief and to prioritize their relationship with Him above all else.

In this episode, we undertake an extensive examination of the theological principles articulated in the Book of Colossians, with a particular emphasis on the apostle Paul's exhortations regarding judgment and spiritual integrity. The discourse begins with Paul's directive to the Colossians, urging them to disregard external judgments concerning their dietary choices and observances of sacred days. This imperative serves to liberate believers from the bondage of legalism, emphasizing that true spirituality is not determined by adherence to rituals but by one’s relationship with Christ. The apostle's assertion that 'these are a shadow of things to come' encapsulates the essence of his message — the reality of faith is found in the person of Jesus, not in the observance of the law.

As we delve deeper into the text, we encounter Paul's caution against succumbing to false humility and the allure of angelic worship, which he identifies as distractions that sever one's connection to Christ, the head of the church. This segment of the discussion is particularly salient, as it delineates the characteristics of individuals who may appear spiritually enlightened yet are devoid of genuine connection to the source of truth and life. The emphasis on discernment in spiritual matters is paramount, as believers are encouraged to evaluate the validity of teachings and experiences through the lens of Scripture.

The episode culminates in a powerful reminder of the importance of maintaining an authentic relationship with God. The call to 'draw closer to the Lord daily' resonates throughout the conversation, reinforcing the notion that spiritual growth is a dynamic process rooted in intimate communion with God. By prioritizing this relationship, believers are empowered to navigate the complexities of faith with confidence, anchored in the assurance that it is Christ who sustains and grows His church.

Takeaways:

  • The apostle Paul instructs the church not to allow external judgments regarding personal practices of faith, emphasizing that only God's opinion holds significance.
  • In studying Colossians, we glean that legalistic judgments regarding food, drink, and religious observances detract from the fundamental relationship with Christ.
  • Dr. David Spoon's personal journey illustrates the transformative power of faith, leading him from a troubled past to a life dedicated to ministry and sharing the Gospel.
  • The podcast underscores the importance of maintaining personal conviction in one's walk with God, free from the influence of societal judgment or peer pressure.
  • A critical examination of spiritual authority reveals that true connection to Christ is essential for genuine spiritual growth and discernment.
  • Engagement with the Lord through scripture and prayer is presented as vital for spiritual vitality, urging believers to draw closer to Him daily.

Speaker A:

And now for something completely different.

Speaker A:

Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.

Speaker A:

It's Expository Thursday.

Speaker A:

Expository Thursday as we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the Book of Colossians, we travel to understand what things the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truths in our lives.

Speaker A:

First, jumping back in Colossians 2, starting with verse 16, the apostle tells the church, therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink.

Speaker A:

So let's clarify this.

Speaker A:

It's very simple.

Speaker A:

The way to let nobody judge you is to not receive their judgment.

Speaker A:

You don't have to be mean and you don't have to be a jerk.

Speaker A:

You just have to ignore their judgment and recognize that their judgment is not God's judgment and it's only God's opinion that matters.

Speaker A:

Next, the apostle goes on to say, don't let them judge you regarding not just eating and drinking, but also in regard to a feast, a new moon, or a Sabbath.

Speaker A:

For these are a shadow of things to come.

Speaker A:

Whether somebody does or doesn't celebrate a feast at different times or sabbaths is not as important as spending time with Jesus.

Speaker A:

To say otherwise is foolish and immature.

Speaker A:

And the Lord's already saying, hey, step down off that soapbox if you do or if you don't celebrate.

Speaker A:

Finally, the instruction of the letter takes an interesting turn, telling us not to let anyone who delights in false humility in the worship of angels disqualify you.

Speaker A:

Then the apostle gives specific details about how to discern such individuals.

Speaker A:

He says, any such person has lost connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and knitted together by joints and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow.

Speaker A:

The key is this.

Speaker A:

Any person in this position who has lost sight that it's all about connecting to Jesus is not worth paying attention to.

Speaker B:

David Spoon's life has been an experience.

Speaker A:

It's just not.

Speaker A:

And if you haven't figured that out, I can't help you.

Speaker A:

It's way past me to communicate it.

Speaker A:

Here's what we're doing.

Speaker A:

We're asking you, what do you think?

Speaker A:

How you doing?

Speaker A:

How can we bless you?

Speaker A:

Talking to Jim and Jacob is the same feeling you get when you're being appreciated.

Speaker A:

Aw, that's so sweet.

Speaker C:

Thank you, David.

Speaker C:

Happy Thursday.

Speaker A:

Happy Thursday to you, my friend.

Speaker A:

Not a lot for you to do in that first 30 minutes, was there?

Speaker A:

It was just kind of like, okay, bye.

Speaker C:

No, that's okay.

Speaker C:

I was just sitting back and listening.

Speaker A:

I just love.

Speaker A:

See, we have no idea.

Speaker A:

It's like, who knows?

Speaker A:

I didn't know Eric was going to call.

Speaker A:

We just went from that.

Speaker C:

You just never know.

Speaker C:

Some days I'm like picking up the phone every five minutes and the other day I'm just sitting back and listening to the show.

Speaker A:

It's so bizarre, right?

Speaker A:

I like that, though.

Speaker A:

It's just kind of got that weird thing to it.

Speaker A:

That's kind of it all.

Speaker A:

Here's the bottom line.

Speaker A:

Why would you bother to reach out to us?

Speaker A:

Well, one, you're crazy.

Speaker A:

It's okay.

Speaker A:

Well, a little bit.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the show anyway.

Speaker A:

You might have a praise report and we would love to hear it.

Speaker A:

Eric shared a great praise report.

Speaker A:

Just phenomenal.

Speaker A:

And I love hearing praise reports because, you know, the Lord is much more active than we say and we don't pinpoint those things out.

Speaker A:

I think we only tend to do it when it's like the sea is splitting wide open and you walk through it.

Speaker A:

The Lord is gracious throughout the day.

Speaker A:

The Lord is gracious throughout our Christian walk.

Speaker A:

He answers hundreds of prayers that we don't even acknowledge.

Speaker A:

It's amazing how good God is to us.

Speaker A:

And we should Share that.

Speaker A:

It just a good idea to honor the Lord with those things.

Speaker A:

Other people are always blessed and it's just inevitable somebody will share something.

Speaker A:

It's like, oh, it's just a little thing, but this happened.

Speaker A:

And then somebody will text in or call in and say, oh, I needed to hear that.

Speaker A:

That's what's so amazing about it.

Speaker A:

That's the connection of the Lord.

Speaker A:

Number two, it could be a prayer request.

Speaker A:

You just want to petition the Lord.

Speaker A:

You got something going on.

Speaker A:

It doesn't matter whether you're in the beginning, middle, or end.

Speaker A:

All points of what you're going through, you need prayer.

Speaker A:

Maybe you need prayer just to stay in the faith for it.

Speaker A:

Maybe you need prayer because you're losing faith in it.

Speaker A:

That's cool.

Speaker A:

Whatever those things are, let's join together and petition the Lord because he's generous and we can count on him.

Speaker A:

Maybe you've got something you just want to share.

