God’s Personal Record: Every Tear, Every Struggle Captured in Psalm 56

As the episode unfolds, Spoon transitions into a more contemplative analysis of Psalm 56, where he highlights David's heartfelt expressions of sorrow and his yearning for God's comfort. He interprets the poignant imagery of God 'numbering our wanderings' and collecting our tears, reinforcing the notion that God is intimately aware of our struggles and emotions. This segment serves as a reminder to listeners that their pain is acknowledged by God, and that seeking Him in moments of distress can lead to profound spiritual insights and healing. Spoon emphasizes that God’s attentiveness to our pain is not just a theological concept but a deeply personal reality for each believer.

A) Psalm 56, picking it up at verse eight, contains some of the deepest and most profound words found anywhere in the scriptures. David says three significant things: Number one, "You number my wanderings." Number two, "Put my tears in your bottle." And number three, "Are they not in your book?"

B) Looking at verse 8 when David says, "You number my wanderings," God knows the exact number of times we have wandered into the closet to talk with Him at our deepest and darkest moments. He also knows our wanderings when we have turned our faces away from Him and relied on other resources. But this text has more to do with dealing with the pain from people who are hurting him and his frustration with the situation.

C) He asks God to put his tears in a bottle so that not one honest moment of his grief is missed by God. He wants it to be recorded so he can know that God shares his grief. He wants to be assured that God bears with him in his struggle and that he can cast his cares onto God. He asks God not to miss one tear so that he might not miss one comfort.

D) Then David asks, "Are they not in your book?" This book is not the Bible. This book is a record that God keeps of us individually. In case you’re wondering, God has a separate book for each and every one of us, recording every single thing that has ever happened to us, whether inwardly or outwardly, our thoughts, our actions, our words, what we have done to others, and what others have done to us.

Takeaways:

  • Doctor David Spoon emphasizes the importance of seeking God during our darkest moments, encouraging listeners to approach God with raw honesty and vulnerability.
  • The discussion revolves around Psalm 56:8, highlighting how God keeps track of our emotional pain by capturing our tears in a bottle.
  • The concept of God recording our life experiences in a personal 'book' emphasizes His intimate knowledge and concern for each individual.
  • Spoon encourages listeners to cast their cares and concerns onto God, reinforcing the idea that He cares deeply for our struggles and emotions.

Because the Lord said, yet another day, sit in the seat.

Doctor David Spoon:

So I do it.

We have no idea what's gonna happen.

Doctor David Spoon:

And really we don't care.

Doctor David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk truth with you.

Doctor David Spoon:

So here we go.

Doctor David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

Doctor David Spoon:

That thingy right there.

Doctor David Spoon:

And this question we're gonna ask you has very deep, relevant for our show.

Doctor David Spoon:

Relevance for our show.

Doctor David Spoon:

I can talk.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'll get there.

Doctor David Spoon:

Here's what this question is about.

Doctor David Spoon:

What book of the Bible would you like to know more about besides revelation, which we're already teaching?

Doctor David Spoon:

We are teaching eight books and we are coming on the conclusion of two additional books.

Doctor David Spoon:

I need to pick the next two books.

Doctor David Spoon:

What books in the Bible are you like?

Doctor David Spoon:

You know, I'd really like to know about this.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm trying to get the pulse from the audience so we can know what to dive into.

Doctor David Spoon:

You know, you're going to get a different perspective, but it's still fun and it's the word of God.

Doctor David Spoon:

And faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Doctor David Spoon:

I.

Doctor David Spoon:

So what books of the Bible outside of revelation?

Doctor David Spoon:

Cause a lot of people are like, revelation, revelation.

Doctor David Spoon:

We're doing that on Thursdays.

Doctor David Spoon:

What book of the Bible would you like to know more about?

Doctor David Spoon:

If you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.

Doctor David Spoon:

Just reach out to us.

Doctor David Spoon:

The first thing you can do is give us a call.

Doctor David Spoon:

-:

Doctor David Spoon:

Talking to Jammin Jacob is like feeling confident that you have done your very best.

Doctor David Spoon:

No, thank you, David.

Doctor David Spoon:

Happy Wednesday and happy it not feeling like 100 degrees outside.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's so nice.

