01-02-25 part 1: Hidden Manna and New Names: Jesus' Promise to Overcomers

The key focus of this podcast episode is centered around the question of whether we have faith in the Lord to thrive in 2025. Dr. David Spoon delves into the importance of being ready to receive God's blessings and guidance, emphasizing that thriving involves growing, moving forward, and being empowered in one's faith journey. He draws lessons from the early church, specifically the church at Pergamos, to illustrate how holding on to the wrong doctrines can lead believers astray. By referencing the stories of Balaam and the Nicolaitans, Dr. Spoon highlights the dangers of compromising one's values and the call to repentance. Listeners are encouraged to engage actively with their faith, reflect on their spiritual readiness, and share their thoughts, prayers, and testimonies throughout the episode.

Dr. David Spoon dives into the importance of having faith to thrive in the upcoming year, 2025. The discussion revolves around the biblical teachings from Revelation, specifically addressing the church at Pergamos and the dangers of compromising beliefs. Spoon emphasizes the need for believers to recognize the enemy's tactics and to remain steadfast in their faith, warning against the doctrines that lead to spiritual stumbling. With humor and insightful commentary, he encourages listeners to share their experiences and prayer requests, fostering a community of support and encouragement.

With a blend of humor and spiritual depth, David Spoon engages his audience in a reflective discussion about faith and its role in their lives, particularly as they look ahead to 2025. Spoon sets the stage for a lively interaction, encouraging calls and messages that reflect the communal aspect of faith. As he navigates through personal anecdotes and biblical references, he emphasizes the importance of remaining rooted in God’s truth, especially in times of uncertainty.

The conversation quickly transitions into a critical examination of Revelation 2:14, where Jesus addresses the church at Pergamos. Spoon elaborates on the implications of this scripture, highlighting the dangers of holding onto doctrines that lead to spiritual compromise. He discusses the doctrine of Balaam, illustrating how it served as a stumbling block for the Israelites and serves as a warning for modern Christians. David Spoon:

Hello, everybody.

David Spoon:

When it's cold outside, I've got.

David Spoon:

Here's what's coming up on today's experience.

David Spoon:

It's Dr.

David Spoon:

Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DDDDD is where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.

David Spoon:

Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.

David Spoon:

But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh.

David Spoon:

And by golly, on the Internet, they're free, so that's the right price.

David Spoon:

The review of the goofy news, which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.

David Spoon:

We hope before this show is over, life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't.

David Spoon:

If we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

David Spoon:

What am I, chopped liver?

David Spoon:

Huh?

David Spoon:

Huh?

David Spoon:

Also, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.

David Spoon:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, local, national and heavenly talk.

David Spoon:

My name is Dr.

David Spoon:

David Spoon.

David Spoon:

I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.

David Spoon:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

David Spoon:

Here is the key to the show.

David Spoon:

We don't know what we're doing.

David Spoon:

We have no idea what's gonna happen, and we don't care.

David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk truth with you.

David Spoon:

So here we go.

David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

David Spoon:

Here we are on Thursday.

David Spoon:

This is the second day of January.

David Spoon:

We'll give this initial statement credit to Rosalind for helping us come up with it.

David Spoon:

The first basic question we're asking you is, do we have fish?

David Spoon:

aith in the Lord to thrive in:

David Spoon:

aith in the Lord to thrive in:

David Spoon:

Here's a simple question based on what we talked about the last time we were all together.

David Spoon:

Are we ready to receive?

David Spoon:

Are we ready to receive?

David Spoon:

That's the question.

David Spoon:

If you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.

David Spoon:

Just reach out and give us a holla.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Well, by golly, and get ready for something new, you'll be talking to Jammin Jacob all right.

David Spoon:

Talking to Jam and Jacob is like spending time relaxing and chillaxin.

David Spoon:

Thank you, David.

David Spoon:

Happy Thursday.

