Curses and Blessings: Understanding the Legacy of Noah's Sons

The David Spoon Experience dives into the complexities of human behavior and scriptural teachings, focusing on the aftermath of Noah's drunkenness and the actions of his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The episode highlights how the curse placed upon Ham's descendants serves as a reflection of humanity's propensity for wrongdoing, even following divine deliverance. David discusses the importance of owning one's mistakes rather than shifting blame, drawing parallels between biblical narratives and modern-day accountability. The conversation also touches on the theological implications of statements made by political figures, emphasizing that God does not need human assistance but invites us to participate in His work. With a mix of humor and insightful commentary, this episode encourages listeners to reflect on their faith and the responsibility that comes with it.

Takeaways:

  • Noah's drunkenness led to significant family consequences, illustrating the dangers of excess.
  • The curse placed upon Ham's descendants highlights the complexity of family dynamics post-flood.
  • Shem and Japheth's actions demonstrate the importance of respecting parental dignity and privacy.
  • Understanding the implications of sin is crucial, as seen in the story of Noah.
  • The episode emphasizes the need for personal accountability rather than blame-shifting in relationships.
  • God's grace is essential for redemption, even amidst human failure and shortcomings.

The latest installment of the David Spoon Experience presents an engaging and multifaceted examination of the biblical narrative surrounding Noah and his sons. The host skillfully guides listeners through the aftermath of the Great Flood, focusing on Noah's transformation from a figure of righteousness to one of vulnerability. This episode unpacks the complexities of human behavior, particularly in moments of weakness, as Noah succumbs to drunkenness. Spoon's analysis of this pivotal moment serves as a springboard for a broader discussion on the implications of our choices and the moral lessons embedded within the biblical text. By juxtaposing the actions of Noah with those of his sons—especially Ham, who disrespects his father—listeners are invited to ponder the values of honor and integrity, even when faced with difficult circumstances.

Delving deeper into the narrative, the episode highlights the significance of the curse placed upon Ham's descendants, raising thought-provoking questions about the repercussions of one's actions across generations. Spoon emphasizes the importance of recognizing and owning one's mistakes rather than shifting blame, drawing parallels between the biblical account and contemporary issues of accountability in society. The host's candid reflections on personal experiences further enrich the discussion, making the biblical lessons relatable and applicable to everyday life. This emphasis on personal responsibility resonates throughout the episode, reinforcing the idea that our choices not only shape our own destinies but also influence those around us.

As the episode progresses, the atmosphere shifts to a more interactive format, with trivia questions that engage the audience and test their scriptural knowledge. This segment not only serves as entertainment but also reinforces the educational aspect of the show, encouraging listeners to reflect on their understanding of biblical teachings. The interplay between humor and serious reflection is a hallmark of the David Spoon Experience, as the host manages to weave lighthearted moments into profound discussions about faith and morality. By the end of the episode, listeners are left with a sense of urgency to apply the lessons learned from Noah's story to their own lives, fostering a commitment to live with integrity and accountability in their personal and spiritual journeys.

Speaker A:

And now for something completely different.

Speaker A:

Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.

Speaker B:

It's marvelous, monumental, most fascinating, massively mind.

Speaker A:

Bending Monday as we join our hearts.

Speaker B:

And minds as one, drawing closer to.

Speaker A:

The king of kings and glorifying his name first.

Speaker A:

We tried to do this last week.

Speaker B:

And it didn't work.

Speaker B:

So we'll try it again.

Speaker A:

We pick it up in Genesis, chapter 9, 9, 18.

Speaker A:

We also understand this.

Speaker A:

Shem, Ham, and Japheth are descendants of Noah.

Speaker A:

And it is through these three men, the entire world is about to be repopulated.

Speaker A:

No question we all came from Adam and Eve.

Speaker B:

And there's also no question we all.

Speaker A:

Came from Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Speaker B:

Next, we come to understand that Noah.

Speaker A:

Became a farmer and planted a vineyard.

Speaker B:

This is in verse 20 of chapter 9.

Speaker A:

In verse 21, we see that Noah drank a little bit of wine that he had made and he became drunk.

Speaker A:

Not just a little drunk, but the kind of drunk where a person throws off their clothes.

Speaker A:

And Ham of Ham, Shem and Japheth saw his father's nakedness.

Speaker A:

And then maybe something more happened.

Speaker A:

And finally, out of respect for their father, Shem and Japheth took a garment and covered his nakedness.

Speaker A:

Without seeing it themselves.

Speaker A:

They turned their faces away so they.

Speaker B:

Could not see it.

Speaker A:

In verse 24, when Noah awakes and knew what his younger son had done, he cursed him.

Speaker A:

The curse was that he would be a servant to his brothers.

Speaker A:

That was the curse.

Speaker B:

Shem and Japheth both received blessings, but.

Speaker A:

Ham and his offspring Canaan received a curse.

Speaker A:

Let's just be honest, and I said this last week.

Speaker A:

This is not a great beginning to the new earth.

Speaker A:

Ouch.

Lessons for surviving living and prevailing politics, entertainment and current events which we actually might get into.

Speaker A:

Spiritual observations, My life's insanities.

Speaker A:

No way.

Speaker A:

So much more.

Speaker A:

How much more?

Speaker A:

So much more, that's how much more.

Speaker A:

Now remember, it's not professional radio.

Speaker A:

And to prove it's not professional radio, we are Going to check with the Inspector general of professional radio.

Speaker A:

Like that one.

Speaker A:

The inspector general of professional radio.

Speaker B:

The very.

Speaker B:

Our very own, the very, one and.

Speaker A:

Only, Jam and Jacob.

Speaker A:

Jam and Jacob is the David Swoon Experience.

Speaker A:

By the way, professional radio.

Jammin Jacob:

No, it is not, David.

Jammin Jacob:

And for a second there, I thought you were going to say Inspector Gadget, like the old cartoon.

Speaker A:

No, but now you've given me another one for the future.

Speaker A:

Thank you.

Jammin Jacob:

You're welcome.

Speaker A:

All right, here's what we know.

Speaker A:

It's not professional radio, okay?

Speaker A:

It's not.

Speaker A:

It's just radio.

Speaker A:

And the bottom line is we want to know how you're doing and what you think.

Speaker A:

So we have access points for email, for text, and for phone.

Speaker A:

But we have somebody on the phone and I don't know what it's about.

Speaker A:

So I want to give them a chance because sitting on the phone a long time when I talk can be.

Speaker B:

Very much a challenge.

Speaker A:

So let's at least start off by sending the person through.

Speaker A:

Go ahead and send them out through.

Speaker B:

Knock, knock.

Speaker B:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Samson:

This is Shankar, Ham and Baloney.

Speaker A:

Okay, what's going.

Speaker A:

It's Abenago.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, brother, what's taking place?

Samson:

I have an answer for your trivia question that you're gonna ask me.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Did you hear it?

Samson:

Well, in my spirit.

Speaker A:

I didn't ask a trivia question yet.

Samson:

Well, I know it's a prophetic.

Speaker A:

You're ready to do the prophetic trivia.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I like it.

Speaker B:

All right, here you go.

Speaker A:

Here's your first.

Speaker A:

Ready?

Speaker A:

It's a prophetic, I think.

Speaker A:

Okay, here we go.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Who spotted Moses in the Nile?

Speaker A:

Placed in the ark of bulrushes on.

