Join the Vineyard: The Inclusive Call of the Kingdom

Dr. David Spoon presents a compelling discussion on the nuances of faith, hope, and the importance of sharing personal experiences in his latest podcast episode. He skillfully navigates the parable of the vineyard workers, a narrative that illustrates God's persistent call to humanity, inviting everyone to partake in His work regardless of when they come to the table. By highlighting the vineyard owner's ongoing search for laborers throughout the day, Spoon emphasizes the inclusive nature of God's grace, assuring listeners that it's never too late to respond to His invitation.

In addressing the challenges many Christians face in evangelizing, Spoon breaks down the misconceptions surrounding the need for perfect delivery or extensive theological knowledge. He reassures his audience that the effectiveness of sharing the gospel lies not in eloquence but in authenticity. Personal testimonies—simple recounts of God's goodness and grace—can be the most powerful tools in bringing others to faith. Throughout the episode, he encourages listeners to be bold in sharing their stories, reminding them that the Holy Spirit guides this process and that God ultimately orchestrates the outcome.

The episode is rich with humor and relatable anecdotes, making complex theological ideas accessible to all. Spoon’s charismatic style invites engagement, and he provides avenues for listeners to interact, whether through trivia questions or by sharing their own experiences. The podcast culminates with a prayer of gratitude, encapsulating the essence of the discussion: a heartfelt call to remain hopeful, persistent in prayer, and open to the possibilities of redemption for ourselves and those around us. This episode serves as both an uplifting listen and a practical guide for anyone looking to deepen their faith and share it with others.

Takeaways:

  • The parable of the vineyard workers illustrates the inclusivity of God's kingdom, emphasizing that all are welcome regardless of when they come to faith.
  • Prayer is essential for change and should be the first response to problems in society and personal lives.
  • Sharing the gospel does not require perfect communication; simply sharing personal experiences can be powerful.
  • People can come to Christ at different times in their lives, and it's never too late to accept the invitation.
  • The importance of being available and open to sharing your faith cannot be overstated; God uses ordinary people to reach others.
  • Believers should continue to pray for those who have said no to the gospel, as God's invitation remains open until the end.

We don't know what we're doing.

Dr. David Spoon:

We have no idea what's going to happen and we don't care.

Dr. David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I want to talk hope with you.

Dr. David Spoon:

So here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

Dr. David Spoon:

That thingy right there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's your simple question.

Dr. David Spoon:

You should be able to answer this quite easily.

Dr. David Spoon:

What is your favorite general epistle?

Dr. David Spoon:

Not Paulinian, but General epistle.

Dr. David Spoon:

Picking it up from Hebrews.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then you go forward for James and Peter, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

And you got one John, second John, you got third John, you got two.

Dr. David Spoon:

What is your favorite general epistle?

Dr. David Spoon:

What do you like out of the back part of the Bible?

Dr. David Spoon:

What's your favorite letter there?

Dr. David Spoon:

If you have an answer, all you gotta do is reach out to us, by the way.

Dr. David Spoon:

But you can also have an opinion on something that's cool and a comment on something.

Dr. David Spoon:

A lot of comments going on lately.

Dr. David Spoon:

Thought or even another question.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, just reach out to us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Give us a call.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Talking to Jem and Jacob is like talking to a person that you can count on.

Dr. David Spoon:

Thank you, David.

Dr. David Spoon:

Happy Tuesday.

Dr. David Spoon:

Happy Tuesday to you, my friend.

Dr. David Spoon:

Thank you for helping me do the audiobook portion.

Dr. David Spoon:

We are actually 21% done already, which is significantly faster than last time.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yes, yes.

Dr. David Spoon:

Last time, at this point, we'd be at about 3%.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yeah, yeah.

Dr. David Spoon:

A lot better than the last time.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Anyway, I do want to say thank you for your work.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's great to have that be happening.

Dr. David Spoon:

Additionally, I want people to be aware.

Dr. David Spoon:

You should have some kind of answer.

Dr. David Spoon:

People are like general Epistle.

Dr. David Spoon:

What's that?

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, that's Hebrews, James, first Peter, second Peter, first John, second John, third John, or Jude out of those epistles.

Dr. David Spoon:

And no, an epistle is not the wife of an apostle.

Dr. David Spoon:

Which one is your favorite?

Dr. David Spoon:

So it's pretty, pretty straightforward.

Dr. David Spoon:

Do you like Jude?

Dr. David Spoon:

Do you like any of the first, second, or third John?

