The Tower of Babel: Lessons on Human Ambition and Divine Intervention
The podcast delves into the story of the Tower of Babel from Genesis, emphasizing the powerful principle of unity among people, even when their intentions are misguided. Dr. David Spoon highlights how the people sought to construct a monument to their own greatness, which ultimately led to their scattering by God. He discusses the importance of understanding that while unity can lead to great achievements, it must align with God’s purpose to be truly beneficial. Throughout the episode, Dr. Spoon encourages listeners to reflect on their own lives and the significance of being united in faith, suggesting that true unity in the kingdom of God is unstoppable. The episode blends scriptural insights with personal anecdotes, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth among the audience.
Takeaways:
- Unity among people is powerful, but it can also be used for evil purposes.
- The story of the Tower of Babel illustrates the dangers of self-glorification and ambition.
- Chronological order in the Book of Genesis may not always be as straightforward as it seems.
- To achieve true unity, we must focus on the essentials of our faith.
- The power of unity within the kingdom of God is unstoppable and essential for believers.
- When we seek our own greatness, we risk alienating ourselves from God’s true purpose.
Reflecting on the story of the Tower of Babel, David Spoon underscores the significance of unity and its potential for both good and ill within the church and society at large. He discusses how the biblical narrative illustrates a time when humanity shared a common language and purpose, leading to ambitious construction projects aimed at achieving greatness apart from God. Through this lens, David articulates a sobering reminder that while unity can empower communities to accomplish great things, it must be aligned with divine will to avoid falling into pride and self-worship. He challenges listeners to consider their own definitions of success and greatness, prompting an introspective dialogue about how faith informs their ambitions and relationships. As the conversation unfolds, David weaves in personal anecdotes and scriptural references, creating a compelling narrative that encourages believers to pursue a unity that uplifts and glorifies God, rather than one that seeks personal exaltation, thus making the episode not only informative but also transformative.

And now for something completely different.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's experience.
David Spoon:It's marvelous, monumental, most fascinating, massively mind bending Monday as we join our hearts and minds as one, drawing closer to the king of kings and glorifying his name first.
David Spoon:Howdy, little campers.
David Spoon:It's time to dive back into Genesis.
David Spoon:We're going to be picking it up at chapter 11, verse 1.
David Spoon:Now, most people know what takes place in this story, but they might not be fully engaged with the reality that Genesis for certain is not always in chronological order, even though many people think that way.
David Spoon:It's worth noting that the first book of the Bible, Genesis, in the first two chapters demonstrate that the Bible is not always chronological.
David Spoon:Verse 21 or chapter 1, verse 27 talks about Adam and Eve being born, but chapter 2, verse 22 talks about Eve after that.
David Spoon:So I just want you to catch that.
David Spoon:It's like the Lord shows you chapter one, but then in chapter two, he goes back in time.
David Spoon:That's what I want you to understand next.
David Spoon:Verse 3 in this is going to make it clear that the people there wanted to create monuments which are construction projects that would helped them solidify themselves as the great people of planet Earth.
David Spoon:They took burnt brick and natural asphalt which was tar, and they used it as mortar.
David Spoon:And they wanted to be known as the builders who constructed something to the heavens as a monument to their own greatness.
David Spoon:Finally, it's critical to understand that in this text, they say, this will bring us together and keep us from scattering all over the world.
David Spoon:The idea was to have a common vision, a common goal and a common approach that would create such unity they could never be separated.
David Spoon:The power of unity is undisputed.
David Spoon:It's indisputable.
David Spoon:Sorry.
David Spoon:The power of unity is indisputable.
David Spoon:But the problem arises when unity is used for evil.
David Spoon:Ooh, unity is powerful.
David Spoon:But unity in the kingdom of God is unstoppable.
Narrator:David Spoon's life has been an experience.

Narrator:You're about to hear the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.
David Spoon:Lessons for surviving living and prevailing politics, Entertainment and current events, Personal revelations Spiritual observations, my life's insanities, and oy, they.
David Spoon:So much more.
David Spoon:How much more?
David Spoon:A lot.
David Spoon:Okay, now remember, it's not professional radio.
David Spoon:And to verify that it is not professional radio, we will ask our very own Jam and Jacob, the optimist, prime of professional radio.
David Spoon:Whether it's professional radar or not, Optimus Prime Jammin Jacob, is the David Spoon Experience professional radio?
Jacob:No, it is not.
Jacob:David.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:From one Transformer to another.
David Spoon:You heard it.
Jacob:Autobots, roll out.
Jacob:There you go.
Jacob:There's Optimus Prime.
David Spoon:There's Optimus Prime.
David Spoon:Bottom line is, it's just radio.
David Spoon:You're thinking, it's fine.
David Spoon:It's fellowship through radio.
David Spoon:Remember, we're going to get into Colossians, and Colossians are going to show you that Paul has fellowship with other people even though he doesn't see them face to face.
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:That's what it teaches.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because that's what the word of God teaches.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:And we're going to get into that, but that's not until Thursday.
David Spoon:Bottom line to the process is me.
David Spoon:I got to stop saying bottom line.
David Spoon:But we do want you to be aware there are ways to get in touch with us.
David Spoon:Yes, there are.
David Spoon:And you might be thinking, well, how do I get in touch with you?
David Spoon:You can walk out your front door right now and go, hey, Abbot, that won't help you because my name's not Abbott.
David Spoon:And even if you said my right name, it wouldn't help you anyway.
David Spoon:You can send an email.
David Spoon:David must increase dot org.
David Spoon:See, some of you should have got that joke.
David Spoon:David must increase dot org.
David Spoon:You can also text us.
David Spoon:Not Texas, text us.
David Spoon:We're in Texas, but text us.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or.
David Spoon:Or.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:Praise the Lord.
David Spoon:The phones work.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Talking to Jim and Jacob is like knowing that your spiritual radio family has your back.
David Spoon:Oh, so nice.
Jacob:Thank you, David.
Jacob:Happy Monday.
David Spoon:Happy Monday, Funday.
David Spoon:Not a lot for you to.
David Spoon:In that last segment, huh?
Jacob:No, but I am back to working the phones.
Jacob:The phone works again.
Jacob:So we're somewhat back to normal, right?
David Spoon:Yeah, well, for us, I'm not sure what normal is.
Jacob:Right, Exactly.
Jacob:Somewhat normal.
David Spoon:So wherever the normal realm for us is, which seems to Be pretty broad in its own approach now.
