The David Spoon Experience 1-25-24 part 1
A) In 2 Corinthians 12:11, Paul states that he has become a fool for Christ, driven to this point by the Corinthians. He acknowledges that he has been boasting about himself, but he also recognizes that there is nothing and no one that can boast outside of the Lord. He emphasizes that apart from the Lord, we are nothing. If God gives us breath, then everything we’ve ever done with that breath is because of God.
B) Paul, referring to himself as an apostle, makes an impressive statement. He acknowledges that his ministry has been marked by signs, wonders, and miracles, all of which were displayed with great perseverance. He dispels the notion that every miracle we pursue is as simple as opening a fortune cookie. Instead, he asserts that miracles are always connected to our relationship with the Lord and manifest through perseverance.
C) Paul employs a bit of sarcasm, expressing regret for not being a bigger burden to the Corinthians. He sarcastically asks for forgiveness for not being a bigger nuisance.
D) At this point, we see Paul’s human side. He isn’t seeking gifts or money from the Corinthians; he’s seeking their hearts. He’s even willing to go the extra mile and take care of everything himself to establish sincerity. However, he questions whether his love for them will result in them loving him less.
E) Paul returns to sarcasm, stating that he wasn’t a burden to the Corinthians. Despite not being crafty, sneaky, and a trickster, he insists that he didn’t exploit or take advantage of them. All he did was try to help, and everyone he worked with shared the same attitude and spirit. No one is trying to take advantage of the Corinthians.
