02-13-2025 part 1: The David Spoon Experience 02-13-25 part 1
The salient point of this episode revolves around the necessity for Christians to cultivate a genuine relationship with the Holy Spirit, as exemplified through the examination of the church of Sardis from Revelation chapter 3. Dr. David Spoon elucidates the perilous condition of a church that may possess a compelling reputation yet remains spiritually lifeless, underscoring the importance of an active faith that transcends mere ritualistic practices. He challenges listeners to reflect on their own spiritual journeys, urging them to discern whether their prayers and interactions with God stem from obligation or authentic engagement. Moreover, Spoon emphasizes the transformative potential of faith, likening it to a mustard seed that must be nurtured to flourish. Ultimately, the episode serves as a clarion call for believers to reawaken their spiritual vitality and embrace a dynamic relationship with the Divine.
Takeaways:
- Dr. David Spoon emphasizes the importance of engaging with the Lord in prayer rather than praying out of mere obligation, advocating for a sincere relationship with God.
- The discussion highlights the necessity for Christians to be vigilant and responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, ensuring that their faith is dynamic and alive.
- Spoon cautions against the dangers of religious routine that can lead to spiritual stagnation, urging believers to seek a vibrant connection with their faith.
- The episode elucidates the critical notion that church communities must remain open to God's guidance, avoiding the pitfalls of becoming complacent or overly structured in their practices.
The discourse presented by Dr. David Spoon delves deeply into the conundrums faced by contemporary Christians, emphasizing the dichotomy between outward appearances and spiritual vitality. A major theme of the episode revolves around the admonition issued to the church of Sardis, as articulated in Revelation 3, where the congregation is characterized as possessing a reputation of life, yet paradoxically, is deemed spiritually dead. This juxtaposition serves as a poignant reminder of the peril of prioritizing reputation over genuine faith and spiritual engagement. Dr. Spoon provocatively questions the audience regarding their personal engagement with their faith, urging them to examine whether their prayers stem from a place of obligation or heartfelt connection. He advocates for a proactive faith that seeks to embrace God's generosity, challenging listeners to confront their doubts and to cultivate a deeper, more authentic relationship with the Divine.

Speaker B:When it's cold outside.
Speaker A:I've got one.
Speaker A:Here's what's coming up on today's experience.
Speaker A:It's Dr.
Speaker A:Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DD DDDD's, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.
Speaker A:Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.
Speaker A:But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh, and some of you need a good laugh.
Speaker A:The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.
Speaker A:We hope before this introduction is over, life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't if we sit on our blessed assurance.
Speaker A:Humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?
Speaker A:Because it's not what you know, it's who you know.
Speaker A:And I know Jesus.
Speaker A:Also Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.
Speaker B:Living this life, not always easy running in.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker A:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
Speaker A:Local, national and heavenly talk.
Speaker A:My name is Dr.
Speaker A:David Spoon.
Speaker A:I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.
Speaker A:Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.
Speaker A:Here is the key to the show.
Speaker A:We don't know what we're doing.
Speaker A:Goodbye.
Speaker A:We don't know what we're doing.
Speaker A:We have no idea what's gonna happen and we don't care.
Speaker A:But for the next few minutes, I want to talk biblical love with you.
Speaker A:So here we go.
Speaker A:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
Speaker A:That thing right there.
Speaker A:Let's remember what Thursdays are.
Speaker A:What's Thursdays, Dave?
Speaker A:Thursdays are the Are you getting ready to receive day.
Speaker A:Do you have faith in the Lord Day?
Speaker A: aith in the Lord to thrive in: Speaker A:Let me just ask you this.
Speaker A:If you're praying, do you have faith when you pray, or are you praying out of obligation?
Speaker A:Do you have engagement with the Lord?
Speaker A:Do you actually believe that God is generous?
Speaker A:Or do you believe that you're just doing what you're supposed to do?
Speaker A:Are you ready to receive?
Speaker A:Are you ready to push the doubt over to the side?
