01-08-2025 part 1: Navigating Life's Storms: Finding Refuge in God's Mercy

This podcast episode features Dr. David Spoon as he explores the importance of recognizing God's sovereignty and power in our lives. He emphasizes that, like King David, we should sing praises to God, especially for His mercy and strength, even amidst trials and challenges. The discussion also highlights the contrast between those who growl and howl in dissatisfaction and those who find true contentment in their faith. Dr. Spoon encourages listeners to actively engage with their faith, share their testimonies, and acknowledge God's role as our defender and advocate. The episode concludes with a reflective trivia question about the book of Ecclesiastes, reminding us that there is indeed "no new thing under the sun," underscoring the timeless nature of God's truth.

The David Spoon Experience captivates its audience with a blend of humor, spirituality, and community engagement. Dr. David Spoon, the charismatic host, sets the stage by announcing a variety of segments designed to inspire and challenge listeners. From his daily devotional, known as Diamonds of the Day, to quirky news updates that underscore the imminent return of Jesus, Dr. Spoon artfully weaves together elements of faith and everyday life. He poses a reflective question about the Old Testament, prompting listeners to consider which books they feel drawn to study more deeply, thereby inviting their participation and fostering a communal dialogue around scripture.

Delving deeper into the episode, Dr. Spoon explores the themes of judgment and divine oversight as he examines Psalm 59. He articulates David's frustrations with his adversaries, drawing parallels to contemporary issues of pride and arrogance in society. This examination serves as a reminder that while human nature often leads to conflict, God's righteous judgment prevails. The host encourages his audience to trust in God's timing and authority, reinforcing the idea that worship and praise can provide solace and perspective in tumultuous times. By sharing personal anecdotes and practical applications of scripture, Dr. Spoon creates a relatable atmosphere that resonates with listeners, urging them to find comfort and strength in their faith.

As the show transitions into a trivia segment, the energy shifts to a more interactive and playful tone. Dr. Spoon engages listeners with a thought-provoking trivia question, inviting them to recall a well-known biblical phrase. This segment not only entertains but also serves to reinforce biblical literacy among his audience. Throughout the episode, Dr. Spoon emphasizes the importance of prayer, community support, and shared experiences in the Christian journey. By blending humor with serious reflections on faith, the show ultimately fosters a sense of belonging and encouragement, leaving listeners with a renewed sense of purpose and community.

Speaker B:

Hello, everybody.

Dr. David Spoon:

When it's cold outside, I've got one.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's what's coming up on today's experience.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's Dr.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DD DDDD's, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.

Dr. David Spoon:

But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh.

Dr. David Spoon:

In Ecclesiastes 3, 4, the review of the goofy news, which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think and all of us should be going, yay.

Dr. David Spoon:

Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use.

Dr. David Spoon:

Probably won't.

Dr. David Spoon:

If we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

Dr. David Spoon:

To that I reply, why not?

Dr. David Spoon:

Hmm.

Dr. David Spoon:

Also, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.

Dr. David Spoon:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, local, national and heavenly talk.

Dr. David Spoon:

My name is Dr.

Dr. David Spoon:

David Spoon.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yeah, that is a lot of those.

Dr. David Spoon:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here is the key to the show.

Dr. David Spoon:

We don't know what we're doing.

Dr. David Spoon:

We have no idea what's gonna happen and we don't care.

Dr. David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk truth with you.

Dr. David Spoon:

So here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

Dr. David Spoon:

Another one of those reflective questions coming up.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, boy, oh, boy.

Dr. David Spoon:

Get ready, get ready, get ready.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here it is.

Dr. David Spoon:

Be honest.

Dr. David Spoon:

What Old Testament book do we.

Dr. David Spoon:

You, me, all of us.

Dr. David Spoon:

What Old Testament book do we need to study or read more?

Dr. David Spoon:

What Old Testament book do we need to study?

Dr. David Spoon:

Which one is just on your heart?

Dr. David Spoon:

What Old Testament book do you need to read more?

