The David Spoon Experience unfolds with an engaging mix of humor, heartfelt devotion, and community engagement. Dr. Spoon kicks off the show by inviting listeners into a light-hearted yet profound discussion on living out their Christian faith. He highlights the importance of prayer, urging the audience to share their struggles and requests, thereby fostering a supportive environment. Through an example prayer for a listener named Cordelia, Spoon illustrates the power of communal prayer and the significance of standing with one another in faith. This segment not only encourages vulnerability among listeners but also emphasizes the biblical call to intercede for one another, reinforcing the message that faith is best practiced within a community.
As the episode progresses, Dr. Spoon shifts gears to delve into the Book of Titus, where he tackles the pressing issue of false teachings within the church. He draws attention to Paul’s instructions to Titus, discussing the necessity of confronting deceptive doctrines and promoting sound faith. Spoon articulates that true faith should produce good works, echoing the sentiment that one’s actions reflect their beliefs. His enthusiastic discourse serves as a clarion call for believers to be discerning and aware of the teachings they follow, especially in a time when misinformation can easily mislead. He combines deep theological insights with relatable anecdotes, making complex themes accessible to all listeners.
The closing moments of the show are marked by a thoughtful reflection on grace and redemption, particularly through the lens of the story of Judas Iscariot. Dr. Spoon underscores the profound truth that even those who fail can be recipients of God’s grace. He urges listeners to extend compassion and understanding to others, reminding them that everyone is on a journey of faith. The episode invites further interaction, encouraging audience members to engage with the ministry, share their testimonies, and join in the journey of spiritual growth. Dr. David Spoon:Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life, but we spare no expense as we've downloaded them from the Internet.
Dr. David Spoon:The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.
Dr. David Spoon:Of course, we hope before this show is over, life lessons for our faith that we can actually use probably won't if we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?
Dr. David Spoon:Well, your guess is as good as mine.
Dr. David Spoon:How about that?
Dr. David Spoon:Also Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real.
Dr. David Spoon:Cool prizes, your phone calls and more.
Dr. David Spoon:Living this life, not always easy running.
Dr. David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, Local, national and heavenly talk.
Dr. David Spoon:My name is Dr.
Dr. David Spoon:David Spoon, and I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.
Dr. David Spoon:Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.
Dr. David Spoon:Here is the key to the show.
Dr. David Spoon:This is what you have to remember.
Dr. David Spoon:Boy, if there's something you're gonna chalk up about this show and write it down on notes, here it is.
Dr. David Spoon:We don't know what we're doing.
Dr. David Spoon:There you go.
Dr. David Spoon:That's right.
Dr. David Spoon:We have no idea what's gonna happen.
Dr. David Spoon:Truthfully, we really just really don't care.
Dr. David Spoon:But for the next few minutes, I want to talk faith with you.
Dr. David Spoon:So here we go.
Dr. David Spoon:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
Dr. David Spoon:Doing that.
Dr. David Spoon:Yes, It's Monday, and you know what that means.
Dr. David Spoon:It means it's an opportunity for us to believe.
Dr. David Spoon:It's an opportunity for us to trust.
Dr. David Spoon:It's an opportunity to start afresh.
Dr. David Spoon:And here we go.
Dr. David Spoon:We have people in this audience that are diligent.
Dr. David Spoon:Prayers, answers to prayers.
Dr. David Spoon:Things happen.
Dr. David Spoon:Lives change.
Dr. David Spoon:So what can our prayer warriors pray for you about?
Dr. David Spoon:That's the question we're asking.
Dr. David Spoon:What can we join you in in your struggle?
Dr. David Spoon:Paul said, join me in my struggle by praying for me.
Dr. David Spoon: Romans: Dr. David Spoon:How can we join you in your struggle and pray for you as we petition, as we offer up our specific requests before the Lord with a heart of thanksgiving, how can we pray for you.
Dr. David Spoon:If you have a response to that or you just have an opinion, a comment, a thought, or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.
Dr. David Spoon:Reach out and give us a call.
Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon:All right, so you have this opportunity to call us.
Dr. David Spoon:It could be for a prayer request, something you got going on.
Dr. David Spoon:You can also text us.