Doctor David Spoon:

Is it not?

Doctor David Spoon:

A little bit nice, folks.

Doctor David Spoon:

Come on, come on.

Doctor David Spoon:

It was so nice.

Doctor David Spoon:

We opened up the door last night because it was kind of a little warm and then it started cooling down.

Doctor David Spoon:

Then this morning we opened up and it was like, wow.

Doctor David Spoon:

Even the dog, Bert, took about three extra seconds to step outside going, what happened?

Doctor David Spoon:

That's how different.

Doctor David Spoon:

Yeah, I walked outside this morning and I said, wow, it actually feels like it's October.

Doctor David Spoon:

It felt so nice.

Doctor David Spoon:

It just feels really, really nice.

Doctor David Spoon:

And what's amazing is I'm still in shorts.

Doctor David Spoon:

Doesn't matter.

Doctor David Spoon:

Just so you can know, January, December, January, February, that's not going to change.

Doctor David Spoon:

Okay.

Doctor David Spoon:

But thank you for bringing that up.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's excellent.

Doctor David Spoon:

We do want to give you a quick weather report.

Doctor David Spoon:

So for those that don't know, we are starting every once in a while to give weather reports.

Doctor David Spoon:

Here's your weather report for Dallas and for Texas.

Doctor David Spoon:

October:

Doctor David Spoon:

There you go.

Doctor David Spoon:

Oh, here's your traffic report.

Doctor David Spoon:

There is in fact traffic.

Doctor David Spoon:

Okay, there you go.

Doctor David Spoon:

There are cars on the road.

Doctor David Spoon:

There are cars.

Doctor David Spoon:

Look, there's a bus.

Doctor David Spoon:

Anyway, here's the bottom line.

Doctor David Spoon:

Bottom line is we want you to reach out to us.

Doctor David Spoon:

-:

Doctor David Spoon:

-:

Doctor David Spoon:

240.

Doctor David Spoon:

Oh, wait, that was the fast one.

Doctor David Spoon:

Let me rewind that.

Doctor David Spoon:

-:

Doctor David Spoon:

That's david mustincrease.org dot.

Doctor David Spoon:

Now again, why would you generally do that?

Doctor David Spoon:

Well, you can answer that question and we're going to ask people when you're calling in for trivia, just to scare you a little bit.

Doctor David Spoon:

What book of the Bible would you like to know more about?

Doctor David Spoon:

We're trying to get the pulse of the audience doesn't.

Doctor David Spoon:

I mean, I love every, every one of the 66 books I enjoy.

Doctor David Spoon:

We are teaching eight books right now.

Doctor David Spoon:

We've completed several books.

Doctor David Spoon:

We've got a little bit more we got to do, a little bit more work we need to do in the Old Testament, I think, but we still want to keep it going forward.

Doctor David Spoon:

Bottom line is you can reach out to us to answer that question.

Doctor David Spoon:

Or maybe you've got a praise report.

Doctor David Spoon:

Did something happen where the Lord helped you?

Doctor David Spoon:

Have you shared that?

Doctor David Spoon:

Have you told brothers and sisters?

Doctor David Spoon:

Have you told your family?

Doctor David Spoon:

Have you told people God has helped me?

Doctor David Spoon:

This is an opportunity to do that on this show.

Doctor David Spoon:

Doesn't matter if it's the splitting of the Red Sea or an extra hair follicle discovered on your head.

Doctor David Spoon:

It doesn't matter.

Doctor David Spoon:

Giving honor to the Lord is a major component of our christian walk.

Doctor David Spoon:

Additionally, if you've got prayer requests, this is the place and the time.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's live.

Doctor David Spoon:

We take our faith, we combine it with one another.

Doctor David Spoon:

We push past denominational separations, recognizing heavenly Father, one father, blood relatives, the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, drinking of one holy Spirit.

Doctor David Spoon:

Yes, you can disagree on ecclesiology.

Doctor David Spoon:

Yes, you can disagree on eschatology.

Doctor David Spoon:

But on bibliology, theology proper and christology and pneumatology, we are all in sync.

Doctor David Spoon:

And so, as brothers and sisters, let's keep it that way.

