01-16-2025 part 2: Receive, Walk, and Overflow: The Colossians Challenge
David Spoon emphasizes the importance of continuing to walk in faith after initially receiving Christ. He draws from Colossians 2:6-7, highlighting that just as we receive Jesus as Lord, we must also be rooted and built up in Him, establishing our faith and overflowing with thanksgiving. Throughout the episode, David explores the significance of being deeply connected to God and to one another, likening this relationship to a tree with strong roots that support upward growth. He encourages listeners to focus on gratitude and recognize the many blessings in their lives, rather than succumbing to a mindset of complaint. With personal anecdotes and engaging humor, David connects spiritual truths with practical applications, urging us to embrace the fullness of life in Christ.
The latest episode of The David Spoon Experience captivates listeners with its exploration of faith, belonging, and the continuous journey of walking with Christ as highlighted in Colossians 2:6-7. David Spoon dives into the pivotal theme of ‘receiving Christ Jesus as Lord’ and stresses the importance of not only beginning the Christian journey with faith but also maintaining that faith through life’s ups and downs. He uses vivid metaphors of being rooted and built up to illustrate how believers can grow deeper in their spiritual lives while also reaching higher in their relationship with God. This dual growth is essential for a stable and fruitful Christian life, where faith serves as both the foundation and the fuel for spiritual advancement.
The episode shines a light on the necessity of gratitude, as Spoon encourages his audience to overflow with thankfulness. This concept of thankfulness becomes a recurring thread throughout the discussion, asserting that recognizing God’s love and provision transforms one’s outlook on life. Spoon artfully challenges the listeners to shift their focus from complaints to appreciation, underscoring that gratitude is not merely a reaction but a proactive stance that enriches one’s spiritual journey. By sharing personal stories and humorous observations, he makes profound theological insights relatable and engaging, inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys of faith.
As the conversation deepens, Spoon addresses the challenges Christians face in their walk with faith, reminding them that the same grace that initiates their journey is the same grace that sustains them. He reassures listeners that God’s presence and promises remain steadfast, encouraging them to trust in His plans. The episode culminates in a powerful affirmation that believers are chosen and cherished by God, urging them to embrace their identity and live out their faith with confidence and joy. With a blend of humor, personal reflection, and biblical teaching, this episode serves as both an encouragement and a call to action for all who are navigating their spiritual paths.

David Spoon:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.
David Spoon:It's Expository Thursday.
David Spoon:Expository Thursday.
David Spoon:So we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the Book of Colossians.
David Spoon:We travel to understand what things the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truths in our lives.
David Spoon:Back to Colossians, picking it up in chapter two, verse six.
David Spoon:This is amazing stuff.
David Spoon:Therefore, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, that's what verse six says.
David Spoon:That's what the text says.
David Spoon:What's amazing is some people mock this.
David Spoon:They don't understand.
David Spoon:They think it's disrespectful or disingenuous or bizarre to say we receive Christ.
David Spoon:That's absurd.
David Spoon:We do receive Jesus Christ in our hearts by faith.
David Spoon:We receive Jesus Christ as Lord in our lives, as many as received Him.
David Spoon:To them he gave authority to be the sons of God.
David Spoon:John 1:12.
David Spoon:Next.
David Spoon:But it's not just a matter of starting with Jesus, and that is the key, but it's also a matter of continuing with Jesus.
David Spoon:The belief that we have in Jesus starts the ball rolling, but we have to maintain that same belief.
David Spoon:We're encouraged to continue to walk in him, rooted and built up in Him.
David Spoon:That means that we have to go deeply grounded in Jesus as well as building upon Jesus in order to properly be established in faith.
David Spoon:And finally, the last half of verse seven often escapes people.
David Spoon:He makes the declaration that we're supposed to be overflowing with thanksgiving.
David Spoon:So let's keep in mind every victory acknowledged.
David Spoon:Let's remember that God works all things out for good.
David Spoon:Let's recall that he chose us in the first place, that he loves us, that he keeps us.
David Spoon:Let's remember that God keeps us in his mind.
David Spoon:And we ought to be overflowing with thanksgiving because of all these great things God has done, is doing and will do for us.

David Spoon:And I'm like, I'm lost.
David Spoon:And then 10 seconds she comes in, here it is.
Jamin Jaco:I'm like, okay, yeah, you asked me.
Jamin Jaco:And I was like, I don't know.
Jamin Jaco:I don't even know my ABCs.

David Spoon:Very, very proud of you.
David Spoon:I'm very, very glad that you're a part of all this.
David Spoon:All right, let's get into this whole thing.
David Spoon:Why in the universies?
David Spoon:I don't know what universities is, but it's kind of funny.
David Spoon:Why would you reach out to.
David Spoon:Why would you call us?
David Spoon:Why would you text us?
David Spoon:Why would you email us?
David Spoon:It could be for a praise report.
David Spoon:Share it.
David Spoon:People, they hesitate to share praise reports because they're not sure how it's going to be received or how it's going to come out.
David Spoon:Stop worrying about that.
David Spoon: Luke: David Spoon:Let the Lord take care of it.
David Spoon:Just share what he's done.
David Spoon:He'll take care of the rest.
David Spoon:Remember, I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God, not how you present it.
David Spoon:The power is in the Gospel itself.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:If you have a testimony, share.
David Spoon:If you've got a prayer request, bring it.
David Spoon:By bringing it, we will join you in your struggle.
David Spoon: Romans: David Spoon:Paul said, Join me in my struggle by praying for me.
David Spoon:Can't make it any clearer than that.
David Spoon: Romans: David Spoon:Additionally, you can share just something Scripture, maybe something the Lord's given you.
David Spoon:Something's giving you some really great insight in phenomenal, or he's just blessed you with it.
David Spoon:Awesome.
David Spoon:Maybe you got an answer to trivia.
David Spoon:Let's see if you can start off with this one.
David Spoon:Your reference point on this One is Matthew 6:21.
David Spoon:Matthew 6:21.
David Spoon:In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, For where your treasure is, there your will be also.
David Spoon:Got to fill in the blank.
David Spoon:I think you guys can figure that out.
David Spoon:Sermon on the Mount Jesus said, where your treasure is, there will be your what?
