David Spoon:It's totally terrific, totally transforming, totally triumphant Tuesday as we find unity from the Father, through the Son and by the Holy Spirit, all for the glory of God Almighty.
David Spoon:As we do this introduction again, because last time we did it, the show went a different direction.

David Spoon:Picking it back up in Romans, chapter 8, verse 29.
David Spoon:Some people's theology can get a bit misguided, but it doesn't need to be.
David Spoon:Keep in mind that predestination and free will are two sides of the same coin, regardless of what people argue for.
David Spoon:The Scripture says that God knows his people in advance and chose them to be like his son, Jesus.
David Spoon:He foreknew us, meaning he knew ahead of time, and he chose us basically in spite of us.
David Spoon:Next.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:So that his son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
David Spoon:This is about family, Christian family.
David Spoon:The family that God has placed you in is exceedingly important.
David Spoon:We just spent 30 minutes talking about the importance of the house of God.
David Spoon:To say otherwise would be sinful.
David Spoon:The spiritual family that God has connected you to holds great importance and in many cases in the New Testament surpasses that of the natural family.
David Spoon:And finally, we are truly blessed beyond anything we could ever deserve or fully comprehend.
David Spoon:He concludes verse 31 by saying, if God be for us, who can be against us?
David Spoon:That puts us in an enormous place of confidence and victory.
David Spoon:In partnership with God.
David Spoon:Nothing is impossible.
David Spoon:Or how could you possibly have a better partner than you have now because your partner is the king of the universe.
David Spoon:David Spoon's life has been an experience.
David Spoon:While growing up in a Jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.

David Spoon:You know, I think one of the scriptures that really, really blessed me is that Hebrews 4:16, you know, being confident, you know, approaching the throne of grace with confidence in order to receive mercy and to find grace in my time of need, I.
David Spoon:I've noticed I just need grace in my times of need, and I need to receive that mercy.
David Spoon:That's Hebrews 4:16.
David Spoon:Great verse.
David Spoon:Got something like that.

David Spoon:I would encourage everybody not just to be praying for the political leadership of our company, of our country, but also the spiritual leadership of our country.
David Spoon:Because if those people are giving insight, we want them to give the counsel of God according to the word of God.
David Spoon:If you're a Christian, that's what you want, right?
David Spoon:Christ centered.

David Spoon:Coming out of Mark 6, basically, I think it's 38 was the best reference point.
David Spoon:And that is simply this.

David Spoon:I believe it was two fish and five loaves of bread.

David Spoon:And there were leftovers.
David Spoon:Yeah, and there were leftovers, exactly right.
David Spoon:Which I think is brilliant.
David Spoon:And I did mean to say 5,000 men besides women and children.
David Spoon:So that's.
David Spoon:It's an amazing thing, because if you think about it, you've got five loaves of bread.
David Spoon:So if you just think about going to the grocery store and buying five loaves, right?
David Spoon:And then two fish, even if they're small fish, that would be too big of a lunch for one person.
David Spoon:That'd be a lot of food.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Wow, that's some sandwich.
David Spoon:You know, what was that?
David Spoon:Blondie and Dagwood.
David Spoon:That's what that would be like, that kind of sandwich.
David Spoon:But anyway, I want to pray for you, if that's okay.
David Spoon:I just had my own blessing in that, so I want to be able to extend that right to you.

David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:We thank you for our brother Gary.
David Spoon:I just want to thank you, Lord, personally that you touched me and that my body is doing better.

David Spoon:But I rejoice and I receive it, and I'm thankful for it.
David Spoon:And I pray that you would extend that same exact scenario to Gary, that his body would be better, that he would be doing better, that he would be strengthened physically.
David Spoon:He would be blessed in the other realms, because other realms get to be very difficult in this.
David Spoon:And he would also find that the healing power that comes from you is alive and active, and it would be available and poured upon him.
David Spoon:And, Lord, you know, we've prayed for a while.
David Spoon:We're not going to stop praying until you say, no, we're not going to stop.
David Spoon:So we just ask you to bring your healing power into him.
David Spoon:We know you can do anything.
David Spoon:Our request is that you would heal Gary.
David Spoon:Our understanding is that we surrender it to your will and we present it to you and believe you because you're generous and compassionate.
David Spoon:Pour that upon our brother and bless him and heal him in Jesus name.

David Spoon:Listen, that is the one thing out of all the things that I've been through that has kept me in the Lord.

