12-12-24 part 1: The Spirit of Fear vs. The Spirit of Power: Choose Wisely!
This podcast episode features Dr. David Spoon discussing the importance of maintaining faith and expectation during challenging times, particularly as the year draws to a close. He emphasizes that despite the difficulties we may face, including potential suffering or tribulation, we should not succumb to fear, as God has equipped us with power, love, and a sound mind. Dr. Spoon encourages listeners to reflect on their spiritual expectations for the remaining days of the year, urging them to seek more from the Lord rather than retreating into a survival mindset. Additionally, he highlights the significance of testing and trials in the Christian faith, framing them as opportunities for growth rather than reasons for despair. The episode blends spiritual insights with practical advice, aiming to uplift and inspire listeners to trust in God's presence and purpose, no matter the circumstances.
Dr. David Spoon engages listeners in a heartfelt exploration of faith, expectation, and the challenges faced in the Christian journey. As the year draws to a close, he poses a poignant question: Are we anticipating more from our relationship with the Lord in these last 18 days? Spoon emphasizes the importance of maintaining an attitude of expectancy, urging his audience to move beyond mere survival during the holiday season. Drawing from biblical teachings, he highlights the necessity of faith in overcoming fear and encourages listeners to embrace the promise of miracles, noting that it only takes a moment for God to act in our lives.
The discussion delves into the concept of biblical love as a guiding force in our lives, contrasting it with the spirit of fear that often paralyzes believers. Spoon references Ecclesiastes, reminding us that there is a time for everything, including laughter and reflection. He emphasizes that fear is not safe thinking, as it can immobilize individuals and hinder their walk of faith. The episode serves as a reminder that God is in control, and when we trust Him, we can face any trial without succumbing to fear.
Listeners are encouraged to engage and share their thoughts and prayer requests, fostering a sense of community and support. The episode culminates in a powerful prayer for churches and individuals facing various tribulations, reinforcing the message of hope and resilience in faith. David Spoon:Hello, everybody.
David Spoon:When it's cold outside, I've got my monthly mail.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up on today's experience.
David Spoon:It's Dr.
David Spoon:Dave's.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:Dr.
David Spoon:Doctor.
David Spoon:Can you believe it?
David Spoon:A Dr.
David Spoon:Dr.
David Spoon:Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DD DDDs, where my daily devotions become some of my spiritual reflections and yours, too.
David Spoon:Sound effects placed throughout the show, which have nothing to do with life.
David Spoon:But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh.
David Spoon:In Ecclesiastes 3, 4, the review of the Goofy news, which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.
David Spoon:And we say, yes, Come, Lord Jesus, come.
David Spoon:Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use, probably won't, if we sit on our blessed Assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?
David Spoon:Because I am blessed and highly favored, that's why.
David Spoon:Also, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.
David Spoon:Oh.
David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:My name is Dr.
David Spoon:David Spoon, and I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.
David Spoon:Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.
David Spoon:Here's the key to the show.
David Spoon:We don't know what we're doing.
David Spoon:We have no idea what's going to happen, and we don't care.
David Spoon:But for the next few minutes, I want to talk biblical love with you.
David Spoon:So here we go.
David Spoon:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
David Spoon: ,: David Spoon:So, not that I am a math genius, but somewhere in the 18 days left of the year calendar.
David Spoon:And I have a question for you, and I'm not going to hesitate to ask you.
David Spoon:Are you in the next 18 days, expecting more?
David Spoon:Looking for more in the Lord, from the Lord and of the Lord.
David Spoon:Let me just point out that yesterday, if you did not hear the teaching in the last 60 minutes, I encourage you to check it out on the website, on the podcast, encouraging you to have more and more of the Lord.
David Spoon:And it's a simple question.
David Spoon:Are you expecting more in this next 18 days, or have you already sunk back into survival?
David Spoon:Are you already like, I just gotta get through it.
David Spoon:It's the holidays.
David Spoon:I must survive.
David Spoon:Or are you expecting more because based on your expectation, you're gonna see the hand of God?
David Spoon:How can you say that, Dave?