Speaker A:

I was driving down the road and I saw this.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

It made me smile, like, great.

Speaker A:

I was driving down.

Speaker A:

This happened or this, or I felt like the Lord whispered this.

Speaker A:

Great.

Speaker A:

Share it.

Speaker A:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

Do your best.

Speaker A:

We also do Bible trivia because we think Bible trivia is fun.

Speaker A:

I think it's fun.

Speaker A:

Here you go.

Speaker A:

Let's see if we can get this one.

Speaker A:

Super easy.

Speaker A:

Super easy.

Speaker A:

What type of event was Jesus at?

Speaker A:

What kind of event was Jesus at?

Speaker A:

When he turned the water into wine, Was he at a revival?

Speaker A:

Was he at a stoning?

Speaker A:

Was he at a wedding?

Speaker A:

Or were they digging a well?

Speaker A:

That's the question.

Speaker A:

John 2:1 is where you want to go to if you need a reference point.

Speaker A:

What type of event was Jesus attending?

Speaker A:

When he changed the water into wine, Was he at a revival?

Speaker A:

Were they at a stoning?

Speaker A:

Was it a wedding or digging of a well?

Speaker A:

If you think you know, you can reach out to us, that's pretty easy.

Speaker A:

You can call:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

You can send an email davidemustincrease.org Two things I need to tell you about right off the bat.

Speaker A:

Want to just make sure you guys have both these things on your well, let's at least do one of them.

Speaker A:

We have a board meeting tonight.

Speaker A:

No, not a bullring meeting tonight.

Speaker A:

We have a board meeting tonight.

Speaker A:

Taking care of some of the legalities of the ministry and also talking about the direction and the evaluations and where we're at.

Speaker A:

So I would be one to be very appreciative if people would be praying for the Lord's wisdom to be poured out on us during our board meeting.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

The meetings are never boring, but they are important.

Speaker A:

And we're about three and a half weeks behind from the last one we were supposed to do.

Speaker A:

It's been a pretty interesting month.

Speaker A:

But anyway, we've got our meeting.

Speaker A:

So please, in that process, sometime throughout the day, pray for the ministry and for the direction for the board.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Thank you very much for that.

Speaker A:

Your trivia question.

Speaker A:

What type of event was Jesus attending when he was in that process of changing the water into wine?

Speaker A:

Was it a revival?

Speaker A:

That would explain that.

Speaker A:

Was it a stoning, a wedding or digging of a well?

Speaker A:

We have somebody on the line.

Speaker A:

Let's go ahead and send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker D:

Hello, David.

Speaker D:

This is Stephen.

Speaker A:

Hello, Stephen.

Speaker A:

How are you, my brother?

Speaker D:

I'm okay.

Speaker D:

Still laughing about sweet Lorraine, but do you realize that you were teaching a little bit on Revelations, that it's all about a wedding?

Speaker A:

Yeah, right.

Speaker A:

Good.

Speaker A:

That's a good one, brother.

Speaker A:

Oh, what a great observation.

Speaker A:

What a great observation.

Speaker A:

That was brilliant.

Speaker A:

Okay, I know you don't like me calling you brilliant.

Speaker A:

Stephen is brilliant.

Speaker A:

Stephen is brilliant.

Speaker A:

Anyway, that's an excellent, excellent observation.

Speaker A:

It's all about a wedding, isn't it?

Speaker D:

See, a lot of us will look at a marriage and see problems.

Speaker D:

Problems are part of it.

Speaker D:

It's working through them that gives the life to the marriage.

Speaker D:

The wedding in Revelation is full of problems, but is working through it to get the good out of it.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker A:

Oh, good, good, good, good.

Speaker A:

Good observation.

Speaker A:

So then I'll just give you the.

Speaker A:

Therefore, the type of event Jesus was attending was a.

Speaker D:

A wedding.

Speaker A:

That is correct.

Speaker A:

Amanda, sir.

Speaker A:

Boy, that was just tailor made for you.

Speaker A:

I mean, that was just.

Speaker A:

You had the tailor come in and pull out the piece of tape and go, o.

Speaker A:

This, this.

Speaker A:

Here's the waist, here's the shoulders.

Speaker A:

Really good job.

Speaker D:

You have a blessed day.

Speaker A:

You, too, my brother.

Speaker A:

God bless you.

Speaker A:

He's so wonderful.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Great job by our brother.

Speaker A:

Love him.

Speaker A:

Love, love, love, love, love him.

Speaker A:

All right, don't forget to pray for the board meeting.

Speaker A:

We are going to do our DNA, and then I'm going to try and get into some of the early teach.

Speaker A:

We got to get into some of this.

Speaker A:

Let's do the DNA right Now, we're not going to take as long time.

Speaker A:

Well, take as long as it's necessary.

Speaker A:

D D stands for draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

Every day.

Speaker A:

Every day.

Speaker A:

Every day.

Speaker A:

Every day.

Speaker A:

Every day.

Speaker A:

Every day.

Speaker A:

Every day.

Speaker A:

I mean, every day.

Speaker A:

And again, I think the biggest problem that I have in talking to you guys about this is I don't want to drop legalism on people.

Speaker A:

I'm not interested in that.

Speaker A:

I'm interested in you guys hanging out with the Lord through prayer.

Speaker A:

Hanging out with the Lord in the Bible.

Speaker A:

I'm interested in that part of it so that you are getting as much from the Lord as you can.

Speaker A:

Okay, that's kind of what you know, again, it's not the amount of time, it's not the time.

Speaker A:

Like with the time of day.

Speaker A:

I do it earlier because I just want to be ready as we'll get into.

Speaker A:

But for me, I just need to do that.

Speaker A:

That's what helps me.

Speaker A:

And at this point, I've kind of trained along those lines.

Speaker A:

But whatever works, whatever, however you got to do it, just get it there with the Lord.

Speaker A:

And you know what?

Speaker A:

You'll know.

Speaker A:

Because if you're quiet when you're praying as well, you'll hear Him.

Speaker A:

When you're quiet while you're reading as well, you'll hear him.

Speaker A:

And he loves to hear from you.

Speaker A:

Oh, he doesn't need to.

Speaker A:

He knows everything.

Speaker A:

He loves to see that difference.

Speaker A:

He enjoys it.

Speaker A:

Do you see that difference?

Speaker A:

Whenever anybody says to you, well, don't ask God about it.

Speaker A:

He's busy.

Speaker A:

They don't know God from a green bean casserole.

Speaker A:

They just are clueless.

Speaker A:

Just forget that God loves to hear from you.

Speaker A:

That's the truth.

Speaker A:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

N Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

Never be ashamed of what Jesus had to say.

Speaker A:

He has a reason for everything.

Speaker A:

He says he has a reason for everything.

Speaker A:

He said he has a reason for everything.

Speaker A:

He will say he has a reason for every trial you go through and why it has to be funneled out in certain time frames.

Speaker A:

He has a very specific route for you that he's working with you in so that you can walk with him in.

Speaker A:

And you never have to be ashamed of all that he's doing because everything he does is perfect.

Speaker A:

That's cool.

Speaker A:

I mean, you can't beat that.

