01-14-2025 part 1: The David Spoon Experience: Finding Hope in Trials and Triumphs

In this engaging episode, Dr. David Spoon explores the concept of self-control as the weakest fruit of the Spirit, as shared by a caller named Sabrina. He emphasizes that many people struggle with self-control, often wishing they could undo impulsive actions or words. The discussion highlights the importance of recognizing and welcoming Jesus into every area of our lives, much like how the crowds welcomed Him into Jerusalem with shouts of praise and celebration. Dr. Spoon encourages listeners to assess their own spiritual growth and areas where they may need to let go of control and allow God's guidance. The episode wraps up with a lighthearted trivia question that ties back to biblical themes, reinforcing the connection between faith and everyday life.

In a vibrant and engaging episode, David Spoon opens the conversation by emphasizing the importance of humor and laughter in the Christian experience, referencing Ecclesiastes to highlight the balance of joy and sorrow in life. He invites listeners to reflect on their spiritual fruits, particularly which ones they find most challenging to embody. This approach fosters a sense of vulnerability and community as listeners are encouraged to share their personal struggles, making the show feel like a safe space for open dialogue about faith.

The interaction with Sabrina, a caller who identifies self-control as her weakest fruit, provides a focal point for the discussion. David not only validates her struggle but also shares his own experiences, reinforcing that these challenges are common among believers. His insights offer practical encouragement, reminding listeners that God’s grace and support are always available in times of need. This nurturing environment is enhanced by David’s humor and relatability, making difficult topics easier to digest.

The episode transitions into an interactive trivia segment that adds an element of fun while also encouraging listeners to engage with biblical teachings. David poses a trivia question related to Genesis, connecting it back to the larger theme of recognizing God's hand in everyday life. He emphasizes the necessity of inviting Jesus into all areas of one’s life, using biblical references to illustrate the transformative power of faith. The episode closes with a heartfelt prayer for Sabrina and her family, encapsulating the show’s mission to build a supportive community rooted in faith and love.

That's just how brilliant we are and we don't care.

David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk hope with you.

David Spoon:

So here we go.

David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

David Spoon:

That thing right there.

David Spoon:

Now, I'm going to ask you a question.

David Spoon:

I don't want you to be embarrassed by it.

David Spoon:

I don't want you to be afraid of it.

David Spoon:

I don't want you to freak out.

David Spoon:

I want you to relax.

David Spoon:

But the fruit of the spirit, we talked about this last week.

David Spoon:

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.

David Spoon:

Which is your weakest fruit of the spirit?

David Spoon:

No judgment, just asking the question, just being honest.

David Spoon:

If all the fruits of the spirit, love and joy and peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.

David Spoon:

Of those nine listed fruits, which is your weakest fruit?

David Spoon:

The one that you really need to work a little bit harder on?

David Spoon:

With the Lord.

David Spoon:

That's the question we're asking.

David Spoon:

If you have a response to that or an opinion, a comment, a thought or a different question, please don't let it die of loneliness.

Just reach out and give us a call.

David Spoon:

I love it.

David Spoon:

I love it.

David Spoon:

Talking to Jam and Jacob is like talking to a person that you.

David Spoon:

Let me just say this.

David Spoon:

When you're talking to Jam and Jacob, please don't get his whole bio, by the way, but when you're talking to Jam and Jacob, let me just say talking to him is like talking to a person that you.

David Spoon:

You can count on.

David Spoon:

Do you know how powerful that is to be able to count on somebody?

David Spoon:

Talking to Jim and Jacob is like talking to somebody you can count on.

David Spoon:

What do you think?

David Spoon:

Do you like that?

David Spoon:

Yes.

David Spoon:

Thank you, David.

David Spoon:

Happy Tuesday.

David Spoon:

Happy Tuesday to you, my friend.

David Spoon:

How are things going for you?

David Spoon:

It's going good.

David Spoon:

We have a caller on the line.

David Spoon:

Well, let's bring that caller through.

David Spoon:

Let's do it right now.

David Spoon:

Bring him on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

Sabrina:

Hi, David.

Sabrina:

This is Sabrina.

David Spoon:

Hi, Sabrina.

David Spoon:

How are you?

Sabrina:

I'm doing great.

Sabrina:

How are you?

David Spoon:

I'm doing wonderful.