David Spoon:Because faith moves with high expectation.
David Spoon:And without faith, it's impossible to please God.
David Spoon:So I'm asking you and challenging you, are you expecting more of, from and in the Lord in the next 18 days, recognizing that it only takes a moment for a miracle.
David Spoon:Only a moment for a miracle from God.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Hey, if you have a response to that, if you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.
David Spoon:Just reach out and give us a call.
David Spoon:I know it's a telephone, but you still know how to use it, and you can do it.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: Jim:Thank you, David.
Jim:Happy Thursday.
David Spoon:Happy Thursday to you, my friend.
David Spoon:Going over some of the schedules that are up and coming in the next couple of weeks, we do have the reminder that a week from tomorrow, I believe a week from Tomorrow is the 20th, and that will be a sporting event, if I'm correct, and I'm pretty sure I'm correct about that.
David Spoon:So just reminding everybody, a week from tomorrow will not be.
David Spoon:You won't be hearing this lovely, very unprofessional voice.
David Spoon:Oh, it's lovely, Dave.
David Spoon:How are you doing, by the way?
David Spoon:Jam and Jacob, how are things for you on your end?
David Spoon:How's it going?
Jim:It's going good.
Jim:Just trying to get as much as I can done before possibly missing Monday.
Jim:And we'll see what else if I get chosen for jury duty.
David Spoon:Well, we got that in our prayer list.
David Spoon:And we don't want people not to serve, so don't get that weird idea.
Jim:Right.
David Spoon:But Jacob has a few extra things he's trying to work out, and we want to ask the Lord to help him with that.
David Spoon:But if he needs to do jury.
David Spoon:Jury duty, let's do it.
David Spoon:Do it.
David Spoon:I mean, that's part of our commitment to trying to help one another.
David Spoon:You'd be amazed how many witnessing opportunities I've had at jury duty and one time as a radio talk show host, I got kicked out.
David Spoon:You're a radio talk show host?
David Spoon:I said.
David Spoon:She said, yeah, get out.
Jim:He said, don't mind if I do.
David Spoon:Yeah, see, I wasn't planning on staying anyway, but okay, I'm there for it anyhow.
David Spoon:Bottom line is simply this.
David Spoon:If you want to reach out, just, you know, you can do that by a telephone and you might be thinking, yeah, is there any other way to reach you?
David Spoon:Yes, we've come up with a brand new way.
David Spoon:You can rent an airplane and then behind the airplane have a little banner and on the banner you can reach out to us.
David Spoon:You only have an hour and 25 minutes to do it, but you can do it if you can pay for it and you got a message.
David Spoon:And then we'll do our best to take a look at that.
David Spoon:Outside of that, you can text us.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:A little softer, a little slower.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:So you can call us, you can text us, you can email us.
David Spoon:David must increase.org d a v I d david@he must increase.org that comes right to my little phone.
David Spoon:Plus it's on my laptop.
David Spoon:It's all working together and it's working together nicely.
David Spoon:Why would you reach out to us?
David Spoon:Maybe you've got a praise report.
David Spoon:We would love to hear it.
David Spoon:Really just share it.
David Spoon:You don't have to share brilliantly, just share it.
David Spoon:Let the Lord take care of what it does.
David Spoon:That's one of the hardest things I struggle with.
David Spoon:So you can know, so you're not alone.
David Spoon:I'll share a message, I'll teach a message.
David Spoon:And for me it's like, wow, that was really good.
David Spoon:It really helped me.
David Spoon:It helped me to focus.
David Spoon:But I don't know how it will do with other people, how other people respond to it.
David Spoon:Here's what the Lord has been teaching me for 45 plus years.
David Spoon:That's not your business.
David Spoon:You do what I tell you to do.
David Spoon:Okey dokey.
David Spoon:Well, I want it to be nice, Lord.
David Spoon:Just share.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Yes, sir.
David Spoon:That's the whole premise of really doing real earnest ministry is really seeking just to share whatever the Lord wants and let the Lord take care of what's going to take place.