Speaker A:Pick up the faith.
Speaker A:All you need is a mustard seed, but it's got to be a pure seed.
Speaker A:Push the faith away or push the doubt away.
Speaker A:Pick the faith up and use that.
Speaker A: aith in the Lord to thrive in: Speaker A:Are you ready to Receive.
Speaker A:If God knocked on the door right now, would you be opening the door going, ready?
Speaker A:That's the question.
Speaker A:If you have a response to that, an opinion, a comment, a thought, or your own question, please don't let it die of loneliness.
Speaker A:Just reach out and give us a holla.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Talking to Jam and Jacob is like spending time relaxing and chillaxing.
Speaker B:Thank you, David.
Speaker B:Happy Thursday.
Speaker A:Happy Thursday in Alaska to you, my friend.
Speaker A:How is it going?
Speaker B:I don't want to exaggerate, but it does feel like we're in Alaska a little bit.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:It's a little cold out there.
Speaker A:I don't know if you guys have noticed this.
Speaker A:Not.
Speaker A:And then next week is supposed to be a little cold.
Speaker A:And I just looked at Jacob, don't get mad at me.
Speaker A:And if you think this is rude, tough.
Speaker A:I just looked at him and said, yeah.
Speaker A:Yep, that's the problem.
Speaker A:Global warming.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:Just walk outside in Texas right now for about three hours without your coat and see what you think about that.
Speaker A:That's our response.
Speaker B:So it's supposed to be cold next week.
Speaker B:So that means the week after it'll be probably in the 80s because it's Texas.
Speaker A:I know, but then that could be good because that would be a good setup right there.
Speaker A:It'd be good time.
Speaker A:But I do wanna say it's funny.
Speaker A:Our song is when it's cold Outside.
Speaker A:I have the month of May.
Speaker A:Boy, did that apply.
Speaker A:Alright folks, let's just get to it.
Speaker A:It's very simple.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A:But by golly, that's not the only way.
Speaker A:No, no, you can send us a paper airplane.
Speaker A:It won't get here, but you can do it.
Speaker A:You can go outside and scream, David.
Speaker A:I won't hear it, but you can do it.
Speaker A:However, you can also text us and that would probably work.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Again, that's the Ministry line.
Speaker A:But during the show it is the text line.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Or you can actually send an email during the show.
Speaker A:Davidemustincrease.org it's all one thing, David.
Speaker A:With a circle.
Speaker A:He must increase from John 3:30.
Speaker A:He must increase.
Speaker A:I must decrease.org because we're a non profit corporation.
Speaker A:That's why there's no profit or there are no profits.
Speaker A:Both of Those are true.
Speaker A:Davidmustincrease.org, so you can call, you can text, you can email.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Has the Lord done something?
Speaker A:Have you seen the hand of God?
Speaker A:Have you shared that God has done something in your life?
Speaker A:You might be to use a little bit of Jewish guilt.
Speaker A:How I grew up.
Speaker A:Oh, great.
Speaker A:I'll do that for you right now.
Speaker A:David.
Speaker A:What, Mom?
Speaker A:David, you never call me.
Speaker A:All right, Mom, I'm calling you.
Speaker A:What's going on?
Speaker A:Mom, don't ask.
Speaker A:That was my family.
Speaker A:Now I'll do the same thing to you using a little different.
Speaker A:Ready?
Speaker A:I know God has worked in your life.
Speaker A:You don't have to.
Speaker A:Even you don't have to.
Speaker A:No defense, no anything.
Speaker A:Have you shared it?
Speaker A:Ouch.
Speaker A:That's all I'm asking you.
Speaker A:That's an opportunity for you to share.
Speaker A:It doesn't matter if you know how to say it.
Speaker A:It doesn't matter if you're brilliant at speed speaking or anything else.
Speaker A:I say probably.
Speaker A:I say about 25.
Speaker A:I'd say 25 or 30 good verbal errors.
Speaker A:Every show, I think right around there, right?
Speaker A:It's like, so what?
