01-31-2025 part 1: From Abraham to Us: The Eternal Promises of God

The promises of God are not merely abstract ideals but constitute a profound reality that we access through faith, much akin to the faith exemplified by Abraham. In this discourse, I engage in a thorough examination of these divine assurances, emphasizing their precious and magnificent nature as articulated in Scripture. We delve into the implications of possessing such promises, which are designed to empower us in our spiritual journey and enable us to partake in the divine nature. Furthermore, I highlight the necessity of an active faith, illustrating how our belief connects us to these promises and facilitates a transformative relationship with the Almighty. Ultimately, I invite listeners to reflect deeply on the significance of these promises and their relevance in the pursuit of a life characterized by godliness and integrity.

The discourse intricately delves into the profound implications of hope within the Christian community, particularly as it pertains to the forthcoming month of February. Dr. David Spoon initiates an introspective examination, urging listeners to contemplate their aspirations and beliefs as they transition into a new month. The dialogue is not merely a casual reflection; it serves as a catalyst for spiritual engagement among the audience. Dr. Spoon emphasizes the importance of collective introspection, encouraging individuals to articulate their hopes, which can foster a deeper understanding of one's faith and its practical applications in daily life. He posits that such communal reflections can lead to a more profound connection with God and with one another, ultimately enriching the spiritual journey of each participant in the conversation.

Moreover, the episode navigates the intricate relationships between personal faith, communal prayer practices, and the active participation in the life of the church. Dr. Spoon invites listeners to engage in a practice he terms 'FEB buddies,' wherein individuals commit to praying for one another throughout the month. This initiative underscores the communal aspect of faith, reminding the audience that prayer serves as a powerful tool for intercession and support within the body of Christ. The episode thus presents a compelling argument for the necessity of mutual support among believers, reinforcing the idea that faith is not a solitary endeavor but rather a shared journey characterized by collective hopes and prayers.

The concluding segments articulate the essence of divine promises as articulated in scripture, particularly referencing 2 Peter. Dr. Spoon elucidates that God's divine power equips believers with all that is necessary for life and godliness, emphasizing that through knowledge of Him, believers can partake in a divine nature that transcends earthly limitations. This theme of empowerment through divine promise serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative potential inherent in the Christian faith, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own spiritual vitality and the promises that undergird their beliefs.

Takeaways:

  • The promises bestowed upon us by God are truly remarkable and profound.
  • Our connection to these divine promises is facilitated through faith, akin to Abraham's experience.
  • Engaging with God's promises allows us to partake in His divine nature and glory.
  • It is essential to remember that God's promises are eternal and unchanging, offering us hope and assurance.

The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.

Speaker A:

We hope so.

Speaker A:

Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't if we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

Speaker A:

What am I, chapp liver?

Speaker A:

Huh?

Speaker A:

You don't like that?

Speaker A:

Huh?

Speaker A:

Huh?

Speaker A:

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Local, national and heavenly talk.

Speaker A:

Happy Friday, James.

Speaker A:

My name is Dr.

Speaker A:

David Spoon.

Speaker A:

I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.

Speaker A:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

Speaker A:

Here is the key to the show.

Speaker A:

We don't know what we're doing.

Speaker A:

We have no idea what's gonna happen and we don't care.

Speaker A:

But for the next few minutes, I want to talk Jesus with you.

Speaker A:

So here we go.

Speaker A:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

Speaker A:

That thing right there.

Speaker A:

It's a good question.

Speaker A:

Cause we're trying to follow a specific pathway.

Speaker A:

And so I am asking you, I'm asking myself, I'm asking all of us together, collectively.

Speaker A:

You answer individually, but I'm asking everybody, what are we hoping for in this upcoming month?

Speaker A:

Now, we are on the 31st day of January.

Speaker A:

There is 28 days coming in February.

Speaker A:

What are you hoping for in February?

Speaker A:

Now here.

Speaker A:

Wait, wait, wait, wait.

Speaker A:

I'm not done.

Speaker A:

Just slow down, slow down.

Speaker A:

What are we hoping for in February?

Speaker A:

Wait, wait, wait.

Speaker A:

And do we believe that is the question?

Speaker A:

If you have an answer to that, an opinion, a comment, a thought, or your own question, we don't want that to die of loneliness.

Speaker A:

Just reach out and give us a holla.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

Talking to Jam and Jacob.

Speaker A:

That's like a peaceful day and evening with no drama.

Speaker A:

Thank you, David.

Speaker A:

Happy Friday.