David Spoon:Also, what is that?
David Spoon:If you think you know, reach out to us and give us a call.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or.
David Spoon:Or you can send an email, David that he must increase.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Again, just a reminder, tomorrow will be an awesome an awesome replay.
David Spoon:Because I'm spending time with family.
David Spoon:Yay.
David Spoon:I'm really glad because Noel's birthday was last weekend.
David Spoon:But coming in last weekend would have been a mess.
David Spoon:And I don't know how they knew ahead of time.
David Spoon:So they set it all up to come in this weekend.
David Spoon:How did they know ahead of time that it was going to be a snowy mess?
David Spoon:They haven't figured that out yet.
David Spoon:I think they just decided to come in afterwards because it was easier or something.
David Spoon:But the bottom line is we're all going to have a good time together.
David Spoon:It should be a lot of fun.
David Spoon:I even had to, believe it or not, I had to clean off our barbecue because I think there might be some stakes in our future.
David Spoon:It's all I'm going to say.
David Spoon:I'm going to leave it right there.
David Spoon:I'm not going to go anywhere else with.
David Spoon:That's all I got for you.
David Spoon:But I did spend some time cleaning it.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:Somebody is, in fact, ready.
David Spoon:I do want to make sure that you guys are on top of it.
David Spoon:By the way, Mrs.
David Spoon:Corey wants to know, is Bert feeling better?
David Spoon:Bert is feeling so much better.
David Spoon:He's like, almost 100%.
David Spoon:He's like, 98% better.
David Spoon:So thank you, everybody, for praying for Burt.
David Spoon:Burt.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:He's our little Burt.
David Spoon:Burt guy.
David Spoon:All right, our trivia question again.
David Spoon:You're like, how do you just keep going.
David Spoon:If I told you that, you would cry.
David Spoon:Sermon on the Mount.
David Spoon:Jesus said, where your treasure is, there will be blank also.
David Spoon:What is that?
David Spoon:And we have somebody on the line.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Hey, Shabbat Shalom in advance.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Enjoy your Shabbat with your family.
David Spoon:Thank you, my brother.
David Spoon:Thank you.
David Spoon:How are things?
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Things are good.
David Spoon:Good.
David Spoon:I'm glad to hear that.
David Spoon:It's always good.
David Spoon:See, so a lot of people call.
David Spoon:It's always bad.
David Spoon:It's always bad.
David Spoon:It's always.
David Spoon:It's not always bad.
David Spoon:I mean, the Lord's always doing many, many things.
David Spoon:Things are great.
David Spoon:Rejoice in these great things.
David Spoon:Are you ready for this trivia question?
David Spoon:Because I feel in my heart like you are.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Yeah, I'm already doing a cardio, so I'm ready.
David Spoon:That was great.
David Spoon:Towards the answer in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, where your treasure is, there will be what also?
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Cardio.
David Spoon:Your cardio.
David Spoon:Your heart.
David Spoon:Your heart.
David Spoon:That is cor.
David Spoon:Your cardio.
David Spoon:There will be your cardio also.
David Spoon:I did my cardio yesterday.
David Spoon:I always get worried because when I'm done, you know, most people get off cardio and they wipe down the machine and they're all like, you know, pumped and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:When I get off the machine, after I've done my cardio, it looks like I just became like a frozen human being.
David Spoon:I don't move for a minute.
David Spoon:I just sit there and go.
David Spoon:I sit there and go, ow, ow.
David Spoon:Oh, what's that?
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:Can I pray for you, my brother?
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Hey, I have a theological question.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Why most people think that Hebrew chapter six is a very difficult chapter, especially verses four to six.
David Spoon:It comes down to the same thing, and I'm glad you asked that question.
David Spoon:And I'll give you a great answer, because it also comes into play in 1 Peter 3, 19, 20.
David Spoon:I mean, you'd be amazed at how many sections there are.
David Spoon:It also comes into play in Galatians, chapter 5.
David Spoon:Here's what it is.
David Spoon:What happened?
David Spoon:I'm just going to tell you why I'm not even gonna address.
David Spoon:I'm gonna tell you what happens.
David Spoon:What happens is people hear different theologies as they're growing up.
David Spoon:They hear different points of view, and many denominations gravitate to those points of view.
David Spoon:In other words, assembly of God will gravitate to a more gifty kind of mentality.
David Spoon:And the Baptist would not typically do that.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:We kinda all know that.
David Spoon:But we're not trying to point fingers.
David Spoon:We're just saying that's just kind of how they lean.
David Spoon:Well, what happens is some people gravitate to one saved, always saved.
David Spoon:And the other people gravitate, nope, nope.
David Spoon:You got to happen every moment, every second.
David Spoon:And it's kind of like the whole premise is by gravitating to one school of thought, it becomes difficult to deal with other passages that don't fit as neatly as the other passages do.
David Spoon:And instead of just saying, well, there's reconciliation here, because obviously this is.
David Spoon:Instead of putting it together, they separate it and say, it's very difficult.
David Spoon:It's very hard.
David Spoon:It's very difficult.
David Spoon:And it's like.
David Spoon:It's very difficult if you're stuck in one line of thought.
David Spoon:It's not very difficult if you say, okay, God knows exactly what he's doing.
David Spoon:This part goes here, this part goes here, this part goes here.
David Spoon:And as much as I understand it, I'll operate with it and try and honor God in it.
David Spoon:But that's where it comes from.
David Spoon:And there's nothing wrong with that in the sense of if they could do it humbly, that's Just typically not how it goes.
David Spoon:It typically is more of a warfare.
David Spoon:It means this.
David Spoon:No, he means this.
David Spoon:No, it means this.
David Spoon:It means this.
David Spoon:I'm of Paul, I'm of Apollos, I'm of Cephas.
David Spoon:It's like I'm of Christ.
David Spoon:And then Paul said, is Christ divided?
David Spoon:It should be we, we, we, not I, I, I.
David Spoon:Does that make sense?
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Yes.
David Spoon:Okay, there you go.
David Spoon:That and $1.50.
David Spoon:And you can buy a half a bagel.
Brother Roger:All right.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Well, actually quarter of a bagel.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:Really?
David Spoon:Just a part of it, actually.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Depends where you buy.