Doctor David Spoon:

Praying for one another, petitioning the Lord, seeking, having faith, recognizing that nothing is impossible for God and everything is possible for him that believes that nothing is impossible for God.

Doctor David Spoon:

Get that?

Doctor David Spoon:

You can also maybe share a scripture.

Doctor David Spoon:

You got something on your mind?

Doctor David Spoon:

Yes, I know it's the deep, deep, deep season of politics.

Doctor David Spoon:

Yes, I know the allurement.

Doctor David Spoon:

Yes, I understand the picking aside.

Doctor David Spoon:

Yes, I know that the majority of people on this show, where they lean and where they stand.

Doctor David Spoon:

I simply will respond by saying, make sure your involvement in every format of life, including the voting and the politics and things of that nature, are biblically based, period.

Doctor David Spoon:

You think?

Doctor David Spoon:

Well, are you saying no, I'm not telling you anything.

Doctor David Spoon:

In 20 years, if we're all still around here and there's another election, you will hear the same advice for me.

Doctor David Spoon:

20 years ago I shared the exact same advice.

Doctor David Spoon:

20 years prior to that, I shared the exact same advice.

Doctor David Spoon:

Everything you do in your decisions has to be with an element of understanding the kingdom of God and the participation with the Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

If you're not sure what to do, ask God for wisdom.

Doctor David Spoon:

If it's a breach of conscience.

Doctor David Spoon:

Don't breach your conscience, no matter what anybody says to you.

Doctor David Spoon:

But if it's a matter of being lazy, stop being lazy.

Doctor David Spoon:

Okay.

Doctor David Spoon:

Just that simple.

Doctor David Spoon:

All right.

Doctor David Spoon:

Okay, cool.

Doctor David Spoon:

Now we've got these different things going on.

Doctor David Spoon:

We do want to make sure that we keep some of our people in prayer.

Doctor David Spoon:

We're going to pray in a little bit for, again, Rosalind, Robert, and for Angelina.

Doctor David Spoon:

We'll get to that in a little bit.

Doctor David Spoon:

But this text that we're going to fire into is so phenomenal that I just have to jump into it.

Doctor David Spoon:

We are in psalm 57 six for those who do not know.

Doctor David Spoon:

And in psalm 56, we are just.

Doctor David Spoon:

We are.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm just loving it.

Doctor David Spoon:

And I love this section right here.

Doctor David Spoon:

And this is, I'm going to really tear this apart because of how powerful it is.

Doctor David Spoon:

We are picking it up in verse eight in psalm 56, which is David, when the Philistines kind of captured him in gath and he was kind of like a little bit of a situation and then drool coming down in his beard and doing what he had to do to survive.

Doctor David Spoon:

Listen to what he says in verse eight.

Doctor David Spoon:

I love this one.

Doctor David Spoon:

Verse is so, it's so powerful.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's like mind boggling how powerful this is.

Doctor David Spoon:

Here's what he says in verse eight of psalm 56.

Doctor David Spoon:

You number my wanderings.

Doctor David Spoon:

Put my tears into your bottle.

Doctor David Spoon:

Are they not in your book?

Doctor David Spoon:

When I cry out to you, then my enemies will turn back.

Doctor David Spoon:

This I know because God is for me.

Doctor David Spoon:

Yeah, we're not going to get through this.

Doctor David Spoon:

You know that, right?

Doctor David Spoon:

Okay.

Doctor David Spoon:

You number my wanderings.

Doctor David Spoon:

So there are three significant things.

Doctor David Spoon:

Usually there's two.

Doctor David Spoon:

3410, twelve, whatever.

Doctor David Spoon:

There are three significant things that are in this text, but I want to key in on each one separately.

Doctor David Spoon:

You number my wanderings as the first one.

Doctor David Spoon:

So I want you to pick this up.

Doctor David Spoon:

When David says, you number my wanderings, there are a couple of applications this could be, and this would really apply to you and me.

Doctor David Spoon:

God knows the exact times and the exact number of times we have wandered into the closet.

Doctor David Spoon:

Everybody's trying to get out of the closet.

Doctor David Spoon:

Jesus is trying to get everybody back in the closet, wandered into the closet to talk with him in our deepest and darkest moments.

Doctor David Spoon:

I want to point this out to you.