David Spoon:

I'm glad that there's a lot less snow to drive through.

David Spoon:

I'm just being honest.

David Spoon:

I'm just like, I'm happy about that.

David Spoon:

I didn't mind the cold.

David Spoon:

It was the cars that were driving sideways that kind of bothered me.

David Spoon:

That's what was getting to me.

Sabrina:

Yeah, yeah.

Sabrina:

We're not used to it down here.

Sabrina:

We're just not.

David Spoon:

Yeah, it's not the norm for sure.

David Spoon:

And so being from California, I'll tell you what happens in California when it rains.

David Spoon:

People stop their cars, get out and go, what is it?

David Spoon:

You know, it's really funny.

David Spoon:

How can I help you today?

David Spoon:

What can we do to be a blessing?

Sabrina:

Well, you were just talking about the fruits of the spirit and which one you're weak is that.

Sabrina:

And for me it's self control.

David Spoon:

I believe that's amazing.

David Spoon:

Let me tell you why that's amazing.

David Spoon:

I'm going to say something which I think will really help a lot of people.

David Spoon:

Self control is the number one that most people struggle with, ironically, because it's like, you know, when you kind of slip a little and go a little bit to the wrong side on something and you sit there and you think, man, I wish I had one of those reverse tapes that I could pull everything I just said back or I can just pull back everything I just did or thought because it's like that's where we lose it right in that spot.

David Spoon:

So I want you to know you are in excellent company with all of the brothers and sisters in Christ, that being number one.

David Spoon:

So how's that?

David Spoon:

That should make you feel like, oh, at least I'm right at home.

Sabrina:

Yes, no, it does.

Sabrina:

And I've just realized that the things that I do may be comforting in the moment, but they just lead to nowhere.

Sabrina:

But when I take that first step in faith and just say, okay, Lord, I'm not going to turn the TV on today and sit here and watch it for hours, I'm not going to do that.

Sabrina:

It's scary and it's uncomfortable at first, but it's always, always better in the end.

David Spoon:

Isn't that the case?

David Spoon:

I mean, that's a great, great observation.

David Spoon:

It's almost like whatever it is that you're about to do or wherever you're going to go into, it's like you almost like if you pull back just a little, you always find out, man, that was worth it.

David Spoon:

You know, it was worth that pullback.

David Spoon:

And it's like, but we don't think of that because it's not that instant gratification but it is a long term holy spirit simmering inside of us kind of mentality.

David Spoon:

It's like, ooh, that's good.

David Spoon:

That's a good thing.

David Spoon:

Yes, absolutely.

David Spoon:

Excellent, excellent phone call by the way.

David Spoon:

Anything we can pray for you about?

Sabrina:

Oh, yes, that'd be great.

Sabrina:

I have a 4 year old son and he's in speech and we're working on his speech right now.

Sabrina:

He's wonderful.

Sabrina:

And my mom and dad are in the middle.

Sabrina:

They're trying to move, they're trying to buy this house and it looks like everything's okay, but there's a few things to iron out.

Sabrina:

I know they're nervous and stressed about it, but that would be great if you could pray for them.

David Spoon:

Absolutely.

David Spoon:

Let's do it.

David Spoon:

Let's pray together.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Let's bring it before the Lord.

David Spoon:

Father, we come before you right now and Father, we thank you.

David Spoon:

We praise you first and foremost, hallowed be thy name, because you're awesome to us and we love you, Lord, and you're so kind to us.

David Spoon:

Your goodness exceeds us.

David Spoon:

So we pray for Sabrina and His son right now.

David Spoon:

Going through that process, it can be stressful for a parent.

David Spoon:

I went through the exact same thing with Josh, you know, now he won't shut up, Lord.

David Spoon:

So you gotta help them go through the process.

David Spoon:

Be real patient, be real careful, but be real confident that this is gonna just pan out just fine.

David Spoon:

And we're praying for mom and dad in that situation.

David Spoon:

House purchases, house sales, house moving, house relocation, house, house, house.

David Spoon:

Anything has got a lot of stress connected to it.

David Spoon:

We pray that there would be the peace that passes all understanding, that would comfort not just mom and dad, but the rest of the family that's connected.

David Spoon:

And everybody would be just steadfast and solid.

David Spoon:

And you bless their family and let them know, just with a token of your graciousness, how much you love them and how much you care.