David Spoon:That's a good point.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:There you go, brother.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):All right.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):Thank you, brother.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:God bless you, man.
aller (Shabbat Shalom caller):God bless you too.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:We're going right into our DNA.
David Spoon:So you guys got a pre teaching that's pretty good.
David Spoon:DNA is very important.
David Spoon:What is it?
David Spoon:Building blocks of who we are as Christians.
David Spoon:D stands for Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:If you spend time in Jesus.
David Spoon:If you spend time in the Word of God, not reading because you have to, not praying because you have to, but understanding that prayer and the Word are elements of your relationship with God.
David Spoon:When you pray, you outpour and talk to Him.
David Spoon:When you're reading, he's pouring into you.
David Spoon:You talk back and forth that way.
David Spoon:That's how relationships are developed.
David Spoon:That's the essence of communication, is sharing by receiving and sharing by giving.
David Spoon:In other words, you take it in and you give it out kind of mentality.
David Spoon:That's the core of communication and that's our core to give us the ability to face every single day in partnership with God.
David Spoon:Without that, we are greatly handicapping ourselves.
David Spoon:Don't do that.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:D and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:I think I spent the first 25 minutes talking about that.
David Spoon:You do not ever.
David Spoon:Luke 9:26.
David Spoon:Jesus said, if you're ashamed of me and my words, I'll be ashamed of you.
David Spoon:When I come in the glory of the Father with the angels, it's like, don't do that.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of what?
David Spoon:Jesus?
David Spoon:You don't have to understand every nuance of everything.
David Spoon:Do you trust God?
David Spoon:I mean, you're trusting him with your salvation.
David Spoon:Do you trust he created the universe?
David Spoon:Do you trust he can write a book?
David Spoon:Okay, then.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of what he had to say.
David Spoon:As the world tries to shame people, too bad the world doesn't have a heaven to put you in.
David Spoon:Jesus does.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:That's the end.
David Spoon:So, D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:And a Always be ready.
Jamin Jaco:To serve.
David Spoon:That's a good one, huh?
Jamin Jaco:That might have been the longest you drew it out.
David Spoon:That was a long one right there.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:You're just ready.
David Spoon:I mean, it's just.
David Spoon:There's so many times the scripture says ready.
David Spoon:In fact, if you want to have a really fun Bible study, like just do your own little Bible study real quickly.
David Spoon:Grab a concordance, one that has an exhaustive.
David Spoon:So you give all the information and look up every time it says ready in Matthew, Mark, Luke, in the New Testament, just look up every time it says ready.
David Spoon:That'll be your own Bible study.
David Spoon:It'll blow your mind.
David Spoon:It's just so often.
David Spoon:And we need to be ready to serve.
David Spoon:That means for whatever the Lord wants, we need to have the lamps trimmed.
David Spoon:We need to be like the five wise virgins, not the five foolish ones.
David Spoon:We are ready.
David Spoon:We are prepared.
David Spoon:We got the oil in.
David Spoon:We're ready to go whatever he wants.
David Spoon:When's he going to come and ask?
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:They didn't know.
David Spoon:That was the whole point of the story.
David Spoon:But they were ready and we need to be ready.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:In fact, now that I just thought of this as I was reading Today, in that first Peter 3, it says, Always be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in you.
David Spoon:That's a phenomenal connection to this.
David Spoon:Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you regarding the hope that is in you.
David Spoon:Always be ready for that.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready to serve, to honor the Lord.
David Spoon:We'll take our short break and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truce station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Radio Station Announcer:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:There is this pursuit in people to find happiness.
David Spoon:And we've just been revving up and going through the one person who had the capacity, who had the resources to do whatever he wanted to do in order to find happiness.
David Spoon:We find out that, as Solomon, who writes the book of Ecclesiastes tells us, he tells us all these different things that he tries.
David Spoon:What he's seeking to do is find what is something that drives men, what is something that drives women, what is something that drives children, people, humanity, to just keep going.
David Spoon:When everything seems vain and everything seems meaningless, or everything seems frustrating and so he goes through.
David Spoon:Because his resources are unlimited, if you'll keep that in mind.
David Spoon:He goes through a whole litany of things.
David Spoon:He goes through searching in through knowledge and wisdom.
David Spoon:Talks about that in Ecclesiastes 1, 12, 14, finds out that's not the answer.
David Spoon:He does it in partying and drinking wine.
David Spoon:I lived in Temecula wine country, part of wine country in California.
David Spoon:Solomon had more wine than these people could ever dream of.
David Spoon:He talks about that in Ecclesiastes 2, 1:3.
David Spoon:He talks about building a house, personal accomplishments, doing a garden.
David Spoon:He had artistic works involved.
David Spoon:Everything you can imagine, Solomon was doing.
David Spoon:I mean, he was doing it all.
David Spoon:He was creating gardens.
David Spoon:He had amassed a ton of wealth.
David Spoon:He had high levels of entertainment.
David Spoon:He had male and female singers.
David Spoon:The guy had more sex than any person could ever even imagine.
David Spoon:And he had superiority and control.
David Spoon:And he gets to Ecclesiastes 2.
David Spoon:And when he gets to Ecclesiastes 2, 10 and 11, he says, when I surveyed all that my hands had done and had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless.
David Spoon:A chasing after the wind.
David Spoon:Nothing was gained under the sun.
David Spoon:He could not reach the level of satisfaction that he was searching for.
David Spoon:That was his conclusion.
David Spoon:He poured resources.
David Spoon:He did this to a lot of stuff.
David Spoon:So he gives two hints, two declarations, I should say, not really hints to help us understand what is the answer to pursuing happiness.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:This is.
David Spoon:I'm telling you, this is the biblical answer.
David Spoon:There's no other.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:Ecclesiastes 2:24 through 26a.
David Spoon:A person could do nothing better than to eat, drink, and find satisfaction in their toil.
David Spoon:This too, I see, is from the hand of God.
David Spoon:For without him who can eat or find enjoyment to the person who pleases God, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness.
David Spoon:The answer, Solomon said, is God has to give it.
David Spoon: , verse: David Spoon:I know there's nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
David Spoon:That each of them may eat and drink and find satisfaction in their toil.
