Finding Your First Love Again: Keys to Deepening Your Faith

This podcast episode focuses on the essential theme of returning to one's first love in the context of faith and relationships, as highlighted in Revelation 2:4. David Spoon emphasizes the importance of not becoming so consumed by religious duties and practices that one forgets the core relationship with Jesus. He encourages listeners to remember the passion and enthusiasm they had at the beginning of their faith journey and to actively seek ways to rekindle that love. Throughout the episode, Spoon shares personal anecdotes and insights on maintaining strong relationships, both with God and with others, by engaging in acts of love and kindness reminiscent of the early days of those relationships. The episode concludes with a call to recognize the miracles that can happen in a moment and to approach the remaining days of the year with heightened expectations for God's goodness.

David Spoon opens today's show with a lively introduction reflecting on the nature of faith and the importance of maintaining a strong connection with God. He emphasizes that as the year draws to a close, there is an opportunity for listeners to elevate their expectations for divine intervention in their lives. Spoon encourages his audience to think about their personal journeys and consider whether they are anticipating more from the Lord in the coming year. With humor and sincerity, he shares his belief that miracles can occur in an instant, urging listeners to foster an attitude of hope and anticipation. The show transitions into a discussion about biblical love, with Spoon drawing from his understanding of scripture to explore the essence of loving relationships, especially in the context of the Christian faith.

As the conversation unfolds, Spoon delves into the book of Revelation, specifically addressing the church of Ephesus. He reflects on the significance of keeping one's first love—Jesus—at the forefront of their spiritual lives. By citing scripture, he emphasizes that it's easy to become entangled in the practices of faith without nurturing the personal relationship that is foundational to true Christianity. Spoon's passionate delivery serves as a reminder to his listeners to prioritize their relationship with God over mere religious activities. He skillfully weaves personal anecdotes and biblical truths to illustrate his points, ultimately calling for a return to the fervor and joy that characterized the listeners' early experiences of faith.

David Spoon:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

David Spoon:

Here is the key to the show.

David Spoon:

We don't know what we're doing.

David Spoon:

We have no idea what's going to happen and we don't care.

David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I want to talk biblical love with you.

David Spoon:

So here we go.

David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

David Spoon:

th day of November,:

David Spoon:

Let me just point this out to you.

David Spoon:

You're thinking, you know, Dave, there's like, what, 31 days in December?

David Spoon:

There's another 16 days here.

David Spoon:

So we're looking at about 47 days.

David Spoon:

What are you going to ask us, Dave?

David Spoon:

I'm going to ask you the same thing every single time we get on a Thursday.

David Spoon:

Here it is.

David Spoon:

Are you expecting more in:

David Spoon:

Now, a lot of you did not expect some of the political results that you have seen, so you're already sitting there thinking, well, that didn't happen the way.

David Spoon:

Exactly the way I thought it was going to happen.

David Spoon:

Or some of you are like, yeah, kind of, kind of, kind of, kind of, kind of.

David Spoon:

But here's what I'M going to say to you to make it absolutely crystal clear so you can catch this.

David Spoon:

It only takes a moment for a miracle.

David Spoon:

I'm sorry, how long a moment?

David Spoon:

Not.

David Spoon:

Not even a wink.

David Spoon:

A twinkling.

David Spoon:

A twinkling is 10,000 times faster than a wink.

David Spoon:

It only takes that for a miracle because in a twinkle of an eye, bam.

David Spoon:

So here's what I want you to have.

David Spoon:

The attitude that says, you know what?

David Spoon:

I've got this many days left in this year, then if the Lord tarries, hey, you know what?

David Spoon:

I am going to increase my level of expectation that God's goodness will shine in my life.

David Spoon:

Can you do that?

David Spoon:

It is a simple question.

David Spoon:

Yes or no?

David Spoon:

Let me rephrase it.

David Spoon:

If Jesus was in the room and he said to you, do you believe that I am able to do it?

David Spoon:

What would you say?