Dr. David Spoon:

Do you like first or second Peter?

Dr. David Spoon:

Do you like James?

Dr. David Spoon:

Do you like Hebrews?

Dr. David Spoon:

Which one?

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, okay, okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, all right, all right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Bottom line, you can reach out to us and you can call us.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Also.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Just a little easier for those who need it a little slower.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Now for those who need it really fast.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Also, you can send an email david@hemustincrease.org d a v I d david must increase.org why would you call us, text us, or email us?

Dr. David Spoon:

That's pretty simple.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you've got a praise report or an answer to that question, what's your favorite general epistle or something else.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you got a praise report, hey, call us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you text it, come on, reach out to us and let us know so that we can know the things that God is doing in other people's lives, which encourages us to know that the Lord is active.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now, I know what day it is.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll get to that in a little bit.

Dr. David Spoon:

But let's get on the target.

Dr. David Spoon:

First and foremost, Isaiah 43:7.

Dr. David Spoon:

We were created for the glory of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

What has the Lord done in your life?

Dr. David Spoon:

And has that praise or acknowledgement been given unto him?

Dr. David Spoon:

Reach out to us.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you got one of Those.

Dr. David Spoon:

Or if you've got a prayer request, you got something going on and it's just a little heavy.

Dr. David Spoon:

Or maybe it's going well and you want it to keep going well.

Dr. David Spoon:

Or maybe you don't know where to get started with it and you need wisdom in it.

Dr. David Spoon:

You just need that insight.

Dr. David Spoon:

Awesome sauce.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's ask the Lord to help.

Dr. David Spoon:

For all those people who are remembering that it is a time to vote, any politician that says prayer isn't enough is an idiot.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dave, you can't call them idiots.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's evil speaking.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not evil speaking if it's true.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's number one.

Dr. David Spoon:

And number two, they're idiots.

Dr. David Spoon:

The bottom line is prayer changes the universe.

Dr. David Spoon:

You want to get into a real solution?

Dr. David Spoon:

How about the people in America get on their hands and knees and ask God for forgiveness and let real redemption, real restoration, real deliverance and real revival come to the United States of America.

Dr. David Spoon:

That would be phenomenal.

Dr. David Spoon:

But in the meantime, if you got something you're dealing with, hey, let's pray.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because it doesn't matter whether God saves by many or by few.

Dr. David Spoon:

The answer is he saves.

Dr. David Spoon:

So if you got a prayer request, bring it.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you got something you want to share, something that's on your mind, a scripture that's going on.

Dr. David Spoon:

Awesome.

Dr. David Spoon:

One of the things that I noticed today in the air, so to speak, in the ether, is that there seems to be a little bit of a break.

Dr. David Spoon:

And maybe that's just because all these things we know are coming to a close at some point.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's the only thing I want to tell you about the election.

Dr. David Spoon:

The votes are in and God voted for you because he chose you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Congratulations on your win.

Dr. David Spoon:

Isn't that awesome?

Dr. David Spoon:

I think it's awesome.

Dr. David Spoon:

Anyway, bottom line to the process, reach out to us if you want to.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're more than welcome to your favorite epistle.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will be honest in this beginning process.

Dr. David Spoon:

My favorite between Hebrews, James, first Peter, two Peter, first John, second John, three John and Jude.

Dr. David Spoon:

My favorite is Hebrew.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, not just because that's how Jesus has coffee.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hebrews.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, it's just my favorite.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the bottom line to that, going right into our teachings.

Dr. David Spoon:

Today we are in Matthew, chapter Matthew, chapter 20.

Dr. David Spoon:

We've actually made quite a bit of progress.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm actually pretty happy about this.

Dr. David Spoon:

In Matthew chapter 20, we are now talking about the parable of the vineyard workers.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we're going to pick it up and look at some of these things.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what's fascinating about this, I just want to say this is the parable of the vineyard workers, in case you're wondering, is all about people who are already kingdom people.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is not about non believers.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is about believers who have a busy bee in their bonnet kind of mentality.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Matthew 21 for the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of an estate who went out early one morning to hire workers for his vineyard.

Dr. David Spoon:

He agreed to pay the normal daily wage and sent them out to work at 9:00 in the morning.

Dr. David Spoon:

He was passing through the marketplace and he saw some people standing around doing nothing.

Dr. David Spoon:

So he hired them, telling them he would pay them whatever was right at the end of the day, at noon, and again around 3:00, he did the same thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

5:00 that evening, he was in town again.