David Spoon:But it's glad to have you back.
David Spoon:Glad that you were able to help me earlier today.
David Spoon:We're still working out a few little things, but we're probably are not going to have our normal Jake's take today because I'll be just gloating.
David Spoon:But we might or might not.
David Spoon:I haven't yet decided on that.
David Spoon:We will be praying for people, so if you've got prayer, we'll probably do that in the next segment.
David Spoon:But I want you to be aware of something real quickly, okay?
David Spoon:One, we could really use some help financially.
David Spoon:And I'm only saying this multiple times because we're hurting.
David Spoon:We don't make a lot.
David Spoon:For those that don't know there ain't a lot coming.
David Spoon:We have about 3,000 in bills that we have to pay just to do the show and then whatever's left over.
David Spoon:The majority of that tends to be my less than.
David Spoon:What's the word I want to use?
David Spoon:My less than minimum wage salary.
David Spoon:I don't actually have a salary.
David Spoon:It's just whatever we can pull out of there.
David Spoon:And the bottom line of that is that's just part of the process.
David Spoon:That's what we do.
David Spoon:We've been doing it for five and a half years and we'll do it if the Lord grants us, we'll do it for another 15 years and then I can fulfill the first time I ever went on radio and say simply, 25 years of radio coming up.
David Spoon:That was the first thing I ever said on radio.
David Spoon:So we're 10 years deep, 15 years to go.
David Spoon:How about that?
David Spoon:Isn't that cool?
David Spoon:And by the way, tomorrow is our anniversary for moving to Texas.
David Spoon:It'll be seven years as of tomorrow, so we're getting a little bit more grounded here.
David Spoon:That's all good stuff.
David Spoon:But the bottom line to everything is I keep saying bottom line and I'm sick of doing that.
David Spoon:What I do want you to be aware of is, okay, did we do a jam and Jacob yet?
David Spoon:Yeah, we did that, right?
David Spoon:Did we do our jam and Jacob for you?
David Spoon:We did do that.
David Spoon:I got a lot going on, folks.
David Spoon:Here's the thing I want you to be aware of.
David Spoon:You can text us, you can email us, you can call us.
David Spoon:Praise the Lord.
David Spoon:It can be for prayer requests, it can be for praise reports, it can be for sharing a scripture.
David Spoon:Just keep in mind, and we're not against politics.
David Spoon:Don't go down that road.
David Spoon:But we don't do a lot of it.
David Spoon:I did put something up on the website that none of you have seen yet.
David Spoon:And it is a little bit of political.
David Spoon:And then next to that's the Babylon Bee thing.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:So you can check that on the website for those that haven't seen it.
David Spoon:But in the meantime, we also do trivia, Bible trivia.
David Spoon:Let's see if you guys can get this one out of Matthew 2:13.
David Spoon:This is your reference point.
David Spoon:Matthew 2:13, unless you know it.
David Spoon:Who?
David Spoon:What authority figure?
David Spoon:Who tried to kill Jesus shortly after he was born?
David Spoon:Who tried to kill Jesus shortly after he was born?
David Spoon:Matthew 2:13.
David Spoon:Matthew chapter 2, verse 13.
David Spoon:Who tried to kill Jesus shortly after he was born?
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email, which is right in front of me.
David Spoon:And it's working.
David Spoon:David must increase.org that's David.
David Spoon:He must increase.org Very straightforward trivia question.
David Spoon:Matthew 2:13.
David Spoon:We're getting closer to Christmas.
David Spoon:I assume you guys have been reading this.
David Spoon:Who tried to kill Jesus very shortly after he was born?
David Spoon:Matthew chapter 2, verse 13.
David Spoon:If you think you know, you can reach out to us.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:David crease.org Joyenne and Cordelia got the pow pow on that one.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:We're going to do our DNA now again, if somebody calls in, you got to tell me Jim, because I can't see.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:All right, so just give me that whatever hand.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Ready for a DNA.
David Spoon:You're ready.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:D stands for draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:I just don't know how to say this any different.
David Spoon:So my favorite saying and whenever we talk about these things is this.
David Spoon:Every day that you breathe, spend some time with the Lord.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Whatever day you don't breathe, it'll be a moot point.
David Spoon:You'll either be closely connected or in a really bad place.
David Spoon:What I'm trying to say is every day, spend time with the Lord.
David Spoon:Every day that ends in why.
David Spoon:Let's see, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Every day, spend some time with the Lord.
David Spoon:And I'm not telling you how long.
David Spoon:And I understand people are like, well, do it for this or do it for this.
David Spoon:I don't care.
David Spoon:It doesn't matter.
David Spoon:Just get separated time from the Lord.
David Spoon:It will make your life better and you will make life better for the people around you.
David Spoon:As you begin to become more and more like Jesus.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:N of our DNA.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:And the reason is simply this.
David Spoon:If you're ashamed of Jesus and his words, he will be ashamed of you when he comes in from the Father's glory with his holy angels.
David Spoon:Bad plan, right?
David Spoon:Bad, bad, bad, bad.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed.
David Spoon:Remember, God created the universe.
David Spoon:The dude can write a book.
David Spoon:Thank you.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:And a Always be ready.
Jacob:To serve.
David Spoon:Ready to serve.
David Spoon:Does that mean you'll be used every three seconds?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:Does that mean you gotta put a sandwich board sign around you and walk around?
David Spoon:Repent for the end?
David Spoon:Is there?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:It doesn't mean any of that.
David Spoon:It means that we are mindful of God, that other people's interests.
David Spoon:Philippians chapter 2.
David Spoon:Other people's interests are important to us.
David Spoon:Did you get that?
David Spoon:I just said the most clear way you can possibly get.
David Spoon:I love those translations that do that.
David Spoon:Other people's interests have an importance to us.
David Spoon:That's being ready to serve.
David Spoon:And if the Lord wants to use you, then you are available.
David Spoon:Don't be so caught up in the things you're doing that you're not listening for the Lord of the work.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the daily.
David Spoon:And never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready.
David Spoon:All right, we do have somebody ready to answer a trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Shel:Hey, it's Shel.
David Spoon:Hey, Shel.
David Spoon:How are you doing?
Shel:Very good, my friend.
Shel:Thank you.
David Spoon:It's great to hear your voice.
David Spoon:Great, great, great to hear your voice.
David Spoon:And I like it when you call in.
David Spoon:So I'll set you up and then you can take it from there.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:Who tried to kill Jesus right after he was born?