Doctor David Spoon:

This is something that I give advice to for every person that goes into any kind of endeavor, anything they're doing, including my own wife, who's doing her own endeavor, I say the same thing to people, and I say the same thing to myself.

Doctor David Spoon:

You.

Doctor David Spoon:

When you are in a place where you are attacking or going to go forward in something or approaching something or going for something, whatever the case may be.

Doctor David Spoon:

You will find times where there is this really difficult moment in the process.

Doctor David Spoon:

And that is the time that you go face to face with God.

Doctor David Spoon:

God you and God alone.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's the moment when you don't pray.

Doctor David Spoon:

The many formulas you've used in your lifetime, you don't pray.

Doctor David Spoon:

The conceptual, I'll just do this, do this, this.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's when you get before the Lord and there is nothing there but you.

Doctor David Spoon:

The rawness of your existence and God himself.

Doctor David Spoon:

And you are together with God in his presence, made possible by the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, and you just lay it out before him and open up the fullness of your heart.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's a big part of this.

Doctor David Spoon:

There are times when we get in there and we pray and we do it, and it's in a dutiful manner.

Doctor David Spoon:

We do it, try and do it appropriately and so forth.

Doctor David Spoon:

I got it.

Doctor David Spoon:

There is a time and a place for that.

Doctor David Spoon:

And I want you to know that there is a time and a place for that, but there is a time and a place when you get into the presence of God and you drop all the other stuff, you drop the lists, you drop the this and the that.

Doctor David Spoon:

You drop your whatever you're gonna do, and you just come before the Lord and you go, I just need you and me right now.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's called wandering into the closet.

Doctor David Spoon:

I love that the David says, you number my wanderings.

Doctor David Spoon:

Now that's one approach.

Doctor David Spoon:

And just so you can know, I think it's an exceedingly valid Approach, because there are times where we have to wander into the Lord and just go.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm wandering into you, wondering what you're doing and waiting for you to tell me something.

Doctor David Spoon:

Because if not, I'm going to scream.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's what that is.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's one.

Doctor David Spoon:

Here's another way of understanding wandering, and that is simply this.

Doctor David Spoon:

There are times where you and I don't walk the perfect walk.

Doctor David Spoon:

So not only do we bring our deep and darkest moments, he knows our wanderings when we've turned our face away from him.

Doctor David Spoon:

Wait, wait, wait.

Doctor David Spoon:

And relied on other resources.

Doctor David Spoon:

That, too, is a wandering.

Doctor David Spoon:

We wander from the Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

We're not, we've not fallen away in the sense of rejecting.

Doctor David Spoon:

We've just put our confidence, hope and faith in something a little bit more than we've put it in God.

Doctor David Spoon:

I am telling you as a brother in the Lord, that is wandering when we look to something other than God as the core, when we look to something other than God as the source and the resource, and I go through it, too, on a regular basis.

Doctor David Spoon:

When we're doing money for the ministry, same thing.

Doctor David Spoon:

When we're doing situations where people are hurting, same thing.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's not any different.

Doctor David Spoon:

When there's strains in relationship, same thing.

Doctor David Spoon:

When there's tough goings in the, in the ministry, same thing.

Doctor David Spoon:

And then I think, I'll do this, I'll do this and I'll do this.

Doctor David Spoon:

And in a sense, I'm wandering from utilizing the Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's not that I'm not trying to use wisdom, but I'm certainly not waiting on him.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm certainly not doing the full dependence, because, you know, every once in a while God needs help, and I'm here to help him.

Doctor David Spoon:

You get the sarcasm in that.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's what I go through.

Doctor David Spoon:

I know I'm not the only christian going through this.

Doctor David Spoon:

I know what I'm going through.

Doctor David Spoon:

You're going through.

Doctor David Spoon:

So there's this wandering into the closet for those face to face moments.

Doctor David Spoon:

There's the wandering when we turn our faces away from him and rely on other resources.

Doctor David Spoon:

And you know what?

Doctor David Spoon:

We do it more than we maybe care to admit.

Doctor David Spoon:

But in this particular text and in this particular context, this has to do with him dealing with pain from people who are hurting him.

Doctor David Spoon:

And his frustration is with the situation.

