The David Spoon Experience 11-13-23 part 1
A) When Paul converses with Titus, he discusses various social connections. He begins with the older women, giving them several instructions, not the least of which is to teach the younger women to avoid excessive commitment to wine. This is because wine and teaching can often lead to a very long evening.
B) Contrary to the practices of several denominations, Paul makes it clear that older women should not be forbidden from conducting Bible studies with younger women. In fact, older women are encouraged to teach younger women to be respectful, love their husbands, and take care of their homes so that the word of God would not be blasphemed.
C) If older women do not teach the younger ones, then who does? Paul extends his exhortations to young men as well. He reminds them that excessive alcohol consumption in church situations may not be a good idea. He advises young men to demonstrate a pattern of good works, respect, and sound speech.
D) Paul instructs bondservants to be obedient to their masters, pleasing in everything they do, and not to talk back disrespectfully. Instead, they should show a good attitude in all their actions so that they can demonstrate the grace and goodness of God through their behavior. This advice is particularly relevant in employee relationships. It’s important to understand that there is a spirit of humility between individuals. If we fail to recognize that our humility is a badge of honor, we risk losing our connection to faith altogether.