Dr. David Spoon:Some people are more comfortable with that, and we appreciate that.
Dr. David Spoon:214-210-848.
Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon:It's a text number.
Dr. David Spoon:Now, this is a number you can call after the show because it's the ministry number, but during the show, it's a text number.
Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon:You can also send an email.
Dr. David Spoon:David must increase.org it's all one thing.
Dr. David Spoon:David must increase.org so you might have a praise report that you want to share.
Dr. David Spoon:Reach out to us and let us know.
Dr. David Spoon:A prayer request.
Dr. David Spoon:We're going to pray for Cordelia in just a second because she's got something she needs favor with.
Dr. David Spoon:We're going to ask God to give her favor.
Dr. David Spoon:Maybe it's something you just want to share.
Dr. David Spoon:Maybe it's a scripture.
Dr. David Spoon:Maybe it's something on your heart.
Dr. David Spoon:Awesome.
Dr. David Spoon:Maybe something happened at church and it changed your heart and mind and you just want to share it.
Dr. David Spoon:Fantastic.
Dr. David Spoon:Be a blessing to other people and honor the Lord with what you've got going on and let other people join you and share in your struggle.
Dr. David Spoon:Don't be so arrogant and prideful.
Dr. David Spoon:You think I gotta do all this stuff myself?
Dr. David Spoon:That is not the design of the kingdom of God.
Dr. David Spoon:First it starts with dependence on the Lord, and then it's dependence on one another.
Dr. David Spoon:Pretty straightforward.
Dr. David Spoon:Let's go into prayer for Cordelia, who's in a meeting right now.
Dr. David Spoon:We're asking for favor.
Dr. David Spoon:We're just asking for favor and grace.
Dr. David Spoon:Let's pray, Father.
Dr. David Spoon:We come before you right now.
Dr. David Spoon:Lord, I am full of thanksgiving.
Dr. David Spoon:Lord, I'm full of a lot of bad things.
Dr. David Spoon:I know that I do a lot of dumb things, think a lot of dumb things and say a lot of dumb things.
Dr. David Spoon:But I also have a great deal of appreciation and respect and praise in my heart for you.
Dr. David Spoon:You are faithful to us even when we fail.
Dr. David Spoon:And so I'm lifting up, Lord, Cordelia touch.
Dr. David Spoon:She's got a situation she needs favorite.
Dr. David Spoon:She's asking for something specific.
Dr. David Spoon:Lord, if you say yes, it is yes.
Dr. David Spoon:If you bring healing, it is healing.
Dr. David Spoon:If you bring salvation, the person is saved.
Dr. David Spoon:We're asking you to bring favor for Cordelia.
Dr. David Spoon:Let her have that favor.
Dr. David Spoon:If you say yes, she shall have the favor.
Dr. David Spoon:We lift this into your hands.
Dr. David Spoon:It's beyond us, but it's not beyond you.
Dr. David Spoon:So we lift it up with expectation, confidence, faith, but with a sense of humility, knowing, hey, you're in charge.
Dr. David Spoon:You do all that you desire.
Dr. David Spoon:We want to follow after you.
Dr. David Spoon:Bless her in this situation.
Dr. David Spoon:Let us hear good news.
Dr. David Spoon:We pray in Jesus name.
Dr. David Spoon:Amen and Amen.
Dr. David Spoon:And that's how you do it.
Dr. David Spoon:So when you're praying for people, it doesn't have to be four hours of prayer.
Dr. David Spoon:When you're praying over your food, you don't spend.
Dr. David Spoon:You need to spend 15 minutes so that the food gets cold.
Dr. David Spoon:The Lord's not looking for that.
Dr. David Spoon:He's looking for hearts.
Dr. David Spoon:He's looking for people to respond to him where they're at.
Dr. David Spoon:And just be honest about the process.
Dr. David Spoon:Just be forward about the process.
Dr. David Spoon:And like we said, maybe you've got a prayer request and you want to bring it also.
Dr. David Spoon:Well, then bring it and let's pray.
Dr. David Spoon:Well, I don't want to disturb the show.
Dr. David Spoon:It is the show.
Dr. David Spoon:Of course.
Dr. David Spoon:We do the teachings and we do praying and we do goofy things.
Dr. David Spoon:Why?