David Spoon:This is a gift from God.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's Ka Men 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Let's see if you guys are on top of this one.
David Spoon:Here is yet another trivia question from the same area.
David Spoon:A good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth.
David Spoon:Got to fill in the blank.
David Spoon:Luke 6.
David Spoon:45.
David Spoon:A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth What?
David Spoon:Luke chapter six, verse 45.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email.
David Spoon:Davidemustincrease.org davidemustincrease.org so your question's pretty straightforward.
David Spoon:A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth.
David Spoon:Hmm, what is that?
David Spoon:Luke 6.
David Spoon:45.
David Spoon:It's something we should all know.
David Spoon:In the meantime, instead of going into history or into the jokes, I wanna go right into the text.
David Spoon:We will wait though, because somebody is calling in and we want to give them that chance.
David Spoon:But I'm just telling you right now, after that, we are firing into the text and it is something else.
David Spoon:In Colossians 2.
David Spoon:6.
David Spoon:I mean, I would put a hat on.
David Spoon:I don't know why you have to put.
David Spoon:Put a hat on.
David Spoon:No, you don't have to put a hat on.
David Spoon:All right, so we're gonna see if somebody wants to answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's check with Jacob.
David Spoon:They do.
David Spoon:You know, I check with Jacob.
David Spoon:You guys don't know.
David Spoon:But we have these signals and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:He's like, hand signals?
David Spoon:Yeah, it's like you're like a third base coach.
David Spoon:What does that mean?
David Spoon:Swing.
David Spoon:Okay, somebody is ready to answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Speaker G:Hi, Dr.
Speaker G:David.
Speaker G:This is Joanne.
Speaker G:To answer the trivia.
David Spoon:Hi, Joanne, how are ya?
Speaker G:Fine.
Speaker G:I'm loving the show.
Speaker G:I'm driving.
Speaker G:Well, I pulled off for a minute to answer, but I didn't get to look it up.
Speaker G:But I think I know the answer.
David Spoon:Oh, so you're going.
David Spoon:You're doing a little bit of a throw here.
David Spoon:We're gonna give it a shot, right?
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right, let me set it up for you.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Now, all the punctuations might help you.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:Here's your trivia question.
David Spoon:A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what?
David Spoon:Luke 6.
David Spoon:45.
Speaker G:Is it good things?
David Spoon:Yes, that is correct.
David Spoon:Yes.
Speaker G:Oh, yes.
David Spoon:Whatever that could be.
David Spoon:Goodness.
David Spoon:The goodness stored in his heart.
David Spoon:Good things.
David Spoon:Good.
David Spoon:The whole point was a good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good.
David Spoon:That's the key to it.
David Spoon:So that's the key element in Luke 6:45 is it's good.
David Spoon:It's good because the Lord working good in our lives.
David Spoon:So a good man who's before the Lord has good treasure in there.
David Spoon:And then when it comes forth from his heart, it's just good.
David Spoon:And that's how the Lord operates.
David Spoon:Isn't that cool?
David Spoon:Oh, thank you.
Speaker G:Amen.
Speaker G:And may we all do that and praying for you to have a wonderful time with Noel's family this weekend.
Speaker G:Thank you so much for not going to Aruba.
Speaker G:You better stay here.
David Spoon:I told that to Robin.
David Spoon:I talked to Rob quite a bit.
David Spoon:He's like one of my best friends.
David Spoon:And I said, if I call you from Aruba, you'll know what happened.
Speaker G:For sure.
Speaker G:Anyway, thank you.
Speaker G:We love you and bless you.
Speaker G:Carry on.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Thank you.
David Spoon:God bless you guys.
David Spoon:You be safe.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Excellent.
David Spoon:Excellent call.
David Spoon:Excellent job.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Colossians, Chapter two, verse six.
David Spoon:I want you to hear this.
David Spoon:This is gonna fly in the face of a couple of people.
David Spoon:Not really denominationally wise.
David Spoon:It's more like individual church wise.
David Spoon:Colossians 2.
David Spoon:6.
David Spoon:Therefore, I love that every time he's.
David Spoon:Remember, every time you hear.
David Spoon:Therefore, it means it has to do with the preceding material, right?
David Spoon:And we've already found out from the preceding material that in Christ is hidden all the treasures and the wisdom of knowledge and that he's the mystery of God.
David Spoon:So now verse 6.
David Spoon:Therefore, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him.
David Spoon:Now just stop.
David Spoon:So for a little bit in the church in the last 15 years, there's just been this little swing, this little wave, very small wave by the way, of people going, well, you can't receive Jesus.
David Spoon:You can't receive Jesus.
David Spoon:And it's like what you're saying when you say that is you're in contradiction to Scripture.
David Spoon:It says, just as you have received Christ, Jesus as Lord, in John 1:12, it says, as many as received him.
David Spoon:To them he gave the authority to be the sons of God.
David Spoon:You have to receive.
David Spoon:And people are like, oh, but that's you.
David Spoon:You know, you have to repent.
David Spoon:You have to do this.
David Spoon:You have to do this.
David Spoon:You're missing what Jesus is communicating.
David Spoon:He's knocking on the door of our hearts, and we have to open that door.
David Spoon:By the way, he said that to Christians.
David Spoon:We have to open that.
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:To the church.
David Spoon:We have to open that door to let him in.
David Spoon:That's what he says.
David Spoon:Knocking on the door of your heart.
David Spoon:Open up, man.
David Spoon:Open and what happens for a lot of Christians.
David Spoon:I'll get back to the receiving part in a second.
David Spoon:But what happens from a practical application is many of us have acknowledged, surrendered, received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior in most areas we say in our life, but some of us will hold back some of those areas.
David Spoon:And the Lord's still knocking on the door of our heart saying, open up this door too.
David Spoon:Because there is not one area of your life that Jesus doesn't want to be in.
David Spoon:And that's the key that's critical.
David Spoon:And here's what's interesting about the text.
David Spoon:It says, just as you have received Christ, which, by the way, one of the words for received is welcomed, which is just in the Greek.
David Spoon:It's just magnificent.
David Spoon:When you've received Christ, Jesus is Lord, continue to walk in him.
David Spoon:So let's understand something.
David Spoon:When you say yes to Jesus, it is the moment when you acknowledge.