Speaker A:Who cares, right?
Speaker A:Only Jesus said it perfect all the time.
Speaker A:Everybody else, not so much.
Speaker A:So here's the deal.
Speaker A:If you've got something you want to share, do it.
Speaker A:Don't be afraid because you're afraid of the radio.
Speaker A:And if you are, then you go online and you fill out a form on the website or you send us an email and we'll share it for you.
Speaker A:That's how much we're interested in what the Lord is doing.
Speaker A:Also, we wanna be praying, so we're gonna be praying for our people.
Speaker A:We've been doing this pretty consistently.
Speaker A:We're gonna do it in the next 60 minutes when we're praying for people.
Speaker A:We're gonna pray for Rosalind.
Speaker A:She needs prayer.
Speaker A:She's doing a little better, but still struggling.
Speaker A:Angelina having a little trouble there.
Speaker A:She needs prayer.
Speaker A:We're gonna be praying for Keith Oakley as well as we're going to be praying for our brother Roger.
Speaker A:Again, if you heard yesterday, very, very touching.
Speaker A:Share that.
Speaker A:He shared with us.
Speaker A:Also going to be reminding you about February buddies.
Speaker A:And I'm also going to tell you today, you need to be encouraged.
Speaker A:I was reading in my devotions today in two Samuel 16 and oh my.
Speaker A:So powerful.
Speaker A:When David is running away and going because Absalom has risen up against him.
Speaker A:So powerful.
Speaker A:Where it says that David encouraged himself in the Lord, it's like, wow, we're gonna.
Speaker A:I wanna motivate people along those lines.
Speaker A:That's really good stuff.
Speaker A:David had to encourage himself in the Lord.
Speaker A:Sometimes you can listen to a radio show and it'll bless you.
Speaker A:Sometimes you can put on a worship song and, you know, sometimes you can hear a great sermon or you can do things like that.
Speaker A:But sometimes you just need to get with the Lord and just remember what David said in the Psalms.
Speaker A:Why so downcast, O my soul?
Speaker A:Put your hope in God.
Speaker A:A little bit of self.
Speaker A:Talk about your own soul right before the Lord and have that encouragement come.
Speaker A:Sometimes we need to get on it ourselves.
Speaker A:That's what David did twice.
Speaker A:Not just in 2 Samuel 16, but also in 1st Samuel, chapter 30, verse 6.
Speaker A:Did it twice.
Speaker A:Twice.
Speaker A:Wow, that's pretty cool, right?
Speaker A:Yeah, we need to be doing that.
Speaker A:So these things are available for you if you want to jump in on them.
Speaker A:If you need prayer, you let us know.
Speaker A:If you got something that's happened that you're just like, you're just marveled at it, just like, wow, this is really cool.
Speaker A:Or just trying to figure something out.
Speaker A:Great.
Speaker A:We'll pray, we'll ask, we'll try and bless you.
Speaker A:We'll do what we can to be a blessing to you.
Speaker A:That is our goal.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:Because there's enough rubbish all around us, that's why.
Speaker A:There's enough stuff going on all over the place.
Speaker A:There's enough stuff in your family, in your finances, in your health and everywhere else that there's just a lot of bleh.
Speaker A:Hey, how about a little Praise the Lord?
Speaker A:We are going to be dancing on streets of gold.
Speaker A:Please, Lord Jesus, come.
Speaker A:How about a little bit of that?
Speaker A:If anybody has a reason to have a hope and to stand firm in hope, it's the Bible.
Speaker A:Believing born again Christian.
Speaker A:I'm not trying to promote that.
Speaker A:We all need to be smiling all the time because I don't believe that.
Speaker A:I believe there's a time to weep and a time to laugh, but there is also a time for humbleness.
Speaker A:And there's also this time for a seizing of the faith and saying, you know what?
Speaker A:I'm a child of the most high God and my dad owns and runs the universe and I got it covered because he's got me covered.
Speaker A:There's nothing wrong with that as long as it's in the Lord.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right, so we'll be praying for people in a little while.