Dr. David Spoon:Because that's my life.
Dr. David Spoon:My life consists of doing goofy things, watching things, having fun, enjoying it, being serious before the Lord, being laughing before the Lord.
Dr. David Spoon:I've come before the Lord and laughed.
Dr. David Spoon:That's not out of disrespect.
Dr. David Spoon:He's my dad.
Dr. David Spoon:My dad used to tell me just a couple of jokes.
Dr. David Spoon:They had like five jokes in his arsenal.
Dr. David Spoon:They were good ones.
Dr. David Spoon:That's all I'm going to say.
Dr. David Spoon:I can't even repeat them all.
Dr. David Spoon:But the point is, that's part of the engagement.
Dr. David Spoon:That's part of the relationship.
Dr. David Spoon:That's part of the fact that he's Abba father, our dad.
Dr. David Spoon:Right?
Dr. David Spoon:Loving that, aren't you?
Dr. David Spoon:All right, so in the meantime, if you want to reach out to us, you know what to do.
Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon:Additionally, you can send an email.
Dr. David Spoon:David and he must increase.
Dr. David Spoon:We are in fact in Titus and boy, oh boy, oh boy, is this a really challenging thing for me to teach.
Dr. David Spoon:And here we go.
Dr. David Spoon:We are Picking it up at verse 12.
Dr. David Spoon:And actually, I'm going to ramp in from verse 11 and then pick it up at verse 12.
Dr. David Spoon:We'll do 12, 13, and 14 if we can get to that point.
Dr. David Spoon:Here's what it says in verse 11.
Dr. David Spoon:Ramping in.
Dr. David Spoon:In the book of Titus, the third book of the Pastoral Epistles, 1st Timothy 2, Timothy and Titus are known as the Pastoral Epistles.
Dr. David Spoon:Verse 11 says this.
Dr. David Spoon:It is necessary to silence them.
Dr. David Spoon:They are ruining entire households by teaching what they shouldn't in order to get money dishonestly.
Dr. David Spoon:Verse 12, one of their very own prophets said, cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.
Dr. David Spoon:This testimony is true.
Dr. David Spoon:For this reason, rebuke them sharply so that they may be sound in the faith.
Dr. David Spoon:So here we have Paul talking to Titus, and he tells them, and he's making a reference to one of their own prophets.
Dr. David Spoon:To give you an idea how bad it was in Crete when people would say the phrase, you're just being Cretan, like that meant you were lying, lying, lying.
Dr. David Spoon:That's the reputation the city had.
Dr. David Spoon:They would say, oh, you're just being like a Cretan.
Dr. David Spoon:Right?
Dr. David Spoon:We would use things like, you're being creepy, this, that, whatever.
Dr. David Spoon:When you were a Cretan, you were known as a liar.
Dr. David Spoon:And Paul makes a reference to Epemondinus, who is a spokesperson, a prophet of their own countrymen, illustrating that his own country, he says, hey, Cretans are always liars.
Dr. David Spoon:They're evil beasts and they're lazy gluttons.
Dr. David Spoon:And this testimony is true.
Dr. David Spoon:He's not giving affirmation that this guy is a genuine prophet of God.
Dr. David Spoon:He's just acknowledging that what that guy said is true.
Dr. David Spoon: ke the phrase, the journey of: Dr. David Spoon:Okay, well, that's true.
Dr. David Spoon:Okay, that doesn't make the person a prophet.
Dr. David Spoon:It's just a true statement.
Dr. David Spoon:So what Paul is saying is, look, it's true.
Dr. David Spoon:Cretans are always liars.
Dr. David Spoon:They're just this way.
Dr. David Spoon:It's terrible.
Dr. David Spoon:And if you remember from that ramp up we just did in verse 11, he says, they're doing all these things, by the way, teaching all these things so that they can get money, money, money, money, money, money, money.
Dr. David Spoon:So Paul is telling Titus, rebuke these people sharply.
Dr. David Spoon:They're teaching things they shouldn't teach in order to get money dishonestly.
Dr. David Spoon:There's no dancing around this, by the way.
Dr. David Spoon:There are some people who do ministry for the sake of money and only for the sake of money.