David Spoon:

What would you say to?

David Spoon:

Are you expecting more from the Lord?

David Spoon:

And in the Lord and with the Lord and the rest of this?

David Spoon:

2024.

David Spoon:

If you have a response, if you have an opinion, a comment, a thought, or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.

David Spoon:

We do consider that to be very sad.

David Spoon:

Sad indeed.

David Spoon:

All you gotta do is give us a call.

David Spoon:

That's kind of nice.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Talking to Jam and Jacob is like spending time relaxing and chillaxing.

David Spoon:

Thank you, David.

David Spoon:

Happy Thursday.

David Spoon:

Happy Thursday to you, my friend.

David Spoon:

Has your day been going pretty good so far?

David Spoon:

Not too complex.

David Spoon:

Okay, yeah, day's going pretty good so far.

David Spoon:

How's your day going?

David Spoon:

Pretty interesting.

David Spoon:

I have my notes that disappeared into the abyss.

David Spoon:

So we will be doing everything freewheeling today.

David Spoon:

So free.

David Spoon:

Not free Willy, but freewheeling, so to speak.

David Spoon:

So we'll just see how that all pans out.

David Spoon:

Maybe the Lord has something else in mind.

David Spoon:

And I.

David Spoon:

I do like it when the Lord interrupts because it kind of has that greater sense of purpose from my perspective.

David Spoon:

But what that means is we will just roll with it the best we can.

David Spoon:

You want to know why?

David Spoon:

Because that's what Christian living is.

David Spoon:

Sometimes you know, hey, this is going to happen.

David Spoon:

Sometimes you're like, uh, right.

David Spoon:

But who is not caught off guard?

David Spoon:

The Lord God Almighty.

David Spoon:

And so I just want to point that out to you, by the way.

David Spoon:

I just want to check with Jam and Jacob on something because I know, you spend time relaxing and chillaxing.

David Spoon:

This weekend you got to work.

David Spoon:

No, I am off this weekend.

David Spoon:

Yay.

David Spoon:

Hey, let me give you a golf clap.

David Spoon:

Congratulations.

David Spoon:

Thank you.

David Spoon:

Yes, I am off this weekend.

David Spoon:

I believe next weekend.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

What's going to work?

David Spoon:

Yeah, I won't say much about that.

David Spoon:

Then when we get into the closer time.

David Spoon:

All right, bottom line here is that you can give us a call.

David Spoon:

It's a phone.

David Spoon:

I know it's different.

David Spoon:

It's called a telephone.

David Spoon:

I know some people say it's a smartphone.

David Spoon:

It's only as smart as the users.

David Spoon:

Here's the bottom line.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Let me say that just a little differently.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

That was a little different, wasn't it?

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

By the way, that was not sped up by machine.

David Spoon:

That was me.

David Spoon:

Additionally, you can send an email davidcrease.org D A V I D David.

David Spoon:

That's my name.

David Spoon:

That's what my parents named me.

David Spoon:

I was not named after a king.

David Spoon:

I was just named David.

David Spoon:

Must increase.

David Spoon:

I attached to that king, but I wasn't named after him.

David Spoon:

He must increase.

David Spoon:

That's John 3:30.

David Spoon:

He must increase@must increase.org because we're a nonprofit corporation, that's why.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Why bother?

David Spoon:

Because maybe you have a praise report.

David Spoon:

And the Bible teaches clearly in Isaiah, chapter 4, verse 7 that we were created for the glory of God.

David Spoon:

And so when you give praise, you honor God and bring him glory, you strengthen it in your own life and you bless other people.

David Spoon:

Maybe it's a prayer request.

David Spoon:

You got stuff going on.

David Spoon:

Well, guess what?

David Spoon:

Nothing is impossible for the Lord God.

David Spoon:

And all things are possible to them that believe.

David Spoon:

So let's put those together and pray and petition and ask God for your situation, your finances, your health, your scenario, all of it.

David Spoon:

In fact, one of the things I want to be praying for is better relationships.