David Spoon:

And this sound effect is for me for not having a new intro in.

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

Nice job on that one.

David Spoon:

That's a great way to start the year.

David Spoon:

That's funny.

David Spoon:

That's almost how the Texas game ended up.

David Spoon:

We'll talk about that later on.

David Spoon:

Excellent job, though.

David Spoon:

And I want you to let you know when you reach out and call, you do get to talk to Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

The only thing we ask is please don't ask Jim and Jacob his life story.

David Spoon:

I mean, we're on the radio, so it kind of moves fast.

David Spoon:

So it's really cool to say hi and bless you and all those other things.

David Spoon:

But don't say, hey, what do you really think about when you connect Star wars and Star Trek?

David Spoon:

And then stop that.

David Spoon:

Don't do that.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Bottom line, though, is if you want to reach out to us, it's a simple thing that you can do.

David Spoon:

And I'm asking you a pretty straightforward question.

David Spoon:

aith in the Lord to thrive in:

David Spoon:

Thriving is just growing and moving forward and advancing and empowering and being strengthened.

David Spoon:

elf, in the Lord to thrive in:

David Spoon:

We want to give you that opportunity to reach out.

David Spoon:

We thank Rosalind for helping us come up with that.

David Spoon:

The elements that you need to be aware of is that you can reach us by phone.

David Spoon:

It's pretty good.

David Spoon:

Now, we have double checked on the airplane paper airplanes coming through the studio.

David Spoon:

It does not appear that they will be able to make it this year either.

David Spoon:

Paper planes unable to get to the studio.

David Spoon:

On the flip side of that, you can always text us if you want to.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Additionally, you can send an email.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

We give you many opportunities to reach out to us, David.

David Spoon:

That's my name.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Or you can send us an email, davidemousincrease.org Again, people say, why do you repeat that?

David Spoon:

And that's because we have new listeners and they need to be made aware of how to reach out to us.

David Spoon:

But why?

David Spoon:

Why would you reach out to us?

David Spoon:

Well, that's pretty simple.

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got a praise report, maybe you've got a testimony, something the Lord has done for you.

David Spoon:

It's marvelous, it's fantastic.

David Spoon:

You know it in your heart, share it.

David Spoon:

You're thinking, why?

David Spoon:

Well, one, it will reinforce it in your own life.

David Spoon:

Two, it will bless your brothers and sisters, and three, it will glorify the Lord, which is the Most important.

David Spoon:

Isaiah 43:7, that we were created for the glory of the Lord.

David Spoon:

That's an opportunity to honor him.

David Spoon:

Maybe you've got a prayer request, you've got something you're dealing with, good, bad or indifferent.

David Spoon:

Not all prayer requests have to be negative.

David Spoon:

There's a real wrong element there.

David Spoon:

The wrong element is, well, you only pray when things are desperate.

David Spoon:

It's like, no, you don't.

David Spoon:

You partner with God in everything, with everything, for everything, to deal with all things, because that's what he wants and that's why he created you.

David Spoon:

So if you've got prayer requests, we'll take our faith, combine it with your faith, we'll bring it to our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

David Spoon:

We'll ask for help from the Holy Spirit, and we'll present that petition before the Lord.

David Spoon:

We'll ask him, we'll present that request, that desire, that need, and we'll lay it at his feet.

David Spoon:

It's an awesome thing to do.

David Spoon:

Additionally, maybe you've got a scripture or some kind of verse or some kind of thing that is going on and you wanted to share it because it really blessed you over this last week.

David Spoon:

It was just really comforting or whatever the case may be.

David Spoon:

Awesome.

David Spoon:

Share it.

David Spoon:

Our goal, Our Bent Hebrews:

David Spoon:

Now, two things to tell you.

David Spoon:

Number one, we actually are on a normal schedule, which means nothing.

David Spoon:

As far as I know.

David Spoon:

It's normal today, tomorrow and for, you know, until the foreseeable future.

