David Spoon:Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DDDDD is where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.
David Spoon:Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.
David Spoon:But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh and ours are a really hard hearty har har.
David Spoon:The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.
David Spoon:If you're a born again, Bible believing Christian, you should be ready, willing and desirous of the Lord's return.
David Spoon:Like right now.
David Spoon:Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use, probably won't.
David Spoon:If we sit on our blessed assurance.

David Spoon:Are you kidding?
David Spoon:With this face, with this nose, with these ears?
David Spoon:I have a face for radio, that's why.

David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:My name is Dr.
David Spoon:David Spoon.
David Spoon:I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.
David Spoon:Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.
David Spoon:Here is the key to the show.
David Spoon:We don't know what we're doing.
David Spoon:We have no idea what's gonna happen and we don't care.
David Spoon:But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk faith with you.
David Spoon:So here we go.
David Spoon:We're asking questions, the same question we ask every Monday and we'll do so every show that we have.
David Spoon:Very simply, what can our prayer warriors, the people in the audience, we don't have a group of people that are sitting here next to each other answering phones.
David Spoon:It's the people that listen to this show.
David Spoon:They are the prayer warriors.
David Spoon:What can our prayer warriors pray for you about?
David Spoon:Why would you ask that?
David Spoon:Because prayer works.
David Spoon:And for the people that don't believe, we don't believe prayer works.
David Spoon:That's why prayer doesn't work for them, because they don't believe.
David Spoon:That's exactly what it is.
David Spoon:Keeping it easy.
David Spoon:If you have something you need prayer for, our prayer warriors are willing to pray for you.
David Spoon:What you got?
David Spoon:Bring it.
David Spoon:We will offer it up before the prayer warriors.
David Spoon:If you want to Reach out to us.
David Spoon:It's easy.
David Spoon:Plus, also, if you have an additional opinion, a comment, a thought or a different kind of question, let it die of loneliness.
David Spoon:Just reach out and give us a call.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Talking to Jam and Jacob is like heading into the week with great faith and expectation.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:Thank you, David.
Co-host or Guest:Happy Monday.
David Spoon:Happy Monday to you, my friend.
David Spoon:Most people are probably thinking Dave might be a little low.
David Spoon:We'll see how that goes when we do Jake's take later on we will discuss that as it was a very busy sportsy weekend.
David Spoon:We'll get into that.
David Spoon:I do want everybody to know that as of today now, all of our family has now departed.
David Spoon:And so Noelle and I and Bert are once again in the it is our home, me or maintaining.
David Spoon:There is nobody around us for the next few days.
David Spoon:And you know how you go on a vacation, then you need a vacation from your vacation.
David Spoon:Yeah, one of those things going on.
David Spoon:I think you guys understand what I'm talking about.
David Spoon:But in the meantime, you are able to reach out by phone and touch base with us if there's something we can pray for you about.
David Spoon:That's fantastic.
David Spoon:Additionally, you can text us.
David Spoon:Not Texas, that's the state we're living in.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Again, that's the ministry line, but during the show, it's only for texts.
David Spoon:On top of that, you can send an email.
David Spoon:So we try to make it easy.
David Spoon:We did try to do that thing where paper airplanes would try and get through a hole in the front door.
David Spoon:It didn't seem to work very good.
David Spoon:Then we thought, what about using other airplanes and having them have little banners behind them?
David Spoon:But the problem is that we're in the middle of the building and we can't see those either.
David Spoon:And there's no windows.
David Spoon:So you're just going to have to use one of these three methods.
David Spoon:Either you call, either you text or you send an email.
David Spoon:The email is davidemustincrease.org davidemustincrease.org that's how simple that is.
David Spoon:Why would you call?
David Spoon:Why would you text?
David Spoon:Why would you email?
David Spoon:We've already told you it could be for prayer requests, because we love praying because we believe prayer works.
David Spoon:And for people that don't believe prayer works, they don't pray.
