He emphasizes that many Christians often struggle with knowing how to pray, particularly during times of distress. As the discussion unfolds, Spoon shares personal anecdotes from his own spiritual journey, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in prayer. He reassures his audience that it’s okay to feel this way and points to Romans 8:26, which affirms that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. This divine support is not just a theological concept but a practical reality for believers, emphasizing the intimate relationship between the Spirit and the individual.

And now for something completely different.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.
David Spoon:It's totally terrific.
David Spoon:Totally transforming.
David Spoon:Hey, totally triumphant Tuesday as we find unity from the Father, through the Son and by the Spirit, all for the glory of God Almighty.
David Spoon:First, we're taking a deep dive into Romans chapter 8.
David Spoon:I'm just telling you right now, I'm loving it.
David Spoon:I'm loving this stuff.
David Spoon:Although this might stir a little controversy for some of my favorite people.
David Spoon:Romans chapter 8, verse 26 tells us the Holy Spirit helps us out when we're in distress.
David Spoon:We don't even know what we should pray for or how we should pray.
David Spoon:First and foremost, let's understand this truth.
David Spoon:We don't even know how to pray half the time.
David Spoon:That's why the Holy Spirit abides in us as a gift from God, so the right prayers can be impressed upon us.
David Spoon:We need God's help, even just in praying.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Next, the rest of verse 26, though, goes on to say, the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
David Spoon:Now, being connected to the Pentecostal and Charismatic movement as well as to the Baptist movement, it's really evident that there are some people that people think this has to do with speaking in tongues.
David Spoon:The Holy Spirit speaking in tongues or speaking in tongues for us.
David Spoon:It's like that is 100% incorrect.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that can't be expressed in words.
David Spoon:Tongues are by definition, words.
David Spoon:That just doesn't make sense.
David Spoon:Finally, then we find out the Holy Spirit is praying for us, pleads in our behalf, so we'll be in harmony with God's will.
David Spoon:You see, we can't do all the things we want to do without God's help.
David Spoon:I've had a very strong devotional Life.
David Spoon:It's almost 27 years now that I've not missed a single day spending an hour with God.

David Spoon:The only reason I'm there is because God has helped me to get there.
David Spoon:I can't do it on my own.
David Spoon:In everything I do, I need God's help.

Jammin Jacob:Thank you, David.
Jammin Jacob:Happy to Tuesday.
David Spoon:Happy Tuesday to you, my friend.
David Spoon:Any Reese's over the weekend?
David Spoon:Just thought I'd double check with you, see what you got.
David Spoon:Anything going on there?
Jammin Jacob:Not Reese's specifically, but yesterday I did have these Chips Ahoy cookies, but they were like half Chips Ahoy, half Reese's.
Jammin Jacob:Wow.
David Spoon:Okay, that's on my list now.
Jammin Jacob:That's so half Reese's.
David Spoon:Yeah, that's a good one.
David Spoon:I like that.
David Spoon:I'm already.
David Spoon:I'm already there.
David Spoon:What are they?
David Spoon:Chips Ahoy.
David Spoon:And they're like an orange thing or something.
David Spoon:Orange?
Jammin Jacob:Yeah.
Jammin Jacob:They're in, like, an orange Reese's package.
Jammin Jacob:Yeah.
David Spoon:Nowhere I'll be stopping on the way home.
David Spoon:Thank you very much.
David Spoon:Okay, so as you guys know, later on, we're going to cover Jake's take as we talk about a couple of football teams that we're still following.
David Spoon:Just had to do that twice.
David Spoon:But before we get there, let's just understand why you would reach out to us.
David Spoon:You can send an email, you can text, you can call.
David Spoon:And it could be for a prayer request, it could be for a praise report.
David Spoon:It could be something you just want to share.
David Spoon:If you think the show is really bad, instead of reaching out to us, you can just change the channel.
David Spoon:That's an easy way to do that.
David Spoon:I'm just letting you know.
David Spoon:Or you can reach out to us just to share something that's going on.
David Spoon:Maybe you have an answer to Bible trivia.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:Let's see.
David Spoon:Let's see if you can do it.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:Is the book of Third Chronicles in the Old Testament the New Testament or neither?
David Spoon:That's your trivia question.
David Spoon:Is the book of third Chronicles in the Old Testament the New Testament or neither?
David Spoon:If you think you know the answer.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email.
David Spoon:Davidemousincrease.org is the book of third Chronicles in the Old Testament the New Testament or neither?
David Spoon:That is the question that you are being asked.
David Spoon:I do want you to know that when I was sharing that thing about my devotions, I really was not trying to boast.
David Spoon:In fact, my biggest sadness about my devotional life is that I didn't do it my entire walk.
David Spoon:I kind of feel like I blew it.
David Spoon:But I'm thankful that God gave me the second half of my Christian journey to do better at that.
David Spoon:And he gave that to me as a gift.
David Spoon:And I needed it.
David Spoon:I still need it.
David Spoon:I need it each and every day.
David Spoon:This is probably the only thing that sets my mind.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:And we'll get into that when we do our DNA.
David Spoon:In the meantime, your trivia question is pretty straightforward.
David Spoon:We're not playing here, right?
David Spoon:This is straightforward.
David Spoon:Is the book of third Chronicles in the Old Testament the New Testament or neither?
David Spoon:That's the question.
David Spoon:If you think, you know, reach out to us.
David Spoon:We do have somebody that is on the phone.
David Spoon:They are ready to answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Let us then send them forward.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Caller David:David.
Sergio:Good afternoon, Sergio.
David Spoon:Hello, Sergio, my brother.
David Spoon:How are you?
Sergio:Good.
Sergio:Happy New Year.
David Spoon:Happy New Year to you, my friend.
David Spoon:Happy New Year to you.
David Spoon:And I want you to know before you answer, before you do anything else, I was rooting for the Cowboys all the way.
David Spoon:And the last play on that game, I just.
David Spoon:I just was so sad when they gave up that touchdown.
David Spoon:It hurt me deeply.
David Spoon:I just want you to know That I just want you to feel my pain as I sat there in thought.
David Spoon:No, I just want you to know I went through that.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right, my brother, let's set up on the trivia question.
David Spoon:You ready for this?
