12-19-24 Part 2: Christ in You: The Ultimate Hope for Every Believer
The latest episode of the David Spoon Experience dives deep into the profound message of hope found in Colossians, emphasizing that true hope lies in Christ within us. Dr. Spoon reflects on Paul's rejoicing in suffering, highlighting how our challenges can connect us more closely to Jesus and serve a greater purpose for the body of Christ. As he explores the full counsel of God's Word, he urges listeners to embrace the entirety of Scripture rather than cherry-pick the parts that are more comfortable. The episode also touches on the importance of community and prayer, encouraging listeners to support one another in their spiritual journeys. With a mix of personal anecdotes and biblical insights, Dr. Spoon delivers a compelling call to recognize the eternal hope we have in Christ, especially as we approach the Christmas season.
Takeaways:
- Paul rejoices in suffering as a means to connect with Christ, reflecting His glory.
- It's essential to embrace the fullness of God's word without cherry-picking its messages.
- The hope of glory is linked to Christ in us, providing eternal hope beyond circumstances.
- Suffering is not just personal; it serves to encourage and uplift the church community.
- God's purpose in our struggles is to mold us into better reflections of Jesus.
- Prayer and genuine fellowship can create powerful connections within the Christian community.
Dr. David Spoon delves into the transformative power of suffering and its role in the Christian experience, particularly as illustrated in Colossians 1:24-27. Spoon emphasizes the paradox of rejoicing in suffering, drawing parallels between the Apostle Paul's experiences and the challenges faced by believers today. He posits that suffering is not merely an obstacle but a pathway to deeper communion with Christ and greater effectiveness in serving others. By embracing the fullness of God’s word and understanding the biblical call to endure hardships, Spoon encourages listeners to look beyond their immediate struggles and recognize the eternal hope that Jesus brings. This hope, defined as 'Christ in you, the hope of glory,' serves as a profound reminder that while earthly troubles abound, the promise of glory and connection with God remains steadfast and unshakeable.
The conversation transitions into a reflection on the importance of authenticity in ministry and the necessity of sharing the complete message of the Gospel. Spoon warns against the dangers of cherry-picking biblical truths to fit personal narratives, urging his audience to accept the entirety of scripture, both its comforting and challenging aspects. He illustrates this with the example of Jesus, who demonstrated love by addressing the rich young man's shortcomings, thereby providing a model for how Christians should interact with one another. The episode culminates in a powerful reminder of the eternal nature of hope found in Christ, highlighting that while life presents temporary challenges, the true gift lies in the assurance of eternal life offered through faith.

And now for something completely different.
David:Here's what's coming up this hour on Today's Experience.
David:It's Expository Thursday.
David:Expository Thursday.
David:As we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the book of Colossians, we travel to understand what things the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truths in our lives.
David:First, picking it back up, in Colossians 1:24, Paul mentions that he rejoices in his sufferings on behalf of the church in Colossae.
David:He is filling up in himself what is still lacking in the sufferings that the body of Christ must endure.
David:This is an ironic moment for those who have a fantastic positive attitude.
David:Everything is always positive, never negative.
David:Paul rejoices in participating in this suffering and becoming more like Christ.
David:He's not seeking escape, but rather the strength to embrace it.
David:Next, Paul states that he's become a servant of the church and a servant of God by fully proclaiming the word of God to the people.
David:It's important to understand that we must embrace the fullness of God's word and not be selective and cherry pick.
David:We cannot pick out the pleasant parts.
David:We must embrace all of what Jesus had to say.
David:And finally, Paul closes with an incredible statement, the hope of glory.
David:There are so many things we hope for that are so temporary.
David:We want to get through the next set of bills.
David:I understand that.
David:As a ministry, the next round of political strife, I understand that.
David:Or our next generation.
David:I get that.
David:But truly, a hope that is connected to the glory of God is an eternal hope.
David:And no other hope we can ever have can be compared to it.
David:David Spoon's life has been an experience.
David:While growing up in a Jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.
David:Then David Spoon found Jesus Christ and his life completely changed.
David:The more he studied the Gospel, the more he wanted to share his experiences with others.
David:After 35 years of ministry, David discovered a new path of service.
David:He joined kaam and this radio program began.
David:You're about to hear the David Spoon Experience.

David:Local, national and heavenly talk.
David:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.

David:We already heard from sergeant Schultz yesterday.
David:It's not, not, not professional radio.
David:It's just radio.
David:And we're asking you, what do you think?
David:So you can Email us during the show.
David: -: David: -: David: -: David: -: David: -: David:Talking to Jam and Jacob, ladies and gentlemen.

David:All right, so here's the dealios that I want to make sure you guys get.
David:Why would you send us an email?
David:Why would you text and why would you call?
David:It could be for a praise report and we love those.
David:It could be for prayer requests and we love the opportunity to join you in what's going on through prayer.
David:Prayer with one another.
David:I know it seems so goofy, doesn't it?
David:But if we do it right, if you pray and it's sincere, if it's real and not phony and not religious, if it's genuine because there's an authenticity of your connection to Jesus and your genuine desire for others to do well.
David:When we join one another in that element, it becomes a fellowship, it becomes a joint venture, and it becomes a manifestation of the kingdom of God.
David:When you connect to another Christian, that's so powerful.
David:When two or more are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst.
David:Wow.
David:Right?
David:Phenomenal.
David:So maybe you've got a prayer request.
David:Give us that opportunity to join you and be a part of the family.
David:That way.
David:Maybe you've got a scripture, you got something that's on your heart and mind.
David:Maybe you just want to share something.
David:Maybe you just want to say merry Christmas.
David:That's awesome.