David Spoon:

That's what we got going on.

David Spoon:

Just to make you updated or keep you aware, there is a possibility that some of my family, like Julianne, Jared, Addy, Bug, Isaiah, Anthony, Easton Scott and Anna might make their way to the studio in the later part of the show.

David Spoon:

We do not know that for sure, but it may happen.

David Spoon:

So if you come back to the Radio Alpha fulfill and you hear a bunch of things banging around, you'll probably have a good idea what's going on.

David Spoon:

So we will open that door for that because they are going to be returning to their home tomorrow.

David Spoon:

We've had a wonderful stay with them, but they do have a life to live.

David Spoon:

And Jared and Julian have a ministry to get back to, so we will see how that opens up for us.

David Spoon:

All of that.

David Spoon:

Wasn't that fun?

David Spoon:

All of that to say Happy New Year.

David Spoon:

I have put recently on the website the audio of what I shared on the 31st.

David Spoon:

It's about 17 minutes long, and if you haven't heard it and you didn't hear the show on the 31st, it's worth the listen.

David Spoon:

That's all I'm going to say there.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

And what better way to kick in the New Year, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and creatures of all ages and sizes, than to go where we are within the scripture?

David Spoon:

And that, my friends, is in the Book of Revelation, chapter 2, verse 14.

David Spoon:

Revelation, chapter 2, verse 14.

David Spoon:

Here's what Jesus says, but I have a few things against you.

David Spoon:

Ouch.

David Spoon:

But I have a few things against you.

David Spoon:

This is the church at Pergamos, and he just told them some really cool things he has for them.

David Spoon:

Now he's going to talk about a different direction.

David Spoon:

Jesus always acknowledges in our own lives, when things are going the way that he wants them to go, in the sense that we're following, we're walking after him.

David Spoon:

He gives praise, he gives props, but he also gives Correction.

David Spoon:

Verse 14.

David Spoon:

I have a few things against you because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things, sacrifice to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

David Spoon:

Verse 15.

David Spoon:

Thus you have also those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

David Spoon:

Thus you need to repent, or else I will come to you quickly and fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

David Spoon:

What a way to begin the New year.

David Spoon:

Dave, are you gonna make it a fluff piece?

David Spoon:

Nope.

David Spoon:

Just in case you're wondering, itching ears, tingling ears.

David Spoon:

Sorry.

David Spoon:

Get some earwax.

David Spoon:

I can't help you.

David Spoon:

Here we go.

David Spoon:

We're picking it up in Revelation, chapter 2.

David Spoon:

Starting with verse 14.

David Spoon:

We're discussing the church at Pergamos, which is considered a compromising church.

David Spoon:

Doesn't mean everything they do is bad, but they're functioning in ways that are not healthy.

David Spoon:

So we finished talking last time.

David Spoon:

We discussed this last week about doing good things, the church doing good things that they've done.

David Spoon:

But now Jesus is redirecting that group of believers.

David Spoon:

And by the way, it's a group of believers towards what's going on and what's wrong.

David Spoon:

And so in this nicest way you can, I think he goes, I got a few things against you.

David Spoon:

Jesus states that the church is holding on to the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel.

David Spoon:

So we need to explain this just in a little more detail because it's one of many people's favorite stories, truths in the scripture, because it really puts into perspective man's greatness.

David Spoon:

This is the portion where Balak hired Balaam to curse Israel, paid him, gave them money, curse.

David Spoon:

These people must have had quite the reputation, right?

David Spoon:

Guess what?

David Spoon:

It didn't work out.

David Spoon:

As Balaam was going to try and curse Israel, he had a little encounter with an animal called a donkey.

David Spoon:

And God used a donkey to rebuke a prophet.

David Spoon:

Some people are like, well, he was a bad prophet.

David Spoon:

You're missing the point.

David Spoon:

Go.