David Spoon:According to Matthew 2:13, who tried to do that?
Shel:That would be Herod.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Dominguez.
David Spoon:That was Herod.
David Spoon:He was like, oh, boy, this ain't good.
David Spoon:And then he started to kind of try and wipe out the kids.
David Spoon:We'll probably get into that a little bit as we get into December.
David Spoon:How people really understand why he wiped out everybody from 2 years old and younger.
David Spoon:Because it wasn't right after Jesus Was born in the sense of the second he was born.
David Spoon:But when he had taught to the kings, the Magi, that's what got the whole thing rolling.
David Spoon:So that makes a big, big, big difference, right?
David Spoon:I mean, it's huge.
David Spoon:So how are you?
David Spoon:How are you?
Shel:He's a very nice man.
David Spoon:Yeah, right.
David Spoon:Exactly.
Shel:Say the least.
David Spoon:That's an understatement.
David Spoon:That's very well put, by the way.
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:Not a great dude, not a nice guy.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:How are you doing, brother?
Shel:I am doing okay.
Shel:Struggling with a little bit of anxiety as of late, even though I keep telling myself that God's got it under control.
Shel:And he always finds a way to tell me that he does.
Shel:And I seem to always find myself back in that rut.
David Spoon:I understand fully.
Shel:Like, really, Shell.
Shel:So, yeah, that's me in a nutshell.
Shel:Play on words.
David Spoon:Let me pray over you.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Because not only do I understand it, I don't sympathize.
David Spoon:I empathize.
David Spoon:There's a big difference.
David Spoon:Let's pray over it.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:We lift up our brother Shel.
David Spoon:We love Shel, Lord.
David Spoon:Great man.
David Spoon:He's made such great strides in things that are going on.
David Spoon:But, Lord, anxiety is meant and it's frustrating because we don't want to fall into it.
David Spoon:And it's so connected to our feelings and so then connected to our minds.
David Spoon:And, Lord, I am asking you to give him just this great strength to seize.
David Spoon:To seize the faith, to seize the confidence.
David Spoon:Lord Jesus, when you were on the water, you told Peter to take courage.
David Spoon:You said, it is I.
David Spoon:That is why he could take courage.
David Spoon:Because you are there.
David Spoon:Lord, let shall know.
David Spoon:He knows it deep in.
David Spoon:But let him know it in the face of his circumstance.
David Spoon:You are there.
David Spoon:It is I.
David Spoon:And that gives him the ability to not have to resist, of taking courage against the anxiety because you're with him, you love him, you're committed to him, and you're walking with him.
David Spoon:And you will never forsake him or abandon him.
David Spoon:Bless him in his situation.
David Spoon:Give him great comfort and joy from it.
David Spoon:In Jesus name, amen and amen.
Shel:Amen.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:My brother.
Shel:Oh, brother.
Shel:Happy early birthday.
Shel:I'm with you on that one.
Shel:Two weeks away from both of us.
Shel:Week for you, week for me.
David Spoon:Yeah, it's closing in.
David Spoon:I'm at that December 3rd line.
David Spoon:So.
David Spoon:So it's getting closer.
David Spoon:So that's right.
David Spoon:You're a little older than me, aren't you?
Shel:I'm.
Shel:I think I'm a week older than you.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Well, out of respect for my elders, I'll just say this for your birthday.
David Spoon:You're not old for a tree.
David Spoon:Anyway, just wanted to say that to you, brother.
Shel:I'll go on that.
David Spoon:How about that?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:God bless, brother.
Shel:God bless you, brother.
David Spoon:All right, take care.
Shel:Bye bye.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So that's part of what we do now.
David Spoon:When we get back, by the way, we're going to jump into Genesis and this is going to be a little challenging for some people.
David Spoon:Now, again, this is not an issue of fellowship.
David Spoon:I'm going to give you a couple of different points of view on something that has to do with Genesis 11.
David Spoon:1.
David Spoon:But it's fascinating to hear what other Christians think and how they process.
David Spoon:There's nothing wrong or bad or evil about that.
David Spoon:We'll take our break though, and then we'll come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break, we'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Unknown Speaker:You may be from a Baptist background, a Pentecostal background, a non denominational background.
Unknown Speaker:David Spoon has that too.
Unknown Speaker:You may be from the Church of Christ, Presbyterian Methodist Church of God or some other denomination, but if you're looking for a show that's Bible based, spirit led and a bit nutty, then give David a listen for a while.
Unknown Speaker:If you like it, great.
Unknown Speaker:If not, no worries.
Unknown Speaker:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:I'm just telling you the truth.
David Spoon:I'm just being honest, right?
David Spoon:Because I'll pull from.
David Spoon:I'm Jewish, I was trained well, and you pull from multiple directions.
David Spoon:This was one of those things.
David Spoon:So I kind of needed to recognize that sometimes I'm obnoxious and I need to make up for it.
David Spoon:And the whole point of me telling you this is sometimes you will do things that doesn't necessarily mean you're wrong.
David Spoon:But because you didn't have the right spirit going on when it happened, you need to make up for it.
David Spoon:Now.
David Spoon:By that I mean this.
David Spoon:So Noelle found out yesterday that she had to get up at 4:30 this morning because the president of quote, unquote, the company was coming in because they were doing a remodel and her section was one of the sections there being remodeled.
David Spoon:So she had to be at work at 6 in order to be there.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So now I'm already, I'm not in the doghouse or anything.
David Spoon:I just, you know, feeling like I could have done better.
David Spoon:So you know what I did.
David Spoon:And I'm telling you this for a reason.
David Spoon:I got up at 5 in the morning and I sat with her for about a half hour while she was getting ready.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:And I encouraged her because I knew she was really tired.
David Spoon:And then she went to work and I went back to bed for at least an hour and a half until the dog said, that's enough out of you.
David Spoon:Get up.
David Spoon:You know, that was a whole separate thing.
David Spoon:The reason that I bring it up is not because I did something brilliant.
David Spoon:That's exactly not the case.
David Spoon:In fact, the reason that I had to make it up is because I didn't do something brilliant.
David Spoon:But it dawned on me that it is okay or not okay, but it's probably right for you and I when we're in relationships and we do something that's a little far off or maybe not as authentically Krishna as we generally need to be, that we're allowed to make up for it.
David Spoon:And so what I was trying to do was communicate with her.
David Spoon:I love you.
David Spoon:I'm kind of sorry.