David:On December 25th, you could say, happy Hanukkah.
David:That's good too.
David:Right?
David:Here's the bottom line.
David:The bottom line is you're welcome to reach out by phone, by text or by email.
David:Maybe.
David:Now, wait a minute.
David:Maybe you even have a potential answer to this trivia question.
David:I don't know.
David:Maybe you do.
David: It's coming out of Romans: David: It's coming out of Romans: David:Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with what?
David:Don't be overcome by evil.
David:Certainly implying there is that possibility.
David:Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with what?
David: -: David: -: David: -: David: -: David:Or you can send an email, davidemustincrease.org so I wanna give you that opportunity.
David:I do wanna remind people to check things out on the website.
David:Let me bring this point out.
David:If you go to the website and you see a book and you want a book but you can't afford it, you just tell us and we will gladly get it for you and send it to you.
David:Might take a couple extra days on the.
David:On the route, because we're not going to overnight it because that's like 18 bucks.
David:We're not going to do that, but we'll send it to you.
David:That's what counts.
David:Got it?
David:Okay.
David:All right.
David:Keeping it as straightforward as we can keep it.
David:Here's your trivia question.
David:Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with.
David:Okay, we do have somebody on the line.
David:Are they ready to answer a trivia question?
David:Let's send them on through.
David:Knock, knock.
David:This is David.
David:Who am I talking to?
David:Hi, David, it's Deborah.
David:Hi, Deborah.
David:How are ya?
David:I'm doing well.
David:How are you?
David:I'm doing well.
David:I'm doing well.
David:I'm gonna have some time off tomorrow because of the sporting event, but.
David:But I'll end up doing an interview with somebody, so that's gonna take an hour.
David:So I guess it's not really a total day off, is it?
David:I don't get a lot of those.
David:I just want to point that out, but it's okay.
David:But thank you for asking, Deborah.
David:I appreciate that.
David:All right, I'm gonna set you up and let you hit it out of the park, and I just know you're gonna get it.
David:Okay.
David:All right.
David:If I don't talk to you, Merry Christmas.
David:Just wanna say that to you ahead of time.
David:Okay.
David:Thank you.
David:You, too.
David:Thank you.
David:Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
David:That is correct, Emma.
David:This is that practical application that I love in the scripture.
David:It's like, look, we're not making this difficult.
David:You can pretty much tell a lot of evil things.
David:Don't be overcome by those.
David:Do good.
David:That's how you're supposed to be as a Christian.
David:It's like.
David:Okay, got it.
David:Excellent job, Deborah.
David:Excellent.
David:All right, well, y'all have a good.
Deborah:Time off, and we'll talk to you next week.
David:You got it.
David:God bless.
David:God bless.
David:Bye bye.
David:Bye bye.
David:All right.
David:Phenomenal job as she is our number one guesser of all trivia.
David:You gotta love that.
David:Meantime, we're gonna do our DNA.
David:You gotta love that, too.
David:I love DNA.
David:I just try to experience it every single day because it's worth it.
David:That's why.
David:Because laying up treasures in heaven is awesome, but hanging out with God while you're doing that and drawing all your strength from him is just wise.
David:That's all.
David:D Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David:Just spend some time with the Lord, because people will say, well, how do I go about that?
David:There are 10,000 ways to really go about it in the sense of how you put it into your day.
David:But if you're somebody that you got so many crowded things going on in your life, you're having a hard time coordinating the planning of it.
David:Take 15 minutes less sleep and ask God to make up the difference for you when you're spending time with Him.
David:There.
David:There you go.
David:There's your time.
David:Won't get a lot of sleep as it is.
David:Well, maybe this will help.
David:I mean, it's just like every answer you can come up with, the answer is, still, this is the best thing.
David:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David:Separate yourself so you can hang out with the King.
David:Separate yourself.
David:Wait, wait.
David:This is probably the best line.
David:So you can hang out with your Creator and understand the purpose of you being created.
David:Wow.
David:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David:D N Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David:Luke 9:26.
David:If anyone's ashamed of me and my words, when I come in the Father's glory with the angels, I'll be ashamed of them.
David:Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't.
David:Don't, don't.
David:And don't sit there and say, well, I understand everything in the word of God.
David:I.
David:I've never met anybody except for Jesus who really gets that.
David:But I trust him and I trust.
David:Wait, wait, here's the big part.
David:He can write a book.
David:I mean, if he speaks.
David:And then there's the universe and the earth and mankind and all the other stuff.
David:I'm gonna go out on a limb and go, he can write a book.
David:Yeah.
David:All right.
David:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David:By the way, Jesus is called the Word of God.
David:Let's remember that.
David:So d Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David:A Always be ready.
Jacob:To serve.
David:Ready, ready, ready, ready, ready on the ready.
David:That's actually one of the calls for people.
David:It's like just being at attention.
David:It's not like you have to be legalistic about this.
David:So I'd like to kind of clear the air on some of that.
David:It doesn't mean you sit there and you're watching or you're watching some television or you're doing something at work.
David:And every three seconds you go, now, God, now, now, now, now, now.
David:Okay, don't do that.
David:That's just weird.
David:Okay?
David:Just make sure that you are not so caught up in you or your work or your family or you.
David:That's the big one.
David:So that you are available to be used by God for anything.
David:That's what it calls us to.
David:That's what the gospel calls us to be like.
David:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David:A Always be ready to serve.
David:Into the text we go.
David:Colossians, chapter one.
David:Picking it up in verse 24.
David:Now verse 24, get ready.
David:Okay, okay, here we go.
David:Verse 24.
David:Now.
David:I rejoice in my sufferings for you.
David:Stop.
David:You what?
