The David Spoon Experience 3-17-23 Part 1
FOUR-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW!
A) We return to Abraham in the Hall of Fame of faith and discover that faith is a part of God’s testing process. Abraham’s faith was tested by God so that Abraham could see the level of his faith. The amazing part of this story is how far Abraham had to go to see it. He had to give up not only his very offspring but the actual promise of God as he understood it. It wasn’t that the Lord would be unfaithful to His promise. It just wasn’t going to come about the way that Abraham thought.
B) Once again, we understand the illustration and the application of the Old Testament experience through the New Testament Scriptures. Abraham considered God able to raise the dead. He believed that God could raise a dead body. He believed in a resurrection, and he actually received a resurrection in a certain sense.
C) To be honest, Isaac doesn’t get much in the Hall of Fame of faith. Other than he prayed for blessings in regard to the future.
D) On the other hand, Jacob gave his blessings as he was dying, which meant that, as he was coming face to face with his mortality, he still operated in the power of faith. Not only did he know the future, but he gave instructions for how his bones should be handled when they come into that future.
