The David Spoon Experience 4-27-23 Part 1
A) We ALWAYS carry the death so that we can live the life…of Jesus. A few ministries, even in Texas, shun the idea of carrying your cross daily. These are not “false teachers trying to divide the church by Satan’s hand.” They are just wrong in their teacher. Apollos taught incorrectly. He wasn’t a false teacher. He was wrong.
B) Acts 18:24-26 states, Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Egypt. 25 He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism. 26 When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God more accurately.
C) The reasoning is straightforward from the Apostle Paul: We don’t live to ourselves because WE won’t save anybody. But the more we reflect Jesus, the more Gospel gets shared. We are the Jesus billboards.
D) Paul was willing to suffer hardship or martyrdom so that the Corinthians could know the power of God. Paul faced opposition when he ministered in Corinth (Acts 18:6), but the Spirit encouraged him to stay and not be afraid (Acts 18:9–10). Consequently, many Corinthians heard the gospel message and accepted it. Paul’s suffering and endurance are intended to bring about this same resurrection life among the Corinthians as they learn to trust God amid adversity.