Sergio:Yeah.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Is the book of third Chronicles in the Old Testament, the New Testament, or neither?
Sergio:Well, I'm going to dig down into my BFF moments that I'm doing at home thanks to you, and I'm going to say neither.
David Spoon:You are correct, Amanda.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:There's a First Chronicles and a second Chronicles.
David Spoon:By the way, when you read that, keep in mind it's chronological stuff.
David Spoon:So not the most experienced, not the most like highlighting thing like a magazine.
David Spoon:But I'm just telling you that ahead of time.
David Spoon:But there is no third Chronicles.
David Spoon:There is in fact a third John, but there is nothing else like this.
David Spoon:You got one John, second John, third John, but nothing in the Chronicles.
David Spoon:Excellent job, my brother.
David Spoon:How art thou this year?
David Spoon:How are you doing?
Sergio:Good, good.
Sergio:So far so good.
Sergio:I just, you know, I just wanted to say, you know, just wanted to call in, tell everyone, you know, happy New Year.
Sergio:And I don't joke around on that BF fan.
Sergio:I know it's kind of jokes you, but I figured out that in my walk in my journey, it helps, you know, because you know, a lot of people, you know, they just, they just have the Bible there as a kind of like an ornament there at home.
Sergio:But I'm actually reading now and I'm really thankful for you for helping me do that.
David Spoon:You know, it's such a blessing to hear you say that.
David Spoon:You know, the Bible says in Psalm 19:7, the law of the Lord is perfect, able to restore the soul.
David Spoon:And it's amazing how sometimes you read the book and you'll be like going, whoa.
David Spoon:And your whole system just like gets this jolt of like, what?
David Spoon:And that's just the Holy Spirit connecting with you.
David Spoon:And this keeps it so alive.
David Spoon:It's very, very powerful.
David Spoon:It's a very big blessing for me to hear that.
David Spoon:And I'm super, super proud of you as a brother.
David Spoon:Just so you can know.
Sergio:Well, thank you so much for your Bible trivia.
Sergio:It actually helps.
Sergio:So I have one last dump and I'll hang up and listen.
Sergio:And it's, it's, you know, I kind of, I kind of light hearted on this.
David Spoon:Okay, gotcha.
Sergio:David, I know, I know that the sky is falling right now.
Sergio:Everyone's panicking here in Texas.
Sergio:But from your Michigan native.
Sergio:Detroit, Michigan native upbringing, what experience, what have you Experienced as the coldest in your past.
Sergio:And thank you for all you do.
Sergio:And have a good one.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Thank you, brother.
David Spoon:God bless you.
David Spoon:What a great question.
David Spoon:18 below.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:That's right, folks.
David Spoon:18 below.
Jammin Jacob:I can't even fathom.
David Spoon:And I'll tell you what happened on my bar mitzvah.
David Spoon:This is something people should do.
David Spoon:You can look this up.
David Spoon:1974.
David Spoon:1974 is when I was bar mitzvah.
David Spoon:There was.
David Spoon:I'm not.
David Spoon:You think I'm kidding?
David Spoon:I am not kidding you.
David Spoon:There was an ice storm before my bar mitzvah.
David Spoon:Like, there was an ice storm, like, Tuesday and Wednesday.
David Spoon:So Thursday.
David Spoon:My dad, who owned a building business, what he did, and this is my dad, you just have to understand, he goes.
David Spoon:He brought in construction machines into our neighborhood and carved a pathway out of the entire neighborhood.
David Spoon:I mean, the entire neighborhood, and made a pathway so everybody can get in and out so that people get there.
David Spoon:For my bar mitzvah then, because my dad was this kind of guy, he went and asked everybody to contribute, house by house, to the fact that he had done that, even though it really cost him nothing.
David Spoon:Yeah, that's how I grew up.
Jammin Jacob:So you said -18, right?
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:Wind chill and all.
David Spoon:It's like.
David Spoon:Yeah.
Jammin Jacob:And did you feel like you were living in Antarctica?
David Spoon:When you make a snow fort and the snow fort is warmer than everything that's going on around you?
David Spoon:That is when you know that is probably one of the most defining things to make a snow fort.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Stuart and I made a snow fort.
David Spoon:And you get in there, and you get in there and it's substantially warmer in the snow fort than it is outside.
David Spoon:That's all you gotta know.
David Spoon:That'll take you through it.
Jammin Jacob:I don't think I would want to go outside.
Jammin Jacob:I feel like I'd be afraid to step outside and turn into an ice cube.
David Spoon:Let me explain something to you.
David Spoon:Windchills.
David Spoon:For real.
David Spoon:I just want people to understand that and what's coming.
David Spoon:And this coming week, it's gonna be inconvenient.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:If you don't know how to drive in the snow and it snows, don't drive right.
David Spoon:Or make you do what you gotta do.
David Spoon:But it will also be really pretty.
David Spoon:Cause one of the coolest things about snow that people don't recognize, once it snows, everything looks white and it's amazing.
David Spoon:And then if the sun shines at all, which it might not, that reflection off that snow and the crystals in the snow, it's beautiful.
David Spoon:Guess what?
David Spoon:When you come before The Lord, he's going to robe you in white.
David Spoon:Isn't that cool?
David Spoon:It's like God is always testifying, isn't he?
David Spoon:He certainly is, isn't he?
David Spoon:He's phenomenal.
David Spoon:All right, let's do our DNA D and then we'll.
David Spoon:Since we did.
David Spoon:He did Good Job by Sergio.
David Spoon:Great question, by the way, Sergio.
David Spoon:And I'm just really believing God's going to bless you this year, my brother.
David Spoon:Let's do our DNA D stands for Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:This is a great time for you to make the decision that you are going to spend an extra five minutes with God every day.
David Spoon:Just a phenomenal time to go.
David Spoon:It's already New Year.
David Spoon:So what?
David Spoon:That's like people that say, I'm going to start a diet, but it's Thursday, so I'm going to start on Monday.
David Spoon:If you're going to start the diet, start it right there, right then, right now.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Don't wait.
David Spoon:Spend extra five minutes.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:It'll make your life better.
David Spoon:How should you spend it?
David Spoon:In prayer.
David Spoon:And in the book.
David Spoon:Your bfn.