David Spoon:Okay, I'm sorry.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:I'm totally sorry.
David Spoon:Because I'm up at 5am that I wasn't like nicer about the whole thing.
David Spoon:And so whatever happened by getting up at five in the morning last night went, bye, bye.
David Spoon:And my point in making that, sharing that with you is simply sometimes we can do things that is a way to say I'm with you without doing a whole bunch.
David Spoon:And that will just make some of the dumber things less painful or less dark.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's Kaaman 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Texas.
David Spoon:Here we go, Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, here we go.
David Spoon:In fact, we're going to do another trivia question.
David Spoon:You guys should be able to get this one.
David Spoon:I'm very confident that people will be able to get this one.
David Spoon:Your reference point, I'm giving you a chance to jump to it early.
David Spoon:John, chapter 20, verse 11.
David Spoon:John, chapter 20, verse11.
David Spoon:Who thought Jesus was a gardener when she saw him after he had risen.
David Spoon:Who thought Jesus was a gardener when she saw him after he had resurrected after he had risen.
David Spoon:Who was that?
David Spoon: John,: David Spoon:And if you think you know.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Must increase.org we got all that stuff going on.
David Spoon:Isn't that exciting?
David Spoon:Okay, cool.
David Spoon:All right, so we did do our DNA.
David Spoon:We do have somebody on the phone, so.
David Spoon:So I'm going to take one second before we get to that person on the phone.
David Spoon:See, what happened is the only thing we don't have going on the phone is my little light doesn't show.
David Spoon:So we can have Jennifer look at that or somebody.
David Spoon:Maybe the gentleman can look at that.
David Spoon:But what's our guy's name, that tech guy's name?
David Spoon:He's a nice guy.
David Spoon:What's his name?
Jacob:Brian.
David Spoon:Brian.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:Maybe we could have Brian look at that.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Blessings, Brian.
David Spoon:Thank you for helping us, by the way.
David Spoon:Okay, before I get to that, I do want to point out just a couple things.
David Spoon:We have some different books that are coming up, and as we get into the holiday season, there could be some modified schedules.
David Spoon:Please be aware of that because I know we got Thanksgiving coming and different things like that.
David Spoon:The last thing I want to do is ask you guys to be praying for my wife.
David Spoon:For those that do not know, she is officially an international certified florist designer.
David Spoon:So she did not only pass her one test, she passed her everything test.
David Spoon:So she's good there.
David Spoon:And she is working really hard at bringing a new store up.
David Spoon:And she's going to have to be manager.
David Spoon:And managers can be, you know, have moments.
David Spoon:So I need to be a supportive husband and she needs to be a patient manager.
David Spoon:Pray for my wife.
David Spoon:That's all I'm telling you.
David Spoon:Okay, we do have somebody ready to answer trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Samson:This is the little guy.
David Spoon:It's the little guy.
David Spoon:What do you mean, the little guy?
David Spoon:What are you doing, brother?
David Spoon:Are you doing all right?
Samson:Yeah, I mean, it's kind of little.
David Spoon:Okay, well, you know, like in.
Samson:My cousin passed away over the weekend.
Samson:She was as.
Samson:Yeah.
Samson:Very similar to my little sister's age that passed away like, it's two months ago.
Samson:So, like, it.
Samson:It's kind of litter.
David Spoon:That's not great.
David Spoon:How are you doing?
Samson:I mean, I'm.
Samson:I'm mad and angry.
David Spoon:You know that.
David Spoon:That's not.
David Spoon:That's.
David Spoon:That just shows you.
David Spoon:Something really interesting in scripture is David was both afraid and angry at the Lord at the same time.
David Spoon:So that's not an unusual place for people to be.
David Spoon:But that, you know, that.
David Spoon:And again, we like, well, why did this happen?
David Spoon:And all of those things?
David Spoon:Everything to everything.
David Spoon:We Absolve and process.
David Spoon:Everything has a purpose.
David Spoon:Way past us.
David Spoon:Way past us.
David Spoon:And I know it's hard to think that way.
David Spoon:I've had many things.
David Spoon:I've had super big.
David Spoon:I won't even get into some of the levels of disappointment, but everything has a weave of the hand of God.
David Spoon:If you're a Christian.
David Spoon:Everything.
Samson:Yeah.
Samson:I mean, it's kind of really disturbing.
Samson:Like, in that three months, losing three family members, that you grew up with them, you know.
David Spoon:No, that's a lot.
David Spoon:So we're going to definitely pray over you and pray for fortification and for protection as well.
David Spoon:Let's do the trivia question and then we'll get to that.
David Spoon:Are you ready for that?
Samson:Yes.
David Spoon:Okay, here we go.
David Spoon:Who thought Jesus was running a landscaping business and who thought he was a gardener when she saw him after he had resurrected Mary Magdalene?
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Amanda said, that's right, Jesus.
David Spoon:Apparently, for some reason she thought, you know, he had his own landscaping business.
David Spoon:Anyway, I'll just leave that there.
David Spoon:It's kind of like.
David Spoon:Okay, let me pray over you, though.
David Spoon:I want to pray for protection as well as fortification.
David Spoon:Is that cool?
Samson:Yeah.
Samson:And also pray for me, like, I'm just feeling a little under the weather, like having a little sketchy throat kind of thing.
David Spoon:I'm going to lump in there somebody else as well.
David Spoon:I'm going to pray for Nancy's daughter Jill, and her dad, Nancy's dad, who needs a prayer.
David Spoon:So let's just do.
David Spoon:Let's bring it before the Lord.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now, and I thank you for my brother Samson.
David Spoon:And Lord, he's got things.
David Spoon:People are passing away around his presence, around people he's connected to.
David Spoon:He's lost a lot of family in a very short period of time.
David Spoon:And the grief is real and the frustration is real.
David Spoon:And there's also probably a sense of concern for his own life.
David Spoon:And, Lord, we are asking you first and foremost to put a hedge of protection around Samson that the enemy cannot access, cannot get into, cannot creep in there and develop fears or resentments or hatreds or bitterness.
David Spoon:But that there would be.
David Spoon:Instead of that, Lord, there could be the healing balm that comes from you that would touch his heart.
David Spoon:He's not going to probably find out on this side why, unless you tell him.
David Spoon:But he does have a great, powerful trust in you, and he's using that trust.
David Spoon:He believes, lord, help his unbelief, Help him where he's struggling.
David Spoon:Be his comfort in that and protect him.
David Spoon:Put a hedge about him.