David Spoon:

God used a donkey to rebuke a prophet.

David Spoon:

Where does that put all of us on the grand scale?

David Spoon:

So this guy Balak hires Balaam to curse Israel because he's afraid of Israel.

David Spoon:

Bad plan, because God doesn't like that.

David Spoon:

Specifically numbers 24, 9, as Balaam is talking, he mentions that God will curse those who curse Israel.

David Spoon:

So this story where the prophet is rebuked by the donkey, but Jesus brings it up because what Balaam did do, he couldn't curse Israel, but he provided Balak with a blueprint plan in order to lead Israel into sin, sin against the Lord.

David Spoon:

In other words, God would not allow Balaam to curse Israel, but Balaam did lay out a plan to make Israel stumble.

David Spoon:

And that teaching that he laid out for Balak, that teaching had to do with seducing Israel into sexual immorality and idolatry.

David Spoon:

Couldn't curse him, going to try and redirect him, going to try and throw some really bad things in their way and make them mess up before the Lord and be all out of sync.

David Spoon:

That teaching that Jesus is referring to from Balaam and Balak, that scenario has to do with seducing Israel, dropping them down.

David Spoon:

This is what Satan does.

David Spoon:

If he can't take you out personally, he throws things into your life that will, in an attempt to redirect you, to get you off the path, to go a different way, to think a different way, to replace truth with a lie.

David Spoon:

That's the goal.

David Spoon:

Because what happens when you engage with the truth, you shall know the truth, not a truth but the truth, what's that truth?

David Spoon:

Jesus, you shall know the truth.

David Spoon:

Jesus is Lord, you shall know the truth.

David Spoon:

Nobody gets saved except through Jesus.

David Spoon:

No man cometh to the Father except by me.

David Spoon:

Jesus said, and what is being attempted is Balaam being hired by Balak is trying to get Israel to go to the lie.

David Spoon:

What do you think is going on for most Christians nowadays?

David Spoon:

The desire of the enemy to get people to go to the lie.

David Spoon:

Hey, you know what tactic when that was used, we would call that the Garden of Eden, where the exact same tactic was used against Eve and then against Adam.

David Spoon:

Yea, hath God said, wow, it seems like the same thing that's going on over and over and over again.

David Spoon:

I think we should learn.

David Spoon:

Yea, hath God said.

David Spoon:

Yes, that is what he said, because we know the truth.

David Spoon:

And so Balaam trying to giving it to Balak, how to really pull Israel off course.

David Spoon:

When you're walking in the Lord do not think it's, oh, I have never any problems.

David Spoon:

Yeah, either you're not walking very effectively or you're not seeing the hand of Satan working against you.

David Spoon:

And he's trying to get us to go a different direction and believe lies.

David Spoon:

Just for those who do not know, little bit of history lesson for the record, Balaam, who was hired by Balak, was ultimately executed by Israel.

David Spoon:

So even though he didn't have a choice and was not able to curse Israel, he still tried to throw lies in their direction to get them to thwart and be pushed away from the Lord.

David Spoon:

And ultimately it cost him his life.

David Spoon:

And that's what happens with the people of God who are in warfare with the world, with Satan himself.

David Spoon:

Oh yeah, he knows who you are.

David Spoon:

He knows who the children of Israel are.

David Spoon:

He knows who the chosen of God are.

David Spoon:

You can't hide it.

David Spoon:

Why would you hide it anyway?

David Spoon:

And so in that process, Israel executes and gets rid of him.

David Spoon:

There's another hint, but what Jesus says is, look, I don't like you get this thing you guys are holding on to.

David Spoon:

Those who hold to the doctrine of Balaam, and what they were holding onto is that they were giving permission for sexual immorality and permission for idolatry.

David Spoon:

Hey, guess what?

David Spoon:

Nobody has permission for that.

David Spoon:

That's a sin.

David Spoon:

And then Jesus does it again.