David Spoon:I'm telling you right now.
David Spoon:I'm not trying to brag about I only got there by grace.
David Spoon:I'm only getting there by grace if God even allows me to get there.
David Spoon:But every day, the scripture is clear.
David Spoon:Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
David Spoon:Do that best thing you could ever do ever, ever.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:D and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:Even if the ministers all around don't know God's word, which seems to be the case in certain denominations, we're not going to be ashamed of the word of God.
David Spoon:If people don't like it, they can lump it.
David Spoon:Because no other person has a heaven to put you in.
David Spoon:Jesus is the door.
David Spoon:Heaven is God's home.
David Spoon:You go in through Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:And to be ashamed of what Jesus said and to be ashamed of what Jesus declared or of anything he's ever presented is absolutely horrid.
David Spoon:And he said, if you're ashamed of me and my words, I'll be ashamed of you.
David Spoon:When I come in glory from the Father with the angels, it's like, wow.
David Spoon:No way.
David Spoon:No person is worth that.
David Spoon:No person's praise, no group's praise is worth me making my Lord ashamed.
David Spoon:Ever.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:And never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:And after going through Mark, doing just another study in the Gospel of Mark and how many times Jesus said to be ready.
David Spoon:The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced.

David Spoon:But I just think it has so much to do with when we're so centered on ourselves and we don't pour it into others.
David Spoon:We're missing some avenue of strength and blessing.
David Spoon:And so it's being ready to consider others to think about others, to do for others, to help others, to bless others.
David Spoon:Not that it's 24 7.
David Spoon:I don't think that's really the way it is.
David Spoon:I mean, when you're hungry, you eat.
David Spoon:That part is fine.
David Spoon:I just think it's the amount that we do it for ourselves versus the amount that we do it for others.
David Spoon:I think that's what it is.
David Spoon:So being ready means getting a little bit out of us and a little bit more into the Lord and just being on that radar with Him.
David Spoon:I think it's really important.

David Spoon:Saul saw David through jealous glasses.
David Spoon:He put on these glasses.
David Spoon:They weren't the ones from the Lord, right?
David Spoon:They were glasses that had much more flesh in them.
David Spoon:And then everything was tainted.
David Spoon:This is what happens to you and I.
David Spoon:And let's just do the honest.
David Spoon:You know those honest moments where we put on our glasses regarding some people, because almost every time we get a communication from them, there's just something coming.
David Spoon:This just low.
David Spoon:This is gonna be lousy.
David Spoon:I haven't even opened it.
David Spoon:I'm already dreading it.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Have you ever gone through that?
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Or every time this person texts me, I'm not smiling after I read it.
David Spoon:Or something along those lines.
David Spoon:And it could be somebody who's got a spirit of complaining.
David Spoon:It could be somebody that's got a spirit of pride.
David Spoon:It could be any of those things.
David Spoon:And you're just like going, oy vey, right?
David Spoon:But you're not saying it much.
David Spoon:But you know how you're seeing it.
David Spoon:And that's custom glasses.
David Spoon:You've already put the glasses on.
David Spoon:You've already determined how it's going to be.
David Spoon:You're already seeing it through that slant.
David Spoon:It's not that they've never done anything.
David Spoon:It's just that you and I tend to stay in those zones and see people that way.
David Spoon:And so no matter what was going to happen with Saul and King Saul and David.
David Spoon:David was going to impute evil motives to Saul's actions.
David Spoon:I've gone through this with a professor.
David Spoon:I'm just confessing, right?
David Spoon:I had a professor before we started the radio show.
David Spoon:And my buddy in the process was a pastor.
David Spoon:Was my, like a schoolmate.
David Spoon:And he would write me and go, what's.
David Spoon:Why does she, you know, jump on you like that?
David Spoon:I mean, he was asking me, right?
David Spoon:And I'm like, every time this statement, I just.
David Spoon:And I just.
David Spoon:And instead of having any kind of change of heart or mercy, I was mad.
David Spoon:But my anger did not work.
David Spoon:The righteousness of God.
David Spoon:And sometimes people do that because of other reasons.
David Spoon:It's not because of you.
David Spoon:And we need to do a better job of not wearing custom glasses where we see the downside on people.
David Spoon:So the question to ask is, what kind of glasses do we use with others?
David Spoon:And are those glasses approved?
David Spoon:Prescription glasses from God?

