10-01-2026 PART 2: Standing in the Gap for Life
Section 1
Life stands at the center of this teaching as Dr. Dave prepares for a conversation with Autumn Christensen of Her PLAN, an organization connecting women with thousands of life-affirming care providers. The biblical foundation begins in Genesis 25, where Rebekah’s unborn children are described as babies and as two people within her. 10012026B From there, Dr. Dave frames the discussion not primarily around politics, but around the biblical value of human life. God is presented as the Author and giver of life, beginning with His breathing life into Adam and ultimately demonstrating His love through Jesus’ self-sacrifice for humanity. The central question for believers therefore becomes larger than cultural arguments or political platforms: what has God said, and how should His people respond to the life He has created?
Section 2
The discussion moves from belief into practical Christian responsibility. Dr. Dave emphasizes that standing for life should involve more than arguing about an issue; believers can pray for, encourage, and support ministries that provide practical help to mothers and children. 10012026B Organizations doing that work need people willing to stand beside them spiritually and practically. That same principle extends beyond this particular issue: Christians should continually ask whether they are living to please people or God. Cultural approval, political acceptance, family opinions, and public criticism cannot become the standard determining Christian conviction. Yesterday’s teaching about God being our sanctuary connects directly here. When our deepest reverence belongs to Him, we become freer to follow His Word without constantly measuring how everyone else will react.
Section 3
Prayer becomes the essential response when believers confront situations they cannot personally control. Dr. Dave describes praying continually for resolution in the conflict involving Ukraine and Russia, and he applies that same perseverance to praying about abortion, families, and especially wayward children. 10012026B Spiritual armor ultimately includes prayer, and standing in the gap means refusing to quit simply because circumstances have not yet changed. Dr. Dave makes this personal through prayer for his own son: rather than asking God to bless a wrong direction, he asks the Lord to love him, reach him, and bring him fully into the kingdom. People may refuse our counsel, but they remain completely reachable by God. Standing in the gap means continuing to pray, believe, hope, and trust when you cannot change the person or situation yourself—because God still can.