David Spoon:Let him Be safe.
David Spoon:Let him be very focused.
David Spoon:Knowing that the enemy's continually trying to attack, the darkness is continually trying to present itself.
David Spoon:I ask you to bless my brother.
David Spoon:He needs help.
David Spoon:He needs encouragement.
David Spoon:He needs to be, Lord, touched by your spirit, Lord.
David Spoon:We also pray for Nancy's daughter Jill, that she could find, you find true salvation, and for Nancy's dad that he could find a healing, a redemptive element for he's not doing as well as he needs to be.
David Spoon:And, Lord, these are our brothers and sisters.
David Spoon:This is our family, and we carry their burdens with them, and we ask you to encourage them and give my brother a blessing that comes directly from you.
David Spoon:Confirm your love to him through your word, through prayer, and through other things.
David Spoon:We just ask you to bless him.
David Spoon:Watch over Nancy, her daughter, as well as her dad.
David Spoon:We pray all this in the name of Jesus.
David Spoon:Amen and amen.
Samson:Amen.
Samson:Can I ask you, like, a theological question?
David Spoon:You can.
David Spoon:It doesn't mean I'll have a theological answer, but you can certainly ask me.
Samson:Oh, okay.
Samson:Well, I know my cousin, she knew the Lord, but later in her life, she wasn't very active.
Samson:And I know when she was in an ICU on a ventilator, I prayed and my family prayed her reunion with Christ and all those things.
Samson:But then.
Samson:Then she passed away.
Samson:So I don't know.
Samson:I mean, I believe, like, a lot to restore her eternity.
Samson:So what's your intake on that kind of, well, situation?
David Spoon:Was she a genuine believer?
David Spoon:I mean, was it genuine?
Samson:I believe when she believed Jesus when she was younger, like, we all accepted because my dad was the pastor for us.
David Spoon:So it's not.
Samson:I can't say with certainty, like, but in younger years, like, we were.
Samson:Yes.
Samson:Dedicated to the Lord.
David Spoon:Well, that.
David Spoon:That's the part right there.
David Spoon:If there's.
David Spoon:And there's nothing wrong with believing that she's going to be there.
David Spoon:I mean, I'm just going to point out to you the ultimate answer is obviously only in the hand of the Lord and in praying for her.
David Spoon:I mean, that was the right thing to do and you did what you needed to do.
David Spoon:But I think there's a sense where the Lord gives people comfort.
David Spoon:I also think at the exact same time, the enemy tries to increase the fear and make it about division and then trying to kind of blame God in the process.
David Spoon:And so what you got to be careful of is thinking that God didn't know whether, you know, God knew exactly where her heart was at and knew exactly what she needed.
David Spoon:And my.
David Spoon:I would run because she had a faith.
David Spoon:I would run with the assumption she will be there.
David Spoon:That's what I would do.
David Spoon:That's not telling you that.
David Spoon:That she's going to be there.
David Spoon:I'm not telling you.
David Spoon:And nobody can actually make that comment.
David Spoon:But if she was a genuine believer even earlier on, it's a very likely process that, especially theologically, that she remained.
David Spoon:Is it good that she was turning away or falling back?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:But the Lord is very merciful, and his blood, the blood of Jesus, didn't cover her sins up to a point.
David Spoon:The blood of Jesus covers the sins for believers, period.
David Spoon:So it's not up to a point.
David Spoon:So never think of it as, well, they're saved up to this date.
David Spoon:That's not how that works.
David Spoon:Yeah, that's what I would say.
Samson:Oh, yeah.
Samson:Because.
Samson:Because I'm on the other side of the spectrum.
Samson:Like a.
Samson:I believe a person could lose their salvation.
David Spoon:I understand.
David Spoon:I understand.
David Spoon:And how I look at it is I see it as both ways.
David Spoon:I think that people that are genuinely saved will not be lost.
David Spoon:I think people that rebel and go the other direction, I think it's a substantial.
David Spoon:I mean, Peter denied Jesus three times, and he certainly believed in Jesus, but that didn't stop anything.
David Spoon:Jesus not only restored him, but he was responsible, helping establish the church.
David Spoon:There's a lot of grace and mercy, even for people that do go through a process of denial.
David Spoon:So it doesn't just eradicate the fact that he had spent three years with them.
David Spoon:That's just a reality.
David Spoon:So it just depends on what side you take of the argument.
David Spoon:And I understand both sides really well.
David Spoon:I do think it's going to really break down to individual, but you can't do much about that.
David Spoon:I would go in comfort, but that's my.
David Spoon:Just my take.
Samson:Thank you, Dr.
Samson:David.
David Spoon:God bless you, brother.
David Spoon:You know I love you.
Samson:I love you, too.
David Spoon:All right, touch you there.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:Okay, we're just going to go into the teaching.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:I'm going to go into the teaching because I know people are like, no, going into the teaching because I want to get into this.
David Spoon:I want to get into this Tower of Babel thing.
David Spoon:And the reason that I do is because I have to lay this groundwork before we can get into the fun stuff.
David Spoon:So the reason that I say that to you is because we're going to get into it, but you need to understand where we're heading.
David Spoon:So here we are at Genesis, chapter 11, verse one and verse one, and I'm going to read three different points.
David Spoon:Did you hear what I said?
David Spoon:It's really important.
David Spoon:Three different points.
David Spoon:It says this in Genesis 11:1, at one time the whole world spoke a single language and used the same words.
David Spoon:So there's been a ton of research done on this because in chapter 10 in verse 25, it makes reference to Peleg, who was the beginning of great divisions.
David Spoon:So many people think, okay, well, Genesis 11:1 took place prior to Peleg.
David Spoon:Okay, so I'm going to read.
David Spoon:This is not my writings.
David Spoon:There are other people, but I'm going to read them to you and you can just decide what you think is interesting or not.
David Spoon:That's up to you.
David Spoon:The opening description of the whole Earth as one language indicates that the present episode is not necessarily placed chronologically after the events narrated in chapter 10.
David Spoon:It specifically mentions nations and languages.
David Spoon:This incident, however, may have occurred during a broader period, especially if it's linked to naming peleg.
David Spoon:In chapter 10, verse 25, somebody else wrote, and this is going to be Dr.
David Spoon:Myers and Dr.
David Spoon:Brown.
David Spoon:This refers to the ancient near east in the Mediterranean.
David Spoon:Since chapter 11 in its dispersion of the nations, is linked to the table of nations, which is specific to people groups of the ancient East.