David Spoon:For them, it don't work.
David Spoon:But the reality is God does answer prayers and he answers them in his method, his timing, in his brilliance, from his generosity.
David Spoon:You don't have to dance to impress God where he'll say, oh, okay, now I'll answer.
David Spoon:That's not how prayer works.
David Spoon:So you have that opportunity for prayer requests.
David Spoon:It may be a praise report.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got a testimony, the Lord's done something great for you, kind for you, just wonderful for you.
David Spoon:One of the things that happened in our family time is we got some special time with almost each family member.
David Spoon:It was really cool to spend time talking about spiritual things and going a little deeper than the shallow kind of stuff.
David Spoon:Just get into it and talk about the nitty gritties.
David Spoon:And that was really kind of a blessing and are glad that our house was able to use for that.
David Spoon:That was really, really cool.
David Spoon:So I want to thank the Lord for allowing our house to be that kind of environment.
David Spoon:But additionally, you might have something you got going on.
David Spoon:You want to share a praise report, something the Lord has done for you, pray, protected you, guided you, gave you a blessing in the financial realm, gave you a blessing in relationship realm.
David Spoon:Whatever the case may be, don't hesitate because the Bible says, let the redeemed of the Lord say so.
David Spoon:And if the Lord has done a cool thing for you and you share that, it blesses others, it honors God and it strengthens it in your own life, perhaps, by the way, you've got something you want to share.
David Spoon:Just a scripture you came across, just something that you kind of thought about and really dawned on you and really blessed you and you want to share that.
David Spoon:We are for that.
David Spoon:We are well aware that right now, as we are even talking to you, there are a numerous amount of people in our country that are checking in with what is taking place on the presidential transition place.
David Spoon:And we for sure are supportive of our government in the context that we pray for them and not against them.
David Spoon:And I'm going to open up with a prayer for our government in just a moment.
David Spoon:But I want you to be aware that that is totally okay.
David Spoon:Some people don't feel bad.
David Spoon:Oh, I'm not listening to the show because I want to watch.
Co-host or Guest:That's fine.
David Spoon:That's okay.
Co-host or Guest:It's all right.
David Spoon:We're here for you when you need us to be here from you.
David Spoon:And we're trying to be a Blessing in whatever way, shape or form we can.
David Spoon:It's not about politics on our show.
David Spoon:We don't despise politics.
David Spoon:It's just not about that as the central theme.
David Spoon:Our central theme is to draw nearer.
Co-host or Guest:To God, so he will draw nearer to us.
David Spoon:James 4, 8.
Co-host or Guest:Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
Co-host or Guest:And that, my friends, is the answer to everything.
David Spoon:More of him, every issue, ever.
Co-host or Guest:More of the Lord.
David Spoon:That's the key.
David Spoon:All right, we will open up with prayer.
David Spoon:I think it's a good idea to open up for prayer as the nation has made its transition and you know, there'll be some ups and downs that take place, but let's pray that the Lord will be the influencer upon our current leaders.
David Spoon:Can we do that?
David Spoon:All right, let's get ready.
David Spoon:Express and extend your faith with mine.
David Spoon:Don't close your eyes if you're driving.
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:We thank you and praise you, we worship you, we acknowledge you.
David Spoon:You are the ruler in the affairs of men.
David Spoon:It's not hard for us to figure out, Lord, we just got to read your word.
David Spoon:Just look at what Nebuchadnezzar says.
David Spoon:There's no doubt about it, you're in charge.
David Spoon:You can read it in the book of Acts, we can read it in the book of Daniel, we can read it in the book of Isaiah, we can read it in the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
David Spoon:We can read it in any book and find out you're in charge.
David Spoon:And so now, Lord, we're having in our country that transition, that change.
David Spoon:And we are absolutely coming before you and asking that it would be your influence, your Holy Spirit, your wisdom that would fall through Jesus Christ on our leaders.