David Spoon:

We lift them up as our family members.

David Spoon:

We thank you for them, and we pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

David Spoon:

Amen and amen.

Sabrina:

Amen.

Sabrina:

Amen.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

Thank you.

David Spoon:

Excellent call, by the way.

David Spoon:

Very, very good job.

Sabrina:

Thank you so much and love the show.

David Spoon:

All right, thanks so much.

David Spoon:

God bless you.

Sabrina:

You too.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

All right, so great first call.

David Spoon:

Isn't that fun?

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

See, that's kind of what we do, you know, be brothers and sisters for one another.

David Spoon:

That's a good idea.

David Spoon:

Oh, is that thing.

David Spoon:

What is that thing that the Bible says, carry one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ?

David Spoon:

Galatians, chapter 6, verse 2.

David Spoon:

There it is.

David Spoon:

So very, very cool.

David Spoon:

And I like that Sabrina is honest about that, because I'm telling you right now, that is the one.

David Spoon:

And actually, you know who said that Prior?

David Spoon:

One of our frequent callers said the same thing.

David Spoon:

It's like, that's the one that I struggle with because sometimes it's like, pull it back.

David Spoon:

Anyway.

David Spoon:

All right, so we're going to get into Matthew in a second, but I do need to make sure you're aware of contact, what the purpose is, what we're doing here.

David Spoon:

It is.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

We do not believe that will bite.

David Spoon:

We think you should be fine.

David Spoon:

You can also go ahead and text us now.

David Spoon:

Texting is easy.

David Spoon:

I can't respond as quickly as I used to to all the texts because I get a lot more texts.

David Spoon:

But I eventually text everybody at some point throughout the day or at least before I exit for the evening.

David Spoon:

So if you want to text, you can do that.

David Spoon:

And you can do that for many things.

David Spoon:

It can be for a prayer request.

David Spoon:

It could be for a praise report.

David Spoon:

It can just be to answer trivia, which we'll do a little later on.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Or.

David Spoon:

Or you can call us, you can text us, or you can send an email.

David Spoon:

And that's fun, too.

David Spoon:

And I do respond to emails as well.

David Spoon:

Davidmustincrease.org David, that's my name.

David Spoon:

Named it birth named not for the king, although I wish at a with the circle.

David Spoon:

He must increase from John 3:30.

David Spoon:

He must increase.

David Spoon:

I must decrease.org because we're a nonprofit organization.

David Spoon:

Nonprofit corporation, whatever you want to call it.

David Spoon:

Bottom line, why would you call.

David Spoon:

Why would you text?

David Spoon:

Why would you email?

David Spoon:

It could be to share a praise report.

David Spoon:

It can be to answer a Bible trivia question or an opening question like Sabrina just did.

David Spoon:

It can be for the purpose of prayer because you got something, you just need to help.

David Spoon:

You just need to get through.

David Spoon:

You just need help.

David Spoon:

People praying with you.

David Spoon:

It could be for any of those things or something you just want to share, something the Lord's put on your heart.

David Spoon:

Super big blessing.

David Spoon:

You just want to share it or something really important that the Lord warned you in.

David Spoon:

All good.

David Spoon:

Your goal here is the same as mine, and that is in this show.

David Spoon:

We're not against politics.

David Spoon:

We're just flying.

David Spoon:

4 encouraging one another to draw closer to the Lord.

David Spoon:

The scripture says, draw near to God and he will draw near to you.

David Spoon:

And that, my friends, is the key right there.

David Spoon:

Okay, okay, we're in Matthew, chapter 21.

David Spoon:

We're gonna pick it up at verse six.

David Spoon:

And this part is quite cool if we can catch it or if I can share it correctly.

David Spoon:

Either way, Matthew 21:6, it says this.

David Spoon:

Remember, Jesus had sent his disciples saying, hey, you know, go get the donkey, go get the colt, bring him, right?

David Spoon:

This is after that, verse 6.

David Spoon:

The two disciples did as Jesus said.

David Spoon:

They brought the animals to him and they threw their garments on the colt, and he sat on it.

David Spoon:

Actually, that word is sat on them.

David Spoon:

He sat on both the colt and the donkey.

David Spoon:

Most people don't think about that, but that.

David Spoon:

That is a big key.

David Spoon:

Here is what I want you to catch.

David Spoon:

Though.