Speaker A:I just want to remind you about this encouragement part.
Speaker A:Sometimes we let the enemy kind of smack us on the head and then we sit in that head smacking.
Speaker A:So back in the day when I was in Flagstaff for a little while, I was in Flagstaff and I did a little bit of horse riding.
Speaker A:I don't know if you've ever done horse riding in a stable, but one of the things is if you fall off the horse and you don't get back up, you are lying on the floor in, well, let's say that these kind of stadiums.
Speaker A:That's where the bathroom is for the horse.
Speaker A:If you don't get up, you just lie in it.
Speaker A:You know what?
Speaker A:Get up.
Speaker A:Seven times a righteous man falls, the Bible says, and seven times he gets back up.
Speaker A:Some of you need to recognize that it's time to pull up enough whining and enough crying and enough kicking, kicking the dirt.
Speaker A:It's time to put a new song in your mouth and ask God to be the one to put it there.
Speaker A:And ask him to put your feet on the rock.
Speaker A:You should be into rock and roll.
Speaker A:Your name is on the roll and your feet are on the rock.
Speaker A:You should be into rock and roll.
Speaker A:Here we go.
Speaker A:What's wrong with David?
Speaker A:Nothing.
Speaker A:Wait til you get to this teaching right here.
Speaker A:This is just perfect for the lead in.
Speaker A:Just follow what we're gonna go into.
Speaker A:We are in Revelation chapter 3.
Speaker A:We are talking about the church of Sardis.
Speaker A:Revelation chapter 3, starting with verse 1.
Speaker A:And to the angel of the church in Sardis write these things, says he who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.
Speaker A:I know your works, that you have a name, that you are alive, but you are dead.
Speaker A:Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain that are ready to die.
Speaker A:For I have not found your works perfect before God.
Speaker A:Remember therefore how you have received and heard and hold fast and repent.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker A:Not wanting to be a member of the church of Sardis, that's what I would say.
Speaker A:Here's the deal and here's how it goes.
Speaker A:As we're looking at this, this church has a marvelous reputation.
Speaker A:Remember Jesus said you have a name, that you are alive.
Speaker A:They got a great rep.
Speaker A:They have a marvelous reputation.
Speaker A:Except in the kingdom of God they're known as the dead church.
Speaker A:Now every one of us knows what that's like.
Speaker A:When you go to a church and you attend it and you're trying to figure out in the church, where is God?
Speaker A:What that means when you have a church experience like that, a ministry experience like that, it means that there is a lot of religiosity and a lot of churchianity.
Speaker A:I will say this because I'm a person that has attended multiple.
Speaker A:Multiple churches in multiple denominations.
Speaker A:And I mean multiple, all right?
Speaker A:As in a lot.
Speaker A:There are phenomenal churches under every heading that names the name of Christ in truth and that is biblical.
Speaker A:In every one of those biblical Bible based churches, there is so many great churches, it's not funny.
Speaker A:But every once in a while you go to a church and you're sitting there and thinking, what?
Speaker A:What happened?
Speaker A:Where's the Lord?
Speaker A:And what happens is churches can, over time, fossilize, thinking, wait, no, no, they can.
Speaker A:They get so far into routines, so far into structure, so far into.
Speaker A:It's got to be this way that there's no room for the Lord to change anything.
Speaker A:Do you want that kind of Christian walk?
Speaker A:Well, then why would you want that kind of Christian fellowship?
Speaker A:You want a church where the pastor, the leaders, the people know, hey, this is God's place.
Speaker A:He wants to change it up, change it up.
Speaker A:He wants to do this.
Speaker A:This will do this.
Speaker A:He wants us.
Speaker A:This will do this.
Speaker A:It's a matter of obedience.
Speaker A:It's a matter of following.
Speaker A:There are so many excellent churches in Texas that are as sensitive as they can be to the Lord.
Speaker A:And some of the bigger ones, you think it's a little tougher.
Speaker A:But you know what?