David Spoon:

I'm not even going to define that for you.

David Spoon:

I'm going to pray for that in a minute.

David Spoon:

But if you've got something along the lines of prayer and you need prayer, let's pray.

David Spoon:

Let's do it.

David Spoon:

And if you can't share everything.

David Spoon:

You know, The Lord is not foolish.

David Spoon:

He knows what the need is.

David Spoon:

But we can take our faith and put it with your faith.

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got something you want to share, like a scripture, something that's really blessed you, something that's taken place.

David Spoon:

Awesome.

David Spoon:

We're not against politics.

David Spoon:

We're just for really spending time encouraging one another to draw closer to the Lord and to encourage each other as we see the day of the return of Jesus Christ getting closer and closer.

David Spoon:

That's where we're geared for.

David Spoon:

That's what we're doing.

David Spoon:

So right off the bat, I want to pray for everybody who can hear my voice and listen to this prayer.

David Spoon:

It's a very, very cool direction we're going to go in.

David Spoon:

We're going to ask God to help every one of us.

David Spoon:

For what?

David Spoon:

Better relationships.

David Spoon:

Father, we come before you right now in the name of Jesus Christ, with help from the Holy Spirit, and we pray right now for every person that can hear me, myself included, Lord.

David Spoon:

Now, you know this petition before it's offered, but you love us spending time with you, and we love to spend time with you.

David Spoon:

You are our life.

David Spoon:

And right now we are asking because some of us are in very tough relationships, either with children or with spouses, even ex spouses, with different family members, with different coworkers, different people in the church, different people outside of the church, our neighbors.

David Spoon:

Lord, we are not asking for our life to be perfect on this side of glory because we're well aware, but we are asking for a betterment in our personal relationships that they can do better or be better.

David Spoon:

And, Lord, if that's on us, help us to be responsive, help us to be sensitive.

David Spoon:

But outside of that, we're asking for your miraculous power.

David Spoon:

We're praying the very prayer we were taught to pray in your word.

David Spoon:

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.

David Spoon:

And let that happen in our relationship with people, with part of our family members.

David Spoon:

Please grant us grace.

David Spoon:

In fact, from what we read yesterday, Lord, please send us grace in our relationships.

David Spoon:

We need it and we need your help.

David Spoon:

And we pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

David Spoon:

Amen and amen.

David Spoon:

Okay, that's how we open up the show.

David Spoon:

We are in the book of Revelation.

David Spoon:

I hope you guys are ready, because last week we talked about the reality check that In Revelation, chapter 2, Jesus had made it clear that he knows.

David Spoon:

He knows.

David Spoon:

So we really hammered that home.

David Spoon:

And that's a really important point.

David Spoon:

But we get to the next point in this text right here.

David Spoon:

I'VE actually used at a wedding.

David Spoon:

Not supposed to use Revelation at a wedding.

David Spoon:

Oh, well, this is for all of us as Christians and everywhere else along the lines.

David Spoon:

And I just realized how important this connection is to what the Lord is allowing, because it's kind of about relationships.

David Spoon:

Hello.

David Spoon:

In verse four of chapter two in the book of Revelation, as we are dealing first with the church of Ephesus, we come to a point where there's not a lot of symbolism needed in this or interpretive skills needed in this portion regarding whether it's symbolic or not, literal or not.

David Spoon:

That's not what's needed.

David Spoon:

What's needed is for you and I to pay attention.

David Spoon:

So after Jesus says, you've persevered and you have patience and you've labored for my name's sake and have not become weary, he's happy.

David Spoon:

We're keep.

David Spoon:

We're keeping it going.

David Spoon:

We're not going to give up.

David Spoon:

We don't quit.

David Spoon:

Verse 4.

David Spoon:

Nevertheless, you know, that's not the thing I want to hear from Jesus.

David Spoon:

I don't know what you're thinking.

David Spoon:

I know what I'm thinking.

David Spoon:

That's not.

David Spoon:

I don't want to hear this.