Dr. David Spoon:

If you have a response to that question, or if you have an opinion, a comment, a thought, or a question, don't let it die of loneliness.

Dr. David Spoon:

How sad indeed.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just reach out and give us a holla.

Dr. David Spoon:

All you gotta do is give us a call.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's pretty easy.

Dr. David Spoon:

You just dial call.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

There you go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Talking to Jammin Jacob is the same feeling you get when you are Feeling confident.

Dr. David Spoon:

You have done your very best.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hello.

Speaker B:

Thank you, David.

Speaker B:

Happy Wednesday.

Dr. David Spoon:

Happy Wednesday to you, my friend.

Dr. David Spoon:

How are you doing today?

Speaker B:

It's going good so far.

Speaker B:

Chilly outside, but it's all right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Little chilly.

Dr. David Spoon:

Little chilly.

Dr. David Spoon:

We are going to have to give you a update on our schedule.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we don't own the station.

Dr. David Spoon:

Do we own the station?

Dr. David Spoon:

No, we don't.

Dr. David Spoon:

We don't own it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so Jennifer and Jacob and myself, we are kind of like at the behest of the owner, Don, who does a very, very good job, especially protecting his people.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will say this right now.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don has asked dust not to show up tomorrow.

Dr. David Spoon:

He would rather us be careful.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's not sure.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're not sure.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nobody's sure.

Dr. David Spoon:

People are thinking it's gonna snow nothing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Some people think it's gonna snow 2 inches.

Dr. David Spoon:

4, 6, 8, hike.

Dr. David Spoon:

One of those.

Dr. David Spoon:

Any of those.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so the show will not be live tomorrow.

Dr. David Spoon:

That doesn't mean I won't be talking between 1:30 and 3 or texting between 1:30 and 3.

Dr. David Spoon:

But it just, it just won't be live.

Dr. David Spoon:

I just want to let everybody know.

Dr. David Spoon:

I know, I know you're sad.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm sad.

Dr. David Spoon:

Are you sad?

Dr. David Spoon:

You said because it's a little boring, right?

Speaker B:

I'm very sad.

Speaker B:

I'm sad.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm sad.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, so we're just giving you an update on the schedule there.

Dr. David Spoon:

By the way, again, if you want to reach out to us, you know, you can do that by telephone.

Dr. David Spoon:

Additionally, you can send a text.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now why is it interesting or cool to text?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because you can then make your kind of comments known or whatever and then nobody will really say much, you know, I mean, it's kind of how it goes.

Dr. David Spoon:

But also I'll know and then I'll publicize it all over the Wall Street Journal.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm kidding.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you want to text at any point, you're welcome to do that.

Dr. David Spoon:

The text number is different than the phone call number.

Dr. David Spoon:

Understandeth.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the Ministry line.

Dr. David Spoon:

But during the show it's for texting.

Dr. David Spoon:

Additionally, if you wanna send an email, you are welcome to do that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sorry, what's our email?

Dr. David Spoon:

What is our email?

Dr. David Spoon:

Davidemustincrease.org it's sad that I can't remember my own email address that I've already given out on this show at least 4,000 times.

Dr. David Spoon:

Isn't that sad?

Dr. David Spoon:

It's a little sad.

Dr. David Spoon:

Anyhow, David, at hemustincreased.org is the email David, that's my name named at birth.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, I had nothing to do with it.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, it wasn't connected to a King David.

Dr. David Spoon:

He must Increase from John 3:30.

Dr. David Spoon:

He must increase imust decrease.org because we're a nonprofit entity who's taking it on the chin.

Dr. David Spoon:

Cause we don't get to do as many live shows in the last couple of weeks.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's just how it goes.

Dr. David Spoon:

So you can call us, you can text us, you can email us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why would you do that?

Dr. David Spoon:

Maybe you've got something that you want to share.