Speaker A:

Happy Friday to you, my friend.

Speaker A:

I assume everything is going well today.

Speaker A:

Is everything good?

Speaker A:

Everything good?

Speaker A:

Going good so far.

Speaker A:

How's your day going?

Speaker A:

Really good.

Speaker A:

Really, really, really good.

Speaker A:

Had a couple of really good things.

Speaker A:

I had this phenomenal moment in devotions.

Speaker A:

And this happens.

Speaker A:

And if you guys will.

Speaker A:

That's one of the reasons I do the DNA all the time.

Speaker A:

So I'm sitting there doing my devotions, right?

Speaker A:

I'm reading.

Speaker A:

I'm in the portion right now in First John.

Speaker A:

And I'm looking at this one thing in First John, Chapter one, Verse four.

Speaker A:

And I kept looking at it going.

Speaker A:

You know, they have this different kind of.

Speaker A:

What's the word?

Speaker A:

They have a different kind of translation for this one word.

Speaker A:

So they have one word in the text and then one word in the footnote.

Speaker A:

And it's like, so you know that there's some question as to what that word is.

Speaker A:

And so I'm looking at it and I'm thinking, well, I wonder why that word can't be both.

Speaker A:

You know, it's because it just seems like, why would it have to be one or the other kind of thing?

Speaker A:

I go into the Greek and then I go into commentaries.

Speaker A:

Guess what?

Speaker A:

The majority of everybody says it's both.

Speaker A:

It's like, hello.

Speaker A:

It was such a blessing to see, you know, I thought it would be that way.

Speaker A:

It's so cool.

Speaker A:

So I was really, really, really, really jazzed about it.

Speaker A:

So that really got my whole day rolling.

Speaker A:

It's just like I am rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling.

Speaker A:

Keep them doggies rolling.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So anyway, so I just wanna say that.

Speaker A:

Just a phenomenal thing, and that's what happens in the Lord.

Speaker A:

So I'm doing great.

Speaker A:

Thank you for asking me.

Speaker A:

I appreciate it.

Speaker A:

You're welcome.

Speaker A:

You never thought I'd go on that kind of rant, did you?

Speaker A:

But, hey, it's what's going on right now.

Speaker A:

All right, so let's talk about this.

Speaker A:

I wanna make sure everybody knows what's going on.

Speaker A:

Overall, what I want you to be aware of is you can contact us through the telephone.

Speaker A:

You can also text.

Speaker A:

Now, listen, we.

Speaker A:

When you call the phone, I'm gonna say this really clearly.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or if you want to send an email david@hemustincrease.org David, my name David with a circle.

Speaker A:

He must increase from John 3:30.

Speaker A:

He must increase.

Speaker A:

I must decrease.org because we're a non profit corporation.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

If you go out into your front porch and you holler David, I probably will not hear you.

Speaker A:

I'm just letting you know.

Speaker A:

Now, the reason that you would reach out to us is for simply this.

Speaker A:

Maybe, of course, you've got an answer to that first question.

Speaker A:

What are you hoping for this month?

Speaker A:

Coming up in the month of February, what are you hoping for?

Speaker A:

What are you and do you believe?

Speaker A:

But maybe you've got a praise report, something happened, you've been praying for people, something really awesome took place and it's like, I gotta share it.

Speaker A:

Just feel like the Lord's with us in this, we're going through this process.

Speaker A:

It's happening, it's working.

Speaker A:

That is an excellent reason to reach out to us and share because those type of testimonies and praise reports bless people, but more importantly, they honor God.

Speaker A:

That's what's most important.

Speaker A:

Additionally, maybe you've got a prayer request.

Speaker A:

You know, a great way to get to, to a praise report is to have a prayer request like that.

Speaker A:

That's pretty good.

Speaker A:

So we believe God answers prayer because he continually answers our prayers.

Speaker A:

He's been doing it for most of us for all of our lives.

Speaker A:

We just don't ever mention it because we don't want people to think we're weirdos.

Speaker A:

And the bottom line is that God does a great thing and we should make a proclamation and God continually answers prayers and we should petition.

Speaker A:

It's funny because Jesus said ask.

Speaker A:

Jesus didn't say in Matthew 7, 7, think about asking God.

Speaker A:

He said, ask and you'll receive.

Speaker A:

That's what he tells us in the Sermon on the Mount.

Speaker A:

Ask and you will receive.

Speaker A:

Okay, there you go.

Speaker A:

So we're just following the commands of Jesus when we're praying.

Speaker A:

Additionally, maybe you got something that just kind of sparked you, got you going.