Speaker A:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

A Always be ready.

Speaker C:

To serve.

Speaker A:

Just I'm right.

Speaker A:

I am prepared, Lord.

Speaker A:

I am prepared for whatever you want.

Speaker A:

Now, does that mean that you always.

Speaker A:

I want to say this real carefully.

Speaker A:

I don't always feel prepared.

Speaker A:

Does that make sense?

Speaker A:

In other words, even if I spend time with the Lord, sometimes, you know, my own flesh or my own mind or my own feelings, whatever they get kind of tangled in.

Speaker A:

It's like sometimes I'm like, I don't know if I'm feeling all prepared, Lord.

Speaker A:

But see, that's what faith is about.

Speaker A:

If you spend time with God, instead of feeling like you're prepared, instead you have faith.

Speaker A:

God knows you've sought him and he's going to use you.

Speaker A:

You don't have to feel.

Speaker A:

I am 100% ready to do all the things.

Speaker A:

I'll say this.

Speaker A:

And I want to be careful.

Speaker A:

I don't want anybody to get upset about it.

Speaker A:

But I think when people go into ministry, they think, well, I want to have everything done, everything coordinated.

Speaker A:

I want all my stuff to be lined up exactly perfect.

Speaker A:

And that's rarely how the Lord does it.

Speaker A:

Oftentimes we get ourselves into ministerial situations by falling, tripping, or banging into a tree, and then we find ourselves there.

Speaker A:

That's how the Lord does it.

Speaker A:

So let's just be ready and spend that time with him and have faith.

Speaker A:

We're ready to go for whatever he wants.

Speaker A:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

A Always be ready to serve.

Speaker A:

We are in Colossians.

Speaker A:

Oh, my.

Speaker A:

Chapter two.

Speaker A:

Oh, my.

Speaker A:

Starting with verse 16, I want to liberate some of you.

Speaker A:

I know that sounds weird.

Speaker A:

Let me say it with a better way or a better way of communicating it.

Speaker A:

I want to take off a yoke of bondage in your life.

Speaker A:

Ready?

Speaker A:

Colossians, chapter 2, verse 16.

Speaker A:

Therefore let no one judge you.

Speaker A:

Stop.

Speaker A:

What do you mean, let no one judge you?

Speaker A:

Very, very straightforward.

Speaker A:

You don't let them.

Speaker A:

Now, wait, Dave, what do you mean you don't let them?

Speaker A:

How does that work?

Speaker A:

I'm going to say it and we'll tell you exactly what to do.

Speaker A:

People will always try and put stuff on you.

Speaker A:

Good people, unintentionally, bad people, intentionally.

Speaker A:

Satan, because he's your enemy.

Speaker A:

All of that applies.

Speaker A:

All of that works.

Speaker A:

It's all reality check, right?

Speaker A:

This is what you do.

Speaker A:

You follow the word of God, therefore don't let anyone judge you.

Speaker A:

I'm not going to let that happen.

Speaker A:

How do you not let it happen?

Speaker A:

Ready?

Speaker A:

You ignore it.

Speaker A:

You give it.

Speaker A:

Wait, wait, here's the thing.

Speaker A:

You give it no value.

Speaker A:

Well, but a person said, congratulations.

Speaker A:

Are they Sinless?

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Therefore it doesn't qualify.

Speaker A:

Doesn't count.

Speaker A:

Well, you don't understand who this person is.

Speaker A:

Don't care.

Speaker A:

Smartest person in the world, don't care.

Speaker A:

Richest person in the world.

Speaker A:

Don't care.

Speaker A:

Claims to be the most spiritual person in the world.

Speaker A:

Really can tell you right now if they claim that they're not.

Speaker A:

You already know that.

Speaker A:

Well, this group says this.

Speaker A:

Who cares?

Speaker A:

This group says that.

Speaker A:

Who cares?

Speaker A:

That's like cold hearted.

Speaker A:

Do you think Jesus was like, did you like my message?

Speaker A:

Did you like what I had to say?

Speaker A:

Did you approve of it?

Speaker A:

Can I get a five stars on it?

Speaker A:

You don't let it.

Speaker A:

You give no value to it if the Lord is not behind it.

Speaker A:

And I got a message for you, if the Lord's behind it, there's not the conviction of the flesh.

Speaker A:

There's the conviction of the Holy Spirit who lives inside of you.

Speaker A:

Entirely different.

Speaker A:

And if the Lord convicts you and you know it, it's like, yes, Lord.

Speaker A:

Yes, Lord.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

But there's a place in this process or this walk where you have to sit there and say you have to evaluate.

Speaker A:

See, you're the judge, so to speak.

Speaker A:

You have to evaluate whether that's worthy to come through your shield or not.

Speaker A:

Most of the time you can get that answer by what the person is communicating for the purpose they're communicating in.

Speaker A:

In fact, I have found for my own life that sometimes when somebody says something and they're not trying to do that, that that's often more the Lord.

Speaker A:

It's when people are trying to shut you down or make you feel bad about yourself or all that other stuff.

Speaker A:

That's when you know something is wrong.

Speaker A:

It's almost.

Speaker A:

The more accidental ones seem more likely.

Speaker A:

All I'm saying is this.

Speaker A:

Give it no value.

Speaker A:

Well, how do you do that?

Speaker A:

You don't give it a value.

Speaker A:

You don't give it a five star rating.

Speaker A:

You don't rate it.

Speaker A:

You don't take it, you don't receive it.

Speaker A:

You know how you receive Jesus?

Speaker A:

Yeah, exact opposite.

Speaker A:

You just say no when it comes to somebody judging you.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Don't let anyone judge you.

Speaker A:

No, don't let that happen.

Speaker A:

Not that way.

Speaker A:

If it's from the Lord, you'll have a sensitivity to it, but you'll know when somebody's coming against you.

Speaker A:

You know what?

Speaker A:

Don't take it on.

Speaker A:

Become a duck.

Speaker A:

Let the water roll off your back.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

Okay, cool.

Speaker A:

All right, we'll take a short break, then we'll come back.

Speaker A:

You're listening.

Speaker A:

To the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station air in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break, we'll be back.

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker E:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

Speaker E:

You say, I'll put it to you like this.

Speaker E:

Do you love a good joke?

Speaker E:

That's pretty bad.

Speaker A:

What do you call an animal that doesn't practice what it preaches?

Speaker F:

A hippocrypotamus.

Speaker A:

Come on.

Speaker E:

Do you love being able to ask questions, comments, or having someone to pray for you?

Speaker A:

Do you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question?

Speaker A:

We don't want it to die of loneliness.

Speaker F:

We want it to have a chance.

Speaker E:

And last but not least, do you love some trivia?

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

We got our trivia question.

Speaker A:

Who made clothes out of leaves that were sewed together?

Speaker A:

Somebody want to answer the trivia question?

Speaker A:

Okay, hold on, hold on.

Speaker A:

Here I go.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker A:

We're talking to Mary.

Speaker A:

This is Al.

Speaker A:

This is Brother Ace.

Speaker G:

This is Eric.

Speaker A:

This is Deborah.