David Spoon:And whether that's you threw your face down on the ground, or like me, where I said, sure, that sounds great, and let's see what happens.
David Spoon:And I'm for it.
David Spoon:And then the Lord started working in my heart.
David Spoon:Whether it's that way, whether it's dramatic repentance, whether it's an outpouring of a miracle that takes place, or whether it's after deep study and conclusion and reasonings, whatever that is.
David Spoon:Okay, awesome.
David Spoon:Once you have made that call, once you have made that decision, once you have made that yield, once you have made that acceptance, once you've done it.
David Spoon:By the way, that's another word for the Greek received is accept.
David Spoon:Once you've done that, you are initiating what you must maintain.
David Spoon:And by that I mean this.
David Spoon:Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him.
David Spoon:That saving faith that you said yes to Jesus is the same faith you hold onto all the way through.
David Spoon:That's the security.
David Spoon:Didn't you see what people are doing is they're like, well, once saved, always saved.
David Spoon:Well, if somebody says yes to Jesus and then starts saying no, no, no, no, and has no faith and no recognition, that initial faith wasn't genuine, it wasn't real.
David Spoon:Cause once you said yes to Jesus, if he's really in, you just continually say yes to Jesus.
David Spoon:That saving faith you started with is the saving faith.
David Spoon:You stay in.
David Spoon:It doesn't change.
David Spoon:So I want to make sure everybody's getting that, that the way you started off in the Lord, the way you started in the Lord, is the way you continue.
David Spoon:That's why in 1 Corinthians 15, it says the gospel that saves you and keeps you.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because it's the same.
David Spoon:It's the same gospel that saves you and keeps you.
David Spoon:It's the same thing.
David Spoon:And the Lord is trying to get this into our hearts and minds, that act of faith.
David Spoon:What does it say in John 3:16?
David Spoon:What's it say?
David Spoon:For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever should believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting faith.
David Spoon:You don't have to do something different once you're saved.
David Spoon:You have to have the same faith, not the same innocence.
David Spoon:I know what most people think.
David Spoon:Well, I used to believe, and then everything was just like perfect and rosy.
David Spoon:And then I started blowing it.
David Spoon:That's not what he's saying.
David Spoon:That faith that you said.
David Spoon:Yes, that's what's got to be the same.
David Spoon:Yes, Lord.
David Spoon:Yes, Lord.
David Spoon:Even though I'm a mess, Lord, in fact, I think it's more honest to say as you're getting older, as in Christianity, not only do I still say yes, I'm more amazed that you still love me.
David Spoon:But yes, Lord, Yes, Lord.
David Spoon:Yes, Lord.
David Spoon:And continually saying yes, that's what the Lord calls us to.
David Spoon:That's what he's talking about.
David Spoon:Therefore, just as you receive Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him.
David Spoon:Just keep doing it.
David Spoon:And we've talked about a thousand Are you going to be perfect?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:That's what grace is for.
David Spoon:Because we're not perfect.
David Spoon:But that same grace that you started with is the same grace that you stay in.
David Spoon:It doesn't change.
David Spoon:That was, by the way, the entire reason why Paul wrote Galatians for that exact point right there.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:Started in faith.
David Spoon:Stay right there in that faith.
David Spoon:That goofy little yes, Jesus faith.
David Spoon:That's what keeps you.
David Spoon:Get it?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:We'll take a short break, then we'll come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Radio Station Announcer:The David Spoon Experience what is the David Spoon Experience Is because heaven is.
David Spoon:Not some statue esque place where people go there and then freeze.
David Spoon:Wait, I'm in heaven.
David Spoon:I'm standing.
David Spoon:Nope, I can't sit.
David Spoon:Wait, no, I'm in heaven.
David Spoon:I'm sitting.
David Spoon:No, wait, I can't stand.
David Spoon:Where does that kind of concept of heaven come from?
David Spoon:Well, is he standing or is he sitting?
David Spoon:I'm going to go with he's doing both.
David Spoon:He's standing on this one.
David Spoon:He's sitting on this one over there.
David Spoon:He could be doing a Scooby Doo act.
David Spoon:I don't know what he's doing.
David Spoon:All I know is that heaven is not about frozen people that don't move.
David Spoon:And if we don't get a better handle on what heaven is, we're gonna lose our communication of our hope to a hope that's based on 72 virgins, which guarantees you after 73 times.
David Spoon:It's not the fun it was the 72 times.
David Spoon:It's so ridiculous.
David Spoon:And that's the hope we're not winning on.
David Spoon:You have got to be kidding me.
Radio Station Announcer:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the truce station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's K double amen.
David Spoon:770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Where things are flying by today.
David Spoon:Here's your trivia question.
David Spoon:Exodus, how many chapters?
David Spoon:Exodus, how many chapters in the book of Exodus?
David Spoon:That is your question.
David Spoon:If you think, you know.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or send an email davidemousincrease.org how many chapters are in the book of Exodus?
David Spoon:Just straightforward.
David Spoon:In the meantime, I gotta send you up to the website, which I haven't done yet today because I'm really busy.
David Spoon:Bad at that.
David Spoon:Here it is in a nutshell.
David Spoon:Proverbs 3, 9.
David Spoon:Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.
David Spoon:That is God's awesome way of saying, never give God leftovers.
David Spoon:That's wrong.
David Spoon:Don't do that, okay?
David Spoon:And I mean it.
David Spoon:Whether you give to us or not, that's not the relevant point in this passage.
David Spoon:The point in this passage is you don't give God your leftovers.
David Spoon:You don't look in the wallet and go, I can give God a 5 or a 20.
David Spoon:Don't do that.
David Spoon:God has never given you the backside of anything.
David Spoon:He's never given you leftovers.
David Spoon:He's only given you the best.
David Spoon:So when you give, do it that way.
David Spoon:Sure, we want you to contribute to the ministry.
David Spoon:Of course.
David Spoon:That's how we function.
David Spoon:That's how we exist.
David Spoon:Some months are better than others.
David Spoon:It's been a very, very tough four weeks for us.
David Spoon:But we believe the Lord is not just providing, but is going to provide.
David Spoon:We're expecting to receive, get ready to receive.
David Spoon:If you can't participate in that, we get it.