Dr. David Spoon:

The Lord has blessed you in, given you favor, granted you, given you a testimony, some awesome praise report.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you're just like, I got to share this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Never worry about sharing it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, there's no such thing as really sharing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, only God can take what's spoken or what shared and make it count.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not your anointing that does anything.

Dr. David Spoon:

My anointing or anybody else's, It's God's anointing.

Dr. David Spoon:

So if you got something to share, share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you've got a prayer request, let's do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's join together.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's be exactly how Jesus told us to be.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ according to Galatians 6:2.

Dr. David Spoon:

And one of the ways that we bear that as we pray together.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, I don't go to the same church.

Dr. David Spoon:

Is Jesus Christ your Lord?

Dr. David Spoon:

Is it your heavenly Father?

Dr. David Spoon:

When Jesus said, pray our Heavenly Father, are we blood relatives through the blood of Jesus Christ?

Dr. David Spoon:

Are we drinking of one Holy Spirit?

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the key.

Dr. David Spoon:

Unity is in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's why scripture says, keep the unity, don't find the unity.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so we encourage you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll pray, we'll pray together, we'll join, we'll weep with you, we'll cry with you.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what we do.

Dr. David Spoon:

Additionally, maybe you've got something you want to share, something that's on your heart, something that's on your mind.

Dr. David Spoon:

Share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're open to it.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will say for all the political struggle that everybody's been going through, the up and the down, and there's kind of different attitudes and ebbs and flows, I think by now most people can tell.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm just going to say this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Most people can tell that politics is not any different.

Dr. David Spoon:

Today than it was four weeks ago.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm just saying it's not any different than it was eight weeks ago.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're all the same politics, polymene ticks, blood sucking insects.

Dr. David Spoon:

I stand by it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Anyhow, the bottom line in that process is simply this reach out.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's engage.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's great.

Dr. David Spoon:

The one thing I do want to tell you or remind you, I have sent out 80% of the giving receipts, which is my way of saying they're not all out there yet, so relax.

Dr. David Spoon:

But I did get a lot done.

Dr. David Spoon:

I got up at 5:30 this morning.

Dr. David Spoon:

Noelle was up at 5.

Dr. David Spoon:

I got up just a little bit after her, actually I was up, I just didn't get up and going and sent out quite a few.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so if you get a receipt and it's not the right amount, don't freak out, just reach out, let me know.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll get it coordinated.

Dr. David Spoon:

Additionally, if you haven't received it yet, be patient.

Dr. David Spoon:

But it is good to double check your spam folder or your junk folder because we have found that over the years sometimes it ends up there and it's not a problem for me to resend it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, Just letting everybody know what's going on there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Time my friends, time to go into the word of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hallelujah.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't you love the word of God?

Dr. David Spoon:

It's so good.

Dr. David Spoon:

I had such a blessing happen to me today.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're probably sitting there thinking, you know, you seem like you're in a pretty decent mood.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, let me tell you what happened.

Dr. David Spoon:

I was head.

Dr. David Spoon:

So sometimes when I'm busy and I get a lot of things done, I have to pray on the way down which usually works out pretty good because it's about a 40 minute drive when I'm praying because I drive extra slow.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean I don't drive my normal speed racer thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

So I'm driving and it turns out that as I'm driving down today, you wouldn't believe it but they closed the freeway up by where I am, which is the first time that's happened.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I don't know what it was that took place.

Dr. David Spoon:

at the studio in February of:

Dr. David Spoon:

And so I'm just praying and driving, thinking, what do you want me to do?

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm just going to pray, I'm going to keep praying.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then I decide after I make a couple of turns to turn back on the GPS and it has me going through all these weird roads, and I get through all these weird roads, and I just keep praying the entire time.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just keeping my prayer, just kind of listening to the thing telling me to go here, go here, but keeping my focus on the Lord as much as I can, trying to be very, very careful.

Dr. David Spoon:

It ended up that I got here about 15 minutes later than normal, which was totally fine, and got a whole almost hour of prayer.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it was just phenomenal.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so I'm just, like, pumped.