David Spoon:

They sat on it, most of the crowd, verse 8, spread their coats on the road ahead of Jesus.

David Spoon:

And the others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

David Spoon:

He was in the center of the procession and the crowds all around him were shouting, praise God for the Son of David.

David Spoon:

Blessed is the one.

David Spoon:

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.

David Spoon:

Praise God in the highest heavens.

David Spoon:

Which also, by the way, is the word hosanna.

David Spoon:

First thing I wanna point out is just as disciples of Jesus Christ and simply being people that follow the Lord, trying to follow and do what he says.

David Spoon:

Listen to what the very first line says.

David Spoon:

It never gets taught on, so I'm gonna teach on it.

David Spoon:

The two disciples did as Jesus said.

David Spoon:

That's a brilliant thought right there.

David Spoon:

He said, go do this.

David Spoon:

They did what?

David Spoon:

He said, isn't that a good idea for us?

David Spoon:

Jesus tells us to do something, do it.

David Spoon:

Don't sit there and try and over spiritualize.

David Spoon:

Do this.

David Spoon:

Just do what the Lord tells you to do.

David Spoon:

That's what he wants.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

You know, you're supposed to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself.

David Spoon:

Which got upped a notch when Jesus said, love one another as I have loved you.

David Spoon:

But the idea behind it is to just do what the Lord says.

David Spoon:

There's many times in Scripture where it just says, she did it, he did it.

David Spoon:

They did exactly as the Lord commanded.

David Spoon:

That is what we need to be about.

David Spoon:

If the Lord tells us to do it, do it.

David Spoon:

We don't need to get an explanation from him, from everything he asks of us.

David Spoon:

We need to say, yes, Lord, because that's what he wants us to do.

David Spoon:

If he wanted to be questioned about everything that he ever told us to do, he'd probably coordinate some kind of book for us that would give us a response on how we should handle that, and that is to trust him.

David Spoon:

to Revelation:

David Spoon:

Somewhere along those lines.

David Spoon:

Anyway.

David Spoon:

Verse 6, two disciples did as Jesus said.

David Spoon:

They brought the animals to him and threw their garments on the colt, and he sat on them.

David Spoon:

Cool.

David Spoon:

Most of the crowd spread their coats on the road ahead of Jesus.

David Spoon:

Others cut branches from trees and spread them on the road.

David Spoon:

Couple things to pick up on here.

David Spoon:

First and foremost, as the disciples bring the animals to Jesus, they place their garments on the colt, sits on the animals mentioned before.

David Spoon:

This is a fulfillment of prophecy which can only fully be understood through Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

Again, no matter what anybody says, the New Testament explains the Old.

David Spoon:

We understand the prophecy that's taken place.

David Spoon:

That's in the Old Testament, from Zechariah 9,9 in this fulfillment in Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

Got it.

David Spoon:

It's almost kind of a surreal scene.

David Spoon:

Because people are spreading their coats on the road ahead of Jesus.

David Spoon:

People are cutting branches and laying.

David Spoon:

Jesus is in the center of this procession.

David Spoon:

People are shouting and screaming.

David Spoon:

I just want you to be aware, they're not like going, yeah, praise the Lord.

David Spoon:

Hey, yeah, praise the Lord.

David Spoon:

I mean, they're shouting.

David Spoon:

They're just shouting.

David Spoon:

You see that word shouting in the Greek?

David Spoon:

They're expressing it.

David Spoon:

They're yelling, praise God for the Son of David.

David Spoon:

And again, this is his initial entry into Jerusalem ministry wise.

David Spoon:

And everything looks very promising, doesn't it?

David Spoon:

Boy, it sure looks promising in the beginning.

David Spoon:

But as most of us know, people can be fickle in this form of celebration.

David Spoon:

Guess what?

David Spoon:

It's not going to last.

David Spoon:

Did you know that?

David Spoon:

I think you knew that.

David Spoon:

It's going to change in a little bit.

David Spoon:

But as they're shouting, and by the way, there's many indications from people who were historians who would say that when a king entered into a city, people would do that very thing.

David Spoon:

They'd cut branches, they'd throw.

David Spoon:

Throw their coats down, like as a way to say welcome.

David Spoon:

So that's what that's behind.

David Spoon:

That's what's behind that.

David Spoon:

And so they're saying, praise God for the Son of David.

David Spoon:

Praise God in the highest heaven.