Speaker E:

Now, if that doesn't make you curious, maybe you should tune in and check it out for yourself.

Speaker A:

Think of me as the big brother that won't go away.

Speaker A:

That's me.

Speaker E:

Tune in to the David Spoon experience weekdays at 1:30pm on 770 Kaam, the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

So in this position, I have the opportunity to interview people and have so for the last five years.

Speaker A:

From all across the range of Christianity, from authors and from actors and musicians, we are about to have an opportunity we've never had on this show.

Speaker A:

We actually have Lee Strobel on the phone with us.

Speaker A:

It was 19 years ago, I believe this September 1st, where his book came out, the Case for Christ.

Speaker A:

If you're Jewish like I am, and then became a Christian, that was when you went, oy vey.

Speaker A:

This book was a life changer for many.

Speaker A:

And now it's a movie.

Speaker A:

Lee, are you there on the phone with us?

Speaker A:

I am.

Speaker H:

David, how you doing, my friend?

Speaker A:

I am doing fantastic.

Speaker A:

Thrilled to have you on the show.

Speaker A:

It's my privilege.

Speaker A:

I just got to start.

Speaker A:

I know they give you a list of questions just so you can know.

Speaker A:

Lee, I never use them.

Speaker C:

Good for you.

Speaker A:

It's like, come on, I want to tell you, we're brothers here in the Lord.

Speaker A:

Talk to me.

Speaker A:

First of all, you wrote this book, the Case for Christ.

Speaker A:

Let's first talk about the writing of the book and then we'll talk about that connection to the movie.

Speaker A:

Why did you write this book?

Speaker H:

Well, I didn't start out to do that.

Speaker H:

I mean, I was an atheist.

Speaker H:

My wife became a Christian.

Speaker H:

So in order to try to rescue her from this Christian cult, I decided to use my journalism training and legal training and disprove Christianity to show that the resurrection never really happened.

Speaker H:

Of course, I ended up coming to the opposite conclusion and ended up coming to faith.

Speaker H:

But I did this investigation for my own edification, for my own education, not because I wanted to write a book.

Speaker H:

And then it was actually later my wife said to me, hey, you ought to write a book about that.

Speaker H:

I said, really?

Speaker H:

She said, sure.

Speaker H:

So that's how the book came about sometimes.

Speaker A:

Hallelujah.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 7, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

That's K double Amen 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Get ready for your next trivia question.

Speaker A:

How does Paul instruct children to act toward their parents?

Speaker A:

In Ephesians 6.

Speaker A:

1, Paul tells people how children are supposed to act towards their parents.

Speaker A:

Is it to obey, to follow, to listen, or to patronize?

Speaker A:

To obey, to follow, to listen, or to patronize?

Speaker A:

According to Ephesians 6.

Speaker A:

1, how does Paul instruct children to act towards their parents?

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or you can send an email davidemustincrease.org okay.

Speaker A:

There you go.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

I do want to do a prayer for our good friend Roger again and his wife.

Speaker A:

I did tell you they went through something.

Speaker A:

Not ready yet.

Speaker A:

Don't feel comfortable yet talking about it.

Speaker A:

But I want us to pray a prayer of comfort for Roger again and his wife.

Speaker A:

So I think everybody can get on board with that.

Speaker A:

You know, the Bible says we laugh with one another and we cry with one another.

Speaker A:

So let's do that process right now.

Speaker A:

Let's pray.

Speaker A:

Father, we come before youe right now and we lift up our brother Roger and his wife and we ask youk, Lord God, because youe are the God of comfort, that yout would bring youg comfort into their hearts.

Speaker A:

There's nobody that can bring peace into their hearts like youe can.

Speaker A:

There's nothing they can do to get that peace that runs from the top of the head to the bottom of their feet and just fills their system and pulsates through them.

Speaker A:

So in your grace and in your goodness, pour that peace.

Speaker A:

Pour that comfort, pour that kindness into their minds and into their hearts.

Speaker A:

They've been through so much, Lord, and there's so much that you're going to bless them in.

Speaker A:

I pray they would stand fast in their faith, ready to receive from your gracious hand.

Speaker A:

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Speaker A:

Amen and amen.

Speaker A:

Okay, now we have our trivia question.

Speaker A:

How does Paul instruct children to act towards their parents?

Speaker A:

Is it to obey them, follow them, listen to them or patronize them?

Speaker A:

If you think you know the answer, you can reach out to us.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Okay, here's what it says in 16.

Speaker A:

Therefore, let no one judge you.

Speaker A:

We already talked about that.

Speaker A:

By what you eat or drink, or with regard to a feast, new moon or a Sabbath.

Speaker A:

Wow, let's get on board here.

Speaker A:

Lots of legalism to fight against, isn't there?

Speaker A:

Sure is.

Speaker A:

Here's the deal.

Speaker A:

I'm going to just say it straight out.

Speaker A:

Some people love to do the Sabbath, some people don't.

Speaker A:

Some people love to do Christmas, some people don't.

Speaker A:

Some people love to do Easter, some people.

Speaker A:

Well, most people do, let's say, if they're Christians.

Speaker A:

But let's just say some people like this celebration, don't like this celebration.

Speaker A:

Some people like Oktoberfest, Autumn festival.

Speaker A:

No, not good enough.

Speaker A:

And there's all these different positions in the church, right?

Speaker A:

Not one of those are permissible in regards to fellowship.

Speaker A:

If you don't fellowship with somebody because they don't celebrate Christmas, you're wrong.

Speaker A:

If you don't fellowship with somebody because they do celebrate Christmas, you're wrong.

Speaker A:

Period.

Speaker A:

Everybody has to make that conscious decision between them and God.

Speaker A:

And what Paul's like saying is, first of all, you don't let anybody judge you.

Speaker A:

And the reason I hammered on that is because how often we let the world, the media, academia, government or Hollywood judge us, which is ridiculous, since none of them have even the slightest clue as to some of the things that are really going on.

Speaker A:

Many do, but most don't.

Speaker A:

And so along with that is this understanding that this area of judgment, allowing people to impact or affect.

Speaker A:

He specifically identifies the things that are celebrated.

Speaker A:

When you eat, when you drink, some People say, that's diet.

Speaker A:

Seems to me like the eating and drinking is a little different.

Speaker A:

Seems to me like it's a little bit more celebratory.

Speaker A:

And we get that because he says, or with regard to a feast or a new moon or a Sabbath.

Speaker A:

So Sabbath's included in there, and you can't take it away.

Speaker A:

If somebody wants to celebrate the Sabbath, awesome.

Speaker A:

If they don't, awesome, Stop.

Speaker A:

Just as it's true that you should not receive judgment, you and I should be equally careful not to give judgment.

Speaker A:

Now, we're not talking about logical judgment where people are talking like, well, trans or regular people.

Speaker A:

It's like, that's ridiculous.

Speaker A:

Homosexuality is a sin, let alone trans.

Speaker A:

I mean, it's just unbelievable.

Speaker A:

Lesbian is a sin.

Speaker A:

It's a sin.

Speaker A:

You don't like it, tough.