David Spoon:

I just want to point this out a few things against you.

David Spoon:

You're holding the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality, trying to get Them off track.

David Spoon:

And then what else did Jesus say?

David Spoon:

Yes, you also have those who hold on to the doctrine of the nicolations.

David Spoon:

Remember we talked about this, the doctrine of the Nicolate Nicolaite.

David Spoon:

Nicolations means power or authority over laity.

David Spoon:

Power over laity.

David Spoon:

In other words, it's control.

David Spoon:

It's power.

David Spoon:

Who in our world now tries to yield control and power and redirect us and make us do things that we don't want to do?

David Spoon:

Don't go to church, we say.

David Spoon:

Right.

David Spoon:

That's not hard to figure out where that comes from, is it?

David Spoon:

And you know how Jesus feels about that.

David Spoon:

I just want to make sure everybody understands before we get to the trivia question.

David Spoon:

You know how Jesus feels about that?

David Spoon:

He hates it.

David Spoon:

Oh, there's no hate in Jesus.

David Spoon:

That person who says that doesn't know Jesus.

David Spoon:

He hates it.

David Spoon:

Absolutely hates it.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

That is the way that you start a new year.

David Spoon:

Dealing with the truth, recognizing there's an enemy, being on guard and ready.

David Spoon:

Here's your first trivia question.

David Spoon:

Rather easy, I think.

David Spoon:

So we'll kick it off this year with the first easy one.

David Spoon:

Is the book of First Kings in the Old Testament, the New Testament, or neither?

David Spoon:

Is the book of First Kings in the Old Testament, the New Testament, or neither?

David Spoon:

If you think you know the answer, you can reach out to us.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Or you can send an email david@hemustincrease.org straightforward, not even difficult.

David Spoon:

Is the book of first kings in the Old Testament the New Testament, or neither?

David Spoon:

Interesting.

David Spoon:

Meantime, we're going to send you to the website because that's what we do on the website.

David Spoon:

As I've already told you, there's some really cool things.

David Spoon:

I just literally three minutes before the show opened, I was able to put up a sound clip from the show on Tuesday having to do with an encounter I had with the Lord.

David Spoon:

I believe it'll be very effective and helpful for people to listen to that.

David Spoon:

And it's really going to come down to this when you get a chance to listen to that.

David Spoon:

And I really encourage you to do so.

David Spoon:

But it's simple like this.

David Spoon:

Are we ready to receive?

David Spoon:

I had the Lord speak to me.

David Spoon:

I share about that story and give you the chance to kind of look into it.

David Spoon:

Okay, so that's on the website, plus on the website is a map to make $60 trillion.

David Spoon:

There's not even a map to make 6 cents.

David Spoon:

That's kind of funny too.

David Spoon:

But here is the bottom line on the website is a place to give.

David Spoon:

And this ministry does not continue unless people give.

David Spoon:

And it is that simple.

David Spoon:

Proverbs 3, 9.

David Spoon:

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.

David Spoon:

Never give God leftovers.

David Spoon:

It's insulting to your king and he has never given you his leftovers ever.

David Spoon:

He's always given you the best.

David Spoon:

Check it out.

David Spoon:

If you feel like giving or can give or want to give, it's a great opportunity.

David Spoon:

If you can't keep praying for us, that's all we ask.

David Spoon:

Check it out on hemustincrease.org prayer request.

David Spoon:

Hemosincrease.org praise report.

David Spoon:

Hemosincrease.org looking to give to this ministry.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org he must increase.org you can't touch this.

David Spoon:

You can't touch this.

David Spoon:

Now you see, I already know this is going to be a phenomenal year because the first music piece is what?

David Spoon:

You can't touch this.

David Spoon:

I mean, it's just classic.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Just be it.

David Spoon:

That's your favorite one, right?

David Spoon:

Yep, absolutely.

David Spoon:

So that's a great start, right?

David Spoon:

The.