Doctor David Spoon:

And he's just wandering in this scenario going, come on.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's kind of like being in the desert, right?

Doctor David Spoon:

God pulls them out of Egypt, out of the bondage.

Doctor David Spoon:

They go through the desert, and they're going to get into the promised land.

Doctor David Spoon:

But in between the bondage and the promised land is the walk in the desert, the wilderness.

Doctor David Spoon:

And that's a part of this, too.

Doctor David Spoon:

You number my wanderings.

Doctor David Spoon:

You number how many times I've been through this, where it was this.

Doctor David Spoon:

You brought me out and you're bringing me in, but I'm on hold and I'm trying to figure it out, and I need some help, and I'm really frustrated, and these people are hurting me, and I don't want you to shoot them, but I do want you to spank them.

Doctor David Spoon:

I don't want you to destroy them, but I'd like you to make an example of them.

Doctor David Spoon:

You see that right there?

Doctor David Spoon:

Don't tell me you've never felt that.

Doctor David Spoon:

All we're getting in this text is how human David is.

Doctor David Spoon:

But you know what?

Doctor David Spoon:

You're getting God recording how humanity David is.

Doctor David Spoon:

God knows you're going through that.

Doctor David Spoon:

He knows that you're struggling with that.

Doctor David Spoon:

And I've got to say this because this is this next part of the verse.

Doctor David Spoon:

He goes, you number my wanderings and look what he says.

Doctor David Spoon:

Put my tears into your bottle.

Doctor David Spoon:

He's asking God to take his tears and put them in a bottle.

Doctor David Spoon:

Right?

Doctor David Spoon:

We've got songs about this, by the way, just in case you're wondering.

Doctor David Spoon:

He's asking.

Doctor David Spoon:

They have built off of this verse.

Doctor David Spoon:

Put my tears in a bottle so that not one honest moment of my grief, God is missed by you.

Doctor David Spoon:

Take the tears that I'm feeling, the pain that I've struggled with, just the rejection and the discouragement, the wandering away from you and the wandering into your closet and trying to fight with you and the wandering of what's going on in this relationship, in this situation, and take every tear that I've ever cried and put it in a bottle so that it's not missed.

Doctor David Spoon:

I want you to record it.

Doctor David Spoon:

He wants it to be recorded so he can know this.

Doctor David Spoon:

Ready?

Doctor David Spoon:

God shares his grief.

Doctor David Spoon:

You've heard my story.

Doctor David Spoon:

I've said it before, multiple times.

Doctor David Spoon:

When I told the pastor all that stuff I went through, and he started crying.

Doctor David Spoon:

And I'm, like, getting mad at him.

Doctor David Spoon:

Cause he's crying.

Doctor David Spoon:

Cause it was my story.

Doctor David Spoon:

And he's like, this is how God feels for you.

Doctor David Spoon:

And it destroyed me because it showed me how stupid I was.

Doctor David Spoon:

God shares our grief, and he wants to be assured that God bears with him in his struggle and that he can cast his cares unto the Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

So he's asking him, don't miss one tear.

Doctor David Spoon:

And he's asking him not to miss one tear so he doesn't miss 1oz of comfort.

Doctor David Spoon:

Record what's going on here.

Doctor David Spoon:

Record my pain.

Doctor David Spoon:

Record this frustration so that you can comfort me, so that I know you have a record of it.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm trying to do it right.

Doctor David Spoon:

Lord, help me through it.

Doctor David Spoon:

Be my God of comfort.

Doctor David Spoon:

As the scripture says, we're supposed to cast our care unto him.

Doctor David Spoon:

Every one of those cares, every one of those tears are recorded.

Doctor David Spoon:

How power.

Doctor David Spoon:

How powerful is that?

Doctor David Spoon:

It's like, what?

Doctor David Spoon:

Every moment.

Doctor David Spoon:

Wait.

Doctor David Spoon:

After I do the trivia question, this last part, even scarier.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm not even kidding.

Doctor David Spoon:

Even scarier.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm not even kidding.

Doctor David Spoon:

All right, take a deep breath.

Doctor David Spoon:

Here's your trivia question.

Doctor David Spoon:

Who were the disciples?