Dr. David Spoon:

He saw some people standing around.

Dr. David Spoon:

He said, why haven't you been working today?

Dr. David Spoon:

They replied, because no one has hired us.

Dr. David Spoon:

The owner of the estate told them, then go out and join the others in my vineyard.

Dr. David Spoon:

Wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

How about them apples?

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's pick it up.

Dr. David Spoon:

In Matthew 21, the parable of the vineyard workers, Jesus makes it very clear that the kingdom of heaven, which is the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Christ, and people that try and split that.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's not true.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's all the same thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Is like the owner of an estate who went out early in the morning to hire workers.

Dr. David Spoon:

He agrees to pay them their wages and he sends them out to work.

Dr. David Spoon:

So what happened?

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, the owner sees more people later and he offers them the opportunity to join the enterprise as well.

Dr. David Spoon:

Even again, more people later on also offered the opportunity to join the enterprise.

Dr. David Spoon:

What does this tell you?

Dr. David Spoon:

It tells you that this parable that Jesus is teaching has a great deal of inclusivity.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're not talking about DEI ridiculous man wisdom.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're talking about the continuous nature of the kingdom of God and the continual invitation for people to respond until the trumpet blows and it's over.

Dr. David Spoon:

There is an opportunity for people to get involved in the kingdom of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what's amazing is how Jesus explains this story in somewhat of an indictment a little bit.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll get to that in a bit.

Dr. David Spoon:

But the bottom line in this story is that the estate owner goes out, he sees different people.

Dr. David Spoon:

Different people, different people.

Dr. David Spoon:

Keeps on inviting them to work.

Dr. David Spoon:

Keeps on inviting them to work.

Dr. David Spoon:

Right.

Dr. David Spoon:

And one of the things that a lot of Christians have a very difficult time with is inviting people to the kingdom work.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't tell me you do not.

Dr. David Spoon:

I have been doing this A lot, long time and have had a lot of engagement with people.

Dr. David Spoon:

There is a reservation that some people have.

Dr. David Spoon:

There is a nervousness, there is a performance anxiety in regards to sharing about anything that the Lord is doing.

Dr. David Spoon:

The problem there is that we keep thinking it's our way of communicating, it's how we do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

And do we say it effectively?

Dr. David Spoon:

The gospel does not need help in what it is.

Dr. David Spoon:

It just needs to be shared.

Dr. David Spoon:

You don't have to speak great, you don't have to be Billy Graham.

Dr. David Spoon:

You don't have to be a terrific orator.

Dr. David Spoon:

You just have to be yourself.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you don't have to sit there and have a perfect homiletical message or a perfect this when you're sharing with anybody.

Dr. David Spoon:

None of that is called for.

Dr. David Spoon:

The man who had the demons, all he did was tell people what Jesus did for him.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're thinking, well, there's got to be more to it.

Dr. David Spoon:

You see, that's the problem.

Dr. David Spoon:

The problem is right there, we keep thinking, there's got to be more to it.

Dr. David Spoon:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of God, for it is the power of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

The gospel is the power of God, not the way you present it.

Dr. David Spoon:

You cannot present the power of God better or worse.

Dr. David Spoon:

It is God's gospel.

Dr. David Spoon:

You just gotta share, oh, the Lord did that for me.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you might be thinking, it takes a lot for me to do that.

Dr. David Spoon:

I understand.

Dr. David Spoon:

It also doesn't take that much for you to say to the Lord, I need more courage to share with people what you've done for me.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you'd be amazed that once you have that door open, how more simplistic it is.

Dr. David Spoon:

the reason is because of Luke:

Dr. David Spoon:

Most of this stuff doesn't have to do with anything about how you're communicating.

Dr. David Spoon:

And most of this has to do with you and I just being available.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just like we talk in our DNA and in this illustration, Jesus is talking about people that have not been told.

Dr. David Spoon:

They've not been told.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's like amazing.

Dr. David Spoon:

At 6am they go out.

Dr. David Spoon:

The people start working at 9am, at 12pm, at 3pm, and then we get to the later part of it at noon.

Dr. David Spoon:

And again around 3:00, the same thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

And 5:00 in the evening, he went into town.

Dr. David Spoon:

He saw more people standing around and asked them, why haven't you been working today?

Dr. David Spoon:

They replied, because no one has hired us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Once again, you just got to hope that Jesus is mentioning These are people standing around without work.