David Spoon:This phrase should not be understood to refer to the entire absolute world, but to specifically what's going on in the table of nations.
David Spoon:In other words, they're both coming from this point of view, saying it's probably that 11 took place somewhere towards the middle or towards the end of chapter 10.
David Spoon:Again, chronologically you can see Genesis 1:17 and Genesis 2:22.
David Spoon:Adam and Eve were both created.
David Spoon:But then when you get to Genesis 2:21, Eve's not alive yet.
David Spoon:So you know that it's not chronological, it's not complex, like, okay, get it.
David Spoon:And that's how the book opens.
David Spoon:So there's nothing weird about that.
David Spoon:But then it says this.
David Spoon:At one time, the whole world spoke a single language and used the same words.
David Spoon:As the people migrated eastward, they found a plane in the land of Babylonia and settled there.
David Spoon:And they began to talk about construction projects.
David Spoon:Now I'm using construction projects and I'm purposely using this version because what people do is they, when they start to get settled is they build.
David Spoon:And that's what they decided to do.
David Spoon:They came to talk about a building project.
David Spoon:And the first building project they went after.
David Spoon:Listen to what I'm going to say to you was about self glory.
David Spoon:And I want you to recognize that the principle of unity, as we find out at the Tower of Babel, it's very, very real.
David Spoon:And the reason that the Church needs to be functioning in unity.
David Spoon:It's not a unity we need to find.
David Spoon:It's a unity that is in the Father, through the Son and by the Spirit.
David Spoon:We have one heavenly Father, we are blood relatives and we drink of one Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:There is no if, ands or buts.
David Spoon:That unity is substantially there.
David Spoon:The differences between cultural elements and minor doctrines.
David Spoon:And people say, well, it's not a minor doctrine how a person gets baptized.
David Spoon:Well, that's your opinion.
David Spoon:People say, no, eschatology, that's not a minor doctrine.
David Spoon:That's your opinion.
David Spoon:That doesn't necessitate.
David Spoon:It's right.
David Spoon:The church is God's people and he is the builder.
David Spoon:And the way in is narrow.
David Spoon:But once you're in, you find out that it's like Israel, there's one tribe or there's one Israel, but 12 tribes.
David Spoon:But what we do find out for sure is that the people were united and they decided they're going to build a city that reaches to the skies.
David Spoon:And that's the ambition part.
David Spoon:So listen to what it says.
David Spoon:At one time, the whole world spoke a single language and used the same words.
David Spoon:And the people migrated eastward.
David Spoon:They found a plane in the land of Babylonia or Shinar, and they settled there.
David Spoon:They began to talk about construction projects.
David Spoon:Come, they said, let's make great piles of burnt bricks and collect natural asphalt to use as mortar.
David Spoon:Let's build a great city with a tower that reaches to the skies, a monument to our greatness.
David Spoon:What is the problem here?
David Spoon:It is another bad element.
David Spoon:After the flood, first we had Adam and Eve and then that thing turned into a disaster from the garden.
David Spoon:Then we have Noah and you have the whole flood taking place.
David Spoon:Now you've got yet again in chapter 11, the people getting together saying, hey, let's make a monument to us because we're so great.
David Spoon:And if you're trying to figure it out, think of our culture and how it's important for people to consider themselves social influencers.
David Spoon:And our fame, people in Hollywood and even the media, because they actually want the fame of greatness.
David Spoon:And how academia wants to buck the system so they could be known as those super awesome teachers and professors who changed the system.
David Spoon:It's all the same rubbish.
David Spoon:All that stuff you see now that has been going on forever and a day.
David Spoon:And these people got together and said, you know what we should do?
David Spoon:What's that, by golly?
David Spoon:Let's build a monument to ourselves.
David Spoon:We're going to build a tower that reaches to the heavens.
David Spoon:We're going to build a great city, and we're going to do it in our name to give an endorsement to our own greatness.
David Spoon:That's the problem.
David Spoon:Listen, there is nothing wrong with America being a leading country.
David Spoon:There is something substantially wrong If America goes.
David Spoon:We're so much better than everything and anyone else because we're awesome.
David Spoon:It's different to say we're definitely favored by the Lord because we seek him.
David Spoon:It's definitely not okay to say we're great because we are.
David Spoon:You see that difference?
David Spoon:You are great.
David Spoon:But you are great because God purchased you with the blood of Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:And that's what gives you your value.
David Spoon:Not how much money you produce, not really even how many children you have or grandchildren or anything.
David Spoon:None of that.
David Spoon:You are great because of the value God placed upon you.
David Spoon:And that that transaction actually took place.
David Spoon:God paid the blood of Jesus for you.
David Spoon:That's your worth.
David Spoon:But your worth is in God through Jesus Christ, not because you're just so awesome.
David Spoon:That's the problem our society has, that's the problem with our country right now, is that there's too many in the country that just spend more time looking in the mirror and less time looking at their neighbor.
David Spoon:And they're so overwhelmed and deeply satisfied with themselves.
David Spoon:Now you know why Jesus said, die to yourself.
David Spoon:Now we know why Jesus said, don't go down that road.
David Spoon:That's the road for destruction.
David Spoon:And what we have to do is be it.
David Spoon:And this is what I've been telling people.
David Spoon:You know, we've got a change in the election.
David Spoon:This is the prime time.
David Spoon:We should be praying for every one of our leaders, even the ones you don't like.
David Spoon:I know it's hard, but asking God to pray, to reach their hearts so that they might be sensitive to God, that's what we need in this next year.
David Spoon:We need to be praying more than ever and not praying against people.
David Spoon:We want to pray that the influence of God makes their impact.
David Spoon:Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.
David Spoon:And what were these people trying to do?
David Spoon:They were trying to establish their greatness.
David Spoon:That's a very dangerous position for anybody anywhere.
David Spoon:And they were like, hey, we're going to build a great city with a tower that reaches to the skies, a monument to our greatness.
David Spoon:This will bring us together and keep us from scattering all over the world.
David Spoon:But Psalm chapter 127, verse 1 says, Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that take it on.
David Spoon:And they were doing this outside of partnership with God, you know what's coming.
David Spoon:You know the story.
David Spoon:When we get back, we'll deal with it, okay?
David Spoon:But right now, we'll take a brief break.
David Spoon:Ladies and gentlemen, you're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
David Spoon:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:So there's teaching in the church.