Dr. David Spoon:They should be rebuked sharply so that they might repent and be sound in the faith.
Dr. David Spoon:Nobody is saying they don't have any belief.
Dr. David Spoon:He'll say that in a few more verses.
Dr. David Spoon:But what he's initially talking about is people that are using ministry as a means of filling or lining up their pockets.
Dr. David Spoon:Wow.
Dr. David Spoon:So Paul's given us practical advice from the Holy Spirit leading us to understand how we're supposed to approach some of these bizarre sinos.
Dr. David Spoon:I talked about this last week.
Dr. David Spoon:What's a cno?
Dr. David Spoon:You know what a rhino is, right?
Dr. David Spoon:Well, a CNO is Christian in name only.
Dr. David Spoon:And there are Christian in name only ministries and people where they do things simply to get money, like interview people who they're trying to put in office just to get money.
Dr. David Spoon:You know what the Lord tells us through the Holy Spirit.
Dr. David Spoon:As Paul is writing this?
Dr. David Spoon:Don't pay attention.
Dr. David Spoon:This is the hardest thing for, I think for Christians, especially Christians who get a little bit involved in the political realm, it's the hardest thing to do is to not pay attention.
Dr. David Spoon:There is a new article out that's from Catholics for Abortion.
Dr. David Spoon:If you want to look into it.
Dr. David Spoon:Can you figure out already in your mind and heart what they're going to do?
Dr. David Spoon:They're trying to use Mary, the mother of Jesus, as an advocate for abortion.
Dr. David Spoon:Right.
Dr. David Spoon:Can't be any dumber than that.
Dr. David Spoon:But see the need that any one of us has to read it shows the little defectiveness in us.
Dr. David Spoon:You don't need to read it.
Dr. David Spoon:You already know it's a lie.
Dr. David Spoon:Just reject it.
Dr. David Spoon:Ignore it.
Dr. David Spoon:If you give energy to it, you're giving them an entitlement.
Dr. David Spoon:Don't do that.
Dr. David Spoon:You already know these people are godless, that they absolutely don't know Jesus from a brown paper bag.
Dr. David Spoon:You already know it.
Dr. David Spoon:Then why read it?
Dr. David Spoon:Why do you care?
Dr. David Spoon:You don't want to have that part of you.
Dr. David Spoon:You don't want to have that stain in you, do you?
Fred:No.
Dr. David Spoon:No, no.
Dr. David Spoon:Well, I want to keep informed.
Dr. David Spoon:Do you really want to keep up with everything that's evil?
Dr. David Spoon:Wow.
Dr. David Spoon:I'm not sure that's the way to do it.
Dr. David Spoon:Verse 14.
Dr. David Spoon:Pay no attention to Jewish myths and the commands of people who reject the truth.
Dr. David Spoon:The truth is established by Jesus Christ.
Dr. David Spoon:Jesus said, sanctify them in Thy word.
Dr. David Spoon:Sanctify them in thy truth.
Dr. David Spoon:Thy word is truth.
Dr. David Spoon:You want to know what the truth is?
Dr. David Spoon: to Revelation: Dr. David Spoon:No matter what person says otherwise, no matter if the person claims to be a prophet or if they claim to be an intellectual, or they're really smart and they have so many degrees, you call them Dr.
Dr. David Spoon:Fahrenheit.
Dr. David Spoon:Or they're really smooth talkers so that they're part of the Hollywood scene.
Dr. David Spoon:Or maybe they're influential in the media or social medias.
Dr. David Spoon:Maybe they're just academics who have lost their minds since it seems like half of them have.
Dr. David Spoon:The bottom line is simply this.
Dr. David Spoon:They don't have anything to offer you.
Dr. David Spoon:They are continually operating in the same spirit as their father, the devil, who was a liar from the beginning.
Dr. David Spoon:Yea, hath God said.
Dr. David Spoon:Yes, that's exactly what God said.
Dr. David Spoon:That's the response.
Dr. David Spoon:And so the truth is what we want to focus in on.
Dr. David Spoon:And Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
Dr. David Spoon:And then no man comes to the Father but by him.
Dr. David Spoon:And the truth is also known as what in John 1?
Dr. David Spoon:The Word of God.