David Spoon:

Now, these titles, this praise God for the Son of David, that title is for the Messiah.

David Spoon:

And Jesus truly is the Messiah of God.

David Spoon:

He's the Savior, he's the Lord.

David Spoon:

And even if people didn't understand what they were shouting in its full capacity, they still were giving acknowledgment and glory just as Jesus referenced, saying if they didn't shout out praises, the rocks would have cried out because who it was that was coming.

David Spoon:

And I want you to understand something about Jesus entering into the city and Jesus entering into your life and Jesus entering into certain areas that you've even closed off in your life to him.

David Spoon:

You and I should welcome Jesus in every area of our lives.

David Spoon:

You and I should lay down our coats, cut branches and say, welcome.

David Spoon:

Give a celebration.

David Spoon:

Because whatever area is in your life, when we welcome Jesus into it, he becomes the Lord.

David Spoon:

And that makes it go so much better.

David Spoon:

So make sure.

David Spoon:

And don't tell me, oh, I've given everything.

David Spoon:

Make sure.

David Spoon:

And if you're not sure, tell the Lord.

David Spoon:

If I'm not giving something to you in an area of my life, if I'm holding it back, if I'm restricting it, if I'm trying to hide it, or if I'm trying to fool myself, help me.

David Spoon:

This isn't A game.

David Spoon:

You need God's help.

David Spoon:

When I prayed that prayer for deliverance when I was doing those drugs, I didn't make any.

David Spoon:

There was nothing weird about it at all.

David Spoon:

It was completely honest.

David Spoon:

And I said, I need your help.

David Spoon:

And he helped.

David Spoon:

And if somebody knocked on your door and it was a neighbor or a friend and they said, I really need your help, how would you respond?

David Spoon:

And then take that and put that in God's character, How would he respond?

David Spoon:

Right.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

All right, here's your trivia question.

David Spoon:

This last part of this, though, is really, really good.

David Spoon:

So don't get too complacent.

David Spoon:

Here's your first trivia question.

David Spoon:

In Genesis 41, somebody had a vision about seven fat cows coming out of the river.

David Spoon:

Genesis 41:1 2 was that Adam, Moses, Pharaoh, or Abraham?

David Spoon:

In Genesis 41, who had that vision of seven fat cows coming out of the River?

David Spoon:

Genesis 41:1 2 was that adam, Moses, Pharaoh, or Abraham?

David Spoon:

If you think you know, you can give a holla.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Or you can send an email.

David Spoon:

Davidemustincrease.org In Genesis 41, who had the vision of seven fat cows coming out of the river?

David Spoon:

Was that Adam, Moses, Pharaoh, or Abraham?

David Spoon:

Genesis 41:1 2.

David Spoon:

In the meantime, I am going to send you up to the website to remind you giving from our perspective is a good idea.

David Spoon:

It's an idea whose time has come.

David Spoon:

I'm stealing that from somebody's marketing somewhere.

David Spoon:

It's a great, great thing, and we think you should consider it highly.

David Spoon:

Is that a nice way to make that plea?

David Spoon:

That's pretty good.

David Spoon:

All right, look, if you can give, great.

David Spoon:

If you can't, don't sweat it.

David Spoon:

Seriously, okay?

David Spoon:

Just pray for us.

David Spoon:

I mean, I was talking to somebody today.

David Spoon:

I said, listen, I just want you to pray that the faucets open up.

David Spoon:

And he thought I was talking about the faucets in our house.

David Spoon:

No, no, I meant the financial faucets.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

We want that.

David Spoon:

We need that.

David Spoon:

We need that.

David Spoon:

That's a big part of what we do, and it's how we keep doing ministry.

David Spoon:

So if you can give, consider that additionally on the website, there's a ton of stuff, including books that if you go there and you can't afford it, you tell us, we'll buy it, we'll Send it to you, no questions asked, period.

David Spoon:

They're not great books.

David Spoon:

They're just books that I wrote that are there for encouragement because that's what we're trying to do.

David Spoon:

Check it out on the website.

David Spoon:

Hemustincrease.org Prayer requests hemosincrease.org Praise report hemosincrease.org Looking to give to this ministry.

David Spoon:

That's just what I'm going with.

David Spoon:

Unless you have somebody who's got like an indoor pool or something.

David Spoon:

I just don't see it.