David Spoon:

But yet he says it.

David Spoon:

Revelation, chapter 2, verse 4.

David Spoon:

Nevertheless, I have this against you that you have left.

David Spoon:

Uh oh.

David Spoon:

Your first love.

David Spoon:

What?

David Spoon:

Nevertheless, I have this against you.

David Spoon:

You have left your first love.

David Spoon:

I'd like to point out to everybody who's listening to my voice that Jesus did not tell this church.

David Spoon:

And by the way, they're obviously a church and the first church.

David Spoon:

And by the way, Jesus commended them for testing people who say they were apostles and are not.

David Spoon:

They obviously have an inc.

David Spoon:

Inclination to the Word.

David Spoon:

They obviously have a connection.

David Spoon:

They've not grown weary.

David Spoon:

They've maintained patience for the name of Christ.

David Spoon:

They're Christians.

David Spoon:

But Jesus said, I have this against you.

David Spoon:

You have left your first love.

David Spoon:

What?

David Spoon:

I want to notice something with all of you at the same time.

David Spoon:

Jesus did not say to this church, you have lost your first love.

David Spoon:

Yep.

David Spoon:

That's not what it says.

David Spoon:

That's not the Greek.

David Spoon:

Can't do it.

David Spoon:

Not in any translation anywhere.

David Spoon:

And if it says it in that translation, that's terrible.

David Spoon:

He says, you have left.

David Spoon:

You have walked away.

David Spoon:

What does that mean?

David Spoon:

How do you leave your first love?

David Spoon:

It's pretty simple.

David Spoon:

You get so caught up in the things that you're doing that you forget the person you're doing them for.

David Spoon:

Don't you kid yourself.

David Spoon:

This passage is a great passage for every pastor, for every minister, for Everybody who's ever been in ministry is in ministry or will be in ministry.

David Spoon:

The very thing that Keith Green said many moons ago, but he said it better than anybody else, it says this.

David Spoon:

You can't get so caught up in the work of the Lord that you forget the Lord of the work.

David Spoon:

You can't get so caught up in rules and regulations.

David Spoon:

You can't get so caught up in the execution of the proper behavior that has to do with Kingdom.

David Spoon:

You can't get so caught up in that part of it that you forget the core part of your Christian faith.

David Spoon:

What is that core part?

David Spoon:

Jesus, your first love.

David Spoon:

See, here's the problem.

David Spoon:

The problem is when we move in our faith from a genuine faith to a religiosity to a churchy entity, then what we do when we take care, when they take that action, is we've moved into rules, regulations, practices, certain expected behaviors, and that becomes the pursuit.

David Spoon:

That's the problem that the Pharisees faced.

David Spoon:

It's not that they didn't ever read it, but it was all about the rules, the regulations, and the applications.

David Spoon:

Hey, at the core of this thing is Jesus, the cornerstone of our faith.

David Spoon:

That means he's the stone by which everything else gets lined up and built and done.

David Spoon:

And we need to be passionate, I mean passionate about our first love.

David Spoon:

I just want to point this out for those that are having a hard time understanding this.

David Spoon:

You're going to go to heaven, right?

David Spoon:

You believe in Jesus.

David Spoon:

You're going to go to heaven, right?

David Spoon:

You believe in the testimony God gave regarding his son dying on that cross, being buried, and then rising again, doing that so that we can have a right relationship with God?

David Spoon:

You're going to go to heaven.

David Spoon:

What do you think you're going to be doing when you're in the new heavens and the new earth?

David Spoon:

Do you think God is going to give you a cottage by a lake and a boat so you can go fishing, or a rocking chair so you can sit there and knit?

David Spoon:

Or do you think you'll be able to do different kinds of arts and crafts or things of this nature?

David Spoon:

I've got a message that overrides all of those potential hopes for you, and that is you are going to be spending time with God.

David Spoon:

If you don't like having a relationship with Jesus, you're going to hate heaven, because that's what it's about.

