The David Spoon Experience 2-15-23 Part 2
1) Do you remember? At the beginning of a relationship, specifically an intimate one is all senses on high alert. When it’s a romantic relationship, the flowers look better, the songs on the radio make sense, and everything in the universe is great. We call this “The Honeymoon Period.” And for almost each one of us, there is an interesting correlation to our spiritual relationship with God. At the beginning of our faith, prayers seem to get answered right away, the Bible makes sense, and the universe is aligned.
2) But we also inherit an enemy that absolutely despises us. We are in spiritual love with the very One that the enemy hates with all his being. We love what satan hates. And we start to hate what satan loves. And we learn that the honeymoon period moves into a new phase. It’s called growing pains. And growing pains, while sounding cute, are still pains.
3) So, what is the diagnosis, Doctor Dave? The same as the doctor gave the man who had two months to live. He said, “take two aspirins.” “Will that help?” the man asked. “Couldn’t hurt,” the doctor replied. The reality is that we disconnect a little. And if God is far, He didn’t move.