Speaker A:I have seen in some of the bigger churches?
Speaker A:5,000 members, 10,000 members, 15,000 members.
Speaker A:Those pastors are very, very sensitive to the Lord.
Speaker A:And it's phenomenal.
Speaker A:I could never, in that kind of engagement, I don't think I can do it.
Speaker A:I can do it in this format.
Speaker A:I don't think I can do what they do.
Speaker A:That's just lights out, fantastic.
Speaker A:But also in the churches that have 20 and 25 and 30, how the sensitivity to the Lord.
Speaker A:I'm gonna preach on this, but maybe not, because this is what I think the Lord.
Speaker A:That is beautiful.
Speaker A:That is wonderful.
Speaker A:That is how your walk should be.
Speaker A:Well, I was gonna do this, but you know what, Lord, I wanna engage you here.
Speaker A:I wanna go over here.
Speaker A:That's the relationship part.
Speaker A:And so Jesus is talking to this church, in this church.
Speaker A:It's amazing.
Speaker A:They are so stuck in their reputation.
Speaker A:They are so stuck in their.
Speaker A:We want to prove to everybody how great we are.
Speaker A:And Jesus is like, you are dead.
Speaker A:Here's a huge solution for this church.
Speaker A:And this is a huge solution for your Christian walk.
Speaker A:Listen to what Jesus says.
Speaker A:Pay attention when he says these things.
Speaker A:He never says anything by accident.
Speaker A:Jesus never says anything without a reason.
Speaker A:He tells the church that he's the one that has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.
Speaker A:It's not complex for us to understand that the seven spirits of God refer to the Holy Spirit in Perfection.
Speaker A:We talked about that earlier in Chapter one, and that's the one thing that this church was missing.
Speaker A:The actual spirit of the living God.
Speaker A:They didn't have to be Pentecostal, but they didn't need to be frozen chosen either.
Speaker A:You get that you don't have to be Pentecostal.
Speaker A:You don't have to be Baptist.
Speaker A:Here's a great idea.
Speaker A:Don't be any of this.
Speaker A:Be a Christian.
Speaker A:Follow Jesus.
Speaker A:That's what you should do.
Speaker A:I don't mind if you call yourself a Baptist or a Pentecostal or anything else.
Speaker A:That's fine.
Speaker A:As long as your first allegiance, as always as should be, is to the Lord, right?
Speaker A:The first allegiance, even if you're a member in Israel, your first allegiance is not to your tribe name but to God Almighty, right?
Speaker A:No question.
Speaker A:And Jesus is like, you guys are dead.
Speaker A:I would shudder if that happened.
Speaker A:I don't know if I should.
Speaker A:I'm going to hold my breath for a second, pray about whether I should share this story with you.
Speaker A:I was reminded of it last week.
Speaker A:I haven't thought about it in 30 plus years.
Speaker A:But in the meantime, just take a deep breath.
Speaker A:We're going to do our first Bible trivia question.
Speaker A:It's very straightforward.
Speaker A:You should not miss this.
Speaker A:Matthew, Chapter two, verses one through two is your reference point.
Speaker A:The wise men saw this star in the north, south, east or west.
Speaker A:The wise men saw this star.
Speaker A:Now I know it was in the sky, so I'm doing that ahead of time.
Speaker A:Before El responds the wise men saw the star in the north, south, east or West.
Speaker A:Matthew chapter 2, verses 1 through 2.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Matthew 2:1 2 I'm going to send you up to the website.
Speaker A:I'm trying to be a Little bit more consistent on this.
Speaker A:It's very simple.
Speaker A:Proverbs 3, 9.
Speaker A:Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.
Speaker A:I was just doing a little bit of a study in Malachi and God was very upset with the children of Israel because they were giving him offerings that were secondary.
Speaker A:And third, and God said, I don't accept it.
Speaker A:It's like really, really powerful.
Speaker A:And so here I'm just going to encourage you, whether it's to us or not, that's not the issue.
Speaker A:You must give your best to God.
