The David Spoon Experience 3-5-24 part 1
A) As a precursor to one of the most significant moments in human history, Jesus assures his disciples that some of them will not die before they witness the Son of Man coming into his kingdom. This does not imply that the disciples will live until the return of Jesus Christ. The kingdom is both now and in the future. These disciples will witness a manifestation of the Kingdom of God in less than a week.
B) Matthew Chapter 17 takes us to a place in scripture that has never been fully understood. After Jesus proclaims that some of the disciples present will not die until they witness the manifestation of the kingdom, his words come to pass six days later. We now ascend to the Mount of Transfiguration.
C) It may be helpful to understand that Peter, James, and John are accompanying Jesus up a high mountain. The four of them are together. If we take a moment to understand that they are unaware of what they’re about to encounter, but they’re going there with Jesus, it provides a great illustration of how the Lord works in our personal lives. The journey up the mountain, which is usually challenging, becomes an important truth about encountering something beyond our understanding with Jesus.