David:I rejoice in my sufferings for you.
David:Paul, don't you know that everything is about positive this and positive that?
David:If everybody just had the positive attitude, there would never be any problems.
David:The problem with that thinking is it's a lie.
David:How could you say that, Dave?
David:If it was nothing but the power of positive thinking, every home team in every sporting event would win every game.
David:That's just dumb.
David:And I know people are like, well, wait a minute now.
David:No, no, wait a minute.
David:You know, buy the ticket so you can see your team lose.
David:Verse 24.
David:Paul says, I rejoice in my sufferings for you.
David:I rejoice.
David:And you think, well, how Is it possible that this guy could be rejoicing in sufferings?
David:And it's really.
David:It's actually kind of quite simple.
David:And that is simply this.
David:It connects him to Jesus.
David:I hear all these people saying, well, I want to be like Jesus, but I want this and this and this.
David:Do you want to be like Jesus or not?
David:It's yes or no.
David:Because if not, then that's a whole other sin issue that has to be dealt with.
David:But Jesus was a man acquainted with sorrows, so there's a connection.
David:Does that mean you don't have the strength to get through it?
David:No.
David:Look at how Jesus endured everything and overcame.
David:That's what we're talking about.
David:I mean, it's just beautiful in its own way because we connect to the Lord.
David:That the main point of the book that I wrote, when I wrote Broken for His Glory, which originally had church disappointment, his appointment was the original title.
David:And then I changed it to Broken for His Glory because I liked that title better.
David:And I decided to change it and change a whole bunch of things in the book.
David:Here's what it's all about.
David:That suffering that I went through as a Christian at a church helped me to.
David:To see Jesus more clearly and to be better at following Jesus and to reflect Jesus more.
David:And after all, I'm the one just like you.
David:Who said, I wanna be like you?
David:Jesus.
David:And God goes, okay.
David:And he's still answering that one today.
David:All right, we'll take a short break, then we'll come back.
David:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas Show.
David:Great.
David:We'll be back.
David:Don't go anywhere.
David:Since the dawn of the Internet, people have been looking for a website they can be proud of without costing an arm or a leg.
David:People want a quality website to promote their ministry, business, hobby or passion.
David:Introducing Compunch sites.
David:Cowpunch sites can help you create and maintain a quality website.

David:Oh, did I mention that it's $57 a month.
David:Cowpunch sites, $57 a month.
David:And that's no bull.
David:Um, Dave, this is a nice radio station.
David:Oops, sorry.
David:That's cowpunch sites, $57 a month.
David:And that's no buny there.
David:That's better.
David:Cowpunchsites.com dad, like any person searching for answers, I too have wondered about him.
David:He has a weird sense of humor.
David:If people are seeking wisdom and insight from the great teachers around the world, would they go to David?
David:No, I don't think so.
David:Those big ears really don't help.
David:Will people enjoy his perspective on culture, politics, food, sports, and local and national news?
David:I don't know.
David:He's just a client.
David:Tune in to the David Spoon Experience on kaam.
David:Here's what I want you to get.
David:Here's what I want you to understand.
David:Bad news does not necessitate that there is nowhere else to go except to weep.
David:In Psalm 112, verse 7, the Scripture says, he will not fear bad news.
David:His heart is confident, trusting in the Lord.
David:It's not pie in the sky to look at the situation, go, gosh, it's terrible.
David:But I'm going to hold hope because hope is the only thing I have to move past it.
David:If it never comes about, that's fine.
David:But I'm going to live every day believing that there's a better tomorrow.
David:When people think of that, they think, oh, Christianity, it's a crutch.
David:It's the opiate of the people, is what Karl Marx said.
David:It takes more guts, more strength, more determination in this day and age to be a Christian and to stand in your faith than it does to be any other thing that there is, because it's the Christians who are under persecution and it's the people of faith that are getting slaughtered and, oh, by the way, throughout the world.
David:That's taking place.
David:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David:That's K double amen.
David:770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David:Wow.
David:I'm excited about this next part of the teaching that's coming up, plus a whole bunch of other things.
David:Let's get our next trivia question in.
David:This is another good one.
David: Corinthians: David:Who said that?
David: First Corinthians, chapter: David: ,: David: -: David: -: David: -: David:You can send an email davidemustincrease.org okay, it's pretty straightforward.
David: Corinthians: David:Okay.
David:Who said, when I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, that is the question.
David:And if you can't figure it out, just kind of think it through, process through again.
David:I want to remind people we've got a lot of different things coming up.
David:We're going to be going into some new books because we're going to be closing out some old books.
David:It is never wrong for you to reach out to me by text or email to say, hey, I'd like to cover this, or I'd like to cover that.
David:We are covering Revelation.
David:If you miss it, you still want to hear it.
David:It's always on the podcast.
David:All that stuff's free, total access.
David:No matter what anybody ever says, does or thinks, we just want people to be able to be blessed and encouraged in the Lord.
David:I mean, that's just a good thing, isn't it?
David:I think it's a good thing.
David:Anyway.
David:All right, we do have somebody.
David:I think they are ready to answer the trivia question.
David:So let's do that.
David:Let's send them on through.
David:Knock, knock.
David:This is David.
David:Who am I talking to?
Deborah:Dr.
Deborah:Foley?
David:Talking to Fred.
David:And Merry Christmas to you.
David:Merry Christmas to you, my friend.
David:How are you?
David:I'm doing fine, sir.
David:Awesome.
David:I'm glad to hear that, my friend.
David:Let me set it up for you, and then we'll let you take it from there.
David:Here it is.
David: Who said First Corinthians: David:Who said, When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child.
David:The man who is responsible probably was the 13 or 14 epistles that he wrote.