David Spoon:Lord, they're probably not going to do everything perfect.
David Spoon:We kind of know that.
Co-host or Guest:But give them wisdom and give them.
David Spoon:Grace to do the best they can do.
David Spoon:And not for selfish reasons, but to be servants of the people.
David Spoon:Because all those offices they hold actually have the title of minister, which means servant.
David Spoon:So allow them to operate with the servant spirit, because that is what those positions call for.
David Spoon:And not to be thinking of themselves.
Co-host or Guest:First, but others and the welfare of others.
David Spoon:Let it be your kingdom, thy kingdom.
Co-host or Guest:Come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Co-host or Guest:Help us in our country with that.
Co-host or Guest:We commit to praying for our leaders.
Co-host or Guest:Let them be sensitive to you, all of them, and not be so selfish and so self centered that they refuse to listen to God.
Co-host or Guest:We hope for them all, pray for them all, believe you for them all that their steps be ordered.
Co-host or Guest:And have mercy on our country.
Co-host or Guest:Forgive us for the dumb things we have done as a country and pour grace upon us for some of the wounds.
Co-host or Guest:We pray that in Jesus name, amen and amen.
David Spoon:Okie dokie artichokies.
David Spoon:All right, so here we go.
David Spoon:We're gonna get right into our text again.
David Spoon:If you wanna reach out to us.
David Spoon:Totally, totally awesome.
David Spoon:Totally able to.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Davidemustincrease.org we are actually in Titus for those who do not know.
David Spoon:And we are in chapter two and we're picking it up in verse nine.
David Spoon:And right, true to form, here's what we're gonna do.
David Spoon:We're gonna go right into the Word.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because the word of God is perfect.
David Spoon:The law of the Lord is perfect, able to restore the soul.
David Spoon:And if you believe that God created the universe, but you don't believe that he can write a book, your faith is weak.
David Spoon:Get it, get it, get it.
David Spoon:Okay, get it.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:Titus 2, 9.
David Spoon:Slaves.
David Spoon:In other translations it'll say bondservant slaves are to submit to their masters in everything and to be well pleasing.
David Spoon:Not talking back or stealing, but demonstrating utter faithfulness so they may adorn the teaching of God our Savior in everything.
David Spoon:We're touching on a subject that people often freak out about.
David Spoon:What's funny is they didn't freak out this way 50 years ago.
David Spoon:It's really more since DEI and woke culture and all those other goofy things came around that this stuff has become difficult for people to embrace.
David Spoon:I just don't get it.
David Spoon:Oh wait, I know what it is.
David Spoon:It's the continuation of sin that's perverting people's thought processes.
David Spoon:Here's what we're gonna say.
David Spoon:You know, can't say much about it because this is the word.
David Spoon:It says slaves, also called bond servants.
David Spoon:Also, by the way, we are called the slaves of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:Ain't nobody taking that back.
David Spoon:Are you taking that back?
David Spoon:Because if you're not his slave, he's not your Lord.
David Spoon:If he's not your Lord, you better get some really interesting fire resistant pants because it ain't going to go well.
David Spoon:And so we dive into this and we're just going to be honest.
David Spoon:The biblical being biblical, diligently, careful studying and rightly dividing the word of truth.
David Spoon:The slave's word is also called bondservants.
David Spoon:And they are to submit to their masters.
David Spoon:Let's understand this before we get any weirder in the process.
David Spoon:This is different from the slavery that this early nation embraced.
David Spoon:This is different from that institution.
David Spoon:In fact, Old Testament slavery, it was the death penalty if you kidnapped somebody and made them a slave.
David Spoon:Yeah, nobody's going to talk about that.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Well, because it doesn't fit their narrative.
David Spoon:Too bad.
David Spoon:Here's what it is in this case, it's slaves, bondservants, what they're told to do is be submissive, be surrendered in their connection to their masters in everything.
David Spoon:And again, I want to make sure you understand this is a different form of slavery than the abuses that took place in the beginning of our country.