Doctor David Spoon:

Who argued or pursued being able to sit on the right and left hand side of Jesus?

Doctor David Spoon:

Who were the disciples?

Doctor David Spoon:

Matthew, chapter ten, verse two.

Doctor David Spoon:

Matthew, chapter 20, verses 20 through 24.

Doctor David Spoon:

Who were the disciples who wanted to sit on the left and right hand of Jesus?

Doctor David Spoon:

If you think, you know, you can reach out to us very simply, just give us a holla.

Doctor David Spoon:

-:

Doctor David Spoon:

in that's going to be Matthew:

Doctor David Spoon:

In the meantime, I'm going to send you up to, I don't know what it means to send you up to because it's really not above our heads other than it's in the net, I guess.

Doctor David Spoon:

I guess in that way it's above our heads.

Doctor David Spoon:

But I'm going to send you to the website.

Doctor David Spoon:

On the website, by the way, are many, many cool, fun, challenging, interesting, encouraging, goofy and then absolutely ridiculous things.

Doctor David Spoon:

And it is that way on purpose because every once in a while you go to a website.

Doctor David Spoon:

It's fun just to be encouraged in the Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

We try to provide that as much as possible.

Doctor David Spoon:

Also, we try to provide a place for people to support the ministry because we need it.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's why.

Doctor David Spoon:

Just leave it there.

Doctor David Spoon:

Luke 638 give and it will be given to you.

Doctor David Spoon:

Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over will be put into your lap for the measure you use.

Doctor David Spoon:

It will be measured back to you.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's the Lord's commitment in the giving.

Doctor David Spoon:

If you can't give to us, just learn to be a giver.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's what you need to do.

Doctor David Spoon:

Check it all out on the website.

Doctor David Spoon:

He must increase.org prayer request he must increase.org praise report he must increase.org dot looking to give to this ministry.

Doctor David Spoon:

He must increase.

Doctor David Spoon:

Confused by what's happening right now.

Doctor David Spoon:

He must increase.org hemustincrease.org yeah, back in the time where life was a little happier, right, folks?

Doctor David Spoon:

Yeah, right.

Doctor David Spoon:

Little, little Ronnie Howard is Opie.

Doctor David Spoon:

What happened to that guy?

Doctor David Spoon:

All right, anyway, here's your trivia question.

Doctor David Spoon:

Who were the two disciples that were fighting to sit, not fighting, but trying to get it so that they could sit on the right and left hand side of Jesus?

Doctor David Spoon:

Matthew chapter 20, verses 20 through 24 is going to be your specific answer.

Doctor David Spoon:

But wait, because if you call in, you have to be quick.

Doctor David Spoon:

And I want to get to this next verse, which is absolutely, it's just, you're just going to go, what?

Doctor David Spoon:

You're going to go what?

Doctor David Spoon:

Back to verse eight?

Doctor David Spoon:

You number my wanderings, put my tears in your bottle.

Doctor David Spoon:

Ready?

Doctor David Spoon:

Oh, wait, I'm not even done.

Doctor David Spoon:

Are they not in your book?

Doctor David Spoon:

What?

Doctor David Spoon:

Wait a minute.

Doctor David Spoon:

What?

Doctor David Spoon:

Are they not in your book?

Doctor David Spoon:

What book?

Doctor David Spoon:

What?

Doctor David Spoon:

David asks, are they not in your book?

Doctor David Spoon:

Hey, in case you didn't know, this book is not the Bible.

Doctor David Spoon:

I know you're thinking, no, that should be the Bible.

Doctor David Spoon:

Wrong.

Doctor David Spoon:

This book is a record that God keeps of us individually.

Doctor David Spoon:

In case you're wondering, and I'm going to really make this clear to you, God has a separate book for each and every one of us.

Doctor David Spoon:

I'm sorry, what?

Doctor David Spoon:

I doubt it's a folder because we have such extensive lives.

Doctor David Spoon:

I consider it to be a book.

Doctor David Spoon:

If it's a folder, it's big as a book.

Doctor David Spoon:

Let me just say that every one of us has.

Doctor David Spoon:

You're not gonna like this.

Doctor David Spoon:

Has.