David Spoon:So the reason I'm encouraging you is because I think that lesson about having an honor for the sanctuary of God and the house of God is much more important than people think it is.

David Spoon:I just think it's a weightier message that we should give a lot of acknowledgment to.

David Spoon:So one of the things I'm going to do is I'm going to ready to jump in the scripture.

David Spoon:I didn't really get to do it last week because the Lord had a different direction, but I think this week we will get to talk about it.
David Spoon:Verse 29 For God knew His people in advance, and he chose them to become like his son, so that His Son would be the firstborn with many brothers and sisters.
David Spoon:And having chosen them, he called them to come to him, and he gave them right standing with Himself, and He promised them his glory.
David Spoon:Wow, it's like, what a mouthful.
David Spoon:Let's start off with the basic God knew His people in advance.
David Spoon:Does that mean he's telling everybody who his people in advance are?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:Great lesson from some great, great authors like Gene Edwards is God knowing God knows everything.
David Spoon:He's just often not telling.
David Spoon:That's the truth.
David Spoon:You don't think so?

David Spoon:The reason that you got saved and you didn't get immediately quote unquote raptured on the spot is because you and I are little billboards for Jesus.
David Spoon:Now there's not one of us that doesn't think from time to time.
David Spoon:Well, you know, as soon as I said yes, if you would have said come on up, that'd been okay.
David Spoon:But God has a greater plan and a greater purpose for you and I being a part of his family.
David Spoon:And he's dad and we're brothers and sisters and dad is in charge.
David Spoon:He wants us to have this greater reflection of Jesus.
David Spoon:So listen to what it says.
David Spoon:God knew his people in advance and he chose them to become like his Son.
David Spoon:Now, positionally, every one of us is smart enough to figure out we have the righteousness of Jesus Christ put upon us.
David Spoon:We receive that by faith.
David Spoon:It is given by grace, because God loves us.
David Spoon:But the practical part of it, the sanctification part of it, is God making us actually more like Jesus.
David Spoon:And some of us know that as the Lord has brought you through trial after trial, you have responded in some trials with more maturity or wisdom than you did prior.
David Spoon:But don't fret.
David Spoon:God's continually working on us in some of those other areas where you're like, well, I'm not sure if I'm doing any better in patience or I'm not sure if I'm doing any better in this or don't worry, God is working it right.
David Spoon:That song, Waymaker, he's working when we don't even know.
David Spoon:Of course he's working on us.
David Spoon:And so he wants us to become more like his son, more like Jesus, so that his son would be the firstborn with what many brothers and sisters.
David Spoon:Now, I'm not a big fan of Sister Sledge, but in this case, we are family.
David Spoon:That is true.
David Spoon:You might as well just deal with it because we're going to go to heaven.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:And I don't know what you think is going to happen there, but all those people that you're going to engage with, those will be your brothers and sisters, and daddy will be Daddy.
David Spoon:That's how it's going to be.
David Spoon:And I'm more than confident some people will be there you think might not be there, and some people won't be there that you think should be there.
David Spoon:I mean, that's just one of those things you probably figure out.
David Spoon:Yeah, that probably happened.
David Spoon:But in the nutshell of it all, or understanding it all, is that this is about brothers and sisters, about family, the Christian family.
David Spoon:And I know it's difficult for you to hear this, and sometimes it's difficult for me to say.
David Spoon:It may be a little easier for me because of how my Christianity birthed out and how it became over the last 47 years.
David Spoon:But there are times in your life where spiritual family takes precedent over natural family.
David Spoon:That's happened only 150 times in scripture, let alone a few times.
David Spoon:I mean, it happened right at the crucifixion where Jesus is looking at John and his mom.
David Spoon:There's your kid, there's your mom.
David Spoon:Take care of it.
David Spoon:I mean, it's like right there at the crucifixion.
David Spoon:It's like, wow.
David Spoon:Now, what's important about that is you and I understanding we are all blood relatives.
David Spoon:Blood relatives by your natural family, blood relatives by the spiritual family.
David Spoon:Because it's the blood of Jesus.
David Spoon:It's not the water, it's the blood.
David Spoon:And we share a deeper identity with Christ in the blood relatives.
David Spoon:Because, man, that's our salvation.
David Spoon:That's pretty hot.
David Spoon:That's what God wants us to kind of connect to.
David Spoon:So you're thinking, I know, but he could do this, or he can do this.
David Spoon:There is nothing that God allows.
David Spoon:Nothing in your life that does not have a specific purpose.
David Spoon:Nothing that you go through is for nothing.
David Spoon:Get it?
David Spoon:It's like, wait, what do you mean?
David Spoon:That means that everything has value and meaning.
David Spoon:Ta da.
David Spoon:Congratulations, you're the winner.
David Spoon:Step up and get the prize.