Speaker B:

A little floaty thing.

Speaker A:

Who spotted him?

Samson:

That was Pharaoh's daughter.

Speaker A:

That is correct, Abigail.

Speaker A:

That is exactly right.

Speaker A:

What is happening with you, my brother?

Samson:

Like, earlier, I know you were praying for your wife and you guys are in my prayer.

Samson:

I also need a prayer.

Samson:

Later on, you guys could pray for my younger daughter.

Samson:

She has been having that headache and dizzy spell, like, especially when she's lying and she gets up so she feels very dizzy and it's painful.

Samson:

So we gonna take her back to her doctor to just check it her out.

Samson:

So just pray that we are praying for her, that God will supernaturally heal her.

Samson:

But if it's necessary, we are not opposed and we're going to take her to doctor.

Speaker A:

All right, let's pray for her.

Speaker A:

Okay, let's do it.

Speaker B:

Father, we come before you right now.

Speaker A:

And Lord, there's no question you heal by both.

Speaker A:

You healed by your touch, miraculously and on the spot.

Speaker A:

And you also use medicine, a gift given from you to mankind to be used to help people.

Speaker A:

And so, Lord, we're asking first Lord, please bring your healing power into Samson's daughter so that she can be healed.

Speaker A:

She can be completely free from dizzy, completely free from that uncomfortableness, that imbalance.

Speaker A:

But Lord, if there's something else going on and we're not privy, we don't know, and you've got a purpose here, which you always do, then we ask you to give the doctor wisdom and grace and insight.

Speaker A:

And that if the healing has to come about through that means, then so be it.

Speaker B:

But let it be unto your glory.

Speaker A:

Let no person take credit.

Speaker A:

Let no person take any form of credit.

Speaker A:

Let all of the glory be given and directed to you for you giving us life and breath and everything else.

Speaker A:

And give Samson a confidence.

Speaker A:

Don't let him feel like he's not.

Speaker B:

Doing a good job as a dad.

Speaker A:

Or anything along those lines.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

The devil just works those angles, Lord, all the time.

Speaker A:

Let him push that nonsense aside and take care of what must be taken care of as a dad.

Speaker A:

And then he'll be strong and confident.

Speaker A:

He's doing his before you the best he can do.

Speaker B:

And bless him and his daughter and their family and the mom and the whole process.

Speaker A:

We pray this in Jesus name.

Speaker A:

Amen and amen.

Samson:

Amen and amen.

Speaker A:

Amen, brother.

Samson:

Good.

Samson:

I have a quick.

Samson:

I know you mentioned earlier you're gonna share a joke, so I have a joke before I go.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Samson:

Well, it's kind of little trivia joke kind of thing.

Speaker A:

Trivia.

Speaker A:

Okay, well, where.

Samson:

Okay, where is the first tennis match mentioned in the Bible?

Speaker A:

Pharaoh's court.

Samson:

Okay, and what about who is the greatest babysitter mentioned in the Bible?

Speaker A:

Who is the greatest babysitter mentioned in the Bible?

Samson:

Go for it, David, because he rocked Goliath to sleep.

Speaker B:

There you go, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker A:

He rocked Goliath to sleep.

Speaker A:

Good job, brother.

Samson:

Thank you, David.

Samson:

You're amazing.

Speaker A:

God bless you, bro.

Samson:

God bless you.

Speaker B:

Bye bye.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker A:

See now people are out there going, what was that all about?

Speaker A:

Us brothers, sisters, loving each other, taking care of each other.

Speaker A:

That's what you do, right?

Speaker A:

That's what the Lord wants from us.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right, so let's go back to this one thing I didn't finish, and I do want to finish it.

Speaker A:

And here's what I'm going to tell you.

Speaker A:

You know, you can email us during the show.

Speaker A:

So that's simple.

Speaker A:

That's straightforward.

Speaker A:

Okay, you can email us david must increase.org.

Speaker B:

So you got the David.

Speaker A:

Okay, I think you guys know how to spell David.

Speaker A:

D, A V, I D at.

Speaker A:

So that's the A with the goofy.

Speaker B:

Circle all around it.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

So the A inside the circle.

Speaker A:

David at.

Speaker B:

He must increase from John 3:30.

Speaker A:

He must increase.

Speaker A:

I must decrease.org because we're a nonprofit entity and our bank account seems like that.

Speaker A:

Okay, so here's what I'm saying.

Speaker B:

Jammin Jacob:

Thank you, David.

Jammin Jacob:

Happy Monday.

Speaker A:

Happy Monday to you.

Speaker A:

You know, I just remember what I was going to ask you in the very beginning of the show, and that is, do you have another song picked out?

Speaker B:

Because by the end of this week.

Speaker A:

We'Ll be done with October.

Jammin Jacob:

Right?

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker A:

Did you have another November song coming our way?

Jammin Jacob:

I have a few in mind, but I will have a new song starting November 1st.

Jammin Jacob:

No, it's the suspense.

Speaker A:

These are the things that everybody wants to keep up on.

Speaker A:

What's his next song?

Speaker A:

Okay, here we go.

Speaker B:

In the meantime, let's do this.

Speaker A:

We just did that trivia question.

Speaker A:

I got another trivia question, and then I'll probably go off on a tangent, so just bear with me.

Speaker A:

All right, here's your trivia question for everybody.

Speaker A:

Who sold his birthright for a bowl of Stew?

Speaker A:

Genesis:

Speaker A:

Who sold his birthright?

Speaker A:

Who sold his birthright for a bowl of stew?

Speaker B:

That is the question.

Speaker A:

Genesis 29.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry?

Speaker A:

Genesis 25.

Speaker A:

29 through 34.

Speaker A:

If you think you know the answer, you can reach out to us.

Speaker B:

How do you do that?

Speaker A:

We've already told you.

Speaker A:

We'll tell you again.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or you can send an email.

Speaker A:

David must increase.org that's David must increase.org so who.

Speaker A:

Who.

Speaker A:

Who sold his birthright?

Speaker A:

See part of the hint, right?

Speaker A:

There's a guy who sold his birthright for a bowl of stew.

Speaker B:

That's the question.

Speaker A:

Let's see if you have the answer.

Speaker B:

In the meantime, there's a couple of.

Speaker A:

Different directions that I want to talk to you about.

Speaker A:

I do want to bring this up real quickly, and that is simply this.

Speaker A:

I want you to be aware that we are in Genesis 9 and we are at verse 18.

Speaker A:

And I'm going to say this and do this with a little bit of tact, but I'm hoping you guys follow verse 18.

Speaker B:

Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the three sons.

Speaker A:

Of Noah, survived the flood with their father, Ham.

Speaker A:

Ham.

Speaker A:

Ham is the ancestor of the Canaanites.

Speaker B:

From these three sons of Noah came.

Speaker A:

All the people now scattered across the earth.

Speaker A:

So from these three people, the same dynamic that happened with Adam, it happens now with these three guys, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Speaker B:

After the flood, verse 20, Noah became.

Speaker A:

A farmer and planted a vineyard.

Speaker B:

How far after the flood?

Speaker B:

That's a little bit debatable.

Speaker A:

I'm not too worried about that.

Speaker A:

He became a farmer and he planted a vineyard.

Speaker A:

And one day he became drunk on.

Speaker B:

Some wine that he had made and.

Speaker A:

Laid naked in his tent.

