08-07-2026 PART 2: Resting in the Shepherd's Care
Section 1
Drawing from a devotional by the late Pastor Ray Bentley, Dr. Dave reflects on the beautiful picture of Jesus as the Good Shepherd who lovingly carries His wounded sheep. Just as a shepherd gently lifts an injured lamb onto his shoulders, Christ compassionately cares for believers who have grown weary through life's burdens, disappointments, and struggles. Rather than expecting His people to carry every weight alone, the Lord invites them to find renewed strength, peace, and comfort in His faithful presence.
Section 2
Too often, believers resist the very help Jesus freely offers because they feel responsible for solving every problem on their own. Dr. Dave explains that genuine humility means acknowledging personal weakness and allowing the Lord to carry what cannot be carried through human strength alone. God's promises to remain with His people are unchanging, but they become deeply personal when Christians willingly surrender their fears, burdens, and limitations into His capable hands.
Section 3
Trusting the Good Shepherd requires yielding every part of life to His loving care. Dr. Dave points to the biblical pattern of trusting, delighting, committing, and resting in the Lord as the pathway to experiencing His sustaining grace. God gives grace to the humble, not to those who insist on managing life independently. When believers release their burdens to Christ and depend upon His strength instead of their own, they discover the gentle care of the Shepherd who faithfully carries His people every step of the journey.