David Spoon:

And the irony is that Christians do not have to wait in order to engage in this.

David Spoon:

Hebrews 10, 19, 22 makes it clear that through the work of Jesus Christ we have access into the presence 24 7, 365.

David Spoon:

And we don't have to wait for one day a year in order to go into the presence of God.

David Spoon:

So the excuses are void.

David Spoon:

There are no excuses today.

David Spoon:

If you hear his voice, do not harden your heart.

David Spoon:

He is calling all of us into a deeper relationship.

David Spoon:

And don't tell me it's deep enough.

David Spoon:

It's not.

David Spoon:

And it won't be until we're actually with him 247 in his presence in the city that he built to get that.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

How did we start off with that fire?

David Spoon:

Who knows?

David Spoon:

But we will do this.

David Spoon:

Take a deep breath and answer this trivia question.

David Spoon:

While they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

David Spoon:

Which future apostle was present at the stoning of Stephen?

Meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website.

David Spoon:

What's on the website?

David Spoon:

Cool stuff, cool videos, cool audios.

David Spoon:

There's a place to put a praise report and a prayer request we've got.

David Spoon:

You can keep them private, you can make them public.

David Spoon:

Nobody else sees it.

David Spoon:

Nobody else sees it.

David Spoon:

It's protected.

David Spoon:

And we pray over every one of them.

David Spoon:

And I am not kidding.

David Spoon:

And we don't pray just for three seconds.

David Spoon:

We pray.

David Spoon:

So if you have that going on, we really encourage you.

David Spoon:

Additionally, there is a place to give.

David Spoon:

And why is giving important?

David Spoon:

There is no ministry without the giving.

David Spoon:

That's why.

David Spoon:

So if you like it, if the ministry has blessed you, awesome.

David Spoon:

Help us out.

David Spoon:

If you can't, God bless you.

David Spoon:

May he put you in a place where you can.

David Spoon:

But please commit to praying for us.

David Spoon:

Just that simple.

David Spoon:

Proverbs 3, 9.

David Spoon:

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.

David Spoon:

I got an opportunity today to share with somebody for about 15 minutes about how important it is not to give God leftovers.

David Spoon:

God gets the first and the best and Even if you think, well, you know, it could hurt me to give.

David Spoon:

I don't know.

David Spoon:

Do you think there was pain when the Father gave the son to be sacrificed on a cross?

David Spoon:

David Spoon:

Anyway, all right, so, you know, sometimes maybe losing the notes is not the worst thing.

David Spoon:

Bottom line.

David Spoon:

Here's your trivia question.

David Spoon:

While they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

David Spoon:

Which future apost apostle was present at the stoning?

David Spoon:

That's the text.

David Spoon:

David Spoon:

Back to the text.

David Spoon:

Because if you think it's over, you're wrong.

David Spoon:

That intro was really good, actually.

David Spoon:

It really blessed me just to share it.

David Spoon:

But look at what Jesus says in verse five.

David Spoon:

He actually gives the answer, how we should respond, how we deal with it.

David Spoon:

And he gives it, broken down in three stages.

David Spoon:

And I love it.

David Spoon:

He says, remember therefore, from where you have fallen, repent and do the first works.

David Spoon:

Or else.

David Spoon:

Oh, Jesus said, or else.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

Or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place unless you repent.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

Just in case you forgot our earlier teachings, it was actually Ephesus was the first church that closed out of these seven.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

But look at the three things Jesus says.

David Spoon:

And this is great for relationships.

David Spoon:

And this is great for every form of relationship, if you learn to apply it with the Lord.

David Spoon:

Remember, therefore, from where you have fallen.

David Spoon:

That is Jesus saying, remember where you were, how you woke up and you were just like Jesus, I love you, Jesus.

David Spoon:

Thank you so much for saving me.

David Spoon:

Thank you, Jesus.

David Spoon:

Remember how you were just on fire.

David Spoon:

Remember how you just loved everything about God, everything about the kingdom.