David Spoon:

You get your line, I get my first one.

David Spoon:

That's right.

David Spoon:

I'm just rolling.

David Spoon:

I'm rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling.

David Spoon:

Keep them doggies rolling.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

It does say.

David Spoon:

I did get a text from Julianne.

David Spoon:

They believe they will be here about 2:30.

David Spoon:

I will keep you posted as that comes out.

David Spoon:

We'll see.

David Spoon:

They just wanted to see what's going on in the studio.

David Spoon:

They've seen one studio but never sat in on a show.

David Spoon:

We'll see how that goes.

David Spoon:

All right, your trivia question, which I can't believe nobody has called in on because it's not difficult.

David Spoon:

In the book of first Kings.

David Spoon:

Is the book of first Kings in the Old Testament, in the New Testament, or neither?

David Spoon:

That is the question for you to answer.

David Spoon:

If you think you know, you can reach out to us.

David Spoon:

Quite simple.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Back to the Text after you see Jesus telling them, listen, I don't like this doctrine of nicolations.

David Spoon:

I don't like this doctrine of Balaam.

David Spoon:

These are things that I hate.

David Spoon:

Here's what Jesus says in verse 16.

David Spoon:

See, everybody has this concept in the world that Jesus came around and he was in a tie dye shirt and he had sandals on with a peace sign.

David Spoon:

He's like, peace man, peace.

David Spoon:

Everything's great, everything's great.

David Spoon:

Here's what he says in verse 16.

David Spoon:

Repent or else I will come to you quickly and fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

David Spoon:

So Jesus, we've already just discussed as Jesus does this disnumber on the doctrine that's coming from Balaam.

David Spoon:

Next issue he tackles is the doctrine of the nicolations, which by definition means authority or rule over laity.

David Spoon:

And it's just that, like I said, it's worth noting, Jesus hates it.

David Spoon:

He does that.

David Spoon:

He hates it.

David Spoon:

And he's trying to tell his believers, he's warning his believers do not be connected to either of these things.

David Spoon:

They're wrong, they're evil, they're dark.

David Spoon:

Doesn't leave a lot of room for this church to misunderstand what he says.

David Spoon:

You either repent or I'm coming.

David Spoon:

And you have to love some of the texts because it says repent or else.

David Spoon:

I mean, that's in there.

David Spoon:

It's like repent or oh.

David Spoon:

Sometimes the Lord is really soft in that.

David Spoon:

Sometimes he's really firm.

David Spoon:

This is the really firm.

David Spoon:

But listen to this.

David Spoon:

This is just a mind blower.

David Spoon:

It will just blow you away.

David Spoon:

He says this to him who has an ear to hear.

David Spoon:

Hear what the Spirit says to the church.

David Spoon:

To him who overcomes.

David Spoon:

I will give some of the hidden manna to eat and I will give him a white stone.

David Spoon:

And on that stone a new name written, which no one knows except the person who receives it.

David Spoon:

Why is that important?

David Spoon:

Because in their repentance, Jesus is telling them, hey, you do this right, I'm going to give you this promise that'll blow you away.

David Spoon:

I'm going to give you the hidden manna to eat as well as a white stone.

David Spoon:

Of course, the hidden manna makes reference to the children of Israel in the desert.

David Spoon:

But the hidden manna is Jesus something.

David Spoon:

He says he's the bread from heaven.

David Spoon:

But a person who's acquitted from a crime, they got a white stone in an urn that would signify their innocence.

David Spoon:

The stone declares innocence.

David Spoon:

And on that stone, this will blow you away.

David Spoon:

Don't miss.

David Spoon:

This is a new name Known only to the person who receives it from God.

David Spoon:

Clearly showing that God does have unique relationships with each person that are his believers.

David Spoon:

Because on that stone that you get from the Lord, which is going to have an acquittal that makes your position innocent, is also a name that God has for you that only you and God will know.