Speaker A:

It's like, ooh, ooh, ooh, really cool.

Speaker A:

Just want to share it.

Speaker A:

This thing happened, this came across or this really inspired me, Dave.

Speaker A:

It was nothing specific, just really Blessed me.

Speaker A:

Awesome.

Speaker A:

Then share it.

Speaker A:

That's a great opportunity to do that.

Speaker A:

I will tell you that in a little while we're going to pray either this segment or in the next segment.

Speaker A:

I'm going to be praying for Keith Oakley.

Speaker A:

I'm going to ask you to take Keith on as your FEB buddy.

Speaker A:

We're talking about FEB buddies.

Speaker A:

What is that?

Speaker A:

February is this time where we're asking people when you hear somebody's name or somebody calls in or somebody comes to mind or we're talking about somebody on the show and it kind of makes a click with you in your heart and your mind and we're just asking you throughout the month then just pray for that person.

Speaker A:

It's not that you gotta pray for em every 10 seconds, but mention them before the Lord.

Speaker A:

Be a person that does that, that responds to that and that kind of jumps into that.

Speaker A:

That's all I wanna say to you because it's a great way to carry one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Speaker A:

Additionally, and one more thing to say and then I'm gonna jump into the teaching and it is phenomenal teaching.

Speaker A:

Well, not that I can teach it phenomenally, it's just great material.

Speaker A:

The other thing I want to say, and this is really important for those of you out there that have this tendency.

Speaker A:

So I'm going to give you a small warning.

Speaker A:

It's easy to get caught up in the kingdom of men.

Speaker A:

And while it is right and proper to pray on an everyday basis for the things of our leaders to be moved upon their minds and their hearts by the Spirit of God, that the will of God might be done.

Speaker A:

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Speaker A:

Thy kingdom come.

Speaker A:

We want the kingdom of God here on earth.

Speaker A:

It's now the kingdom and it's later the kingdom.

Speaker A:

People are like, what do you mean?

Speaker A:

It's now or later?

Speaker A:

You get saved now and there'll be a bigger manifestation later.

Speaker A:

And in between those two points, that's what we're operating in.

Speaker A:

So thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Speaker A:

It's not a bad thing.

Speaker A:

It's a right thing to pray for leaders, to pray that God influences them to be a part of that.

Speaker A:

But it is also easy for many people to get caught up in the warfare between the sides.

Speaker A:

And I give you this warning as a brother in the Lord.

Speaker A:

Do not get swept up in the us versus Them.

Speaker A:

Get swept up in thy kingdom come.

Speaker A:

Thy will be done.

Speaker A:

That is substantially different.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

A Political party, Independent, Democratic, Republican, is not the kingdom of God.

Speaker A:

And do not insult God that way.

Speaker A:

So don't get caught up.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

That's me saying that doesn't mean you can't participate.

Speaker A:

Just don't get overwhelmed.

Speaker A:

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else shall be added unto you.

Speaker A:

By the way, we are in 2 Peter.

Speaker A:

We did 2 Peter last week, and it was great because we talked about something.

Speaker A:

And you're going to find out as we go to 2 Peter 1:3, that verse 3 is.

Speaker A:

Is very similar to verse 2.

Speaker A:

And what you're going to discover as we talk about this and as I share this with you is that I'm telling you now it is not a repeat from last week.

Speaker A:

You're going to think, is this a repeat?

Speaker A:

No, it is not a repeat.

Speaker A:

But this is how Peter, as he's aging and getting closer to making his exit, is trying to communicate.

Speaker A:

In fact, in 2 Peter 1:12, Peter says, Therefore, I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are established in the truth.

Speaker A:

You now have.

Speaker A:

Peter's commitment as he was getting older was to make sure that people remembered.

Speaker A:

And so in 2 Peter, you have repetitive elements that go through his letter.

Speaker A:

The reason is because he wants people to remember.

Speaker A:

Get that?

Speaker A:

I mean, that's like, okay, that makes sense.

Speaker A:

So here we're gonna go into 2 Peter 1.

Speaker A:

We're picking it up in verse 3, and here's what the text says.

Speaker A:

And yes, you're gonna find it's very similar to verse 2.

Speaker A:

Here's what it says.

Speaker A:

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence.

Speaker A:

Through these, he has given us his precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Speaker A:

Dave, why is that very similar?

Speaker A:

Because last week we said this in verse two, grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Speaker A:

That knowledge word is epigonosa.

Speaker A:

And again we go into epigonosa.