David Spoon:What's that, Dave?
David Spoon:That's just what Sergio was talking about.
David Spoon:Your big fat nose.
David Spoon:I know it's terrible to say, but it's practical.
David Spoon:We need to be in it.
David Spoon:We need to be immersed in it.
David Spoon:That's why Jesus is called the Word of God.
David Spoon:Spend time in the Word.
David Spoon:Spend time in prayer.
David Spoon:Spend time in communion.
David Spoon:Not distracted.
David Spoon:But, Dave, I got to do this.
David Spoon:Do it after.
David Spoon:I got to think about this.
David Spoon:Think about it after.
David Spoon:I'm trying to keep my thoughts in line.
David Spoon:Keep praising, you will prevail.
David Spoon:If you keep praising, you keep pushing you, keep drawing near, you will prevail.
David Spoon:Want to know why?
David Spoon:Because James 4.
David Spoon:8 says, draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
David Spoon:That's why.
David Spoon:That's all you got to know.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:D N.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:I read in a newer translation, Luke 9.
David Spoon:26.
David Spoon:If anybody's ashamed of me or my words, I'll be ashamed of them when I come in.
David Spoon:The Father's the glory of the Father and with the angels.
David Spoon:It's just as simple as can be.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:Even if they threaten to throw you in jail because you created a meme.
David Spoon:I don't know what's going on in the uk, but it looks like they're becoming uck, which is not a good thing.
David Spoon:Supposed to be the United Kingdom.
David Spoon:They're becoming kind of weird.
David Spoon:Never Be ashamed of Jesus words.
David Spoon:No matter what happens D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready.
Jammin Jacob:To serve.
David Spoon:To serve.
David Spoon:Just ready.
David Spoon:Oh I was in oh so good.
David Spoon:I was in Mark and it's just like being ready.
David Spoon:Just all.
David Spoon:All in chapter 13.
David Spoon:Just be ready.
David Spoon:You gotta be ready.
David Spoon:You gotta be mindful.
David Spoon:Don't get so caught up in the things of the world.
David Spoon:Don't get so caught up in those things that are going around you.
David Spoon:There's a reason why Jesus said seek ye faith first.
David Spoon:The kingdom of God and everything else shall be added unto you.
David Spoon:Seek ye first.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:What does first mean?
David Spoon:First?
David Spoon:What's that?
David Spoon:Not second?
David Spoon:That's what it means.
David Spoon:Always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:Seeking him, being aware of him, being sensitive to him.
David Spoon:How do you know that the Lord might use you take 10 minutes from now to save somebody's life?
David Spoon:You don't know, but you can still be ready.
David Spoon:You can be aware.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or His words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:We'll take a short break, then come back.

David Spoon:Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?
David Spoon:And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
David Spoon:You can't say Christians can't judge, they're commanded to.
David Spoon:Here it is, right here.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Here's the bowling ball knocking down the pins.
David Spoon:Every day as Christians, we have to judge what is appropriate, proper, healthy and useful.
David Spoon:Also, what people, what people we believe we should hang out with, trust, believe in or let influence.
David Spoon:We have to judge that on a regular basis.
David Spoon:When you choose your church, you're using your judgment abilities.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:I love that.
David Spoon:Because listen, when you're choosing your church, you have to decide to pick one over another.
David Spoon:Here's the key.
David Spoon:You're gonna hate me.

David Spoon:So we're going to go right into prayer and pray for a few other things.
David Spoon:So take your faith and extend it with mine.
David Spoon:It only takes a mustard seed, which by the way, is a pretty pure seed.
David Spoon:A mustard seed.
David Spoon:Genuine faith doesn't take a lot of faith.
David Spoon:Just got to be real, genuine faith.
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:We thank you, we praise you, we worship you, we acknowledge you.
David Spoon:You are the king of all.
David Spoon:We just are so grateful that we can be a part of your family.
David Spoon:Thank you for that.
David Spoon:And Lord, we lift up the Far family to you.
David Spoon:And you know every nuance of what's going on and what we're praying for is your graciousness to fall on this family, your favor to fall on this family, your deliverance to fall on this family and your angels to protect them in the meantime.
David Spoon:And that, Lord God, they would be comforted by you, by your graciousness, by your kindness, by your goodness.
David Spoon:We lift them up before you and pray you would watch over them and protect them.
David Spoon:And we want to pray for other people going through different things.
David Spoon:We want to pray for Keith Oakley.
David Spoon:We want to pray for Joy, Ann and Cordelia as they're going through things, through Rosalind and Robert and the different things they're experiencing.
David Spoon:And everybody else, including Nancy and everybody else who's going through the mill, going through a lot of fighting and a lot of struggling and a lot of difficulties.
David Spoon:Lord, you know every person's name.
David Spoon:You know everything about every person.
David Spoon:And we are asking youg, Lord, you don't need their names, but yout want our faith.
David Spoon:Here's our faith.
David Spoon:God, do miracles in the lives of youf people.
David Spoon:Expand the kingdom in their lives.
David Spoon:Heal, hurting relationships.
David Spoon:Heal and break apart those people that are stuck in bondages and in fears.
David Spoon:And bring your kingdom to bear on these lives that they might know you better and praise you more.
David Spoon:Pour out your glory.
David Spoon:We can't do it, but you can.
David Spoon:Pour out your glory.
David Spoon:We pray in Jesus name.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:And amen.
David Spoon:Okay, there we go.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So I wanted to get that taken care of.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:We're going to open right into our next trivia question.
David Spoon:As soon as I can find my trivia question sheet, we'll do that.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:In Acts 12, where did Peter encounter an angel?
David Spoon:Was he by a tent door?
David Spoon:Was he in prison?
David Spoon:Was he near the city gate or at the temple?
David Spoon:Where did he first encounter an angel?
David Spoon:Acts 12, 6, 7, Acts 12, verses 6 through 7.

David Spoon:Eric said it was so funny.
David Spoon:Just gotta bear with me.
David Spoon:I'm gonna tell on Eric.
David Spoon:Eric is sharing that he was in really cold weather.
David Spoon:Listen to this.
David Spoon:He was in 27 degrees below zero, iced up on the planes and everything.