Speaker A:

Tell God he's the Creator.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

That's different than, I like the Sabbath.

Speaker A:

It's okay.

Speaker A:

Those are two different worlds.

Speaker A:

So let's just separate those right off the bat.

Speaker A:

Don't be judging in the capacity of your brother or sister enjoying something or not enjoying something, who cares?

Speaker A:

And by that I mean.

Speaker A:

Wait, wait.

Speaker A:

I want to make sure I say this right.

Speaker A:

Who cares?

Speaker A:

If they're loving it, great.

Speaker A:

If they're not loving it, great.

Speaker A:

Shouldn't bother you in the slightest.

Speaker A:

You do what it is between you and the Lord.

Speaker A:

This is where Romans 14 comes into play in Romans 14 and 15.

Speaker A:

But Romans 14 about a man has to do right in his consciousness before God.

Speaker A:

This is where I do have the biggest argument with a lot of Christians.

Speaker A:

People don't like it because I'm just using the book.

Speaker A:

But it's like, if somebody is like, I don't want to have anything to do with the political structure.

Speaker A:

I don't want to be a part of it.

Speaker A:

I'm going to be connected to it.

Speaker A:

That's their consciousness towards God.

Speaker A:

You don't have a right to impugn on that.

Speaker A:

You can't do that.

Speaker A:

Some people are not built that way.

Speaker A:

Let go.

Speaker A:

You're not everybody who's built like you.

Speaker A:

That's how it goes.

Speaker A:

You should be appreciative of the diversity that's in the body.

Speaker A:

There's only one way in.

Speaker A:

But once you get in through Jesus, it's much broader than maybe originally anticipated.

Speaker A:

No one group has got the corner on it.

Speaker A:

It's like, yeah, okay, got it.

Speaker A:

So don't receive judgment.

Speaker A:

But in regards to Christians doing things that are along the lines of whether they celebrate, don't celebrate, do this, don't do this whether they celebrate once a week or twice a week, or five times a week or once a month.

Speaker A:

Don't receive judgment, but don't give judgment.

Speaker A:

Neither of those are okay.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

You don't cast off the body of Christ, which is.

Speaker A:

It says, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.

Speaker A:

In other words, you don't do it against the body.

Speaker A:

It's like, cool.

Speaker A:

You don't like that?

Speaker A:

Hey, praise the Lord.

Speaker A:

Some people like to dress up for church, some people don't like to dress up for church.

Speaker A:

Nobody cares.

Speaker A:

This is all God.

Speaker A:

If they're going to church, I think God cares most not.

Speaker A:

Oh, my goodness, they wore a T shirt.

Speaker A:

So that's the kind of thing you got to back off on.

Speaker A:

That's legalism.

Speaker A:

Pull it back.

Speaker A:

Be kind to one another.

Speaker A:

That's what it's talking about.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

In the trivia question, I simply ask, how does Paul instruct children to act towards their parents?

Speaker A:

Obey, follow, listen, or patronize.

Speaker A:

Patronizing should get you a whooping, but that's besides the point.

Speaker A:

Paul tells kids to obey their parents.

Speaker A:

Obey?

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's a word.

Speaker A:

It's obey.

Speaker A:

It's do what they tell you.

Speaker A:

First commandment with promise, by the way.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, take a short break, then come back.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break.

Speaker I:

You may be from a Baptist background, a Pentecostal background, a non denominational background.

Speaker I:

David Spoon has that too.

Speaker I:

You may be from the Church of Christ, Presbyterian Methodist Church of God or some other denomination, but if you're looking for a show that's Bible based, spirit led and a bit nutty, then give David a listen for a while.

Speaker I:

If you like it, great.

Speaker I:

If not, no worries.

Speaker I:

The David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

Speaker A:

Regardless of what the world says, regardless of what politics say, regardless, regardless of what different people, Jesus does one thing better than anybody else, he brings hope.

Speaker A:

It's like, wait, this could be different.

Speaker A:

And in verse 29, she touches Jesus and immediately her bleeding stops, right?

Speaker A:

The Bible says, look at it.

Speaker A:

Immediately her bleeding stopped.

Speaker A:

She felt it in her body.

Speaker A:

She was freed from her suffering.

Speaker A:

You know, people will say, well, I mean, how do you know if you're healed?

Speaker A:

I got a message for you.

Speaker A:

When you touch the Lord and power comes from the Lord into your life, you know, she knew.

Speaker A:

Not only did she knew, Jesus knew.

Speaker A:

And Jesus was like, okay, who touched me?

Speaker A:

Who touched me?

Speaker A:

Power went out for me, right?

Speaker A:

And then the disciples are okay, there's like a thousand people right next to you.

Speaker A:

How are we supposed to.

Speaker A:

Now why did Jesus do all that?

Speaker A:

Watch this.

Speaker A:

This is just one of those absolute mind blowers.

Speaker A:

The first thing that happens to her is her issue of blood ceases to exist because she touches Jesus.

Speaker A:

We would call that a physical healing.

Speaker A:

She was physically healed.

Speaker A:

She had an issue of blood, and that's a problem.

Speaker A:

And she couldn't do anything to help it.

Speaker A:

But when she was able to touch Jesus, bam, the physical healing happened.

Speaker A:

But then Jesus does this such, well, weird thing because he's so cool that it just fits the whole thing.

Speaker A:

He says, who touched me?

Speaker A:

And they're all like, going, okay, well, you know, take a look around, dude.

Speaker A:

There's a lot of people here.

Speaker A:

And he's like, who touched me?

Speaker A:

And then the woman said it was me, right?

Speaker A:

Jesus not only physically healed her.

Speaker A:

Watch this.

Speaker A:

He socially healed her.

Speaker A:

But because a woman who had an issue of blood was not allowed to have the same level of public contact as everybody else.

Speaker A:

So he heals her physically and then calls her up in front of everybody and goes, yeah, you're well now, huh?

Speaker A:

Just think about the moment.

Speaker A:

And instead of saying anything negative because God's not like that, he's like, oh, your faith has healed you.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

Your faith and confidence in you touching me made the difference.

Speaker A:

You're physically healed.

Speaker A:

And let everybody who's around you know you are no longer to be untouched because you touched me.

Speaker A:

Now you're socially healed.

Speaker E:

You're here when I need you the most.

Speaker E:

When I need you the most.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

That's Ka.

Speaker A:

Amen 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Here's your next trivia question.

Speaker A:

A good one indeed.

Speaker A:

Fill in the blank regarding this verse from Jeremiah.

Speaker A:

Can the blank change his skin or the leopard his spots?

Speaker A:

Can the Philistine, the Ethiopian, the Israelite, or the Macedonian fill in the blank regarding this verse from Jeremiah, can the blank change his skin or the leopard his spots?

Speaker A:

The Philistine, the Ethiopian, the Israelite, or the Macedonian?

Speaker A:

Your answer is in Jeremiah:

Speaker A:

I will say if you do know the answer.

Speaker A:

By the way, on the PALP House today, we have two for Joanna and Cordelia, one for Al.

Speaker A:

Just to let you guys know what's going on.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

You can also send an email.