David Spoon:

Remember how you read the Bible and then you got all jazzed because, hey, the Bible now speaks.

David Spoon:

It makes sense.

David Spoon:

I'm reading it.

David Spoon:

It's wonderful.

David Spoon:

I love it.

David Spoon:

Remember that.

David Spoon:

Remember that.

David Spoon:

Jesus says, remember, therefore, from where you have fallen.

David Spoon:

That is where you were.

David Spoon:

Get back there.

David Spoon:

That's what he says.

David Spoon:

People are like, well, you can't get back.

David Spoon:

Of course you can.

David Spoon:

Do you think God has withdrawn his presence from you?

David Spoon:

Do you think he loves you less?

David Spoon:

Those are two lies you should never buy into.

David Spoon:

Therefore, remember where you have fallen, from where you have fallen.

David Spoon:

Repent is number two.

David Spoon:

What do you mean, repent?

David Spoon:

Change your thinking, change your direction, change your mind.

David Spoon:

Don't go, oh, yeah, I'm real sorry.

David Spoon:

And then just keep going in the same direction.

David Spoon:

You change the direction you're going in by changing your thinking.

David Spoon:

And you go, I'm going to agree with God's thinking.

David Spoon:

I should be more back where I was.

David Spoon:

God, I am sorry.

David Spoon:

Help me to get back where I.

David Spoon:

That's what you do.

David Spoon:

So the first thing you do is remember where you were.

David Spoon:

The second thing you do is repent.

David Spoon:

Do I gotta be sorry in that one?

David Spoon:

Yes.

David Spoon:

I'm not even gonna play around with that.

David Spoon:

Yeah, you need to be sorry about that.

David Spoon:

You need to go, yeah, I should be doing better.

David Spoon:

You don't need to sit there and slash yourself or put ashes on your head, unless you feel that's important.

David Spoon:

But the bottom line is simply this.

David Spoon:

Repent.

David Spoon:

Change your direction.

David Spoon:

Change your thinking.

David Spoon:

And then he says this, and this is the key to all of it.

David Spoon:

I'm going to illustrate this in a second.

David Spoon:

Nevertheless, I have this against you.

David Spoon:

You have left, not lost, your first love.

David Spoon:

Remember, therefore, from where you have fallen.

David Spoon:

Repent and do the first works you did.

David Spoon:

Do the things you did at the beginning.

David Spoon:

Whatever you were doing in the beginning, go back to doing that.

David Spoon:

But, Dave, I have so many things to do.

David Spoon:

You had so many things to do back then.

David Spoon:

And yet Jesus was the passion.

David Spoon:

So one of the things that I've worked on, not perfectly, but better than often, is between Noel and I, we try to do the things we did at the beginning of our relationship.

David Spoon:

Still, we actually do this.

David Spoon:

It's very.

David Spoon:

I know it's.

David Spoon:

It's super goofy, but it's cool.

David Spoon:

We try to surprise each other with little things like we did in the very beginning of our relationship, because we think if we did the things that we did at the very beginning of our relationship and we keep doing that, that will keep the relationship in the place that it was.

David Spoon:

That'll make it what it is, and that'll make it what it will be.

David Spoon:

We actually use this text to guide our marriage principles.

David Spoon:

Remember where we were.

David Spoon:

Be sorry about the fact that we're not there.

David Spoon:

Get back there and do the things you need to do.

David Spoon:

Yes, like those goofy love notes.

David Spoon:

Every once in a while, I take a piece of paper out of the printer and I just write a heart and a U.

David Spoon:

And I take a piece of tape and I slap it up on the refrigerator because I'm going to bed.

David Spoon:

Maybe after she is, she wakes up and sees it, it's worth a billion dollars.

David Spoon:

But, you know, it doesn't have to be just romance.

David Spoon:

It could just be friendship, encouragement, your children.

David Spoon:

You could put a note up on the thing for your children saying you're awesome.

David Spoon:

Any of that.

David Spoon:

That's all correct.