Speaker A:

Let's just discuss a few things, and let's do one of their more honest discussions.

Speaker A:

Noah, after that unbelievable process, and I think most of us would agree, pretty, pretty dramatic, right after we go through that process, Noah becomes a farmer and he plants a vineyard.

Speaker A:

First vineyard that we know of, right?

Speaker A:

Nobody knows of any other vineyard.

Speaker A:

Here's the first one that we know of, right?

Speaker A:

Can you imagine finding somehow the vineyard?

Speaker A:

I'm just saying.

Speaker A:

And there, verse 20 in chapter 9, we see in 21, he drank wine.

Speaker A:

How much wine did Noah drink?

Speaker A:

He passed out and he took his clothes off of him.

Speaker A:

How much wine do you think Noah drank?

Speaker A:

A lot.

Speaker A:

And don't be sitting there and saying, well, it really wasn't a lot.

Speaker B:

He was so drunk he took his.

Speaker A:

Clothes off and passed out.

Speaker A:

That is a lot of wine to drink.

Speaker A:

Wine in the Bible is often shown as a gift from God.

Speaker A:

It is not an evil in and of itself unless you do what he did, and that is drink a lot of it.

Speaker A:

And I mean a lot of it.

Speaker A:

So when Paul says to Timothy, use a little wine for thine, often infirmities.

Speaker B:

We understand wine had a medicinal property.

Speaker A:

Got it.

Speaker A:

That's not a big deal.

Speaker A:

But this has nothing to do with that.

Speaker A:

Noah went to town, there was no tavern, folks.

Speaker B:

There was no bar.

Speaker A:

There was no music.

Speaker A:

There was no jukebox.

Speaker A:

There wasn't people egging him on.

Speaker A:

There was none of that.

Speaker A:

He planted a vineyard and drank his brains out.

Speaker A:

That's what he did.

Speaker A:

I often think, because what we're going to get into is his inter engagement.

Speaker B:

With Ham and then what happens with Shem and Japheth.

Speaker A:

But I often think it is amazing that it was not much addressed.

Speaker A:

And maybe that was because of all that Noah did, or maybe God was giving him a break or whatever.

Speaker A:

But what we definitely see is drinking too much wine creates problems.

Speaker A:

Even if you're righteous, it's not that you can't.

Speaker A:

For some people, they should not drink wine.

Speaker A:

Let's just be honest.

Speaker A:

For other people, if they drink wine, it should be very limited.

Speaker A:

But in this case, we see a righteous man who went too far.

Speaker A:

Apparently he did a pretty good job of making wine because it messed him up pretty good.

Speaker A:

God is not blessing this because from this comes a curse.

Speaker A:

It is also a lesson.

Speaker A:

It is one thing to be in liberty in the Lord.

Speaker A:

It is entirely a different thing to be extremely inebriated in the Lord.

Speaker A:

And that second thing I said that I messed up when I said it, that's not a good one, right?

Speaker A:

I mean, come on, you don't need rocket science to tell you that.

Speaker A:

Bad call.

Speaker A:

Maybe if he drank a little less, it would have been a little smoother.

Speaker A:

Doesn't seem like that's how it happened.

Speaker A:

He drank so much, he passed out.

Speaker A:

Sorry.

Speaker A:

All right, we do have somebody ready to answer their trivia questions, so let's send them on through.

Jammin Jacob:

No trivia question, but a question.

Speaker B:

A question.

Speaker B:

No question.

Speaker A:

Trivia question.

Speaker A:

All right, we'll send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Jacob:

Yeah, hello.

Speaker A:

Hi.

Speaker A:

Hi.

Jacob:

Hey, how you doing?

Jacob:

My name is Jacob and I was calling to see ask a couple questions and if you'd be willing to say a prayer for me.

Speaker A:

Definitely willing to say a prayer for you.

Speaker B:

No question about that.

Speaker A:

Because believing God can bring great results out of tough situations is something that we believe.

Speaker A:

We believe that God is gracious.

Speaker A:

And so we definitely.

Speaker A:

Amen for you.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Jacob:

Amen.

Speaker A:

All right.

Jacob:

Saved by grace.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Jacob:

An Undeserved gift.

Jacob:

I like it.

Speaker A:

Yep, that is exactly how it goes.

Jacob:

So I.

Jacob:

I am in town traveling, and I.

Jacob:

I stumbled across this station and I heard you, and I was so impressed by the things you were saying with the callers, and I wanted to call and ask you to pray for me.

Jacob:

I'm in town to buy a radio station and to buy a radio station and turn it into a Christian radio station.

Jacob:

And I just want you to pray for me that all goes well and that the Lord's will is done and that we get this station to glorify his kingdom.

Speaker A:

That's a great thing.

Speaker A:

Let's do it.

Speaker A:

Let's pray right now.

Speaker A:

And with you are a multitude of people that are all prayer warriors who participate in this show, which is so cool because they're like the best prayers.

Speaker A:

They're really cool people.

Speaker A:

So let me pray for you, Jason.

Jacob:

Okay, thank you so much.

Speaker A:

Let's do it.

Speaker A:

Father, we come before you right now.

Speaker A:

Lift up.

Speaker A:

Jason.

Speaker A:

First and foremost, we just want to thank you for his heart trying to do things for the kingdom.

Speaker A:

Next, we pray for protection while he's driving.

Speaker A:

The enemy's not going to like it.

Speaker A:

We can figure that out.

Speaker A:

So just put the angels in front and behind him and let them be okie dokie, traveling mercies all the way around.

Speaker A:

But Lord, open the door that you desire him to walk through and make it so clear he can't miss it.

Speaker B:

He just looks at it and says.

Speaker A:

This is you and does it for your glory.

Speaker A:

So, Lord, we're just asking you to bless him and guide him and direct him.

Speaker A:

But in all of this, Lord, more.

Speaker B:

Importantly than all this, that he would.

Speaker A:

Continue to draw near to you.

Speaker A:

James 4, 8.

Speaker B:

And you would draw near to him.

Speaker A:

Through the whole process.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Because that is absolutely powerful.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Lord, we thank you for him.

Speaker A:

We ask you to bless him.

Speaker A:

We ask you to guide him and direct his steps.

Speaker A:

In Jesus name, Amen and Amen.

Jacob:

Amen.

Jacob:

Thank you so much.

Speaker A:

You got it, man.

Jacob:

I appreciate it.

Speaker A:

You got it.

Jacob:

We need all the prayers we can get where we're trying.

Jacob:

We're entering the Dallas Fort Worth market, and we need all the prayers we can get so we can.

Jacob:

So we can help glorify the kingdom and fulfill the Great Commission.

Jacob:

And I appreciate you.

Jacob:

I applaud you for your efforts in doing so.

Jacob:

So thank you for the program and the work that you're doing for the Lord.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's like breathing.

Speaker B:

I love it so much.

Speaker A:

So I appreciate it.

Jacob:

I feel the same way.

Jacob:

So thank you, and you have a blessed day.

Speaker A:

Thank you, brother.

Speaker A:

God bless you.

Jacob:

All right, you too.

Speaker A:

Bye Bye.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

There you go.

Speaker A:

That's part of the show, and that's part of what we do.

Speaker B:

Why?

Speaker B:

Because that's what we do for one another.

Speaker A:

In fact, the scripture is clear that we're supposed to carry one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Speaker B:

Paul said, join me in my struggle.