Speaker A:

ll in the blank from Jeremiah:

Speaker A:

Can the change his skin or a leopard his spots?

Speaker A:

The Philistine, the Ethiopian, the Israelite, or the Macedonian?

Speaker A:

If you know, reach out.

Speaker A:

In the meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website.

Speaker A:

The website's got a lot of cool stuff.

Speaker A:

A place for prayer and a place for praise reports.

Speaker A:

It's got audios, videos.

Speaker A:

It's got access to our app, which is free, so there's no problem.

Speaker A:

, I think it's:

Speaker A:

So if you're bored, there's plenty there.

Speaker A:

Plus, it's a place to give.

Speaker A:

I'll keep it very simple.

Speaker A:

Proverbs 3, 9.

Speaker A:

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.

Speaker A:

You know, give God leftovers.

Speaker A:

You give him the best.

Speaker A:

In regards to the ministry and our needs, we need prayer for our finances.

Speaker A:

Just you can't say it any simpler.

Speaker A:

Part of that will be our discussion in the board meeting today.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Or tonight.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Check it out on the website.

Speaker A:

Hemustincrease.org Prayer request hemostincrease.org Praise report.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org Looking to give to this ministry.

Speaker A:

He must increase.

Speaker A:

Confused by what's happening right now.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org hemustincrease.org can't touch this.

Speaker A:

You can't touch this.

Speaker A:

Yay.

Speaker A:

I like that one.

Speaker A:

People are like, why do you.

Speaker A:

I just think that's like the best.

Speaker A:

I think it's awesome.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

I do want to thank.

Speaker A:

There was two people that really did outstanding stuff in regards to the giving process.

Speaker A:

And without that, we wouldn't even be on the air right now in the last month.

Speaker A:

Just want to point that out to you.

Speaker A:

And we just need a bunch of people to do it all at one time just to get through the process.

Speaker A:

That's all I'm going to say.

Speaker A:

All right, we're going to do history, and then we'll go back to the Triv, and then we'll go back to the teaching.

Speaker A:

Let's do history real quick.

Speaker C:

Let's go live.

Speaker A:

Faith in the past.

Speaker A:

All right, Today is Ronald Reagan Day for those that are into the political things.

Speaker A:

So Ronald Reagan Day.

Speaker A:

Good.

Speaker A:

Phenomenal present.

Speaker A:

Loved him.

Speaker A:

It is International Frozen Yogurt Day.

Speaker A:

And Noel, my absolute bestest, bestest, bestest, bestest and most wonderful person on the planet, loves frozen yogurt.

Speaker A:

And it's like, I'm like, you know.

Speaker C:

I like frozen yogurt.

Speaker A:

I mean, I like it.

Speaker A:

I like it.

Speaker C:

It's not my favorite, but if somebody offers me it, I'll eat it.

Speaker A:

I'll say yes.

Speaker A:

She loves it.

Speaker A:

She loves that.

Speaker A:

Whatever that froggy place is or whatever.

Speaker A:

That's a frozen yogurt.

Speaker A:

She just loves that thing.

Speaker C:

Yeah, I've been there once before.

Speaker C:

It was good.

Speaker C:

I can't remember the name of it, though.

Speaker A:

It's expensive.

Speaker A:

It's also, by the way, National Chopsticks Day.

Speaker A:

And I want to say that when I went into my little chopsticks mode, I did really good when I was using chopsticks.

Speaker A:

But if you don't keep doing it, then you lose it and you forget.

Speaker A:

And then it turns into a.

Speaker A:

Where I start sparing spare it.

Speaker A:

Like, he's like, instead of using chopsticks.

Speaker C:

Then you're just like, give me a fork.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I'm using it.

Speaker A:

Like, that's how I do that.

Speaker A:

And for other people.

Speaker A:

No, it's not chopsticks on the piano.

Speaker A:

All right, so it's National Pay a Compliment Day.

Speaker A:

Jam and Jacob, you do a great job running the board and running things for.

Speaker A:

There's your compliment.

Speaker C:

Thank you, David.

Speaker C:

And you do a great job hosting the show.

Speaker C:

And just pretty much I press the buttons and stuff, but you've run the whole thing.

Speaker A:

See, now we don't have to pay each other.

Speaker A:

Isn't that nice?

Speaker A:

I think it's great.

Speaker A:

That's Great.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

90 years ago today.

Speaker A:

Ready?

Speaker A:

You will not know this one.

Speaker A:

This is a good one.

Speaker A:

Ninety years ago today, Monopoly was first released by Charles D.

Speaker A:

Darrow.

Speaker A:

Sold it to Parker Park, Parker Brother.

Speaker A:

He basically, that game, just so you can know, is in 23 languages, including Braille, and has sold over 200 million games and made Darrow the first millionaire game designer in history.

Speaker A:

Isn't that like.

Speaker A:

That's fascinating.

Speaker C:

Wow.

Speaker C:

Are you big into Monopoly?

Speaker C:

Did you play?

Speaker A:

I played when I was younger, and then we went into the faster version.

Speaker A:

You know what the fast version is?

Speaker A:

When you pass out all the properties and instead of buying them and then you just go directly to it, and that's the quick version.

Speaker C:

My family will play Monopoly here and there.

Speaker C:

But it's funny because we'll be in the mood for Monopoly and then it gets about four hours in and we're just over it.

Speaker A:

That's when it fails.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

There's a Yiddish version called Chutzpah.

Speaker A:

We play that a lot.

Speaker A:

I won't Discuss that.

Speaker A:

No, that's not for discussing last thing.

Speaker A:

1971, Alan Shepard hit some golf balls on the moon as part of the Apollo 14 mission.

Speaker A:

I think that's just brilliant.

Speaker A:

He snuck an iron onto the ship and then he took a rock from the moon and attached it together and hit a golf ball with it.

Speaker A:

Yeah, not everybody did everything right.

Speaker A:

Sometimes they just did stuff.

Speaker A:

Your trivia question.

Speaker A:

Fill in the blank.

Speaker A:

Regarding the verse from Jeremiah.

Speaker A:

Can the blank change his skin or the leopard his spots?

Speaker A:

Is that the Philistine, the Ethiopian, the Israelite, or the Macedonian?

Speaker A:

Your reference, Jeremiah:

Speaker A:

Back to the text we go.

Speaker A:

Remember I was talking about don't let people judge you.

Speaker A:

Don't judge other people.

Speaker A:

Verse 17 says, these are a shadow of things to come.

Speaker A:

That is scripture way of saying, come on, it ain't the big deal, but the body that cast it belonged to Christ.

Speaker A:

Verse 18.

Speaker A:

Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worshiping of angels disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen.

Speaker A:

Such a person is puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind.

Speaker A:

I find that fascinating.

Speaker A:

I do.

Speaker A:

He gives us this instruction telling us not to let anyone who delights in false humility and worshiping of angels disqualify you.

Speaker A:

Worshiping of angels and the false humility.

Speaker A:

I don't know why the Lord would ever use me, but he showed me this great thing through this angel.

Speaker A:

There's a couple of very specific religious groups that have revelations through angels.