David Spoon:I just want to say this, brother, he's like, I didn't want to run you up on that one.
David Spoon:It's like, brother, you can run me up on that all day long.
David Spoon:27 below zero.
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:My answer, no, no, no.
David Spoon:Not doing that.
David Spoon:Nope, nope.
David Spoon:That's not happening anyway.
Jammin Jacob:All right, I'll say the same thing.
Jammin Jacob:If it was negative 27 outside, I would be huddled up with about 10 blankets, four layers of clothing, and just never go outside.
David Spoon:Oh, my gosh.
David Spoon:That reminds me of Parents used to.
David Spoon:I don't know if you guys.
David Spoon:Parents used to do this or not.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Just listen to this.
David Spoon:Our parents, they would cook potatoes.
David Spoon:You think I'm kidding?
David Spoon:And you would put them in your pockets.
David Spoon:And then you would put your.
David Spoon:Put your hands in your pockets and hold on to hot potatoes so you could walk while it was cold, so your fingers didn't freeze off and be numb.
David Spoon:I know poor Jacob's looking at me like, where is this stuff happening?
Jammin Jacob:I've never heard that before.
David Spoon:How many of you can remember that?
David Spoon:Yowza.
David Spoon:Yowza.
David Spoon:Okay, I'm just gonna leave that there.
David Spoon:All right, so we have our trivia question.
David Spoon:It's pretty straightforward.
David Spoon:Acts 12.
David Spoon:Where did Peter encounter an angel by a tent door?
David Spoon:In prison, near the city gate, or at the temple?
David Spoon:Your answer is in Acts 12.
David Spoon:6, 7.
David Spoon:We've got some serious teaching.
David Spoon:We're going to do our Jake's take, but I'm going to have to wait because I got to get into the teaching a little bit.
David Spoon:I do want you to catch this, and I don't want anybody.
David Spoon:Now, you guys should know I am Baptistal.
David Spoon:If you cannot figure that out, I can't help you.
David Spoon:By the way, 98% of Christianity is Baptistal.
David Spoon:They don't think certain things are happening, but they just think other things are happening.
David Spoon:God can do whatever he wants.
David Spoon:I had somebody who told me he's pretty much a sensationalist.
David Spoon:Unless God wants to do something.
David Spoon:It's like, okay, see, that's all everybody's saying.
David Spoon:Okay, but I want to pick this up on.
David Spoon:Verse 26 of Romans 8 says this.
David Spoon:And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress, for we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray.
David Spoon:I just have to say this.
David Spoon:It's just so important.
David Spoon:We tend to think we're really good at certain things.
David Spoon:Like, I think I'm pretty good at praying, and da, da, da, da.
David Spoon:And it's like, I got a message for you.
David Spoon:We're lousy at all of it because we're still fighting against the sinful nature.
David Spoon:Positionally crucified, but not fully eradicated.
David Spoon:How do you know that?
David Spoon:Because death still happens.
David Spoon:That's how you know.
David Spoon:That's just super easy.
David Spoon:And so here's what's amazing.
David Spoon:The Holy Spirit praying for us.
David Spoon:We don't even know how we're supposed to pray.
David Spoon:In fact, the Holy Spirit in our distress.
David Spoon:Tell me this hasn't happened to you.
David Spoon:Tell me you have not experienced this.
David Spoon:Sometimes you've gone through something in the Lord.
David Spoon:Wait, wait.
David Spoon:Just be honest.
David Spoon:And you look up and you might even shed a tear or two, and you go, what?
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:Or why?
David Spoon:Or whatever you say.
David Spoon:Just looking up to heaven like every other saint has all the way through.
David Spoon:And you're just like.
David Spoon:And that's all you can come up with on the inside of you.
David Spoon:Bleh.
David Spoon:And yet God is using all of that, connecting you to him with the Holy Spirit, so that your anguish is not yours alone.
David Spoon:Did you know that God shares that anguish with you?
David Spoon:Shares that anguish with you.
David Spoon:Isn't that amazing?
David Spoon:I'm so impressed sometimes with God.
David Spoon:It's like, really?
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:When you go through that thing and you think you're all alone, I'm telling you right now, there's a God is inside of you.
David Spoon:You are not alone.
David Spoon:Even Jesus said he wasn't alone when they left him alone.
David Spoon:Do you understand that?
David Spoon:We'll talk about that some other time on the Theology of It.
David Spoon:Here's the bottom element.
David Spoon:The Holy Spirit's inside of us to help us.
David Spoon:That's so important because we don't even know how we should pray.
David Spoon:And there's many times I've looked up to the sky and went, I got nothing.
David Spoon:That's just being honest.
David Spoon:But God doesn't leave us as orphans, does he?
David Spoon:All right, somebody is on the line to answer their trivia question.
David Spoon:So let's do this.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Caller JD Bic:Good afternoon, David.
Caller JD Bic:It's your bic, JD bicjd, My brother in Christ.
David Spoon:How are you, my brother?
Caller JD Bic:Doing well, doing well, thank you.
Caller JD Bic:I'm all excited about all this nice, cold weather.
Caller JD Bic:The coldest I've been in is minus 20.
David Spoon:Yeah, it's amazing, right?
David Spoon:And then you get into that place and you're like.
David Spoon:You're like, is that my skin?
David Spoon:No, that's not my skin.
David Spoon:Because now it feels like ice.
Caller JD Bic:Unfortunately, it was Minneapolis Right before Christmas.
Caller JD Bic:And I just made a delivery up there.
Caller JD Bic:I turned around and headed back to Texas the next day.
David Spoon:Oh, my.
Caller JD Bic:I didn't have to live in it.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:I just was like, oh, it's just like, brrr.
David Spoon:You just think about it.
David Spoon:It's like, ooh, that's cold.
David Spoon:That's cold, man.
David Spoon:That's some cold stuff right there.
David Spoon:All right, my brother, let me set you up on the question and then give you a chance to answer.
David Spoon:You ready for that?
David Spoon:You ready for the question?
Caller JD Bic:I am.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:In Acts chapter 12, where did Peter encounter the angel first?
David Spoon:By the tent door?
David Spoon:In prison, near the city gate, or at the temple?
David Spoon:Where did he first encounter that angel?