Speaker A:

By praying for me.

Speaker A:

That's one of the ways that you carry one another's burdens.

Speaker A:

That's Romans:

Speaker A:

Okay, so let me answer a trivia question, then we'll break.

Speaker A:

And now I don't know where the rest of it's going, so just hang on.

Speaker A:

We'll see, because we're doing our best.

Speaker B:

I have the notes, but that doesn't.

Speaker A:

Mean it's going there.

Speaker A:

So let's answer the trivia question.

Speaker A:

Who sold his birthright for a bowl of Stew?

Speaker A:

Esau.

Speaker A:

Genesis:

Speaker B:

Esau sold it for a bowl of stew.

Speaker A:

If you've read in Hebrews, you find out that he sought repentance with tears.

Speaker B:

But couldn't find it.

Speaker A:

You know what that means?

Speaker A:

It means that sometimes people who act like they're going to repent or say, I'm going to sin my brains out.

Speaker B:

Until the very end and then repent.

Speaker A:

Right at the end, they don't always get the opportunity to find it.

Speaker A:

So that's just a straight up warning for those that are trying to live on the edge.

Speaker A:

It don't work that way.

Speaker A:

It's nice thought, and you would be the first person to work the system, but the system doesn't operate that way, so not so much.

Speaker A:

All right, we'll take our break and then come back.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break.

Speaker A:

We'll be back.

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Narrator:

Like any person searching for answers, I too have wondered about him.

Narrator:

He has a weird sense of humor.

Narrator:

If people are seeking wisdom and insight from the great teachers around the world, would they go to David?

Narrator:

No, I don't think so.

Narrator:

Those big ears really don't help.

Narrator:

Will people enjoy his perspective on culture, politics, food, sports, and local and national news?

Narrator:

I don't know.

Narrator:

He's just a client.

Narrator:

Tune in to the David Spoon Experience on kaam.

Speaker A:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

Caller:

Can I blow your mind?

Caller:

You know, I did this with you before, but on a different text.

Speaker A:

I love this text.

Speaker A:

You will love this text.

Speaker A:

Because you and I are sci fi people.

Speaker A:

You'll love this.

Speaker A:

I mean, this is one of those.

Speaker A:

Oh, goodness gracious, that's so good.

Speaker A:

st Samuel:

Caller:

St Samuel:

Speaker A:

Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, your, okay.

Speaker A:

st Samuel:

Caller:

Then David said, o Lord God of Israel, your servant has heard for certain that Saul is seeking to come to destroy the city on my account.

Caller:

Will the men of Keilah surrender me into his hand?

Caller:

Will Saul come down, just as your servant has heard, O Lord God of Israel, I pray tell your servant.

Caller:

And the Lord said, he will come down.

Caller:

Then David said, will the men surrender me and my men to the hand of Saul?

Caller:

And the Lord said, they will surrender you.

Caller:

I love this portion.

Caller:

Because people, we think in these boxes and we force God into our theology and say he must conform here, which is just insanity by itself.

Caller:

Here's a situation where David hears that Saul is coming down to try and get him, and he's asking, will the people of the city surrender me?

Caller:

I've helped them, I've defended them, I've given them some deliverance.

Caller:

It's Saul going to come in and change their mind, and they're going to give me up.

Caller:

And the Lord says, yeah, that's going to happen.

Caller:

Now, if you read the rest of the passage in 1 Samuel 23, David leaves.

Caller:

So he is not surrendered to Saul by the men of the city.

Caller:

But what I want you to catch is this.

Caller:

God knew what the outcome was going to be if David stayed and what the outcome was going to be if David left.

Caller:

In other words, God knew the alternate universe or the alternate pathway that was taking place.

Caller:

We've talked about this before.

Caller:

It's one of those cool thoughts where we don't think of it in these terms.

Caller:

But remember, David says to God, hey, are they gonna give me up?

Caller:

And the Lord's like, yeah, they're gonna give you up.

Caller:

That's what's gonna happen.

Caller:

So you need to make a decision and go a different direction so we can have a different outcome.

Caller:

And it's like God knew what the outcome was if they gave him up.

Caller:

And God knew what the outcome was if he left.

Caller:

God knew what it would be if he went left or right.

Caller:

If we went west, east, north, or south, God knew what the outcome was gonna be no matter what.

Caller:

Because God is omniscient.

Caller:

He knows all things, which means he knows every alternate route.

Speaker A:

Amazing grace, how sweet.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining US here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker B:

That's KAAMN 770, the Truce Station here.

Speaker A:

In Texas where I called Jacob, Jason, the caller, which I do really good at.

Speaker A:

I don't know if you guys have noticed, that's one of my great, great, great talents, is getting names wrong.

Speaker A:

You should see my signature.

Speaker A:

There is a reason why I have a doctorate.

Speaker A:

You couldn't read my signature.

Speaker B:

I signed my name for the gal.

Speaker A:

When I went to vote.

Speaker A:

She just laughed.

Speaker A:

These people see thousands and thousands.

Speaker A:

The signature is like.

Speaker A:

Like, Right, Okay.

Speaker A:

Anyway, so I don't get names.

Speaker A:

Well, sorry, Jacob.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

I should have called you Jacob instead of Jason.

Speaker A:

That was my fault.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Anyway, people are like, what's wrong with you?

Speaker A:

I told you, when I was nine years old, walking on top of the ceiling, the string broke, Bam, Right on my head.

Speaker A:

Just two weeks before my brother's bar mitzvah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

For those that don't know, I was born and raised Jewish, became a Christian and am a baptistal.

Speaker A:

What does that mean?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

All right, let's get to the next trivia question because we're still having a good time.

Speaker A:

My wife is.

Speaker A:

She did let me know she's heading home.

Speaker A:

She's not feeling good enough or she's going home.

Speaker A:

So I reached out in the middle of all of this and asked the doctor to see her again.

Speaker A:

So he will be doing that today.

Speaker A:

So just keep her in prayer, okay?

Speaker A:

Very important to me.

Speaker A:

Here is your next trivia question, and you should get this without even blinking.

Speaker A:

In fact, this should be really easy.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

To whom did God give the covenant of circumcision?

Speaker A:

Genesis 17, 1:11.

Speaker A:

To whom did God give.

Speaker A:

To whom?

Speaker A:

To whom did God give the covenant of circumcision?

Speaker B:

Genesis 17, 1:11.

Speaker B:

If you think you know, you're welcome.

Speaker A:

To reach out and call us.

Speaker A:

Where's our number?

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

You can also text.

Speaker A:

That's kind of cool.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or send an email davidmusincrease.org now, think about this, right?

Speaker A:

To whom?

Speaker A:

Genesis 17, 1:11.

Speaker A:

To whom did God give the covenant of circumcision?

Speaker A:

Now, one thing we are going to do, because I'm not going to mess up on it, is we are going to do our DNA after we do Jake's take, because we have to have Jake's taken here because of what happened over the weekend.

Speaker A:

So, ladies and gentlemen, Jake's Take the floor is yours, sir.

Speaker A:

Jacob.

Jammin Jacob:

Well, David, I guess we are football experts.

Jammin Jacob:

We just know a lot about football as we got both of our picks with picking.

Jammin Jacob:

The 49ers and the Detroit Lions were both correct over this weekend.

Speaker A:

All right, good for us.