Speaker A:

We'll leave that there and just point to this passage and go, uh huh.

Speaker A:

And it's very clear that what it says, it says, hey, here's what it says.

Speaker A:

This refers to spiritually angry oriented people who are not actually Holy Spirit led.

Speaker A:

There's a mysticism there.

Speaker A:

There's a superficial spiritualness in their lives.

Speaker A:

You know how you really find out these people?

Speaker A:

That's when the person who's talking or saying something goes, well, I'm spiritual.

Speaker A:

It's like, really, I'm just forgiven.

Speaker A:

I mean, I'm just not going through that rubbish.

Speaker A:

And so it gives them this appearance of being some super great person or super great connected person.

Speaker A:

And it's all just from inside themselves especially.

Speaker A:

And when we get back, we're going to talk about what the key component is there, because I'm not saying it on purpose so that we can focus on it, but it's like in their minds they're not spiritual when it comes to God.

Speaker A:

It's like a false spirituality.

Speaker A:

It's like fake.

Speaker A:

It's like demonic.

Speaker A:

You know how you can tell?

Speaker A:

Your radar, your Spidey sense goes, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.

Speaker A:

Because the Holy Spirit in you goes, no, not a chance.

Speaker A:

You just start picking apart cults and start doing that.

Speaker A:

And I think you'd be able to find a lot of that.

Speaker A:

Don't get impressed with that.

Speaker A:

In fact, we talk about that.

Speaker A:

I asked the question yesterday.

Speaker A:

Have you ever had a supernatural experience?

Speaker A:

Have you ever had a dream?

Speaker A:

Those things are fine.

Speaker A:

But that's not the basis of our faith.

Speaker A:

to Revelation:

Speaker A:

And when people start saying, well, no, I had this vision.

Speaker A:

Well, if your vision was different than the word of God, you're a nut.

Speaker A:

Let's just say that.

Speaker A:

Let me keep it simple.

Speaker A:

I believe much more God can write a book than you and your Taco Bell experiences giving revelation to who God is.

Speaker A:

I think that's a fair assessment.

Speaker A:

I'll stand with it.

Speaker A:

Okay, fill in the blank.

Speaker A:

Regarding this verse from Jeremiah, can the blank change his skin or a leopard his spots?

Speaker A:

Is it Philistine, Ethiopian, Israelite, or Macedonian?

Speaker A:

It is Ethiopian.

Speaker A:

Can an Ethiopian change his skin or a leopard his spots?

Speaker A:

The obvious answer, no.

Speaker A:

All right, we'll take our break here and then come back.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truce station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break, can't stand the skill.

Speaker F:

Kisses from our good friend, friend, Pastor Ray.

Speaker F:

He wrote this wonderful devotional called When Grace Is Tangible.

Speaker F:

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.

Speaker F:

That's John, chapter one, verse 14.

Speaker F:

There is more to grace than I ever imagined.

Speaker F:

Now, I'm going to stop you right there.

Speaker A:

So I was praying, this is in.

Speaker F:

The last month, and I even wrote.

Speaker A:

It down in my little journal, how I believe the Lord had communicated to.

Speaker F:

Me personally that I do not understand the depth of God's grace.

Speaker F:

So then this devotion comes.

Speaker F:

I'm like, oh, I just know the Lord's trying to teach me more.

Speaker A:

All right, let me back it up to what Ray says.

Speaker F:

There is more to grace than I ever imagined.

Speaker F:

We sing of amazing grace with the hope and longing that inspires people of all faiths and walks of life.

Speaker F:

Theologically, grace is defined as unmerited.

Speaker A:

Favorite.

Speaker F:

A good, sound concept.

Speaker F:

But there is something more tangible about grace, something we can picture in our minds.

Speaker F:

God once told Moses, I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Speaker F:

Grace, as I discovered in the Hebrew language, is more than a favor granted in spite of our failings.

Speaker F:

When God says he will be gracious to whomever he chooses, he uses the word hanan, which adds a new layer of our understanding.

Speaker F:

Because hanan means to show favor, mercy, to bend or to stoop in kindness.

Speaker F:

God is not only granting favor and.

Speaker A:

Mercy, but the word picture is of.

Speaker F:

Him bending down to us in kindness, like a father getting down on his knees to embrace his children.

Speaker A:

There is even more to this picture.

Speaker F:

The root of the word chanaan means to pitch a tent, to encamp, to.

Speaker A:

Abide, to dwell, to rest.

Speaker F:

There is more than g d granting favor.

Speaker F:

He wants to dwell with us, to.

Speaker A:

Camp out with us.

Speaker A:

The God who is so very beyond.

Speaker F:

Us, not of this world, desires for his glory to abide with us and in us.

Speaker F:

God will be gracious to whomever he chooses, and he will come and live with them and dwell with them and camp out with them, whomever he chooses.

Speaker F:

And when it makes no sense to anybody else, it doesn't matter.

Speaker F:

Even if it doesn't meet our standard of approval.

Speaker F:

The Almighty Lord desires to dwell with us, not just rule over us, certainly not to start a religion, but to love us and live with us in.

Speaker A:

A tangible, real way, to show us.

Speaker F:

The way, the truth and the life.

Speaker F:

The ultimate experience of God bending down.

Speaker F:

Listen to this.

Speaker F:

The ultimate experience of God bending down, stoop, stooping down to the ground to dwell amongst us is the incarnation of Jesus Christ.

Speaker A:

The David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

That's Ka Amen.

Speaker A:

770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Tomorrow we'll do Jake's take on the Super Bowl.

Speaker A:

Here's your last trivia question, and you have to be quick.

Speaker A:

Is that making.

Speaker A:

Okay, just making sure.

Speaker A:

In Daniel, chapter five, who was so scared his knees knocked together?

Speaker A:

Daniel 5:1, Daniel 5:6.

Speaker A:

In Daniel 5, who was so scared his knees knocked together?

Speaker A:

Was it Moses, Belshazzar, Solomon or Lot?

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Additionally, you can send an email davidemusincrease.org in Daniel 5, who was so scared his knees knocked together.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

Was that Moses, Belshazzar, Solomon or lot?

Speaker A:

Daniel 5:1 and Daniel 5:6, if you think you know.

Speaker A:

All right, so we do want to close this, or we do want to finish this up, because I don't want you to miss the big connector.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

So I'm going to do the ramping it.

Speaker A:

Reading it like reading it from the top and going all the way through so that you can follow the whole connection.

Speaker A:

And here's the big thing.

Speaker A:

So verse 16.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

Verse 16.

Speaker A:

Here we go.

Speaker A:

From the beginning of our reading in chapter two of Colossians.

Speaker A:

Therefore, let no one judge you by what you eat, drink, or with regard to a feast, new moon, or a Sabbath.

Speaker A:

These are a shadow of things to come.

Speaker A:

But the body that casts it belongs to Christ.

Speaker A:

Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worshipping of angels disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen.

Speaker A:

Such a person is puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind.

Speaker A:

Here it is.

Speaker A:

He has lost connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow.

Speaker A:

Now, here's what I want you to catch, okay?