Speaker A:

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him.

Speaker A:

The epigenosa.

Speaker A:

What's the epigenosa?

Speaker A:

Contact knowledge.

Speaker A:

It is not just head knowledge.

Speaker A:

Christianity cannot just be something that you consider in the brain.

Speaker A:

It is a full embracing of the Lord.

Speaker A:

It is not just knowing him intellectually.

Speaker A:

It is knowing him in your mind, in your heart, in Your body, in your soul.

Speaker A:

Wait a minute.

Speaker A:

Is there something like love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind?

Speaker A:

Well, that's what we're talking about.

Speaker A:

It's that kind of engagement, that kind of context.

Speaker A:

So he's absolutely repeating, but saying it just with a small variation from verse 2 to verse 3 in 2 Peter 1.

Speaker A:

So as we pick it back up, let's understand this is the bold apostle.

Speaker A:

He's got no problem.

Speaker A:

He's got no problem being that bold and brash apostle, right?

Speaker A:

And he says his divine power from the Lord has given us everything we need for life.

Speaker A:

So let's stop right there.

Speaker A:

It's not an understatement to say that God has provided everything, everything we need to walk this walk.

Speaker A:

You are not coming shy, you are not coming behind.

Speaker A:

This has a lot to do with the similarity to the Colossians teach you notice how there's a lot of similarity in Scripture.

Speaker A:

There's a reason not only to walk a walk of faith, but also, and this is one of those things.

Speaker A:

In other words, when God gives us this ability to walk the walk, it is a walk of faith, but it's also a walk of integrity.

Speaker A:

It's a walk of godliness.

Speaker A:

It's a walk of reflecting Jesus in what we think, say and do.

Speaker A:

And God through Jesus Christ and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit has given us the ability to walk a walk that is full of godliness and full of reflection of Jesus.

Speaker A:

But the key is to understand that this comes through the knowledge that we have with him, the intimate knowledge, the contact knowledge that places us in a position that we have everything we need.

Speaker A:

I'll say it this way once again.

Speaker A:

By connecting with God, we step into the power that enables us to handle everything.

Speaker A:

Uh oh, I'm going to have to repeat.

Speaker A:

Listen to what I said.

Speaker A:

This is really important for you and I.

Speaker A:

It's important for the walk.

Speaker A:

By connecting with God, we step into the power that enables us to handle everything.

Speaker A:

That's the key.

Speaker A:

Not God just pulling you out so that you can run away from it.

Speaker A:

That's not.

Speaker A:

You can do all things through Christ, which includes endure what you're going through, but you have to be connected.

Speaker A:

Then he says this, and I find this to be really fascinating.

Speaker A:

I do, because in verse one, he talks about our faith being precious.

Speaker A:

Now in verse three, he's talking about the promises of God being precious.

Speaker A:

See, Peter's doing all this repetitive work, this connectiveness.

Speaker A:

And so here he says in this, his divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence.

Speaker A:

Through these he has given us his precious and magnificent promises.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

We have received from God.

Speaker A:

Listen to this.

Speaker A:

Precious and magnificent promises.

Speaker A:

Stop thinking about Lord of the Rings and the goofy character.

Speaker A:

Precious is awesomely, awesomely, awesomely cool stuff from God.

Speaker A:

And we have received these precious and magnificent promises.

Speaker A:

So perhaps, call me crazy, perhaps we should take a little more time reflecting on these promises that we have received from God, which are, by the way, all the promises in him are yes and amen.

Speaker A:

They're precious, they're beautiful, they're magnificent, they're incredibly awesome.

Speaker A:

And we are thoroughly blessed that he has made promises to us about anything at all.

Speaker A:

But he has promised us even great glory.

Speaker A:

Not self worship glory, but participation in God's glory.

Speaker A:

The glory of God is His presence manifested and he's offering us eternity in that very presence.

Speaker A:

Now I want to show you something that's going to I think you'll like it.

Speaker A:

I think you'll really appreciate it.

Speaker A:

Not only is that the case, but in my own private life God has been challenging me to recognize that the promises that he gave to Abraham, which are precious and are magnificent, also belong to me as a Bible believing, born again Christian.

Speaker A:

So being a not prosper guy, just follow along.

Speaker A:

I tend to fight the Lord on those things from time to time.

Speaker A:

Not because I don't want to be blessed, I just don't want to fall into this pursuit of this, that, whatever.

Speaker A:

But if you will look at the passages and I'll give you just three passages and listen to how this connects.

Speaker A:

In Galatians 3.