Speaker A:

Here's a golf clap.

Speaker A:

Yep, yep, we got that right.

Speaker A:

Lions looking really good.

Speaker A:

I just want to say.

Jammin Jacob:

Yes, yes, the Lions are really good.

Jammin Jacob:

You mentioned getting the monkey off their back going against the Titans, and I think they did.

Jammin Jacob:

Winning 52 to 14.

Jammin Jacob:

That was something.

Speaker A:

52 to 14, right.

Speaker A:

If the Pistons could play that good.

Speaker A:

Anyway, for those that don't know, I was originally from Detroit, then I was in Arizona, and then I was in Colorado, then I was in California, and now I'm in Texas.

Speaker A:

I'm well traveled.

Speaker A:

That's a great way to say that.

Speaker B:

So good job on that pick.

Speaker A:

And then we'll be looking forward to, what, Thursday.

Speaker A:

We're going to have another Thursday.

Speaker A:

We'll do our next J take so we see what's going on in the next thing.

Jammin Jacob:

Yes, yes.

Jammin Jacob:

And then the Cowboys, I.

Jammin Jacob:

They actually see, if I would have looked at the scores between the Lions and the Titans and The Cowboys and 49ers, I would think they would be switched.

Jammin Jacob:

I expected the 49ers to win by a little bit more, but it ended up being a good game by the end.

Jammin Jacob:

It got ugly for a little bit there, but, yeah, Cowboys lost 30 to 24.

Jammin Jacob:

So they kept it close right towards the end.

Speaker A:

Yep, yep, yep.

Speaker A:

And that's a good observation that you made right there because it's like, yeah, you would have thought that would have gone a little differently, but once Detroit hit that 35 and then that one guy had that run back, whether that really looks like that was it, but.

Jammin Jacob:

They had fired in the second quarter.

Jammin Jacob:

When I saw the score, I was like, I was like, oh, it must be the fourth quarter, right?

Jammin Jacob:

No, it was the second quarter.

Jammin Jacob:

They had 35 already.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's pretty good.

Speaker B:

All right, good job on Jake's take.

Speaker A:

Excellent work, my friend.

Speaker A:

And then we will be continuing the audio book.

Speaker A:

So I got that one book, and we've told people before, we have books that I've written.

Speaker A:

They're not brilliant books, but they're encouraging.

Speaker A:

That's their goal.

Speaker A:

And I am going through one of the audio books that we're reading now and finding 450 million mistakes, which I'm correcting.

Speaker A:

But in the Meantime, if you go to the website and we'll send you there in the next segment, be aware that in any of those books that you want, if you can't get them, you tell us by email, by text, or whatever, and we will get you the book free.

Speaker A:

There's just no question.

Speaker A:

We would rather you have the book.

Speaker A:

We're not making any money on it.

Speaker A:

I don't really care.

Speaker A:

What we want to do is encourage people, especially the book, the Faith that Pleases God.

Speaker A:

Because people tend to forget you have a radical faith.

Speaker A:

You may be thinking, what do you mean you have a radical faith?

Speaker A:

Were you there 2,000 years ago?

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker A:

But you believe, Right?

Speaker A:

Somebody who doesn't have faith would look at you and think, that's radical.

Speaker A:

How about them apples?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

All right, we'll do our DNA and then we'll break.

Speaker A:

By the way, DNA always, every day, every show, we do DNA the best we can.

Speaker A:

DNA is what the building blocks is of who we are as Christians.

Speaker B:

D stands for Draw closer to the.

Speaker A:

Lord daily, Daily, every day that ends in Y.

Speaker A:

Spend some time with a guy in the sky.

Speaker A:

It's just so simple.

Speaker A:

The reason it's so simple is today.

Speaker A:

I had a lot of challenges going on.

Speaker A:

Noel had the physical challenges.

Speaker A:

I had some physical challenges, and everything changes.

Speaker A:

For me, somewhere between reading my Bible and cutting out all those distractions and then praying and cutting out all those distractions.

Speaker A:

Spending time with God makes life better.

Speaker A:

You don't do it just so you can have a lot of Bible knowledge.

Speaker A:

You do it for your relationship with the Lord.

Speaker A:

But if it's done earnestly, that leads to more things that you do with the Lord.

Speaker A:

Cause right relationship births right ministry.

Speaker A:

So you draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

The primary ways to do this that are absolutely in your control are prayer, which you've been given permission by the Lord through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ to come into his presence.

Speaker A:

365, 24 7.

Speaker A:

So there's no excuses.

Speaker A:

And you can open up his book anytime.

Speaker A:

You don't read for speed.

Speaker A:

You don't read because just because the pastor said read, you read to hear what God has to say.

Speaker A:

That's why it's called the Word of God.

Speaker A:

Draw closer to the Lord daily.

Speaker A:

D and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker B:

Had it again today in my Devotional Mark, Chapter 8.

Speaker B:

Can't miss this stuff.

Speaker A:

Jesus said, if you're ashamed of me or my words, I'll be ashamed of you when I come with the Father's glory, with the Angels.

Speaker A:

It's like, you know what?

Speaker A:

We cannot be ashamed of the word of God.

Speaker A:

And if the world doesn't like it, tough.

Speaker A:

They don't have a heaven to put you in, so who cares?

Speaker A:

Well, what are you trying to say?

Speaker A:

Jesus never offended anybody.

Speaker A:

He offended tons of people just by telling the truth.

Speaker A:

In society today, two plus two is four.

Speaker A:

Unless one of the twos doesn't feel like it.

Speaker A:

Okay, come on, that's absurd.

Speaker A:

And never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

Cultures change, kingdoms change, everything changes.

Speaker A:

But God's truth never changes.

Speaker A:

Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker B:

And then a.

Speaker A:

Always be ready.

Jammin Jacob:

To serve.

Speaker A:

To serve.

Speaker A:

Now, it doesn't mean you're going to be serving 365, 24 7.

Speaker A:

But you still have to be ready.

Speaker A:

And what is it that the Lord may have you do?

Speaker A:

I have no idea.

Speaker A:

But you can't.

Speaker A:

You can't be a person who thinks, you know, I love this Christian stuff.

Speaker A:

It's a great part of my life.

Speaker A:

I'm an American.

Speaker A:

I'm a Christian.

Speaker A:

I'm this.

Speaker A:

I'm this and this.

Speaker A:

And have no active contact and preparedness and willingness for the Lord.

Speaker A:

That's not Christianity.

Speaker A:

That's just using it as a religion doesn't work.

Speaker A:

Christianity is a living relationship with the living God made possible through the redeeming.

Speaker B:

Work of Jesus Christ and the empowerment.

Speaker A:

Of the Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

That's what it is.

Speaker A:

And it's an active, alive relationship, and we should always be ready.

Speaker A:

Maybe the Lord wants you to pray for somebody while you're driving.

Speaker A:

Maybe he wants you to send a text, maybe send an email, maybe just to offer up a prayer for somebody that comes through your heart and mind for a moment.

Speaker A:

Just be available for the Lord to use.

Speaker A:

D.

Speaker A:

Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Speaker A:

A Always be ready to serve.

Speaker A:

We'll take our break and then we'll come back again.

Speaker A:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Speaker A:

Short break, we'll be back.

Speaker A:

Don't go anywhere.