David Spoon:

What do you think?

David Spoon:

I mean, it's a little cold to go in there right now, isn't it?

David Spoon:

Do you ever think about it?

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

If you're going swimming, indoor pool, that's the way to go right now.

David Spoon:

That's the only way to do that right now.

David Spoon:

We had a neighbor, his name was Bernie Davis.

Back when I grew up in Detroit, when I was a young, young boy, he would tie his pool every.

David Spoon:

I'm not kidding you.

David Spoon:

You have to understand, the wealthy people think a little differently.

David Spoon:

So he had this really enormous like 60 by 30 pool.

David Spoon:

It was huge.

David Spoon:

Right.

David Spoon:

And he would let it freeze in the winter and we would play hockey on it.

David Spoon:

And then in the spring he would replaster it every year and then have a swimming pool.

David Spoon:

So I grew up.

David Spoon:

Can't help you.

David Spoon:

That's just what I went through.

David Spoon:

Yeah, that's something I can't even fathom.

David Spoon:

Yeah, he just replaced.

David Spoon:

I don't care.

David Spoon:

Replaster it.

David Spoon:

Well, he was one of the owners of the original Detroit Wheels, which was one of the first, not NFL, but like the first shoot off branch of the football thing.

David Spoon:

So he had a little money.

David Spoon:

Anyway, so let's move back into what we're talking about there.

David Spoon:

Your trivia question's straightforward.

David Spoon:

I don't think it's overly complex.

David Spoon:

Genesis 41, somebody had a vision of seven fat cows coming out.

David Spoon:

They also had the vision of seven skinny cows.

David Spoon:

Who was this?

David Spoon:

Genesis 411 2.

David Spoon:

Was it Adam, Moses, Pharaoh or Abraham?

David Spoon:

If you know, reach out to us.

David Spoon:

You only got a couple of minutes.

David Spoon:

Let me go back to this text because something that gets missed in this text and I want to make sure you understand it.

David Spoon:

Picking it back up from basically verse nine, which is kind of important to do.

David Spoon:

So he's on the road.

David Spoon:

He was in the center of the processions.

David Spoon:

And the crowds all around him were shouting, praise God for the Son of David.

David Spoon:

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.

David Spoon:

Praise God in the highest heaven.

David Spoon:

Verse 10.

David Spoon:

The entire city of Jerusalem was stirred as he entered.

David Spoon:

Who is this?

David Spoon:

They asked.

David Spoon:

Verse 11.

David Spoon:

And the crowds replied, it's Jesus the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.

David Spoon:

Catch this.

David Spoon:

I want you to understand this.

David Spoon:

So in verse 10, the entire city in Jerusalem is stirred as he entered.

David Spoon:

Remember, they don't have mass media or anything like that.

David Spoon:

Everything is word of mouth.

David Spoon:

Nobody put up a poster saying, hey, Jesus isn't down, right?

David Spoon:

So this is what happened when they was coming into town.

David Spoon:

People would say, who is this?

David Spoon:

What's the big deal?

David Spoon:

What's going on?

David Spoon:

Why is everybody all so, like, freaking out?

David Spoon:

Not everybody knew who Jesus was, right?

David Spoon:

Not everybody knew what was going on, but they were simply in awe that so many people were surrounding him and shouting and praising.

David Spoon:

I mean, what a spectacle.

David Spoon:

The city is like, erupting as this guy comes in, right?

David Spoon:

And listen to what the crowd says in response to the question, who is this?

David Spoon:

This is really important.

David Spoon:

The crowd said, it's Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth.

David Spoon:

Even those walking him into Jerusalem didn't all know who he was.

David Spoon:

And why that's important is because Jesus wasn't just a prophet, though he had that office as well.

David Spoon:

He was Messiah, God's Messiah for our salvation.

David Spoon:

And when I talked to my mom about this whole process, in the very beginning, when I became a Christian, I did think she turned towards the end of her life.

David Spoon:

But that's a discussion for another time.

David Spoon:

I said, well, what would you classify.

David Spoon:

What would you say about Jesus?

David Spoon:

She said, he was a good moral teacher.

David Spoon:

And I said, well, that good moral teacher taught he was the Messiah.

David Spoon:

So either he's a good moral teacher and the Messiah, or a liar.

David Spoon:

So you gotta pick.

