The David Spoon Experience 11-30-23 part 2
1) On a sad note, The Apostle Paul tells the Elders, “I know that I will never see any of you again.” I think it’s worth knowing the human plane in this text. The sincerity of this moment will produce tears in the people around him when he finishes his speech. As Christians, we need to be careful to enjoy some of the time that we have now. Because there will likely be some sense of separation for a season. But we can still rejoice that when that season concludes, we will all be together forever with the Lord and with one another.
2) I wish I could do justice to the next portion of the text. Paul says that no one’s damnation can be blamed on him. The best phrasing is, “I am innocent of the blood of all.” He says, “I did not shrink back from declaring all that God wants for you to hear.” I cannot tell you how easy it is to cherry-pick certain portions of the scripture and only preach those things that will make people feel good. I cannot tell you how bad that is to do for a teacher. We need the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Please help us, God!
3) Keep in mind that Paul is talking to elders, so he tells them to shepherd and feed the flock, the people. To take care of the faithful. The church of Jesus Christ are the people that are purchased by His blood. And it’s the Holy Spirit who has anointed and appointed these elders to lead. He then closes this portion with one of the saddest elements, telling those very same blessed leaders that false teachers will come in like vicious wolves and distort the truth just in order to get people to follow. them. Follow Jesus; don’t follow movements or people. Follow Jesus.