Speaker A:

7 it says this.

Speaker A:

Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.

Speaker A:

Let me repeat that.

Speaker A:

Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.

Speaker A:

Now listen to Galatians 3.

Speaker A:

9.

Speaker A:

So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

Speaker A:

Listen to what it says.

Speaker A:

Galatians New Testament 3:9 so then, those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

Speaker A:

Listen to this.

Speaker A:

Galatians 3:29 and if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

Speaker A:

Did you get that?

Speaker A:

And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

Speaker A:

Because of our faith in Jesus Christ, we are heirs with Abraham in the promise that God made.

Speaker A:

Because God made that promise to Abraham and to his seed.

Speaker A:

In one context that's Christ.

Speaker A:

In the other context it's all of us who are believers.

Speaker A:

And those promises that Abraham received are participatory with us because we are also heirs of those promise, being heirs of Abraham because of our faith.

Speaker A:

Now that doesn't mean that you get to win the lottery every time you play.

Speaker A:

So stop that.

Speaker A:

What it does mean is that God will be with us like he was with Abraham.

Speaker A:

And God will bless us like he blessed Abraham if our faith is active in the Lord.

Speaker A:

Because remember, Abraham was justified by his faith.

Speaker A:

So why I'm saying that is we have to have an active faith.

Speaker A:

And that opens up the door.

Speaker A:

And I tell the Lord, I know I'm supposed to really step in that and I really have a lot of faith in a lot of areas.

Speaker A:

But then there's other ways where I think, yeah, but I'm such a jerk.

Speaker A:

And that's the problem right there is the enemy uses my own self doubt against me to eliminate my own faith.

Speaker A:

Yet these are precious promises that God has committed to us.

Speaker A:

And Peter is saying, look, he's given us these precious and magnificent promises.

Speaker A:

The beginning of these promises go back to Abraham.

Speaker A:

Like, yeah, I'm going to bless you.

Speaker A:

In fact, in Genesis 13, he said to Abraham, look to the north, look to the south, look to the east and look to the west.

Speaker A:

I will bless you in every one of these directions.

Speaker A:

You know, that means wherever he goes.

Speaker A:

Isn't that wild?

Speaker A:

And we're heirs of that very same thing.

Speaker A:

Like, okay, maybe we should operate with a little more faith.

Speaker A:

Maybe we should do this.

Speaker A:

I'm going to call me nuts here.

Speaker A:

I think maybe we should do this.

Speaker A:

Ready?

Speaker A:

I think we should just appreciate and recognize and consider and dwell on and rejoice in these incredible, precious and magnificent promises that God has given us because he gave them to us.

Speaker A:

And it's.

Speaker A:

The promises of God are steadfast, endure.

Speaker A:

And you're a recipient of those promises.

Speaker A:

Do you know what one of those promises is?

Speaker A:

He's going to change you into an immortal, never able to die being.

Speaker A:

And you will live forever with God.

Speaker A:

Come on, how is that?

Speaker A:

Okay, I take it I receive that in Jesus name, right?

Speaker A:

He has given us his precious and magnificent promises so that through them, through these promises we can be partakers of the divine nature.

Speaker A:

It is through the promises of God that Jesus functions through us.

Speaker A:

All of these are connected.

Speaker A:

Isn't that just, just think about those.

Speaker A:

That's kind of like mind blowing stuff.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah, it is.

Speaker A:

It's awesome because it's a commitment that God has made to you and I.

Speaker A:

And I Do want to say this to people out there?

Speaker A:

God makes promises to people.

Speaker A:

That's one of the things that he does, does do.

Speaker A:

Now, there are times where I think, I thought the Lord made a promise to me and it wasn't the Lord.

Speaker A:

And I was wrong.

Speaker A:

And you gotta be big enough and mature enough to go, yeah, that was wrong.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

But there's other times the Lord has made promises to you, and it is him.

Speaker A:

And we do need to believe most of the time.

Speaker A:

The difference is our promises that we make up in our mind die.

Speaker A:

They don't have legs.

Speaker A:

It's kind of a nice way to put it.

Speaker A:

It's like it's from the Lord.

Speaker A:

It's like.

Speaker A:

It's kind of like a balloon that runs out of.

Speaker A:

But the promises from God, they never die.

Speaker A:

A promise from God is eternal.

Speaker A:

I remember I was driving down the freeway in Flagstaff, Arizona, just, you can't get away from this.

Speaker A:

And as I was communing with the Lord and just kind of going through this thing, I don't know if the Lord showed me or I was just trying to reflect.