David Spoon:That's the key in that.
David Spoon:Additionally, maybe you've got prayer requests, you got stuff you want to, you know, you just need help getting through.
David Spoon:I was talking to one of my best friends, Rob today on the phone and we were committed to each other.
David Spoon:Listen to this.
David Spoon:To pray for one another.
David Spoon:Listen to this.
David Spoon:For each of us to get through the holiday without losing patience.
David Spoon:You think that's a joke?
David Spoon:That ain't no joke.
David Spoon:It's like, yes, I want to maintain my Christian character and my walk with the Lord and don't Want to lose it when the family starts losing it, if you get my drift on that.
David Spoon:So, you know, that's a prayer request.
David Spoon:I'm having people pray for me now.
David Spoon:I'll pray for you right now.
David Spoon:I think that's important.
David Spoon:In fact, we are going to finish this by praying for the churches, because that's really who's going to be.
David Spoon:It's the super bowl for the churches in many ways that this Christmas, every Christmas and every Easter is like the super bowl for churches.
David Spoon:So we're going to pray for churches.
David Spoon:Additionally, maybe you got something you want to share.
David Spoon:Maybe you got a scripture, something that's on your heart and mind that's really blessed you, or you're just trying to work through.
David Spoon:Great.
David Spoon:Share it.
David Spoon:We're not against politics, even to the effect that Jeanette sent me a nice little picture, a little meme, and I guess for the first time in the United States history and nativity scene with prayer and Christmas carols and scripture reading about the birth of Jesus was held at the US Capitol.
David Spoon:So that's a great sign, right?
David Spoon:Isn't that good?
David Spoon:That's kind of political in its own little way, but that's a good political, and that's the kind of political we want.
David Spoon:But if you've got something you want to share, share it.
David Spoon:Big key is to encourage one another and bless one another.
David Spoon:So let's take a moment first and pray not just for your church and my church and all the churches, but for all the churches.
David Spoon:That was a joke.
David Spoon:All the churches that are genuine.
David Spoon:We just want to pray that the Lord would help them and prepare them and strengthen them for what's up and coming.
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now and there are so many phenomenal groups that call upon your name, so many sincere, truly seeking you Christians in different places, in different denominations, in different leadership aspects.
David Spoon:And, Lord, this is a big time for outreach and a big time for people to reflect.
David Spoon:People that maybe normally don't connect to fellowship.
David Spoon:I'm just asking, Lord, that you would bring encouragement to the churches as they spend their energy trying to honor you, trying to serve other people, not one in particular, just everyone that truly names your name, Jesus that truly loves you.
David Spoon:We are asking you to bless them, to encourage them, to refresh them, to strengthen them, and that they might share the gospel and that you might pour the power of the gospel into people's lives who've never heard it, and that many people will say yes and amen.
David Spoon:Bless the church workers, everybody, even the unseen behind the panel kind of people.
David Spoon:Bless them for their efforts and their commitments and watch over your bride and keep the people of God, the ekklesia, safe, protected and unashamed.
David Spoon:We lift them up to you right now.
David Spoon:In Jesus name, we pray all of this and all of God's people should say amen and amen.
David Spoon:All right, folks, we're in the book of Revelation, and I'm going to do something I don't normally do, which is pretty typical for this show.
David Spoon:I'm going to backtrack on part of the text because I wanted to go over something that I thought was really important and I didn't spend enough time doing it last week.
David Spoon:For those that are thinking, but I've heard it, the answer is, that's okay.
David Spoon:It's okay that you heard it.
David Spoon:Get it.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:Remember, we're talking about the church at Smyrna.
David Spoon:We actually kind of finished, but I want to go back through it, picking it up at verse 10.
David Spoon:And this is something that Jesus said to the church, and I think it warrants a relook or a review.
David Spoon:And it says this in verse 10 of Revelation chapter 2, do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.
David Spoon:Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison that you may be tested.
David Spoon:And you will have tribulation 10 days.
David Spoon:Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
David Spoon:He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Why I want to key in on this is because I think a lot of people get a little freaked out.