Dr. David Spoon:

He said, why haven't you been working?

Dr. David Spoon:

Why are you standing around?

Dr. David Spoon:

It's very theologically fascinating.

Dr. David Spoon:

No one hired us.

Dr. David Spoon:

No one asked us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, we hope in genuineness, we hope this is not an indictment of our own ability to extend an invitation and outreach to others.

Dr. David Spoon:

No.

Dr. David Spoon:

You don't have to put on a soupy sales suit.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nope.

Dr. David Spoon:

You don't gotta put on a sandwich board and go around going, the end is near.

Dr. David Spoon:

The end is near.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nope.

Dr. David Spoon:

You don't got to take a bullhorn and go to a park where there's families and start screaming at them and telling them they're all going to hell because you don't like them.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know what you can do?

Dr. David Spoon:

You can just say, as the Lord gives you opportunity.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, this is what the Lord did for me.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, I had that prayer answered.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, thank God Almighty, he came and saved me from that situation.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, I went through that.

Dr. David Spoon:

But then, by the grace of God, I got out of it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because none of those are deeply theological.

Dr. David Spoon:

They're just telling people what Jesus has done.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that's all.

Dr. David Spoon:

There's nothing more to it.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not how you say it.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not whether you're dressed right, whether you're perfect at this or perfect.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's got nothing to do with it.

Dr. David Spoon:

The power of God is the gospel itself.

Dr. David Spoon:

Some of my best moments of bringing people to a decision to Jesus were some of my worst communications.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm not even kidding.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's so true.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because it's the Lord who does that.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's the Lord that touches hearts.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's the Holy Spirit that grabs somebody and speaks to them in such a way that they want more.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you know it's true because it keeps happening to you and it keeps happening to me.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what am I talking about is like, sometimes you'll be at church and the pastor's teaching, and, you know, the Holy Spirit's teaching you, and you're listening, going, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you're just getting all this insight.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, that's the same thing that happens to people the first time around when they say, yes, the Holy Spirit grabs ahold of them and says, look at this.

Dr. David Spoon:

And they're like, wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Instead of you worrying about how you perform it, just offer yourself to the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

He'll use you.

Dr. David Spoon:

And this is not to insult anybody.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I know people.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm going to get a couple emails from this.

Dr. David Spoon:

And please have a sense of humor every once in a while, but remember that God did use a donkey to rebuke a prophet.

Dr. David Spoon:

So I guess it doesn't really qualify that we have to worry about being, I don't know, better than a donkey.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hello.

Dr. David Spoon:

The Lord can use every one of us and any one of us and will, but he wants us to respond.

Dr. David Spoon:

He wants us to yield to him.

Dr. David Spoon:

He wants us to be available and maybe you share it and nothing happens.

Dr. David Spoon:

So what, your job is you don't save people.

Dr. David Spoon:

God saves people.

Dr. David Spoon:

You get to participate in the stuff.

Dr. David Spoon:

You get to work in the field.

Dr. David Spoon:

You don't make it.

Dr. David Spoon:

You help whatever is taking place in there.

Dr. David Spoon:

God is the One that gives the growth.

Dr. David Spoon:

So instead of being afraid, we just need to be available.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know, a great thing to say to people when you know they're hurting, even if they don't believe everything you say or do or stand in or whatever, still a great thing to say is, well, I'll pray for you, but then really pray for them.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't just say it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't mouth it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Really do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

And maybe you just pray for them right then and there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Interesting.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, before we go any further, we're going to do our trivia question.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's see if you guys can do this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Who was called the king of righteousness in the book of Hebrews, Hebrews 7, 1 2.

Dr. David Spoon:

Who was called the king of righteousness in the book of Hebrews, Hebrews, chapter seven, verses one through two.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you think you know the answer, you can reach out to us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Give us a holla.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Or you can send an email, davidmusincrease.org in the meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website.

Dr. David Spoon:

Lots of cool stuff on the website, plus a place to give.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we're down in the giving, so we ask you to step it up if you will, if you can.

Dr. David Spoon:

Our scripture for giving, 2 Corinthians 8, 3.

Dr. David Spoon:

I testify according to their ability and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord.

Dr. David Spoon:

Make sure you give.

Dr. David Spoon:

You give it with a good heart and a right spirit.

Dr. David Spoon:

Check it out on our website.

Dr. David Spoon:

He must increase.org prayer request.

Dr. David Spoon:

He must increase.org praise report looking to give to this ministry.

Dr. David Spoon:

He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.