David Spoon:We're not even in the slightest upset about that.
David Spoon:In fact, we would say you're the very person.
David Spoon:We want you to go to the website and if there's a book that you want, tell us.
David Spoon:We'll get it for you.
David Spoon:We'll make sure it happens.
David Spoon:But you can all be praying, and that's what I'm asking for.
David Spoon:I don't ask a ton, but I ask that, that you join us in our struggle by praying for us.
David Spoon:And then there's.
David Spoon:On the website, there's just almost 5,000 hours of podcasts, plus articles, plus videos, plus audios, plus articles.
David Spoon:Just so many things.
David Spoon:And then there's a goofy thing in there, too.
David Spoon:And I'm not going to tell you what that is because I think that's funny.
David Spoon:And I'd like to see if people can discover it.
David Spoon:Please check it out.
David Spoon:Consider it.
David Spoon:Go to it.
David Spoon:Think about it all at the website hemustincrease.org Prayer request.
David Spoon:Hemostincrease.org Praise report.
David Spoon:Hemostencrease.org Looking to give to this ministry.
David Spoon:He must increase.org Confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:He must increase.org hemustincrease.org what are you supposed to be, some kind of a cosmonaut?
David Spoon:No, we're exterminators.
David Spoon:Somebody saw a cockroach up on 12.
David Spoon:That's got to be some cockroach.
David Spoon:Bite your head off, man.
David Spoon:I might have to watch that movie again.
David Spoon:It's been a little while since I've seen that.
David Spoon:All right, we do have somebody ready to answer trivia questions, so let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Brother Roger:It's brother Roger again.
David Spoon:Oh, no, it isn't.
David Spoon:Is it Thursday?
David Spoon:It is.
David Spoon:Hi, Brother Roger again.
David Spoon:How are ya?
Brother Roger:I'm doing well.
David Spoon:Okay.
Brother Roger:Got an update, but I'm gonna answer the trivia first.
David Spoon:Okay, Phenomenal.
David Spoon:Let's do this.
David Spoon:I'll set you up on the trivia, answer that, and then you'll have the opportunity to go from there and share what's going on.
David Spoon:Okay, here we go.
David Spoon:How many chapters are in the book?
David Spoon:Exodus.
Brother Roger:Very important number in the Bible.
Brother Roger:40.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Amundo, sir, you are right.
David Spoon:And it is a very important number in the Bible.
David Spoon:So that was a very, very good.
David Spoon:And I was going to give hints, but then I thought, you know, what for that they can look it up.
Brother Roger:That one I knew.
David Spoon:Yeah, There you go.
David Spoon:Very good.
David Spoon:Yeah, Very, very good.
David Spoon:All right, talk to me on some updates about you, the wife and everything in life.
David Spoon:What's going on.
Brother Roger:Okay.
Brother Roger:All right.
Brother Roger:Well, my wife did have her operation.
Brother Roger:She's at home resting and healing with the Lord's help.
Brother Roger:They.
Brother Roger:They say they got all the cancer out, but they got to do a mammogram in about 10 days, I guess.
David Spoon:Okay.
Brother Roger:But she is at home, got her breast procedure done, and everything's looking good.
Brother Roger:We feel the prayers of the prayer warriors of the, the church, the radio station, friends, relatives, we feel everyone's prayer.
Brother Roger:I really do feel their prayers.
Brother Roger:I know people think that's just crazy to say that you feel something, but I do.
David Spoon:Amen, brother.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:That's a big deal.
David Spoon:And we're gonna.
David Spoon:Of course we're gonna keep praying, but as that 10 days, they'll double check and then they'll have to check every so often going forward.
David Spoon:And so my first main question for you is two things.
David Spoon:One, how.
David Spoon:How is your wife doing overall?
David Spoon:How's she doing?
David Spoon:And the overall thing, how's she doing?
Brother Roger:Well, overall?
Brother Roger:She's doing well.
Brother Roger:She just gotta get her strength.
David Spoon:Okay.
Brother Roger:She needs some more strength and she needs.
Brother Roger:I don't know, I'd say we both need a little bit more wisdom on how to do things.
Brother Roger:You know, we're not medical people.
David Spoon:Gotcha.
Brother Roger:You know, you know, and the timing of medicines.
Brother Roger:And there's some treat.
Brother Roger:Some things they taught us to do in the hospital, but we're, you know, we're still struggling with them procedures, but I think we got it.
Brother Roger:It's just wisdom.
Brother Roger:I need wisdom and everything.
Brother Roger:Finances.
David Spoon:Gotcha.
Brother Roger:You know, this isn't an easy task.
Brother Roger:Get through the financial part, but let me, let me.
Brother Roger:Go ahead, Go ahead, go ahead, pray.
David Spoon:Well, I'm going to pray for you because I want to pray for strength, for wisdom, for finances.
David Spoon:Because you guys have been through a lot.
David Spoon:And it should be said that, in other words, this is nothing bizarre or weird.
David Spoon:It's like, look, that's a lot to go through.
David Spoon:It's a lot, Roger.
David Spoon:And it's important to understand that people recognize that they love you through that and they want you to, you know, they want you to pull up and do better in the sense of not that you're doing bad, but just to be better, to feel better, to maybe get a handle on some things and kind of get on top of it instead of behind it.
David Spoon:And so we want to just pray that God will help you do that, because he will.
David Spoon:And that's the key.
Brother Roger:I want to make the right steps.
David Spoon:Yep, yep.
David Spoon:That's the right way to be.
David Spoon:That's the right spirit to have.
David Spoon:So let's pray over you.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Father, we come before youe right now.
David Spoon:First of all, we thank you for Roger's wife that you brought her through that process, Lord, because some people, they don't get through it, Lord.
David Spoon:And you've given grace to her, you've given grace to Roger, you've given grace to their family.
David Spoon:And so we just want to say, Father, thank you in the name of Jesus for your graciousness that you've poured into their family.
David Spoon:And, Lord, anytime somebody goes through a surgery, it's so draining.
David Spoon:It's very difficult.
David Spoon:Lord, we are asking that there would be a strengthening not just for her, but also for Roger, because he needs to have a comeback energy level Two.
David Spoon:And so we're asking you to bless that family with a.