Dr. David Spoon:So what are we figuring out?
Dr. David Spoon:The Word of God is the truth.
Dr. David Spoon:Sanctify them in thy truth.
Dr. David Spoon:Thy word is truth.
Dr. David Spoon:And so what Paul is encouraging Titus in this.
Dr. David Spoon:He says, look, Cretans are always liars.
Dr. David Spoon:They're just, they're, they're evil, they're lazy.
Dr. David Spoon:This is a true testimony.
Dr. David Spoon:So just rebuke them sharply so that they might become sound in the faith.
Dr. David Spoon:Because they're not sound in the faith.
Dr. David Spoon:Don't pay attention to Jewish myths or commands of people who reject the truth.
Dr. David Spoon:The easiest way to define a religion is to understand that the religion has commands of men.
Dr. David Spoon:And if you really want some good smart alecky lines, you just tell those people, well, you worship God your way, and I'll worship God his way.
Dr. David Spoon:Got that from a rabbi.
Dr. David Spoon:Love it.
Dr. David Spoon:So good.
Dr. David Spoon:And then this is what Paul says.
Dr. David Spoon:To the pure, everything is pure.
Dr. David Spoon:But to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure.
Dr. David Spoon:In fact, both their minds and their consciences are defiled.
Dr. David Spoon:He's teaching us in verse 15 that to the pure, everything is pure, but to those who are defiled, nothing is.
Dr. David Spoon:What this means is that when we have been purified in our hearts by the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, we have a strong desire to make everything righteous, honest, earnest before God.
Dr. David Spoon:It's a passion that rises up in us.
Dr. David Spoon:But the people who reject and mock Jesus are the exact opposite.
Dr. David Spoon:There's nothing in them that's pure.
Dr. David Spoon:You say, what are you talking about?
Dr. David Spoon:You tell me that all those people that reject Jesus are not pure.
Dr. David Spoon:Yes, that is exactly what God is saying.
Dr. David Spoon:And it's important for us to grasp that.
Dr. David Spoon:And no, you don't say or do or think everything perfectly.
Dr. David Spoon:But you do have this desire, this inside of you, because the Holy Spirit lives in you, and you've acknowledged Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and surrendered your life.
Dr. David Spoon:You have this desire to have it right before God.
Dr. David Spoon:Do you always do it?
Dr. David Spoon:No.
Dr. David Spoon:But that desire to please him is real.
Dr. David Spoon:And it shows that you've been separated from the world.
Dr. David Spoon:It shows that he is guaranteed your salvation because he has marked you as his own possession.
Dr. David Spoon:And the fact that you want to please him is such a key, people that don't know Jesus could care less whether they please Him.
Dr. David Spoon:Okay.
Dr. David Spoon:Do you care if you please Jesus?
Dr. David Spoon:Answer that question and you'll know where you stand on the salvation scale.
Dr. David Spoon:That simple.
Dr. David Spoon:All right, take a deep breath, Dave.
Dr. David Spoon:You're not supposed to come off like that and just keep firing.
Dr. David Spoon:I don't know.
Dr. David Spoon:It just came out.
Dr. David Spoon:Here we go.
Dr. David Spoon:Let's see if you guys can get this one.
Dr. David Spoon:Making a reference to what we just talked about.
Dr. David Spoon:Who said this?
Dr. David Spoon:Very interesting that it's connected to our teaching.
Dr. David Spoon:Why was not this anointment sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor?
Dr. David Spoon:Who said that in a lying fashion?
Dr. David Spoon:John, chapter 12, verse 4 through 6.
Dr. David Spoon:That's John, chapter 12, verses 4 through 6.
Dr. David Spoon:Who said, why was this ointment not sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor?
Dr. David Spoon:But he was lying when he said that.
Dr. David Spoon:Uh oh, who was that?
Dr. David Spoon:John 12, 4, 6.
Dr. David Spoon:In the meantime, as I have to do but can't stand doing, I'm sending you up to the website so you can be aware that we have needs as every other ministry, and we know things look like they're going to be getting better for some people, we're pretty happy about that.
Dr. David Spoon:But the ministry could really use a little bit of boosta, boosta, boosta.
Dr. David Spoon:And that's all I'm going to say.