David Spoon:This is more of an employment structured situation.
David Spoon:It was voluntary and it was willful.
David Spoon:And the slaves or the bond servants of those times owned homes.
David Spoon:They had raised families.
David Spoon:They owned multiple homes by the way.
David Spoon:They raised families completely different than what the spirit is.
David Spoon:That took over some very, very ridiculous.
Co-host or Guest:People for a very, very long time.
David Spoon:But again, that's what happens when people are not connected to Jesus.
Co-host or Guest:They have perverted thinking systems.
Co-host or Guest:It's just the truth.
David Spoon:There's five things that are listed for these bond servants to do and I'm going to get to that.
David Spoon:But we do have somebody on the phone and we want to give them an opportunity to share what's going on in their heart and mind.
David Spoon:So let's send them on through.
Co-host or Guest:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David, who am I talking to?
Caller:Hi David, this is Roslyn and Robert.
David Spoon:Hi Rosalind and Robert.
David Spoon:How are ya?
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:Hi Robert.
Caller:We're hanging in there.
Caller:I wanted to ask for prayer.
Caller:Today's my birthday.
David Spoon:It is, it's your birthday.
David Spoon:Are you 25 again?
David Spoon:Sure.
David Spoon:Wow.
Caller:It kind of continuation from last week when we were talking with Sergio and everybody trying to help each other for whatever reason.
Caller:Yesterday was really difficult and then today started a little bit rough.
Caller:And I guess my prayer is, you know, I, I always think of it as, you know, when you, you see people with their kids and the kids are like on a little leash and I always pray for God to keep my leash shorter and shorter and I think I need to change it to.
Caller:Have you seen people on like this three legged race where they're tied together?
Caller:That's what I want.
Caller:I just want God to tie me to him so I can't go far away because it's like we were talking about how feelings lie and I don't know how to turn the feelings off.
Caller:So I can just stay in the truth.
Caller:But that's kind of what I want, because I don't.
Caller:I don't want to get confused, and I don't want to get into those sad, difficult places where I feel like God's a million miles away and I don't know how to get back there.
Caller:And so I just want to stay with God.
Caller:And that's on my prayer request.
David Spoon:Okay, so we're going to pray for you first.
David Spoon:We're going to have to wish you a happy birthday, because it's just.
David Spoon:It's just.
Co-host or Guest:It's just what we have to do, and I think you understand.
David Spoon:So go ahead, Jacob, and give her that phenomenal rendition on the piano of Happy Birthday.
David Spoon:Happy birthday to you, Rosalind Happy birthday to you, Rosalyn.
David Spoon:Oh, yeah, There you go.
David Spoon:All right, so now you got a special happy birthday song that'll put some smiles in people's lives.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:What you said is excellent.
David Spoon:Let's just talk about that just for a split second.
David Spoon:Then we're going to pray for you.
David Spoon:So what people tend to do is they tend to walk either in front of God, which is really, really, really, really bad, because they don't know what's up and coming, and God does, or they walk behind him, so far behind him that they're not close enough to grab him.
David Spoon:And what you're saying is, I'd rather walk side by side.
David Spoon:I'd rather have my legs pegged and close versus being too far in front or too far in back.
David Spoon:I'd rather have him be in that statement, a helpmate, one that walks alongside and helps me and guides me and is with me so closely.
David Spoon:And the real answer to feelings, it's not that you deny your feelings, you never deny your feelings, but you don't give them as much mind weight as you give the truth.
David Spoon:And that's where people make that mistake, is feelings are very real, should not be denied.
David Spoon:But there are times where feelings are often misleading.
David Spoon:That's why Jeremiah 17:5 says, the heart is abundantly wicked, or 17:9, it's abundantly wicked.
David Spoon:Who can know it?
David Spoon: And that's why if you eat: Co-host or Guest:God, but it doesn't change the love of God.