Speaker B:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

Speaker A:

Here is a DDD entitled Custom Eyeglasses Used on Others.

Speaker A:

Custom Eyeglasses used on others.

Speaker A:

1 Samuel, chapter 18, verse 9.

Speaker A:

So Saul watched David jealously from that day forward.

Speaker A:

Ah, ah.

Speaker A:

Stop.

Speaker A:

There it is.

Speaker A:

So Saul watched David jealously from that day forward.

Speaker A:

How do we see people in our lives?

Speaker A:

Saul saw David through jealous glasses.

Speaker A:

He put on these glasses.

Speaker A:

They weren't the ones from the Lord.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

They were glasses that had much more flesh in them.

Speaker A:

And then everything was tainted.

Speaker A:

This is what happens to you and I.

Speaker A:

And let's just do the honest.

Speaker A:

You know those honest moments where we put on our glasses regarding.

Speaker A:

Regarding some people, because almost every time we get a communication from them, there's just something coming.

Speaker A:

This just low.

Speaker A:

This is going to be lousy.

Speaker A:

I haven't even opened it.

Speaker A:

I'm already dreading it, right?

Speaker A:

Have you ever gone through that, right?

Speaker A:

Or every time this person texts me, I'm not smiling after I read it.

Speaker A:

Or something along those lines.

Speaker A:

And it could be somebody who has got a spirit of complaining.

Speaker A:

It could be somebody that's got a spirit of pride.

Speaker A:

It could be any of those things.

Speaker A:

And you're just like going, oy vey.

Speaker A:

But you're not saying it much, but you know how you're seeing it.

Speaker A:

And that's custom glasses.

Speaker A:

You've already put the glasses on.

Speaker A:

You've already determined how it's going to be.

Speaker A:

You're already seeing it through that slant.

Speaker A:

It's not that they've never done anything.

Speaker A:

It's just that you and I tend to stay in those zones and see people that way.

Speaker A:

And so no matter what was going to happen with Saul and King Saul and David, David was going to impute evil motives to Saul's actions.

Speaker A:

I've gone through this with a professor.

Speaker A:

I'm just confessing, right?

Speaker A:

I had a professor before we started the radio show.

Speaker B:

And my buddy in the.

Speaker A:

In the process was a pastor, was my, like a schoolmate.

Speaker B:

And he would write me and go, what's.

Speaker A:

Why does she, you know, jump on you like that?

Speaker A:

I mean, he was asking me, right?

Speaker A:

And I'm like, every time this statement, I just.

Speaker A:

And I just.

Speaker A:

And instead of having any kind of change of heart or mercy, I was mad, but my anger did not work.

Speaker A:

The righteousness of God.

Speaker A:

And sometimes people do that because of other reasons.

Speaker A:

It's not because of you.

Speaker A:

And we need to do a better job of not wearing custom glasses where we see the downside on people.

Speaker A:

So the question to ask is, what kind of glasses do we use with others?

Speaker A:

And are those glasses approved prescription glasses from God?

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

Speaker A:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker B:

That's K double amen.

Speaker A:

770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Speaker B:

Wow, another blistering show.

Speaker A:

It does go pretty fast, doesn't it?

Speaker A:

All right, let's see if you guys can get this one.

Speaker A:

This is a Pretty interesting one.

Speaker A:

I think you guys can get this.

Speaker A:

What did Jesus say the sellers had turned his house of prayer into?

Speaker A:

Jesus said, you've turned my house of prayer into what did he say that they turned it into?

Speaker A:

Luke:

Speaker A:

Luke:

Speaker A:

And by the way, I don't think we.

Speaker A:

Did we.

Speaker A:

We didn't answer the trivia question, did we?

Speaker A:

Did I answer the trivia question?

Speaker A:

I think we skipped that.

Speaker A:

Did we miss that?

Speaker A:

Did anybody call on for that?

Speaker B:

We missed it.

Speaker B:

Oh, my God.

Jammin Jacob:

I believe.

Jammin Jacob:

Yeah, I think we missed it.

Speaker B:

All right, here's my ping ping pong.

Speaker A:

Ball coming your direction.

Speaker B:

Right, right.

Speaker B:

Ready?

Speaker A:

Ready.

Speaker A:

Hold on.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I threw the ball.

Jammin Jacob:

I didn't know you had a pink ping pong.

Speaker A:

I do.

Speaker A:

I have one now.

Jammin Jacob:

It's gone.

Speaker A:

You just threw it.

Speaker A:

By the way, the trivia to the last one.

Speaker A:

To whom did God give the covenant of circumcision?

Speaker A:

That answer was Abraham.

Speaker A:

And if you follow any Jewish lore, any kind of like fun stuff in the Jewish realm, you find out that Abraham said what?

Speaker A:

Okay, that's a joke.

Speaker A:

So the covenant of circumcision.

Speaker A:

Abraham got that.

Speaker A:

Just so everybody can get that.

Speaker A:

To whom God gave covenant circumcision?

Speaker A:

Abraham.

Speaker A:

Next question.

Speaker B:

What did Jesus say to the sellers.

Speaker A:

That had turned his house of prayer?

Speaker A:

What did he say?

Speaker A:

They turned it into?

Speaker A:

Luke:

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker A:

Got it.

Speaker A:

And by the way, it was probably Ab.

Speaker A:

Abram, not Abraham.

Speaker A:

Actually that.

Speaker A:

Got it.

Speaker A:

Versus, that's the technical part of it, but people like to know that stuff too.

Speaker A:

Okay, so your trivia question.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Just keeping it together.

Speaker A:

We got it.

Speaker A:

This is straightforward.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker B:

Everybody.

Speaker A:

Everybody on the same page with this.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

What did Jesus say?

Speaker A:

What did Jesus say?

Speaker A:

the house of prayer into Luke:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

You can also text:

Speaker A:

That's always fun to do.

Speaker A:

-:

Speaker A:

Or you can send an email.

Speaker A:

Davidmustincrease.org so I'm going to send you up to the website.

Speaker A:

I haven't really done that today.

Speaker A:

And as most of you guys know, we try to be super duper honest on everything that's going on the best we can.

Speaker A:

And so we were able to pay radio rent today, but we are low in the dough.

Speaker A:

So if the Lord puts it on your heart, great.

Speaker A:

If you can't give.

Speaker A:

Don't worry.

Speaker B:

No guilt, no manipulation, nothing like that.

Speaker A:

When you give, you give unto the Lord.

Speaker A:

And you make sure your heart, your spirit, is right with the Lord.

Speaker A:

And when you give, never give to God begrudgingly.

Speaker A:

Never give him leftovers, because he doesn't do that with you.

Speaker A:

So our scripture, just to keep people on Track, is 2 Corinthians 9, 6, 7.

Speaker A:

Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly.

Speaker A:

Whoever sows bountifully will reap bountifully.

Speaker A:

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion.

Speaker A:

For God loves a cheerful giver.

Speaker A:

So when you give, you give it unto the Lord with the right heart and the right spirit.

Speaker A:

We will not give you a whistle, we will not give you a donut, and we will not give you a Lamborghini.

Speaker A:

If you give, we will give you a receipt at the end of the year because we're a nonprofit entity.

Speaker A:

That's it.

Speaker A:

There you go.

Speaker A:

Check it all out on the website.

Speaker A:

Plus also that resource link that's been updated at.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org Prayer request.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org Praise report.