Dr. David Spoon:

God took me.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's like, yeah, let's go on a journey.

Dr. David Spoon:

Like, okay, let's go.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I could have easily complained or done any of those things, but instead I was just like, you know what?

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm just going to use the time, but see what happens.

Dr. David Spoon:

We forget that God is the creator of time, that he can slow it down or speed it up.

Dr. David Spoon:

He can make one day seem like a thousand years or a thousand years like one day.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what's great about the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

Isn't it cool?

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's get into the book.

Dr. David Spoon:

And where we are is Psalm 59, starting with verse 12.

Dr. David Spoon:

I don't know if you remember from the one we did it last, but it's a very, very powerful teacher.

Dr. David Spoon:

It is.

Dr. David Spoon:

David is talking about these people that are a part of his life that are kind of, let's just say, not the greatest scenarios that he's dealing with in some of these people.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's really confident that God's going to bring judgment, righteous judgment on the wicked.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's not going to bring the judgment.

Dr. David Spoon:

David himself, but God is.

Dr. David Spoon:

God will take care of it.

Dr. David Spoon:

God knows how much each person, what each person does and what they deserve better than we do.

Dr. David Spoon:

Our attitude is, destroy them.

Dr. David Spoon:

The Lord knows what he's doing.

Dr. David Spoon:

But David says this.

Dr. David Spoon:

He says this in verse 12.

Dr. David Spoon:

For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lip, let them even be taken in their pride.

Dr. David Spoon:

And for the cursing and lying which they speak, consume them in wrath.

Dr. David Spoon:

Consume them that they may not be.

Dr. David Spoon:

And let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth.

Dr. David Spoon:

I love how he writes.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's so good.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we're picking it up, and David's pretty disgusted with his enemies.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just being honest.

Dr. David Spoon:

You've ever had encounter with certain people, you know, certain people, if you have a conflict, they're genuine.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're trying to work it out with you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Other people are like, yikes, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

That does happen.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so he's talking about these people.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're not the best people.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's asking for them to be brought down because of their pride.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're so arrogant.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're so like, meh, who cares?

Dr. David Spoon:

And David asks the Lord to let them know that God rules in Israel, God rules in Jacob, and that he also rules to the ends of the earth.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's David's way of saying this.

Dr. David Spoon:

And tell me if you can relate to this God, show them who's in charge.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then, David, I know you're in charge.

Dr. David Spoon:

I just want you to show them what I know.

Dr. David Spoon:

Show them that you rule the universe.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not a curse that he's praying.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's just praying.

Dr. David Spoon:

Show them, Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

Show them that you're it, that you're in charge, that it runs by you.

Dr. David Spoon:

All these things that mankind thinks that they do, all these great achievements that people think they do, either in corporate togetherness or in individuality.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's so funny because without breath, not one thing would ever be done.

Dr. David Spoon:

So everything that is done because breath is a gift from God.

Dr. David Spoon:

God is entitled to praise.

Dr. David Spoon:

People are like, well, no, not well.

Dr. David Spoon:

If God decided that's enough breath, my breath is off the earth, it's over.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's not how it's going to happen.

Dr. David Spoon:

But if that's what he decided over.

Dr. David Spoon:

So David's saying, show him who's in charge.

Dr. David Spoon:

Lord, you get into a court case, we had some testimonies that some things have been really going favorably for the people of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know, who's in charge.

Dr. David Spoon:

God, I hope we can get through this government.

Dr. David Spoon:

You mean you just want the Lord to show who's in charge?

Dr. David Spoon:

Just go with that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Try not to ask God to rain lead bullets.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just ask the Lord to show them who's in charge.

Dr. David Spoon:

Lord, I know you're in charge.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just show them.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then he goes on to say this.

Dr. David Spoon:

He says simply this at verse 14.

Dr. David Spoon:

And at evening they return.

Dr. David Spoon:

They growl like dogs and go all around the city.