David:That man would be the apostle Paul.
David:That is correctamundoo.
David:You are right.
David:I mean, you have to love this passage.
David:Smack dab in the middle of the love chapter.
David:Right?
David:Exactly right.
David:And well put.
David:Between chapter 12 and 14 of 1 Corinthians, which has a lot to do with the gifts.
David:And you're like, going, huh, I wonder why I stuck it there.
David:Oh, I get it.
David:Yeah.
David:That was great.
David:I love it, I love it.
David:Awesome, awesome, awesome, brother.
David:Just phenomenal.
David:Phenomenal.
David:Stuff.
David:Love it.
David:Love it.
David:God bless you.
David:And I'll hang upstairs.
David:All right, my brother.
David:God bless you.
David:All right.
David:Excellent job.
David:I love calls like that.
David:They're fun.
David:Okay.
David:In the meantime, I do have to do this, and I'm sorry, you're just gonna have to deal with it.
David:Cause I'm not gonna have a whole bunch of time on a lot of things we're gonna do.
David:I'm gonna actually leave it up to Jacob.
David:We're either gonna do history or jokes.
David:Okay.
David:So it's up to you which one.
Jacob:Let's do history.
David:Let's do history.
David:Set it up.
David:Let's go live Faith in the past.
David:Let's go live Faith in the past.
David:All right, this today is National Oatmeal Muffin Day.
David:Like, really, right?
David:Have you ever had an oatmeal muffin?
Jacob:I don't think I have.
David:Excellent.
David:I'm just telling you excellent if you're a muffin person, right?
David:I mean, I'm just saying I like it.
Jacob:Okay, so you're saying it's good enough to deserve its own day.
David:Yes, it is.
David:In fact, because it's so unique, it's also National Re Gifting Day.
David:I shouldn't say this out loud because I know if my kids ever hear it, I know that's what they're doing.
David:Regifting.
David:Oh, I got this.
David:Oh, wait, I've never used this.
David:Oh, I have an idea.
David:I'll wrap it up in different paper.
Jacob:That reminds me of.
Jacob:There's an episode of the Office, a Christmas episode, where they're.
Jacob:They're all getting each other gifts around the office, and character Jim opens up a gift and it's like a button up shirt and just like a grocery bag.
Jacob:And he says, oh, where'd you get this?
Jacob:And other character Creed goes, I don't know.
Jacob:It was so long ago.
Jacob:He just found it in his closet and threw it in a bag.
David:That, my friends, is true re gifting right there.
David:Today is also National Hard Candy Day.
David:And I like that because hard candy, I talk a lot, and so on and so forth.
David:Hard candy is good for my throat.
David:It helps me.
David:A couple other things, then we'll let this go.
David:And some of this is fascinating.
David:1732.
David:On this day, Benjamin Franklin began his publication of Poor Richard's Almanac, which is still more accurate than all the weather people put together.
David: Still, even though it was in: David:Here's the last one.
David:1958, first radio voice broadcast from space.
David:Pre recorded Christmas message by United States President Dwight D.
David:Eisenhower from the Earth.
David:And it was on the satellite score as part of the Project Score signal communication by orbital relay equipment.
David: dcast in space on this day in: David:You just think, that's so weird.
David:Like now it's like, so.
David: But then in: David:They must have had it going a lot sooner than we thought.
David:That's all I can think sometimes.
David:What do you think?
David:That's weird.
David:Okay, let's get back into the text.
David:This is portion that I love.
David:Back to that Colossians, we said, now I rejoice in my sufferings for you.
David:Paul said verse 24.
David:Listen to what he says on the rest of the verse.
David:I rejoice in my sufferings for you.
David:And I fill up in my flesh what is lacking in regard to Christ's affliction for the sake of his body, which is the church.
David:You don't go through suffering for nothing.
David:I don't know what it is about our mindsets that tells us God must really be bored because apparently our lives are prime time in heaven.
David:And all the stuff that's going on, there's just something inside of us that tweaks or our brain just kind of falls out one ear or something.
David:The things that we go through help us to reflect Jesus Christ more and more.
David:That is the primary element.
David:The secondary element is the same thing as the summation of the commandments.
David:I'm going to show you this connection.
David:The secondary element for you going through things is for the sake of people in the church, other Christians, other believers.
David:So the summation of the commandment is love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and love your neighbor as you love yourself.
David:It doesn't say you don't love yourself because you can't love your neighbor if you have no love for yourself.
David:But what's missing is people need to see that it's to God first and then to others, right?
David:But here Paul is saying the exact same thing.
David:And he's telling people, look, you're going through this suffering.
David:It's going to make you reflect Jesus more, God first, and it's for others, so you can help people help the body of Christ, which is the church.
David:So you're going through the trouble, you're going through the struggle, you're going through the fight, you're going through the issue, you're going through the circumstance.
David:And it's not just about you.
David:It's about reflecting Jesus and helping others.
David:And we tend to forget that now.
David:What would be amazing for us is, well, number one, if we use the word of God, that'd probably be pretty amazing right there.
David:But if, when we're going through a trial, we could get the understanding, look, whatever this is, it's going to make me more like Jesus and somebody's going to be blessed because God's going to use me after this process to help somebody get through their stage.
David:Now, don't tell me that doesn't take the ouch out of some of it, because it does.
David:It makes you realize that what you go through isn't God going, I'm judging you, I'm judging you.
David:Na, na na, na na.
David:It's the Lord going, I'm letting you go through this stuff so that you can be what I want you to be.
David:And you can also be used the way I want to use you.
David:That's what's beautiful about it.
David:And it's just absolutely fascinating.