Caller:

He must increase.org Looking to give to this ministry.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org Confused by what's happening right now.

Speaker A:

He must increase.org he must increase.org well, not only do I not want to go for a swim now I don't know if I want to take a bath.

Speaker A:

Kind of like, you know, that's pretty drastic right there.

Speaker A:

Okay, we have somebody ready to answer a trivia question.

Speaker A:

Let's send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Do we lose them?

Speaker A:

Did we lose them?

Speaker A:

Are they there?

Speaker A:

I can't.

Speaker A:

I can't hear it.

Speaker A:

Can you hear them?

Speaker A:

I can't hear him.

Speaker A:

Okay, I'll let you try and re.

Speaker A:

Are they there yet?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Hello?

Speaker A:

Have them call back.

Speaker A:

Okay, let's have them call back.

Speaker A:

We have a little bit of a phone glitch.

Speaker A:

No, they're calling on the other line.

Speaker A:

We'll get this thing.

Speaker B:

Don't you love live radio?

Speaker A:

I do.

Speaker A:

It's so much fun.

Speaker A:

Okay, I think.

Speaker B:

Let's see.

Speaker A:

Is it the same person?

Speaker A:

Probably a different person.

Speaker A:

It usually goes all over the place.

Speaker A:

This is me selling.

Speaker A:

Da da da da da da da da da da.

Speaker A:

Okay, ready?

Speaker A:

Send them on through.

Speaker A:

Knock, knock.

Speaker A:

This is David.

Speaker A:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker I:

My name is Dane.

Speaker A:

What is your name?

Speaker I:

Dane.

Speaker I:

Like the dog.

Speaker I:

Great Dane.

Speaker A:

Dane.

Speaker A:

How are you?

Speaker I:

Dane, I'm doing fine.

Speaker A:

Awesome.

Speaker B:

I'm awesome.

Speaker A:

Awesome.

Speaker I:

Calling from M.R.E.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

You ready for.

Speaker A:

Are you ready for this trivia question?

Speaker A:

I'm going to set it up for you.

Speaker I:

I was born ready.

Speaker A:

I love it, love it, love it, love it.

Speaker A:

All right, here we go.

Speaker A:

I'll set it up for you.

Speaker A:

You can hit it out of the park.

Speaker A:

Here we go.

Speaker B:

What did Jesus say?

Speaker A:

The sellers had turned his house of prayer into a den of thieves?

Speaker A:

That is correct, Amanda, sir.

Speaker A:

They had turned it into a den of.

Speaker A:

It's supposed to be a house of prayer.

Speaker A:

It's not supposed to be like, you know, hey, this is where I'm going to make my monthly nut know, kind of thing.

Speaker A:

It's like, yeah, that was not the goal.

Speaker A:

There.

Speaker A:

Supposed to be a place of prayer, right?

Speaker I:

Well, yeah, I.

Speaker I:

I enjoy listening to you, and you're coming in real clear here in the city of Emory, so awesome.

Speaker I:

Have a good day, and we'll talk to you all next time.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker B:

God bless you, man.

Speaker I:

Bye bye.

Speaker A:

Bye bye.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker A:

Excellent job.

Speaker A:

All right, so there we go.

Speaker B:

We did that.

Speaker A:

We did that.

Speaker A:

We're having fun.

Speaker A:

All right, let me get into this.

Speaker A:

I got to finish some of this teaching.

Speaker B:

I know.

Speaker A:

We.

Speaker A:

That happens.

Speaker A:

Let me go back to this teaching.

Speaker A:

So you got the three sons right?

Speaker B:

Noah drank too much.

Speaker B:

He did.

Speaker A:

He drank too much.

Speaker A:

Don't get weird on it.

Speaker A:

He did it.

Speaker A:

It was wrong.

Speaker A:

Okay, here's what it says.

Speaker A:

Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father was naked and went inside and told his brothers.

Speaker A:

Shem and Japheth took a robe, held it over their shoulders, walked backward into the tent and covered their father's naked body.

Speaker B:

As they did this, they looked the.

Speaker A:

Other way so they wouldn't see him naked.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

When Noah woke up from being drunk, from his drunken stupor is actually what it says.

Speaker B:

He learned what Ham, the youngest son, had done, and he cursed the descendants.

Speaker A:

Of Canaan, the son of Ham, the curse on the Canaanites.

Speaker A:

May they be the lowest of servants.

Speaker B:

Of the descendants of Shem and Japheth.

Speaker B:

Then Noah said, may Shem be blessed by the Lord my God, and may.

Speaker A:

Canaan be his servant.

Speaker A:

And may God enlarge the territory of Japheth, and may his share.

Speaker A:

And may he share the prosperity of Shem and let Canaan be his servant.

Speaker A:

And then Noah lived another 150 years after the flood.

Speaker A:

He was 950 years old when he died.

Speaker A:

All right, so we can almost deduce from just.

Speaker A:

From the Mathematics, that he lived another.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry, another 350 years.

Speaker A:

But we can almost deduce that when he did this vineyard, it was not too long after they had kind of landed on land and got things going.

Speaker A:

I want to talk about this because this has been a controversial text for a lot of people.

Speaker A:

So I'm going to give you my take on it.

Speaker A:

Remember, my take is not the only take.

Speaker A:

And you do not have to agree with me on these type of things.

Speaker A:

Actually, you don't have to agree with me at all.

Speaker A:

But the point is, in this text, there is some question as to whether something else took place.

Speaker A:

So the controversy comes into this.

Speaker B:

It says, Ham, the father of Canaan.

Speaker A:

Saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers.

Speaker A:

So there's many theories as to whether they're simply seeing the nakedness or if some sexual activity took place.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

And I'm saying this just because I'm using Scripture as the guide, the scripture does not make that clear, as some suggest.

Speaker A:

In my own upbringing, in my own Jewish home, it was not acceptable for me or my brother or my sister to ever see our Father's nakedness.

Speaker A:

So I'm not sure that that doesn't just simply apply here.

Speaker A:

It just doesn't rule out that something of a greater evil could have happened.

Speaker B:

I understand there are multiple theories.

Speaker A:

I don't have a problem with people trying to figure that out.

Speaker A:

It's not a reason not to fellowship with somebody.

Speaker A:

That's always ridiculous.

Speaker A:

Those are never reasons.

Speaker B:

Never.

Speaker A:

Is your position on eschatology or your position on Pneumatology which has to do with the gifts?

Speaker A:

Those are never reasons not to fellowship.

Speaker A:

Since our unity is in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that's just not workable.

Speaker A:

What we know is that Shem and Japheth took a garment and covered their father's nakedness without seeing him.

Speaker A:

So they turned their faces away so.

Speaker B:

They wouldn't see him.

Speaker A:

So in verse 24, when Noah wakes up and he knew what his younger son had did, he cursed him.

Speaker A:

That curse was that he would be a servant to his brothers Shem and Japheth both received blessings, but Ham and his offspring Canaan received a curse.

Speaker A:

So you have to like, wow, that's really significant.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

It's actually a sad testimony, though most people don't put it in those brackets.

Speaker A:

And you think, well, why is it a sad testimony?

Speaker A:

Because God had just cleaned the earth, and it didn't take very long or very much for the earth to go right back into it.

Speaker A:

And the fact that God has expressed his patience with us is one of the biggest keys, because he said, I'm not going to wipe it out by water again.