David Spoon:And I want to challenge that.
David Spoon:I want to challenge that spirit of fear.
David Spoon:In 2nd Timothy 1:7, it says, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power.
David Spoon:Love.
David Spoon:And a sound mind in opposition to a spirit of fear is power from God.
David Spoon:It is love.
David Spoon:Biblical love from God.
David Spoon:It is sound mind.
David Spoon:Saz, friend.
David Spoon:Safe thinking from God.
David Spoon:And many of us need to operate in safe thinking.
David Spoon:Why is fear put in opposition to safe thinking or sound thinking?
David Spoon:And the reason is simple.
David Spoon:Fear.
David Spoon:Listen to what I'm going to say to you.
David Spoon:Fear is not safe thinking.
David Spoon:I'm not sure how to say that better.
David Spoon:I don't think I actually can.
David Spoon:That's why I'm relying on the Lord.
David Spoon:Fear when we are afraid.
David Spoon:And again, if you think about fear, I just want to point this out.
David Spoon:Fear actually has nothing to do with the past or even the present.
David Spoon:Did you know that Fear has to do with what is coming in the future?
David Spoon:Now it can be related to the past, but the past is gone.
David Spoon:Fear has to do with what?
David Spoon:If it's from something that's coming from the past, that's fine, but it's still yet coming from the past.
David Spoon:In other words, fear is what is about to.
David Spoon:And fear is not safe thinking.
David Spoon:It's dangerous thinking.
David Spoon:You think.
David Spoon:How can you say that?
David Spoon:Fear?
David Spoon:I mean, how can people operate without fear?
David Spoon:All right, I'll back up and I'll do this again, and then we'll go through it again.
David Spoon:2nd Timothy 1:7.
David Spoon:God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
David Spoon:The reason that you don't have to operate in fear is because God did not give us a spirit of fear.
David Spoon:And that, in fear, is torment.
David Spoon:And God is not looking to torment you.
David Spoon:If he wanted to trust Me, he could.
David Spoon:But he doesn't.
David Spoon:And in verse 10 of Revelation, Jesus says to Smyrna, this small church that's just hanging in there by a thread, do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.
David Spoon:There is no reason to be afraid.
David Spoon:When we first became Christians, Billy, Larry, Bruce and I, one of the things that we would say is, what's the.
David Spoon:And we did this to each other to encourage each other.
David Spoon:What's the worst thing that can happen?
David Spoon:That's what we would say.
David Spoon:And we would say this.
David Spoon:This is 45 years ago.
David Spoon:Well, we could become homeless and have no protection and no food, and then we could starve to death or be wounded or whatever, but then we would be with Jesus.
David Spoon:So actually the end result's not so bad.
David Spoon:We would actually say that to one another.
David Spoon:I mean, what is the worst?
David Spoon:And that's why Scripture says in Hebrews 13, 5, 6, I will not be afraid.
David Spoon:What can man do unto me?
David Spoon:Nothing of any eternal value whatsoever.
David Spoon:And we have no reason to be afraid for the things that Satan's gonna throw at us, for the things that we're going to encounter, for things that we do not understand.
David Spoon:There is no reason that we need to fear anything but a reverence before the Lord God Almighty and awe and appreciation, a respect for God.
David Spoon:That's the beginning of wisdom.
David Spoon:The other fear is torment.
David Spoon:And it's like, you don't have to do that.
David Spoon:And I want you to look and see where Jesus puts this category, because some of us are afraid.
David Spoon:Well, we won't have enough money, okay?
David Spoon:I don't think that compares to what the church at Smyrna was dealing with.
David Spoon:Do not fear any of those things which you're about to suffer.
David Spoon:Indeed.
David Spoon:The devil's about to throw some of you into prison.
David Spoon:I don't think you not being able to pay the bill is as bad as somebody getting tossed in prison because of their faith.
David Spoon:And Jesus says, don't be afraid of that.
David Spoon:If we're not supposed to be afraid of that, how can we be afraid of circumstances where we can't pay things or do things or, oh, my goodness, this might happen, or this might happen.