Dr. David Spoon:

They wander up and down for food and howl as if they're not satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

It says, though David is comparing some of these people to, like, really disgusting animals.

Dr. David Spoon:

Like, you know, that kind of animal kind of thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're just thinking, wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

But here's what David says in verse 16, and if you miss this, you miss the import of the whole psalm.

Dr. David Spoon:

He says, they're growling like dogs.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're running around the city.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're wandering up and down for food.

Dr. David Spoon:

Verse 16.

Dr. David Spoon:

But I will sing of your power.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know, people that growl for food and they're wandering up and down, and they howl as if they're not satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the key.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're not satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

Guess what?

Dr. David Spoon:

When David wrote Psalm 23:1, he said, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

Dr. David Spoon:

But when the Lord is not a person's shepherd, they always want.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're never satisfied because they're not finding their satisfaction from their Creator.

Dr. David Spoon:

So David takes it to the other level.

Dr. David Spoon:

He goes, they're wandering up and down for food, and they howl as if they're not satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will sing of your power.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're never satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

Lord, I am.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're awesome.

Dr. David Spoon:

Your goodness extends way past me.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're so kind to me.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm fully.

Dr. David Spoon:

When I'm in you, Lord, it's all there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Have you ever noticed when you're really in the Lord, how nothing penetrates for those few moments?

Dr. David Spoon:

It's amazing.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's almost like a force field.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's almost like a shield around you that just like.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yep, yep, yep.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm in the wingspan of the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

Ain't nothing going to happen.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so while they're moving around and howling and they're not satisfied and they're dissatisfied, David's saying the exact opposite.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will sing of your power.

Dr. David Spoon:

What kind of power?

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, the power to resurrect the dead.

Dr. David Spoon:

The power to change lives.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, you know your circumstance.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's how long it takes for God to change it.

Dr. David Spoon:

That change, it's amazing because it's not even in the blink of an eye.

Dr. David Spoon:

But the scripture says, in the twinkle of an eye.

Dr. David Spoon:

I don't know if you know this or not, but a twinkle is 100 times faster than a blink.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's just pink.

Dr. David Spoon:

There, done.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's all it takes.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because it only takes a moment for a miracle.

Dr. David Spoon:

And our God is a miracle working.

Dr. David Spoon:

God, stop sitting there thinking your circumstance is so bad you can't get over it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Stop growling up and down for food and howling like you're not satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sing of the power of the most high God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hallelujah.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's so absolutely right.

Dr. David Spoon:

You just know it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Your spirit's going, yeah, that's right.

Dr. David Spoon:

That part of you right there that just heard that, that part of you where the Holy Spirit's touching your spirit, and your spirit's, like, going, yep, yep, that's right.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's my response to that.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, take a deep breath, because this psalm's not over.

Dr. David Spoon:

But in the meantime, we do have to move on into our trivia question.

Dr. David Spoon:

Get ready.

Dr. David Spoon:

In what book of the Bible?

Dr. David Spoon:

Which means I'm not giving you the book, because then you would know it.

Dr. David Spoon:

In what book of the Bible, specifically poetry, do you find the words, there is no new thing under the sun?

Dr. David Spoon:

Is that in Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon?

Dr. David Spoon:

Which of those five books do we find the phrase, there is no new thing under the sun?

Dr. David Spoon:

Yikes.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you think you know, you're welcome to reach out to us.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

You can also text.

Dr. David Spoon:

We can.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Or you can send an email.

Dr. David Spoon:

Davidemustincrease.org in what book of the Bible under poetry?

Dr. David Spoon:

And poetry is Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon.

Dr. David Spoon:

In which of those five books do you find the phrase, there is no new thing under the sun?

Dr. David Spoon:

Hmm.

Dr. David Spoon:

Reach out to us if you know.

Dr. David Spoon:

In the meantime, I'm gonna send you up to the website.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let me remind you, as we have already told you, that Don has asked us to not come in tomorrow so that everybody can be safe.