David Spoon:That just tells you how feelings don't always get it right.
David Spoon:But what you're praying for is a great prayer, a great birthday present.
David Spoon:So let's pray that the Lord will allow that.
David Spoon:Move that in your heart and mind for you and for Robert, as a Collective unit.
David Spoon:Okay.
Caller:Okay.
David Spoon:Let's do it.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:We thank you for Robert and for Rosalind, Robert's awesome brother.
David Spoon:We just ask you to bless him and encourage him.
David Spoon:He's going to have to be the one that helps humanly facilitate some of this in this transition, as you are doing it by the power of your spirit.
David Spoon:But, Lord, every one of us goes through this, and you know this about us, that we have this tendency to trust in our heart too quickly as opposed to your truth.
David Spoon:That we lean towards what is the nod and the momentum inside of us at the moment versus standing firm on what you have declared.
David Spoon:So we are asking you, not that Rosa would not have feelings, but that those feelings would be subjected to your biblical truth.
David Spoon:And whether the feelings like it or not, because they won't, it doesn't matter.
David Spoon:This is what you teach us.
David Spoon:Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
Co-host or Guest:That's all of that feeling stuff.
David Spoon:And lean not on your own understanding.
Co-host or Guest:That's our interpretation of all of that, in everything.
David Spoon:Acknowledge him.
Co-host or Guest:Then we look to you, and he will direct your path.
Co-host or Guest:That's your promise.
David Spoon:If we take those things and lay them before you and say, this is how I feel about it, but this is your truth.
Co-host or Guest:Help me to embrace your truth, to.
David Spoon:Breathe your truth, to meditate on your truth, so it breaks the power of.
Co-host or Guest:Some of those deceptive feelings.
David Spoon:We're asking for that for her.
David Spoon:Every one of us knows exactly what this is.
David Spoon:It's a very intense internal struggle.
Co-host or Guest:But because you live inside of us, Lord, and teach us in your word, greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world in you.
Co-host or Guest:And with you, we can do all things and we can prevail.
Co-host or Guest:And you are for her.
Co-host or Guest:And she needs to walk in the.
David Spoon:Power of that truth.
Co-host or Guest:Your word makes it clear.
Co-host or Guest:You are for Rosalind.
Co-host or Guest:And your word in Romans 8:31 says, if God is for us, who can be against us?
Co-host or Guest:Not even ourselves.
Co-host or Guest:Lord, help her to know that, to embrace that, and to walk in the.
David Spoon:Power of the truth.
Co-host or Guest:And let that truth give her the freedom that she needs.
Co-host or Guest:A better year, a great birthday, closer to you.
Co-host or Guest:And as she draws closer, you strengthen her with more of you.
Co-host or Guest:We pray for her and for Robert.
David Spoon:And that they would be blessing one.
Co-host or Guest:Another in this process.
David Spoon:We ask that in the name of.
Co-host or Guest:Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Co-host or Guest:Amen and amen.
Caller:Amen.
Caller:Amen.
Caller:Thank you, David.
David Spoon:You are more than welcome.
David Spoon:Happy birthday.
David Spoon:Always good to have another 25th birthday.
David Spoon:Never complain about it.
David Spoon:Just Enjoy it.
David Spoon:And remember, like, Thanksgiving, no calories count on birthdays.
David Spoon:Just remember that.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:There's no counting calories.
David Spoon:They don't count.
Caller:Okay, so then it's okay for Robert to get me a second birthday cake because he brought home one on Friday, and he said, why not start celebrating early?
Caller:And so then yesterday we discovered we ate all the birthday cake over the course of three days.
Caller:And I said, well, so does this mean we gotta go get another one?
Caller:So I guess you're telling us we gotta go get another one.
David Spoon:I feel that's right.
David Spoon:It could be the Lord.
David Spoon:I'm not going to say it is or isn't.
David Spoon:I'm just going to lean over there and go.
David Spoon:Good plan.