Caller JD Bic:Well, see, that's what I'm concerned about is the first, because I know that the angel appeared to Peter in prison, loosed his chains, opened the door and said, get up, let's go.
David Spoon:That is.
Caller JD Bic:Was that the first time?
David Spoon:That is correct, Amanda, sir.
Caller JD Bic:Okay.
David Spoon:And here's what I love about this.
David Spoon:Acts chapter 12 is one of my favorite texts to teach out of.
David Spoon:Cause it's a lot more fun than other texts in this context.
David Spoon:He's sleeping the night before he's being executed.
David Spoon:He's like, yeah, I'm going to bed.
David Spoon:Good night.
David Spoon:It's like, wait a minute, you're supposed to die the next day.
David Spoon:Yeah, I'm tired.
David Spoon:I'm going to bed.
David Spoon:Jesus napped on the boat.
David Spoon:I'm going to take a nap.
David Spoon:Goodbye.
Caller JD Bic:And I know what's going on.
Caller JD Bic:I know what's going to happen later.
Caller JD Bic:And I'm looking forward to it.
David Spoon:Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome job.
David Spoon:Great, great job, jd.
David Spoon:Excellent.
Caller JD Bic:Thank you, my brother.
David Spoon:Thank you, my brother.
David Spoon:My brother in Christ, My Bic.
David Spoon:I appreciate you deeply.
Caller JD Bic:Yes, sir.
David Spoon:All right.
Caller JD Bic:Okay, bye bye.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, we will take our break.
David Spoon:We could do a three hour show today.
David Spoon:We'll take our break and then we'll come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break, we'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
General Announcement:What is the David Spoon Experience for?
Theologian:This is the kind of high priest we need.
Theologian:Holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
Theologian:He doesn't need to offer sacrifices every day as high priests do, first for their own sins and then those of the people.
Theologian:He did this once for all when he offered himself.
Theologian:Now watch this.
David Spoon:Oh, boy.
Theologian:This is so unbelievable.
Theologian:Jesus is a unique kind of priest.
Theologian:He is your high priest.
Theologian:He is so unique.
David Spoon:And you think, why?
Theologian:What is it that makes Jesus unique?
Theologian:And you already know, well, it's because he's born from the Holy Spirit and he's born from Mary.
Theologian:So he's fully man, fully God.
David Spoon:And it's like, okay, I get that part.
Theologian:But there's something else that we miss quite often, and that is Jesus is undefiled, separated from sinners.
Theologian:And verse 27 says he doesn't need to offer sacrifices every day like the high priests do, first for their own sin.
Theologian:So let me explain this to you.
Theologian:When priests or petitioners or people are praying on your behalf, every human being has to deal with their own set of sins.
Theologian:It doesn't matter if it's the high priest of Israel.
Theologian:It doesn't matter if it's the high priest one year, 20 years later, 40 years later, there is something that takes place.
Theologian:It's the same dynamic that takes place when you spend time with the Lord and you come before the Lord and you thank him and you recognize the grace of God enables you to stand.
Theologian:Because apart from that, the grace, apart from the mercy, apart from the love that comes from the Lord in the redeeming work from Jesus Christ that you receive by faith, that he gives by grace, apart from that, you're a mess.
Theologian:And so when you come before the.
David Spoon:Lord, you're like, lord, please forgive me.
Theologian:Please don't be mad.
Theologian:Please don't chasten me.
Theologian:David said it great, don't chasten me in your hot displeasure.
Theologian:I don't want to get you irritated.
David Spoon:Nah, da, da, da.
Theologian:You see, when Jesus comes and petitions for us, he doesn't have to go through that.
Theologian:He doesn't have to be centered on himself to be forgiven, because there's nothing for him to be forgiven.
Theologian:He's sinless.
Theologian:He doesn't need to offer sacrifices for what he's done or for any of the lacking that he would have if he was a regular human priest.
Theologian:So when Jesus comes on our behalf, there's nothing.
David Spoon:Get this, get this, here it is.
David Spoon:There's nothing distracting him in his life.
David Spoon:He is only focused on our well being.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's Ka Amen 770, the Truth Station here in Texas, where this show is on fire today.
David Spoon:Anyway, here's your trivia question.
David Spoon:Your answer, by the way, is Exodus 15:4.
David Spoon:Just giving you a jump on it.
David Spoon:Exodus 15:4.
David Spoon:By the way, I will not be texting till later on today, I will text reply to everybody, but later on today, here is your trivia question.
David Spoon:Where did Pharaoh and his men drown?
David Spoon:Was it the Sea of Galilee, the River Nile, the Red Sea, or the river Jordan?
David Spoon:Where did Pharaoh and his men drown?
David Spoon:I want to give El props because his first response was in the water.
David Spoon:All right, you get a badge for that one.
David Spoon:That's a good one.
David Spoon:Where did Pharaoh and his men drown?
David Spoon:Sea of Galilee, River Nile, Red Sea, River Jordan.
David Spoon:Which of those four?
David Spoon:Exodus 15:4 is your opportunity to respond.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Additionally, you can send an email davidemustincrease.org so I am gonna send you up to the website before I do a reminder and you'll hear me say this every day for the next.
David Spoon:Whatever however long it takes.
David Spoon: doing the giving receipts for: David Spoon:They are in process.
David Spoon:You will get them.
David Spoon:I mean, if you haven't gotten them, that just means I'm not there yet.
David Spoon:Just everybody relax.
David Spoon:We're getting, combining all together, going through each thing, making sure it's as good as we can do and that if it's wrong, do not stress out.
David Spoon:It's a lot of work to do, a lot of furious work.
David Spoon:If it's wrong, we will make sure everything's corrected.
David Spoon:Everybody should have something by the 15th of January.
David Spoon:It gives you plenty of time to respond.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:In the meantime, I'll still send you to the website because we want to be able to write receipts for giving.
David Spoon:See, that's a good lead in right there.
David Spoon:I want the ability make me write twice as many more.
David Spoon:Please.
David Spoon:Please.
David Spoon:Okay, that's a great way to say that.
David Spoon:Please check it out on the website.
David Spoon:The giving is available.
David Spoon:You won't get a whistle, you won't get a donut, you won't get a car.
David Spoon:But you'll help us keep the ministry going.
