08-19-2026 PART 3: When the Storm Meets the King

Section 1

Awakened in the middle of the storm, Jesus immediately faced an accusation from frightened disciples: “Don’t You care if we drown?” Dr. Dave points out how easily believers can make the same accusation when God appears silent during trouble. Yet Jesus was never unaware of their circumstances. He rose, silenced the wind, and calmed the waves, demonstrating His complete authority over both the noise surrounding them and the turmoil tossing them around. The disciples saw chaos, but Jesus remained Lord over everything they feared. His apparent silence had never meant that He was absent, powerless, or unconcerned.

Section 2

After calming everything around them, Jesus addressed what was happening within them by asking why they were afraid and where their faith had gone. The disciples then asked the question that unlocks the entire passage: “Who is this?” Dr. Dave explains that active faith depends upon knowing the answer. Jesus had already said they were going to the other side, which meant the storm could not cancel His declaration. The One traveling with them possesses all authority in heaven and earth, reigns above every power and dominion, and holds even the keys of death and Hades.

Section 3

Every frightening circumstance becomes smaller when placed beside the risen Christ. Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, and nothing in a believer’s life possesses greater authority than Him. Dr. Dave challenges Christians to stop allowing circumstances, fears, dreams, or uncertain futures to occupy the position belonging exclusively to Jesus. He is not merely part of the answer; He is the answer. When life feels overwhelming, two questions restore the proper perspective: Who is in charge, and who is this? The answer to both is Jesus.