David Spoon:We love you guys.
David Spoon:Good job.
David Spoon:Very, very good.
David Spoon:And everybody's wishing you a happy birthday.
Caller:Thank you.
Caller:We love you, too.
Caller:Thanks, everybody.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:Bye.
Caller:Bye.
Another Caller or Contributor:All right.
David Spoon:Wasn't that fun?
David Spoon:See, that's fun.
David Spoon:That's how you do that.
David Spoon:That's called living Christian life together.
David Spoon:And I will tell you one thing.
David Spoon:We are going to be praying for for Nancy.
David Spoon:Her daughter's going through a needle biopsy already in that process.
David Spoon:So her and her husband are there.
David Spoon:We're going to be praying for them in the second segment right after this.
David Spoon:But before we get there, I want to finish up on this little bit of this teaching because it's important to do, and I want you to catch this.
David Spoon:It's an important thing to understand in this process where we're talking about Titus, and Titus is being communicated to by Paul.
David Spoon:And Paul's like, going, dude, look, it's simple.
David Spoon:You know, all people that are bond servants, the people that are slaves, they need to do this the right way.
David Spoon:They can't be kind of sneaking around, doing weird things.
David Spoon:And so he gives them five things he lists for them to kind of approach it in these five characteristics.
David Spoon:Number one, they're to submit to their masters.
David Spoon:Number two, they're to be well pleasing.
David Spoon:Number three, not talk back.
David Spoon:Number four, no stealing.
David Spoon:And number five, demonstrate a faithfulness.
David Spoon:This would really be difficult for a lot of gen zers to do any of these, let alone four or five of these.
David Spoon:But the idea behind this is these five characteristics are supposed to reflect the teaching of God, our Savior, in everything.
David Spoon:So in other words, these bond servants were supposed to reflect Jesus in how they engage with people, even with people who are in control, even with people who are in control of their work, of what they're doing.
David Spoon:There's supposed to be an attitude that before we serve anybody else in Any other capacity.
David Spoon:And we are called, by the way, to be servants of the Lord.
David Spoon:We serve the Lord God Almighty.
David Spoon:We serve Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
David Spoon:Instead of making this a cultural issue, which is absurd, we make this a kingdom issue.
David Spoon:And the kingdom issue is when we do it unto these other people that are around us, the Lord looks at it as though we are doing it as unto him.
David Spoon:No, you would never settle for any form of abuse.
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:But what you would do is try to walk and live, speak and do honorably before the Lord make that decision.
David Spoon:To be that kind of person in those circumstances, is that always easy?
David Spoon:Not for me.
David Spoon:That's my nice way of putting that.
David Spoon:I don't think so.
David Spoon:But here's the bottom line.
David Spoon:I still want to please God.
David Spoon:I want to be like Jesus.
Co-host or Guest:What did Jesus do?
Co-host or Guest:He came and did everything the Father told him to do.
Co-host or Guest:He said everything he wanted him to say.
Co-host or Guest:He did everything he wanted him to do.
Co-host or Guest:He served everybody he wanted him to serve.
Co-host or Guest:That was the King of Kings that was doing that service.
Co-host or Guest:That was the King of Kings that was washing the feet of those disciples.
Co-host or Guest:If he can do that, we can do that too.
Co-host or Guest:Right?
Co-host or Guest:It's a bigger jump for him than.
David Spoon:It is for us.
Co-host or Guest:Perhaps we should just, you know, be like Jesus.
Co-host or Guest:That's always an interesting idea for Christians to be like Jesus.
Co-host or Guest:Hmm, fascinating, Dave.
Co-host or Guest:Well, thank you very much.
Co-host or Guest:I appreciate that.
David Spoon:Alright, we are basically going to take our break, then we're going to come back.
David Spoon:Don't forget, we're going to pray for Nancy's daughter and her and her husband when we get back.
David Spoon:Plus a few other things.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KWAM 770 true station.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be right back.