Dr. David Spoon:

He must increase.org he must increase.org you're still here.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's over.

Dr. David Spoon:

Go home.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's right, I will.

Dr. David Spoon:

But not till the show's over.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, your trivia question, which I asked.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's see if people can get on it.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, people get on it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Make sure we're live on the air and everything's going good.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Who was called the king of righteousness in the book of Hebrews?

Dr. David Spoon:

Who was called the king of righteousness in the book of Hebrews?

Dr. David Spoon:

Hebrews, chapter 7, verses 1 through 2.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hebrews, chapter 7, verses one through two.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

So text:

Dr. David Spoon:

David must increase.org okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right.

Dr. David Spoon:

So before we get back to the text, we're going to pray.

Dr. David Spoon:

I want to give thanks to the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

My wife is starting to do better, and I am very, very appreciative.

Dr. David Spoon:

Also, Nancy's daughter Jill, out of surgery.

Dr. David Spoon:

Want to be thankful for that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Plus, many of you have had many awesome things take place in the Lord, and we want to be thankful to the Lord for all he's done.

Dr. David Spoon:

So let's just go to the Lord with a heart, a mind, a spirit of thanksgiving and tell the Lord how much we appreciate him.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Father, we come before you right now.

Dr. David Spoon:

We thank you and we praise you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We worship you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We glorify you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We honor you.

Dr. David Spoon:

You are worthy of all praise.

Dr. David Spoon:

You are worthy of all kindness that we can offer back.

Dr. David Spoon:

Lord, you're so good to us, and we want to be good to you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We want to honor you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We want to bless you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We want to praise you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We want to thank you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We want to live in a way that honors your name.

Dr. David Spoon:

Lord, you have done so many amazing things for us.

Dr. David Spoon:

We just cannot express it enough.

Dr. David Spoon:

So I want to thank you for my wife, that she's doing better.

Dr. David Spoon:

Thank you.

Dr. David Spoon:

She's so important to me, and she's such a blessing, and I just thank you that she's doing better.

Dr. David Spoon:

I thank you that Jill is doing better, that she's out of surgery, that Nancy can have a big, deep relief for her daughter going through the surgery.

Dr. David Spoon:

We thank you for the answers to prayers for people who are just really uptight about all the things that are going on in our country.

Dr. David Spoon:

We thank you for the answers to prayers for people who financially just didn't know how they were going to get through it and yet got through it.

Dr. David Spoon:

And for those that have been hurting and that you're healing them and those that have been calling upon your name and you're drawing near to them, and for those who want to be involved in your work and you'll be using them.

Dr. David Spoon:

Lord, we give you thanks and praise for yes and amen.

Dr. David Spoon:

For every promise is yes and Amen that come from you.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we have a heart, a mind that speaks of great anticipation.

Dr. David Spoon:

We know great things are coming, Lord, because you're great.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we ask you, Lord God, to continue to pour out your graciousness upon us.

Dr. David Spoon:

We thank you, we praise you, we worship you, and we lift all this up to honor you.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, our Savior.

Dr. David Spoon:

Amen.

Dr. David Spoon:

And Amen.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, back to the trivia question.

Dr. David Spoon:

Who was called the king of righteousness in the book of Hebrews?

Dr. David Spoon:

Hebrews, chapter seven, verses one through two.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

And here's something I want to talk about regarding the parable of the vineyard workers.

Dr. David Spoon:

I want you to see something that's exceedingly important.

Dr. David Spoon:

Many of us have children that have said no, or people close in our lives who have said no to the gospel.

Dr. David Spoon:

But that doesn't mean it's over.

Dr. David Spoon:

What we see is that people were coming.

Dr. David Spoon:

The owner of the estate was coming to people at the sixth hour, at the first hour, at 6am, at 9am, at 12am, at 12pm, at 3pm and at 5pm and what that should tell you and I, it reinforces the message that the gospel until the trumpet blows, the gospel is continually being offered to people, and it's not too late to join the kingdom of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

And even those that we know that have said no, you keep praying because it's not too late.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not over until the Lord says it's over.

Dr. David Spoon:

And people came in this parable to the kingdom at different points of the different day.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is a reference to the idea that there is opportunity and invitation that is open until the master of the estate closes it.

Dr. David Spoon:

In the most simplistic way, this parable conveys that people can come towards the kingdom of God at various times and various seasons in their lives.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just because they said no for 60 years doesn't mean they'll say no in the next six days.