David Spoon:

That's what Jesus is telling them to do.

David Spoon:

Do what you did in the beginning.

David Spoon:

In regards to which apostle was there at the stoning of Stephen?

David Spoon:

Future apostle.

David Spoon:

That's Paul Saul.

David Spoon:

Paul Saul.

David Spoon:

There's your answer.

David Spoon:

Take a short break, then come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Short break.

David Spoon:

We'll be back.

David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Jacob:

I was driving down I30 yesterday, and it was stop and go traffic.

Jacob:

There's, I guess, an accident up ahead.

Jacob:

So I was Putting along at 20 miles an hour, 15 miles an hour, and this little sports car, his feet up and get right beside me, and then he fall back and I'll just kind of.

Jacob:

We're shuffling back and forth.

Jacob:

He'd go.

Jacob:

And I go.

Jacob:

And he'd go.

Jacob:

And I go.

Jacob:

And I just was watching out of the corner of my eye and just kind of mindlessly driving at 20 miles an hour.

Jacob:

And then all of a sudden I hear this little beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.

Jacob:

And I said, oh, what did I do?

Jacob:

And I looked out of the corner of my eye and he drove right up next to me.

Jacob:

You had his windows rolled down and he gave me a big old thumbs up.

Jacob:

I said, what's he giving me a thumbs up for?

Jacob:

I was kind of expecting when you have somebody honking at you, you're expecting something else, you know, And.

Jacob:

And then I realized I have that bumper sticker on that's.

Jacob:

It's no, God created the universe.

Jacob:

He can write a book.

Jacob:

And.

Jacob:

And then he just sped off.

Jacob:

Not.

Jacob:

Well, he slowly drove off at 20 miles an hour.

Jacob:

But I just thought that was neat.

Jacob:

That's the first time that anybody's really gives a thumbs up for a bumper sticker.

Jacob:

Usually people that have bumper stickers, it's to hold their bumper on their car.

Jacob:

But I just wanted to share that story.

David Spoon:

That is an awesome story.

David Spoon:

First of all, it's really good that he gave you a thumbs up and didn't use any other fingers.

David Spoon:

So let's just say that's for sure.

David Spoon:

And then the other part about that is that that's cool because whether he's listening to the show or not, he agrees with you, knows that that's true.

David Spoon:

Hey, look, God created the universe.

David Spoon:

The dude can write a book.

David Spoon:

Let's just get that.

David Spoon:

Let's get that squared away, you know?

Jacob:

Yes.

Jacob:

And you know what?

Jacob:

He might be listening to the story, to the radio now.

David Spoon:

That's exactly right.

David Spoon:

What a blessing.

David Spoon:

That's cool.

David Spoon:

And we do have those bumper stickers.

David Spoon:

We only have so many.

David Spoon:

But we were as we get this.

David Spoon:

We're going to do an ambassador program, and that will give people an opportunity to put the bumper stick around their car if they want to.

David Spoon:

And nobody wants you to do anything to your car.

David Spoon:

You don't want to.

David Spoon:

But I really, really appreciate you sharing that story, and that is a great story.

David Spoon:

And see, every time we're in traffic, we think something bad's going to happen.

David Spoon:

Instead, hey, there was something good that happened.

David Spoon:

Somebody standing with you in the faith, perhaps a fellow listener, saying, right on.

David Spoon:

That's the right target.

David Spoon:

I bet that blessed you at the moment, didn't it?

Jacob:

It sure did.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

Jacob:

It sure did.

David Spoon:

That's cool.

David Spoon:

That's a great story.

David Spoon:

I mean, I love that.

David Spoon:

Oh, good job, Good, good job in being an ambassador.

David Spoon:

Just by sharing that bumper sticker and just by proclaiming the truth.

David Spoon:

Some people will read that and they might go, I don't know.

David Spoon:

But it sure challenges a lot of people, doesn't it?

David Spoon:

It's like, you gotta think that through, don't you?

David Spoon:

The David Spoon experience.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