David Spoon:Are you getting tossed in jail for that?
David Spoon:Are they whipping you?
David Spoon:Are they beating you for that?
David Spoon:Because if not, then it doesn't quite come up to the same level.
David Spoon:That doesn't mean it's not irritating.
David Spoon:That doesn't mean it's not frustrating.
David Spoon:But we don't have to be in fear of torment.
David Spoon:And the devil is behind a lot of fear that takes place.
David Spoon:He's behind the building up of that fear.
David Spoon:And just think about what fear does.
David Spoon:We've talked about it multiple times.
David Spoon:Fear is an immobilizer.
David Spoon:It stops people from doing things.
David Spoon:It stops people from pleasing God.
David Spoon:It stops people from operating the kingdom of God when we're afraid.
David Spoon:When the gentleman, when they were giving out the talents and the one gentleman, he took his talent and he buried it because he was afraid.
David Spoon:Fear makes us bury things.
David Spoon:It's like, that's bad.
David Spoon:It makes you do nothing.
David Spoon:That's bad.
David Spoon:And that's all the enemy wants, is for you and I to be doing nothing.
David Spoon:And it goes as far as this.
David Spoon:And I love what Jesus says.
David Spoon:And this is why I went back to this.
David Spoon:Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.
David Spoon:He's like, suffering is coming for you guys.
David Spoon:Is it coming for everybody?
David Spoon:To some degree, sure.
David Spoon:Because through much tribulation, one must enter the kingdom of God.
David Spoon:So to a degree, sure.
David Spoon:Is it going to be the suffering that these guys are going through?
David Spoon:Probably not, but they were prepared.
David Spoon:And Jesus says, the devil is indeed about to throw some of you into prison.
David Spoon:Look at what he says, though, that you may be tested.
David Spoon:I just want you to understand.
David Spoon:I just finished my doctorate two years ago.
David Spoon:I just want to point this out.
David Spoon:I didn't like being tested, people.
David Spoon:I like tests.
David Spoon:Good for you.
David Spoon:I don't like tests, but there's a purpose to testing.
David Spoon:Abraham was tested and go all the way through it.
David Spoon:Adam and Eve were tested all the way through.
David Spoon:And so Satan's going to take some of them, he's going to throw them in prison.
David Spoon:And Jesus tells him it's for the purpose of testing.
David Spoon:Now When I take a test, there's a little bit of a nervousness that comes in it, depending, even if I have the full knowledge.
David Spoon:Like when I did my doctorate, my final thing on the doctorate, I was ready.
David Spoon:I had all the notes, I was prepared, I was ready to go.
David Spoon:But that doesn't mean I wasn't going.
David Spoon:Gulp, gulp, Right.
David Spoon:But when we're being tested in the Lord, God is not testing us so he can figure out how we're doing.
David Spoon:That's the thing that we miss.
David Spoon:And this has a lot to do with yesterday's message about understanding that everything God allows in our lives, it has a purpose, it has a plan.
David Spoon:And he wants us to know how passionate he is about us.
David Spoon:God tests us so that we can see how far we've come and that we need to keep going, not so he can see it.
David Spoon:He's omniscient.
David Spoon:He knows everything.
David Spoon:So what I want you and I to grasp, maybe to hang onto or just to seize, is that these testings that the Lord does for us, they all have a purpose.
David Spoon:They all have something structured to them.
David Spoon:There's a reason for them.
David Spoon:And you might say, well, my testing is so bad, I've lost family members, I've lost spouses, I've lost children.
David Spoon:I've lost all these things.
David Spoon:Every one of those things has happened in the Scripture.
David Spoon:Every one, Every single one.
David Spoon:Yet it is still the Lord that allows that testing.
David Spoon:And I do want to point out something because I think it is worthwhile, and that is simply this.
David Spoon:Satan is going to be used to test some of the people in Smyrna.
David Spoon:But let's not forget what the Bible says about Job.
David Spoon:Satan had to ask permission.
David Spoon:And let's not forget what the Bible says about Peter asking.