Dr. David Spoon:

The timing of their arrival does not diminish their reward.

Dr. David Spoon:

What does that mean?

Dr. David Spoon:

They're not going to get anything less for getting in late.

Dr. David Spoon:

And Jesus makes it clear that the kingdom is inclusive.

Dr. David Spoon:

I know some people are thinking, well, it's got to be this.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's got to be.

Dr. David Spoon:

Listen, the road into the kingdom is narrow, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

We have our own on our station right here.

Dr. David Spoon:

The narrow path.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's a narrow road in.

Dr. David Spoon:

But once you are in, there is a lot of expansion.

Dr. David Spoon:

One tribe, one Israel, 12 tribes.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what we're hoping for in all of our lives is that people will choose to come no matter what point of their lives.

Dr. David Spoon:

They'll make a decision to come and follow Jesus, to say yes, to surrender, to yield family, friends, people we're in contact with, to say yes to Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not too late until the Lord says time is up.

Dr. David Spoon:

So don't stop praying, don't stop believing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Be aware.

Dr. David Spoon:

People come to the Lord and people come to the kingdom in different seasons and at different times.

Dr. David Spoon:

Not a problem.

Dr. David Spoon:

But don't stop believing and don't stop praying.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay?

Dr. David Spoon:

All right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Who was called the king of righteousness in the book of Hebrews?

Dr. David Spoon:

Hebrews chapter seven, verse one through two?

Dr. David Spoon:

Melchizedek.

Dr. David Spoon:

Mel?

Dr. David Spoon:

Mel, you there?

Dr. David Spoon:

Mel?

Dr. David Spoon:

Mel Kozedek, the king of righteousness.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, folks, we'll take our break and then come back.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Dr. David Spoon:

Short break, we'll be back.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Dr. David Spoon:

The David Spoon Experience.

Dr. David Spoon:

I want you to catch something because for some reason the church feels the need to over answer cultural changes that take place.

Dr. David Spoon:

Look at Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

He didn't care about anyone's opinion.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what it says right there, text.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you do not care about anyone's opinion.

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus didn't go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yes, I do.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, he didn't.

Dr. David Spoon:

He didn't.

Dr. David Spoon:

He never.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because he didn't.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's exactly right.

Dr. David Spoon:

He is true.

Dr. David Spoon:

So they said, we know that you are true and teach the way of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's aletheis, which means speaking the truth completely, nothing hidden, being real.

Dr. David Spoon:

He teaches the way of God correctly.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's a lay letheus, which is the cases according to the fact and doesn't care about anyone's opinion.

Dr. David Spoon:

The Greek word here literally means does not look at people's faces.

Dr. David Spoon:

In other words, when you are doing radio, I can't see faces except for Captain Chris.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay?

Dr. David Spoon:

I can't see if your face is Giving approval or denial, because the only way that happens is by text or phone or whatever the case may be.

Dr. David Spoon:

When an actor acts, they can look on stage and see with the audience if there's approval.

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus didn't seek people's facial approvals.

Dr. David Spoon:

He didn't care.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you think, well, no, he cared plenty.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, he cared about the mission to save the lost.

Dr. David Spoon:

He didn't care about those who were going to reject in the capacity that he sought their approval.

Dr. David Spoon:

He never sought their approval.

Dr. David Spoon:

He didn't leave live.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let me say that he didn't live for people's positive responses to him.

Dr. David Spoon:

He walked at the pleasure of the Father.

Dr. David Spoon:

Whatever the Father wanted him to do or say, that's what he did.

Dr. David Spoon:

Which is when you'll hear me say, we do it for the author and not the audience.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because I think some of you people are literally some of the nicest people I have ever met in my human journey, but you still don't have a heaven to put me in.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that's what it comes down to.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I know it says, that sounds so, you know, harsh or what it's like, are you serious?

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, if the Lord tarries and I die, you are not going to help me?

Dr. David Spoon:

I just don't really know a way to say it.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know what I'm saying?

Dr. David Spoon:

And so I want you guys to catch that.

Dr. David Spoon:

To catch.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is why Jesus was so different.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's because he spoke the truth.

Dr. David Spoon:

He said it according to what the truth was.

Dr. David Spoon:

And he didn't seek people's approval and sharing.

Dr. David Spoon:

He just was like, look, I'm telling you exactly what the Father's told me to say.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is exactly how the Spirit's leading me, exactly what the Father wants to be said.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then you look at that and you go, ooh, how about us?

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