Dr. David Spoon:Second Corinthians 9, 6:7 says, the point is, whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly.
Dr. David Spoon:Whoever sows bountifully will reap bountifully.
Dr. David Spoon:Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion.
Dr. David Spoon:For God loves a cheerful giver.
Dr. David Spoon:Never give reluctantly and never give because you're manipulated to give.
Dr. David Spoon:Never do it.
Dr. David Spoon:Do you understand?
Dr. David Spoon:Keep it.
Dr. David Spoon:If you can't give it with a cheerful heart, we certainly don't want it.
Dr. David Spoon:And you have to give, and you don't have to give to us, but you have to give.
Dr. David Spoon:You have to be a giver, because that's what the Lord wants.
Dr. David Spoon:Okay.
Dr. David Spoon:All right.
Dr. David Spoon:So who said why was not this anointment sold for 300 denaria and given to the poor?
Dr. David Spoon:John, chapter 12, verse 4 through 6.
Dr. David Spoon:If you think you know.
Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon:And I haven't sent you to the website yet, so slow down.
Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon: -: Dr. David Spoon:Check out the website.
Dr. David Spoon:He must increase prayer request.
Dr. David Spoon:He must increase.org praise report.
Dr. David Spoon:He must increase.org looking to give to this ministry.
Dr. David Spoon:He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.
Dr. David Spoon:He must increase.org he must increase.org what are you supposed to be, some kind of a cosmonaut?
Dr. David Spoon:No, we're exterminators.
Dr. David Spoon:Somebody saw a cockroach up on 12.
Dr. David Spoon:That's gotta be some cockroach.
Dr. David Spoon:Bite your head off, man.
Dr. David Spoon:I just.
Dr. David Spoon:You have nothing to say about.
Dr. David Spoon:What can you say about that?
Dr. David Spoon:It'll bite your head off.
Dr. David Spoon:That's one thing Noelle does not like.
Dr. David Spoon:We'll just leave that there.
Dr. David Spoon:Just don't even want to discuss that.
Dr. David Spoon:Okay.
Dr. David Spoon:We do have somebody ready to answer the trivia question.
Dr. David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
Dr. David Spoon:Knock, knock.
Dr. David Spoon:This is David.
Dr. David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Fred:Hi, Dr.
Fred:Spoon.
Fred:This is Fred.
Dr. David Spoon:Hello, Fred.
Dr. David Spoon:How are you, my brother?
Fred:Doing fine.
Dr. David Spoon:Awesome.
Dr. David Spoon:Awesome.
Dr. David Spoon:Blessed money to you, my friend.
Dr. David Spoon:Let me set it up for you.
Dr. David Spoon:And you can.
Dr. David Spoon:You can take it from here.
Dr. David Spoon:Here we go.
Dr. David Spoon:Who said.
Dr. David Spoon:Why was this an ointment not sold for 300 denaria and given to the poor?
Dr. David Spoon:But he said it as a liar.
Dr. David Spoon:Who said that?
Dr. David Spoon:From John 12:4 through 6.
Fred:You know, Jesus spoke of this man and said it would have been better for him if he were not born.
Fred:And then the Bible also calls him a thief.
Fred:And certainly we know some more things about him that just wasn't right.
Fred:And that would be Judas Iscariot?
Dr. David Spoon:That is correct.
Dr. David Spoon:David just shows you.
Dr. David Spoon:It's like, you just look at this guy and you go, wow.
Dr. David Spoon:How amazing.
Dr. David Spoon:Does this look like politicians?
Dr. David Spoon:It's, like, so sad.
Dr. David Spoon:It's like, wait a minute.
Dr. David Spoon:This guy's like, why didn't you sell it?
Dr. David Spoon:Give it to the poor man?
Fred:I thank God for Him, because had he not turned Jesus over, hey, maybe we wouldn't all be saved today.
Fred:So he did his job and he was a part of our salvation.
Fred:He was a part of the plan of salvation.
Fred:He was the one that sold Jesus off.
Fred:So if it wasn't for him, who knows?
Dr. David Spoon:That's exactly right, Fred.
Dr. David Spoon:That's a great point.
Dr. David Spoon:And the ultimate in that process is Jesus knowing this, still invested in him, still gave him time, still gave him training, but he still did it.