David Spoon:What is the David Spoon Experience?
Another Caller or Contributor:All right.
Another Caller or Contributor:Psalm 46, verse 1 through 3.
Another Caller or Contributor:This was the first psalm that was read to me when I went to Bible college.
Another Caller or Contributor:The very first class I ever took in Bible college a bazillion years ago.
Another Caller or Contributor:Let me just say that Psalm 46:1 3.
Another Caller or Contributor:God is our refuge and strength, and ever present help in trouble.
Another Caller or Contributor:Therefore we will not fear.
Another Caller or Contributor:Though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, and the mountains quake with their suffering.
Another Caller or Contributor:Here is something to consider that will be just absolutely a mind blower.
Another Caller or Contributor:How should you and I respond if the earth falls out of its rotation?
Another Caller or Contributor:So my brother in law works for JPL and is actually one of the people that helped write the program that helped Land the Mars rover on Mars.
Another Caller or Contributor:He helped write the computer programming.
Another Caller or Contributor:Okay.
Another Caller or Contributor:He's much smarter than me in those realms.
David Spoon:Okay.
Another Caller or Contributor:About my age, little younger, about my age.
Another Caller or Contributor:Very, very intelligent guy.
David Spoon:Right.
Another Caller or Contributor:And he's the one I always make a joke, you know, what keeps the Earth rotating.
Another Caller or Contributor:And so you'll hear me say that it's on a perfect 23 and a half degree rotation from the moon and from the exact rotation from the sun, or it's three mice chasing a piece of cheese in a wheel, one of those two.
Another Caller or Contributor:So the idea behind that, and that whole story is the Earth is in this absolutely perfect rotation with the moon and the sun.
Another Caller or Contributor:And without it, the Earth would go through a free fall, just even a half a degree off.
Another Caller or Contributor:It's over.
David Spoon:It's all over.
Another Caller or Contributor:I mean, there would be instant tidal waves.
Another Caller or Contributor:Everything would just be upside down.
Another Caller or Contributor:And if that ever happened, you would.
David Spoon:Know that's the end.
Another Caller or Contributor:Although that's not how the end is going to happen.
Another Caller or Contributor:We already know from Scripture.
Another Caller or Contributor:But here's what the psalmist is saying.
Another Caller or Contributor:It doesn't matter how bad it gets.
Another Caller or Contributor:It doesn't matter if your world seems like it's upside down.
Another Caller or Contributor:It doesn't matter if it's out of rotation.
Another Caller or Contributor:It doesn't matter if the mountains fall into the sea.
Another Caller or Contributor:It doesn't matter if the waters roar.
Another Caller or Contributor:God is a refuge, and a refuge is a shelter in a storm.
Another Caller or Contributor:You would first think of a lean to.
Another Caller or Contributor:That is what a shelter in a storm is.
Another Caller or Contributor:So when it's raining, you find a lean to.
Another Caller or Contributor:You put something on a tree, you put it against something else and you get under it.
Another Caller or Contributor:So you're away from that.
Another Caller or Contributor:And it says that God is a refuge, a strength, an ever present help, which means he's helpful today, not just when it's all settled in eternity.
Another Caller or Contributor:And there lies a problem for some Christians is they keep thinking, well, in the sweet by and by, everything will get worked out.
Another Caller or Contributor:Well, that is true, that everything will be completely worked out in the sweet by and by.
Another Caller or Contributor:But God is an ever present help, which means for today and not just for tomorrow.
Another Caller or Contributor:And then the position of the psalmist is therefore, therefore, therefore.
Another Caller or Contributor:In other words, it's a conclusion.
Another Caller or Contributor:So God is our refuge and strength.
Another Caller or Contributor:Okay?
Another Caller or Contributor:So he's our lean to in a storm, he's our ever present help.
Another Caller or Contributor:Therefore I don't have to be afraid.
David Spoon:The David Spoon experience.