David Spoon:Everything has value because God is doing it.

David Spoon:In other words, the rights that we have and the preamble is that we get to pursue happiness, not that it's provided for us by the government.

David Spoon:It would be nice if they quit trying to quote our Founding Fathers and then say they're entitled to something because of that provision, because it never says that.

Caller JD:After Abraham had been arguing with God about having five righteous men in Sodom and Gomorrah, that Lot, his nephew, met the angels at the gates to Sodom.
David Spoon:That is correct among yourself.
David Spoon:And actually did.
David Spoon:He went to 10.
David Spoon:He said, if there's 10 righteous people, will you spare the city?
David Spoon:And God said, sure.
David Spoon:But he started at a much higher number, which tells you exactly how us Jewish people think.
David Spoon:So if there's 50 righteous, God goes, yeah.
David Spoon:And he goes, 40, 30, 20, 10.
David Spoon:Couldn't resist, brother.
David Spoon:Couldn't resist.
David Spoon:How can we pray for you?

Caller JD:Okay, so I have been helping a friend for more than a year with his business, and his business is not doing well.

David Spoon:I am asking you right now to bless him first with a great sense of peace, the peace of mind that passes all understanding when we bring our issues to you, when we bring our struggles to you, when we bring our frustrations to you and our unsurities and trying to step it in the right direction.
David Spoon:Lord, you make a commitment that if we offer that petition, that request with the heart of thanksgiving and commit it to you, that there is the peace that passes all understanding.
David Spoon:It doesn't make sense and it doesn't have to, but that same peace will keep our hearts and minds.
David Spoon:That's what I'm asking for, my brother.
David Spoon:That his heart would be protected from the emotional part and his mind from the attacks of the enemy.
David Spoon:And, Lord, direct his steps.
David Spoon:Make the steps clear.
David Spoon:If it is forward, tell him how to take the step and how big of a step to take and what timing to take that step so that he can do it exactly in sync with you, because you are his priority, primary partner.
David Spoon:Give him that insight, Give him that understanding he wants to do what you want, dad.
David Spoon:Make it easy for your kid, make it simple for him, and give him that affirmation that he's looking for.
David Spoon:He's not doubting your existence.
David Spoon:He just wants to make the right decision and do it in the right timing.
David Spoon:Give him that insight he seeks from you.