Dr. David Spoon:And that just hurls the guilt level just that much higher, thinking, wow, this guy did all this and Jesus still allowed him to participate.
Fred:Wow.
Dr. David Spoon:Amazing.
Fred:It's amazing.
Fred:The love of God.
Fred:The love of Jesus is totally awesome and amazing.
Dr. David Spoon:Absolutely.
Dr. David Spoon:I'll hang up.
Dr. David Spoon:Thank you, brother.
Dr. David Spoon:Excellent job, by the way.
Dr. David Spoon:Excellent.
Dr. David Spoon:All right.
Dr. David Spoon:See, that's a great, great point that he's making.
Dr. David Spoon:See, you would think, well, he's going to fulfill the plan.
Dr. David Spoon:Exactly.
Dr. David Spoon:What Fred said along with that is this understanding that even though it was to fulfill the plan, listen to this.
Dr. David Spoon:Jesus still loved him by training him and serving him.
Dr. David Spoon:You're thinking, but he was an enemy.
Dr. David Spoon:Yeah, right.
Dr. David Spoon:Quite the example for you and I, isn't it?
Dr. David Spoon:Quite the example that we need to be aware of.
Dr. David Spoon:Sometimes you pour into people and you think, that's probably going to come back, probably going to bite me.
Dr. David Spoon:And it's like, you know, what if this is what the Lord set before you, it's what the Lord has set before you.
Dr. David Spoon:The goal is to do that which is set before you and do it the best you can, right?
Dr. David Spoon:And then trust God for how it all pans out.
Dr. David Spoon:I promise, if any one of us were in the know of what was going to happen, we would have stopped Judas.
Dr. David Spoon:But then again, just exactly like Fred said, that was part of the plan.
Dr. David Spoon:That's the big key.
Dr. David Spoon:All right, the last thing I want to bring up on this text is really, really important.
Dr. David Spoon:Verse 16 out of this Titus one says, they claim to know God, but they deny him.
Dr. David Spoon:By their works they are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
Dr. David Spoon:The last portion in this little teach is understanding that these are people that say, oh, I know Jesus, I know Jesus, but what they do shows they don't know Jesus.
Dr. David Spoon:By their fruits you shall know them, Jesus said.
Dr. David Spoon:And so you just look at this and you think, wow.
Dr. David Spoon:They claim that they know God, but by their works they're denying Him.
Dr. David Spoon:In other words, they make this proclamation, whether it's a word salad or not claiming to know God.
Dr. David Spoon:But everything they do, everything they teach, everything they promote, everything they encourage is nothing close to God.
Dr. David Spoon:So why don't you just, right now make a list and name 10 ministers who could probably fit that bill in the public eye right now.
Dr. David Spoon:And you're thinking that's what the scripture is talking about.
Dr. David Spoon:But see, this is why we need to know the Word.
Dr. David Spoon:Because the word of God is what evaluates and tests, and it's the dividing asunder between the marrow and the bone, cutting right to the core.
Dr. David Spoon:And it's the word of God.
Dr. David Spoon:And knowing the word of God, that gives us the ability to look at somebody and go, that's not in the book.
Dr. David Spoon:That's not in the book.
Dr. David Spoon:There's some leader of a church that's like, let's have a jubilee for the lgbtq.
Dr. David Spoon:Rstuv wxyz.
Dr. David Spoon:Doesn't that sound great?
Dr. David Spoon:And the answer is no, that sounds like sin.
Dr. David Spoon:And because I know the word, I know it sin.
Dr. David Spoon:So that leader is sinning, period.
Dr. David Spoon:Because he's doing the contrary to what Jesus would do.
Dr. David Spoon:Who?
Dr. David Spoon:Jesus.
Dr. David Spoon:When catching people and said, go and sin no more.
Dr. David Spoon:That's what Jesus did.
Dr. David Spoon:That's how Jesus loved people.
Dr. David Spoon:By requiring them to sell all out for God.
Dr. David Spoon:Not for their flesh, not for their pleasure, not for their self justification, but for the glory of the King of the universe.
Dr. David Spoon:That, my friends, is the key.