David:If we could grow up.
David:Oh, my goodness, I can't believe I said that.
David:If we could mature.
David:Isn't that funny?
David:We just did this trivia question on being a child, speaking like a child, understanding like a child, thinking like a child.
David:That was the trivia question.
David:And the truth is, if we really want to be mature, we need to take a mature attitude of what's going on around us.
David:God is having you reflect Jesus more and more, trial by trial, glory by glory, step by step.
David:And, oh, additionally, it's for the sake of other people.
David:But see what happens?
David:And this happens.
David:We get so focused inwardly, we think it's just all about our little universe.
David:That is not how God planned His foreknowledge, his wisdom, his.
David:His purposes, his predestinations.
David:It's not just so it can all be focused on you or I'll be focused on me.
David:First of all, it's supposed to all be focused on him and then for his glory, and then to take that and bless other people with it.
David:Don't tell me that's not a Christmas message.
David:It's exactly a Christmas message.
David:Get it?
David:Okay, take a short break here and then come back.
David:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 7, the truth station here in Texas.
David:Short break.
David:We'll be back.
David:Don't go anywhere.
David:You know, it's not just the audience that needs stuff.
David:Sometimes the host needs a little bit of a, you know, a little.
David:Tell me.
David:The show's all about you.
David:Well, this segment is about the show, but I would say this segment, and it actually has a title for the ddd.
David:It's called Joke Time.
David:Is Christian Humor Allowed in Teaching?
David:We've actually had complaints.
David:You know, you can't teach the gospel and use humor.
David:That's why Jesus called James and John the sons of thunder, because it wasn't a humorous quip.
David:You're right.
David:Pretty bad exegetical process.
David:But let's look at it.
David:Proverbs, chapter 17, verse 22.
David: Proverbs: David:A joyful heart is good medicine.
David:A joyful heart is good medicine.
David:You've heard that before.
David:That's not new.
David:You know, that's the case.
David:But what happens is people take these unique interpretations in Scripture and they think that it applies to all processes.
David:So somebody actually said to a member at our station, you can't use levity in the gospel proclamation because Paul says, you can't do it in Second Corinthians.
David:And it's like, wrong answer.
David:This is why we do the thing called read.
David:That's always fun.
David:And Second Corinthians 1:7 says this.
David:In case you were trying to figure out where did that word levity come from?
David:It's only in one translation.
David:It's actually never used in any other capacity.
David:But here is what he was talking about.
David:Was I fickle when I intended to do this or when I made my plans?
David:Did I make so in a worldly manner in the same breath as to say, yes, yes, and no?
David:No.
David:The only time that the potential word levity is used is when Paul is talking about meeting with the Corinthians.
David:And the one interpretation you could use is, was I using lightness?
David:It's not really the word for levity, just in case you're wondering.
David:But was I used.
David:Did I use lightness when I made my plans with you?
David:In other words, was I kidding around when I made plans to come see you?
David:No.
David:That's what Paul said.
David:Not, you can never use humor.
David:So whoever kind of swapped those two together really needs.
David:Really needs to, like, relax.
David:I think that would be the key.
David:And then for those that are just curious, you know, when the gospel talks about.
David:This is kind of one of those classic things.
David:When the gospel talks about making declaration and the foolishness of preaching the word is from which we get the word silliness.
David:So Paul's like, yeah, preaching the gospel that for the Greek people and for the Jewish people in large.
David:It's a kind of like a silliness thing.
David:Yeah, that's what he said.
David:The David Spoon experience.
David:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David:That's Ka Men 770, the Truth Station here in Texas, where we're doing another show that is zipping by at the spot speed of light.
David:Here is your next trivia question.
David:This is Jesus in John 10:9.
David:He said, I am the.
David:You're going to fill in that blank by me.
David:If any man enters in, he shall be saved.
David:There are two words that are acceptable for the answer to this.
David:I am the.
David:I am the what by me.
David:If any man enters in, he shall be saved.
David:That is in John 10.
David:9.
David: -: David: You can also text: David:If any man enters in, he shall be saved.
David:What is he Think about the passage John 10:9.
David:All I'm going to say to people that are answering right now is John 10:9, not John 14.
David:6.
David:That's all I'm going to say to you.
David:I am the.
David:Remember, there's several I am thes.
David:There's several of them.
David:You got to figure out which one it is.
David:If you think you know, reach out to us by text or by phone or by email.
David:In the meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website.
David:Keep it very simple.
David:One week from tomorrow we have to pay radio rent.
David:We do not have the money.
David:Okay?
David:That doesn't mean we will not get the money.
David:We just do not have it at this point.
David:Okay?
David:So anything that anybody can do, that's a part of it.
David:Great.
David:I do not want people to give beyond their means, so to speak.
David:I want you to be led by the Lord and for those that give, you've done plenty.
David:I appreciate it greatly.
David:For those who have never given, I'm just saying, simply asking you to petition and see if it's permissible and if the Lord allows you, then do it.
David:And if not, don't worry about it.
David:I'd rather everybody do what God wants.
David:My life is better if everybody's doing what God wants, because that's what I want to do.
David:I just want to do what God wants, right?
David:That's how it is in a nutshell.
David:Check it out on the website.
David:If you plan to give or just thinking about it or praying about it, go to hemustincrease.org Prayer request.
David:Hemostincrease.org Praise report.
David:Hemost.org Looking to give to this ministry.
David:Hemostincrease.org Confused by what's happening right now.
David:Hemustincrease.org Hemustincrease.org if you're blue and you don't know where to go to, why don't you go where fashion sits?
David:Sign on the Ritz.
David:Okay, Little good Jewish one for me right there.