David Spoon:We'll do a short part of this, then we'll come back.
David Spoon:I mean, I've got a lot still got to do, but let's just get into this.
David Spoon:It's very fascinating element right here.
David Spoon:So we're in verse, we said 29, remember?
David Spoon:For God knew his people in advance and he chose them to become like his son so that his Son would be the firstborn with many brothers and sisters, verse 30.
David Spoon:And having chosen them, he called them to come to him, and he gave them right standing with Himself, and He promised them his glory.
David Spoon:I love stuff like this.
David Spoon:See, this is where I lose it.
David Spoon:It's absolutely amazing.
David Spoon:First of all, we've been chosen.
David Spoon:Now, again, that does not negate your responsibility to make a decision and to bear responsibility for the decisions you make.
David Spoon:That argument we'll get into in Romans 9.
David Spoon:But God has chosen you and called you.
David Spoon:And we've been given this right standing with him so that he can give us his promise of glory.
David Spoon:So people for years have been trying to figure out what is the glory?
David Spoon:What is the glory?
David Spoon:And there's probably 20 excellent theological definitions, but I'm going to give you the one non theological definition that's as correct as any other, and that is this.
David Spoon:The glory of God is God.
David Spoon:In his presence is the fullness of joy.
David Spoon:When his glory is manifested, of course his kingdom is manifested.
David Spoon:So you can tie it to that.
David Spoon:His will is done.
David Spoon:You can tie it to that, to that, to that.
David Spoon:Every one of those things is going to be 100% correct.
David Spoon:But the ultimate expression of the glory of God is God himself.
David Spoon:And even Moses, who was so hungry for God, he wanted more.
David Spoon:It just wasn't enough.
David Spoon:I want more.
David Spoon:You've done this.
David Spoon:I've done this.
David Spoon:I've spent this time with you.
David Spoon:My face is glowed, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
David Spoon:I want to see all of it.
David Spoon:And God's like, you can't see all of it yet, dude.
David Spoon:If you see all of it, you'll explode.
David Spoon:It's like, no, but I will give you as much as I can give you.
David Spoon:And that is ultimately what God is promising us is his glory, which ultimately is Him.
David Spoon:We might think we know what's coming because we've read Revelation, but I'm a little more confident that we're misunderstanding some of God's communication.
David Spoon:What's coming is connected to the glory of God, which absolutely surpasses our current ability to comprehend him in human form.
David Spoon:Moses couldn't see him because of the glory.
David Spoon:Well, probably us either.
David Spoon:Not this side of glory, but the other side.
David Spoon:I just have this absolute, I'm fully convinced can be fully theologically defended, that because we are in mortality, we cannot handle the revelation of immortality.
David Spoon:We can just grasp at it like little seeds.
David Spoon:But God has called you and I to a place of receiving and engaging with his glory, which is Him.
David Spoon:And no, I don't think the fullness is here on this side.
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:I think the fullness is on the other side.
David Spoon:Cause it says, we will be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
David Spoon:But you can't do that now because you're in a mortal body and it's gotta be swallowed up by the immortal.
David Spoon:But something so far past our deepest concepts is coming.
David Spoon:And God has called us.
David Spoon:He's chosen us, and he's called us to come to Him.
David Spoon:And he's given us this right standing with him, and he's promising us his glory.
David Spoon:That is some serious, serious stuff.
David Spoon:That is how much God loves you, that he wants to manifest himself to you in such a way that you get who he is and you will be so beyond blessed.
David Spoon:We can't do it on this dark side here.
David Spoon:I encourage you to use that as part of your hope.
David Spoon:All the stuff you're going through, it can be really.
David Spoon:It can be a downer, it can be a drag.
David Spoon:But the stuff that's coming, Paul said, two different times, not worthy to be compared.
David Spoon:Not worthy to be put on the same scale.
David Spoon:What's coming far exceeds all your expectations.
David Spoon:That's who God is.

David Spoon:That's not what the Lord wants.
David Spoon:That's not the right kind of offering for God.
David Spoon:We don't do stuff like that.

David Spoon:We do it with the right heart, the right spirit.

David Spoon:Isn't that mean I don't tell you the other line to that, but I'm sorry that God didn't choose you.

David Spoon: Last thing,: David Spoon:There were photographs taken of Pluto at the Lowell Observatory, which I used to live in Flagstaff, Arizona, and have prayed at the Lowell Observatory.
David Spoon:Little spooky there, just to let you know.
David Spoon:And it wasn't identified until a month later, and then it was finally declassified because they figured out it wasn't a planet, then that it was a planet, and then it wasn't a planet, then it was a planet, then it wasn't a planet, and we'll find out in a couple years.
David Spoon:They don't know it's a planet.
David Spoon:Sure.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:It's not a planet.

David Spoon:If God is for us, who can be against us?

David Spoon:What can we say about such wonderful things as these?
David Spoon:When we're reading Romans, chapter eight, when we're reading Galatians, chapter four, five and six, when you're reading Revelation.
David Spoon:In fact, when you're reading anything in Scripture, if you get something in scripture and you're like, wow, like just the other day, me sharing with you about Peter saying the Lord inclines his ear to the prayer of the righteous, how he leans over.
David Spoon:If you get something from the Lord, you got to recognize what it is.
David Spoon:It's something wonderful that God has given you.
David Spoon:People read the Bible and they get nothing.
David Spoon:You understand that, right?
David Spoon:Zero dead wood.
David Spoon:Sawdust.
David Spoon:We'll read the Word of God and something pops out there and we look at it and it's like a piece of gold.
David Spoon:Well, you know what it is?
David Spoon:A piece of gold.
David Spoon:Eternal gold.
David Spoon:So the reason I'm keying in on that is I want you to be aware that when you get into the Word and I'll get into if God is for us, who can be against us?
David Spoon:But I want you to catch this.
David Spoon:What can we say about such wonderful things as these?
David Spoon:These things that God manifests to us in His Word Here?
David Spoon:You know what you say?
David Spoon:Thank you.

David Spoon:You praise him, you give him thanks.
David Spoon:There's so many wonderful things God has shown you, is showing you and will show you.
David Spoon:Let them know how much you appreciate it.