Dr. David Spoon:When people are selling out for purposes other than the kingdom, you should have a red flag going.
Dr. David Spoon:Ding, ding, ding.
Dr. David Spoon:All right, we'll take a short break, then we'll come back.
Dr. David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
Dr. David Spoon:Short break.
Dr. David Spoon:We'll be back.
Dr. David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Dr. David Spoon:What is the David Spoon Experience?
Dr. David Spoon:So you know what David did?
Dr. David Spoon:He asked God again.
Dr. David Spoon:And how did God answer?
Dr. David Spoon:He answered him, God didn't go.
Dr. David Spoon:You asked me twice, strike you with lightning.
Dr. David Spoon:Strike you with lightning.
Dr. David Spoon:It's like, that's not how this works.
Dr. David Spoon:So the scripture says in 1st Samuel 23:4, go check out your Bible.
Dr. David Spoon:Once again, David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him.
Dr. David Spoon:It's like, go, go, go, go do your thing.
Dr. David Spoon:Go, go, go, go.
Dr. David Spoon:It's okay to inquire more than once, even if there's an answer that you've got.
Dr. David Spoon:Because sometimes we look for reassurance and clarity and for comfort and from eliminating hearing mistakes.
Dr. David Spoon:We're not trying to irritate God.
Dr. David Spoon:We're not trying to fight against his will.
Dr. David Spoon:We're not trying to be disobedient.
Dr. David Spoon:The Lord knows that.
Dr. David Spoon:See, I think what happens is we'll do something.
Dr. David Spoon:It'll be sincere action.
Dr. David Spoon:Then somebody else may hear about it, or you mention somebody and the way they interpret it is different than the way God interprets it.
Dr. David Spoon:When I come before the Lord and he says, go do this and I come before the Lord again and do one of those are you sure?
Dr. David Spoon:You know, kind of thing, that's not me trying to be bad.
Dr. David Spoon:And this is the same kind of thing that happens when you get into the people that, you know, one group in Christianity is like, you know, you can't, you can't ask for signs and ask for signs at all because it shows that you either have no faith or you don't believe Jesus is Messiah.
Dr. David Spoon:Well, first of all, that's not true because God gave signs all the way from Genesis to Revelation.
Dr. David Spoon:So that's just silly.
Dr. David Spoon:The other part of that is people asking for signs like Gideon were just like going, okay, I'm just trying not to mess this up, right?
Dr. David Spoon:What Jesus rebuked was the people asking for a sign to prove he was the Messiah.
Dr. David Spoon:That's substantially different than asking God.
Dr. David Spoon:I just need to know I'm not doing this dumb, right?
Dr. David Spoon:I mean, and that's why what we do is we kind of pour into these rules and these reasonings and it's like, you know what?
Dr. David Spoon:Don't do that.
Dr. David Spoon:Come before the Lord.
Dr. David Spoon:Be yourself.
Dr. David Spoon:You know, you don't have to, you don't have to posture before God.
Dr. David Spoon:He already knows.
Dr. David Spoon:It's like, it's like, you know, I just want you to know I'm not going to look up right now.
Dr. David Spoon:Now, if you really feel that way, that's fair, but don't do that because you're trying to impress God.
Dr. David Spoon:Because he know knows you're trying to impress Him.
Dr. David Spoon:So then don't do that.
Dr. David Spoon:Just tell him what's going on.
Dr. David Spoon:Share your heart, share your feelings.
Dr. David Spoon:One of the things that I see about prayer, and this is a true statement, some people say, well, people pray to get things changed.
Dr. David Spoon:It's maybe better to say that we pray so that God changes us.
Dr. David Spoon:That might be more accurate so that we get into a surrender or a yielded position.
Dr. David Spoon:It's not that you can't have faith, not that you can't pray, but what I'm talking about is coming and yielding and going.
Dr. David Spoon:Just, I'm just trying to get the clarity.
Dr. David Spoon:I want to know what I'm doing is what you want to do.
Dr. David Spoon:I think it's a very important element for people who are seeking wisdom just to be as earnest and honest as possible.
Dr. David Spoon:If the Lord grants you a sign.
Dr. David Spoon:The bigger problem about that is, most of the time, like for Israel, they didn't believe it anyway.