David:That's good.
David:I like it.
David:Little Mel Brooksie.
David:Okay, your trivia question's out there.
David:We have somebody ready to answer the trivia question.
David:Let's send them on through.
David:Knock, knock.
David:This is David.
David:Who am I talking to?
David:Hey, it's Shell.
David:Hi, Shell.
David:How are ya?
Deborah:I am today.
Deborah:I'm actually feeling nice and warm like yesterday.
Deborah:We're feeling nice and cold.
David:So you went from nice and cold to nice and warm.
David:That's good, right?
David:That is good.
David:That is good.
Deborah:Don't have two coats on, gloves and a hat.
David:That's classic, my friend.
David:That's classic.
David:All right, you ready for the trivia question?
Deborah:Yeah.
David:Yep.
David:All right, here we go.
David:I am the blank.
David:By me, if any man enters in, he shall be saved, according to Jesus.
David:John 10, 9.
David:What do we got for an answer on that one?
David:Depending on the version that you're reading.
Deborah:It'S either gate or door.
David:That is 100% correct, Amanda.
David:Exactly correct.
David:It is either gate or door.
David:And Jesus is just so.
David:I love this imagery.
David:Okay.
David:God has heaven as his home.
David:Jesus is the door to get into God's house.
David:That's it.
David:You can't miss that.
David:It's like.
David:Got it.
David:Okay.
David:Love it.
David:Love it.
David:Great answer, by the way.
David:Nailing both of them initially.
David:Very good.
David:Thank you very much.
David:You're welcome.
David:Kept it in English.
Deborah:I could have thrown another language in there, too.
David:See, now you're doing well.
David:Now, if I asked you to do it in Swahili, it could be tougher, but I'll trust you on the language element.
David:All right, my brother.
David:Excellent job.
Deborah:Thank you.
David:Thank you.
David:All right.
David:God bless, bro.
David:God bless you.
David:Bye, bye, bye.
David:All right, we're going to do a fast prayer for everybody real quickly.
David:I want to pray Amanda.
David:Nancy's Amanda has a scheduled MRI for her brain tomorrow, so let's pray for that.
David:And I just want to pray for everybody to be keeping, keeping away from fidgety, freaking, outy kind of thing.
David:So let's just pray that real quickly.
David:Father, we come before you right now.
David:We thank you and we praise you and of course, we lift up Amanda to you.
David:She's got that schedule for checking the mri.
David:And we are praying for great news.
David:Might not hear it on the air tomorrow, but Nance can let me know.
David:And we just pray for great news, that everything would be good.
David:That's what we're asking for.
David:Lord, you're good.
David:So we ask you to have a good report come from this.
David:And for all of us, Lord, who are feeling a little antsy about what's coming up, that, Lord God, we might rest in your peace, the peace that passes understanding, and not be like Martha's, who are just stressed out about things and serving, but sit at your feet and draw closer to you.
David:Help us to be a little bit more Mary and a little less Martha.
David:We could use your help for that.
David:We pray that and for Amanda and for everybody else's wellness.
David:In Jesus name, amen and amen.
David:In the meantime, we are going to do Jake's take.
David:All right, Jake, because I won't be here tomorrow.
David:You got the weekend stuff coming up.
David:What do we got on Jake's take?
Jacob:Let's start with the early game.
Jacob:So Sunday at noon, the Detroit Lions coming off a loss.
Jacob:David, take on the Chicago Bears.
Jacob:I'm going to pick the Lions to bounce back after their loss last week.
Jacob:I think they bounced back and beat the Bears.
David:I actually am going to pick that, too.
David:They're actually playing in Chicago.
Jacob:Yes.
David:But I think Detroit's going to have had that week where they got together and said, that was lame.
David:We're not doing that again.
David:So.
David:And if not, then I'm going to be thinking, I'm just going to get a turkey and start cooking it, and every Sunday I'll have turkey.
David:And that way if they lose, it'll feel like normal.
Jacob:Yeah.
Jacob:I think.
Jacob:Even if.
Jacob:Even though it's in Chicago, I think the Lions win.
Jacob:If they don't win, then we might be talking about, oh, is the lines or old lines are rearing their head?
Jacob:I don't know.
David:Yeah.
David:And we don't want to hear this.
David:And the wheels on the bus go around it.
David:We don't want that.
David:We don't want that happen.
David:All right.
Jacob:If they do lose on Monday, I will grab that song and play it just for Jake's take.
David:All right.
David:And for the other game, what do we got?
Jacob:So for the other game, we have the Dallas Cowboys at home playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jacob:That's Sunday night.
Jacob:I'm going to go with the Cowboys.
Jacob:It's in Arlington.
Jacob:I think the Cowboys beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
David:So you're going with the Cowboys beating Tampa Bay.
David:I am going to differ with you.
Jacob:Okay.
David:I am going to go with Tampa Bay.
David:For some reason, I feel like they're in a little bit of a surge.
David:We'll see.
David:We'll see how that goes.
David:I'm going to.
David:I'm going to differ with you.
David:I'm still going to root for Dallas.
Jacob:Right.
Jacob:You still have your T shirt that you haven't burned yet?
David:Not going to burn my shirt, but I do think that could be some problematic things.
David:Okay.
David:All right.
Jacob:That's fun, though.
Jacob:We picked different there for the Sunday night game.
Jacob:So we'll find out Monday.
David:We will see.
David:Monday.
David:That is correct.
David:So so far, are we even or am I one up?
David:I think we're either even or one up.
David:One up.
Jacob:I think you're one up.
Jacob:Yeah.
David:Okay, well, let me know.
David:All right.
David:All right, let's get into the teaching.