David Spoon:Jesus said, satan has asked to sift you like wheat.
David Spoon:He's got to get permission.
David Spoon:Therefore, whatever does happen and is allowed has a purpose, but it also has a limit.
David Spoon:And that's what's beautiful about the Lord.
David Spoon:He lets us be tested, but he has control.
David Spoon:In other words, it's not out of his hands.
David Spoon:And Job is such a great story because Satan thought he was really going to win that one.
David Spoon:I'm going to take him out.
David Spoon:I'm going to take his kids out.
David Spoon:I'm going to make him suffer in all of that.
David Spoon:The Bible says that Job did not sin.
David Spoon:Afterwards, when he went through chapter three, through the rest of it, through 32, he was whining, but he did not fail the test that was set before him.
David Spoon:And what I'm trying To make sure you understand is, look, there are challenging times and the enemy is behind it.
David Spoon:But none of that's happening where it's out of control.
David Spoon:Nothing is happening in your life where God is not aware of it.
David Spoon:He's not sitting in the background, back room going, I don't remember that.
David Spoon:That's never happening.
David Spoon:And so we don't have to be afraid if we have a genuine trust in the Lord.
David Spoon:He says, do not fear any of those things, any of them of which you're about to suffer.
David Spoon:Indeed, the devil's about to throw some of you in prison that you may be tested.
David Spoon:He says this, and you'll have tribulation.
David Spoon:10 days.
David Spoon:Be faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life.
David Spoon:So you might be thinking 10 days.
David Spoon:Why is that?
David Spoon:Because it's actually 10 days.
David Spoon:Very limited, very short amount of time.
David Spoon:But you have to understand that everything has a beginning and the end.
David Spoon:And our lives, the things the Lord allows them, has a beginning and an end and a purpose.
David Spoon:And maybe it's hard, maybe it's a tough season, maybe it's a tough day, week, month, year, decade.
David Spoon:So the Lord knows what he's doing and our trust for him has got to be demonstrated in our response to him.
David Spoon:And then Jesus says this, he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the church.
David Spoon:Every church gets that because the Holy Spirit speaks to the church still.
David Spoon:He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.
David Spoon:Hey, guess what?
David Spoon:There's two deaths.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:There's two deaths.
David Spoon:The first death is your old man, positionally.
David Spoon:The second death is your body.
David Spoon:If the Lord comes back and we're transformed, then that won't happen.
David Spoon:But for the generality of the population who are Bible believing, born again Christians, guess what?
David Spoon:There's two deaths again.
David Spoon:If the Lord blows the trumpet and calls people home, different.
David Spoon:But if not two deaths and he's telling him, hey, you know, that that second death won't mean anything, won't mean a thing.
David Spoon:The first death, that's the spirit death.
David Spoon:And then the rebirth that takes place.
David Spoon:Born again.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:That's why you're born again.
David Spoon:You're born again.
David Spoon:First from the inside.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:And this is the promise from the Lord.
David Spoon:I'm going to help you.
David Spoon:I'm going to be with you.
David Spoon:I'm not going to abandon you.
David Spoon:And you don't have to be afraid.
David Spoon:I want to go back to that point because that's the key that the Spirit of the Lord is focusing in on and that is simply this.
David Spoon:Some of us are allowing fear to have too much power in our lives.
David Spoon:We're giving it space.
David Spoon:Stop.
David Spoon:Dave, are you not afraid of anything?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:Ridiculous.
David Spoon:I have to ask God to help me on a regular basis.
David Spoon:Actually, again, in my daily prayer, I ask the Lord not to let me be afraid or anxious because I know how easy it is to do that, and you do, too.
David Spoon:But you gotta come against it.
David Spoon:We gotta fight against that.
David Spoon:And listen to what Jesus said.
David Spoon:Don't be afraid.
David Spoon:And if you're faithful all the way, Jesus said, I'm going to give you the crown of life.
David Spoon:You get to share in the crown of life with Jesus, and you'll never be hurt by the second death.
David Spoon:There is a reason why we can stand against fear.