Speaker A:

I was trying to figure it out.

Speaker A:

Let's say it was kind of doing that with God, doing some meditating.

Speaker A:

Meditating and connection.

Speaker A:

And everything that God does, in its essence is eternal.

Speaker A:

Everything he does in his promises are never ending.

Speaker A:

And he makes a promise.

Speaker A:

Listen to this promise.

Speaker A:

Listen to what I'm going to tell you.

Speaker A:

That he will never abandon you, ever.

Speaker A:

Now, if that doesn't move us to our core, maybe.

Speaker A:

Maybe we're eating too many tacos or we're watching too much terrible television because God has made this promise.

Speaker A:

He will never abandon us.

Speaker A:

That's how much he loves us.

Speaker A:

I was just like, you got to be kidding.

Speaker A:

Anybody loves me that much?

Speaker A:

It's amazing.

Speaker A:

I know what I am.

Speaker A:

I know where the faults are.

Speaker A:

I know where every crack.

Speaker A:

I don't even know where every crack is.

Speaker A:

I know where a lot of the cracks are.

Speaker A:

I know where a lot of the failures are.

Speaker A:

God.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I love you.

Speaker A:

I'm there for you now.

Speaker A:

Isn't that cool?

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

And the rest of the passage says this so that through them, through these promises, you may become partakers of the divine nature.

Speaker A:

Now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires, never forget that the world is filled with evil desires.

Speaker A:

It's even in the politicians and everything that's.

Speaker A:

It's not that it's wrong, but when you come across something, whether it's your side or the other side and disturbs you in your spirit.

Speaker A:

That's because in your spirit you're, like, going, because it's not the kingdom of God, it's not the Holy Spirit, it's not the glory of God, and you know it.

Speaker A:

Whether it's on your side or not, you just gotta recognize that.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

And be honest about it.

Speaker A:

That's what the promises do.

Speaker A:

All right, we will take our break here, and then we'll come back from that.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break.

Speaker A:

We'll be back.

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker A:

What is the David Spoon experience?

Speaker A:

Isaiah, chapter 63, verse 8, 9 says this.

Speaker A:

He said, surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me.

Speaker A:

And so he became their savior.

Speaker A:

In all their distress, he too was distressed.

Speaker A:

So I want to make sure you understand.

Speaker A:

We've talked about this before.

Speaker A:

You've heard some of my testimony.

Speaker A:

If you want to really get a better hand on my testimony, I'll shamelessly plug the broken for His Glory book which contains the testimony.

Speaker A:

But you can get it for free if you do it through Kindle.

Speaker A:

And then otherwise it's like seven bucks or something.

Speaker A:

That's not very much.

Speaker A:

It's kind of a fascinating journey on becoming saved and then going through bad churches or a bad church and then coming back into good church.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

That's not always easy to do.

Speaker A:

One of the big premises of the book and of my entire Christian journey is a passage like this which says.

Speaker A:

He said, surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me.

Speaker A:

And so he became their savior.

Speaker A:

And in all their distress, he too was distressed.

Speaker A:

I think it's important for you and I to understand the level to which God has put himself or placed Himself.

Speaker A:

He's not incomplete without us in the theological term, that God can exist completely independently and doesn't need us, but he bears with us or connects to us in such a way that he feels with us.

Speaker A:

And so I think it's important for you and I to grasp that when Paul was on the road to Damascus, and then the Lord appears to him, right?

Speaker A:

And we've talked about this before, you know, knocks him.

Speaker A:

You know, knocks him off his donkey and blinds him.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

Now you just have to imagine you're on a donkey.

Speaker A:

Bam.

Speaker A:

O.

Speaker A:

You're on the ground.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Not on a comfy table or a comfy chair or a comfy bed.

Speaker A:

On the ground.

Speaker A:

And you're blind.

Speaker A:

So this is a real wake up call.

Speaker A:

And then Jesus says to him, saul, before he becomes Paul, why are you persecuting me?

Speaker A:

And what does Paul say?

Speaker A:

Saul says.

Speaker A:

He says, who are you?

Speaker A:

Because this is like, this is Outer Limits stuff right here.

Speaker A:

And then Jesus goes, I'm Jesus, whom you're persecuting.

Speaker A:

But the irony behind that is that Jesus made the identification with the church because Saul was persecuting the church.

Speaker A:

But Jesus goes, I'm the one you're persecuting.

Speaker A:

Now, see?

Speaker A:

See how he connects himself to the people?

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.