Dr. David Spoon:

I think he's doing it out of abundance of caution.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we just, you know, we appreciate that he's trying to protect all the people.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so because of that, we don't have a live show.

Dr. David Spoon:

Whenever I don't have a live show.

Dr. David Spoon:

Cha Ching is not a part of our vocabulary.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we're going to ask you to step up big time if you can.

Dr. David Spoon:

Giving is really helpful.

Dr. David Spoon:

Luke 6.

Dr. David Spoon:

38.

Dr. David Spoon:

Give and it will be given to you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.

Dr. David Spoon:

For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Who makes that commitment?

Dr. David Spoon:

God does.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the truth.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we ask you to check out the website.

Dr. David Spoon:

All the stuff on the website is free.

Dr. David Spoon:

There's nothing on there.

Dr. David Spoon:

And if you come across a book and you want it, tell us, we'll buy it for you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We don't care if it's one of mine.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're just being brave.

Dr. David Spoon:

But thank you.

Dr. David Spoon:

But in a nutshell, if you can give, great.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you can't, don't worry about it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just pray for us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Put us as a part of your prayer life.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay?

Dr. David Spoon:

Check it out on the website.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hemustincrease.org Prayer Request hemostincrease.org Praise Report hemosincrease.org Looking to give to this ministry.

Speaker D:

Hemosincrease.org Confused by what's happening right now.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hemustincrease.org hemustincrease.org Abominable.

Dr. David Spoon:

Can you believe that?

Dr. David Spoon:

Do I look abominable to you?

Dr. David Spoon:

Why can't they call me the Adorable Snowman or the Agreeable Snowman, for crying out loud?

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm a nice guy.

Dr. David Spoon:

I had nothing to say.

Dr. David Spoon:

Except for we might see a few of those coming up in the next day or so.

Dr. David Spoon:

Maybe we'll see.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm of the I'm of the opinion that it's kind of like everything's an alarm ish kind of thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Like everybody's on edge or so.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's like I would probably wake up tomorrow and be like, hey, it's 76 and sunny.

Speaker B:

Knowing Texas, that would not surprise me.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, come on.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, listen, I love it, first of all, you know, we've been out here over 70.

Dr. David Spoon:

I love it in Texas.

Dr. David Spoon:

Texas is phenomenal.

Dr. David Spoon:

So I wish I was here earlier.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's all I can say.

Dr. David Spoon:

But the weather is a little goofy.

Dr. David Spoon:

At least you get a variety.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, your trivia question.

Dr. David Spoon:

Which poetry book?

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's in chapter one of one of these five books.

Dr. David Spoon:

Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon.

Dr. David Spoon:

In one of those.

Dr. David Spoon:

In chapter one, it says, there is no new thing under the sun.

Dr. David Spoon:

Which book is that?

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Because this is the part I was really getting excited about.

Dr. David Spoon:

David says this after he talks about they wander up and down for food and howl as if they're not satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because they're not.

Dr. David Spoon:

But I will sing of your power.

Dr. David Spoon:

David says, yes, I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning.

Dr. David Spoon:

In the morning.

Dr. David Spoon:

What do you mean, in the morning?

Dr. David Spoon:

Wait.

Dr. David Spoon:

Get ready.

Dr. David Spoon:

Ready in the morning.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's going to actually start his day with the praises coming out of his mouth.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's going to actually do that.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm going to sing of your power I'm going to sing of your mercies in the morning.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's a brilliant idea for all Christians.

Dr. David Spoon:

We could actually start our mornings praising God for his mercy and his power.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't you think that will have an impact on the rest of the day?

Dr. David Spoon:

Of course it will.

Dr. David Spoon:

Of course it will.

Dr. David Spoon:

He says, I will sing of your power Yes, I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning, in the morning for you have been My defense, a refuge in my day of trouble.

Dr. David Spoon:

To you, O my strength, I will sing praises.