Speaker A:Do not give God less than your best, as he has never given you anything but the best.
Speaker A:If you are able to give.
Speaker A:We appreciate this.
Speaker A:This ministry exists off the donations of the listeners.
Speaker A:Without those donations, we do not do ministry, period.
Speaker A:Check it out on the website, plus a whole bunch of other things.
Speaker A:Hemustincrease.org Prayer Request hemostincrease.org Praise Report.
Speaker A:Looking to give to this ministry.
Speaker A:Confused by what's happening right now.
Speaker A:Hemustincrease.org hemustincrease.org they're moving in herds.
Speaker A:They do move in herds.
Speaker A:You know, I knew that they moved in herds.
Speaker A:I just, I just didn't have anybody to affirm it.
Speaker A:And now that he has said that in the movie, I feel much more.
Speaker A:I feel better about myself.
Speaker B:So you had a feeling they'd moved in herds, but Jurassic park just confirmed it.
Speaker A:Yeah, I think Jurassic park gave me the confirmation that I was looking for, that they move in herds.
Speaker B:Then the rest of the Jurassic park movies confirmed that there should only be one Jurassic Park.
Speaker A:That is absolutely correct.
Speaker A:You know what?
Speaker A:Give yourself a ding, ding, ding.
Speaker A:That is absolutely 100% correct.
Speaker A:The first one proved that all the other ones were really sad.
Speaker A:That's what it proved.
Speaker A:It proved they should have let it alone.
Speaker A:Sometimes the movie is one and done.
Speaker A:Move on.
Speaker A:That's all I'm going to say.
Speaker A:Boy, we're brutal, aren't we?
Speaker A:That is very funny.
Speaker A:You've really come out of your.
Speaker A:You're like a whole new person from when you started this.
Speaker B:Yeah, I remember.
Speaker B:It's funny.
Speaker B:I remember the first show just being nervous because I just, you know, I experience working bored in the radio, but it was just, you know, a new show, new job and everything.
Speaker B:But yeah, it's just, it's.
Speaker B:I'm a lot more open, I guess.
Speaker A:Yeah, you're at ease.
Speaker A:It's more natural for you.
Speaker B:Yes, yes, a lot more natural.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Very, very cool.
Speaker A:That's funny.
Speaker A:They should not have made it.
Speaker A:That is exactly correct.
Speaker A:I'm just going to leave that there.
Speaker A:Okay, so your trivia question.
Speaker A:People are like, what is wrong with you people?
Speaker A:Everything.
Speaker A:But we love Jesus.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So, all right, so that's the question.
Speaker A:The wise men saw the star in the blank.
Speaker A:North, south, east or west.
Speaker A:Matthew, chapter two, verse one through two.
Speaker A:That's your reference point.
Speaker A:If you think, you know, limited time because we only got like three minutes.
Speaker A: -: Speaker A: -: Speaker A:Davidemustincrease.org so I know you're sitting there thinking, why are you going down this path on the Revelation 3 on Sardis and talking about it from this point of view.
Speaker A:I really think this is a problem for a lot of Christians.
Speaker A:And I know, and I promise I'm going to cover it in all of its aspect.
Speaker A:But I do believe that many Christians fall into a doldrum and their faith is dry and stale.
Speaker A:And it's not a matter of God being dry or stale.
Speaker A:It's a matter of doing so much repetition in some of the things that it's not actually a relationship if you just do the same things over and over.
Speaker A:And it's never any different.
Speaker A:And I mean by relationship, I'm talking about there's never any exploration, there's never any new.
Speaker A:It just becomes methodical in rules.
Speaker A:It's kind of like repeating the same prayer over and over again without having any feeling behind it.
Speaker A:You want to repeat the same prayer, but that's fine as long as you're connected to it, as long as there's emotional elements to it, as long as you're being earnest about it.
Speaker A:You can ask the Lord for forgiveness on one day, the same way you ask him on the other day, but it can be a completely different part of your insides.
Speaker A:But don't just mouth the words, mean the words.
