The David Spoon Experience 1-31-24 part 1

A) Psalm 48:11 says that Mount Zion rejoices and that the daughters of Judah are glad. I am not a person who promotes positive thinking and positive speaking. I am a Bible-believing, born-again Christian who promotes biblical thinking and biblical speaking. There are times to laugh and there are times to cry. There are times to be glad, and there are times to be sad. Just look at the life of Jesus. In this text, we are directed to be glad, because God is faithful and he will determine the crosses and the crowns that we encounter.

B) We should recognize the things that God has built as being steadfast and secure. We are told to consider the bulwarks. Bulwarks are strong walls that sustain. We are told to consider the palaces. And then we are told to tell that to the next generation, so that they may know what we have witnessed. The foundations, the buildings, and the works created by God in and around our lives are the things to tell the next generation.

C) Verse 14 often gets missed, but not today. This is our God. There was a popular show called "This is Our Life." That's cute. It's a TV drama. But the scriptures make it clear: this is our God. Do you want to know what God is like? His word will manifest himself in such a way that your relationship becomes dynamic. This is our God, and he is our God forever and ever. Not a temporary guide but a permanent king.

D) How long will this last? He will be our guide even unto death. The Greek Septuagint version reads "even unto eternity." I think people who are arguing over which of these two-word choices is best are missing it. Our death is just the entry point to our eternity. We are eternal now, but at death, it takes on a new set of clothing. That is how long he will be our guide: from now until there is no more time. Celebrate our forever starting NOW!
