08-21-2026 PART 2: He Shows Up with a Purpose

Section 1

Traveling toward Damascus with authority to persecute Christians, Saul suddenly encountered a light from heaven brighter than the midday sun. Dr. Dave emphasizes that Saul and his companions fell to the ground as Jesus confronted him directly, asking why he was persecuting Him. Saul had been attacking the church, but Jesus took those attacks personally because they were directed against His people. The encounter demonstrates how closely Christ identifies with those who belong to Him. When believers face opposition, persecution, or spiritual attacks, Jesus sees what is happening and does not consider their suffering separate from Himself.

Section 2

Rather than merely stopping Saul’s persecution, Jesus immediately revealed that His appearance carried a specific purpose. He commanded Saul to stand and declared that he was being appointed as both a servant and a witness. Dr. Dave applies that calling directly to every believer: Jesus does not enter our lives simply to increase our comfort or accumulate blessings around us. He wants our hearts, but He also calls us into service. Christians do not necessarily need a platform or a bullhorn to fulfill that responsibility. They can serve and witness naturally as God brings people across their path throughout everyday life.

Section 3

Looking beyond what Saul had already experienced, Jesus promised that there was still more He intended to reveal to him. Dr. Dave explains that the same principle continues throughout the Christian journey. Believers can testify about everything God has already done while remaining expectant about what He will still show them in the future. There is never a legitimate point where Christians can simply decide they have finished serving or witnessing while God continues working through their lives. Fear may sometimes make sharing difficult, but believers can ask the Lord for courage, trusting that He will remain with them as they faithfully serve and testify about Him.