Dr. David Spoon:

Then he closes it with, for God is my defense, my God of mercy.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's just so good.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here it is.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's what I want you to get.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay?

Dr. David Spoon:

He's like, all right, David, future king.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's saying, you have been my defense, my refuge in trouble.

Dr. David Spoon:

So a refuge is like a lean to in the middle of a storm.

Dr. David Spoon:

We've talked about that before, and it's offering protection.

Dr. David Spoon:

Very cool, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

God being our defense reminds us that Jesus is our advocate.

Dr. David Spoon:

For those who don't know what an advocate is, it's a defense attorney, and there's no one better to defend you than Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, what a great attorney, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

But to close out the psalm, David says, o my strength, to you I will sing praises.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's actually calling God his strength.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's fine to ask God to give us strength, but sometimes we need to recognize he is our strength.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what we should be doing is saying, give us more of you.

Dr. David Spoon:

David says, I will sing praises.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's not complaining about the trials and the tragedies.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's ending this psalm by saying, you're my defense.

Dr. David Spoon:

My God of mercy.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dear Lord, God have mercy on me.

Dr. David Spoon:

But I will sing of you in the morning.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will sing of your praises.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will sing of your mercies.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will sing of your power, because that's what gets him going.

Dr. David Spoon:

And there are some times where by the time we get to the Lord, I want to say this is true for me, too.

Dr. David Spoon:

I don't want you to get the wrong idea.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's true for me, too.

Dr. David Spoon:

I get to the lord, I've done:

Dr. David Spoon:

I don't even have to start my day that way.

Dr. David Spoon:

I choose to do that which does not make it a brilliant choice.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we can choose to look at our trials and go, whoa.

Dr. David Spoon:

Or we can choose to look at things and go, hallelujah.

Dr. David Spoon:

I sing praises to my God, my God of mercy.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now, we only have one minute left, so I'm not going to be able to take the column.

Dr. David Spoon:

Have to give basically the trivia answer, though I suspect that many of you would know it.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we're going to have to wait and then take our break because we don't have time.

Dr. David Spoon:

So what we're going to do is I'm going to just remind you of the trivia question, give you the answer, and then we'll go from there.

Dr. David Spoon:

But the trivia question was, which of the poetry books was it?

Dr. David Spoon:

Job, Psalm, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes or Song of Solomon has this in the first chapter.

Dr. David Spoon:

There is no new thing under the sun.

Dr. David Spoon:

And the answer is Ecclesiastes.

Dr. David Spoon:

That is the answer.

Dr. David Spoon:

Ecclesiastes.

Dr. David Spoon:

No new thing under the sun.

Dr. David Spoon:

It wasn't like Solomon was in the best mood when he wrote that.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, we'll take our break and then we'll come back.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Dr. David Spoon:

Short break.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll be back.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker D:

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him, endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Speaker D:

Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Speaker D:

Do you know how you keep going?

Speaker D:

Do you know how you keep putting one foot in front of the other?

Speaker D:

Do you know how you don't give up?

Speaker D:

Do you know how you don't quit?

Speaker D:

Even though you want to quit?

Speaker D:

You fix your eyes on Jesus.

Speaker D:

You see, with God, when Peter went out of that boat and stepped on that water, there is no natural principle in the world, in any normal universe, that would allow Peter to walk on water.

Speaker D:

But he did one thing well.

Speaker D:

He looked at Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

And as he was looking at Jesus.

Speaker D:

The Bible says he walked on the water.

Speaker D:

He looked at his situation, just focusing at Jesus.

Speaker D:

Then he took his eyes off of Jesus and he saw the winds and the waves and he sank.

Speaker D:

He lost the correct attitude when he stopped seeing with Jesus in the picture.

Dr. David Spoon:

Whatever you see, whatever you face, whatever.

Speaker D:

You encounter, do not see it or face it in the natural.

Speaker D:

For we walk by faith and not by sight.

Speaker D:

So everything you see, you must insert.

Dr. David Spoon:

The picture of Jesus.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