David Spoon:

Does that mean we're special?

David Spoon:

Yes.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

I'm going to answer the trivia question.

David Spoon:

But listen, isn't that cool?

David Spoon:

Special stone with your name because God thinks you're cool.

David Spoon:

Is the Book of Kings in the Old Testament, the New Testament, or neither?

David Spoon:

Your answer is the Old Testament.

David Spoon:

It's in the Old Testament.

David Spoon:

We'll take a short break and then we'll come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Your break will be back.

David Spoon:

Go anywhere.

David Spoon:

Galatians, chapter 5, verse 1.

David Spoon:

This is one of the first verses in my Christian faith that I learned, which is, you know, you don't think about it, but when I first became a Christian, people would share this verse with him.

David Spoon:

I didn't know why.

David Spoon:

I was going to find out why, because God was going to set me free from a lot of drug use.

David Spoon:

But I didn't know then what was going on.

David Spoon:

I was like, oh, I keep hearing this verse.

David Spoon:

Galatians 5:1.

David Spoon:

The freedom for freedom.

David Spoon:

Christ has set us free.

David Spoon:

Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.

David Spoon:

So now in our society, you say the word slavery and people start going and then everybody starts freaking out.

David Spoon:

You know what?

David Spoon:

We're never going to change what the gospel is.

David Spoon:

And the gospel is the reality, the truth.

David Spoon:

We're not going to alter for culture.

David Spoon:

We're not going to say it differently.

David Spoon:

So people aren't offended.

David Spoon:

It's.

David Spoon:

If you're offended, turn the radio off.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

That's your answer.

David Spoon:

You got fingers.

David Spoon:

Use them.

David Spoon:

Here's our earth.

David Spoon:

You got the ability to turn it on.

David Spoon:

You got the ability to turn it off.

David Spoon:

Here's the bottom line.

David Spoon:

Every one of us.

David Spoon:

Every one of us before Jesus Christ was in bondage to sin.

David Spoon:

Every one of us.

David Spoon:

Now that we are in Jesus Christ, we are free from the penalty of that sin.

David Spoon:

And the Lord is working in us the process to overcome that sin.

David Spoon:

Practically.

David Spoon:

We've talked about it multiple times.

David Spoon:

You understand salvation from a little bit of a smart, not smart, multiple scripture point of view.

David Spoon:

Scriptures talk about salvation being past tense.

David Spoon:

Scripture talks about salvation being present tense.

David Spoon:

Past and scripture talks about salvation being future tense.

David Spoon:

The only way that could happen is if.

David Spoon:

Watch this.

David Spoon:

Salvation is past tense, present tense, and future tense.

David Spoon:

The only way it can happen is because that's what it says.

David Spoon:

And so in that, we need to understand that from the past point of view, we are free from the penalty of sin.

David Spoon:

Yay.

David Spoon:

Currently, we're going through what is called sanctification, where we're being delivered.

David Spoon:

We're delivered from the power of sin, and we're learning in our own lives.

David Spoon:

We.

David Spoon:

We don't have to live for sin.

David Spoon:

And then eventually, when we're with the Lord, forever and ever, we will be free from the presence of sin, and there won't be any evil, any bad, any yucky.

David Spoon:

Okay, cool.

David Spoon:

In the meantime, while the justification, while the penalty for sin is done, while the freedom is there, the sanctification process is the one where he makes you look like Jesus now that he's pronounced you to be like Jesus.

David Spoon:

And that's the one you got to fight through.

David Spoon:

Through.

David Spoon:

That's the one that you have to go, you know what?

David Spoon:

I'm free.

David Spoon:

I just don't have to do that.

David Spoon:

I don't have to.

David Spoon:

That, therefore, becomes a responsibility, because the scripture says, stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.

David Spoon:

Which means that you can, but if you do, it'll be your choice.

David Spoon:

The David Spoon experience.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