David Spoon:

So that's the kind of conversations we used to have.

David Spoon:

And why I'm bringing that up is.

David Spoon:

Cause even the crowd's like, going, wow, wow, it's Jesus.

David Spoon:

He's a prophet.

David Spoon:

Oh, no, he's much more than a prophet.

David Spoon:

He's the Lord and he's our Savior.

David Spoon:

And if you don't know that, you need to know that today.

David Spoon:

Get it in Genesis 41.

David Spoon:

Who had the vision of seven fat cows coming out of the river?

David Spoon:

Also seven skinny cows?

David Spoon:

Was it Adam, Moses, Pharaoh, or Abraham?

David Spoon:

And the answer is, Pharaoh had that dream.

David Spoon:

Genesis 41.

David Spoon:

1 2.

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

We'll take a short break, then we'll come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Short break.

David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

What is the David Spoon experience?

David Spoon:

This is the way I put it.

David Spoon:

He's still working on me to make me what I ought to be.

David Spoon:

That's exactly right.

David Spoon:

That's an excellent say.

David Spoon:

He's still working on me to make me what I ought to be.

David Spoon:

That's a great line.

David Spoon:

That's excellent.

David Spoon:

And let me share this story with you.

David Spoon:

I got to share this thing.

David Spoon:

You brought that up about the gas.

David Spoon:

And I've talked about this story one other time, but I'll bring it up again when I, my brother and I, Billy and Larry and Bruce and I were at Foundation Fellowship as a church long ago.

David Spoon:

This lady testified it was just so amazing.

David Spoon:

It was right when the gas was going absolutely crazy.

David Spoon:

And she said she's filling up her car and she puts the car was empty.

David Spoon:

She put the gas in and she looked up to heaven and she said, how are we going to get through this?

David Spoon:

This is absolutely, this is getting to be ridiculous.

David Spoon:

She put the car and she started filling up the gas and after about a dollar it stopped and it wouldn't pump anymore.

David Spoon:

She'd only pay about a buck's worth.

David Spoon:

And her car was empty.

David Spoon:

And on a dollar, God filled her tank completely.

David Spoon:

And so it's just like, God can do anything.

David Spoon:

It's like, oh, no.

David Spoon:

I'm telling that lady.

David Spoon:

She was.

David Spoon:

You just could not.

David Spoon:

You cannot take the joy of the Lord away from her.

David Spoon:

She was, like, so happy.

David Spoon:

She was restrained in sharing it, but it just tells you God can take anything we have and multiply it and get us through.

David Spoon

David Spoon was born and raised in a Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. He attended a private Hebrew school called Hillel Hebrew Academy. David was bar mitzvah-ed at the age of thirteen. Not long after, he was involved in drug abuse and trafficking. After hearing the Gospel for the first time at age seventeen, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A few months later, David had a dramatic experience with God. Immediately set free from years of excessive drug use, he committed himself to ministry and to furthering the Kingdom of God.

He attended Arizona Bible College, Northern Arizona University, and Life Pacific College, graduating summa-cum-laude in their Ministry and Leadership program. He also graduated with honors from Regent University with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Christian Ministry at Liberty University.

He is one of a few individuals holding ministerial ordinations from three separate denominations: Heritage Free Baptist Organization, 1981; Independent Pentecostal Ministers Association, 1985; and Vineyard Valley Association, 1988. He was also the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department. In addition, David was the senior pastor of Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Flagstaff.

In addition, David started and co-hosted two different live Christian call-in radio talk shows. He hosted the very popular radio show “The David Spoon Experience” on KPRZ 1210 and a show called “To Know Him,” which aired on 88.9 on the F.M. dial-in Temecula, California at 1:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. He was also the Director of Local Ministry for Salem Media Group in San Diego, California.

David is married to his best friend, Noelle. He has three children and seven grandchildren, plus their two dogs named Levi and Bert. On March 18th, 2019, he started “The David Spoon Experience” in Texas and is growing with his audience of awesome believers and non-believers alike.

He is the President of He Must Increase Ministry, a 501c3 ministry, and is hosting (again) the live daily radio show “The David Spoon Experience” with DJR Broadcasting in KAAM, on the 770 A.M. radio dial. The show is also on various apps and the Internet.

David is a Jewish-Christian, Bapti-Costal, Cal-Minian, Manifold Millennialist.

Just ask him.