David Spoon:A hop, a skip, a jump kind of push that would help them move forward.
David Spoon:And, Lord, they need wisdom.
David Spoon:They're looking at some of these medical things and they're like, what is this, Lord?
David Spoon:Help them to be patient.
David Spoon:Help them to be comforted for each decision and each thing they come across.
David Spoon:Not to be fretting, but to be trusting and taking it with wisdom slowly and surely.
David Spoon:Make that so comfortable for them, Lord, that it doesn't take away from them.
David Spoon:It doesn't take away from their lives.
David Spoon:And, Lord, they can use some help in finances because it's not an easy time.
David Spoon:It's not easy process.
David Spoon:And Lord, you're the God of resources.
David Spoon:You own it all.
David Spoon:So we ask you to pour that out upon them.
David Spoon:Give them strength to together, give them wisdom together, give them financial graces and blessings together and help this family.
David Spoon:We're asking as their family, we're asking you as our dad, dad, help our brother and sister out.
David Spoon:They need some help.
David Spoon:Step in on the behalf of your other children.
David Spoon:Step in to help them.
David Spoon:And we ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:And amen.
Brother Roger:I would like to add something to all this, something that I have learned.
David Spoon:Okay.
Brother Roger:And it's a.
Brother Roger:It has to.
Brother Roger:Remember I said we don't need theology.
Brother Roger:We need neology.
David Spoon:Yep.
Brother Roger:I got one to add to that.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Fire away.
Brother Roger:We need butt.
Brother Roger:Ology.
David Spoon:You need what?
David Spoon:What was that?
Brother Roger:But ology.
David Spoon:But ology.
Brother Roger:But ology.
Brother Roger:You know, but God.
David Spoon:Yeah, exactly.
David Spoon:I love that.
David Spoon:It's all those little verses in the Bible yet, you know, or.
David Spoon:But.
David Spoon:And you're like going, aha.
David Spoon:You know, there's this little break in this, isn't there?
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:I got you.
David Spoon:I read you loud and clear, bro.
Brother Roger:You know, and that goes right along.
Brother Roger:When we don't seem to think there's a way God will make a way that is right.
Brother Roger:When there don't seem to be a way, God will make a way.
Brother Roger:And I'm standing.
Brother Roger:I'm standing on the verses.
Brother Roger:I'm standing on the promises of God.
Brother Roger:I'm standing on the promises of God.
David Spoon:Amen.
Brother Roger:And I'm going to think I'm going to sing that song until I reach the Golden Gate.
David Spoon:Got it.
David Spoon:That's good.
David Spoon:That's good.
David Spoon:Good job, my brother.
Brother Roger:All right, well, we love you guys and thank you so much for your prayers, your.
Brother Roger:Your show, your teachings, everything that's going on with.
Brother Roger:With you guys.
Brother Roger:I do pray for Your ministry.
Brother Roger:I do pray for the show.
Brother Roger:People that call in, and I love everybody that.
Brother Roger:I mean, this is a new.
Brother Roger:I don't know.
Brother Roger:I guess I found you about three years ago.
Brother Roger:This is a new step for me in growth and in my.
Brother Roger:My walk with the Lord.
Brother Roger:See, my ministry is called Walk in the Lord.
Brother Roger:And I don't never brag on that.
Brother Roger:I'm a minister, but I.
Brother Roger:I am a m.
Brother Roger:A minister.
Brother Roger:I don't have.
Brother Roger:I'm not a pastor, but I have a minister's license.
Brother Roger:And I don't like to brag on that, but I just.
Brother Roger:I thank the Lord that I'm able to call in every once in a while.
Brother Roger:And.
Brother Roger:And.
Brother Roger:And I thank you for your show, because it does.
Brother Roger:I was.
Brother Roger:I was listening to politics and not the message of God, and I got away from politics.
Brother Roger:That's part of my theme this year.
Brother Roger:Overcome the breakthrough.
David Spoon:Amen, brother.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:It's a great, great theme.
David Spoon:Really, really is a great thing.
Brother Roger:All right, we'll see you later.
David Spoon:All right, my brother.
David Spoon:God bless you.
Brother Roger:God bless you.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:All right, so, excellent call by Roger again.
David Spoon:We're just gonna.
David Spoon:We're not gonna take a break, even though the timing's there.
David Spoon:Whatever.
David Spoon:I'm gonna finish this teaching.
David Spoon:This part of the teaching I can't miss.
David Spoon:I just.
David Spoon:I'm not gonna miss it.
David Spoon:Not gonna miss it.
David Spoon:Not gonna miss it.
David Spoon:So I'm just gonna do it.
David Spoon:And if you want, though, I can do three really short jokes first, and then we'll do.
David Spoon:Finish off with teaching.
David Spoon:You want to do that?
David Spoon:That's a great idea, Jacob.
Jamin Jaco:Let's do some jokes.
David Spoon:You like how I set that up?
David Spoon:That's pretty good, right?
David Spoon:All right, here you go.
David Spoon:Now, if you guys don't like this, I can't help you.
David Spoon:I think these are funny.
David Spoon:What is every magician's favorite candy bar?
David Spoon:What is every magician's favorite candy bar?
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Twix.
David Spoon:Like tricks?
David Spoon:Twix.
David Spoon:See?
David Spoon:Twix.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:I thought that was cute.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:What kind of songs are balloons afraid of?
David Spoon:What kind of songs are balloons afraid of?
David Spoon:Pop songs.
David Spoon:Oh, no.
David Spoon:Last and maybe least.
David Spoon:Or not.
David Spoon:What do you give a sick.
David Spoon:Lemon.
David Spoon:Lemonade.
David Spoon:Let's go to the text.
David Spoon:Listen, folks, you're listening to the show.
David Spoon:I mean, I'm not the one making you do this.
David Spoon:All right, here we go back to that Colossians 2, 6.
David Spoon:After we cover that.
David Spoon:Therefore, just as you receive Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, rooted and built up in him, established in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thanksgiving.
David Spoon:So I want you to catch this.
David Spoon:What Paul is communicating.
David Spoon:He's like, okay, just as you received Jesus, you continue.
David Spoon:Just as you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Savior, you continue to walk in him.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:We got that.
David Spoon:We already covered that.