David:And before we exit today, I'm going to pray.
David:So, Shel, I should have asked you, Shel, that's my fault.
David:But he's got stuff going on in his Christmas Eve.
David:His dad had passed away that day, so we're going to pray for him.
David:In fact, let's do that now.
David:Just bear with me, because that's worthwhile.
David:He's got a job interview actually on that day or right around that time.
David:So let's just pray for the Lord to bless our brother shall.
David:Okay, Father, we come before you right now.
David:And Colossians chapter 1, verse 29 tells us that you provide energy.
David:Paul said, I operate by the energy that God gives me.
David:And so, Lord, I'm asking for you to give Shel that energy for the interview he's got to do.
David:And just for in between now and then.
David:But we're also asking that you would bless him on Christmas Eve and that though there could be some tougher reflections and some sorrow elements, that you would be the comfort that he needs to help him prevail and push through and that this would be a much better Christmas Eve than he anticipates because of you, because you're the reason.
David:So we lift him up before you and ask you to bless him in Jesus name.
David:Amen and amen.
David:Amen.
David:All right.
David:Now I want to get into this text.
David:I want to make sure you get this because the last part of this is much better than the rest of it.
David:But I want to get to this.
David:Verse 25.
David:Paul says, I became its servant, referring to the gospel and referring to the teachings.
David:I became its servant by the commission of God given to me to fully proclaim to you the word of God.
David:The mystery that was hidden for ages and generations, but is now revealed to his saints.
David:One of Paul's great things is his willingness to tell it all.
David:When he was talking to the Galatians, he said, am I become your enemy because I tell you the truth?
David:People get mad when you tell them different things.
David:I know you're thinking, no, no, no.
David:You'd be amazed how people get really upset with me if I say one thing or another.
David:Being Baptistal, it gives you the hilariousness of both worlds.
David:It gives you the best and the worst of both worlds.
David:And so people get upset and it's like, look, our job is to add, not to cherry pick in Scripture, okay?
David:If you're looking to cherry pick in Scripture, you are not reading the word of God.
David:All scripture connects to all scripture, and no commentary is better than scripture itself on Scripture.
David:And it should be noted that even in another place where Paul said, I have not failed to you to preach the full counsel of God.
David:Everything needs to be preached.
David:It is true that we're supposed to love one another, but it is also true that we're supposed to love, do unto good to the brethren, even more so because they're of the household of God.
David:It is true that we are supposed to love one another, but love does not consist of appreciating or blessing other people's sins.
David:And you have to put this all together.
David:And when Jesus demonstrated love to the rich young man, he loved him and told him what he was lacking.
David:That's got to be a part of the teaching too.
David:Not just bits and pieces to make everybody peaceful.
David:Jesus said, I didn't come to bring peace, but a sword.
David:You don't like that.
David:I know, but it's in the book.
David:That's exactly what I'm talking about.
David:So we preach the whole thing.
David:Remember, Jesus said it is written, but then the next time he said, it is also written because there has to be a balance.
David:All the Word, not some of it.
David:God didn't write part of the book.
David:He wrote all of the book.
David:Genesis 11 to Revelation 22, 21, 39 in the Old Testament, 27 in the New.
David:Roughly 40 authors, 785,000 words in the King James, 760,000 words in the NIV.
David:Deal with it.
David:We, we need all of it.
David:Get it because it's a message, the word from God.
David:Let's just remember that.
David:We're going to take our break and come back for the final.
David:You're listening to the David's Moon Experience right here on KAAM 770, the truth station here on KAM 770, the Texas statement.
David:Thanksgiving for all the blessings.
David:What is the David Spoon Experience?
David:Ladies and gentlemen, it's been my privilege in my past.
David:I've been a Christian for a short time, only about 40 years.
David:But when I was in my first year, I had a chance to meet James Robeson, who had a chance to pray for my brother and myself.
David:Very helpful at a very needful time as we were fighting our way out of a Christian cult.
David:And he prayed for clarity.
David:And it was just a pastors gathering in Phoenix, Arizona.
David:And I have the privilege again of interviewing one of what I consider to be one of the great men of God who are still with us on this planet.
David:And I just want to give a wholehearted welcome, open door and open heart to James Robeson.
David:Thank you, sir, for being a part of our show and a part of our audience.
Deborah:David, it's a pleasure to join with you and I'm grateful that praying together was meaningful to you and a very important part of me point in your life.
Deborah:So just joy to be with you and your listeners.
Deborah:Now, David, can I just download what I believe is the heart of our heavenly Father to your listeners for a few minutes?
David:Yes, please, by all means.
Deborah:When I spoke to the leaders before the election and I talked about the need, this is in Washington.
Deborah:There were nearly 2,000 pastors and church leaders there.
Deborah:And I said, I'm telling you, there are people right now who are being captivated by the Jesus they see in some of our lives.
Deborah:Now, Sid, listen to me.
Deborah:We have a fatherless nation desperately need of a father.
Deborah:If we as believers, as Christians who have the perfect father, if we would show people clearly what the family of the perfect father looks like, I believe the fatherless would run to the father and the father's house.
Deborah:And I believe that I said that to the president of the United States.
Deborah:I said, sir, your children say you're a good father.
Deborah:Eric Trump happened to be sitting by me when I first said that.
Deborah:Eric said he's a great father.
Deborah:I said, well, he may be, but that doesn't mean he's flawless.
Deborah:I do believe that we need a father and I believe we can pray and God can raise up people that have a Father's heart.
Deborah:And so I began to emphasize the church, revealing what the Father's like.
Deborah:Now listen to me.
Deborah:We as believers comprise the body of Christ, the body of born again, baptized into Christ.