David Spoon:There is a reason why we can take our position and not be moved.
David Spoon:And that's because God is with us and he loves us.
David Spoon:And he's going to do stuff through us and to us and for us and using us.
David Spoon:And that's what he wants to move into our hearts and minds.
David Spoon:Don't be afraid.
David Spoon:I'm doing this.
David Spoon:I gotcha, right?
David Spoon:You ever see those people when they're showing television shows and movies and the person's on the ledge and they're like, don't worry, I got you, right?
David Spoon:God, he's got you.
David Spoon:You're covered.
David Spoon:He's got you.
David Spoon:Nothing gonna happen that is gonna escape him.
David Spoon:He's got you frontwards and backwards.
David Spoon:He's got you covered from the north, the south, the east and the west, the up and the down, the left and the right.
David Spoon:And he does it because he loves you.
David Spoon:Don't be afraid.
David Spoon:And don't let that circumstance torment you inside.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:All right, folks, you're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
David Spoon:And what the whole teaching has to do with is the dissatisfaction that people have who are worldly when the divine is involved.
David Spoon:I want you to hear that line.
David Spoon:That's the big line.
David Spoon:That's the big connector between all of this.
David Spoon:The worldly are never satisfied if divinity is involved.
David Spoon:So the example Jesus says is, you know, we played the flute for you, right?
David Spoon:And the flute, you know, woo the flute.
David Spoon:Yay.
David Spoon:Happy sounds, right?
David Spoon:And the people are like, no.
David Spoon:It's like, okay, well, we sang a dirge for you, right?
David Spoon:What do you sing at a funeral, right?
David Spoon:And the people were like, no.
David Spoon:And then John the Baptist, he says, comes.
David Spoon:And John the Baptist is as straight as you can get.
David Spoon:We would call him, you know, a massive teetotaler, might be fair enough to say.
David Spoon:And he says, he's not eating bread.
David Spoon:He's not drinking any wine.
David Spoon:And you people, the way you respond, you go, he's got a demon.
David Spoon:And then Jesus, he says, I come, Son of man comes.
David Spoon:I'm eating and drinking.
David Spoon:And then what do the people do?
David Spoon:They extreme it out.
David Spoon:And they say, he's a glutton because he's eating.
David Spoon:Not eating more than he should.
David Spoon:He's just eating.
David Spoon:And he's a drunkard because he had wine.
David Spoon:You see, this is the thing.
David Spoon:The thing is that the world and the worldly are never satisfied.
David Spoon:That's why I said that connection to the song.
David Spoon:And don't get mad at me that I used a rolling stone.
David Spoon:So it's not my fault.
David Spoon:They wrote a song called I Can't get no Satisfaction.
David Spoon:This is the Lord trying to reach people at different levels.
David Spoon:And people keep going, no, no, no, no.
David Spoon:And it's nonstop, and there's just no satisfying them.
David Spoon:And even the one thing that I would say, and I've said this before in the beginning of this broadcast, and I don't really care about your political affiliations, but when people get going in a certain direction, you can't move them one way or another.
David Spoon:And when the media was all over Donald Trump, it's fair to say that had he helped cure cancer with research, they would have accused Donald Trump of putting people out of business who were in the cancer business.
David Spoon:It's just like that's exactly what they would have done.
David Spoon:Everybody knows that.
David Spoon:And it's because that's how the mentality is.
David Spoon:If somebody comes along and does something that's good and it's not appreciative to the world, or they don't like it, they will rip it to shreds.
David Spoon:You can't play the flute.
David Spoon:You can't sing a dirge.
David Spoon:You can't be Johnny the Baptist, and you can't be Jesus Christ, because none of those things satisfy.
David Spoon:We want exactly what we want.
David Spoon:Which, by the way, they don't even know what they want.
David Spoon:That's the irony.
David Spoon:It's God that's giving the opportunity for people to get the answers.
David Spoon:And people are so inwardly confused because of Satan, they wouldn't know a good thing if it sp split them in the eyeballs.
David Spoon:That's the problem.
David Spoon:The David Spoon experience.