Speaker A:

So for all the climate people read the Bible, that would super be helpful.

Speaker A:

But what would be really great to understand for you and I is that Noah was a phenomenal guy, did a great job for the kingdom, only one righteous that God found in all of mankind.

Speaker A:

And even yet from this scenario, we need the absolute grace, mercy and patience of God not to wipe out the human race again.

Speaker A:

He wasn't going to do it because he made that commitment.

Speaker A:

But what I don't want you to miss is.

Speaker A:

So the truth of the matter is that when people do stupid things, like Noah got hammered and people get in this condition, they do and say stupid things.

Speaker A:

It's true.

Speaker A:

And then his kids take advantage and then you can argue it meant this or it meant this.

Speaker A:

Fine, but that's not the main thrust of the passage.

Speaker A:

The passage is talking about how it all broke down.

Speaker A:

And in fact, chapter 10 is going to go into the descendants of Japheth and of Ham and of Shem.

Speaker A:

That's what this next chapter is going to be all about.

Speaker A:

But in the closing of this chapter, it's a sad testimony because we go from the promise of a rainbow to just crummy behavior.

Speaker A:

And I want to point this out, that this is applicable to you and me.

Speaker A:

In our Christian walk, we go from being redeemed from the law, put in a place in a position for unmerited favor by the grace of the Most High God.

Speaker A:

And yet sometimes we just do stupid things, allow stupid things and function in stupid things.

Speaker A:

And instead of making excuses, hey, who were the first people to make excuses?

Speaker A:

She made me do it, God.

Speaker A:

This woman you gave me.

Speaker A:

Oh, God, the snake made me do it.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

That's called not taking responsibility.

Speaker A:

That's called blame shifting.

Speaker A:

That's been around a lot longer than psychology.

Speaker A:

Shifting the blame to somebody else.

Speaker A:

Instead of any of that, when we do something wrong, you know what?

Speaker B:

What's the great thing to do?

Speaker B:

Own it.

Speaker A:

David said my sin.

Speaker B:

He didn't confess it.

Speaker A:

It was like his insides were festering and he was losing all his strength.

Speaker B:

Then he confessed his sin unto the Lord and found relief.

Speaker A:

Look, if you do something dumb, be honest about it.

Speaker A:

Why do you think you hear so many things in this show about the dumb things that I do?

Speaker A:

At this point, who cares?

Speaker A:

I mean, I love the Lord with all that I've got, but I do dumb things.

Speaker A:

But I count on his grace and mercy.

Speaker B:

So what I want you to see.

Speaker A:

In that picture is it's somewhat of a sad testimony that even from that framework, we couldn't hold it together.

Speaker A:

We couldn't keep it together.

Speaker A:

And man has a propensity to do dark things.

Speaker A:

And so everybody that goes, oh, man is basically good.

Speaker B:

That's not what Jesus said.

Speaker B:

Jesus said, though, you who are evil.

Speaker A:

Can give good gifts to your children.

Speaker A:

Jesus didn't say, we're all basically good.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we're made in the image and likeness of God, but we also have the nature of sinfulness and rebellion in us, and that's a problem.

Speaker B:

And we need the redemption from the.

Speaker A:

Most high God to get out of it.

Speaker A:

I love this saying, and I love how it goes.

Speaker A:

Look, the whole world is going to hell.

Speaker A:

There is a lifeboat named Jesus.

Speaker A:

Get on and get saved or you're not going to be saved.

Speaker A:

And it is a little crude to say turn or burn, but it is not incorrect.

Speaker A:

It's just a little forceful.

Speaker A:

Now, that's the end of that lesson.

Speaker A:

I'm going to take the last three minutes to make a very interesting political comment.

Speaker A:

And I know the Lord set it up this way, so I'm just going to let that go.

Speaker A:

Since I've been doing radio, so that's about 12 years.

Speaker A:

Okay, five and a half years here.

Speaker A:

Five.

Speaker A:

ars prior started in November:

Speaker A:

From Barack Obama to Donald Trump to Joe Biden to every person who's been involved, every candidate running.

Speaker A:

I never say who to vote for or anything, but when somebody says something that's wrong scripturally, I call them out.

Speaker B:

Why?

Speaker A:

Because it's a book.

Speaker B:

You can read it.

Speaker A:

It's really amazing once you do.

Speaker A:

And the other day, the vice president, Kamala Harris, made this comment.

Speaker A:

And I'm not saying that makes her worse or better canvassed.

Speaker B:

I'm just calling this statement out.

Speaker B:

She said this in nine days.

Speaker A:

We have the power to decide the fate of our nation for generations to come.

Speaker A:

That's fine.

Speaker A:

And in this beautiful Sunday morning, I am reminded God expects us to help him.

Speaker A:

That is not fine.

Speaker A:

I'm thinking why you don't help God.

Speaker A:

When you do something good for God, you're not doing God favors.

Speaker A:

God can exist entirely without humanity.

Speaker A:

Humanity cannot exist without God.

Speaker B:

You are not helping God.

Speaker A:

You are privileged to participate with God.

Speaker A:

Nobody is, oh, we're going to help God.

Speaker B:

God needs our help.

Speaker A:

Well, let's see.

Speaker A:

He's omniscient, which means he knows everything.

Speaker A:

Omnipotent, which Means all powerful, all knowing, all wise.

Speaker A:

He don't need our help.

Speaker B:

He would love to fellowship with us.

Speaker B:

That's his desire.

Speaker A:

But he doesn't need us.

Speaker A:

That's a substantial difference.

Speaker A:

So when somebody says something like that, kind of like when Barack Obama said, hey, the Bible says those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Speaker A:

The Bible does not say that.

Speaker A:

Stop saying that.

Speaker A:

And when people say something wrong, you should just say, that's wrong.

Speaker A:

You don't have to freak out about.

Speaker A:

It's just wrong.

Speaker A:

God doesn't need you for anything.

Speaker A:

But God wants you to spend eternity with.

Speaker A:

And that is a big difference because.

Speaker B:

Our dependence is on the Lord.

Speaker A:

And when you start putting yourself in a position where you're the one, that you're helping God out, and without you, what would the Lord do?

Speaker A:

You've just put yourself in a position for flesh to glory in his presence.

Speaker A:

And the Bible says in First Corinthians 1:29, no flesh will glory before his presence ever.

Speaker A:

Just calling that one out.

Speaker A:

And if I hear anything else from anybody else, I will call that out, too.

Speaker B:

You decide who you're going to vote.

Speaker A:

For, but you have no choice who you vote with.

Speaker B:

You vote with God.

Speaker A:

You vote through the direction of His Word, and you vote through the direction of the Holy Spirit granted you by the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.

Speaker B:

That's.

Speaker A:

There's no brainer.

Speaker A:

There's nothing to discuss there.

Speaker A:

But you don't help God out.

Speaker A:

You are privileged just to say hi and still live.

Speaker A:

Get it?

Speaker A:

It's a big deal theologically.

Speaker A:

Okay, all right.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker A:

That wasn't too brutal.

Speaker B:

Keeping it simple, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker A:

You've been listening to the David Spoon.

Speaker A:

Except experience.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Den of robbers is what Jesus called them.

Speaker A:

Den of robbers.

Speaker A:

Just like our caller said.

Speaker A:

Talk to you in:

Speaker A:

God bless you.