Deborah:Believers who are born from above.
Deborah:We have a perfect heavenly Father who reveals his will.
Deborah:He's not willing that any should perish.
Deborah:He said, you call on me and I'll heal your land.
Deborah:Now listen to me, Christian believers.
Deborah:We're not looking for a champion.
Deborah:We've got one.
Deborah:He's the only one that rides the white horse.
Deborah:We're not looking for a king.
Deborah:We have a king.
Deborah:The King of kings, the Lord of Lords.
Deborah:That's Jesus.
Deborah:He holds kings in his hand.
Deborah:Our King, our shepherd, Our Father said, come to me as my family and you ask me to heal your land.
Deborah:In desperate need of healing, you come in humility.
Deborah:You come knowing I'm the only one that can heal and I can use imperfect vessels to accomplish my perfect will.
Deborah:I always have.
Deborah:I always will.
David:Foreign welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David:That's Ka Man 770, the Truth Station here in Texas, where when I just exited, I said the word statement instead of station because eyes are brilliant.
David:Anyway, we told you it's not professional radio.
David:Okay, here's your last trivia question.
David:If you don't get this, I would be very upset.
David:Romans 6:23.
David:For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is.
David:Romans 6:23.
David: -: David: -: David: -: David: -: David:Davidemustincrease.org Romans chapter 6, verse 23.
David:Everybody should know this.
David:For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is.
David: -: David:Okay, okay, listen, listen.
David:The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is what?
David:Romans 6:23.
David:Everybody should know this.
David:That's all I'm saying.
David:I'm not trying to be mean about it.
David:Let's not be mean.
David:I'm telling you, you should know this.
David:Okay, just keeping it simple.
David:This is part of the Romans road, so you guys should know the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is what?
David:What?
David:Romans, chapter 6, verse 23.
David: -: David:So let's send them on through.
David:Knock, knock.
David:This is David.
David:Who am I talking to?
Deborah:This is Curtis.
David:David.
Deborah:How are you doing, my brother?
David:I'm doing wonderful, Curtis.
David:It's great to hear your voice.
Deborah:You too, my friend, as always.
Deborah:I hope you're having a nice day today.
Deborah:Sounds like you're having fun.
David:I am.
David:I am.
David:I'm superbly blessed.
David:Superbly blessed.
David:I just got to say that.
David:Highly favored.
Deborah:Me too, brother.
David:All right.
Deborah:Me too, my brother.
David:All right, now, here we go, bro.
David:I'm going to set you up for it and you give you the chance to fill it in.
David:Here it is right.
David:Straightforward.
David:Romans, chapter 6, verse 23.
David:For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is.
Deborah:Eternal life in Jesus Christ.
David:That is correct, Emmanuel.
David:That is right.
David:The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
David:Romans, chapter 6, verse 23.
David:And there is nothing better than this.
David:That is there.
Deborah:Oh, you're absolutely right.
Deborah:I was about to say the same thing.
David:Excellent job, my brother.
David:Excellent, excellent response.
David:Love it.
David:Fantastic.
Deborah:Well, David, you know, I just made a delivery in my last stop, and I walked in and they had a pallet full of smoked turkeys.
Deborah:And the lady was signing my paperwork, and I was kind of like, man, that's a lot of smoked turkey sitting there.
Deborah:And she's like, well, you can have mine because my husband doesn't like turkey.
Deborah:And I went, okay, I got a free turkey in the backseat of the truck.
David:That is awesome.
David:How awesome is that?
David:Congratulations.
David:That's awesome.
David:What a nice blessing that is for you.
Deborah:Yes, it is.
Deborah:Me and my daughter will enjoy this turkey very much.
Deborah:It's just the two of us, so it ought to last us a little.
David:While, day or two.
David:Anyway, I think it's awesome, though.
David:Congratulations on that and enjoy that turkey.
David:Thank you, David.
Deborah:Merry Christmas to you and Jacob, my brother.
David:You too, my brother.
David:God bless you.
David:You too.
David:Bye bye.
David:Bye bye.
David:All right, let me finish this off.
David:Just phenomenal.
David:I got to do it because it's so great, and I can't not do it.
David:So you know that verse 27 of Colossians chapter 1 says this to them.
David:God has chosen to make known among the gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery.
David:Ooh, God's going to tell us a mystery.
David:What is it?
David:Which is Christ in you?
David:The hope of glory.
David:Now you want to talk about a Christmas message.
David:Hello.
David:This incredible statement.
David:The hope of glory.
David:There are so many things that you and I hope for, right?
David:Hope for a family, hope for your spouses, your children, your parents, your friends, your neighbors, your co workers, your city, your state, your, your country, the earth.
David:Yeah, got it.
David:All of them temporary compared to the hope of glory that is Jesus Christ.
David:Do you know what Jesus represents?
Deborah:Hope.
David:Christ in you is the hope.
David:It's amazing.
David:People miss this.
David:Just like listen, listen.
David:It's not about what you can get, it's about whose you are.
David:And so we sit there and on a temporary basis we do this.
David:Just be honest.
David:We want to get through the next set of bills.
David:I get it.
David:I do it too.
David:We want to get through the next set of round of political strife.
David:I do it.
David:I can't stand it.
David:But it's something we got to get through.
David:We want to get through the next generation.
David:We're hoping unless the Lord comes back, this generation doesn't completely destroy everything.
David:But, but truly the hope that is connected to the glory of God is an eternal hope.
David:And there's no other hope you can have that's like this hope.
David:God has chosen to make known to us the glorious riches of his phenomenal mystery which is Christ in us.
David:The hope of glory.
David:Because Jesus is in you by faith.