Doctor David Spoon:

God has a book that has a recording of every single thing that has ever happened to us, whether inwardly, outwardly, our thoughts, our actions, our words, what we have done to others and what others have done to us.

Doctor David Spoon:

You have a book.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's right.

Doctor David Spoon:

There's a book with only your name and your fingerprints on it.

Doctor David Spoon:

When David said, are they not in your book?

Doctor David Spoon:

It was the book for David, not the Bible.

Doctor David Spoon:

And you, my friends, you my brothers and sisters, you have a book now in that book.

Doctor David Spoon:

I will say this to you, and I'm trying to be nice about this.

Doctor David Spoon:

There are going to be some really awesome things, things that God has done for you, things that he saved you in maybe things you don't even know about.

Doctor David Spoon:

I think that's going to be a big part of the awesomeness of eternity that we're going to get all that stuff.

Doctor David Spoon:

And I want to point out that there will be things in that book where the salvations take place, the answers to prayer, deliverance, miracles, all of that.

Doctor David Spoon:

But there will also be other things in that book.

Doctor David Spoon:

Everything.

Doctor David Spoon:

Since God is omniscient, which means he knows everything.

Doctor David Spoon:

There is nothing in your existence that is not in that book, and he owns the book, even if it has your name on it.

Doctor David Spoon:

And yes, in that book there will be a few things that perhaps you wish there would be some whiteout for.

Doctor David Spoon:

There won't be white out.

Doctor David Spoon:

There'll be read out because those things will be washed away in the blood of Jesus.

Doctor David Spoon:

But they'll be in the book.

Doctor David Spoon:

They'll just be a big red mark through it.

Doctor David Spoon:

Get it?

Doctor David Spoon:

Yeah, I think you're catching on to what I'm trying to say.

Doctor David Spoon:

You have a book.

Doctor David Spoon:

And for your wanderings and your tears, that book has your name and your name alone.

Doctor David Spoon:

Wow.

Doctor David Spoon:

Who were the disciples who wanted to sit at the right and left hand side of Jesus?

Doctor David Spoon:

The answer is James and John.

Doctor David Spoon:

James and John.

Doctor David Spoon:

Al wants us to know that his book is a comic book.

Doctor David Spoon:

All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are going to take a break right now.

Doctor David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kam, 770, the truth station here in Texas.

Doctor David Spoon:

Doctor David Spoon:

We'll be back.

Doctor David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

What is the David spoon experience?

Doctor David Spoon:

Jesus Christ as the lamb of God for you and I, God provided his own burnt offering, his own lamb of sacrifice, because our presentations are not that hot.

Doctor David Spoon:

And this is where you get the understanding that the gift of God is eternal life.

Doctor David Spoon:

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Doctor David Spoon:

How many?

Doctor David Spoon:

All.

Doctor David Spoon:

And the wages of sin is death.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's the result.

Doctor David Spoon:

But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

And God showed his love for us while we were still sinners.

Doctor David Spoon:

That Christ died for us.

Doctor David Spoon:

That's the love.

Doctor David Spoon:

He was the sacrificial lamb.

Doctor David Spoon:

And if you have never made that decision, I invite you right now to make that decision to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord.

Doctor David Spoon:

If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Doctor David Spoon:

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Doctor David Spoon:

This is where you get John 316, which people will say, is the gospel in a scripture which is not far off.

Doctor David Spoon:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Doctor David Spoon:

That gift is available for you.

Doctor David Spoon:

And if you have never exercised that acceptance of that gift, I encourage you to do so by saying this prayer.

Doctor David Spoon:

And don't go anywhere cause I got another one for all of us.

Doctor David Spoon:

Heavenly Father, I surrender my life.

Doctor David Spoon:

Lord Jesus Christ, I give you my heart.

Doctor David Spoon:

Pour out your holy spirit for I believe you rose from the dead and I confess with my mouth you died for my sins.

Doctor David Spoon:

According to the scriptures you were buried and three days later you rose again.

Doctor David Spoon:

You ascended to the Father and are coming back soon and I thank you for this new life you've given me.

Doctor David Spoon:

I praise you and pray this in your name.

Doctor David Spoon:

Amen.

Doctor David Spoon:

If you prayed that prayer for the first time, you are now a Christian.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
