The David Spoon Experience 3-21-23 Part 2
1) We’re going to utilize some Tuesday time and dive back into the book of Galatians. I’ve been getting the sense that the Lord wants us to focus in on being more connected to Him, more intimate, and not just going through the motions. This letter to the Galatians will help us accomplish that. Just by way of set up. Galatians was written by the Apostle Paul. A decent date is 54-ish AD. That’s about 20 years after Paul’s conversion.
2) It is critical to understand the purpose of this writing. This is pretty straight forward. Justification is by faith alone. Salvation is a gift from God. What we have started off with by faith, and through the Holy Spirit, cannot now be accomplished by our own efforts, or by the works of the law. This became a significant argument in the early church, and it remains so even today. But believing that we initiate or finalize our salvation is to deny that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith and our salvation (Hebrews 12:2). That’s dangerous thinking.
3) Paul states, “My call is from Jesus Christ.” And so is yours. Why that’s critical to understand is that the origins of our faith and ministries are in partnership with Jesus Christ. We are not under the subjection of what other people think. While there’s wisdom in the multitude of counselors, that only applies if the counselors hold wisdom that is biblical, and they are connected to Jesus.
