05-02-25 part 2: Faith That Holds, Grace That Hears, and Miracles in the Mess

1. Forty Days and Faith That Sees Beyond Sight

Dr. Spoon opens with a Bible trivia segment, asking how many days Jesus appeared to His disciples after the resurrection. The answer—forty days—unlocks a deeper teaching: nothing about that number is accidental. From Israel’s forty years in the wilderness to Jesus’ own forty days in the desert, Dr. Spoon reveals that divine timing is purposeful and layered with spiritual meaning. Faith isn’t about what we see, as Jesus said to Thomas—it’s about believing when we don’t. Dr. Spoon encourages listeners to embrace that blessed kind of faith—the kind that doesn't demand proof to believe.

2. A Cry for Healing, a Plea for a Miracle

A caller named Al shares a vulnerable prayer request about ongoing emotional conflict in his marriage. What started as a simple trivia call turns into a deeply moving moment of intercession. Dr. Spoon responds with a powerful, Spirit-filled prayer for wisdom, emotional healing, and divine intervention. He doesn't sugarcoat the difficulty of Al’s situation—he acknowledges the emotional toll and pleads with God for a miracle. The heartfelt prayer emphasizes God's willingness, not just His ability, to heal broken places. “We ask for a miracle,” Dr. Spoon says, “because that’s what it’s going to take.” And then, they trust together.

3. A Purse, a Procedure, and Perfect Provision

Nancy calls in next with a testimony that blends humor and faith. Facing a colonoscopy and feeling physically weak, she realized the night before that her purse—containing her ID—was missing. In spite of her distress, Nancy declared her trust in the Lord. Even when the hospital confirmed they didn’t need her physical ID because they had her info already, she knew it was God making a way. After the procedure, she surprisingly woke up alert and able to navigate her anxious husband home. The kicker? The purse was later found in her daughter’s car. Dr. Spoon and Nancy laugh, marveling at God’s faithfulness—even in quirky chaos.

4. Give Thanks, Get Ready for Miracles

In his closing teaching, Dr. Spoon returns to a foundational truth: gratitude activates faith. Quoting 1 Thessalonians 5:18 and Mark 6, he warns that a lack of thankfulness is directly linked to a lack of miracles. Jesus was limited in what He could do in His hometown because of unbelief—not because of His inability, but because of the people's closed hearts. Giving thanks in every situation releases faith and restrains doubt. Dr. Spoon urges believers not to fake gratitude, but to sincerely believe that God will work all things for good—even when it hurts, even when it’s uncertain. That kind of thanksgiving invites the supernatural.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.