David Spoon:Check it out on hemustincrease.org prayer request.
David Spoon:Hemosincrease.org praise report looking to give to this ministry confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:Hemustincrease.org hemustincrease.org As a duly designated representative of the city, I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension.
David Spoon:Yeah, that's what I said.
David Spoon:All right, we do have somebody ready to answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's go ahead and send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Caller David:This is the guy.
David Spoon:This is the guy.
David Spoon:I bet.
David Spoon:I was thinking you may want to called in yesterday, but I couldn't because I couldn't get down there because I was taking care of Noelle and the doggie.
David Spoon:How are you?
David Spoon:The guy.
Caller David:The guy's okay.
David Spoon:The guy is okay.
David Spoon:You ready to answer the trivia question?
Caller David:Hey, I'm gonna clarify you first.
Caller David:I think earlier you or trivia question was the third Chronicle.
Caller David:Actually, it is a part of Chronicle of Narnia.
David Spoon:Yes, that is a sidebar on that.
David Spoon:I could give you that one.
David Spoon:That's a good one.
David Spoon:Don't forget those.
David Spoon:Oh, yeah, yeah.
David Spoon:The Chronicles of Narnia.
David Spoon:Oh, yeah.
David Spoon:That's a good one.
David Spoon:Love it.
David Spoon:All right, brother, let me set you up on the trivia question.
David Spoon:Okay, you ready?
David Spoon:Yeah, that was a good one.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Where did Pharaoh and El's answer to this, right?
David Spoon:Where did Pharaoh and his men drowned?
David Spoon:And then he said in the water.
David Spoon:Sea of Galilee.
David Spoon:River Nile, Red Sea or River Jordan.
David Spoon:Which of those was it that the pharaoh and his men drowned in?
Caller David:Sea of Galilee doesn't count because it's was in the New Testament to getting into the promised land.
Caller David:And River Jordan is too small for a vast army.
Caller David:So I'll go with the Red Sea.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Amanda, you had an opportunity there to go.
David Spoon:And denial is not just a river.
David Spoon:Oh, you had that child.
David Spoon:You had that moment.
David Spoon:How art thou, brother?
Caller David:Oh, I'm okay.
Caller David:Yes.
David Spoon:Well, that's good.
David Spoon:Thank you.
Caller David:Thank you, everybody for praying for me on other day.
Caller David:And God really did a miracle for me on that day.
David Spoon:On Friday.
David Spoon:On Friday, when we prayed for you.
Caller David:I'm sorry.
David Spoon:We prayed for you on Friday.
David Spoon:So you got that?
David Spoon:You got that taken care of?
Caller David:That's correct.
David Spoon:Praise the Lord.
David Spoon:That's an answer to prayer.
David Spoon:Praise the Lord.
David Spoon:That's a direct answer to prayer.
David Spoon:That's awesome.
David Spoon:Awesome, awesome, awesome.
David Spoon:Super, super great.
David Spoon:We'll keep praying for you.
David Spoon:Everybody's going to keep praying for you.
David Spoon:This is the year, boy.
David Spoon:Get ready to receive.
David Spoon:People need to up their faith this year.
Caller David:Amen.
Caller David:Amen.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:Amen.
Caller David:I'll receive with both our hands.
David Spoon:Yes, Jesus, open your mouth wide and I will fill it.
Caller David:Amen.
David Spoon:Amen, brother.
Caller David:Thank you, brother.
David Spoon:All right, my brother.
David Spoon:God bless you.
Caller David:God bless you too.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:We're gonna do Jake's take.
David Spoon:We got a lot to do.
David Spoon:Got a lot to cover.
David Spoon:Let's do Jake's take right now, and without further ado.
David Spoon:And yes, I'm giving time to this Jake and Jake's take.
David Spoon:What do you got, my friend?
Jammin Jacob:So I don't want to harp on the Cowboys too much because it was just not a great season, but I'll just sum it up with this sound effect real quick.
Jammin Jacob:Came down to the last play.
Jammin Jacob:Last play was lost.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:But you are up 1 now because of that last play in the game.
David Spoon:I can't believe that.
David Spoon:You should have seen me screaming at the television.
David Spoon:I'm like, jake's now up one.
David Spoon:No way.
David Spoon:You know, it's gonna.
Jammin Jacob:You said you're.
Jammin Jacob:You're close to burning your cowboy shirt.
David Spoon:So disappointed.
David Spoon:I really thought they were gonna hold it.
David Spoon:I did think, oh, it's just so sad.
David Spoon:Anyway, but then.
David Spoon:But then there's this other team that I read something about today.
David Spoon:What's that team?
David Spoon:What's that team again?
David Spoon:That other team that's playing.
Jammin Jacob:Yes, David, your Detroit Lions had a great performance Sunday night beating the Minnesota Vik and getting the one seed going into the playoffs, which.
Jammin Jacob:That's the first time ever for the Detroit Lions.
David Spoon:First time ever.
David Spoon:And the first time ever was released today that Detroit is actually favored to win the Super Bowl.
David Spoon:We shall see.
Jammin Jacob:I don't like things that's exciting, but that could also be a jinx.
David Spoon:Correct.
David Spoon:That's why I don't like saying that.
David Spoon:But that's right.
David Spoon:So season's not over yet.
David Spoon:And by the way, isn't Texas still in the playoffs?
Jammin Jacob:Yes.
David Spoon:Yeah.
Jammin Jacob:Texas plays Friday up against Ohio State.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:And I don't care what happens as long as Ohio State doesn't win.
David Spoon:I don't care.
Jammin Jacob:As a Michigan fan.
David Spoon:Yeah, I figured that that's a requirement.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Good job on that one.
David Spoon:Thank you for clarifying.
David Spoon:That's Jake's take, everybody.
David Spoon:We'll give it a small hand clap.
David Spoon:Okay, great.
David Spoon:Don't forget, we don't know what's going on with the weather.
David Spoon:So on Thursday and Friday.
David Spoon:I already put this up on the website.
David Spoon:I have no idea.
David Spoon:The Lord hath not told me, but we're supposed to be ready, so we're be ready.
David Spoon:Go back to the text.
David Spoon:And I want to make sure you get this point because I don't want to miss this point.