David Spoon:Rooted and built up.
David Spoon:Now, wait a minute, what is that?
David Spoon:Rooted is down.
David Spoon:Built up is up.
David Spoon:Rooted is strength.
David Spoon:That is.
David Spoon:You know, it's like the roots that draw deep into the dirt and they drink the nourishment.
David Spoon:Very powerful, very stabilizing, so that nothing can sway the base or the core over.
David Spoon:We're supposed to grow downward, putting roots in.
David Spoon:And part of that growing roots has to do with fellowship and connection with people and drawing deep into God and letting the depth of your heart be connected to God in every nuance.
David Spoon:You're just being aware and downward in that solid foundational element.
David Spoon:When they build houses, what do they do?
David Spoon:They put in cement footings, and they build the house upon the footings.
David Spoon:It's like that stuff that goes down in the ground is critical.
David Spoon:Critical.
David Spoon:You have to grow down.
David Spoon:You have to be established.
David Spoon:You have to have roots.
David Spoon:That's right, roots.
David Spoon:They've got to be connected to other Christians.
David Spoon:It's got to be connected to some form of fellowship.
David Spoon:It's got to be connected to other people, encouraging and supporting you.
David Spoon:Because Lone Wolf McQuaid was a great movie, but it's a terrible philosophical approach to Christianity.
David Spoon:And part of that root building has to do with not just the depth of view, but the depth of view that drinks in the resources that are right there at your roots with other people.
David Spoon:And not only are we supposed to grow downwardly, we're supposed to grow upwardly.
David Spoon:We're supposed to be rooted, built up.
David Spoon:So you're growing both up and down at the same.
David Spoon:Yeah, you think?
David Spoon:Really?
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:Sometimes you go through those trials.
David Spoon:Let me just say this.
David Spoon:And those trials have a lot more to do with your depth of faith.
David Spoon:And sometimes you get into either a ministry situation or something happens or there's an answer to prayer, and then something's going on and something fantastic comes with it, and there's testament, whatever.
David Spoon:That's kind of like the built up stuff.
David Spoon:Sometimes the built down stuff seems a little harder, but you can't be stable without it.
David Spoon:You can't be stable without the roots.
David Spoon:Can't happen.
David Spoon:So you're only doing is building up.
David Spoon:Boy, you're kind of putting yourself in a tough position.
David Spoon:And he says this, and this is all from these Two verses.
David Spoon:Therefore, just as you receive Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, rooted and built up in him, established in the faith.
David Spoon:Faith not established in the world, not established in doctrine per se.
David Spoon:Well, I guess you could use doctrine a little bit, but it's really being established in the faith.
David Spoon:You got to have an act of faith.
David Spoon:I mean, you just have to have that.
David Spoon:But this is as you were taught, so I should be careful on that statement.
David Spoon:But the last statement is the one I want to key in.
David Spoon:And overflowing with thankfulness.
David Spoon:How many times have you heard Colossians, chapter 2, verse 7, part D taught?
David Spoon:You're thinking, what are you talking about?
David Spoon:Listen, we are supposed to overflow with thankfulness.
David Spoon:I'll just use this illustration, even though nobody wants me to.
David Spoon:But you know I'm going to do it, so it doesn't matter.
David Spoon:Have you ever had a toilet overflow?
David Spoon:Okay, you know what overflowing is, right?
David Spoon:That's supposed to be our thankfulness.
David Spoon:And so if God works everything out for good to those who love him and are called according to his purpose, how can we not be thankful?
David Spoon:An abundance of thank.
David Spoon:Are you kidding?
David Spoon:We're so good at complaining.
David Spoon:That's the problem.
David Spoon:I mean, let's just think that not only did everything work out for good, he chose us.
David Spoon:We talked about just the other day in Romans 8:20, he chose.
David Spoon:He picked us before you did better.
David Spoon:Good.
David Spoon:He picked you.
David Spoon:He voted for you.
David Spoon:He selected you.
David Spoon:In fact, the Scripture says he elected you.
David Spoon:And so, in essence, he really did vote for you.
David Spoon:He loves us.
David Spoon:He didn't just love us in the past.
David Spoon:He loves you right now.
David Spoon:He will love you tomorrow.
David Spoon:How about this?
David Spoon:He keeps us.
David Spoon:He just doesn't let us go.
David Spoon:Even when we run and do dumb things, he's like, get back here.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:You know, it's like, that's what we do.
David Spoon:And this is something I want you to think about.
David Spoon:Think about all the scriptures in the Psalms and the Proverbs in Isaiah.
David Spoon:He keeps us in his mind.
David Spoon:Do you know that?
David Spoon:God is thoughtful of us?
David Spoon:I want you to consider that he's thoughtful.
David Spoon:We are in his mind.
David Spoon:He thinks of us, right?
David Spoon:That's so powerful.
David Spoon:He's thinking of you.
David Spoon:Just grasp that.
David Spoon:He works it all out for good.
David Spoon:He chose us in the first place.
David Spoon:He loves us.
David Spoon:He loved us.
David Spoon:He will always love us.
David Spoon:He's keeping us.
David Spoon:And he remembers us and keeps us in his mind.
David Spoon:How can we not be overflowing with Thanksgiving?
David Spoon:We're so easy to complain.
David Spoon:Not heeding where God says in Malachi, you've wearied me with your words.
David Spoon:What are those words?
David Spoon:Where the Lord said, I love you, and you said, you really love me.
David Spoon:Well, then.
David Spoon:And that's exactly what we're going to find out when we're going to be teaching Malachi.
David Spoon:You're going to find out that's exactly what they did.
David Spoon:If you really do this, you do this, you do this.
David Spoon:It's like that kind of attitude.
David Spoon:It's like what we're supposed to overflow with thankfulness instead of focusing on the things that aren't right, which might be 2, 3, or 4.
David Spoon:How about the 97 things that are?
David Spoon:Maybe we could just be thankful for those.
David Spoon:That's a thought, right?
David Spoon:I just want you to grasp that one picture.
David Spoon:God is thinking of you right now.
David Spoon:Don't you appreciate that?
David Spoon:Always thoughtful of you.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Pretty cool.
David Spoon:All right, folks, we'll be done here.
David Spoon:You have been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