David Spoon:Most of you, if you're familiar with the shepherding movement, just so you can know, Bob Mumford and Derek Prince, people who were influential in the church, came up with this idea of the shepherding movement, that the shepherd is responsible for the people.
David Spoon:And because the shepherd is responsible for the people, the shepherd should have authority to help them make decisions in life.
David Spoon:Initially, the idea is good in the sense of making good decisions, moral decisions, so on and so forth.
David Spoon:But it quickly grew into abuse, where people were making decisions about relationships, jobs, locations of living, how much they were giving, the whole nine yards, okay?
David Spoon:Pastor Ken was a huge fan of the shepherding movement.
David Spoon:He just didn't know it was called the shepherding movement.
David Spoon:He just liked the control.
David Spoon:So he would say to us, touch not my anointed, do my prophets no harm.
David Spoon:You can't speak against me.
David Spoon:It's okay that you took down the rabbi, but you can't do that to me.
David Spoon:Let me give you.
David Spoon:I'm going to read you a scripture.
David Spoon:I'm going to show you where the error is so that everybody can understand how deep the fallacy goes.
David Spoon:This comes out of Psalm 105, and this is verse eight.
David Spoon:And I'm going to show you something that a lot of people won't show you because they don't understand the word context.
David Spoon:Verse 8.
David Spoon:In Psalm 105, he has remembered his covenant forever.
David Spoon:The word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
David Spoon:The covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac, then confirmed it to Jacob, to Israel, to who?
David Spoon:To Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying to you, I will give the land of Canaan and the portion of your inheritance, when they were only a few in people, very few and strangers in it.
David Spoon:And they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.
David Spoon:He allowed no one to oppress them.
David Spoon:And he rebuked kings for their sakes, saying, do not touch my anointed one, and do my prophets no harm.
David Spoon:In context.
David Spoon:Touch not my anointed ones, and do my prophet no harm, is all the people of Israel.
David Spoon:And God was telling all these different gentile nations, don't touch my people, don't touch my people.
David Spoon:You touch my people, you're going to be in trouble.
David Spoon:Bad, bad, bad.
David Spoon:Don't do that.
David Spoon:I'll blow you up.
David Spoon:This is like that kind of thing.
David Spoon:And what the pastors have done is they've taken that verse out of context, even though it refers to the people of God.
David Spoon:And you think, wait, wait, wait.
David Spoon:Are you telling me it's not the leaders?
David Spoon:Touch not my anointed one.
David Spoon:Christ means anointed one.
David Spoon:Christians is anointed ones.
David Spoon:Specifically, that passage is about people who don't believe in God touching God's people.
David Spoon:That's exactly what it's got nothing to do with.
David Spoon:A pastor by himself.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:We're going to be quick on this, but let's do it.
David Spoon:It's really good.
David Spoon:Here's your next trivia question.
David Spoon:Which disciple of Jesus'ultimately an apostle.
David Spoon:Which disciple held a feast for Jesus and invited tax collectors and sinners?
David Spoon:One of the gospel writers.
David Spoon:Which disciple held a feast for Jesus and invited tax collectors and sinners to the feast?
David Spoon:Which one of his disciples did that?
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email.
David Spoon:David.
David Spoon:David.
David Spoon:He must increase.org just to let everybody know my little button thing is working.
David Spoon:Yay, Jacob.
David Spoon:Did you fix it by yourself?
David Spoon:Did you do that by yourself?
David Spoon:I can't hear you.
Jacob:Brian came in and I told him about it and there was something unplugged.
David Spoon:No, he plugged it in.
David Spoon:That was it.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Well, just for that, I will not mercifully talk about football till tomorrow.
Jacob:I thought you were going to say just for that, I will not give you a golf clap.
David Spoon:Yeah, well, right.
David Spoon:I'm not going to get.
David Spoon:I give.
David Spoon:Here's a golf clap for Brian.
David Spoon:Thank you, Brian.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Anyway, which disciple held a feast for Jesus, invited tax collectors and sinners?
David Spoon:We do have somebody on the line.
David Spoon:Is that correct?
David Spoon:Because it looks like it.
David Spoon:Yep.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Samson:Dr.
Samson:Stone, this is Fred.
Samson:How you doing?
David Spoon:Hello, Fred.
David Spoon:Good to hear your voice.
David Spoon:How are you, brother?
David Spoon:I'm doing fine.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:You Ready for this one?
Samson:I think so.
David Spoon:I have a very sneaky suspicion that you will do this in a phenomenal way.
David Spoon:You ready?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Which disciple.
David Spoon:Which disciple held the feast for Jesus and invited tax collectors and sinners?
Samson:That would be Matthew.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Amend us.
David Spoon:That is right.
David Spoon:He's like, yeah.
David Spoon:Guys, meet this guy.
David Spoon:I'm leaving the business.
David Spoon:I want you to meet my new boss.
David Spoon:He used to be a carpenter.
David Spoon:Absolutely.
David Spoon:Absolutely.
Samson:Anyway, I'm going to hang up and listen to you.
David Spoon:Thank you, brother.
David Spoon:You're a blessing.
Samson:All right.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, so I'm not going to send you the website because we don't have enough time.
David Spoon:I'm just going to tell you about the website.
David Spoon:Let me just make it clear.
David Spoon:We need 2,800 bucks in a hurry.
David Spoon:There it is.
David Spoon:You know what you do?
David Spoon:You check it out athe must increase.org.
David Spoon:that's all.
David Spoon:If you like the ministry and you haven't given before, pray about it.
David Spoon:If the Lord tells you no, don't give.
David Spoon:Always do what God said.
David Spoon:Never, never, never, never.
David Spoon:I don't care how manipulative the preaching tactics are or whatever.
David Spoon:You give as you are in this partnership with God.
David Spoon:It is right to give.
David Spoon:It is scripturally commanded.
David Spoon:But you do it in your connection with the Lord.
David Spoon:You don't do it because other people coerce you, because from compulsion or manipulation.
David Spoon:You just do it the right way.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:That's why Noelle.
David Spoon:And in the last two years, we give in a multitude of places.
David Spoon:We no longer just give one place.
David Spoon:We give multitude of places because we feel like we're in a better partnership with the Lord.
David Spoon:When we're doing that, we just like that.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Anyway, if you can give, great.
David Spoon:If not, I'll harp on it more tomorrow.
David Spoon:In the meantime, excellent job, by the way, by Fred.
David Spoon:We will, in fact, do this quick history, super quick.
David Spoon:And then I'll.
David Spoon:Let's go.