David Spoon:It drives me nuts when I can't communicate everything in the text that I want to.
David Spoon:Verse 26.
David Spoon:The Holy Spirit helps us in our distress where we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray.
David Spoon:I think it's worthwhile to acknowledge.
David Spoon:It's worthwhile to acknowledge that sometimes I don't know how to pray.
David Spoon:Sometimes you don't know how to pray.
David Spoon:Sometimes all of us don't know how to pray.
David Spoon:And the Holy Spirit's inside helping us.
David Spoon:And so what's important is that's why the Holy Spirit being inside us is such a gift.
David Spoon:That's why the Bible says, quench not this first.
David Spoon:Thessalonians 5, 19.
David Spoon:Do not quench the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:Ephesians 4, 30.
David Spoon:Do not grieve, which is to make sad the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:Why the Holy Spirit's inside of you, operating so you can do this thing right.
David Spoon:He came to you through.
David Spoon:Through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:And Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit to do his ministry in his stead while he's at the right hand of the Father.
David Spoon:That's like those verses, I'd be praying for you now from the Pentecostal side.
David Spoon:And I've been down this road, and there's no point in getting mad at me.
David Spoon:If you're Pentecostal, you know I love you.
David Spoon:But it says, the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that could not be expressed in words.
David Spoon:Tongues specifically are words.
David Spoon:So this has nothing to do with tongues.
David Spoon:This has to do with that inner in you that can't be expressed in words.
David Spoon:And sometimes when you're all like, what's the word I'm looking for?
David Spoon:Sometimes when you feel like your insides are kefilta fish, that's the Holy Spirit praying for you.
David Spoon:I know you're thinking, wow, does that have to do with any.
David Spoon:Because kefiltovish is like this little ball of fish.
David Spoon:It's like.
David Spoon:And you don't even know what to say or how to say it.
David Spoon:That's good time right there.
David Spoon:But the Holy Spirit knows what to communicate with the Father.
David Spoon:In the name of the Son.
David Spoon:Let's see how that works.
David Spoon:And so we need to be aware of that, tuned into that.
David Spoon:Don't have to be offended by it.
David Spoon:Nobody in this radio station is at, Ooh, bad, bad gifts.
David Spoon:Ooh, bad.
David Spoon:Guess what He.
David Spoon:No, we're just defining.
David Spoon:Theology is theology.
David Spoon:You don't add something into the word when it's not there.
David Spoon:The Holy Spirit prays for all of us, every one of us, with words that cannot be expressed, period.
David Spoon:Not words that cannot be understood.
David Spoon:Words that cannot be expressed.
David Spoon:Substantial difference.
David Spoon:Correct?
David Spoon:Correct.
David Spoon:And when we return, we get to look at this next little thing, which is just as cool as the thing we just Covered.
David Spoon:So hold on.
David Spoon:We've got just a little bit more to go.
David Spoon:We'll take our break here.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Station Announcer:Hey there.
Jennifer:It's amazing Jennifer.
Jennifer:And I am helping out the David Spoon Experience.
Jennifer:As you may know, I basically run the KAAMRA radio station.
David Spoon:Amazing.
Jennifer:And Dr.
Jennifer:Dave is looking for a few good people to join and become representatives, ambassadors, and stewards of this here radio ministry.
Jennifer:Now, you may be thinking, well, I'd love to get involved, but I'm not very qualified for ministerial positions.
Jennifer:Well, the truth is that because you are a child of our Heavenly Father that you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and you seek to live by the power of the Holy Spirit, you have all you need to be a part of this ministry.
Jennifer:But, Jennifer, don't I need to be perfect?
Station Announcer:No.
Jennifer:Just go to hemustincrease.org, that's hemustincreased.org, click on the three lines at the top right of the website, and then click on the Ambassador's Initiative link.
Jennifer:Just fill out the form and we will reach out to you.
Jennifer:But sorry, no parking tickets will be paid for you as an ambassador through this position.
Jennifer:You are on your own with that.
General Announcement:What is the David spoon experience?
David Spoon:First Corinthians, chapter 11, verse 1.
David Spoon:Paul said, Follow me as I follow Christ.
David Spoon:What happens when he stops following Christ?
David Spoon:You stop following him.
David Spoon:And what about Second Corinthians 2:14?
Theologian:Not that we rule over your faith.
David Spoon:Paul said, what?
David Spoon:Not that we rule over your faith.
David Spoon:So this whole notion that there is this authority structure and that people have to obey because if they do not.
Theologian:Obey in every nuance, they are going.
David Spoon:To be zapped or whatever.
Theologian:Ours was better.
David Spoon:You know what our story was?
Theologian:Ken told the story about past congregations.
David Spoon:He had, about people who disobeyed him and spoke evil about them and how God killed them.
David Spoon:That's what he told us.
David Spoon:In fact, it was true that somebody out of the 110 people out of his three previous churches.
David Spoon:We'll just leave that there.
David Spoon:One person did die.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:One out of 110.
David Spoon:They picked up a hitchhiker on their way to Flagstaff, Arizona.
David Spoon:Hey, I pastored in Flagstaff.
David Spoon:And the hitchhiker ended up killing the guy because the guy was a mental case.
David Spoon:But Ken used that after his church was closed 15 years later, saying, see what?
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:But we were too dumb to know.
David Spoon:So now you have the same guy that told us how to attack a Christian leader telling us we can no longer attack Christian leaders unless he, the anointed of God, gives us permission.
Theologian:He's in charge, and we can't challenge.
David Spoon:Him or question him.
David Spoon:And, oh, by the way, if we.
Theologian:Talk about the anointed or touch the.
David Spoon:Prophets of God, God will kill us.
David Spoon:And he's him.
David Spoon:So he's the one of the anointed, so we can't touch him.
David Spoon:Even though none of that is scriptural, none of that is right, and all of that is whack a doodle.
David Spoon:Welcome back to that David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAAMC, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's Ka, Amen 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:We have one last trivia question.
David Spoon:We got to be kind of quick on this.
David Spoon:It's only one of three answers.
David Spoon: the New Testament, Revelation: David Spoon:A bottomless pit and unpearly gates, or a lake of fire and brimstone.
David Spoon:A bottomless pit, the unpearly gates, or a lake of fire and Brimstone.