Speaker A:

And we're going to.

Speaker A:

I think somebody is going to try and answer that, but we're going to do it on a pretty swift.

Speaker A:

Do it very fast.

Speaker A:

But listen to what he's saying.

Speaker A:

These people that are mystically spiritual are not connected to the head.

Speaker A:

Okay, we'll make it real easy.

Speaker A:

Who is the head of the church?

Speaker A:

Jesus.

Speaker A:

So these people are not connected to Jesus.

Speaker A:

That's the thing.

Speaker A:

When they sit there and say, oh, I had this and this happened, and I saw this and this, and then the angels wrestled around this, and then this, and then this trembled, and this trembled, and this happened, and this happened.

Speaker A:

If there is no Jesus in their conversation, time to move on.

Speaker A:

Do you get it?

Speaker A:

Do you get it?

Speaker A:

Hold that thought.

Speaker A:

We're going to take this person, have them answer the trivia question, right?

Speaker A:

Is that going to answer?

Speaker A:

And then we're going to zap right back into this.

Speaker A:

So go ahead and send the person through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker G:

It's Shell.

Speaker A:

Hi, Shel.

Speaker A:

How are you?

Speaker G:

I'm good.

Speaker A:

Good.

Speaker G:

Enjoying his weather.

Speaker A:

It's pretty nice, I gotta say.

Speaker A:

All right, my friend who knocked so scared, he knocked his knees together.

Speaker A:

Was it Moses, Belshazzar, Solomon or Lot?

Speaker G:

Belshazzar.

Speaker A:

That is correct.

Speaker A:

I'm like, no, Just real quickly, do you remember what he saw that knocked his knees together?

Speaker A:

Do you remember what he saw?

Speaker G:

Oh, my goodness.

Speaker G:

I Should, because I just read Daniel not that long ago, but I not.

Speaker A:

It's the hand that was writing on the wall without a body.

Speaker G:

Oh, that's right.

Speaker A:

Isn't that the weirdest thing?

Speaker A:

It's like.

Speaker A:

I think there's a movie called the Thing where it's a hand and it goes all around.

Speaker A:

It's like.

Speaker A:

That's like a hand goes up on the wall and starts writing.

Speaker A:

It's like there's a handwriting on the wall.

Speaker G:

I think I'd have a little momentary lapse of.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I mean, wouldn't you just lose it?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean, and hence the phrase handwriting.

Speaker A:

Just kidding.

Speaker G:

I'll give you that one.

Speaker G:

I'll give you that one.

Speaker A:

Thank you, brother.

Speaker A:

I appreciate it.

Speaker A:

Excellent job, my brother.

Speaker A:

Excellent, Excellent job.

Speaker A:

You okay?

Speaker A:

You doing good?

Speaker G:

I'm good.

Speaker G:

I am good.

Speaker A:

All right, my brother.

Speaker A:

God bless you.

Speaker G:

Working through the day.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I know.

Speaker A:

You got to get through it.

Speaker A:

You got to get to it.

Speaker A:

Got to get through it.

Speaker A:

And then we'll be there, right?

Speaker G:

We're going to do all the above.

Speaker A:

Amen, brother.

Speaker A:

God bless you, man.

Speaker G:

God bless you, my friend.

Speaker G:

You have a great day.

Speaker A:

You, too.

Speaker G:

All right, Bye bye.

Speaker A:

Bye bye.

Speaker A:

All right, great.

Speaker A:

See, that was funny.

Speaker A:

The hand scared him.

Speaker A:

His knees knocked.

Speaker A:

He got that right.

Speaker A:

Great job on that.

Speaker A:

Thus we get the word handwriting.

Speaker A:

Well, that's not true, but it is funny.

Speaker A:

Okay, going back to this.

Speaker A:

So these people that are freaking out, telling you they're so spiritual, they're not connected to Jesus.

Speaker A:

That's what he says.

Speaker A:

He's lost connection.

Speaker A:

This person's puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind.

Speaker A:

He has lost connection to the head.

Speaker A:

They might even have had some connection at some point.

Speaker A:

Not a genuine connection or would last, but from the whole body.

Speaker A:

They've lost it because the whole church, the whole body functions from Jesus Christ being the head.

Speaker A:

Never forget, no man is the head of a church.

Speaker A:

That's so stupid, that's even immature.

Speaker A:

Jesus is the head of the church.

Speaker A:

He's the only one that's the head of the church.

Speaker A:

Why?

Speaker A:

Because he's born of man and of God.

Speaker A:

He's the only one that can be.

Speaker A:

I do love this last little bit, though, because a lot of people who are into church growth don't catch this.

Speaker A:

It says he has lost connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry, who's their church growth coordinator?

Speaker A:

God is right.

Speaker A:

See what I'm saying God is.

Speaker A:

You see what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

God is the church growth coordinator.

Speaker A:

If you go to a church, you have a church growth coordinator, just lovingly say you're the sub church growth coordinator.

Speaker A:

Because God is the church growth coordinator.

Speaker A:

God is the one that causes to grow the body of Christ to grow, not us.

Speaker A:

Oh, we'll do this, we'll do this and we'll grow this and we'll do this.

Speaker A:

Uh huh, sure.

Speaker A:

So this whole premise, this whole thing is what?

Speaker A:

It's Colossians, We've talked about this before and I'm just reiterating it.

Speaker A:

So you know what Paul is trying to accomplish?

Speaker A:

Everything in this letter is all about Christology, the study of Christ, pointing to Jesus.

Speaker A:

This is the most Christolich Christologic letter there is and the deepest of all of it theologically because everything happens through Jesus, period.

Speaker A:

And every time you read that book, you know that and you go, oh, okay, I get it.

Speaker A:

Okay, I got it.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Everything is connected to that.

Speaker A:

And the truth of the matter is, don't get caught up in letting people judge you.

Speaker A:

Don't judge other people.

Speaker A:

Those things are a shadow of things to come.

Speaker A:

And don't let somebody come in and put on a flash dance show trying to communicate they're super duper spiritual because they've seen this, this, this, this, this, this, this.

Speaker A:

If they are not grounded in the word of God, it's time to walk away.

Speaker A:

And if those very people are most likely disconnected from Jesus.

Speaker A:

And that's all you gotta know.

Speaker A:

Like disconnected from Jesus.

Speaker A:

No way, baby, I'm gone, I'm out of here.

Speaker A:

You're not gonna have any input in my life.

Speaker A:

If somebody talks to you, academic or entertainment point of view or from a news reporting point of view, and they're not connected to Jesus, you better be aware of that because what they're going to say is not, not going to be all that you think it should be.

Speaker A:

That's right, you think, does that include all of those areas?

Speaker A:

Yes, because it's through Jesus that this whole thing goes.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker A:

That's all.

Speaker A:

All right folks, you have been listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

22 and a half hour break, then we'll come back.

Speaker A:

More insanity with spoonanity.

Speaker A:

Talk to you.

Speaker B:

The views expressed in the preceding program were those of the speakers and not necessarily those of kaam, DJRD Broadcasting or its sponsors.