Speaker A:Don't just read that book and go there.
Speaker A:I've read it.
Speaker A:Read it and say, speak to me so I can hear you.
Speaker A:And for many Christians, because of how they were trained or raised, for whatever reason, this idea that you are supposed to fellowship with the Holy Spirit and be led by the Holy Spirit is just completely foreign, even though it's in the book.
Speaker A:So for some people, you need to have a reboot.
Speaker A:You need to do that thing where you were encouraging yourself.
Speaker A:You need to come before the Lord and say, I need some freedom, fresh oil in my life, because I'm a little bit dry.
Speaker A:And the Lord is going to answer that prayer because you're asking him for more of him in your life and to be directed and led and coordinated with God in partnership, like Amensky.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:You know how some of you.
Speaker A:I reply, eh, Menski and excellente, which is French for excellent.
Speaker A:Here's the deal.
Speaker A:The deal is that's a good thing.
Speaker A:Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit because he is fulfilling the ministry of Jesus Christ and actually lives inside of you because you acknowledged Jesus Christ and accepted him in your heart.
Speaker A:By faith, this church was dead.
Speaker A:There was no Holy Spirit there.
Speaker A:What Jesus says after this is pretty brutal, but we'll talk about that next week.
Speaker A:Pretty straightforward trivia question.
Speaker A:The wise men saw the star in the Was it north, south, east or west?
Speaker A:And the answer is the east.
Speaker A:Nice recovery, Jeanette.
Speaker A:The east.
Speaker A:Matthew 2:1 2.
Speaker A:Take a short break, then we'll come back.
Speaker A:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
Speaker A:Don't go anywhere.
Speaker A:The David Spoon Experience.
Speaker A:I want you to catch this.
Speaker A:What's the problem?
Speaker A:I'll tell you exactly what the problem is.
Speaker A:As Christians, when we go through this and make those kind of statements to God, it's because we don't think God is prophetic, conforming to our satisfaction.
Speaker A:We have encountered enough disappointment and we are like going, this hasn't worked.
Speaker A:Why am I going to do it again?
Speaker A:I didn't get anything from it.
Speaker A:Why should I keep trying?
Speaker A:What we're telling God is it didn't work the first time.
Speaker A:Why am I going to try it a second time?
Speaker A:Do you understand that when they tell you that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, hoping for different results, that is the absolute.
Speaker A:Absolutely not.
Speaker A:The definition of insanity by the actual book, okay?
Speaker A:And nobody ever said that was the actual definition.
Speaker A:The actual definition in the psychology dictionary in the psychiatrist's book book is doing a wrong or negative behavior over and over again and expecting different results.
Speaker A:If it was the other way around, nobody would try a diet more than once.
Speaker A:That's dumb.
Speaker A:Nobody would go back to school.
Speaker A:That's dumb.
Speaker A:It's about a bad behavior and expecting something good to come out of it.
Speaker A:When you're doing something bad, the reality is disappointment shuts us down.
Speaker A:Down.
Speaker A:And we don't feel like stepping out of the boat or taking it into deep water and throwing out the nets.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:Because we've been hurt and it's a bummer and we don't like it.
Speaker A:And just in case you're wondering how deep this goes in the scripture, I will point this out to you in another location, just in case you're wondering, because I know people are like, wait here.
Speaker A:John, chapter 11, verse 20.
Speaker A:When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him.
Speaker A:But Mary stayed at home.
Speaker A:Lord, Martha said, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
Speaker A:That's sister number one.
Speaker A:You want to hear sister number two, verse 32?
Speaker A:When Mary reached the place where Jesus was in Sodom, she fell at his feet and said, lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
Speaker A:Both the sisters were operating in the same exact principle, the same exact thing.
Speaker A:Even though they knew Jesus was the Lord and the Messiah, no question in their mind, they both said the same thing.
Speaker A:You could have done this differently.
Speaker A:Don't tell me people don't say that.
Speaker A:Don't tell me Christians don't say that.