David Spoon:Revelation, chapter 20, verse 10.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: rg so according to Revelation: David Spoon:A bottomless pit, the unpearly gates, or a lake of fire and brimstone.
David Spoon:So two things we're gonna do on this.
David Spoon:Number one, we're gonna do quick history.
David Spoon:Number two, instead of carrying on the teaching, I'm gonna answer a question that Jeanette asked that I think is a really good question and fits right in with what we're doing.
David Spoon:So first and foremost, we're gonna do history.
David Spoon:Let's do history.
David Spoon:Let's go.
David Spoon:Let it in the past.
David Spoon:Let's go.
David Spoon:I mean, I mean, I mean, really, how fast was this show?
David Spoon:This is like, one of the fastest shows, like, over.
David Spoon:All right, here you go.
David Spoon:Today is Harlem Globetrotters Day.
David Spoon:And the reason I think that's cool is because I actually knew Meadowlark Lemon.
David Spoon:Spent some time with him, had him speak at the church.
David Spoon:We kind of hung out together.
David Spoon:Great, great, great guy.
David Spoon:And actually his son is a Great, great.
David Spoon:Was a great guy.
David Spoon:And he passed on, but he was a great guy.
David Spoon:It's also National Bobblehead Day.
David Spoon:I got nothing.
David Spoon:I don't have a bobblehead.
David Spoon:So I don't know.
David Spoon:I don't know how to respond to that directly.
David Spoon:I'm not sure what to say.
David Spoon:It's also National Tempura Day and Noel loves tempura, just in case you're wondering.
David Spoon:I'm just telling you the other really important things about today for those that do not know.
David Spoon:1929, on this day was the introduction of Buck Rogers.
David Spoon:Look at that.
David Spoon:95, 90.
David Spoon:Was it?
David Spoon:So it was 29, 27, 6.
David Spoon:2596 years ago, right?
David Spoon:Or 94 years ago.
David Spoon:I can't really figure out.
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:94 years, Buck Rogers was introduced the American Radioactive Gas Corporation.
David Spoon:This is incredible.
David Spoon:It's just weird.
David Spoon: animation and he wakes up in: David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:And then finally, on this day in 19.
David Spoon:That's a good one, Ron.
David Spoon:You like that one?
Jammin Jacob:Poor cowboys.
David Spoon:1929, Tarzan.
David Spoon:Same year, same day came out.
David Spoon:So Tarzan and Buck Rogers.
David Spoon:Could you get any further apart?
David Spoon:I submit to you, you cannot.
David Spoon:Okay, all right, your trivia question then I'm gonna answer this final bit.
David Spoon:And I only got a little bit of time.
David Spoon:According to the New Testament, and that's Revelation 20, verse 10, what is the final place for Satan?
David Spoon:A bottomless pit, an unpearly gates, or a lake of fire and brimstone?
David Spoon:So Jeanette asked a very good question.
David Spoon:She says, can you talk just a little bit about what it is to grieve the Holy Spirit?
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:Because that's actually a really.
David Spoon:It's a really pointed question.
David Spoon:Like what quenches or grieves the Holy Spirit?
David Spoon:So the difference between quenching and grieving is very important.
David Spoon:Quenching means that you close the pipe.
David Spoon:In other words, there's a flow between you and God.
David Spoon:It's a pipe.
David Spoon:And when you quench, you close that pipe tighter and tighter.
David Spoon:When you grieve the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:That word in the Greek means to make sad.
David Spoon:It almost means to bring to tears.
David Spoon:So the quenching is when you're living your life.
David Spoon:And there's little room, by the way, quenching leads to grieving.
David Spoon:But I don't want to cover that right now.
David Spoon:The quenching is when you're leaving little room for the Holy Spirit to operate through you, in you, by you, teach you, guide you direct.
David Spoon:You remember, his ministry is to bring to light the ministry of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:When you don't allow that, you're closing off the pipeline.
David Spoon:When you and I make the Holy Spirit sad to the point of weeping, that's when we get stuck in our besetting sin.
David Spoon:We fall into a different realm of things and of thinking and of processing and feeling.
David Spoon:More along the lines of the old man.
David Spoon:It's all the things that we connect to Adam and Eve with in the garden.
David Spoon:That's what makes the Holy Spirit sad, what grieves the Holy Spirit is these things that we do that make us like we're Adam in the garden.
David Spoon:Get that?
David Spoon:What quenches the Holy Spirit are when we let our minds drift away from what the fruit of the Spirit's supposed to be.
David Spoon:We don't set our minds on the right things.
David Spoon:We don't think about it the right way.
David Spoon:That's not always the old man.
David Spoon:Sometimes that's just being separated from God.
David Spoon:When we're being impatient, that grieves.
David Spoon:When we sin against the Lord.
David Spoon:Sorry.
David Spoon:When we're impatient, that quenches.
David Spoon:Sorry.
David Spoon:Sorry, I messed that up.
David Spoon:When we were impatient, it quenches.
David Spoon:When we sin, it grieves.
David Spoon:Do you see that?
David Spoon:When you sin, you.
David Spoon:You grieve the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:You make the Holy Spirit sad.
David Spoon:When you're impatient, you're just quenching.
David Spoon:You're closing that down.
David Spoon:Both are terrible, but one is worse.
David Spoon:In case you're wondering, and it's a fact, one is worse.
David Spoon:So instead of feeling guilty about that or operating in that way, just say, lord, help me to not quench or grieve your spirit in Jesus name.
David Spoon:Pray that prayer.
David Spoon:You think God will answer it?
David Spoon:You bet he will.
David Spoon:All right, according to the New Testament, what is Satan's final place?
David Spoon:Bottomless pit?
David Spoon:The UN Pearly gates?
David Spoon:Or a lake of fire and brimstone?
David Spoon:And the answer is a lake of fire and brimstone, which also qualifies, as Al pointed out, as hell.
David Spoon:That is exactly right.
David Spoon:And technically, theologically, hell is eternal separation from God.
David Spoon:Think about that.
David Spoon:All right, folks, you have been listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:22 and a half hour break, then we'll come back.
David Spoon:More Insanity with Spoonanity.
David Spoon:Talk to you then.