David Spoon:Let fake him the past.
David Spoon:All right?
David Spoon:We already acknowledged it's Veterans Day.
David Spoon:We did that.
David Spoon:And we prayed for all the veterans.
David Spoon:Just remember that.
David Spoon:November 11th, honoring military veterans, a person who has served in the United States Armed Forces.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:It is also.
David Spoon:I don't know really what to say about this.
David Spoon:It's origami day, which I then just say this, and you have to figure this out.
David Spoon:It's origami Day.
David Spoon:Really?
David Spoon:Isn't that a light chicken gravy?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:From the three amigos.
David Spoon:See?
David Spoon:Isn't that a light chicken gravy?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:It's Also national.
David Spoon:Yeah.
Jacob:I'm lost.
David Spoon:I haven't seen that National Sunday day.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Like a Sunday, like, ice cream sundae.
David Spoon:So that's good.
David Spoon:I mean, ice cream is not evil.
David Spoon:Won't be on planet ice cream when I'm in heaven, I can tell you that.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:For those that really are interested.
David Spoon:This is just weird.
David Spoon:1988, the world's loudest scream was recorded.
David Spoon:I'm not even kidding.
David Spoon:Simon Robinson of south Australia hit 128 decibels.
David Spoon:Decibels.
David Spoon:This is almost as loud as a jet aircraft 50ft away.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:I should call.
Jacob:I think if we really practiced, I think we could break the record.
Jacob:David.
Jacob:We can try it over the air.
David Spoon:Yeah, people would love that.
David Spoon:All right, let me get to this last.
David Spoon:People would just think that's awesome.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Don't forget about giving.
David Spoon:We'll do football tomorrow.
David Spoon:We did that.
David Spoon:We did that.
David Spoon:We did.
David Spoon:Here's the one part I want to get you to do, and I want you to catch us, because I'm only going to talk about it for a second.
David Spoon:I want you to figure this out.
David Spoon:So God is teaching us through his word, talking about the Tower of Babel.
David Spoon: d a little bit before Genesis: David Spoon:Before they were all speaking different languages and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:And so they're all together and say, hey, we got a great idea.
David Spoon:What's that?
David Spoon:Well, let's begin to make these construction projects.
David Spoon:We're going to have burnt brick.
David Spoon:We're going to use natural asphalt, which was tar, by the way.
David Spoon:And then we'll use that for mortar.
David Spoon:And then we're going to build a great tower that reaches the sky, a monument to our greatness.
David Spoon:And that will bring us together because we'll all be great together.
David Spoon:Which is ironic, because to be great, there's not usually a togetherness.
David Spoon:There's usually an individuality to it.
David Spoon:Verse 5.
David Spoon:Now, I'm just going to.
David Spoon:I want you to hear what they're saying.
David Spoon:But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.
David Spoon:Look.
David Spoon:He said, if they can accomplish this when they've just begun to take advantage of their common language, think what they can do later.
David Spoon:Let me explain something to you.
David Spoon:The principle and the power of unity are substantial.
David Spoon:And I'm not going to teach any more on that from this text.
David Spoon:I'm going to talk about the reality of unity.
David Spoon:Jesus made it absolutely clear.
David Spoon:A house divided cannot stand.
David Spoon:And if you're thinking, well, how do I know that's True.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:How many divorces do you know in people in your lives?
David Spoon:If a house is not united, it cannot stand.
David Spoon:If a family is not united, it does not stand.
David Spoon:If a group is not united, it does not stand.
David Spoon:If a city is not united, it will not stand.
David Spoon:A state is not united will not stand.
David Spoon:In a country, this country will not stand if there is nothing but constant division.
David Spoon:And we've already seen what a civil war can do and how epic that was, how absolutely crazy it was.
David Spoon:Now we're having these same kind of things happen, only it's got this.
David Spoon:It's still got the political bent.
David Spoon:And what I want you to hear the Lord say is this.
David Spoon:He said they're united and they can do it.
David Spoon:God didn't say they're united, but they can't do it.
David Spoon:The principle of unity is phenomenal in Scripture.
David Spoon:They have put together this process and they are going to do this and accomplish this.
David Spoon:In fact, nothing will be impossible for them.
David Spoon:There's this power and unity that we tend to forget.
David Spoon:And ironically, the church, if it could just get it together, can get then to that unity factor.
David Spoon:Yes, we're going to have things we disagree about, just like you and your spouse or you and your children, everything else.
David Spoon:But the unifying factors for Christians are so much higher.
David Spoon:The unifying factors are Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:And there's nothing that would be impossible for them.
David Spoon:God says of them who are trying to do it.
David Spoon:That's why you have to be aware.
David Spoon:Any political party has tremendous power if they're unified.
David Spoon:That's just a reality.
David Spoon:But there is a difference between unified having a power and unified in the kingdom of God.
David Spoon:Unified having a power is very effective, but unity in the kingdom of God is absolutely unstoppable.
David Spoon:Not Satan himself can stop it.
David Spoon:This is the power that we don't cling to, that we should cling to.
David Spoon:And you just get that suspicion that one way or another, depending on how the eschatology breaks down, Christians are going to figure out we are to stand with one another, period.
David Spoon:Because when they start shooting Christians, I promise they won't sit there and go, what's your denomination?
David Spoon:I mean, they're not going to do that.
David Spoon:And so we need to recognize if we are united, it is an unstoppable, spiritually and practically an unstoppable power.
David Spoon:Instead of searching for the difference which people do when they're a little more judgmental than they need to be, we need to search for the unity factors, right?
David Spoon:The essentials There has to be a unity, the non essentials.
David Spoon:There has to be a liberty, a freedom and for everything there has to be a love, a compassion in the essentials, unity in the non essentials, liberty in all things, charity.
David Spoon:Got it.
David Spoon:That's what the Lord wants.
David Spoon:Because remember, the Holy Spirit that's in you is in your brother who goes to the church down the street.
David Spoon:If it's a genuine Bible believing church.
David Spoon:And you know when it's not.
David Spoon:You know when they get together and they promote sin, it's not hard to figure out if you've read your Bible, right?
David Spoon:But God said they are powerful.
David Spoon:Then God said, I'm not with them, I'm going to wipe it out.
David Spoon:That is what we get to cover next week, which I think by the way is totally cool.
David Spoon:Lest the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain.
David Spoon:That.
David Spoon:Take it on.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right, Cool.
David Spoon:All right, folks, you've been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the truth station here in Texas.
